001all right welcome clocker fans it's uh January 19th we're back here for the second half of the home and home against Hopkinson uh Co with me now is coach Mark champagne the boys coach uh coach here we got a two- game win streak going we're starting the second half of the Season exciting win against Medfield the other night how's it going uh much better I think uh the boys should have more confidence the first time we've really won back-to-back games like that uh the league being as competitive as it is I think the team that comes into a game with confidence certainly has an edge hopton's 8-2 so they're probably feeling real good about themselves as well but I think this is a good opportunity for us to get back to 500 play a very
002good team and continue on a good path to uh becoming a better basketball team which I think we are doing now well hopefully uh Hopkins will be taking you for granted tonight it's a big arch rivalry here but uh they coach well on the other side so it's unlikely there'll be a s [Music] well Steve the crowd is definitely fired up for this game tonight what do we got for uh lineups here well we have no we've got uh a uh a our clocker boys uh right now at 5- six overall uh four and five in the tvl uh we've got against a uh I think a tough hackington opponent here at uh 8-2 overall 8-1 in the tvl so big game for the uh for the clockers certainly uh coming after a big win
003in Medfield 55 to to 47 so uh let's see if they can uh uh keep the intensity we start off the second half of the Season here so it's a big game for asan we'll see what the clock is can do Shane tipping it off against George thle couple big men and the steel right away and iusi brings the ball up always a big tilt here against Hopkinson so it should be an exciting [Applause] game Shane gets the ball goes right to the rim no call Hopkinson running it right [Applause] back oh we got a take away there mberg couldn't do anything with it underneath Joe Burns ripped it away from him ayusi setting up the offense the Burns in the corner cross cour to ayusi takes the three oh off the rim Shane almost
004got that rebound knocked out of his hands and that's picked Off With a Little Help from Joe Burns we got a very quick paced uh activity here back and forth no score burns out to leov takes a shot bang and we got a three Ash land up 3-0 clock a strike first Hank Ruden got up top for Hopkinson running the place trying to get the ball down low to their big man George thisle Shane all over him needs to throw it back out a nice collapse there in the [Applause] middle thisle from the foul line he he gets his two above be that press you a new set of refs here St but I think we had a loose ball there mark so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt long range shot doesn't
005go Shane tips it grabs it oh that was Joe burn looks like we've got ashin ball BRS grabbed the rebound gets knocked out ashon keeps a possession and we're right to the full courtt pressure here Steve yes we are and they break that very quickly big man Shane triple team Burns top of the key finds iusi in the corner nice ball movement here mark back to Joe who takes a three-pointer and buries it all right ashin 6-2 530 left in the first quarter here thisle takes a long range thought that doesn't go Ashland rebound so with 5 minutes left we got 6-2 Ashland score and CLE with a nice rebound nice to see the big man shooting outside definitely going to help pass van CLE gets it throws it up toss to the floor no
006foul Ashland recipient of the rebounds and iusi is going to go to the rim oh we got a blocking foul on the floor so no shot Ball's taken out underneath well they're letting him play here a little bit tonight huh so far it's Friday night at the fights here Steve kidding me Rolland Munch with his first foul oh you got a sub coming in for hopkington burns finds van Clee up top gets it back nice pass by Le into van CLE who gets the ball to Shane but that's doesn't go burns with the steel knocks it out of bounds and hopkington ball on their side of the Court looks like four roughly 440 left in the first quarter tipped out by Ashland pass Antonio reaches over mulberg tips it out this kid mberg is a
007frost for Hopkinson yeah Steve he's only a junior too seems to me he's been around for like five or six years now but well they've got some uh they've got some good height they've got uh some 65 6'4 we got a three-point above with the rebound tries to throw it long now iusi but it gets picked off Evans got to pull that down and slow down the play hington basket gets that rebound and gets to himself above a cross courau to iusi looks like he's going to go all the way and I think he's going to get called for the [Applause] offensive offensive [Applause] foul well and Munch will bring it up all of a [Applause] sudden I like this nice another nice rebound by Van C I like this defense they're playing they're collapsing
008inside they're boxing out not giving him easy shots above buries another three other thing here on the offense Hopkinton showing no respect to John iusi and just putting two guys fulltime on Shane Pas Antonio long range shot oh a three for hopkington by Andrew McMillan goes we've got the full core press again mark Burns tries to dribble through gives it to ausi Burns gets it back over to labove Shane on around three-point land and there's ausi alone again across to joov set up the three puts it up and go so both Burns and Le both with two three pointers ashon leads 127 with 257 left in the first quarter another long range Bomb by Hopkinson that doesn't go but M rebound good Block ashin B van CLE knocks down that outlet pass and II's got
