I'm working can you hear us now we can hear you beautifully now well you missed a really important yes thank you Jamie great job all right I love this next up athletic record s so I want to start off with the numbers because we have officially started finally practicing this week um and we still seem to be getting registrations but that's great um so compared to last year where uh during The Fall season for soccer we had 121 athletes this year there's 118. however cross country was at 12 last year and is up to 14. so we have exactly the same amount of value in our program um as I said we finally are underway with practices um but the weather has not been cooperated so we are behind we have our first five six

games or tomorrow night and they're having their first perhaps they had their first practices yesterday um there was a little informal step over the weekend um but it is what it is we're all in the same boat um we have had to Pivot this year with Middle School soccer um we had enough athletes to feel the girls and boys teams however there are some dual involved athletes and some that also play extracurricular activities so we couldn't guarantee that we were going to be able to always have the right numbers that we were working on being co-ed sometimes and then it came down to we were preparing poison to fields and it is not usable um where we were able to use it last year uh the rain this whole entire summer caused some sick pulls

one being some estimate 75 to 100 feet wide right in the middle of the soccer field so where we could probably make little fields on the skies and sides of that there are also a lot of divots somebody drove on the field so there are about six inch ruts over it um and full disclosure we have no control over this field and what it's used for so to pump money into it to get it to a place where we can use it um just isn't feasible right now um I think it is a discussion that I would like to have with the town um but I also know there's not a lot of money in their Parks and Rec line item I think it's like two thousand dollars a year so um we had to

Pivot we've combined with Windsor for seventh and eighth grade they only had a co-ed team and our numbers matched up perfectly that now we can have a full team of girls a full team of boys with Subs Windsor is hosting the boys um and because we had fewer boys three Windsor girls are coming over to us um and playing for Wethersfield and we've combined our game schedules our officials which was already an uphill battle um so in the end I feel really good about what we're giving the athletes um you know slightly less than ideal because we love Wethersfield and I'd love to be able to say you can do it um our field here is not adequate size it wasn't last year and it's even smaller this year for seventh in eighth grade it

is grossly small like 90 to 100 feet small on all four so um here they will get to play their home games girls and boys um the lettersfield team as well will have their home games at the loser field and I really want to say thank you to Jim Taft and to Brian Woodbury for pivoting with us I think it's a great solution as well it gives all that athletes more games um and co-ed is perfectly great and wonderful and Alive inside to play that way but it's also really nice to just be able to go to strong teams so that is an update um I don't know whether that is going to leave us with closington going forward but I have to see um uh cheerleading has not started yet so I don't have

the registration numbers for that um my hours shifted in the office a little bit and just to you know our kids are now playing higher level Sports not just Saturday mornings anymore so we're trying to figure out how to do all that um the after-school care is something I still want to point out we are using it is five days a week for an hour um and it is utilized so a little short this week um with the staff person not being able to to do it so I've been sitting as quietly as they can in the hallway outside of my BJ's office um but they will be using the Makerspace in the library media center that's where the staff person will take them for a quiet time for work um for that hour but

um it is hugely popular so we have fifth through eighth grade all teams staying we have the Windsor girls coming over on a bus from Windsor and then they join the after school um oil for repair whatever you want to call it um so it is definitely of value and it's also an expense so um it's just something I want to keep mentioning it'd be great if we can find creative ways to keep going with it and uh right now we're making it work let's go all I have is we don't have much underway yet are there any questions thank you thank you all right next up we were student Boardman student board member Finnegan Kelly and he's going to talk a little bit about leadership all right you ready do you wherever you feel

comfortable um hello my name is representative for Wethersfield school I'm a member of the leadership elective and I'm excited to share with you the overall plan we have laid after this year we have many activities planned for each month with the exception of June for example we will be having half day on the 29th of September where students will have feet aware have their choice 100 of donations when we're losing candies MacKenzie's Humane Society in October we will be doing a guess the way to the pumpkin game where students can pay to guess political pumpkins and whoever comes closest within a prize the following month in November the school will hold Thanksgiving dinner for members of leadership elected the weight tables and tips these tips are both directly into the leadership budget in December the

