good evening Ashley clocker fans we're here with our stop the clock segment before tonight's January 18th game with the Hopkinson girls coach kbby welcome back hey nice to see you again tough night the other night with uh Medfield that was a buzz saw got it handed to us how the girls going of respond tonight uh we had a good week after that I was really proud of them uh you know midterms a midterm week and uh yeah they bounced back really well so we're looking for good things tonight we should have a good crowd here tonight tonight's the annual home and home yep girl and boys against Hopkinson so project project purple project purple tonight too we'll have a little talk about that in a little while too so uh overtime loss at Hopkinson the
girls are looking forward to come back and avenge that they really are I mean that was a hard one you know we we were up one with uh like 4 seconds ago with the ball and found a way to lose so uh the girls are really really pumped up and the ashon Hopkins thing speaks for itself out that big rivalry so we're looking forward to good effort tonight good luck great thank very thanks for coming [Music] now good evening clocker fans welcome to ashin high school it's January 18th and we're here for the ashin lady clockers big night against Hopkinson uh my co-host tonight Steve Mitchell will be bringing you the game and uh we'll be be right back after the lineups and the national anthem thank you looks like we're going to have a
lively crowd here tonight Steve for this annual battle against cross town rivalry hopkington hillers well thanks for having me here tonight this is a this is a treat and a pleasure and uh uh I think we're uh from my uh experience with hopkington it always winds up to be a an exciting uh contest well for those of you who recognize that voice from uh uh government television we've got Steve Mitchell our chair of the selectman is our guest commentator tonight and a little known fact about Steve is he used to be a referee so he's going to be helping me figure out what these referees are doing tonight well that is true about 10 years of uh of women and men's high school basketball so uh at the time uh uh Brian Grimley was the
the ad here in uh in uh not the ad actually he was the one of the gym coaches here in uh and and a referee so looks like we're getting ready to start all right clarus will start Eliza hulleman now Leone gwenth Ivory Magano and Kaylee gazed pop 10 right off the tip goes to the basket for two and early pressure clock has beat that press though long range shot from Megan arinero long off the rim Hopkin looks to push it up nice pass on Anique knocked down though back to the top of the key ashon defense settled in now long range shot with 5 seconds left Hopkin and gets a rebound off a touch quickly they're up four to [Applause] nothing no help from the referee there little indecisive but Ashland ball Ash elza
bringing it out underneath kayy G it as it swings to the basket no help from the rim and the Hopkinson rebound up the floor long pass picked up but tipped Away by mean Aon iio from behind another long range shot rebounded by Ashland Liza looking for some help up top that Ball's going to get tied up and that's a Ashland possession underneath the basket nine seconds left on the shot clock here Ivy gets the inbound pass Wheels around she gets fouled on the floor [Applause] it'll be out from underneath Ivory back to Eliza hullman find n an arrow up top that shot short rebound by Kaylee Gard out to Eliza hullman pushing it up the floor and everybody gets back to set up Liza looking for some help looking for that underneath can't pull that
in Hopkinson gets the ball again and they're back on pushing the towards the rim that ball comes back to the outside Samos is doing a lot of the ball handling for Hopkinson early tonight she goes to the rim puts the shot up gets fouled doesn't get any help from the rim and it doesn't go down so a two shot foul here first foul on the team on gu [Applause] thory Moses misses a first shot makes the second one so it's five nothing here Steve early for Hopkinson well uh I think a little uh little Jitters I think that full court press going of unsettled them a little bit Megan aono running the offense now forces that pass and it's stolen by Megan hin that an intentional foul and we're going to get a technical foul
on Megan ianiro called for the intentional on that Breakaway and that's two shots and the ball and the ball Steve yeah dicey start here for the clock so far H makes the first one and the second as uh Hopkinson will take the ball out under their baset with a seven nothing lead with five minutes left there in the first quarter [Music] Natalie put some pressure on that but Hopkinson with another rebound oh that's a three-point shot from Megan [Applause] Hines and more full court pressure by the hillers ashon does not have their offense gear yet Steve no I think uh looks like John may be getting ready to call a timeout here Natalie finds Megan iono for eight-footer but she can't make it go nice rebound by WTH Ivory but she can't get it to
