Heat. Heat. Heat. We've made it. 12 grade school years completed. And if I'm going to be completely honest, it's hard to believe we've come so far. Today's ceremony represents the impact each graduate had at Nelson County. These experience alongside Nelson County's teachers is a once in a-lifetime experience. High school has been hard. We've been given thousands of entirely new obstacles. We have spectacularly triumphed over them. It is nothing if not hard work and persistence that has lit the fuse to the class of 2025 success. Believe in yourself that you are somebody. If you look up the nail definition of somebody, you will find a person of importance. Never place blame on anyone for your failure. When things get tough, stand tall. Continue to work towards greatness so one day everybody will say, "You know what?
they were somebody. >> With our caps on our heads and our dreams in our hearts, we're finally ready to step out into the world and chase our future. And now, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the Commonwealth of Virginia, I do hereby declare you graduates of Nelson County High School, please turn your tassels. Congratulations, class of 2025. Heat. Heat. You chasing the unknown. Forever it may take us. Are there any amendments or anything that seems to go we need to know before we approve the agenda? >> I entertain a motion. >> I'd like to make a motion to approve the um the agenda as presented. >> Second. >> Any objection that abstains? Motion is approved. >> All right. So, um the first thing up on the recognitions is um you
know, I should probably actually get to that part, too. I get all excited and then I forget to drive. All right. So, um we had um back in was it March? Back in March, we uh participated. Mr. Kennedy was able to uh join me with the VSBA Central Region networking um art contest and it was a an opportunity for several of the school divisions who are within the VSBA central region to get together and a part of that is an art contest. And so we had four total submissions for the art contest and we were um we had two students who were selected to um be uh recognized for uh third place winners. And so we um want to be able to recognize and we have in attendance with us this evening, Miss Summer Pyel.
So please join me. So congratulations. So um Summer uh is one of our high school students. So she uh achieved a third place in the high school division. And do you want to talk a little bit about what we are looking at? Um, so it was a project to do a self-portrait with um different like colors and I chose green. So I chose a picture of myself to paint. >> That's awesome. Yeah. And I like the green and I and kind of Yes. So what we're going to do right now, Summer, if you come closer to me, we're going to have Mr. Walker take a picture and Miss Elizabeth Knight take a picture and Do you want one? Do you want you want to take one? >> Oh, no. I don't >> Oh, no. I
meant Did I didn't know if you had a little camera camera. Okay, it's okay. But um and these have been on display for the last um two months here in central office. And so, if you don't mind, we're going to hold on to it a little bit longer and keep it on display here in the hallways. Um and then we'll be able to return it back to you. >> Okay. That's awesome. So, we want to say congratulations to Summer. You can feel it. Thank you. Oh, hey, and I have something for you. I'm getting um can't carry two things at once, but we want to be able to um give you also a certificate. And on the certificate, what it says is 2026 VSBA Central Region Spring Art Contest. So, congratulations. And that's awesome. Good
job. Yes. And the other student that we had uh achieve a third place finish in this was for the elementary school category is Mr. Miles Major. He wasn't able to make it this evening, but we want to say congratulations to Miles. This was um his entry in third place win. And I I think this is really cool because it's title is the gateway to the mountains. So, if you recognize um you know some of the the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the entrance ways um it's really really cool. Uh and I think it's it's great to have our students um celebrate the local history and be able to reflect that. And um he doesn't say the um if you go through Tai River uh along the walls there's many of the examples of of using
this kind of um technique and being able to celebrate it. So, we just want to say congratulations to Miles Major and um and his entry and we will also continue to display um his entry and then we we have uh the two other entries um also on display that will continue to to do that throughout. So, congratulations. Um next up, we uh celebrate the one Nelson Award. Um, summer if you need to go, you you're don't have to stay the whole time, but you know, we love I'd invite you to stay. No problem at all. Um, but you are welcome to go because I know it's a school night and I know we're right in the middle. And are you 11th grader? >> Yeah, that's a big time. So, you got some SOS and some
things coming up. So, best of luck to you. So, um, so one Nelson Awards, for those of you who haven't been here or are not familiar with the One Nelson Awards, it's an opportunity for us to recognize students, community members, and staff from the classified and the certified categories and their contributions to the understanding that it takes all of us um to help support and provide a successful environment and opportunities for all of our students. And so, the first category that we like to celebrate is the student category. So, I'm going to invite Mr. Noah Shaver up to be with me. So congratulations. All right. So Noah is an outstanding role model who consistently demonstrates respect, kindness, and a strong work ethic. He uses his manners in every setting and treats others with the same
level of care and consideration. Whether interacting with younger students, peers, older students, or adults, Noah's character is defined by his unwavering kindness, respect, and natural leadership. His dedication both in the classroom and in athletics is truly impressive and sets a positive example for others to follow. Noah's deserving recipient for the one Nelson award and NCPS is proud to recognize him. So congratulations. All right, I think mom will probably if you want to step a little bit closer here. Mom, can you get a picture without the podium in there? >> Yeah. >> Way to go, Noah. >> Thank you. >> Did you get Oh, I think she wants a picture. And you can't run away yet because I got something for you. All right, Noah, we have a um the certificate and we also have a
mug. So, I'm going to give you that. And I'm also um going to put this back in here before I break it. Um so, for the others who win the one Nelson award, just understand that it will be in this box, but they're all the same. Okay. All right. Thank you very much. >> Right. Here you go, bud. Thank you. All right. Thanks, Oh. Oh, Noah. Noah, I forgot. We have another nice lady over here taking pictures and I ran away or I made you run away. >> Thank you. All right. Next up, we have a community member, uh, Miss Shelley Smith. All right. Congratulations. It seems like you're moving better. >> I am. >> Well, there you go. That's good. That's a good thing. So, Miss Shelley Smith is a remarkable example of commitment,
resilience, and selflessness within our school community. While serving as a parent chaperon on a recent student trip to Greece, she consistently demonstrated the true spirit of one Nelson. Despite managing personal health challenges, Shelley remained positive, engaged, and focused on supporting both students and staff. She was thoughtful in her interactions, always checking in on students, offering help when needed, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Her perseverance and grace allowed her to put others first, never letting her own difficulties diminish the experience for those around her. Shel's strength, it's okay. U Shel's strength, compassion, and dedication make her an inspiring example of the one Nelson spirit. So, we want to say thank you very much. Do you want to grab one of those little things for us, too? It's not for her. It's for me. No.