009the ball again John Van CLE immense underneath as a little man against big thistle 65 iusi goes to the rim and he's going to get fouled by thisle we're going to the line for Two Shots here Mark I think we've got a fired up uh boys team here I'm sure coach champagne had a long talk with him before the game game about how important this game was for him he misses the first one so we've got a 127 score with 237 left on the clock bu and Van Clee get a rest and uh we got Max fineberg and looks like David marrison in let's see how that impacts the defense good start for the clockers so far off we have a ball off of an Ashland foot yeah Joe Santa was a green foot but
010but ref didn't agree I from my from my viewpoint thisle gets the inbound pass turns around makes the easy 10-footer big man likes to shoot outside for hopon Joe looking for help marson's able to control that ball with the double on him Joe bring it up Max fineberg across to guess who all alone John iusi back to feberg long range doesn't go I like the ball movement though Mark good call against off of a that one went off the orange sneaka green and orange sneaker and that'll be ashlin's ball marrison to the rim oh no help off that Rim little hot off the glass the boys got back well though yeah they definitely has some back on D Shane straight up stops that shot gets the rebound nice effort by Pas anonio Max fineberg will
011bring it up now I know hopkinson's playing this Zone but you watch they leave ausi wide open and a double and down on Shane full time no question there Max tries to go to the rim loses control back out to Burns back out to ayusi wide open he shoots and gets knocked down in the corner no call a ref right in front of [Applause] him longwing shot knocked out by Morrison nice move by thistle to go Baseline get the rebound and toss it back up kid can play Steve yes he can so we got a 131 Mark with about 40 seconds left II nice move on Thistle and it goes for two in the foul John ausi feeling his oats I think you know they're they're giving him the opportunities I think he's upset he's
012not getting any respect so John's going to go to the line and try and convert the three-point play here so one shot with 35 left on the clock and that goes well done they oh we got a little pressure going on by the clockers huh nice Max just misses that steel mber down low yeah good ball movement there on the hillers and they they pick up a foul Alex Christensen playing some aggressive defense that's all right [Music] yeah so how's the scoring look are we fairly balanced here for the clockers and burns both with two threp pointers iusi with three and thistle running the show for Coach kean's hillas with six points so Mur gets makes [Applause] that nice a nice drive John ausi Again Last Shot coming up here for Hopkinson 4 seconds left
013long range bomb doesn't go and that's going to be the buzzer well played 1812 clockers well done and I think you're right Mr ausi here is uh is pumped coach champagne as the boys firing all cylinders right out of the locker room not their normal get up call so and I think our zebras are letting him play tonight what we got three Hopkinson team fouls and two for Ashland two for Ashland so uh the boys came came out firing tonight against a tough tough hopkington team uh but again uh you know this is a big game for the for the clockers four and five in the tvl right now so we might want to uh make note of uh of the purple project while we're in between Quarters here coming up at halftime we're going
014to have some events with uh uh three-point shots and half course shots and uh we we can elaborate a little bit more about what purple project or project is the boys had their purple project line uh warm-ups on tonight a lot of the fans get the purple on we're missing the uh ashlon pep band tonight don't know where they are maybe they have a uh concert somewhere I have to uh I have to uh tell you mark this is a uh enjoyable it's a pleasure I appreciate you asking me this is so much more enjoyable than a selectman's meeting and uh so thank you that gets knocked out of bounds yes folks for those of you that recognize that voice sitting next to me is chair of the selectman Steve Mitchell and you'll hear Steve
015commenting on some of these calls tonight because Steve's a former High School ref himself not sure what happened there Steve well it was tipped out we've got uh might had a clock reset I like this young freshman here fineberg kids got some ball handling skills gets the ball back loves to shoot yes he does got a nice leap there nice rebound by Morrison though back out to Johnny [Applause] ausi Shane's only got three guys on him back to marrison leov looks to shoot buries it good ball movement composed Evan feeling looking comfortable shooting tonight he's got eight already you got to like this defense Mark they're up on their toes and on the Hillis look at this they're all over them yeah no easy passes for the hillers tonight so far Shane draped on mberg
016got seven get inside oh nice pass but M can't finish tosses that over the rim good break for Ashland there Davey marrison tosses up the three that'll come off the front of the rim mberg pushing it up himself off the rebound oh look at that excellent hustle to get back good call by The Ref excellent hustle to get back on that defense I think if we were to replay that call though I think we'd see it went off of an asland foot but we're not going to point that out Mark you are the referee professional not me refereeing is all about positioning look at that ausi look to go inside back to Evan La who's four for four and 11 points and we have a time out by Hoppington coach Keane thinking that's that Timmy