go in off the Box either and another Hopkinson rebound but that gets thrown away by the over by the ashin bench on I'd say we're more in a just a full court man pressure here Steve little drive by oh a block and we have a two-on one here two rebounds don't get Hopkinson any help yet but another shot long range shot by Sarah Moses comes up short and ashon actually gets the rebound there see if we can start it out here with a basket Natalie working down low spins puts it up goes to the floor hard gets foued to the line for two yep I think the ladies are not in sync at this time Mark but we get on the board on the board with natal Leone's first fouble shot second one short on
the rim and another Hopkinson rebound swings it around the top of the key Tess Chandler is going to set up the offense for Hopkinson hillas look big out there don't they Steve I think that's the definitely an advantage here for the uh for the hillers Chandler toses up an airball claras will take that and they'll take the ball out underneath again with that with the full court press here I don't seem to be running a trap although that looked like the Trap there here we go across the timeline iono looking for help sees Nally going to the basket she can't get it off the glass but a nice rebound by Ivory looks like she got fouled underneath asland possession it looks like they're having a a reasonably easy time bringing it up against the Press
but uh not getting their offense set right now long range shot by El Eliza hullman yet another defensive rebound for Hopkinson I think we've got one offensive Rebound in the whole quarter here yeah I think uh definitely a size uh issue nowy tried to get that one up the defensive board and that pupped out of bounds Hopkin and will take it out 216 left here hop with a 10 to one lead kick [Applause] ball Chandler up top working it back and forth with Moses goes to the rim herself gets her own rebound swings it across for another shot Kaye gazit steps in to grab that got to travel against Ashland again hopkington ball coach Kirby seen enough here Co Steve so we've got a couple of uh uh historically a couple of interesting coaches here
with John and with Rita ainson from formerly uh the head coach of the h Holliston girls basketball team and if you remember years ago uh Carol Walters mhm was uh went on to play at Yukon and was a star at at uh Holliston High School that's right quite the player that's right so it's exciting to see uh Rita uh certainly still in the coaching uh industry and uh of course John has got that tremendous history from uh from Medfield and all those years and where you look at the uh the the longevity of the coaching staff of Ashland got a couple gray hairs over there Steve if that's what you're saying well we're hoping some of that longevity is going to help the clock has turn the tide here because Hill is it's a uphill
battle for the clockers right now well it certainly is and I think uh you know Smokey uh looks like he's uh uh his his wheels are turning there so I'm sure he's going to concoct some something let's see what we get out of this timeout Hopkinson with the [Music] ball the Hopkin God Chandler she's the tallest person on the floor right now that doesn't go for Hopkinson but they get their own rebound and a foul [Applause] now le only with her first it looks like the uh the lady clockers are being challenged with the boxing out right Nowa Liza marzel thises her first foul shot she'll get a second chance here and she doesn't get that one Ivory steps in and gets the rebound and Hopkinson mysteriously has pulled off the pressure it's letting ashon
bring the ball up Natalie Wheeling to the rim can't get that off the glass but a nice rebound by gwenneth Ivory good follow through she's going to get a trip to the line and uh quietly Sarah Moses of hopton's got two fouls here and that might be an ADV Advantage for Ashlin she'll sit down corneth makes her first fouble shot a chance to make a second one who came in for hop Hopkinson there Steve it was number 20 if I'm not mistaken 21 I'm sorry number 21 Jenna hannel GL Smith's the second one and quickly up the floor Hopkinson Tess Chandler managing the program from up top swings it to the corner for a three-point shot off the front of the rim nice rebound by Megan aono surrounded but gets a pass off to Eliza
