I am going to share a few words about the 250th celebration and also celebrating our students and all the hard work that they did. But take a look around the room and this was an amazing setup and this wasn't easy. I want to recognize Mrs. Nina DeSantis cuz she set all of this up. Thank you Nina. Really appreciate that. [applause] You did a great great job. I had a vision and you fulfilled that. So Nina, you always do fantastic work. So thank you for that. So, with that being said, good evening and welcome to our America's 250th celebration, followed by our awards of excellence program. At this time, I would like to invite the school board and

Mr. Flynn to come on down to have a seat in the front row where we can enjoy this evening's celebration. So, please come on down to enjoy the presentation. Thank you. like this. Tonight we will all be treated to several student showcases celebrating America's 250th. First off, coral students for from Frederick County Middle School will be singing our national anthem. Please rise if you are able and face the flag. Say [singing] by the dawn early light. [music] What so proudly we held [singing] at the twilight last gleaming whose bright stripes and [singing] bright stars through the perilous [singing] fight or the we [singing] were so gallently streaming and the rockets red The bombs bursting in air give proof through [singing] the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say [singing] does that star spangled

B yet for the land of the free and the [singing] home of the brave. [applause] Thank you. That was beautiful. Next up, we will have Jameswood Middle School student Maline Sante read her first place submission to the VFW Post Patriots Pen Contest. There are a lot of different ways to show patriotism and support for one's country. Whether that's just having a flag at your house or or serving in the military. The ways I show support for our country are by supporting veterans as well as active service members, celebrating cultural heritage, and celebrating national holidays like the 4th of July. Showing patriotism can be shown in many different ways. These are just some of the ways I show support for our country. The first way I show patriotism is by showing support for veterans and active

service members. I think by showing support for veterans can be patriotic because by supporting them, we are honoring their sacrifices. Veterans and active service members dedicate their lives, safety, and time to protect our country and its people as well. Service members don't just fight in wars, but they also help in emergency situations, natural disasters, and other dangerous situations. Knowing that we can count on them in times of crisis can make a lot of people feel safe in our country. Not only this but it al but by supporting veterans we are also keeping the memories of past victories and struggles of veterans that helped shape our country. This is the reason why I think showing support for veterans can be patriotic and one of the ways I show patriotism for a country. The second way I

show patriotism is by celebrating cultural heritage. Patriotism doesn't have to be about politics. It can be about taking pride in our country's culture. In addition to this, cultural festivals or even just learning about different cultures can bring a lot bring people from different backgrounds together. It builds respect for other cultures. Our country is made up of people from different backgrounds and cultures. By celebrating cultural heritage, we are celebrating we are showing everyone's cultures are valued equally. Not only does this bring people together, but it also brings more unity and reduces conflict making our country stronger. Therefore, by celebrating cultural other cultures, we are bringing more peace to our country. The last way I show support for our country is by celebrating national holidays. National holidays are much more than days off. They remind us of

past struggles we had to face to get where we are today. Celebrating these national holidays, we are expressing our gratitude to all the people who have fought for our independence and our freedom and our country. Celebrating national holidays can be a fun time to gather up with all your friends and family. National holidays create positive traditions like lighting up fireworks or going to a parade with all your loved ones. Holidays like Independence Day reminds us to appreciate and protect our rights and freedoms. This shows that celebrating national holidays can be a good way to show support for our country and have a good time as well. In conclusion, whether it's big or small, patriotism can mean a lot of different things to people. Supporting veterans, celebrating cultural heritage, and celebrating national holidays are just a

few meaningful ways I show patriotism and support for our country. These are only some things people can do to show support for our country. Ultimately, patriotism is about coming together and making our country a better place for everyone. [applause] >> [applause] >> Well done. Thank you so much. And now, please welcome Adeline Stubbing Strouinger to the podium. She'll be reading the her second place submission to the VFW Post 2123 Patriots Pen Contest. Showing patriotism and support for our country is important to keep our nation strong. Showing care for our nation provides confidence and pride to those in our country and those defending us. Helping others understand the importance of patriotism is in some ways just as crucial as performing patriotic duties. There are many outstanding ways of showing patriotism like representing in public office. But

there are other everyday ways to help that can be just as important. We should all show patriotism in the ways we can because doing these things can greatly benefit the nation as a whole. My family and I do the things we can to help our community. We work hard to keep the community clean and peaceful because we have pride in our country and doing these things to help our nation only makes us more proud. My family and I volunteer at a rescue mission, pick up trash around our community, and fly the American flag to show our patriotism. Other things you can do are write cards for veterans to show gratefulness, donate to shelters, vote, participate in political campaigns, and even just respecting your fellow American citizens. These things may seem less important than others, but