>> Yes. You are welcome. So, we're going to have Hold on. You want to >> Oh, but that's better. Yeah. Yeah. >> I end up doing that accidentally, by the way, so I'm so sorry. >> Wish I didn't put waterproof on. >> It's okay. >> Okay. >> We're good. >> I think you look great. >> Oh, so do you. >> Well, thank you. >> Okay. One, two, three. Thank you, Miss >> Miss Knight. >> Absolutely. >> Thank you so much. And here, let me get you your mug. >> I really appreciate this. >> Yes. Here you go. >> Very unexpected and >> It's okay. >> Very appreciate it. >> Well, yes, ma'am. We appreciate you. Thank you very much for your participation on that trip and for serving as a wonderful role model. >> I
really enjoyed it. Great. We had a lot of fun. >> Sounds like I I know we're going to learn a little bit more about that trip a little bit later tonight. So, we're excited about that. Here you go. >> Thank you so much. >> All right. Thank you. Yes. All right. Next up for our classified staff, and I do not believe Miss Watson was able to make it this evening. Um, Miss Melissa Watson. She's not I'm not missing her, is it? Like, she's not going to jump out of me. Okay. All right. So, Mrs. Watson is an exceptional choice for the one Nelson Award due to her kindness, positivity, and unwavering willingness to support both students and staff. She brings a warm and encouraging presence to the classroom. She bu by building meaningful connections that
leave a lasting impact. So much so that students genuinely miss her when she is away. In her work with students, she is consistently calm, patient, and supportive, creating an environment where all feel valued and cared for. Her ability to form strong, lasting relationships both with students and families speaks to her genuine compassion and dedication. Mrs. Watson's kindness and commitment make her truly deserving recipient of this recognition. So, we want to say thank you very much, Mrs. Watson. We appreciate you. Thank you. Congratulations. Thank you. And next up, uh, for our certified class recipient, Mr. David Balber, will you join me, please? Congratulations. So, uh, in case you don't know, Mr. Barber is a history teacher and she is a new teacher this year, uh, and is at the middle school. So, David Balber exemplifies the
spirit of the One Nelson Award through his strong commitment to student success and meaningful instruction. As an eighth grade world geography teacher, he designs engaging student- centered lessons that promote critical thinking and global awareness. Mr. Balber builds positive, trusting relationships with his students through his energetic approach, creating a classroom environment where all learners feel supported and valued. Beyond the classroom, he is a reliable and collaborative colleague who consistently prioritizes the needs of his students. His dedication, professionalism, and positive impact make him an excellent recipient for this award. So, congratulations. You have 11 days left. You're going to make it through. So, that's and and we have testing going on. So, that's also thing. We're gonna do this
one and then that one and then anybody else. Are we ready? >> Yes. >> All right. >> One, two, three. >> All right. For for your boss. >> Awesome. Let me get you your mug. So, hold on one second. Thank you very much. >> Appreciate it. Yes. Great. Thank you very much, guys. I appreciate it. >> Thank you, Mr. Valle. >> All right. Congratulations all on your awards and appreciate y'all attending to receive them. We're moving on to comments from the board. Start with just well I just know it's been a you know really busy and exciting you know past 6 8 weeks and still you know a couple weeks here in front. um you know from our household um our grandson went on a uh trip to Greece and you know of course the
first question we asked was did you get photographs and he said in excess of 1500 okay so he seemed to be very engaged um and then of course prom uh more recently and now we're into um SOS for you know the different grade groups and um everyone wrapping up towards graduation and so it's kind of it's exciting you know it's great to be a part of it um looking forward to graduation and um you know just hoping everybody stay buckled down you know we only have a couple more weeks and then yeah we'll get ready for next here. Anyway, glad to be a part of it. >> Me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, I have had the opportunity to participate in Nelson County Schools activities for the past few weeks and it's been a a
blast and b so rewarding to see what this little county does. I went to the last week to the or I guess it was this week to the middle school bands concert. They have a sixth grade band, a seventh grade band, and an eighth grade band with more kids in each of those grades bands. I was in the band in Wsboro High School and elementary school and middle school. Three times as many. I mean, and they played really difficult music. I was so impressed. Um, went to the Rockfish River Show choir performance. This is the first year they've had their show choir, and those kids could be on Broadway. I you your mouth hangs open and you think, "How did she get I can't get the kids to get the plates from the table to
the dishwasher and these kids are singing and dancing and working together. It's it's just amazing." Um to tomorrow a week from Monday, I'll go to Rich to Richmond to the um excuse me, the Federal Reserve Bank to honor the teams in Virginia that participated in the I'm not sure what it's called, but it was basically an investment competition. and Rockfish River, the three little guys on Rockish in Rockfish River, one from the elementary school level for the whole state of Virginia in terms of investing their money. So, I'll be able to to to accompany kids there and celebrate with them. Our daughter had a list of the activities that we were going to be participating in celebrating on her desk and her partner saw it and wrote across the front of it, "Go Nelson County."