hullman and up the floor we go Natalie with some good movement underneath but finds Ivory can't get it to go and back up the floor comes Hinson the clarus have settled down defensively Steve but they still haven't got their offense in gear no well they're get they're getting some shots they just need to need to get him uh get him to fall I think that's a nice here we go nice rebound there you go here we go push it up the floor aono with the ball waiting for the rest of her help 9 seconds left long shot by Nat Leone hopkinson's going to push it up and try and get a last shot here three seconds that doesn't go so Steve after one quarter here harkinson with a 10 to2 lead the positive there is
we've got a 20 run going for the clockers well I think they were certainly uh uh had it tough with the uh with the full court press getting getting it in sync and uh I think the uh uh the boxing out uh is an issue they should have had uh uh uh prevented a few more baskets there but but uh you know I I can see that they once they're they get half court they're they can set up their offense and uh you know they can they're getting shots off so well they're coming off a tough battle in Medfield 84 to 37 dubing the other night so uh they might be shaking off some mental cobwebs here but I know coach Kirby and the coaching staff will have ready to go this second quarter so
see what we have y fton coming in 8 and3 overall 7-2 in the tvl Ashland 6 and three in the tvl so this is an important game for the clockers can will'll take it out in front of the waca TV commentator table as you know you can see all the ashon sports here on acat waca TV oh look at that we got a firewall underneath on gwenth Ivory yeah possession foul underneath that's s a second there a little dicey Steve little bit they've got some big talented guards here for Hopkinson oh nice in pass to Dana Goan driving through and she converts for two we've got the press back on that's Samantha Leon in she takes a shot goes aray and another defensive rebounds nice defense by Megan Iero to stop that shot well I
didn't catch that one mark that Fon Ashland that looked a little that's two in a row from uh that ref it's two we's called on people cutting through the middle I haven't seen either one of those fouls to but he's closer to it and my vision isn't perfect so but at heart we're all amateur refs here so yes we are there's a steel Isa hman up over to Megan I she looked to shoot but pulled it up throws it back up top to Eliza finds Samantha Leon underneath and she can't get it to go off the rim and actually I think that was uh Miss Russell in she came in for Nat Leone after picking up her second foul Megan Russell that was shot rolled across the rim look at her so that's hopkinson's nice
block guard she goes to the rim but can't get it to hit the rim and we get a 32 violation good defense there for Ashland and we've got a couple more Subs coming in [Applause] all right so we got 620 left there it's 12 to2 Hopkinson ason with the ball coach ainson rest in or statas except for Chandler it looks at this point there's a fast break broken up by Kylie gazed but another rebound by Hopkinson Tess Chandler will start it out again up top nice pick and roll nice pass Anda goog and with another basket for second in a row nice pass by Eliza Holman to an open kayy gazed can't make it go and didn't get the benefit of a foul underneath either so she's she got a break there getting back late
on D and Eliza's breaking it out now Steve I like to see hman go right to the basket there and draw some activity now she's pulling it up Nice Ash OH back to Ashland can hang on and goling going to the basket the ref buddy might have missed that one oh there's a steal by Chandler might have been payback for the other one and she's going to go against Eliza and Eliza stops that shot coach Kirby calls a timeout after two steals that fortunately Eliza hom was able to shut down well it seems to me Mark that the that the ladies are getting they're getting shots they're just not converting and uh and I think I agree I think if if our guard does draw to ghost to the basket a little bit more right
I'd like to see her go up and at least draw her foul change the tone of the game here but it looks like there may be a a little payback on on one or two of those fouls of course it's easy to ref from from here or in the stance and uh I'm going to let you deal with that see you're the experienced professional I'm just a I'm just a homer Steve well in and you know that's uh it's part of the sport as a spectator is to is to certainly second guess the refs and to to into to referee from the from the stands and uh although I understand today there's a much more uh there's a higher degree of uh of monitoring that that level of sportsmanship the tvl does have a zero
