[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello everybody from Ashland high school it's Ashland High School Varsity Sports on Ashland cable television tonight the Ashland High School clockers hosting the dois sherban Raiders Bob thaer Travis upam Dan Baker Matt Gemma Brennan Marlo and Conor denovan bringing in tonight's game being played on January 8th 2013 and Travis an up and down season for the clockers they come in three up and five down right and they come into tonight hoping to take a victory against do Sherburn who's two and five on the season 0 and five in the league hopefully gain some momentum with a win tonight from what I've been able to see in the paper from following uh the teams in the paper both teams have lost some T games clock has really only been out of like one
game I think the uh Medway game was kind of a bad loss but they've played tough games they just uh have come out on the losing end five times they have three good wins to their credit and the Raiders have been playing fairly tough themselves but losing have have not been able to win a league game they're 0 and five in Tri Val League now the clocker starting lineup introduced their second leading scorer Joey Burns number 14 3 Shane Pason and their leading scorer Shane having a great season Pas Antonio number 33 number John and here's a surprise uh starter for the clockers John ausi who's really come out of nowhere uh to start for the clock as this season was a JV player a year ago number four is laau who else is starting
John vanle I believe number 32 John just a sophomore but a 62 and now a recorded Star Spangled Banner [Music] [Applause] [Music] la [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Clark is in their home whites tonight the Raiders in their visiting blue with black [Music] numerals godess smallest crowd on hand and Travis I don't see the uh many students here they are back from vacation aren't they they are and uh you know it seems like ever since last year when my senior class left we LED that that clocker crazy fan section and since ever since I've been back it was always a lot of fun uh to come to the basketball games not so much on a Tuesday more on a Friday but it was a lot of fun to come and uh and see everybody and cheer
for your team and play some games up there and uh right but there everyone is very sensitive now you you know even something as simple as a boo uh is like bullying frowned upon yeah right so it's Raiders look to be decent size up front and we're underway pass anonio to Burns that's ausi he's 32 is John Van cleff and number four is Evan labou no good The Raid is clear 8 Minute quarters in the tvl 23 Ned linan a player to watch for the Raiders a veteran ayusi Lao in trouble back to ayusi at the arc tries to get it into shame I was I was scream Travis what happened did he just never got there yeah never got there look like a little miscommunication there for the clockers lers work it they want
to use their big man they get it into him in a fashion he kicks it right out the floater is wild out of bounds Steve alesandro threw that one up he's 14 mleta is 11 the big guy is Bryant Thompson and he's just a sophomore backourt pressure Pas Antonio Outlets it to labov and CLE is open stuffed but the fouls on Brian Thompson John just a sophomore listed at 62 he's done a good job in the games I've been at yeah he's been starting yeah first point of the game is ashlands back Grim fight for the boards tangan tupen Janan came down with that one nice move gets it in couldn't get it to go nice rebound couldn't get that to go Pas anonio clears out lets to ausi Laos sees an opening and makes
it first field goal of the game three nothing clockers backourt pressure iusi takes it away threads it to Van CLE he's too far under finds a way but he walked looked like conflicting reports there from two different refs one was could have gone either way right Jeff right right I saw traveling I also saw a fallou right whoever saw it first I guess yeah and it's really hard to say what occurred first one on two he keeps it himself and gets the three-point play now it's the chart offensive wow can't say I agreed with that call but the ashl will take it lazy pass they get away with it they triple them Joey finds labau Joey gets it back little Jumper in the lane five nothing [Music] clockers Raiders in trouble in the back court
they get it across all alone and he he couldn't get a layup he had to take a short jumper odd play there by Brian Thompson the sophomore giving that ball up alandro he gets this one the Raiders are on the board 52 clock is leading by three and they go back court pressure it's still white ball first Subs of the game 32 Andreas kopus tough names in this squad ooo sophomore 32 and the other number I think it was 25 uh the easil no 23 was it 25 yeah it's 25 Charlie Stenhouse Travis three minute gone and no three-pointers yet no is this basketball or what playing inside for the most part what was it [Music] 1973 three-point is such a big part of the game at every level short and if I remember correctly
in years past do Sheran is big in the three balls yeah every team is you know you can't find a team that doesn't shoot the three and the first subs for Ashland is 23 that's Alex Christensen and the other was Max Feinberg who's a player to watch a freshman Max wees 21 interior trouble and Shane picks up his first foul five to2 the score hangs quick hands there by fineberg but he didn't quite get it that was oh oh he's under and he made [Applause] it Charlie Stenhouse gets his first basket 54 Ashlin leading by one a rusi is the point guard in this [Music] configuration and he launches a three in and out Raiders are looking to press it Travis right they're looking to apply the pressure to the Ashlin and see if they
can break it but linan I don't know if he's shot yet and uh I captain and a player like him can only go so long without shooting a mysterious 5c violation you must Advance the ball you have five seconds in which to do it if you do not it's a 5-second violation and uh you don't usually see it when you're dribbling around the arc but it got called there wide open fineberg no Shane didn't get that rebound the Raiders running again good defense by ausi kept that one from Rolling In but I I guess you'd have to say that was a nice rebound by Andrea Andrea scopus and it paid off for him you know he didn't really have the best position but he made sure he got it ayusi takes it himself missed the