gift Fraser for teachers is planned will raise gifts to give our teachers Christmas gifts there will also be another hat day where we will give um proceeds to someone in need there will be a spirit week in December as well along with an ugly sweater contest for teachers to win prizes in addition to that we have a toy dried but we can give a choice to those in need or Global Children's Hospital in January you'll have snow cones for sale outside because to the 19th it's like it to be one dollar per column and if you would like to purchase a snow cone syrup we'll have to pay 18 in February February frozen chocolate sales since Valentine's Day in March will sell snacks at the school's production of Beauty and the Beast these snacks will

put things like popcorn pretzels and candy in April there will be one more half day of received support for all proceeds which go to the mega boys foundation in may you have a memorial day service to honor veterans um and also in addition to this this year we have an advisory Olympics where students compete in two games each month to find out the winning advisory the winning advisory will get a prize the fun team building activity for the students that yeah to the plan that we have so far and I have your questions so I met with the leadership class on Friday and they went over all of the stuff that they wanted to propose to do so we're also coming to you to make sure that within reason that we can do these small

things most of them argue backs to our community some of them are for them to be able to raise some funds just for the leadership to go back to the students I'm really excited about the leadership class and what they have planned this year they're actually taking over Red Ribbon Week as well and so they're going to help plan those activities and we just keep piling more and more on there so there's 12 of you in that class over 13. yeah and with Mr santangelo being the student advisor that's his elective class that he's running it's a great group of kids and we've got anywhere from sixth through eighth graders in the class and they're doing a fantastic job already and they have ideas Galore and the sky's sort of the limit with them and

what we want them to be able to do and we are I'm really excited about the advisory competition thing that they're going to do it's sort of like those Friday fun games that they want to do outside have a competition and be sort of like the Harry Potter houses and these type of competitions and and really work on that team building with those students so that they're doing a fantastic job already they've met like seven times I think because the way our elected work of three days of electives and then um one day win and one day of PE so great job guys thank you um all right so speaking of middle school and elective choices this is what we ended up determining so we do have a band class this year we have a

fantastic new music teacher that I've introduced you guys to before Rebecca town and then she's also doing chorus we have leadership and then we have a self-determined learning class this year because we were unable to do um find the right person to do foreign language but we do have an interview coming up so we're still keeping our fingers crossed so our students are doing a self-determined learning where they've got to go into the vtvlc catalog of online learning and they got to pick a class that they that interested them to be able to take like we have student surgery taking digital photography we have some students are taking some you know like ancient uh drawing class like their comic book class that they're doing all online so they're they determine what they want to do

and it's a self-paced class that they get to work on we also have a student newsletter that's going around that the kids are working on and then we have art of course and then we're going to have an advanced art class because we did get a new art feature as well and then we have recess assistance which I'll talk a little bit more about and then we have a theater class because we have quite the drama Productions that are put on here at Wethersfield and then um Mr Villa is doing a force and motion class so right now they are building catapults he gave them a pile of pipe and some other materials that they could use and so their goal is to be able to build a catapult and then we decided Mr reel

and I talked about it and for you to have a catapult you should probably have a Target so we came up with a really good Target this guy so they get to Target and try to launch water balloons at me into a big round Bullseye so that's motivated a few of the students they've been pretty excited about that um and then we do have a steam class um carrying on with our steam tradition so Ms Smith is doing that and then we have English language arts classes an additional sort of more of a they're doing some book studies and reading some books together and so that's flip-flopping back and forth we do have mixed advisory classes again this year so last year we had six seventh and eighth grade so the students get that opportunity

they have 25 minutes in the morning time where they come to check in they do we hear announcements they learn about leader and me they work on Common Sense Media for technology safety they get a check in on the week from the weekend of how their weekend what their plans are for the week and then they'll also be working on their personalized learning plans on Fridays and so those classes are six seventh and eighth grade if you had your advisory teacher unless they moved you had them in sixth grade or seventh grade you're going to have them all the way through Cape grade as well so you're really building that relationship with a staff member and this year we also did mixed PE classes as well we have our elective mix the PE is part