017jart kid burying all those shots I have a confession to make the last time I was in this gym was last year's High School graduation when when Tim JW graduated okay he's moved on to Wentworth he's uh paying his du as a freshman getting a few seconds every here game or so but him yeah enjoying it is he the team yeah he enjoyed it yeah and how about the uh the books is how's that going good he's doing well his mother's very proud of him he had a good first semester excellent that's good to hear but uh coach Keane pulling a timeout after leub makes his four straight shot his 11th point ashon with a 2312 lead here a nice uh nice run uh the ball movement their their defense has been uh has been
018terrific I don't have any wood to knock on here Steve but I will say it's the best of the boys have looked all season and they they have they've struggled to come out fast in most of their games and they are clearly in Full Tilt here so Johnny rusi getting a break Hopkinson will try and change things up see if they can get some offense going going go back down to the big man got a scrum underneath of the ball jump ball and a GRE green possession out now when I was refereeing dick Bliss was the uh the boys coach if you remember dick I was going to say you have a stra uh subtle resemblance to Dick petta NBA referee that's a steal after made [Applause] basket Ashlin oh look at anyway Ashlin comes
019up with the ball I'm not quite sure what happened there mark but uh I saw a green body flying AC cross the paint but I'm sure it was on his own accord things getting a little sloppy here for both teams oh good quick timeout there yeah coach champagne not happy with the with the movement there last three sets so he'll settle the boys down yeah dick Bliss was the coach in hopkington uh when I was uh wearing the stripes and uh he was a uh at that time there were number of volatile head coaches in the league uh and I I count Smoky maazi as one of them dick Bliss as another there was quite a few and it was a uh pre I think MIAA sportsmanship Focus uh at that point but uh that
020might have been before political correctness was invented Steve it does go does go back a little ways you're right but uh you know I can I can tell you just my observation tonight about uh uh the way uh Sportsman ship is conducted today it's uh it's well done and uh it seems to be such a big Focus I'm looking up at the tri valley League sportsmanship award that uh Ashlin has won so we're happy to see the fans well behaved yet sharing on their teams vigorously so it looks like we've got five and a half minutes left in the second Ashland ball Hopkinson definitely trying to pick up the defensive pressure coach Keane specialty mberg draped all over Shane he's yet to get the ball underneath Max drives to the hoop knocked out of bounds
021we're going to have a referee conference and that's going to result in an Nation ball we love those types of conferences I confused as to what they can converse there it was there were only green players around the ball uh coach Keane appears to be confused about this call also Steve but nonetheless David Marson will take it out of bounds for the clockers 5'11 left ashon 23 Hopkinson 15 Shane a rear touch of the ball here as he's getting a lot of attention tonight there's John iusi all by himself having a sandwich he's going to put it up and bury it fre eventually coach Keane's going to have to adjust to that Steve and that opens up another element for the team long range Bomb by Roland Munch and he'll get I think that's called
022Tit for Tat mcho get three on that one [Applause] [Music] Max likes to shoot he does a head fake but gives it back to Burns yeah he had a second thought there he's all alone now he's going to look at The Rim gets it knocked away fires it across the Morrison in the corner six seconds up and a turnover thisle takes it away from Shane another low to his ankles pass is it going to work there Popkins sets up for the three doesn't get it marrison pulls down the rebound and gets banked in the back of the head the back of the head by Thistle and he'll get his second foul see those are the kinds of fouls that don't make sense calling and the reason is there's no advantage that was lost there he
023had the rebound what he did what the referee did was stop a potential fast break I don't agree with those types of calls that Inlet pass intercepted by Hopkinson and now we're going to get a reach in foul that look look like on H Joe Burns number 14 Joe's first foul as Hopkins and tried to get the ball down low thisle sitting on the bench now after picking up his second foul Shane unable to pull down that rebound Hopkinson swings the ball around mberg underneath he's a big load he's going to be tough to start but Shane does stop him and picks up the rebound great great rebounds oh offensive call offensive foul the young Max fineberg saw a wrinkle in the offense and went to the glass but he mowed someone down he's going
024to pick up the offensive coach a little concerned about Max's patience there giving him a little advice from the sideline still only eight total fouls here in in this game with three minutes left they're letting them play Steve these are two good teams it's good to see him play that crosscourt pass quickly defended against iy looking good tonight moving his feet there the whole defense is moving it's it's terrific [Applause] uh great great defense on that set Luke muscone and Hopkinson but thisle looks like he tossed that away yeah we got three minutes left in the uh in the half a him with a eight-point lead 2618 Max fineberg will bring the ball up might be a little more cautious this time he gets it back got to wonder what happened there Steve so Hopkinson