And I couldn't agree more. So, good job. >> Um, well, one, there's another course concert going on right now at Rock Fish River for the second second grade that I'm I'm missing. So, Hi, Jubilee. >> Um, but also I'm, you know, I'm getting ready for my fifth grader to go to middle school and get through all that and he's signed up for band. >> Good, good, good. >> Um, but they they do it pretty well where it's it seems to be just you have to pick course or band, >> which is perfect. music. >> So, good well done on, you know, the form placement. Um, but yeah, so I'm I'm excited to be a part of this and be able to advocate for good things for the schools and um, you know, learning a lot
each day. So, thank you. >> Um, and we want to thank the teachers. It's teachers week. We appreciate y'all. Appreciate the staff. appreciate everybody that came out tonight and you know just ditto what everybody else said. It's a busy time of the year and they run they all run together if you're an employer. You know the kids seem like they think it runs together but for us it just it's a continuous cycle. So we appreciate y'all and um moving on to important dates. Yeah, important dates we have coming up. Um, so kind of a look back, May 1st was uh school lunch hero day where we celebrate our uh school nutrition team and our cafeteria workers and they are uh such an integral piece to our success and we just want to say thank you
so much for all that they do. Um, this week is National Teacher National Teacher Appreciation Week. We also had um and I think it was May 6th, I may have put the wrong date, my fault. National School Nurses Day. Um today is the 7th, so it was the 6th. And um we have a school nurse in each of our schools and they play a real vital role in making sure our students stay healthy um and are prepared and ready to go uh for the school day and can take care of uh our staff and our students whether it's on the day-to-day needs or in case of emergencies. So appreciate and value them a great deal. Um for our mothers and caregivers um here tonight in our division in our community and watching we want to
say thank you and happy Mother's Day. Um for those of you who have forgotten that this weekend is Mother's Day, you have uh a short window in order to make up for that. Um May 15th is our class of 2026 graduation. Um so we look forward to celebrating our goss who will be uh graduating. Start time is 7:30. Uh it will be at the stadium with a backup brain plan of being in the auditori um nope in the gymnasium. And if that takes place, tickets will be required. Uh if you stay around long enough, you'll be able to see the fireworks after uh graduation. So that's always very exciting. Last day of school is the 22nd. So that is coming up quickly. Followed by Memorial Day, which is a division holiday. And then end of
year celebration for our staff will take place on the 26th. I'll be sending that announcement soon. Uh temp uh the thought is it will be at three notched. So that's exciting to be able to support a local venue. Uh we have teacher work days on the 26th through the 27th. Uh retiree celebration is also on the 27th which is that Wednesday, the last teacher work day and then our June school board meeting is on um coming up um June 11th. All right. So that is it for our important dates. Unfortunately, our student representatives were not able to be here. Of course, you know, those who uh participate in things like this are also super busy in a lot of other school activities. Um, but we do want to say thank you very much for their
representation. >> You ready for your path, please? >> Okay, let me get this going and see if I able to get this to work. Yeah. Okay. We're going to do this a different way. All right. Okay. So, uh for our pathways um for uh well, first of all, for my comments, um we are nearing the end of the school year. We have 11 school days left and uh a lot of exciting things are taking place in our buildings to not only uh get students ready for so testing but just getting ready to finish out the school year strong and a lot of celebrations as we've discussed. Um I uh sent a message out to our families and our staff regarding a cyber security breach that took place with Canvas. Canvas is the provider for our
learning management system. Um, and you know, we are working with Vayorp, which is our risk management source, and so we'll be working through them. Uh, we don't have a lot of information about that, but as we get it, we will be sure to share it with our staff and families. We also want to thank our, uh, school board members for, uh, their representation. Um, school board student reps. Uh, these gentlemen are very invested in their schools and involved in many ways, and we appreciate them. Um the senior walk, for those of you who are not familiar, we've got graduation coming up on the 15th, but tomorrow will be the senior walk where they wear their gowns and they walk through the hallways, not only at high school to be celebrated by their peers and their
other classmates, but they go to the middle school, they go to Rockfish, and they go to Tai River. Those who go to Rockfish were ones who um attended Rockfish, those who go to Tai River, and it is a wonderful experience. And I invite our school board to be able to come out and see that in the morning. I will update you on those times if you would like to to be a part of that. It's so cool to watch them um and and um you know sometimes as graduates it's a nerve-wracking time for them uh because they know that this part of their journey is about to wrap up and they're about to start something else. But for our little ones uh it is such a thriller because they see themselves uh being, you know,
those graduates in a few years, but also for our staff. Um that is a time for many of our elementary and our middle school staff to see kids that they taught several years ago uh and see them really reaching that achievement. So it's a it's a great time. Um we have had several appreciation days over the last few weeks. Uh and so we just want to say thank you to everyone and we appreciate uh everything that they have uh to offer our students, our staff, our community, our schools, everything. So we just want to say thank you. In terms of uh pathways to success for administration, like I said, we've been working diligently with Vorp to be able to we've actually have had two separate incidences where we've worked through Vorp um to address certain
um uh system issues and cyber security issues and we appreciate their support. Um and we continue to work and collaborate with other departments and school leaders on the budget. We do not have a state budget yet and as such we also don't have a county budget uh because they're dependent and reliant upon that. Um so just collaborating with departments to identify possible or potential adjustments while also maintaining our school board and our prioriti priorities. The te the team is also um continuing to uh participate in professional development and be a breast of any kind of legislative or budget issues coming down from the state in participating in celebrating superintendent of the year. Um the picture you see here um at a a recent conference we were able to have an opportunity to have the governor
and the state uh secretary of education uh and um others join us and the state superintendent join us um to be able to share some things. So we appreciate that. In terms of instruction assessment, accreditation, um, instruction and data teams have been actively engaged across the division, completing the VTSS fidelity inventory to guide future practices and participating in quarter 3 data meetings with each of the schools and preparing summer learning in next year's professional development. We've also begun planning the administrative summer retreat and continued development of the VTSS handbook. Um, students are gaining real world experiences through partnerships like the uh Nelson Automotive uh tour. You'll see some pictures of it. Well, you see a picture on the bottom where we were able to take automotive students on a field trip. Um, and I appreciate
you guys approving that field trip to take them. It was a wonderful experience and they continue to build um also opportunities to go to local dealerships and local businesses as you see here is this isn't the picture of my fault. This is where they visited the local um business and it's creating those potential workbased learning opportunities and connections and partnerships um in the local area. Uh in terms of special education and um student services, uh pupil personnel has wrapped up key initiatives including the final IPO meeting with James uh Madison University in their TTAC team to strengthen preschool practices. Uh and they completed all fifth and sixth grade transition meetings for students receiving special education services. Our you will uh teleaotherapy program continues to grow with strong student participation and students shined at the tournament
of champions. You see a bulk of those pictures there. Uh that was held at Louisa and that was a a wonderful inclusive opportunity for our adaptive uh students to participate and compete and just experience um a lot of different activities. And we've completed the McKenna Vento audit submission and are preparing for the upcoming state review. Uh so I encourage you to take a look at a lot of those pictures. Um it was just such a wonderful day for our students and our staff. human resources uh have been actively supporting staffing and operations, attending the region 5 HR meeting, conducting interviews for the 2627 school year, and managing job positions, applicant outreach. The team completed class observations, supported VPI reporting and training through VDOE, and processed teacher lensure updates. Additionally, Jen Pard did an outstanding job