of that elective mix which is great because we have students that are different athletic abilities where they're a sixth grader and eighth grader but they're mixed in and Mrs Barry's doing a fantastic job with with working with those students throughout um the day so that's sort of our Middle School in a nutshell right there um here's our recess assistance so we have 13 kids that go out there and they work with our kindergarten through second graders at their recess time and so they meet them at the door when the kids are getting ready to transition out they help the teacher get all the kids out get them out to recess then they play activities they have designated areas that they're working with so we had kids last week that were playing kickball with the with

the students other kids that were working um on the play structure or the small play structure in the back of the school the red wall and they have set areas and it's just giving that our students that great opportunity our little ones as well as our big ones the opportunity to work together and be able to give back to our community so it's been a great fantastic help and then it'll be really nice coming back into the winter time too because when they help the kids get back out of all their snow gear and back and forth so it saves a lot on some of our staff and makes our big kids feel like they're really giving back because they are um Leader in Me are classes I've been developing the mission statements they've been

going over expectations and then the Leader in Me curriculum is done during the morning meeting or their advisory class and so our middle levels are doing them two days a week and then our elementary levels have a little bit more flexibility on how they do them and then there's a couple of our mission statements that I was able to snap some pictures of we got a first grade one there we got a second grade one there and I believe that's another first grade one there so those are all posted outside the doors so you can clearly see what their mission statement is for their classroom for this year and that's something that's going to be ongoing and changing as they evolve throughout the school year steam camp we talked about a little bit about this

last month but we got some great feedback from our parents um this is from her email she just wanted to let us know how grateful she was for our kids experience at steam Camp um this was their first year trying it and because of other conflicts that they had they were only able to attend last week but both her sons loved it and had a fantastic week and they were so excited for the carnival on Friday that they had trouble going to bed on Thursday evening always a great thing when kids have trouble going to bed thinking about positive things at school and it was a total joy to listen to their Adventures on the way home from camp and they've already asked if they can attend More Steam Camp next summer so I said

yes of course and then I've been working Leanna Robinson who's our new pause director her and I've been talking about it and how we can build that in in the morning to be able to have pause a little bit in the morning time and extend steam Camp because some of our kids do do Summer Academy and then come over here but it would open it up to more of a full day camp for kids and with the combination of pause plus our steam Camp I think we can we can work it out and it just gives kids more opportunities to learn and the fun environment at school so that's something we're working on um VT cap vcap results will come in hopefully next Monday so we'll start to look at them the state did release

them once and then took them back because it was an issue um so we were like and so we um we'll be able to get some more information on that as soon as they come out and then once we know that they're they're good to go then we will send the individual reports out to parents residency verification last year on our October board meeting we voted to require verification for all residents we sent the letter out verifications are due technically on this Friday the 15th as of early this morning we had 66 percent of our families that had a verified residency so those are coming in we have a few more today so that number's up a little bit but we'll continue to work on that to make sure that all of our residents all

of our students here have verification of The Residency so it's been pretty easy with parents just having to prove like they give us a bill and shows that they live here and we have not had any pushback from that at this point um safety drills so we did have our first drill we had a fire drill on August 31st it was great it was right during middle level recess time um we found out that our our Sirens aren't as loud as we thought they were outside but the middle school kids did do a great job they went right into where their next period class was and lined up and were able to go the rest of the class was able to school is ready to clear and um get it done pretty quickly we're also

working on the staff that's completing Alex training which is due by um the 30 yeah the 29th for the Friday so they're working on getting that done and we also have a staff review of safety protocols at our staff meeting tomorrow so we have a presentation to go over with the staff and to go over those and then they do have some activities they're age appropriate that they can do with their classrooms and then we will have a drill the week of the 25th through the 29th for our students and then those um there was a new there was a newsletter notification about this is what's going on for our safety protocols and then we will send out a notification to our family saying this is what we'll be doing sometime this week I don't

