[Music] welcome to another edition of all politics is local I'm John featherston joined by Peter Chisum who I actually got to go to the Army Navy game with when the Army Navy game was played at Gillette Stadium recently Peter I have to tell you I've been a lot of sporting events over the years and you and I sat just outside the Navy End Zone one of the greatest sporting events I've ever been to in my life it certainly was John I'm telling you well you know I wore my seven Tomy hat back yes you did and you know I wear it here or there on a holiday people say what's a s thy but there I had feel great officers coming over to me it worri when I said un and it was really great

it was tremendously exciting about for me oh I love being there just all day long all day long and just everywhere that we went and you're going to see throughout the tonight's uh video and everything like that you're going to see you know shots of us in Patriot Place you're going to see shots of us over barol sports events you're going to see stuff that happen inside the stadium but everywhere you went you really felt the pride of America and you know talking to these young adults you know the students at at the cadets really gives me a little bit of Hope of what's going on in in the world right now because you know we're going to talk a little bit about in the videos that you know not everything's great in America right

now but when you talk to these young adults they were impressive they are more than impressive during the halftime the YY cheerleaders were in front of me for about 10 minutes and I went over to them kind of kid and said you know you all can't be infantry officers and they laughed and I said some could go into you know Finance agitant General Court they said infantry and when I sat down after talking with them for a few minutes I said to myself and they were all believe me when I tell you they all looked like you know um prom queens from the Junior from Junior and senior and in high school they're all about 5 for and yet you know in your heart any of them could drop me 300 yards as soon as

snap your finger I mean AB they trained to lead they trained to kill yep and they were they but it it was just funny just you know watched it talking to them and it was um and they were bright kids you could tell they were all bright nice moment for me to even observe is you know Governor Mor Hy was there and you know Governor Healey comes right up the Peter in the end zone like what's he doing here and uh she you know spent a lot of time talking to the troops and a lot of time that she you know a lot of time she probably didn't have to do that but you know her comments to me was you know that this is great you know you just you're you're talking to all

these people you know the people that are playing in that game are willing to die for everybody watching the game it's it's single-handedly the best time I've ever had at a sporting event I mean we had the best seats in town I did we did we we we had the best seats and um even um before the game I got to talk to the um sajja major who's the uh lead singer for the West Point band and she's a career Soldier and U i' met her before and even she was excited being there you know at uh gillet Stadium it was a great day for the Boston area and you talk you talk about women soldiers um you and I had the opportunity to go up to the top of Gillette Stadium so we watched

as the uh as everybody parachuted into the stadium and much to my surprise as I'm walking down I I've talked to one of the ladies who parachuted into the stadium who landed right on the field I said how long did you get to practice you know that and she's like well we did drills two weeks prior but the first time we ever jumped into the stadium was tonight and she's the first one to ever do it in America into a sporting event like that so and they all hit the yard line all the 50 I got to tell you one little anecdote too John's brother by the way was an AAL officer and I went over to um a a field grade Navy officer and said I don't know Navy rank what rank are you

and this guy he said well I'm what they call be equivalent to a major in the Army then he should over to another officer he grabs his coat pulls over see that that means he's like a lieutenant colonel and this guy over here he pulled over his coat he's a he'd be like a full Colonel he said you know but you guys are okay we're all a little different cuz we're in the water all the time and this fellow told me he had been an executive officer on a uh on a submarine and just uh talked about a month earlier from uh being out for several months well we've got a lot of great videos and one of the First videos that we're going to go to right now I had an opportunity to go

over to the bar stool Sports setup up and we interviewed some of the guys from barol Sports take a look wab here at the barol sports event here at the Army Navy game in Foxboro beautiful day the sun is out the crowd is immense I was talking to a couple state troopers they said they've never seen the type of activity that they've seen Around Gillette Stadium bigger than a Taylor Swift concert bigger than any uh playoff game ever in the Foxboro area the activity here is intense we were in the stadium a little bit earlier the troops are starting to march in this is one of the greatest sporting events in the history of sporting events and waa TV is going to bring you live coverage of it all day long we're with Dan cats