they show your pride for the country and the effort put into keeping it beautiful. Over time, this will show others the need to help and be active in the community. Even though I do what I can to serve right now, when I'm older, there are just as many opportunities to help the country. When I'm 18, I can make educated votes to help decide the future of our country, and I can join the military. When I'm even older, I can apply for public office in addition to all the things I do now. I can help control the future of my country and keep us on the right path. In conclusion, your age should not determine if you are patriotic because all ages have ways of showing patriotism. I show patriotism to help us remain strong and

to allow my hope for the country to make its way into the lives of others. When loyalty is shared among citizens, it helps others become more likely to contribute to the public good and do more for the nation. As William Falner once said, "We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it." [applause] Excellent job. Thank you so much. And now we will all be entertained by the Sherando High School Jazz Ensemble led by Mr. Tyler Endy. This evening they'll be treating us to swing music. All All right. All right. Good evening everyone. My name is Tyler Endy and I am the director of bands at Sherando High School. And in front of you is the Sharando Jazz Ensemble plus a couple of friends. Before I share why I brought this

group in particular and introduce our selection, I must give several thank yous. We are only here for about another 10ish minutes, but so much work goes into making these 10 minutes happen. So, first for the school board for allowing us to come in and perform, to our principal, Miss McCoy, for her constant support and opportunities for the band program. Uh, three individuals now, Amy Scott, Tim Ferris, and Jeff Conrad, who all helped coordinate the logistics for this performance. And for two special guests playing with the ensemble tonight. First, we have Mr. Norris, the band director from Admiral Burn Middle School, [applause] and Juan Torres over here from Milbrook High School. Um, [applause] and they both got a notice this afternoon to come in and sub with the ensemble. It's what the gigging life is like

sometimes. So, two, we have three alto saxophones. Two of them had sporting events and the third got sick today. So, this has now turned into a collaborative effort amongst our programs here. So, welcome, welcome, Mr. Norris and Juan. So, why are we here? Well, our jazz ensemble was granted this performance opportunity, and it just so happened to be at the meeting for the celebration for the 250th anniversary of America. Well, jazz music started here in America, and this art form originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans with the two primary genres being blues and ragtime. This evolved into the development of swing music and the big band format for ensembles made famous by pioneers such as Lewis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington. This swing chart we are going to perform tonight entitled It's

Not Polite to Point was composed by Gordon Goodman in 2011, an American composer. I feel like his swing music always captured the essence that classic swing orchestra classic swing orchestras would and it pairs nicely with the flare that he brings to his music. For reference, he was the orchestrator and arranger for the Incredibles soundtrack. So, his music in particular has that vibe and textures that create the spy jazz feeling. He passed away in 2025, but his contributions in jazz music and our American art form will last forever. Please enjoy. It's not polite to point. One. [music] Oh. >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [applause] >> Thank you so much. How fun was that? Let's give him another round of applause. [applause] It's like going And I have to And finally tonight, we have a video to close out this evening's celebration of America's 250th. Please enjoy. With this year marking America's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Frederick County Public Schools are marking the nation's birthday with

a multitude of events to help students understand the significance of this historic occasion. Jordan Springs Elementary School has spent the week reading stories focused on the early origins of the United States. At Frederick County Middle School, students dressed in red, white, and blue for an American themed pep rally and a staff versus student basketball game. Several students spoke about their recent activities as well as their favorite historical character. >> For America's 250th celebration, I'm really excited for like the freedom opportunities it presents. And I think it's a great chance to gather with friends and family to celebrate our nation. One of my favorite historical figures is George Washington because I just admire what he did for our country and how he helped formed it. >> Uh the things that excite me about America's 250th is

that we've been a free country for 250 years and I thought that's really great and cool. My favorite historical figure is Alexander Hamilton. I think he's a really cool guy and I recently watched the movie and I loved how everything played out. At Milbrook High School, history teacher Garrett Hammer coordinated a week of events centered around April 19th. That date commemorates the anniversary of the shot heard round the world, referring to the opening shot at the Battles of Lexington Concord on April 19th, 1775, signaling the start of the American Revolutionary War and the fight for American independence. The original thought process was that we were going to have just a simple one-day celebration on Friday, April 17th, the closest that I could get to uh April 19th, which was the Lexington and Concord. It quickly