want to give the exact date um because we want to be able to have it still be somewhat of a surprise but for people to be able to be notified so you can talk to your students about it but especially our younger students will have that all in place prior to the meetings or to when they do it and then we created safety packs this year for all the classrooms so they have bandage some Student Activities in there some solar blankets in there some masks in there some basic things that the teachers and gloves so the teachers or the students take out with them whenever they go to a drill they just take this out to one of the things that we look for not only their their cards to show that all the suits

are there we also look for their bag to make sure that they have what they need and those are hung by the door in each classroom classroom um fence update so we had to modify the proposal plan for the fence I know we talked about how we wanted to act or I wanted to add a safety fence here along the parking lot side um then after looking at it further with our building supervisor Jim Taff he said where are you going to put the snow and I said good question I never thought of that I had my California mindset on thinking I want a fence because fences mean safety um but there's no place to put the snow then we would have to block out and it would be more of a catastrophe I think

is the word he used more of an exaggeration about where to put the stone I did not think of that so that's why I was glad that we asked somebody else so we have put that away and not um we are on the books of Springfield Vince not sure exactly when they said they will get out here when they can get out here but we do have another quote that's supposed to be coming in this week the gentleman was supposed to come out on Friday something changed his plan so I'm hoping either tomorrow or Thursday you can come out here to take a look at it that is the plan he said either Wednesday or Thursday so that we can see if if and when we can get the fence along the back area done

um enrollment so far for fy24 our total enrollment is 240. um kindergarten low at 19 that fourth grade or the fifth grade class is balancing out it was it was approaching 27 now we're down to 25. um things shifted around um and then our average daily is 96.89 for the first seven days of school looking at hiring update we're still looking looking for that foreign language position we do have an interview tomorrow for somebody so we'll let you know and give you an update on that building Community we're working on doing uh we're doing some pre-planning with a partnership with the Proctor library with doing a music program in the winter um the uh Stephanie volunteer fire department is using our building this Saturday for Mutual Aid training and then they're having their car show

here on the 30th of September okay in Events book fair starts next week runs right up through the Paw drop that's how that works out so we have lots of families here to be able to buy books and pause at the same time and they can even use their pods as a bookmark at the end um September 18th through the 29th we're having our our bike trailer obviously the Paw drop that we've talked about a couple times now is on the 22nd 27th is our eighth graders are going to Hobart which is exciting for them and then September 29th is our hats for cats that our leadership class is going to be putting on all right I'm going to turn it over to Christine born all right at first I just want to um say

I love coming to Wethersfield board meetings and hearing from Jamie and Carrie it really um you do an amazing job um and Finn that was awesome so well done and as you can see by Brian's report we've got a lot of really great stuff going on so um kudos to Brian and his team um my report is linked so this is from the other night some of you have heard bits of it um so some of the work that's coming that you're seeing the students um taking on really came out of our um work on our competencies and our strategic plan it is in embedded in our strategic plan is student agency voice and choice last year we worked with the consultant who helped us write the plan and do the competencies Mike Nicholson he

worked with a group of parents teachers administrators and the task was for him to work with that group to really flush out a clear and compelling vision statement from from this from the plan and the competencies so we have a draft it's gone out in my newsletter to families it's gone out to staff it'll go out to students um age-appropriate um as well and just for for comments and feedback so um I really love the second I mean I love all of it but where students want to learn staff want to work and families want to live really speaks um to what we want to do here so that'll go out I will send it tomorrow to board members and you know I'll send it out so that you can feedback as well oh you

have the Clippers Clippers and those are the mission statements that the group came up with as well you'll get them so you can read them um when they come to you uh just an update we did Implement um some real clear cell phone guidance I don't think Brian's having a hard time um here in Wethersfield with the cell phone maybe a few reminders but it's going well we talked today as a team we did have a question from a parent about what does that mean on field trips are students allowed to use their phones um on field trips where we landed was at school so not on the bus but we will allow kids to use their phones has cameras while they're on the trip um because that's what what kids use now and that's