better known as Big Cat from barol Sports at the Army Navy game a big cat why is this game so important to everybody it's it's the best game of the year it's uh Army Navy the guys care about it so much they respect each other and also it's a chance for us to try to win an over that is impossible every single year we did it last year we broke the streak this year we're going for two in a row two in a row yeah you know it's a troubl Time in America right now but man when you come here you feel the pride of America you know this I was in the stadium a little bit earlier and the troops are Marching In I mean it's just like Goosebumps yeah no it's the best

every everyone like kind of comes together for one day it's exactly right so it feels good to watch plug the coffee uh Stella coffee.com got to go try it it's beautiful it all it's great coffee it also uh we we support uh animal shelter in Chicago so where I got Stella from so if you like dogs if you like coffee match made in heaven thank you thank you so much thank you so we're outside the bar stool Sports setup outside the Army Navy game the biggest guy in college football sports right here Brandon Walker it's actually it's actually the number one college football media personality in America in America yes that's quite the honor thank you very much the honor I appreciate you introducing me like that so talk to us about why Army Navy

game is so important because it is Army Navy it is American Amica it is everything about college football that is fantastic we did all that stupid playoff crap last week but now these are two teams that play for the Love of the Game for the love of the country it's Army Navy it's Army Navy I was in the stadium a little bit earlier I I was talking it's the energy inside the stadium already is just unbelievable and I was talking to Big Cat a little bit about it you know America's going through some tough times right now and stuff and but man the American Spirit inside the stadium this morning it just gives you hope you know let me tell you something what was your name John John John this is a great country in

America I agree so what are you guys doing today give us a little recap of what to expect today so we're doing a show we'll do a show at 12:30 uh everybody's over here doing the thing we got all the Baro people got all the the great troops and everything um soon as we get done with the show I guess some people are going to the game some people are not you're going to the game I'm not oh I'm not I'm not allowed oh not something about a school being 500 yards from a school or whatever I don't know well hey we thank you for everything you do bar School sports is the greatest and uh you know good luck to thank you tell you got best country in America yeah who's winning the game

tell me who you got I got army army all right Yoo Go Army all right we're with Dave pory who Kirk minahan swears to me will be a president of the United States one day so I'm going to hold him to that but uh we're here to talk about the Army Navy game Dave why is the uh game so important it's probably my favorite event I go to the quote that they say it's the only game where everybody playing on the field would die for those watching it so it's a totally different vibe and again uh you know bitter Rivals and then after the game's over they're going to fight Wars for us together so special event special event it's great that bar stool's here it's great that you everything that you do I mean

you are one of the greatest guys that I see from the media standpoint you help out small businesses you help out veterans you help out everybody uh talk to us a little bit about that spirit and how you you know you brought bar stool back and you still giving back to you know your fans and your community yeah well it's our fan base helps us do it a lot because they like to give back so it it's it's whenever we see maybe a cause or something that we can help out with we just jump in it's really not pre-thought out um we're just lucky enough to be in the uh position to help a lot of people when we can and that's what we do well the great Dave Porton are here at the Army

Navy game thank you yeah you know Peter as you mentioned my brother is uh currently Ser serves as a officer in the Navy as well too but let's talk a little bit about what you you know you talked to a lot of uh veterans dur during and prior to the game and during the game and even after the game game let's talk about some of your experiences there well if um I was very fortunate when the game was getting ready to start and we were walking out to the field through a tunnel I saw a folding chair that wasn't being used we picked it up and of course if you have something in your possession they just assume you you know you have it so we walked out to the field and I sat there