025player tries to draw the offensive burns with the long range shot doesn't go fber gets it [Applause] backi out hustling right now feberg again in and out shanane had that rebound but it's ripped out of his hands by Hank Ruden good defense there gets it back he'll take the three that doesn't go Shane to ayusi in the rebounds ausi pushes it up to fineberg fineberg try to set up the offense Joe waiting for people to get set up now mberg all over him that ball laid into Shane Shane turns around with the pup can't get it to go good pass inside though Shane so far held scoreless tonight but I say he's doing a great job on mberg underneath shuts him down again little fancy dribble by fineberg out to ausi in the corner Burns
026looking to get the ball though reach in foul Shane and he gets fouled instead still not a shooting foul so we've got uh asham ball under on the sideline I believe Ruden picks up his first hopkinson's 15 foul br will inbound it 136 left on the clock Morrison fires up the three doesn't go tipped out by Shane thr thrown away by Hopkinson coach Keane sits down after that he is on fire over there Steve I I suspect there's going to be some uh strong language in the H in the hopkington locker room halftime good to see The Hop the ashin boys are definitely out playing there across down Rivals the hill is [Applause] tonight and he dribbled out of bounds B's not going to like that call he's getting mugged over there in front of
027the Hopkinson bench Hopkinson will bring it up minute 11 left ashon 26 Hopkinson 18 both teams have uh cooled down the shooting last minute or [Applause] so and Ashlin settled into their Zone yep no shot what do we get here that's something champagne doesn't like we had a push uh I think off the ball that's the first foul on David Maron we got a new shot clock champagne confused how that can get called and other things [Applause] can't Hopkinson Larry to shoot here throwing the ball around but but they're not getting any shot off that doesn't go marrison reaches over to get the rebound away from two got 30 seconds and here we go we got a fast break Max drives pulls it up to shoot doesn't make it that ball tipped up and out
028Ashland ball underneath with 22 seconds BRS pulls down the rebound but it got knocked out by the Hopkinson player shot clock is off 22 left see if it looks like coach champagne is really working the sidelines there In and Out friends can't convert that boys got to turn around stop this last shot for Hopkinson long range doesn't go we got the time that a rebound 5 seconds left Max looking to go to the rim here puts it up doesn't go van CLE gets the rebound but he can't get it to drop great effort this first half terrific half so at the end of two quarters here it's 26 ashin 26 Hopkinson 18 and as coach champagne asked for some clarifications from the refs we're going to go to halftime and you'll get to see some
029of the purpple project activities and uh we'll be right back you're watching waca TV all right welcome back clock of fans w waca TV we're here live at Ashlin High School my name is Mark JW I'm here with my special co-host tonight and col commentator Steve Mitchell thank you Mark it's pleasure to be here always good got an exciting game going on uh it looks like uh the clockers uh came fired up this this uh this evening certainly did clock is lead 2618 here yeah you know and if we can get a few a few decent calls from the refs tonight I think we'll be uh we'd be in good shape right don't say that when he's so close to the table we're doing fine we were just he was just criticizing the the uh
030all right Ashton's going to take it out down by the table here Evan labov leading the score for the clockers with 11 points John ausi left alone all first half yep what do he John had nine points he's got nine points that's correct so we'll see if coach Keane makes some adjustments [Applause] here they'll spent a lot of time focusing on oh we had a double dribble turn over on Ashland Hillis has spent a lot of time focusing on Shane Pas anonio tonight and have kept them off the board but that's not put the hillers in the game yet no but I think ashlin's exploited that Prett pretty [Applause] well this will back in gets the ball throws it up misses the first one but gets it back and tosses down the second one this
031will really hopkinson's only threat tonight but he's already got three fouls so let's see if uh the boys can exploit that oh we got a turnover it looks like uh the hillers came out with that full court press all right Hopkinson slows things down and sets it up Han Ruden trying to get some offense going and we're going to get a call here from uh what happened not quite sure what that call was but it goes over I think we might have got a 5-sec call there he didn't Advance the ball that's not going to make Keane happy definitely immediate double teaming on the got a lot of trapping so that means there's a man open correct there a couple man open that's right knocked out of bounds by Hopkinson Hank Ruden takes a dive
032into the Hopkinson bench well certainly seems like coach Keane uh read the riot act at has the halftime hillers have definitely picked up the defensive intensity John iusi gets free puts it up off the glass for two another two points 2820 Ashland [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we've got a foul a pushing [Applause] foul the hopkington ball on the side some nice sportsmanship there with iusi helping the Hiller player up I think he squeezed his hand when he pull him up so he can't shoot Ste that's a first on John Van CLE first on Ashland another long range Bomb by hopkington misses it all but mberg is there to clean up the mess and he gets [Applause] two nice pass by Shane to labub making it to the two points for the clock above five for five