tolerance rule we expect and definitely get from our R fans good behavior yep years ago I think it was decidedly a little bit more uh uh I guess rock and roll might be the right term you know smokey certainly uh could certainly uh describe a few situations there all right Ashton's got the ball up top Megan aono looking for some help girls are definitely struggling to get some penetration that ball goes over the top to the foul line Kaye Gaza gets it they call it for a travel Steve well that uh I didn't quite see I didn't see her have control of the ball at that point in time so uh I'm going to be a homer on that one there you go bad call Tess Chandler down to Megan Hines to cutting Dana goalen
for her third Basket in a row she has all three baskets for Hopkins in this quarter long range shot from oh doesn't go aono gets the rebound but gets her shot [Applause] blocked Clark is looking a little frustrated here Steve oh and we've got a roll going on with uh with hopkington it's 182 at this point 8.80 run this quarter Megan Hines with her basket chipped out by Hopkinson we've got Ashen ball so A 333 left in the second quarter commanding 18-2 lead for hopkington and nothing going right right now for the [Applause] clockers coach ainson given her star Tess Chandler a rest [Music] pushing and we're going to get a uh blocking foul underneath off the ball Steve so we're getting close to the Penalty here Hinson with six fouls the ladies need to
get to the rim and start taking some foul shots and make it a little easier on themselves for a while y Kaylee pushing the defender offer gets the ball ball to Sam Leone she goes up press shots blocked and we have a foul with the holds so so we're in the penalty we're in the one1 maybe we can ship away a little bit at this lead you good get a few points before the end of the second quarter here Samantha Leon at the line She carries the first one and the second one second well done all right so we could use a stop here let's see what the clockers can do [Applause] they got a nice rebound [Applause] rebound B get swung back up top to Samantha there a Homan with the ball she lost
the ball that's thrown away that's a sloppy pass Steve that is a couple of uh turnovers on both sides here I think if we if the ladies could get the a couple of good baskets here I I think uh coach Atkinson has noticed that her substitutes have taken the lost a little focus and she's going to bring sah Moses and Tess Chandler her two guards starting guards back into the game to take control we had a we had a pushing foul on Ashland and back to hopkington [Applause] here Shay a nice pass across the court gets it back into the corner for Moses she tosses it back out CH misses that easy bunny and a hard foul so both teams are now on the penalty and two shot uh two shot foul oh Adam make
makes the first [Applause] one and that Rainbow's a swish was that is one Arc of a shot was quite a shot was it an Aro to Gard up fake tries to get it to Russell cutting through back out top to homman anybody set up again couldn't make the pass and hopkington is back on the Run nice basket nice ball movement on hington Dana Goan underneath for the hellis is having her way she's got eight points this quarter and AR throws it across going to get a long shot from Sam Leone Down and Out Megan can't Russell can't hold on to that rebound but they get it back yep under a minute Mark oh we got a push [Applause] I'm not sure what he called there Megan kicked that out no he called a push he
called a foul on that and we should be going to the line what what are they doing unless they reversed it but that's seemed to be the uh they put a foul on the board she you call an offensive foul on Megan maybe that's what it was maybe that's what it was y oh they called it on Gaz it underneath and we have a double dribble so with 32 seconds likely Hopkins in'll play for the last shot Moses with a long three off the rim aano she's going to go to the rim but no she get pulls it up 13 seconds here Samantha drives stopped Hopkinson on a fast break can't convert rebound and with three seconds left well Mark not a lot we can say about that first half we in the first half
claras versus Hopkinson we're glad it's over yeah we are Hopkins in 24 Ashlin four will be right back after halftime action you're watching waca TV all right ladies and gentlemen uh Mark JWT Steve Mitchell waca TV we're getting ready to start the second half Hopkinson leads 24 to4 Ashlin back out with his status aono Holeman Ivory gazit and Leone waiting to see who coach Atkinson's going to put out on the floor for the hillers oh and uh Ashen will take the ball out in front of us here at the table St yes well needless to say they're going to have to come out Mark with uh uh some intensity and they're going to have to uh box out and move the ball around let's see if we can chip away at least half this lead