basket but will go to the free throw line kopus is number to 32 Andreas kopus number 15 is Nick tupen Janet tupen Janet of T yeah I'm trying to work on him somebody called the timeout I didn't catch who it was the Raiders according to the scoreboard and they're leading six to five I don't know sort of a sluggish opening period slow start to the period definitely both teams starting to feel each other out but nothing no results so far Raiders have missed some makeable shots I guess you'll have to say and the clockers have had several go in and out right so some bad luck for the clockers to start the game clockers have also thrown away a couple the Raiders had a 5-second violation so a strange start so far yeah not much
going on but I see the Raiders looking to push but I don't know if they don't know enough to to look for the layup uh and it's interesting because when they're pressuring Ashlin clockers look like they know how to handle it look like they've been there before and the clock is so far I won't say they're going inside but and they're trying to shoot from inside the ark Aus gets it to go John loves the long sleeve leave uh te under his uniform right making a fashion statement every game he plays yeah almost looks like a superhero if he had a cape if he had a white Cape or something I'm sure he'd appreciate that well he's given Ashen a 76 lead with those freeze Ben mleta one of the co- captains for the Raiders
the ball handler now they get it inside he's wide open what happened what happened look like ashin ball look like it bounced off his knee I think that's the call Raiders with backcourt pressure KUSI and Burns Burns doubled and a jump ball without the Raider even getting both hands interesting call John was in trouble no question but uh there was nothing close to a tie up and he didn't like that call and I can't blame him the arrow is pointing the Raiders way they take the ball mleta calls for it doesn't get it and the steal by fineberg ahead to ausi he's bumped no call across the 10sec line now at the top of the key lost his dribble looking around has to take a three in his mind at least who's snuck in there
for ashy 15 Morrison snuck into the game on us and he took that last [Music] shot he's open he takes it and makes it Charlie Stenhouse with two baskets here in the early going fineberg is fouled unnecessarily I would say by Ben mleta Raiders have four fouls only one on the clockers which I don't even know what that means only one foul in six minutes second foul on malleta and he'll get a seat on the bench max fineberg just a freshman getting a lot of playing time this season and there's the first three-pointer of the game Dave Morrison 108 Clark is leading by two Grant Keefe is in the game 22 hovers at the arc I think he wants to shoot the three makes a good pass and it just wouldn't fall nice rebound by
Will Bowser will wants to take a three there's a long tow by Steve alesandro tie game Shane ahead to John who drives in dishes and got foul along the way I guess is a non shooting event right it'll be clocker ball underneath now five fouls on the Raiders 17 puts Ashlin into the bonus coach is using Brian Thompson on a limited basis number 12 for the Raiders he's out of the game again Maris woo he's feeling it he feels it 1310 they double and couldn't get it almost had it almost had [Music] it Grant Keef that was again he walked took an extra step on that running left hander but Stenhouse has shown the ability to get his shot it's going to have to be watched a little closer fineberg felt he needed one and
made one as suddenly up five in the final 20 seconds of the first period one second differential shot and game clock bad pass Shane's got it 12 seconds left now we're down to seven ayusi in trouble forced deep fineberg is going to have to take it they give it to Maris and he misses this one off the top of the backboard time expires in the first quarter and the clockers with a little flurry thanks to two three pointers by Dave Morrison have a 15-10 lead at the end of the first period and uh I was waiting for those threes and uh they really were timely right exactly funny you see Dave Morrison come in a big kid and you wouldn't expect him to be the one to start banging threes but he came in and
did a great job well they're big plays you know right they really big plays six big points oh I see the student section is now here Travis they've moved to a new location near the front door right I heard that I'm not sure why so when they're rejected it's closer to the uh exit I think right right and this is rather sad you know the uh the official on duty of the game uh coordinator right I'm not sure why that's necessary has to stand and look at them for the entire game gets worse and worse every year yeah I think but they deal with it yeah I just don't like it I don't like it either Morrison is going to inbound to start the second quarter ausi stays in the game Alex Christensen is in
the game 23 fineberg stays in 21 and Shane Pas Antonio 33 Shane really getting bodied by the smaller Duffy who's on him or ke rather there's another one Dave Morrison there's three for David nine points 18 to 10 Ash with the biggest lead of the night it's an eight-point advantage puts his head down good move I guess it just didn't roll in Ned linan trying to get something going for the Raiders ausi now directing traffic ke has has Morrison now Morrison open at the ark they don't get it to him now let Sandro against Christensen a good defensive [Applause] play sort of a late sort of a late call was that he waited till they went to the floor and then called the foul pointed to him on the floor interesting you know I like
the way he went for the ball there and uh seemed like alisandra caused the contact right I don't I I don't know about oh the drama the Raiders break a fairly long drought in an 80 ashin run Shane's going to take a rest who came in [Music] um see his number oh van CLE came back vanle back in I couldn't see him either Morrison Guided by ke he gets his spot can't get this one to go alesandro clears threatens he threatens Christensen with the ball watch out for allisandro he's looking for trouble he's 14 he's hitting everybody he sees and getting it back swish Nick to pan janon answers makes it an 1815 game the three-pointer helping the Raiders fineberg the jumper off the rim beautiful rebound but he traveled uh un necessarily started I
don't know what happened there he just started running around with the ball looked like he lost his footing a little bit underneath yeah must have John Van CLE turns it over to the Raiders we'll have it after this time out in a good timeout by Ashland coach Mark champagne very excited about his uh young Squad very excited about the progress of John iusi a junior and and uh David Morrison a junr who you know the they didn't play last year in my recollection if they did very very little right ad Ry played a little bit but not much just John Van CLE a sophomore getting a lot of time and he's got uh Shane Pas anonio playing his best uh he's played he's now a senior although we haven't seen much from Shane tonight but