coordinating the Golden Governor's Banquet to celebrate our students. It was a a fun evening, a wonderful time to be able to celebrate the top 10% of our graduating class and the mentors they identified is uh supporting them in a significant way. So, it was meaningful for our students, our staff, and all of our families. In terms of technology, uh preparing for summer learning by reading uh about 300 student devices while the elementary teacher laptop refresh is underway with new uh HB Pro books being deployed. team is also developing a tiered technology access framework to strengthen cyber security and support across roles. I want to give a shout out um you know you were talking about how all the the weeks kind of blend together. um our technology team did a phenomenal job in addressing a
ci cyber security concern that we had and they acted um immediately and appropriately and you know as such that was really able to to allow us and our risk management team to be able to get a handle on things and and really didn't result in in a in a big impact. So I I just want to say thank you to our our uh Nelson County technology team for being so um responsive in that way. Um, additionally, a new Gemini knowledgebased project is in progress to improve IT support efficiency and recent schoolboard meetings continue to be recorded and shared for community access. Mr. Cargill is right now doing double duty. He is streaming this meeting right now, but also I believe a choir concert that's taking place. Um, so we appreciate those efforts because that is
a phenomenal way to keep our community connected with us near and far. Um I I always love to hear the instances of contacts where we're getting from well beyond Nelson County. Um maintenance uh is actively preparing for graduation and continuing repairs at Rockfish River Elementary following the water damage. The team is also gathering bids for summer projects, planning additional cleaning uh support due to renovations and attending regular renovation meetings. Safety and operations remain a priority with fire marshall reinspections have been completed and ongoing coordination to repair the bus shop heating system. As you see here in the bottom right, it is also the um buffer tank that has been installed in order to work on the water chiller. Um transportation celebrated school transportation driver appreciation day recognizing all drivers, mechanics, and office staff with breakfast
and support from schools. The team also remained busy operationally facilitating 90 trips in April and safely transporting students and staff over 9500 miles. So, we want to say thank you very much for those opportunities. Um, school nutrition has been actively engaging students in the community, hosting events, celebrating staff, and incorporating fresh local foods into our cafeterias. Prep preparations for the summer food service program are complete, including take-home meals for students. The team is also supporting summer EBT access, partnering with local organizations, and exploring new initiatives to expand scratchmade, locally sourced meals for the school year. And you see that icon in the upper corner. That is that um representation of the Blue Ridge Area Buying Group, Creative Culinary Collective, which is really helping to support the from scratch and local foods process. So, we want
to say thank you very much for those efforts. And for the uh month of April, we had 11,578 breakfast, uh 16,484 lunch, and 419 suppers. Community engagement, there was a lot going on over the over the last month where we've had a production of Winnie the a community production of Winnie the Pooh, but it was directed by one of our high school seniors, Khloe Williams, and also had several NCPS students participate. with culminating initiatives like the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that brought together a year-long focus on reading. Uh Tai River or Yep. Ty River continued with their Earth Day celebrations. Uh we promoted and held Nelson's Got Talent, which is a wonderful event where all of our students had an opportunity to really show off what they've got. Teacher appreciation week, we talked
about uh there have been several celebrations on behalf of our staff and teachers by our PTAs and other supporting organizations and staff members. So we thank them for that. Band and chorus had their end of year concerts uh last Tuesday and tonight. Um they had planned really really well but we had moved the meeting. So uh otherwise uh we would not have had that conflict. Um book fairs were held in several buildings and it was a great way to promote reading but also a great fundraiser. Um we also have a partnership with uh Blue Ridge Medical Center where they held their Nelson wellness days but we provide the space for that. Uh and so that will take place on July 18th. That's where student athletes can get free physicals. You can get immunizations. There's a
lot of great opportunities to promote health and wellness. Um Golden Governor celebration took place, that middle picture that you see there, uh gearing up for the high school uh class of 2026 graduation. Um summer learning organization and promotion. um FFA uh put on not only a drive your tractor to school event, but also um a Food for America initiative where high school FFA students hosted fourth graders and really educated them on where our food comes from and aspects of growing it and producing it. So, it was a wonderful event that promoted leadership for our high school kids, but a wonderful learning opportunity for our younger students. And it incorporated um past students with some of the animals that were used to be uh for the demonstrations, but also community members and showing off uh their
tractors and some other uh equipment. And then lastly, our automotive students had got a thrilling experience by going on a field trip uh to be able to to experience some things. So, we just say thank you so much for those opportunities and supporting that. As I mentioned, we've had teacher appreciation week, uh, National School Nurse Day, May 6th, um, school lunch heroes day, um, national school bus driver appreciation, which was April 28th, and also administrative professionals day. These are the people behind the scenes making it all run and work, and that was April 22nd. So, we just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to that. Any questions? No. All right. Did we have anybody sign up for public comment? >> We did. >> Uh, Miss uh, we have two individual. >> Miss
Allen, you know, you got >> Okay. >> My name is Rebecca Allen and I'm the NCAA president. So, good evening members of the school board. I am standing here tonight to share the news that this will be my final school board meeting serving as the NCAA president. As I prepare to transition out of this role, I want to thank the board for the opportunity to represent our educators and serve our school community. I have served as president since 2019 and have truly appreciated and believed in the work of the NCAA. I would like to expend extend a special thank you to Shannon and Caesar who have served on the board alongside me throughout my term. Your consistent history of prioritizing staff's well-being and really weighing the professional impact of your decisions has meant a lot
to the teachers and the staff that I represent. So, thank you to the full board. I wish you clarity and success as you continue the vital work of supporting our students and educators. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and wish the district nothing but the best as you carry on. And to my fellow NCEA members, the dedicated NCPS staff, and to the citizens of this county, I con encourage you to continue working together with a shared spirit and purpose. Our greatest strength lies in our collaboration. By keeping our focus fixed on prioritizing quality education and supporting those who provide it, we ensure a bright future for every student who calls NCPS home. Thank you for the memories and the partnership. I look forward to seeing you all the great things this
community will continue to achieve together. Juan Nelson Good evening and thank you for the opportunity to speak. My name is Mia Juel and I'm here to provide a few comments regarding the potential provision allowing homeschool middle school students access to the athletic program. I'm a homeschooling parent from neighboring Amherst County and I'm here because what you decide regarding this matter um goes far beyond Nelson County. At its core, this issue is about fairness and equal access. Homeschool students in Virginia already meet state requirements through testing and annual academic evaluations. They are not outside accountability. They are simply educated differently. It's also worth noting that students enrolled fully in virtual Virginia public school programs are already eligible to participate in public school athletics. That means two students learning at home can be treated differently based solely
on enrollment status which raises a question of consistency and access. These families also contribute to the same tax base that support school athletics. Allowing homeschool students to try out is not about guaranteeing spots, but it's about offering equal opportunity. Many states already do this successfully with clear eligibility standards, and it strengthens both teams and communities. I encourage you to consider a policy rooted in inclusion, fairness, and community strength. Thank you for your time. All right, that concludes our public comments. Uh we're on to the consent agenda. Um, second reading of the March 12th, 2026 meeting treasures report from April 2026, March 2026 monthly financial report and April 26 monthly financial report. Any >> any questions? I make a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Second. All in favor? >> I. >> Any
opposed? Motion carries. All right. Items for information. >> All right. I encourage you to take a look at the uh first reading for the April 2nd meeting minutes. they are um included within. >> Okay. >> And we have a a a speaker to present some information on the student crease trip. So Mary Mullins, are you the are you the designated >> speaker? Are you going to have uh moral support or? >> Uh not really. >> Okay. You have it here. >> I'm here. >> Um I did email you a presentation. >> Okay. Hey, you just sent a video too that was put together by >> You did your mic. I'm just going to bring this over. >> Yeah, of course. I'm going to do the best I can to get that bad boy up there.