this quarter aono with the ball nice pass inside and we've got the first uh score of the the second half by Ashley nice pass from nalon into Ivory for two that wakes up the crowd a little bit Ste but looks like the ladies are a little bit more intense out there mark do it look that way to you uh they might have got a little talking to at halftime Steve long range shot from Hopkinson bounces around on the rim doesn't go we've got a net and we're going to get a foul on uh Miss Moses who takes down Eliza hullman on that battle for the rebound very good well this looks very promising right now this start and that's going to be her third foul Steve one of the uh all right I'm sure that
smokey must be exploiting the foul situation here a little bit I would hope we'll see that an ill advised pass that Miss chanler tries to break up but ason gets it back and here we go she stops to take her shot ivy with another rebound and a basket nice basket looks like the clock is might be coming a life Ste we have a roll going on here Rita looks is Up From the Bench here it looks like she's uh I think she may have to coach this [Laughter] half we'll see Moses a long range shot off the rim rebounded by Hopkinson another shot and a rebound Ash I's going to rip that down and what do we got for possession arrow on The Possession [Applause] alternates okay re is pacing the floor this is good
CH looks at The Rim gives it back to Moses and back up top and she's going to start the offense again you got 15 on the shot clock here nice nice nice sets up for the long range shot again off the back of the rim that looked to me Arrow steals that she's going to have a clear path to the rim she puts it up no she gets hit from behind and I will tell you from my vantage point here that looks uh like a uh a foul on the shot the crowd little upset with the no call there iono gets it up top G it brings it around the top of the key swings it to hman looking for someone to give the ball to that pass doesn't work out yeah Hinson looking like
they're rushing their offense now after missing their first four shots of this half I think looks like Reed is going to the bench [Music] here Moses can't convert another ivory rebound I'll tell you see gr Ivory now commanding the boards like she did the other night against Millis y now it looks like they've settled down it looks like they're moving the ball nice inside pass and we had a foul outside foul on the floor is that on Chandler think what do we get yeah for second okay so Ashley in possession underneath their basket iy gets the inbound pass back to hullman Megan iono set up the offense n bad inside [Music] pass and Hopkinson throws it away unable to take advantage of the turnover so ashon clearly with the with the mo they got the
momentum the mo there you go Ste let's see if we can turn the mo to two this possession Hopkinson back with some four cord pressure Ashlin gets it across the court Eliza goes for the three Leone gets the rebound goes to the glass makes a count gets her headband knocked off without a call but she'll take the two points so we have a six correct me if I'm wrong a 60 run that's enough for Coach Atkinson to call a timeout coach Atkinson is uh pacing the floor this is good so the clock has have come out of the halftime break had a 60 run to close the lead to 2410 the woke the crowd up and uh as you say that's enough to get rer off the chair so I guess the uh safe to
assume the Ashland Brain Trust uh during halftime uh came up with uh or settled the girls down and uh they certainly seem to be a little bit more composed uh the beginning of this half oh they certainly are a different team than they were the first St Steve so let's see if they can continue out of this timeout we will remind you that uh you can see all of ashin high school sports on waca TV Comcast channel 96 and if you're a Verizon subscriber you can tune to channel 40 and for those of you that are enjoying my guest host Steve Mitchell selectman chair in our commentary tonight you can get it this one a DVD for a nomenal price and I would I would also comment that uh uh Board of selectman's meetings are
also on DVD if you're so inspired wow they must cost a lot Steve that now Leone gets a pass back buries another two and I'm sorry no we've got a Hopkinson basket there Budd hon basket I'm sorry another pass inside to ivory first six point of this quarter they've definitely uh they they're moving the ball well they're passing they're spreading the [Applause] court all right interesting adjustment by coach Atkinson she now has her guide Chandler playing down low and as Mu Moses up to the top to run the offense but that doesn't work out National take the ball out so they're backing off Hopkinson is backing off on the full court press hullan drives it down gets it inside Ivory can't hang on she's got to get that ball up into Ivory's hands Steve yep