no low post play no effort to to get it into him you might say no and in other games they seem like that's their game plan but tonight looks like they have other plans we'll see how it pans out for the clockers so iusi van CLE Christensen marison and fineberg for Ashland Ned L aan Co captain of the Raiders brings it up Ned at the ark dishes they get it into him and he makes that move and I guess he got fouled along the way that Charlie Stenhouse when he gets the ball it's going up he's not afraid to drive and he's a big sort of a Burly player he clears out [Music] Lefty too uh-uh subs for as and burns and Lao back [Applause] in clocker Crazy seem to finally have their voice heard
in that student section swish 1860 National leading by two no back court pressure here in the second quarter by either team van CLE to fineberg he elevates for the jumper and makes it 2016 that broke a 60 Raider run oh bad pass alesandro went [Applause] Baseline and uh Andreas kop just didn't see him Joe's got it but he's doubled underneath he squeezes it up that was a nice play by Alice Christenson but it didn't go in a hand no again Stenhouse couldn't get it to go oh sweet Jumper by Nick to pan janon looks like he's definitely a shooter he had a nice stroke on that didn't he 20 to 18 ashon leading by two both teams have had uh very close shots not go in Joe again from underneath this time he had a
little clearer path 2218 Ash leading by four oh quick Hands by Evan laau Subs Kei 22 for the Raiders and I don't think we've seen old number five before I don't think we have either cam F no excuse me Andy vanor Cam f is number five on Ashley Lan tricky dribbles and did he hit the line I guess he did did looked like he just barely did so good eyes from the official well Dad Lan's getting a little frustrated or he should be right 22 to 18 Ash leading by [Music] four did he walk no got f F the B got fouled who' they give it [Applause] to um oh they gave it to Ned linan yep 23 Ned linan go into Shane he turns into double traffic and Banks it in nice play from
Shane he was doubled but he just elevated above them and a nice bank shot is that his first points of the night it is wow Shane leading scorer of the clockers when hand open at the arc uh-uh hasn't been his half frustration can he have any points no points for one of the senior leaders that's tough It's hard you can't force it you want to force it you have to control yourself you want to get your points in the flow but you know that the team is depending on you to score and you've got no points in the first half Joe again on the low post this is something new just three times they've gone into Joe Burns in the low post and uh once he missed a once he had an airball once he
made a basket and this time he picks up a foul right he he can body up in there's yeah he knows what he's doing you know who called that we don't know oh Raiders called that 24 to 18 Ashley by six heading towards halftime the clockers and the Raiders from Ashlin High School Bob Thacker Travis upam bringing you tonight's game being played on January 8th 2013 Ashlin almost a must win for the clockers uh the Raiders a team that's winless in the tvl Clark is desperate to get to that 10- win mark to make the tournament they three and five as we quickly approach the halfway point in the season right and games like these are must- wins I would say because we play in a tough tough division it's been pretty even uh who
was that the coach uh the ad was telling me that you know Norton is undefeated I I I didn't know that until you just told me but I know they have a good squad Westwood uh Westwood is strong Midway is strong poppington's hanging in there Bellingham has a couple of wins so the league is has got some good teams and some uh balance now I assume this is a it is a two two shot foul the seventh foul on the Raiders ashin be shooting free throws from here on in although there just th three5 left to go until halftime Shane wants to check in but not right now yes he is in the game Joe taking his time swishes it 268 an eight-point lead clock has match their biggest lead of the night mleta brings
it up Stenhouse guarded closely by Pas Antonio they get it to him finally Shane mans up and he misses it and Shane gets the board good work by Shane Pas anonio went after that ball fearlessly that's what they need Lao open at the arc steps forward couldn't get it to go he wanted that one linan on the gallop coast to coast and two his first two of the night so he's off the schneide so watch out for him from here on in both guarded a little more closely they got Shane but he's not in a good spot Joey got it back they wheel it around ausi open far away crosscourt pass reaches him he drives Baseline dishes Joe squeezes it up and in Joey burn with nothing's going on outside Joey Burns knows what to
do on the inside 2820 he's played a good game here in the second quarter in a hand guarded by ausi gets by him gets a clean shot shot was too open I think he's wide open Burns takes it back rim Stenhouse with the board ah had to lahan who's walking it up or trotting it up I should say against labov we heard a whistle we don't understand it we weren't looking it was underneath the basket it's I guess against asham John rusi I believe John's numbers up there can't say I saw that one CH didn't see it either but underneath maybe he was getting a little too physical not not too sure no argument as ausi sits with two fouls nobody in foul trouble but you don't want to pick up that third pass quintonio
wrong to the hoop the soft shot doesn't go the B couldn't clean it up one more time Joey had it but Keef took it away from him frustrating put the clockers there [Applause] man you got to use that glass Travis right how many times have I told you that he told me that a lot either that or stuff it you know if you're not going to jam it you got to use the glass right I I think Shane had that on his mind when he first had that breakway until what the heck happened it looked like something it was the softest shot that you could imagine kopus I'm changing his name each time I me say it kopus Andreas Andy Andreas Andy contopus [Applause] this Keef is a gritty player 22 right he looks it