>> Yeah, that mouse seems like it's having some problems. >> Oh. see if it'll load. There we go. >> So, we're going to go with the uh slideshow first. How about that? Okay. >> Uh-huh. Thank you. >> You just nod at me when you want me to move on. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. So, earlier in April, we went on a uh Greece trip. It was really fun. We had a really amazing group of kids. Um all the chaperones really helped. Miss Knight, who made it, where did she go? She made it all possible for everything to go as smoothly as it did through the airport, which we did have a 7-hour layover in Turkey, but she made it very clear where we were supposed to be, what times and everything, and everything was
settled perfectly. And um we got there, what time did we get there the first day? >> We got there at like 1:15, you said? Yeah. So, we got there around 1. and um you can go ahead and move to day one. So, we did kind of just like a basic tour around Athens cuz we didn't have a lot of time before we had to go to our hotel. But, um on the right, the top right, that's us, well, that's the chaperones um at our first dinner. And then below that is us on the bus, which I didn't put many pictures of us on the bus, but there were tons and many pictures of us sleeping on the bus. Um, we were very tired. But over on the side as us uh walking through the streets,
the little shops throughout Athens were gorgeous and they were really just like sweet. It was nice. Like Nelson is a very like cute little town, but it was nice to be able to like walk through a little place that had like nice little roads and shops lining the streets. Um, next. And then day two, we got up bright and early um to go see the Parthnon. And we also walked through Athens a bit more and got a gorgeous view of uh I think that's the that's not the stadium. Um but that's like a part of like old Athens that's still within the area. Um and then the two on the right are pictures of the Parthonon and another uh place up on the Acropolis. and our tour guide was amazing and she was able to
give us information on that. It was a very educating trip as well as fun. Um and we got tons of gorgeous views of the beach and the um the seas that we were by. It was just really fun overall. Um this was the day we went to three different islands. Um we had a three-hour trip to the first one on a boat and it was a very long trip. It was that part wasn't fun at uh the really cold morning, but once we kind of settled in, it was nice. Um, a lot of us had a lot of fun like leaning over the railing and finding jellyfish. Um, we there was an island that we got to go to the beach, the bottom uh picture in black and white, that was me and a few
other girls that we got to go and hang out at this little beach. It was really cute. in all the little towns. They were just there were lots of donkeys, donkey things. Like there was on one of the islands there was just like a line of donkeys and horses that you could pay to get like a town ride around the um little island. It was really cool. And actually one of my friends is they're obsessed with donkeys. So I got tons of donkey stuff for her and she had a lot of fun with that. Um and then on the top right that's us at the very end of the trip. The um sunset was gorgeous and even though we were really tired, we had a lot of fun throughout that day. Um on day four,
what was this? Where did we go on day four? >> So that is the Mian ruins, >> right? Yes, the Mian ruins. So I had I had like 1,000 pictures by the end of the trip. I did cut down to like 500 though, but I didn't get to fit as many as I wanted on this slide. But there I had so many beautiful pictures of the views from up there and just the structure of the ruins, they were still so like beautifully kept together. Like even though they're really old and you would think they'd be really run down, it was still absolutely gorgeous. and um just the landscaping of it and everything throughout that day. We also went to another temple that day and we got to walk through it. Um I have a similar
picture of us somewhere else that's later in the slides that looked very similar to it. But this day like something I liked about this trip and the same with the England trip last year. Um we had lots of like free time to like explore things on our own. Like on the way to things, our tour guide would give us an overview of what we were going to see, but then when we got there, we got to walk around on our own and kind of see the things we really wanted to see and take pictures where we wanted to. It was our tour guide was amazing. >> I'm going to clarify that when I say on our own, I mean in >> Yes, in chaperon groups. Yes, we had a school person with us. There were
like five to six per group. We had a school uh adviser and then we had a parent, too. And actually up on the top right is our my little group um minus one person. That's my dad and my friend Ava, Satie and Laya. And then me and we had the best time. My dad decided he he was a different person this trip than England. It was just I think it was because like my >> warmer >> it was warmer. It was definitely warmer. Um it was a lot more easy to be happy around. Um but um in the middle up there there's a boat picture. We got to take a little boat ride and see a uh fortress. And actually one of the fortresses we wanted to go to ended up being closed at the
time we were supposed to go to it. It was uh Easter for them and so we were supposed to go to them like early in the morning but when we got there we realized it was closed and we were like okay. So, we went down to the town and we got to walk around in our little groups and have some fun. And then we went back up a bit later and took some more pictures and talked about it a bit more. And then actually that morning, a small group of us woke up, I don't know, like at 5 or something to go see the sunrise by our hotel. It was gorgeous. I have about 30 pictures just from that morning because of just how beautiful the waves were with the sun. And then um that
night you can see my dad there in some uh robes that they put on him. Um you must >> have cleared this. >> I had to. Um, but this night we went and uh got to have some fun with a traditional like Greek evening and we there was a show that went on and there were multiple times that like they asked people to get up and dance with him and we learned a fun little dance and um that was and then after he would they were like, "Okay, we need some more volunteers." So they got my dad and a few other people to uh cuz they they did a plate smashing type thing and so they got them to clean that up as a uh yeah as a little competition. He did win. He did
win. I have a six minutee long video of it. Um and then after that because he was the winner they got to take him to a somewhere and put these robes on him and I also got roped into that. Um, but a lot of us had got were able to put on the nice like Greek outfits and have fun and we danced around in them. We got plenty of pictures. Overall, Greece was just a really fun and educational trip and the people we were with were incredible. Miss Knight, like I mentioned earlier, she made all of this run so smoothly that you wouldn't even know it was a school trip. It felt like vacation and it was a really like it felt like such a nice It felt like such a nice little like break
from school, but still learning. We still got to learn things about traditional Greek history, culture, and just where we went. It was just it was an amazing trip. Thank you. >> Do you remember how to say good evening? >> I do not remember how to say good evening. >> Kadisa, >> huh? >> Kadisa. >> Kadisper. >> How many students were on the trip? 26. >> 26. And how many chapters did we have? Uh we have uh six parents and six school shepherds. >> Okay. People did things to play. >> Um it was just a a very short video. Oh, the one that >> Yeah, there was like it might not want to play for you. >> Oh, here we go. Heat. Heat. Oh, is that it? >> Yeah, that's the video. >> Oh, I'm sorry.