right in front of the railing where there was a private party there and um from some company in Boston and I talked to a number of the folks who were veterans and um they were having the time of their lives they had served all over the world and different you know um Beauty locations and different they had been in different branches and U they're all very friendly guys in in gals and um it it was it was very interesting they um and a lot of had never been to an army game Army Navy game before and just really enjoyed that they had the opportunity to watch it in Boston you know one of the great things about the people who attend the games is how many veterans actually attend this game it's Cadets and Veterans

and not a lot of sports fans and so we had the opportunity you know one of the opportunities of myself uh been doing this show for 20 years and first time I've ever made it personal but you're going to see an interview here with my brother who is like I said a naval officer and more importantly some of his friends who were tailgating at the Army Navy game so we're here with Jack a veteran of the Navy served uh in the medical unit on submarines and the theme for the Navy today at the Army Navy game is submarines Jack tell me why it's important for you to be here at the game what this game means to America and a little bit about your military experience uh my military experience uh was 25 years in

the Navy uh most of that on submarines um while we're here today we look uh towards the younger guys I mean every year we come out here they get younger and younger to me the most important thing is at the end of the game we're all one team okay the 60 minutes they're playing on the field they're fighting for individual individual teams but at the end of the day it's a whole one team it's all one team and that's all that's important it's all it's important have you ever been to an Army Navy game before I've been to about uh 16 of them now all right so tell me what you're feeling about this one and you know how how it's different from the others I think this year Navy's got a really good chance

we got a quarterback that can throw the ball okay so it's going to be a good game yes sir so you can end with your line go ahead go Navy beat Army go Navy beat Army all right good to meet you Jack thank you thanks all right this guy right here my big brother Bob featherston biggest pain in the butt that I've ever known but anyway how long in the Navy 37 years 37 years served this country proud why is this game important because we get to gather with a group of friends that we serve with camaraderie is unbelievable um it's it's important to come up here to uh the Boston area we you know with the constit tion in the harbor there it's just a it's just a great experience it's the first time

we've been up here we usually go to Philly or Baltimore or New York and uh the weather's beautiful we're going to be able to see all the festivities today so uh my wife is in the RV there we get an RV every year and gather up our friends and um got a whole bunch of oral surgeons here that I serve with in the Navy and uh get to see you and Wendy so yeah it's a win-win so you've been to more sporting events than anybody I've ever known I mean what's I mean what's your flavor of Gillette and you know the Foxboro area and everything like that your infrastructure sucks okay the to get here is really difficult it Legend legendary like every anybody who's been to a pagri game knows that so I mean

you got four lanes coming into a stadium but other than that the stadium is beautiful Patriots Place is beautiful the RV lot is it's a nice a lot it's a lot better than uh in New York City uh so uh well Bob Craft's been a good friend of uh wacv and he's been a you know he's been he's an institution here in New England he's great you're going to love what you're going to see today yeah I'm I'm the last time I was here you guys didn't have that big video board I can't wait to see it it's going to and and hopefully we have a good visitor here today so who knows all right love you love you too buddy thanks thank one of the greatest things about attending the Army Navy game this

year was what actually what happened outside the stadium we had the opportunity to travel around Patriot Place you're going to see some footage here where we talk to Veterans we talk to current Cadets and we talk to just general sports fans all at the Army Navy game so we're here with Pat at the Army Navy game Pat tell me why you're here and what and what what are your thoughts I think this is a once- in a-lifetime opportunity and from the New England area so to go anywhere else is the perfect opportunity for us I have uh uncle in law that was a commander in the Navy I have a grandfather that was in the Navy so just to come and experience this is a once in a-lifetime opportunity I couldn't pass it up God

in that so true so tell me about the tank you said so this is a new new holy new combat vehicle the M10 Booker is the first combat vehicle that the Army has filled in in in about 30 years since the striker we're going to give this vehicle to our light infantry formation so the 82nd to the 101st we can put two of them on a single aircraft and it can go anywhere that they can go we still love the Abrams tank there is still no better tank in the world to look at another tank go toe to- toe this vehicle though is able to move to some of those places that that the large a tank just can't get to Great wow so exciting times so when is this going to be you know