morphed into something that I felt could take place over the course of really the entire week. And so our class sponsors and um our class officers, they began putting in place a series of spirit attire days, which we were dressing out in patriotic gear throughout the entire week. I had class clubs that were able to place flags throughout various portions outside of the building to kind of draw recognition. Uh we had other class clubs that created our star wall here in the cafeteria that students can interact with. And then I had teachers that emailed me saying, "You know what? I I've got artifacts. I've got historical pieces. Could you use them?" And all of a sudden, we started collecting these pieces. And now we have a small museum exhibit here in the cafeteria that students

can visit during their lunch that takes up two tables that spans everywhere from the earlier colonial period all the way up and through World War II. The idea behind the star project was actually just my own curiosity. I have taught US history my entire adult life and I don't think I've ever once asked my students, "What does America mean to you?" And Milbrook has such a wonderfully diverse population. And so students had the ability to grab a white star, they could write a word, a phrase, something that was personal to them. The response was overwhelming. Um, it turned out so much nicer than I expected. And I'm I'm really proud of what our building was able to do for our students and for our community this week. >> Happy birthday, America. [music] >> [applause] >>

What a wonderful way to celebrate this monumental occasion and the freedoms of our nation. And at this time, if all schoolboard members could return to their seats and we'll begin the awards of excellence portion of the evening. All right. Up next are student and staff recognitions. Dr. Hummer. >> All right. Uh before we proceed, I would like to ask that everyone stay here through the entire program out of respect for each individual who is being recognized now uh for the recognition portion of our presentation. Once we've completed all presentations, you will have the opportunity to leave and enjoy the rest of your evening. In addition, when you come forward to receive your certificate, please take a moment to take a picture with Mrs. Caruso and myself. And if you're taking picture as a group, please

stay up here at the front and then we'll also take a group photo as well. So with that, Mrs. Caruso and I will head to the front. Earlier this year, several of our students participated in various VFW post 2123 contests. The results are as follows. First off, the Voice of Democracy contest, earning second place from Milbrook High School, Jamie Sosa Martinez. [applause] >> [applause] >> And now we'll recognize students who participated in the Patriots Pen Contest. From Jameswood Middle School, Matteline Sante, first place. Please feel free to stay if you wish to do so. >> [music] >> All right, next [music] up is citizen comments. The Frederick County School Board is pleased to receive public comments at each monthly meeting from members of the

public with which include residents of Frederick County, Virginia, including residents of Winchester City, Virginia, FCPS students, parents, and legal guardians of FCPS students, FCPS employees, and businesses located within Frederick County, Virginia. Complaints regarding FCPS employees should first be submitted to the school principal or to the school board office. Complaints regarding individual students

should be submitted to the school principal or the appropriate school official. The school board is committed to showing respect and courtesy to all citizens. 039out of order. Continued violation may result in removal from the premises. The chair has discretion concerning public participation of schoolboard meetings. Schoolboard meetings are taped um recorded for the purpose of clarification and the development of the official minutes. Uh Danielle Johnson Shaunie. Good evening members of the board. My name is Danielle Johnson, the mother of Faith Johnson, and I'm here tonight to speak on the behalf of students, especially with those with disabilities within the Frederick County Public Schools. I want to be clear, this is not just about policy. This is about protection, responsibility, and the value we place on every child in this district. Right now, there is a critical need for increased funding and prioritization of special education services. Our schools cannot function safely or effect or effectively when there are not enough qualified

special education teachers, nurses, and instructional aids in place. These roles are not optional. They are essential. Students with special needs require individualization, attention, medical support, and consistent supervision. When staffing is insufficient, those needs go unmet, and that puts children at risk. And let me be very direct. Students safe safety must be non-negotiable. Not just in words, but in action. Every child in this district deserves to walk into school into a school environment where they are safe, supported, and protected. But for many families, especially those with children who have disabilities, that trust is being shaken. When systems are unf underfunded and understaffed, mistakes happen. But when those mistakes involve harm to a child, accountability must follow. There must be a clear expectation that every adult employed by Frederick County Public Schools, teachers, aids, nurses, and administrators

will be held accountable for their actions. When they're wrong when there is wrongdoing, it cannot be minimized, overlooked, or quietly handled without transparency. Families deserve honesty. Students deserve protection. And this community deserves a school system that does not look away when something goes wrong. So tonight, I'm asking the board to take action, prioritize funding for special education staffing, ensure proper training and safety protocols are in place, maintain appropriate staff to student ratios, and most importantly, enforce accountability at every level without exception. Because at the end of the day, this is this is more about budgets and policies. This is about children. This is about our children. Children who depend on adults to do the right thing even when it's difficult. Children who deserve dignity, safety, and a real opportunity to learn and thrive. So, I