>> No, it is. And then um I just want to say so we had so much amazing food and so there are some treats for you that are made here. We didn't bring it back. Um there's which is a traditional Greek casserole and baklava with pistachios. They call them pistakios and um some spanicopida and some homemade whole milk Greek yogurt with some honey spoons. Um if you have any concerns about allergies or ingredients, um just let me know and I will send you um everything that's in them. So, thank you. >> Thank you all so much. Um, congratulations to y'all to everyone that participated in the trip and um, I know y'all worked hard as a fundraiser to get this done and we appreciate the the whole community helping y'all out to make this possible
for you. Mr. Campbell, CIP update. One second. >> I'll just say that I have to call that presentation. That looks a lot more fun than what I'm hearing. >> Some dancing, please. >> Technical difficulties here. Acrobat. You just had to stand near me. >> Appreciate that. You just had to hear me. It's okay. >> All right. So, uh I want to give you all an update on where we are in the renovation process. Um July the 25th is substantial completion date and I'm counting them down. It's been a good process uh um process and it's been easy to work with MB contractors through it. So um it's we we're still expected to come in on budget and on time as of right now. So speaking from con construction point of view, that's a lot to
be said. Yeah. Um, so, uh, the contractors have completed work in the C5 and C6 classroom areas, and those spaces have been turned back over to us. Uh, work is currently underway in the e-lex area, including that includes the gym, the old auditorium, and both boys and girls locker rooms. Um, the DOAZ units, which is a dedicated outdoor air units, is three of those that were installed. They're currently being um in the process of being commissioned by FDE facilities dynamics. That's a third party commissioning agency. Um uh painting continues throughout the building and is uh is progressing as scheduled. Um a lot of painting being involved. Um the renovation some of the uh renovations in the e-lex area which they're in now which I mentioned. Uh some of what they're doing is fire alarm component
upgrades, installation of new ceilings, painting, new window blinds, HVAC unit replacement and associate piping and lighting upgrades. Um we did have to do a hazardous material test in the old auditorium before some of the work could be done and all of that those results come back negative. So that work was able to proceed on schedule. Um, in addition to the new chiller lines, uh, have been installed fully installed throughout the high school and is in service now. So, we're we have a more conventional fourpipe chiller bowler system as the rest of the school does now. So, I'm sure Mr. Walker appreciates that. Uh, some of the uh, larger projects that are coming up this summer, I fig I feel like I could share some of them with you. These are definitely not all of them,
but these are just what we're what we're looking at this summer. It's going to be a really busy summer to finish this um by date. Yes. Uh some of the work includes um milling and overlaying the side teacher parking lot. Uh we've done every other parking lot. That's the last one left to do. Um generator replacement. Uh replacement of both storefronts in the cafeterias. Um flooring replacement in the hall corridors. Courtyard drainage improvements. drainage repairs along the road in front of the greenhouse. Uh sanitary drain replacement in the IT area. Uh replacement of the kitchen uh large walk-in refrigerator freezer unit. And uh some network upgrading. Uh some of the uh we we're down to the the dreaded water cooled chiller. Uh a year later, we're still discussing this chiller. Uh we finally was able
uh the buffer tank for the chiller arrived on April the 23rd. Honeywell is planning the installation. They have installed it. Um they it was actually started up today. Um it ran the first cycle it ran for 27 minutes and then it satisfied because there's not much uh demand for it right now because it's so cold outside. And then it cycled again for another 7 minutes. Um, so we're we're keeping an eye on that and it looks like the forecasted weather is it's going to be fairly mild and cool. So we're working with Honeywell that the temporary chiller is in place and has been cooling the the CTE wing down in in the meantime. Um, so there there going to be an agreed upon between Nelson County Public Schools and Honeywell when we feel comfortable that
that unit will be pulled out once we verify that this water culture is running and operating as it should. Uh there isn't they have also it's not in here but they've also extended they're offering an extended warranty for 12 months. uh once in carrier's eyes once the unit was fired up a year ago that started their time clock for their warranty process uh period and so that's over with now but uh Honeywell uh through several meetings with Mandy and I attended um they have uh agreed on an extended 12-month warranty period for that chiller once an agreed upon start date of that uh warranty process >> we discussed where it needs to be in 48 hours >> yes >> um in order to establish success. >> Yep. And uh some some uh other divisions u
Mandy talked about it in the pathways. We've had a uh unit a large unit in a bus shop area that failed back in January. Uh Honeywell has since then had to fix that and that's back up and operational. Um it's just some of the older equipment we're running into um issues now. So I know the guys in the bus shop were happy we got that back up and going. They could have heat. Uh, and then that there's some add there's some pictures below of the renovation. >> I want to insert like uh we do have I I do I want to make sure that everybody's aware of this. We do have an ongoing concern with the HVAC unit at Rockfish. Um it is it's a part of its original um the entire HVAC system, but
more specifically one that we're really struggling with is a rooftop HVAC system. um to the point where when we when I spoke with um our Honeywell individual, she had indicated that even when in conversations throughout the Commonwealth with different school divisions that she works with, her concern about the rockfish rooftop unit is bigger than the others that she has concern about. So, that is something that we we have to really pay attention to um and understand that that is that is a more immediate um item that we're going to need to address. And we and we're working through some >> Yeah. I mean, I think I think we need to see, you know, the estimates of the cost and understanding. You know, it could be 2.5 or 2.7 for the entire or it could be
maybe 500. >> It's 500,000. >> 500,000 for the rooftop. >> Yeah. So, I think those are things that we're really working through to figure out what what do we need to do. >> Yep. So any 500,000 and then build off build the rest of the system upgrades from that one or >> Yeah. So that's an individual unit. So yeah, you can replace that one unit and still >> then move >> down the road move forward and replace other units. That that that one particular unit. Um there's six compressors in that unit. Uh, five of those compressors have been replaced through the years. So, um, the the unit itself, the inner wall has been rebuilt by Honeywell so many times because it actually the over time the metal just gets weak. Yeah. >> And when that
unit starts up, the the box actually flexes. You can actually see inside. You can watch that wall give way. So, >> it's one of those things, you know, you saying, you know, you you drive it to the wheels fall off. We're about ready for the wheels to fall off of this. So, >> Okay. Yeah. >> Okay. Any questions? >> Okay. Thank you. >> I'm showing off your pictures. >> Okay. >> All right. So um in terms of first reading uh we have um a first reading for a proposed policy of digital accessibility and this would be a new policy. We've not had something like this before. So as you can um see all of this there are no red lines as it is brand new. Uh and so um in essence you know recognize that