03313 points tonight 3022 clockers [Applause] Hinson working around back out to thistle at the foul line he misses long rebounds Shane unable to haul that in with all the traffic he's got but tips it over to ayusi and he'll push the ball up for Ashland ashon definitely not being intimidated by Hopkinson size and Norther press they're handled it very well thus far ausi wide open again he'll go to the glass this won't go he doesn't get any help from The Ref and the green will push it up the floor Ruden tosses it back for a long range bomb again no good Burns pulls down the rebound Outlets to ausi and El out the offense over again oh John B CLE turns around and shoots nobody touching him Mark you got to like the way they're
034moving the ball up the court quickly and getting an open shot [Applause] Hopkinson seeing no openings this zone is really uh they're doing a terrific job knocked Away by Shane picked up by thistle knocked Away by Burns four seconds on the clock hin last that's a that's a shot clock violation see that's a second sh clot violation Haring tonight great defense by Ashlin so far you realize there's a 10-point Ashlin in lead right now 3222 that's right coach Keane arms cross and he pulls the boys back to the seats to have a little talking to all right so let's give the fans an update here it's 3222 Ashen leads quick start again for this third quarter Ashen 64 uh Advantage so far but definitely the momentum got the momentum and and we've got uh you
035know I wouldn't describe it as balance scoring but they're finding the Open men and those Open men tonight are number four labov EV labov and number 35 hausi both have 11 points if my Cal is correct 13 and 11 13 and 11 yeah and I was when I was over at the table at halftime Steve I heard coach ooy say they had to get uh van CLE to get some points and take some shots he's been open where he's got the ball and this time as you saw soon as he got he turned around and fired very to again you got to like their uh the way they've handled the [Applause] press all right so Hopkinson with some full court pressure here Burns will take it out to Van CLE get it back over to
036iusi he's going to push it up the floor back to Burns over to nice well done max fineberg van CLE goes right to the glass he's definitely taking Coach O boy's advice now all right so opinon will set it up four minutes left in the third and that was John Van CLE with the stuff Alex christon with the steal got we got's going to push it up and he'll start it over he sees van nice look nice pass just a little too too tough think he faked Alex had him wide open he did the look away and Alex looked away too good thought though nice pass definitely yeah that kid's got some future here Steve you know you got to like what we're we're watching tonight Mark still a 10-point lead 3222 and it looks
037like an Ashland foul all right Steve so there you go thisle gets the ball in the paint turns to go to the rim two Ashen plays right on him quickly that's a foul iing be happy with good aggressive defense you know let's let's uh easy we'll give the we'll give the refs a little credit here tonight they're letting letting him play this one makes the first one our big big man is in again Mas Antonio got a little blow there Alex chrisin giving him a rest this will takes a second shot that doesn't go and Shane rips that down in front of Luke mkini as will start up the offense again Max with a fake on the shot to Burns Burns looking for a foul there doesn't get it gets back on D though which
038pivot foot is he using this Ste block nice block no travel there but he uh he got himself stuck in a corner mark I don't know I think set a new rule he had two pivot feet fineberg long range buries it think he only got credit for two though that that was two-point shot his first points of the [Applause] evening you got to like the substitutions here that uh that coach champan is making oh thle through the lane nobody to pick him up he gets two more full court pressure up ball thrown away goes back to Ash uh to Hoppington all right Joe talking to Max tell him to relax no rush we got 226 left in the third 34-25 ashin with the lead Shane pulls that down loses it fineberg ends up with the
039rebound tries to throw it ahead to ayusi tipped out by Hopkinson that was a good call by The Ref saw the Hopkins to ball go off the Hopkinson player not back court no no it's inbound pass Hopkinson fans looking for that call Burns goes to the rim foul [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and number 14 on the line for Two Shots Mark with have Kyle clars first foul for the green Joe Burns at the line you realize that was the first hopkington foul of the of the quarter does that seem possible uh no comments burn makes the first one under two minutes in the third period Steve I'll give the the rest credit cuz they're not calling it either way two team fouls ashon one for Hopkins and this has been a very aggressive third quarter they're
040letting them play so far working out the Ashland's Advantage Clara Zone tonight working well no easy shots for Hopkinson and fineberg he sees open Mar he's going to put it up for doesn't get any help from the rim Morrison nice toses it back in but nice eff nice effort and they steal it back get the steal Shane does the turn around back to ausi to Marson underneath puts it up gets buried gets absolutely buried there Steve upk gets him back up the floor with a ref right in front of him mark mberg underneath he's got two Ashen players on him all right Steve why is that not a jump ball that was either a jump ball or it was nothing but it was called the Hopkinson foul on mber think the tables trying to figure
041out what happened there cuz they didn't they didn't mark it [Music] [Applause] [Music] yet even with the defensive pressure Ashlin able to move the ball around oh fineberg after his own rebound we have a collision and we're going to get no call there just the fact that went off of Max's uh hands I suppose that's incidental contact well it was it was aggressive but uh you know certainly no harm no foul it look like on that one so we're letting playin that's definitely the role there I'm still confused as the last the last play there hasn't been any any indication right of of whether that was a fou not so we might have to go to the table after the game and get the read on that cuz it didn't go up on the scoreboard