he wants to get involved more they're not looking for him on offense very physical player from what I've seen but he elbow he even elbows his own teammates he just gave stenos a shot because he was near Manning his territory didn't see exactly what happened but that's out of bounds and it's ashlin's ball 28-21 clock is leading by seven shot clock is off 25 seconds left in the first half and another whistle and Mark champagne wondering what's going on a mysterious foul underneath H did you see that no I didn't see a foul is was this a prior foul cuz how do we get 25 SEC 27 seconds there was a foul underneath over here we thought it was an out of bounds it was a one-on-one and that's what happened okay foul on there
was a foul on burns they let him take it in they let the clock has just put it in bounds and that was wrong it was should have been so they put the time back on the clock and that's they put the two seconds or whatever back and put them at the line and orders restored he makes them both too there's another bonus it's the biggest lead of the night nine points now there's 25 seconds in the left of the half I guess the Raiders want the last shot I think they'll take whatever they can get right now let's see if you're right it's hard to tell isn't it I don't see anything that looks like stalling but we're down to 6 seconds yeah boy he got a good shot out of that Andy kopus
and the Raiders have something to build on for the second half as kopus brings them to within 30 to 23 Ashen with a seven point halim lead 30 for ashin and 23 for Dover sherban and uh a good first half a good second period and uh things got uh off to a slow start in the first uh quarter but uh we saw some good basketball and uh some good action after that clock is ending up with 30 points at halftime the second half is coming up in 10 seconds stay with us you're watching ashin High School Varsity Sports on ashin television you're watching waca TV and we're back here at Ashlin high school and I'm going to read off the first half high scores for Ashlin we had Joe Burns with 10 points Shane Pas
anonio added two Max fineberg had four points John iusi had two Evan leov adding two David Morrison with three three-pointers nine points John Van cleff adding one and as for do Sherburn Steve alisand with six points Nick tupen janon six points uh Ned linan with two Charlie Stenhouse with five and Andreas conpus rounding out the DS Squad with five points and we're underway Raiders ball the boys have changed sides Ed lenan let watch him in the second half and uh see if he gets it going he's 20 three for the Raiders and their Captain had just two points in the first half Stenhouse who had five in the first half not in the game tup janon has had six points in the half he's number 15 and allisandro had six he's number 14 I think
those boys are both in the game and Brian Morrison uh Brian Thompson I should say 12 has returned for the Raiders fights for position but Shane beats him couldn't miss it and now Thompson clears I'd play that Thompson Travis 12 tough and he can do that and that's all you want from your big man underneath especially a young sophomore right and that that big body for Shane underneath I don't understand why he didn't play so much in the first half but we'll see how they use him in the second too far under leov and a good bot slipped and they say that alesandro fouled him I don't know may have just slipped and looked like a foul well clockers will take that one what what what burns in bounds ayusi finds a way 3225 Ash
leading by seven they L it seven at halftime 30 to 23 L aan against laau they double [Applause] him the drive that's a pretty nice play by Ben mleta who was very quiet in the first half nice play and as we see Johnny bringing the ball up right now you you talked about the long sleeve look and he looks like he's ripped off the sleeves for the second half well you know it's not that cold a night and I I think John felt they were restricting his flow to his shooting hand a blood flow he only had he hardly shot at all in the first half and only had two points now already has equaled his first half total Burns leading all scores with 10 at the half a prayer front rim trying to get
creative with that one guess he wanted a foul I guess mleta feeling it coach must have told him hey get involved will you right his first points of the game right there clocker lead is down to three John thought about it and the boys are pushing underneath and uh this referee's calling it uh Travis right not we're watching the ball we're not exactly seeing it is but there's been a lot of rough stuff underneath and he's he's pretty much sick of it and he's calling it been a very physical game so far so interesting to see how the ref handle it that foul went against went against Brian Thompson the big nice bucket pushes the lead to five Metta lost his dribble gets it back ultimately good defense by John Van clef now he's wide
open Stenhouse couldn't get that one to go uh-uh not close Metta with a move and a foul on van CLE so a whole new offense for the Raiders in the first half with uh Ben mlet as the point guard right was trying to shake things up a little bit throw some different looks at the clockers see how he handled it defensively alesandro hasn't been back in the game since he lost his temper a little bit right looks like coach wants to send him a little [Applause] message and Shane seals that Bard John from the ark thought about it steps back now ask for help gets it from Van cleff leau wants to drive couldn't tried to thread it into Joey at the ark he sets the shooter is bounced Joe Burns that's a three Ashlin
has that seven-point lead back 37 to 30 there's that lucky clock a roll mleta dishes takes a long two back rim gets it back resets a fresh shot clock 30 second shot clock in high school Stenhouse in a good spot you know in the left-hander even better from that side right very very hard for anyone to block that one sten's a very physical player underneath yeah he's Burly you know and uh you know with him in a left-hander and having that kind of position uh very difficult for Shane to defend oh tough to defend definitely probably shouldn't have taken the foul if he could avoided it but In the Heat of the Moment you go for the block right just his second foul on pasono oh and there's a steal by malleta he's all by
himself he takes it all the way and fineberg bats it out of bounds nice SWAT coach champagne wants Alex Christensen back in the game and John Van CLE has been asked to return to the bench [Applause] letter and linan in the back court I guess for the Raiders good Baseline move air ball that did not reset the shot clock cuz it didn't hit anything there he is again in his spot this one rolls out I think he had too much of a move that time he shouldn't have just laid it in right right instead of all that leaning and twisting too fancy just put it right up somehow they still end up with it must have went off a clocker allisandro back in the game and makes a sweet move to mark his return ashen's