urge you to make them a priority, not later, but now. Thank you. Mr. Pat Templeton from the VFW. Good evening. My con my comments will be short because I can only with my eyes being what I have, I can only put so much on a paper. Um, first I want to uh thank the board and I want to thank Dr. Hummer in particular for his uh him uh promoting our contests. And uh each year you saw some of the people here tonight talking and each year at the post we put up uh over $3,000 worth of awards. Um, but you know, there's as much as $35,000 offered for people who would go on to win nationally the uh Voice of Democracy and also all our first place winners in our contest also get invited to

ride the VFW float in the in the uh Apple Blossom Parade. Uh, also I wanted to say that um the uh theme for those essay contests next year is uh what a veteran taught me about America. I want everybody to know and Dr. Hummer in particular. I want your teachers to know that the uh VFW guys are available to go into school if they want us to in there to talk to the kids or whatever. subject. We've gone individually. I personally have gone and taught a whole day at uh Jameswood Middle School. We also did a group of people at Jameswood High School where we sat in the library for the day and had them come in and just ask us questions. Well, thank you very much for uh uh honoring the kids here again

tonight and uh keep up the good work. Thank you. >> Thank you. Dr. Hummer, you're up next with the super report. >> All right. Thank you so much, Madam Chair. I I feel that we owe that Sherando band some money. I mean, we got a free show there, but oh my gosh, they did such an amazing job, and I'm always so deeply deeply impressed with our kids and what they do every single day. So, again, congratulations to all of our students who receive awards today. Not only do we have students representing us at a local level, but on a regional, state, and national level. first place winners and just doing some very very amazing things. Um, I also want to share a little story. So, I'm a science guy if you guys didn't know that.

So, when I go out and see these projects, I always ask a lot of hard questions and I think the word is out there that I ask hard questions. So, they're starting to prepare and they're getting ready, but they're always able to answer answer all my questions in stride and I'm just so very proud of them for all of the deep work that they do every single day. Um, I also want to thank our school board again for for recognizing all of our amazing staff and we have these proclamations for a reason because there is so much work that happens every single day to make sure that our school is running school division is running smoothly. So for today, I deeply deeply thank you for recognizing our teachers, our speech pathologists, our nutritional staff uh

as well as our speech pathologist for for all of the work that they do every day. and this is the least we can do with a proclamation and thanks for making sure to keep the goal going to supporting our students and their goals. I also want to thank again our our staff, our students, our school board, everyone involved with making this 250th celebration. We also have Mr. Gvermont here from the board of supervisors. Thank you for all your support, sir. And and this celebration is a really really big deal. So, thanks again to our essay winners. Thanks to the na the students who did the national anthem, our our Sharando students, the video which was very very impressive and that's just the tip of the iceberg to celebrate all the great things of this beautiful

nation and the 250th celebration will go on uh for the remainder of this year. So, so thank you for that. Um Madam Chair, I do have a couple items I do want to to address that are on the agenda this evening. And and the first one is I want to take a moment to discuss the the calendar adjustments that are up for your consideration this evening. Uh as we shared on Tuesday's budget work session, we dove into some things that our staff would like uh with upcoming budget cycle and conversations. And one of the top items that our staff identified was meaningful support uh with with time off. And that's a good thing. So what we did was is we took a deep dive into our calendar because our teachers deserve time to rest. They

deserve time to recharge and they deserve time to manage the demands of not only their professional lives but their personal lives as well. We honored that request by reflecting that in the calendar for the next two years where there are three 4-day weekends. We have an entire week off for our teachers during Thanksgiving as well as other days that are built into the calendar to honor that request. Just as important, we have also taken a thoughtful look at how to use the time that is already built into the calendar, specifically our professional learning days, our CL days, and our planning days. This is very important. It's actually critical because our staff are people first. They have families. They have friends. They have lives outside of the school day. And we deeply, deeply value their commitment

to our students and this amazing community every single day. At the same time, we've been having ongoing conversations about the importance of professional learning, making sure we continue to grow, we continue to collaborate, and keep our skills sharp as educators. So, with this consideration for you this evening and for everyone listening at home, these are not additional days for staff. We did not add additional days in the calendar for staff. That's important because instead it is a clearer and more intentional use of days that are already built into the calendar. By identifying these days, we are creating dedicated space for collaboration, learning, and planning while still ensuring that staff have the time they need for the responsibilities like grading at the end of each quarter. That's very, very important, and we want to make sure