04236 seconds left that ball swatted Away by Pas anonio and Ashlin another long range pass by fineberg coach champagne letting the boys know they better take one last shot fineberg into Shane he gets the ball back here's the up fake 10 seconds left here Burns withth it swings it over to Max M they're looking for under 10 eight Max got to have to shoot shoot Morrison he's not going to get that off in time shot clock violation 3.5 on the [Applause] clock X fineberg lost track of the uh 30 second clock there Steve and ason doesn't get a shot off thisle tosses up a long range bomb and we're going to end this crazy third quarter with the Ashen 36 hon 25 so we've we've increased our lead at the end of the third quarter
043here Mark yeah so good job good job by the clockers so yeah a little uh somewhat interesting uh some of the calls that were made and uh well Steve I don't want to correct you CU you are the chair of the selectman here but I when you say calls that were made I'm looking up at the scoreboard two team files on Ash and one on Pinson so I got to say there weren't a lot of calls made okay well there weren't a lot of we know that but there there there was something that was that was done by the refs that we we still haven't figured out yet yeah I don't know what happened we'll have to go to the the tape we'll go to the studio and check the tape on I have to
044edit that into the play I guess so but uh I think we're time I look over you guys smil pants tight you're having a great game you're having a great game that's the thing we're enjoying this and it looks like you are as well we're just trying to figure out what happened down on that end of the yeah used to be if you SW your elbow when you had the ball technal F no more technical now they call it violation just a violation it's not a foul oh all right great thank you for clearing that up all right Steve all right so I learned uh as I say it's been years since I've refed but uh that's a a relatively new uh a new change in the in the rule book so you can elbow
045somebody underneath after a rebound and get away with it without a follow that's a pretty good deal yeah well when I was reing any swinging on the elbows was a technical so now it's referee's discretion basically it's kind of like interference in pro [Applause] football Ash land ball thrown away by hopkington coach Keane doing his best to remain calm but not happy with the sloppy ball Movement by his boys tonight Le back in over to Johnny iusi yet covered tonight and marron's going to have an easy toss from the corner for three doesn't go gets his own rebound leov sees iusi again makes a move to the basket he's swallowed up underneath and enough hustle to get the ball back so we got a change of uh the shot clock back to 30 seconds change
046of possession Joe Burns looking for some help iusi is looking for laub throws it across caught to Morrison Marson makes a move to the glass sent to Shane back to Joe pulls it back to shoot and buries a two Joe Burns a a terrific ball movement that was a very patient that was a Paul pass pullback a turnover another turnover we've got a we've got an imploding uh hillers team right now coach Keane calls a timeout 6:30 left on the clock 6:32 [Applause] well I have to say uh the ball's going clock away tonight and it's and I I will have to also say that it's because of some great Hustle by the boys they're they're hustled they're they're they're focused motivated and uh you know their their their uh halfcourt zone defense is terrific
047they have not let down no it looks like we're balancing the score book seems to get get more balanced here as we we move towards uh the end of this game' got some other contributions this this half definitely burns with four more points Feinberg and Van CLE have added to the total so we've got a 13-point Ashland lead right now in the fourth quarter with about I think I I recall 6:30 left on the clock 6:30 2 13-point lead still no fouls call this quarter either and it's Ashton's [Applause] ball ashon doing a nice job breaking up the traps [Music] tonight marrison going to go to the rim after that with a nice behind the p and he gets foul pushed to the ground so we'll let that go [Applause] long range shot in and
048out no no breaks for Hopkinson tonight and all right so he's finally going to call that foul called that foul that might have been the third one for a second there I thought he was going to call a jump ball but uh he called it on the floor not a shot so it's hopkington possession here so that's David Marson second thistle and we had a foul on the [Applause] shot which I didn't see that's going to be an Alex Alex chrus in his second Adam Schmidt will go to the line it looks like coach Keane is ready [Music] [Applause] to he's got four Subs ready to come in coach Keane may be teaching some of his stat as lesson here and he's got a sub coming in for the shooter definitely not [Applause] happy Schmidt
049makes both as foul shots if I'm not mistaken those are the first two points for Hopkin in this uh this quarter that is correct Steve so back to a 13-point lead the clockers breaking the Press oh [Applause] turnover [Music] oh on the floor that's against Shane so we got a little disparity going on here with the with the calls at this point in time we got the clockers with five fouls and the hillers with one if I'm not mistaken Mark a Ashland time out at this point settle him down a bit I think so and I think that gave uh coach champagne a chance to point at the scoreboard for the ref right as well as that's right so it's obvious that there's a little uh inequity going on here to say the least we're