I I agree she tall girls she needs to be up there be able to go directly up to the basket she can't be picking that up off for anank let's see that work the next time that's a three point three-point shot for [Applause] Hopkinson as are looking for help Ivory get some position under there up they forc they forced that one in nice battle Leone gets that back pass to gazed throws it to airo coming across She lays it up won't go in we've got a jump ball should be Ashland underneath the basket nice battle by Ivory on a knee two H players on her but she ties it up ashon gets the ball back a fresh shot clock as well G it across Court to hulleman puts up the three and it goes nothing
but net that's a big lift let's see if we can get some defensive pressure here Eliza exhorting her teammates to turn up the heat another long range Bomb by Hillis doesn't go thrown back in by Moses oh and we've got a ball off of FLH here megono got that stop but bounced off her leg and out of bounds unlucky well I'm impressed with this comeback Chandler back up top running the offense I would say that uh coach ainson has asked the Hopkin girls to slow it down a little bit and wait for this shot Y and that's a three-point shot for hopkington that's Sara Mosa's second three-pointer in a row and that extends the lead to 3215 Hopkinson with a minute 20 left there in the third quarter Natalie driving to the hoop throws it
up backwards and tosses it in nice drive what a great uh great basket Mark Hopkinson wasted no time to push it up the floor [Music] though thrown away a [Applause] turnover look like Autumn krammer thought uh Sarah Moses was hiding in the corner like she's been all night and she wasn't there Zig when she zagged hman calling out the [Music] play I'm going to get a tip we got a tip ball stays on Ashland 14 on the shot clock 40 seconds left in the uh in the third quarter Kirby gives Leone and gwth iory a quick blow brings in Sam Leone and uh Megan Russell iano looking to the basket gets it back she's going to take her three-pointer that goes long Moses with the rebound aono steals the outet pass and there's a scrum
on the floor he got a jump ball I believe it's hopkington if I'm not mistaken nice Hustle by Megan arono to get Megan aono a mouth to get back and break up that long Outlet [Applause] pass 21 seconds left well we got a push on Ashland tough call there Megan got picked off and tried to run through the pick and get called for the foul y 20 seconds left shot clock is off first second you'll notice Steve the refs have seemed to have swallowed their whistles this quarter at least this quarter yes long range bomb all Air another air ball ball scrumming around underneath blocked and it's Ashland ball with 7 seconds I probably saw about two or three fouls on that little interaction there but uh only called three fouls this quarter they had
called 15 in the last half so and that's the end of the third quarter all right so after three here it's Hopkinson 32 ashin 17 but I think the girls uh made a much better representation of this quarter yes Steve the uh Ashlin actually outscored hopkington there to 10 that quarter so they're going to have to do a little better job the fourth quarter to catch up but they're definitely going the right direction y I think a little uh little defense on the three-point Shots Out Here for hopkington uh and I think we might be uh might work our way back into this game both teams uh stretching the RS patience here to come back for the fourth quarter well it's been a pretty fast-paced game our own Andy running the clock leaning on the
buzzer to get the coaches to break break their huddles yeah to no avail though I think we're going to hear a tweet from the referee here soon if they don't uh white ball a start [Applause] Mark all right we're off fourth quarter action so interesting foul disparities in the between the the halves let see what the refs have in store this quarter Steve Omen [Applause] underneath trapped underneath tried to force it out to irono asham going a break as it gets tipped out of bounds by Hopkinson 10 10 seconds y get it in ball knocked around again on the floor we're going to have a Hopkinson break ni break Sarah Moses with an easy two for [Applause] Hopkinson so coach Atkinson is still up and uh certainly hasn't uh lit up the cigar yet so
they're getting a little slopp me Mark trying to force another pass inside that gets knocked away and Chandler will walk it up the floor and start to slow things down nice pass by another Hopkins in basket that was a nice play Steve Chandler drives the basket picks up two Ashlen Defenders dropped it down to look like Taylor sooko Just buries the to [Applause] and arrow with a shot doesn't go gets knocked out of bounds by Hopkins I hate to say it Mark but I think could be that the lady clockers may have used up their uh they haven't got anything going quite yet here in the fourth Ivory gets it goes to the rim another basket and the foul so basket's good and a a foul shot on top nothing but ni with that patented