our teachers have time for that. We also worked very closely with our administrators and our teachers to emphasize the importance of that flexibility. Ultimately, this is about being more intentional with our time, honoring staff feedback, supporting the well-being, and continuing to invest in our professional growth. We will continue to listen. We will continue to reflect and most importantly we will continue to adjust as we receive feedback throughout this process because maintaining trust with our staff is our top priority because it is what our students deserve. Next up is we are coming to the conclusion of the budget process. I want to thank again all of our board members. I want to thank our board of supervisors. I want to thank our team as you saw for the new members for your first time. There's a

lot of work that goes into this and I thank you for your dedication as we complete this process. Now although we wish we did receive a little bit more money for our teachers because they des and our staff because they deserve every penny, I fully believe we are moving in a positive direction and again I thank the board of supervisors, Mr. Gvermont here for that work. I believe we're moving in a positive direction to respond to the growth that is here and it is going to continue as we talked about last week. And our teachers need the support and the resources to complete the day-to-day tasks. Our staff need those resources. As we heard earlier, our special education staff needs those resources. And I continue to thank you for your support. Continue to thank you

as we continue to work through getting our staff exactly what they need. And we are looking forward to getting started on FY28 in what, Mrs. Anderson? Just a month. Correct. One day. Yes. So, we don't get very much time off when we talk about budget. It's a very important decision. Um, lastly, and most importantly, after the budget is hopefully approved this evening, we are we are hopeful for that, we can get back to the main thing, which is celebrating our students. There are a ton of culminating activities, performances, as you saw our Sharando band this evening. There's a lot more of those at our high schools and middle schools, elementary schools. We also have graduation, which we're looking forward to. So, we're going to get back to that main thing and we can continue to

keep our focus on why we do what we do every single day. So, we're ready to celebrate our graduating class of 2026. So, with that, Madam Chair, that is all I have for my super report. Thank you for your time. >> And up next is our student representative review. Good evening, Dr. Hummer and members of the board. My name is Gavin Flynn, and I'm honored to introduce myself as one of your student representatives alongside Isabella Collegeman. At the last meeting, Isabelle and I spoke about some initiatives we have planned to advocate for in 2026. Since then, we have gathered student perspectives, thoughts, and insights by attending school study halls, using surveys, and asking students questions one-on-one. Additionally, we attended the March 25th board of supervisors meeting where we advocated for increased educational funding. At that

meeting, we saw many other students speak, bringing their own unique approach and passion to the podium. Following the board of supervisors meeting, we sat down with Dr. Hummer to discuss our strategy moving forward. We plan to start narrowing down our topics in May and identify at least two core issues that Isabella and I will focus on in our research to ensure we truly represent our peers. A schoolwide survey will be sent out soon, allowing all students to voice their opinions on what they see as the most pressing priorities for Frederick County. Once we narrow down these goals, we will begin a rigorous research process to ensure that the initiatives that students chose are feas feasible and actionable. This will consist of reviewing data from other school districts who have successfully carried out these initiatives. interviewing

students and staff who will be directly affected by these potential policies and interviewing or continuously working with our peers to refine how they believe these plans should be executed. Ultimately, once this comprehensive research is complete, we will present our findings to the school board. Our goal is to provide you with datadriven recommendations that bridge the gap between student feedback and board policy. Thank you for your time and for always valuing student voice. Next, I will pass it over to Isabella to provide more specific details on student feedback and provide details on our new efforts with social media. >> Thank you, Gavin Flynn. Good evening, members of the board. Dr. Hummer, my name is Isabella Collegeman, and I am grateful to be one of your student representatives. As student representatives, our responsibility is to serve as

a bridge between students and decision makers to ensure that student voices are not only heard but actively shape the direction of our education system. Over the past month, we have taken meaningful steps towards strengthening that connection. One of our most exciting initiatives has been the creation of an official social media platform dedicated to student representatives. This platform allows us to reach students where they already are, making communication more accessible, timely, and engaging. It gives students a space to stay informed, share their perspectives, and feel more connected to the decisions being made on their behalf. But communication is not just about speaking. It's also about listening. Following this meeting, we will be providing students with a clear, comprehensible s summary of s excuse me, [laughter] summary of the topics discussed tonight through our new social media