050suddenly five team files for Ashlin one for Hopkinson so we'll see if this evens out over the next five minutes wish it turns tends to do Steve which it tends to do I see uh uh referees do have a sense of that I think uh what do we have for public service announcements here Steve well what do we have let's see uh we are here at waca TV don't forget to visit us on the web at w AC atv.com you can send us a message by following the submit the message link on the homepage Hopkinson up the top of the key out to the corner for a long range shot we got a three a three by hopkington Andrew McMillan his second three of the game he had one in the first quarter and uh
051the subs look like they're going to try and pick it up here for the green Joe Burns breaks the Press marrison takes it back to the corner gets pushed out of bound yep Shane rolls to the rim doesn't go and a shooting foul so we're on the line looks like we're going to have the fourth foul on Mr thistle oh maybe not Hopkinson might have got a break there I'm not sure how well looks like uh Patrick does Mr Pas Antonio have any points tonight he has one basket early one basket so he's got a foul shot uh oh actually I think that's his first point you're right his first points of the game and he makes both of those so we're back up to a 12-point lead Ashland Ashland applies a little pressure on
052the defense a little more incidental contact there no Call and Max fineberg will bring it up after the rebound by ashin brins has to stretch to pull that in saves it mberg comes out and mugs Morrison he gets it back over to Burns Burns throws it down to Shane three guys on him Burns gets it back toss it up the three oh that was Dave Morrison from the corner for [Applause] three so even with the triple teams Hopkinson unable to stop this offense Shan gets a rebound against the two Hopkins and big men Max feinberg's going to put on a little dribbling show far us and lose the ball out of bounds ball uh despite the pushing and the shoving coach champagne yelling at ausi for not going to get that ball we're under five
053minutes here 430 left on the in the quarter in the game Ni drop down to mberg nice pass inside he gets two for that effort nice play I don't think Hopkinson will forget the play they're not going to give up on this game so no I think there's plenty of time wide open look for fineberg tosses up a three can't get it doesn't follow the shot coach champagne big frown on his face after that long range Bomb by Hopkinson rims out Shane with a nice rebound gets it up to Burns they bring it up and John iusi will take over the offense here nice hustle nice hustle Ashan retains possession so there you go Morrison takes the shark gets his own rebound and gets it out to Burns nice Hustle by David Morrison and we've
054got coming up to three minutes left in the game ayusi nice pass by Burns can't make the play got a little body on him I've can it'll bring it up the floor thistle looks to take the long range Shar gives it up two points on that Andro McMillan and we have a timeout by looks like coach champ yep and we still have a we've got an 11-point lead with a little bit over three minutes left in the game a lot of time left so what do you think Mark you think we uh coach Keane has a shooter in McMillan's got two threes in row now and uh these guys are hurling up the long range bombs so with only 11-point lead Ash's going to have to be a little more aggressive getting out to the
055the three-point line for those shots cuz that's a Hopkinson specialty raining down those threes y sure the coach uh champagne is reminding the boys of that and we'll see a little little tighter pick up in the defensive intensity when they come out with three minutes left I think uh we need to let it hang out so all right with this little break in the timeout Let's uh let everybody know who tonight's crew here is at waca TV we've got Dan Baker Brenda Maro Adam Halprin Paul Bodwin producing tonight and our director big will mccla big will is in the house yeah and speaking of waa uh hope or trust the residents are aware of their new facilities coming online very shortly over on Butterworth drive going to be very exciting I was at the selman's
056meeting Wednesday night to see the presentation by uh Mr Ulus from the board of directors for the waca cable TV and explain some pretty exciting upcoming developments with the new station I think uh it's going to be a very exciting facility and uh we'll have to get you in on a cooking show with Steve stepen Steve hey little New Orleans shrimp fineberg with the long range three rims out but he gets fouled out so we've got uh on the line for three shots here Mark Max looking a little exasperated little frustrated shots aren't going down let's see if he can uh gather himself here and make these foul shots I think this could put a little icing here we're under three minutes well done two for two we're up to a 13-point lead with 254
057left on the clock third one rims out clock is back on defense McMillan tosses it out and that look A a step there oh he almost blew the whistle Shane up over the top of mberg for the rebound knocks it down iusi picks it up well Shane's been quite on the offensive end he's definitely been controlling those defensive bullets marrison goes to the rim he get hit all right um not uh Marson with the steel a little unclear that uh that exchange there that contact that uh was ignored hey Russy coach champagne asking the boys to slow it down and set up Shane takes it goes to the rim right to the hoop huh that's his uh fourth point I think of the night that's correct y crowd looking for Shane to throw that one