oneand push completes the three-point play they get a substitution here for Hopkinson Kendall Erikson comes in for Dana goalen I assume must have got that foul that pass out from underneath shoveled up to Eliza homman pulls it up finds irono she can't grab it Hopkinson gets it back do something with those quick breaks Steve they've had some opportunities and not been able to capitalize there was a Ashland ball that was a nice another nice inside pass by hopkington but when was unable to convert and a Golan right back in krma takes a break 543 left here Hopkinson up 3620 Eliz are already working the clock that's thrown in Nat she turns around on Chandler Chandler all over and Nat goes to the shot and doesn't get any help jum from The Ref good kayy Gaz
it job ties it up but that's a Hopkinson possession yep I don't know what happened I mean looked to me like a little over the back on that play but looked like knck at clob had taken her shot [Music] too is Heman comes to knock away that Inlet pass Five 55 left a lot of time left here Steve if the girls can get a couple well a few stops and uh maybe a you know a couple of uh baskets with fouls couple three-pointers we're back in this that's right need a stop though that's it shot clock expired R wondering what happened there [Applause] so Ashen with a break with the sh clock violation on hopkington and then they'll start it up here just under five minutes knocked out by hopkington coach Kirby's given aono a
break Samantha Leoni in freshman picks it up finds her assistant Nat who takes a shot off the back of the rim and another rebound by Chandler she's got the ball back to run the offense 51 with those long arms she's tough to get a rebound from Steve yes she is up nice pass inside but knocked knocked Away by Ashland close to the 4minute mark uh hate to say it Mark we may be running out of time [Applause] here inbounded by Hopkinson tossed back out longrange shot doesn't go Natalie STS the outlet finds homman looking for aono running through to the corner Ivory up top though not her shot backing down her cover she hits a three there with the three I think I might retract that statement if we can get some threes and a
few stops I think we're back in this game it's all that fincom optimism that you have Steve come on let's stay positive here that uh Doom and Gloom I'm sorry it's never over you know what they say another turnover we got Ash bu all right I will uh maybe I'll be quiet here Reserve judgement how's that as you notice the ladies working with Andy at the table that get as much out of the clock as possible not picking that ball up till half court Leon turns and shoots that won't go Chandler with the rebound throws it into gaz's hands up fake by Holan that doesn't go but G gets another rebound how did she not get the fou there Steve awful awful awful awful that's an easy basket on the transition for hopk that's too
bad that's too bad we had a fans can't be happy about that Kylie Gaz had claw but underneath yeah doesn't get the benefit of the call and it's unfortunate because a ref is positioned perfectly for to make that call and he didn't and now we're going to get a makeup call there Steve so we got Leone driving underneath to throw it out to Homan and the other ref this time makes a call and Asen will get it underneath so we're sub three minutes 259 left Mark 3823 Hawkinson long range shot by homman doesn't go rebounded by Center Holly Adams quickly shot by Megan Hines two more 235 left ashon down 17 aono takes a long range shot again yep I think we're we're and Chandler nice pass nice pass basket I think uh that's going
to be looks like uh coach Kirby's called a timeout yeah so Hopkinson 42 Ashen 23 just over a couple minutes left here in Ashlin High School tonight's the home and home girls home against Hopkinson the boys will be coming up next I hate to uh join in your your skepticism Steve but well we've got 19 points with uh two and a half minutes [Applause] left but I will say they came out in the second half and uh I think they had their opportunities they definitely picked up the pace third quarter but yep but I think here you know your assessment uh is correct uh Mark you know they've got size they've got great guard play uh good inside passing and I think that full court press uh certainly uh and it looks like they're back