platform. Too often, important decisions are made without students fully understanding how they impact their daily lives. By breaking down these discussions into studentfriendly updates, we are taking another step towards transparency and inclusion. As I mentioned pre previously, one of our highest priorities is ensuring that the student body remains informed and involved in all issues that affect their education. That commitment to inclusion is guiding our next major step, gathering direct input from students across the district. As Gavin shared earlier, we will be distributing a student survey this month to collect feedback on key priorities. These priorities were not chosen at random. They reflect ongoing conversations and concerns we have heard directly from students. The survey will focus on four main ideas. afterchool transportation, particularly the need for 4pm buses, expanded access to tutoring across a wider

range of subjects, increased opportunities to hear from career focused speakers, and connect with internship pathways, and the implementation of more project-based learning experiences in the classroom. Each of these areas represents more than just a request. They rep they represent real barriers and opportunities that shape the student experience. For example, without reliable after-school transportation, many students are unable to participate in tutoring, extracurricular activities, or academic support programs. Similarly, while tutoring exists, access is not always so accessible. Expanding these opportunities could make a meaningful difference in student access. Additionally, students are increasingly looking for connections between their education and their future. Career focused speakers and internship opportunities provide not only inspiration but practical insight into life beyond high school. And finally, project-based learning continues to stand out as a powerful way to engage students, encourage collaboration, and

develop real world skills. Gavin and I are incredibly excited to gather this feedback because it will allow us to move forward with a plan that is not based on assumptions, but on authentic student voices. Our goal is to present the board with a clear datadriven understanding of what students need most. Following our presentation, we will spend the months ahead researching these priorities in greater depth and working closely with Dr. Hummer and his team to develop initiative and realistic solutions. This collaboration is essential. When students and leadership work together, we create strong and more effective outcomes for everyone. At the end of the day, this work is about more than surveys or social media. It's about building a community where students feel seen, heard, and valued. When students know their voices matter, they become more engaged,

more motivated, and more invested in their education. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to represent my peers and to contribute to this ongoing progress. Together, we are not just talking about improving education. We are actively shaping it. Thank you. >> Thank you. Up next, we have unfinished business with the approval of the FY27 budget. Dr. Hummer. >> All right. So, while this is raising up, so so Madame Chair, uh will of the board, I have the presentation that we discussed last week. Um we can do one of two things. We can go through that presentation very quickly. I'm seeing some head nods of no. Um or we can just jump right into the scenarios. There's no new information on here. here. It's the same four scenarios that are up for your consideration. I'm here

to answer any questions or any follow-up from last week and there is a motion there before you if there are no questions. Seeing a lot of head nods. So, um >> to quote David Lee Roth, might as well jump. [laughter] Madame Chair, I would like to make a motion to approve the fiscal year 2026 27 budget totaling $329,439,658. The budget includes and this will be listed by fund and then budget amount. School operating fund $269,17,562. Additional full-time equivalent positions included in the budget are three for the school operating fund and 1.3 for the school nutrition fund. >> Second. >> A motion has been made and properly seconded. Is there any discussion? >> Madam Chair, just just for clarification purposes for the public and for you all as well. That motion that there is in front of you is scenario B. As we

discussed last week, just to clear any confusion in regards to what scenario this is proposed for you all. Just want to make that clarification. Madame Chair, um [clears throat] so the uh shortfall of the op of the funds that we requested from the community has sort of placed us in quite a pickle. It's a big deal. However, it's clear that we can't get blood from a stone. I feel confident that our current board of supervisors will continue to work tirelessly to provide for our community, especially our schools. I want to thank the board of supervisors for making the difficult decisions to help our community to write a ship that for the past several years has been stuck on a shaw of ignorance and partisanship. I will continue to fight for our schools and our staff

and our students. Thank you. >> Oh, why not? Um, this was an enlightening first uh first go around the budget. Uh, so I appreciate your support, the executive team, uh, Miss Anderson. Um, I appreciate Miss Klein, Mr. Sturdivan, Mr. Pro leading the the charge through the finance committee. Um not unfamiliar with budgeting and operating it, but this is this was a little different and uh so I appreciate all the all the lessons learned. Um I echo uh Mr. Bell's sentiments. Um the best investment in my opinion that we can provide our community is into our schools. I never want people to have a false illusion that I think we should be anything less. Um, but you know, I'm I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow. Is that what [laughter] we're doing tomorrow? All right. I'm holding

you to it. Um, starting tomorrow to to address next year's budget and putting ourselves in a in a situation to be successful not long not only short-term, but long term as well. Um, so I just want to appreciate everyone's hard work and wrapping this up. >> All right. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Any opposed?