lead is down to two third period action the clockers in the Raiders from ashin high school Bob Thacker and Travis upam today's game being played on January 8th 20133 a traveling call that hesitation move on fineberg no argument for Max no it doesn't do any good but uh I don't really see I didn't really see that as a travel just cuz he wound up doesn't mean his feet were moving right a little hesitation move yeah raid is with a chance to tie or take the lead off the backboard but doesn't get any Rim clock is clear John Aus lost his dribble turns down the three they swing it to fineberg who elevates for the jumper uhuh Shane's really fighting for position underneath and it's tough on Stenhouse mlet again this is a three the Raiders
Take the Lead 3837 a and trailing by one I would say it's time to find Ben mleta on defense wouldn't you TR I would agree with that now Sandra goes for the steel nice Jo hit was all set for that shot but hit nothing linahan with a tough pass now he takes a three great form Ned linan timeout clockers the Raiders have built a fourpoint lead 4137 after trailing by seven at halftime wow so what does that mean they've outscored Ashley and D carry the one 18-7 since the halftime tough way to start for the clockers tough third period whole new offense like you said and it's been working for him very well we were we're playing that badly we had a 37-3 lead and the Raiders have scored the last 11 points and the
last two have been those big threes right just like you said earlier with when David Morrison came in and gave us that Advantage with with his three balls they changed the game they really do see if coach champagne brings Dave in to answer momentum clearly with Ds right now we see how the boys respond you know you have you know he sat a couple of players and they really came back as better players right you know you Metta had a lot of bench time in the first half a co- Captain he couldn't have lik that but he came out inspired in the second half and right we saw alesandro come back out for a little bit after he lost his temper made two nice play right so good coaching tactic and it looks like it's
working out for him and the veteran linan 23 of course after a rough shooting first half uh knew his shots would come and they have started to come here in the second half so the clockers have their work cut out from him they're down four they've regrouped after the timeout John I arusi I think that t-shirt might be underneath there still no I know I think he cut it off just ripped off he's like the Hulk perhaps during a a vivid halftime pep talk or something to inspire the club just to inspire you guys I'm going to rip off the sleeves of my trademark long sleeve t-shirt just like we thought Dave Morrison and maybe to answer those three balls yeah let's see if David has any instructions fineberg that time he might oh what
a sweet move by Shane pass to Antonio beautiful move inside that's just what we needed and quick a quick move mleta lost it got bailed out no good mleta fights for the board but it's white ball back quick pressure now we haven't seen that since the first period John down the lane nice move but the release was not good over the basket mlet against Burns oh oh what a beautiful pass and one Brian and moleta to Ben moleta I should say to Brian Thompson what a beautiful play leted him like a receiver beautiful play and we didn't know if Brian Thompson had it in him offensively but yeah just took the one step that was the key to that play right if he hesitated in any way he would have traveled does not convert the
three-pointer ktoa skyed for that rebound and kept it alive for a while but Shane settled it down and cleared the boards Morris too deep gets out to the corner they find him John's underneath they kick it out fineberg elevates for his jumper uhuh Shane pass quintonio Shane's there to clean it up 4341 ashh trailing by to the third period is coming to an end there's just 5 seconds left mleta Banks it in and it's good if it goes it doesn't good try and it's 4541 into three a great third period for the Raiders as let's see now I try to figure this out they had 23 points so they had a very very nice 22o quarter Ashlin had 11 and that gives the Raiders a four point lead after they trailed by seven at halftime
this one's going right down to the W right I don't know what was said in that locker room but something sh fired him up they came out looking a totally different Squad giving Ashen some problems here well the coach of the Raiders is a guy named Rick Grady and he knows what he's doing and his assistant is a good guy as well KC pots the Ashen coach is Mark champagne I think he's in his third year this Yep this is his third year made the tournament last year with a thrilling uh last second win on their 20th game I think wasn't it uh yeah I believe uh 19th or 20th one of the last games but Tim jwi with a buzzer beater and that gave them the 10 wins they needed to get in the
tournament hoping to get in with a little more ease than last year and that was the first time in a long time chis was good just to get back there just to get exactly right Steve linahan is his assistant along with Matt messia The Freshman coach Kevin o Boy The Varsity assistant Steve Lan actually the JV coach8 minutes left clock is down four same lineup Morrison stays in hasn't really had it it's been Shane Pas anonio time another great move and this time he'll get a free throw as well brings the clock is to within two Shane really came into his own at the end of that third period with several spectacular K mes from the low post right he's feeling it now first half we didn't see much action from him but looks like
they're finally coming to their senses and giving him the ball he makes the three-point play clockers are within [Applause] one mleta to Stenhouse Up and Under and one Charlie stanhouse with a wish and a prayer and it went down he knew he had been foued it's just a question of throwing something up threw it up and it went in for [Music] him makes a three-point play to answer Pas Antonio's three-point play clock has are still down four after all is said and done ausi had an opening for a second but it gots swallowed up Shane on the high post was fouled at the arc by Stenhouse Stenhouse doesn't like that call it's only his first foul how can that be yeah for a physical player like him you think he'd have several he disagrees see