to a well they're not going to let Ash pick up any momentum it looks like so two minutes left Natalie goes to the basket throws it up doesn't go ivory with the rebound she can't finish gets it back and gets hit from behind she'll go to the line so we didn't come close to making the penalty at this point uh in the second half first half I think we were in fairly early in the second quarter 16 fouls in the first half only six all the second half Steve or six called cuz some of us would say they they swallowed whistles yes Ivory another one-handed P shot she always looking good at the line she buries a second [Applause] one all right just under two minutes stolen by nice cross Natalie she goes up she
gets fouled but it doesn't go she'll go to the line line for two shots with 148 left nothing but n to say they've done a good job of keeping Natalie quiet tonight it's only her fifth point [Applause] white ball hington sub nice attempt to get the rebound by gwenth Ivory and ashon ends up with the ball underneath aono gets it tosses up the three doesn't go Kayley Gaz it the rebound up sorry that was Megan Russell with a nice rebound but she can't get it to convert and uh that's an interesting steal by Eliza hullman two hand in the back no call Ashen with the ball stepped on the line Ashland back to Hopkinson underneath their own basket well I would suggest Mark that uh Ashlin had plenty of shot opportunities particularly under the basket
haven't been able to convert little force field around the Box on that glass tonight apparently yeah apparently so unfortunately I've only been able to trade baskets with Hopkins in this quarter yeah so we're winding down to the end of this uh lady ladies clockers game and what can we anticipate for the uh for the for the varsity boys well we'll uh be right back after this game for the second half of the home and home here and uh that'll be a big challenge for the boys too both teams are vying for leadership in the TVs and we'll uh bring a little rund down after we wrap up the girl scoring all right so we're back out after the timeout minute 28 left Hopkinson 42 ashon 26 Hopkin with the ball on there basket a nice
passing to the ball and another hopkington basket jayen West in and gets her first shot to goo to Leone hullan with the three-pointer she gets that one to [Applause] go but we're under a minute here and see if they can nice steal see if she can finish it Steve and she does the [Applause] layup under a minute why looking for another steel doesn't get it Matt Hopkinson shots all air it won't be saved so with 33 seconds left no we could poked Away by hington Ashley on ball on the side elizza was looking to zero Inn for that three and got it poked away looks ranero she'll turn and shoot that'll go off the front of the rim nice Hustle by wenth Ivory to get it back Homan takes a long range that goes off
the back of the rim Leon with the rebound gets it back she shoots and that goes down Sam Leone with a three point and we're under 10 seconds here the game is winding down Hinson Relentless and takes another three at the buzzer a three-point shot so we have a final Mark yes Hopkinson wins this battle 46 to 34 and uh we'll be right back you're watching waca TV welcome back clar of fans Mark JT Steve Mitchell waca TV uh it's a tale of two halves tonight with the girls losing uh 46 to 34 down 20 points after the first half they came back and won the second half but dug themselves too big a hole Steve too big a hole in the first half I mean you've got to give uh hopkington credit here their
their guard play very strong size significant size differential so you know good job by the Hopkinson girls very very well played by the girls Chandler up top they God second tallest player on the team senior she's a goodlooking player very nice I thought they they moved the ball they I thought Ashland had some difficulty with their full court press and uh just couldn't get out of the hole they dug in the first half tough battle but anyway Hines for Hopkinson at 13 for Ashlin ivory LED all scorers with 12 Eliza homman had eight Samantha Leon had six Natalie only had five and Megan aono had three so tough battle tonight uh was a good opportunity for Ashlin to tie their record with Hopkinson but Hopkinson walks away with the win tonight but uh as the
guest host Tonight you get to pick our uh player of the game you know I'm going to have to go with gwenith Ivory I thought she she was solid in the game uh you know 12 points uh and uh I think she's the she's deserving so yeah she had quite a few rebounds again tonight she's really been commanding the boards lately so so good kudos to gwenith and congratulations MVP for this game all right well I want to thank you for coming tonight and we hope you'll join us again we pleasure appreciate all your inside comments I mentioned earlier much more satisfying than a selectman's meeting all right Mar Jew with Steve Mitchell waca TV thanks for tuning in we'll see you again soon thank you oh [Music]