058down he makes it easy layup instead so we're under two minutes we've got a 12-point lead here for the clockers hunch comes back with two for Hopkinson Shane another chance here turns around little drop he gets two more on a nice Inlet pass Maya rusi can we light up the cigars yet what do you think the long range Bomb by McMillan doesn't go another scrum on the paint we've got M and burns and we got a jump ball that's a little uh carryover from the football season it looks there looks like there Steve now we've got the subs coming in it looks like coach Keane may have uh I think coach Keane has decided to take the big boys out and let this game run out no reason to have any no so we got
059a minute 22 with a 14-point clocker lead that's uh so let's light up the cigars Mark I think it's that time we're uh you know if Fred were here he'd be uh he'd be puffing away Red's puffing up away before the game [Laughter] starts I remember reading the story in Bird's book about when he was uh you know recruited out of college he's getting ready to sign with the the Celtics and he went on a road trip with red and he said it was cold out and red was puffing away in the car and the cigar he had to keep the windows up and bird said he was choking to death cuz the car was full of smoke uh it's is so fascinating that era of NBA and the you know the early years when
060when uh red hour back you know essentially created the NBA and uh uh you know he never lived in Boston know he he lived he had a room in Boston he lived in a hotel but never lived in Boston lived in Washington DC all right Clara fans aon's going to take the ball out here with a minute 22 they got a commanding 5137 lead [Applause] Hopkinson with some full court pressure into to Shane back to Burns Burns two people on him back to Shane Shane looks for the long PASS gives it back to Burns over to fineberg and they'll set up the offense and try and run off some time off the clock I think the uh the clockers have done a great job breaking that press tonight great ball handling tonight very poised all
061around great effort [Applause] fineberg picks up a loose ball back to Burns Burns is going to shoot gets fouled no call Wall goes out of bounds okay that was a should have been I think a a blocked shot out of bounds off of hopkington but Joey bur just misses that steel but I guess it's easy to a game when we're sitting on our rear end here we not hopping and popping like they are going to end up with a big win here for for Ashlin tonight clock tosses in a meaningless three at the end 30 seconds left fineberg bumped off the play stays with ashin so this will make the boys uh six- six overall five- five in the tvl drop hopkington to 8 and three and 8-2 so kudos to the uh to the
062coaching staff and to the boys great start of the second half of the season for the clocker Steve and looks like iusi is going to try and dribble out the clock here 17 seconds left now he's going to the rim it tosses it in in front of the big man thistle Johnny iusi all around great game tonight Hopkinson pulls it back Shane up for the rebound pulls it down and we this this game going be it it's in the books W terrific game by the clockers all right clocker fans a very exciting clocker win tonight the boys celebrating now getting ready for the lineup we'll be back in just a minute to wrap it up you're watching waca TV all right welcome back clocker fans thanks ginger for introducing us Mark JWT Steve Mitchell here
063just watched the Ashlen boys beat the hopkington hillers 53 to 40 a very exciting game tonight terrific game I think right from from the the first minute the boys came out and they were they were on fire they were motivated it's a terrific game I have to say best boys effort All Season like you said right out of the locker room defensive intensity beating you know able to beat the Hopkinson press which they put a lot of pressure on tonight their best game of the season clearly terrific and I think what what uh happened tonight uh obviously our big guy was double team there a lot of pressure on him and and and the rest of the team stepped up and looked for that open man so it's terrific John rusi having a picnic in
064the far Corner uncovered all night yes you know when they double down there's somebody open right John was getting the advantage there well let's look at the scoring uh their big man their Center thistle had 11 for Hopkinson for Ashlin Evan Leu L all scores with 15 John iusi with 13 Joe Burns 10 Shane pas IO six points shame with those six points in the fourth quarter two and three guys on them all night obviously that defensive strategy didn't work well for Coach Keane tonight he was he was huge tonight there's no question I mean he was the center of their their defense uh it opened up everything for Ashland uh despite the the the lack of scoring he was huge in so many other ways great I so scoring rolls wrap up the rest
065of scor with Morrison he had five Max fineberg with four points struggle tonight but move the ball exciting young player we'll be seeing a lot of him going forward so uh we appreciate you coming on board tonight glad to have you sit at the table we're happy to have some company and uh that was uh it was a lot of fun uh it was uh it was a pleasure as I said you know several times tonight much more satisfying than a selectman's meeting well we R numerate You by allowing you to pick the player of the game ah this is a tough one tonight because we've got a high scorer Evan labov with 15 points but I'm going to have to give it to John ausi I mean I thought he really stepped up to
066the plate uh certainly he had 13 points tonight but I think even more important he helped break their press tonight with his ball handling so uh congratulations to John ayusi on a terrific game all right thank you Steve Steve Mitchell Mark JT waca TV we'll see you again soon be safe out there thank [Music] you that's [Music]