what the clockers do here on the stack it goes to Shane at the ark they swing it to Morrison Into Shane what happened went off Shane's hands yep Shane Pats his chest and says that was all me I thought it was deflected yeah I did too it looked like I was deflected but it was deflected of Shane's own hands moleta dishes over the top blocked by was that burns or Max fineberg is second of the game oh and who made that play linahan he ended up with it jeez two good steals a good great block by ashon and then a great steal down the the other end by Ned Lan of the Raiders who drives the lane blocked by Pas anonio nice play by Shane read that one perfectly Clark is trailing four six and
a half to go in this game Shane inside doubled and tripled and they throw it away and was sandel and Keef are getting ready to answer reenter for the Raiders when play resumes but someone has called a timeout I believe it was do Sherin yes so 48 for the Raiders 44 for the clockers we lose the time when they go to the timeout but I think it's around 6 minutes left to play right I believe around 6 6 um 6:30 to go but so what do you tell your team here on this time out I'm not sure it looks like the the clockers want to set up their offense and look like they're ready to go but they keep making these bad passes miscommunications turnovers well if they're going to double Shane and he doesn't
have a way uh someone's going to be open you got to find them you got to have outside Shooters in right and uh fineberg can get a shot off Morrison I don't know I guess they're guarding the arc on him now and uh I don't know if he gets it he's got to release it quickly cuz they Clos on on him fast right I think it was a surprise to them when he first came in and started nailing those threes and now they're ready for him but not in right oh he is right in right now I'm sorry same lineup Burns Morrison a rusi Pas anonio and fineberg burns on allisandro 14 on 14 Keith can't find a way Ned linahan goes backwards alesandro finds a shot he forced it pass gonio clears the boards
throws the bows back comes Ashley Shane for three uh-uh lenan had the [Applause] board hesitation move by mleta he earned that foul kind of a shame cuz that was going to be a mighty tough shot oh I know it looked like Shane had the read on it and was going to swat that away but foul called they gave it to Burns timeout Ashland 536 to go clock is still in that four-point hole that they were in at the start of this final period let's see who we got over there at this at the trademark equipment scorers table looks like uh we got Mr mosh over there Steven moshkovitz Y what does Steve teach English English teacher here at ashon High School great teacher is he also uh is he also like an ultimate frisbee coach
of some sort Ultimate Frisbee Coach and he's been doing this for years he does a great job over there he's accompanied by Andy rund and um Mr cret I believe over there um Mr cret is he a teacher no I think he just does this yeah volunteer work I'm not sure who it's not easy over there you know you got to keep track of the shot clock the game clock the timeouts who's uh the number of the player that committed the foul how many team fouls whose timeout it is right I could remember one of the games it was a girls game against hackington and they lost with there was 7 seconds left a girl got a shot off and one and a lot of the blame was put on the clock yes that's a
tradition yes if you lose a tough game you blame the clock keep why did you push that button so I almost forgot about him having these two free [Applause] throws missed the first after that timeout he's got one more ra is 48 clock is 44 five and a half to go in this game Letta settles down and makes the second it's a fivepoint Raider League their biggest of the night fineberg as he likes to do air balls this one Burns blocked underneath by kedus CL let her in no hurry now cler's desperate for a stop right now oh oh oh oh oh oh Joe Burns pushed Ben moleta Ben didn't like it either even though the foul was on Joe Burns and now more conversation looks like they're getting into it a little bit Yeah
Raiders will inbound Keith I don't think he's shot yet tonight no he hasn't he's a hustler though mleta against fineberg goes by him the beautiful dish toas for the basket beautiful [Applause] play mleta to contus clockers are down seven now they've got to get a basket here to get some momentum and it went to the right guy who got fouled motivated Joe Burns To The Hoop picks up the foul on uh let's see they're going to give that one to tupen janon is third nobody with more than three right CH nope not that I have Joey very calmly sinks the point to bring the clock is to within six Keef is out linan is backed in BR Tom number 12 is back in two free throws for Joe Burns perfect from the line tonight what's
he got uh's seven for seven or I'm sorry six for six what's he got about 17 points 16 points 15 points right now the Fall Away just tickled the twins a great effort but it's asham ball clock is a down five fineberg will bring it up himself he sees a wide open to the oop he took it but he missed the shot but got fouled nice aggressive move from The Freshman right there I don't think Max could believe that lane he had there was nobody too good to be true but sealed off at the end and he he's at the line for two yeah no question he got bumped C makes the first three straight free throws from Ashen have brought them back to within four Keef is back in tupen janon is out and
is that yeah that's that Charlie Stenhouse 3 25 he's back in two free throws four in a row for the clock as they've cut the Raider lead to three ashen's trailing by three points fourth period action M letter at the ark they get pasquantonio on him and that kind of let Charlie Stenhouse have a little more room underneath didn't it right set up the and one right there as he drew the foul great game from Charlie Stenhouse tonight what was that do you understand that were they trying to give uh mlet a hard time a harder time by putting Pas Antonio out there or did just happen a three-point play clockers now Trail six under four to play John ausi who started strong in the second half has not taken a shot in a long
long time Shane at the arc fineberg all the way and one great Play From The Freshman right there real aggressive tonight Max uh likes the jumper but he'll go to the hoop right he's a fighter and this kid is going to be a stud in the future I think yeah he's a he's got a good build misses that free throw oh it was sitting there looking for someone but the Raiders picked it up Ashen has cut the lead to four clock is trailing by four oh and mleta throws it away good defense by Joe [Applause] Burns now the clockers have a chance to cut into this four-point lead David Morrison he's been quiet here in the second half had three threes in the first half pass Antonio ausi they swing it to Morrison didn't feel