information communication technology it's a fundamental tool for education uh employment and public access universal access to ICT is essential to ensure that students employees and members um of the public with disabilities have equitable access to activities of the school division. So I encourage you to make sure we familiarize ourselves and and ask any questions that we might have of the course. We'll have a second reading in June. Okay. and the title one. >> Um, so Mr. Blaker will be presiding. We are at that time of year where we are beginning to draft up the federal and federal grants, otherwise known as title one, two, three, four. So he's going to present on the highlights of what uh we are looking to build those grant um ideas off of. >> All right. Good evening, members of
the board. Thank you for your time this evening. As Dr. Hester had mentioned, uh we're in the midst of uh building our federal grants for submission uh as they are due in uh the end of June. So, Title One um is used to support specialized instruction. So, our two title one schools are both Rockfish and Tai River. And our focuses there are instructional uh focuses aimed at uh literacy and mathematics instruction and student performance. Uh we're going to focus on more professional learning for our staff in those areas of literacy and math. Uh we want to support family workshops and engagement activities that center around both literacy and math. And the funding uh from that grant is used to support our elementary instructional coach. Our four reading specialists, we have two reading specialists at each
elementary school. uh also used to support family engagement events, professional learning for uh the teachers at Rockfish and Tai River, as well as literacy and math instructional resources and our Title One grant. If you're wondering what's the amount, it's $619,000 619693. Title two uh focus is uh to increase student achievement and a focus is for all schools uh support teachers in the area of mathematics uh to deliver professional learning. Support professional learning communities meetings, school data meetings and model and co-e lessons. Provide interventions for identified students in the area of mathematics. support family workshops and engagement activities centered around mathematics and partner with school division leaders to promote the implementation of best instructional practices in all of our mathematics classrooms across the division. So what we want to do with title two is look to
bring on a full-time division math coach. Uh the past few years we have had a secondary math coach uh who has taught part-time at the high school and has supported both the middle and the high school. With the new math curriculum that's coming on board K12, we feel that uh this would be an important individual to help teachers and support our math initiatives with the new curriculum K12. So, our goal for that funding is to be applied for a division math coach. The number uh that we get there is $78,11216. Title three funds are used to support English proficiency for our ESOL students. Focuses there uh are across all schools and of course supporting our ESOL students across all four of our schools. provide intervention supports for our ESOL students, support family workshops and engagement
activities that center around both math and literacy for our ESOL students. The funding will support material and supplies to enhance ESOL instruction, professional learning for our two ESOL teachers and ESOL coordinator. um interpretation services for family meetings and also we use a platform Summit K12 which is a connect uh literacy program and that is supplemental curriculum that's designed to accelerate uh English for our ESOL students and uh to help them perform better on uh the WEDA assessment and uh we received $6,642.94 from title three funds. And finally, our Title 4 uh grants provide student support and academic enrichment to improve school conditions, technology use, and well-rounded education in all four of our schools. We uh utilize funding here to support behavior interventions, uh to support our GPS program, support social and emotional education, as well
as college and career readiness. So the funding directly supports an instructional assistant within our GPS program, our ISS supervisor at the middle school. We utilize it for AI and cyber security education for both students and families. We also are looking uh current we you we use major clarity which is a college and career readiness platform but we're looking to move to uh Zello as we feel that that will do more for our students. uh and it is a K12 college and career readiness platform whereas if major clarity currently only focuses at the secondary level. Uh we also utilize it for some of uh our character strong program uh that teaches social and emotional life skills and uh belonging and academic engagement. Total title four funds we received $36,4615. So, that is a quick overview of
uh how we plan to utilize those funds moving into next school year. Do you have any specific questions related to any of those? >> I guess who are these submitted to? Is it BDOE or DOE? >> Yep. BDO. >> Yeah, that deadline is June 30. >> We had a conversation earlier today. So, our next meeting is June 11th where we'll ask the formal approval. The sooner we turn it in, uh the sooner we get notified of our funds. So that's always a a good thing. >> Is there a question? Yeah. Um on the title one grants, you mentioned that the coming supports will be for an elementary school instructional coach. Is this an additional one? Is it for math? Is it for literacy? Is it for both schools? Is having >> Yeah, we currently have
one coach who supports both schools >> in both content areas. >> Yes. So she she is doing both. Now, the idea is if we get the title two funding for the division math coach, that would allow her to focus more on literacy, history, and science, uh, and allow the math person to focus more on the math. >> Do how confident do you feel that these funds will be granted? We've had success uh in the past. Title two, like I said, we're we're kind of shifting some to a full-time division math coach, but I think we have a good argument being that the new math curriculum and and everything that we're in incorporating going into next year. So, I feel pretty confident that we should be successful. >> This is great. >> Additionally, um as we
take a look at data, uh not only here in Nelson, but across math is an area that is needing um a lot of consideration. um it is one of those content areas that when there is a a break in continuity of learning uh it really significantly impacts um the learning of math. Uh and so we know that but also uh with initiatives legislatively on advanced courses or really taking a look at things to bolster there in the last few years there have been um pieces of legislation to focus on additional math coaching supports. So I think we are trying to get ahead of this and to to really address the needs that we see of our students um as we see it through our data but also um as we see coming down of of
what some of those needs are going to be. >> And the amazing thing with our coaches too is you know they're there to support new teachers as well as tenure teachers. They can co-e, they can model, but also they're in those PLC meetings weekly with teachers talking about curriculum, looking at student data, planning where to go next, but they also are working more and more with all of our teachers to connect content across all areas. Uh, and that's one of the things that I will say at the elementary level, CKLA, the the new reading um program that curriculum that we've been using there is really built to to intertwine and connect curriculum across science, history, math, and literacy. So again, I'm excited about the opportunity um as I think those folks make a huge difference