comfortable Weinberg bang wow Max fineberg Max always feels comfortable shooting confident you know when you have that elevation on your jumper you can get the shot off against most Defenders good and that's what Max has that's what Timmy JWT had last year right very rare in a freshman he did not call that they're counting it anyway they should take it off I think didn't call it shouldn't get the points Andreas kedus launches one it Banks it home from the arc John decided to drive and he's going to go to the line I'd like to see a little more of that right he's hesitant to drive and he's hesitant to shoot the three he he's a smart passer though he's a smart passer and he hustles and that's what that's what they like about he plays
virtually every minute right quarterbacking this club calmly sinks the first sub Keith is out been janon steps back in just 233 to play John iusi trying to make this a two-point game yes he does Clark is Trail two no backcourt pressure mleta walks it up over the 10sec line he's got uh fineberg on him now clar is mixing up their defense it's a man-to-man defense it's Charlie Stenhouse did he walk he did Charlie put that one on his hip for a minute a second I should say and uh that resulted in the stroll see if the clockers can tie it up here they're down two [Music] [Applause] nice pass by Morrison chain pass quintonio ties it up time out what a play by Shane pantonio nice move Morrison got it into him and Shane didn't
hesitate you know he didn't wait to be doubled tripled or whatever or to have them St slapping and hacking right he's got a quick move a quicker move than I saw the last couple of years and smoother right and I think that's a sign of you know being a senior now he knows this is this is his team now the more you play the better you [Applause] are the clocker fans joining in in the traditional I believe chant and they've become patriotic this season with an American flag we did bring those last year the props right now uh and there's a Cowboy head in the crowd as well got mixed group I like it 5757 is the score when we come out of this timeout it's going to be Raiders ball under their own basket
Al look St fineberg for a second looked like he might apply a little backcourt pressure but he backs away now across the timeline comes moleta linahan Stenhouse in his spot fronted by Pas Antonio Morrison with the defensive play the boys fight it's a jump ball mlet and Morrison and burns it's a jump which way is it pointing it stays Raider ball mleta involved in another confrontation before at the end of that play that was an important position you didn't want to give it up Stenhouse that wasn't his spot and he couldn't get that one to go clockers with a chance to take the lead minute and a half to go game tied [Applause] [Music] Jesus Morris open for a split second wouldn't launch it I'm seeing a little hesitation Morrison open takes it oh it's
the rim won't go the rebound bounces around the Raiders have it they'll have a chance to take the lead coming up to one minute left in the [Applause] game mleta guarded by fine Stenhouse from his side of the Court hits the short jumper to give the Raiders the [Applause] lead clock has finally created a shot for Mars and he's open now didn't want to take it fineberg answers ashy takes the lead it's a three-pointer 36 seconds left ashon leading by one M letter against fineberg mleta goes airball ahead to Burns off the pasquantonio rebound lit a hand against Burns count it no looked like a charge what's the call it's a charge against Joe Burns offensive blockers you know linahan had the position it looked like charge all the way to me but I could
not see an official's call I didn't see the hand go to the back of the head like you usually do both teams in the penalty situation raid is actually in the double bonus situation but this will be an Ashland one and one I believe when play resumes I mean uh Raider a Raider 101 and the Raiders take a timeout 22 and a half seconds left in the game Ashley 60 The Raid is 59 can't write a better script than this for the boy the clock has had a chance there Lan uh took a great position on Joe Burns oh he did that was he had a lot of time to take that position and he set up right took a Char Joe went right into him taking charges is not something everyone can do but
no and it's not and it's it's so thankless cuz you know 80% of the time it's not called right and you've got to really have that position it's not one eyelash you've got to take that position can't be moving at all got to be in position but tough tough break for the clockers there that could have given them a little space they still lead in the game by one point but when play resumes is it going to be a one-on-one sure believe I believe one in one could be wrong we just have to wait and see I guess I didn't see anyone going to the line still talking over the scorers table there to clarify some things so [Applause] no they just take it out okay is that a rule on the offensive foul must
be huh I guess so so we'll see what the Raiders do here 22.5 seconds now labov has entered the game after a long spell on the bench for his defensive ability fineberg on mleta they thread It to Charlie Stenhouse how did he get that open he lays it in Raiders lead by one 8 seconds left ayusi 5 Seconds four three Morrison front rim we got a call we got a call I think they're giving him a timeout for a timeout from the I think they gave ausi a timeout and they're going to get three three o what are you do now this is that delicate area where some say you can't get a shot off point you know that and without the benefit of the instant replay uh right the best bet might be a
little lob up to Shane and try to tap it in I don't know if you have any other choice do you yeah let's see they'll be inbounding right under the Raa basket so they're as close as you can be it's going to have to be a touch I don't know there's not time to to shoot is that what you're saying right he's got to right when it's got to skim off his hand a shot usually at least five seconds you need at least a half a second to grab the ball catch and shoot but we've seen some crazy things here in thisum I don't know if I I dreamt this or what but I I actually had in my mind that there was sort of an informal rule if it was3 or less no shots
could count regardless of when really you know what I mean I don't know I I know that that sounds logical to me but I I don't know that I've heard that so we'll see what's happen because the pressure here was going to be on uh msh right right to start that clock fineberg is going to inbound undoubtedly to Pas Antonio who they've sealed from the hope it's good if it goes it doesn't go everything worked perfectly and changed shot did not fall in wow he got through two men got his hands on the ball above them both put it up right to the hoop and it just took a bad bounce and this one is over and the Raiders have Come Away with a 61-60 win over Ashland in a thrilling finish tonight at hashin