uh in our buildings. I just have to say, as I always seem to be saying, that how pleased and impressed I am about your priorities and your use of data and your the way Nelson County is keeping up with what has been researched and then using that in our world to make the best opportunities for our kids in literacy and math particularly. So, thank you. >> Well, thank you. Appreciate it. Any other questions? >> Excellent. Thank you all for your support. Dr. Hester, you guys. >> Um, yeah, I I I think it's a little bit short and sweet. Um, we do not have any updates in terms of the state budget. Um, I know we um really want to be uh thoughtful about um having the conversations with our counterparts um for supervisors. cuz I
know we have a couple people here um with us about um as we move forward with um seeing how things shake out at the state and county level, but you know, as we've mentioned before, we're continuing to collaborate with our department leaders and our school leaders to identify areas. Um we monitor our enrollment processes, our staffing processes, but also um to have the future conversations about turnback funds and how we can and um really see how we can uh develop some plans for that. Moving on to items for action. >> So we have the second reading for GBCEA. Mhm. GBCE uh family medical leave and second reading. Uh so that was introduced in I believe February and there was an update in uh March and then another update. So what you see is would be
that final version for us um and no other changes to that. And then the second item is LBD, the home instruction. As we spoke the last time, um the changes that were made last November were more uh to address um preserving the rights of homeschool families, parents, and students in the and the information that is shared with the VDOE and shared outside. So that's really um this has been in our our uh policy, but it's just making sure we go back through and make and and um approve it this this possible time. >> Okay. And moving on to the >> um >> math textbooks. >> So items for action, we want to make sure that we approve that >> the math tech. >> No. Um yes. >> Yeah. Second reading for GBCA too. So >>
yeah, we need >> you want to do it as a poll or just >> uh I think I think we need to go I I think this probably is more deserving as the individual as opposed to overall consent. >> Okay. >> Yep. If you don't mind. >> No, no problem. So >> yeah, I'll I'll make a motion to um approve the the we're making a motion to actually approve the policies as presented at this point, right? >> Yes. >> Yeah. I'd make a motion to do that. You said that. >> There you go. I second. Uh >> ready to vote. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? No abstensions? Motion carries. All right. Approval of the math textbooks. >> So I you know it's all blurring together. I I don't I think it
may have been April, but it could have been March. Um we had uh spent quite a bit of time um working with our elementarymentaries because we're looking to um update our math textbooks. Um and there had been uh quite a bit of work to identify our next textbooks and and um through input from the board and from others wanted to take another look at at any other options. And um one of the other options that and this is what we want to move forward with is doing a pilot um with Amplify. Um so that pilot will you know for a year um and I believe correct me if I'm wrong Mr. Bleco that is free for a year. >> Yes it is free for a year to be able to see if this is what
we want to move forward with. Um it is entirely possible that at the end of this year um we decide we want to go in a different direction but um we want to make sure that we um exhaust our options in in researching it and looking into it. And it was a pretty um definitive vote uh delineation on this. So um definitely a major a significant majority wanted to go in this direction. >> The only cost to us would be student workbooks. Uh other than that there would be no other cost. >> Okay. >> Does that include professional development? >> Yes. >> From the vendor from >> Yes. >> Any other questions from the board? I entertain a motion. >> Back to it. Um, I move that we approve the amplified elementary math textbook pilot
program. >> Call for vote. >> A second. >> I mean second. >> And we vote in >> favor. I no abstensions, no nays. Motion carries. All right. Approval of special education committee members for 2026 2027 school year. Any discussion? If I can get a motion. I'll make a motion to approve the Nelson County Public School special education advisory committee members for the 2627 school year as presented. >> Second and all in favor >> I motion carries. There was no obstensions and no objections. Transportation surplus items. I did have one question in that I saw in the generator replacement thing are we are we is the extra generator a surplus item eventually too does that get sold or is that >> uh we haven't discussed it but that's something possibly can do >> I don't know
if it's marketable but >> yeah I mean it's it's it's huge >> I figured >> govdees.com it's amazing what you can find on there >> not me you can buy it off gov deals made. >> Yeah. Yeah. That's that's how we surplus. >> Yeah. Uh can I get a motion to approve the surplus items? >> Make a motion to approve the surplus items. >> I second that. >> Uh all in favor. >> I >> no hearing no nays and no extensions. Motion carries. approval of the we have two separate field trips for the FFA. One is a um overnight trip to Virginia Tech. >> It's the it's the a state convention. It's a really great opportunity um if you get a chance to read through the narrative of it. Um it is um they go
to Virginia Tech to complete the career development event. So it's a competition. So um underneath all these uh various competitions, it's really cool opportunity for our students. So they're very excited for it. >> The first one is is in June 6th through the >> 11th, >> I mean 8th through the 11th, right? >> Yep. >> And the second one is the in July and that's just a one day trip. >> It is um three days. >> It's a it's a leadership. >> Okay. I see the 10. >> Yeah. to traveling to Graves Mountain. >> So, if we can get a motion to approve those two field trips, >> I'd like to make a motion to approve the FFA state competition overnight trip to Virginia Tech. Um, and also to approve the FFA uh leadership camp
overnight trip to Graves Mountain Lodge. >> Can I get a second? Second. >> All in favor? I Hearing no nays and no motion carries. Approval of NCPS NCPS staff. >> So through the state budget um it was proposed and approved for um um SOQ positions and um onetime bonuses uh $1,500. And so um there is some flexibility to pay it out of this year and next year's. We are selecting to pay it out of this year's funds. Uh 1,500 for full-time, 750 for part-time and that would be paid out at the end of June. >> Anybody else have any questions? Okay, no questions. I have a motion. >> I move that we approve the bonuses for CPS staff. Second call for vote. I >> I. >> All in favor to vote and no abstensions and
no nays. Vote carries. Motion carries. Sorry. And requests for the end of school year >> remaining balance of school year budget to then be submitted to a CIP fund. So, I referenced this in our update our budget update talks um to uh really uh put a formalized had a conversation with Miss McGary earlier this week and really put a more formalized request in for that um um serves several purposes.