high school wow crazy finish to that game boys shake hands with each other and the officials in a very very hardfought game that got physical at times referees uh started calling a lot of fouls under the basket and that kept it under control I'd have to say although no one was in foul trouble oh right interesting very physical game but no one was in foul trouble Raiders get their first tvl win of the year they go to three and five the clockers fall to 3 and six a tough tough heartbreaking loss for Ashlin tonight at Ashlin High School the postgame show is coming up in 10 seconds stay with us you're watching Ashen High School Varsity Sports you're watching waca TV back out here at ashon high school a thrilling thrilling game tonight with a
sad ending the clock has fall to the DS Raiders the final score uh DOA Sheran 61 and Ashley and 60 a tremendous game tonight the clockers jumped out to a 30- 23 halftime lead uh it was a sluggish start to the game but the clockers look to be in control uh the Raiders look to have some issues some Personnel issues some players uh losing their composure uh linahan their Captain was shut down their other Captain uh uh Ben mleta hardly played in the first half I didn't know what the story was and Ashlin had a seven-point lead and that was only thanks to a basket the Raiders made at the very end uh before halftime but the second half was a complete change and this has happened to Ashley in several times this year the
Raiders came out had a huge third period took the lead and um that left the it down to a four-point lead going into the fourth period and it was a furious fourth period and uh the clock has came all the way back and took a one-point lead on a three-pointer to lead 60 to 50 n going into the final seconds and uh a rugged kid um for the Raiders named uh Charlie Stenhouse and I still don't understand that play he was the most alone of any player that was the most open shot of the entire game maybe the only open shot of the entire game and Stenhouse went down the lane and laid it in and uh that turned out to be the game winner the clockers had one last chance and it was a
great last chance they ran that play perfectly perfectly they had they only had three left and uh well you know it was a good final 8 seconds uh they got David Morrison uh a shot he didn't make it but uh John iusi a headyy heady player got a timeout with three left and they tossed it into Shane and it just rolled out just in and out Heartbreaker and you got the stats for the night right I got the top scorers Okay so for do Sheran Raiders Ben malleta had six points Brian Thompson the big man adding four Steve allesandro had eight Nick tupen janon with six points Ned linahan with five Charlie Stenhouse having a big night 15 points from him uh Andreas kapitus with 10 and for the clockers Joe Burns with 15 a
game high Shane Pas Antonio 13 Max fineberg adding 14 John iusi had seven Evan leov adding two David Morrison still with those three threes all in the first half nine points and John vanle adding another one point from the free throw line you know uh Ben mleta made a big difference in the second half uh for the Raiders and uh and I liked Brian Thompson the number 12 I liked him the whole game he didn't play that much but I thought he was effective when he was out there and gave uh pas Antonio uh something to think about right under those boards and uh linan played a good floor game you might say though he didn't score tonight and Charlie Stan also had 15 points including the gamewinner didn't start either half no right yeah
the Raiders have some players oh they do they do they have some good pieces we'll see if they can yeah yeah put them together right for ashy Joey brd's played a very smart game he's now able to to actually get the ball in the low post and create opportunities and score points or at least get to the free throw line and get points that way and Shane Pas anonio in the first half they didn't go to him the second half they did and boy what a difference that made he made nice plays and uh he has really smoothed out his game from what I saw last year uh great great moves and uh he was tough defensively all night and uh of course he's big on the boards but uh he showed some great offensive
mov oh he did and that last second shot like we talked about just just missed I also get to see Max fineberg for the first time this season this my first boys game and and Max can really get that jump shot off right what an offensive player he is yeah he made some big plays tonight and uh and I thought John ayusi played a nice game all around game he I think he needs to look for his shot a little more we'll see if he does as the season goes on but everyone can't be a scorer right everyone still plays aggressively but we'll see we'll see what David Morrison just couldn't get open for that three in the fourth period he finally had a chance Under Pressure rushed at the very end of the game
and got off a good shot but front rimmed it and John vanle had some good moments as well as did Alex Christensen and Evan laau so a tough one tonight but a great game is a great game here every Tuesday and Friday boys or girls take your pick uh right here at the ashin High Gym basketball is Tuesdays and Fridays hockey is Wednesdays and Saturdays for the boys the girls play uh the girls schedule is not online you'll have to call the ad's office to get that girls hockey out in malbro also a very very good take the Ashland High School swim team swims at ke Tech you can find their schedule online as well so a great night here all the only thing left is the Travis upam player of the game and that's
going to go to Joey burns with a great effort tonight gritty player and uh yeah like we talked about we we know he can shoot the ball we know he has a great stroke but to see him take the ball inside and be aggressive inside another weapon that we can have and don't forget he usually has to guide the toughest player on the other team to defensively because he's a good defensive player so that's a lot of responsibility plus he plays almost every minute right he handles it all very well great game by uh Joe Burns that's going to do it uh so our thanks to Brennan Marlo Dan Baker Conor dunan and tonight's game directed by Matt Jenna and produced by Paul Bowden I'm Bob Thacker this is Travis upam thanks for watching we'll
see you next time he [Music]