at K8 and 912 there are different guidelines because they have they're older and they have different levels so so far so good and we'll update you if we run into any issues but staff have been wonderful and students and families have been super supportive so um and I wanted to just briefly share this last slide we are engaged with um the University of Washington Center for educational leadership we've partnered with them this year our administrative team so I'm going to read the goals because we've just started um so what we're going to develop through the work with the center for educational leadership are new ways to privilege student parent and Community Voices regarding the experiences they have and want to have in school draft visions of Equitable School experiences learning opportunities teaching practices and teacher

learning experiences that address the needs of all Learners and particularly those students furthest from Justice a shared understanding of why building teacher Collective efficacy can lead to more Equitable School practices and the and the last one is deeper reflective practice that emphasizes self-awareness and identification of biases privilege and power dynamics so we had one day of training um and at the end of the month our two trainers are coming here we'll be working as a full administrative team one day with them and then actually Weathersfield school is going to go first and Brian's going to help set up um groups of students that we're going to talk with about their experiences and so we're gonna um we'll be reporting back on what we learn across the year but we're really excited we feel like it's

the next step in moving our diversity equity and inclusion work forward so very excited about that um and I and that's the end of my presentation but Angie has um Angie lib do is here to update you on our hhb which is hazing harassment and bullying work hi everyone uh Christine could you click that hhb link or Brian I think to get the website I mean I don't know if I have it up here or not I can I can bring it up if you want me to bring it up I'll stop sharing you just sure sure um it works so you'll should share her screen so you have to yeah difficulties tonight is it working for you or no it's it's on the screen Edge can you see it yeah oh okay I just

shared okay yeah you're fine I was just sharing it sorry um let me um put it in preview mode that should okay so I'm here tonight to make the way to the page that will be put on our um on our website for each school and and in October regarding reporting hazing harassment and bullying and Title Nine sexual harassment as well as employee I can't remember what it's called employee harassment okay so um this is our effort to provide more access to our students our staff our families to report behaviors that may be found in violation to those policies our hazing harassment and bullying policy are Title IX sexual harassment policy or our employee harassment policy you can report it in uh in many ways not just on this site so as I scroll down

this site you can see that there is a reporting form here but it is always best as is stated here to report in person when possible we recognize that it this came about because we recognize that it's not always possible to report in person and sometimes you might not even know to whom to report so uh Below on this form we have provided the names of the people in the different schools that would be accessed to report this um and it also provides additional information links to our policies on the wsesu website um regarding these uh these things these behaviors so I just wonder if there's any questions that's what I wanted to share try to create a system a lot of work that was her that was her summer homework project wow all right

thank you very much if you have any questions please feel free to email me or ask Brian he can always get me a message too yep have a good evening YouTube thank you okay okay all right um up next we have items for discussion followed by motions if needed um the FCU nurse Health position idea so I can start if you want to start yeah sure um so this um came out of it started with a request from actually Discord Mark brought up um the struggle that we're having in hiring Health teachers not just in weatherscale but also in other schools in our SU and we thought maybe it would um be easier to hire if we collaborated and shared a resource and what came out of that discussion was um how it's done differently

in each of our schools so in some schools our PE teachers are also held certified and they can teach both PE and health but um definitely not enough time in their schedules to do an adequate job of you know they have to do PE twice a week but help they do it when they can so um and then there are just there's just a lack of teachers in other schools so we talked at length I think at the SC board meeting we kind of brainstormed and came up with not necessarily a position that's going to teach uh full all the time and somebody's really going to organize and make sure health is integrated in all subject areas where it can be and kind of oversee that um at the Mount of Scotty board meeting last

night it was brought up that maybe it's not necessarily A position that's needed for for many years if we have the system put in place but or or is there a consultant model that we could look at so people were very open to it um I will say at the other board board meetings they just want more information um so I've got a little homework to do and then out of that came um a related discussion about our nurses they are locally funded right now and one of our new nurses um came from a district it's a single District so it's set up a little bit differently but the model they have there um with their nurses is very collaborative there's a lead nurse and um they they work to make sure they're sending out

the same messages in regards to health and you know Health topics and issues there's support in uh so if you if there's any kind of emergency and you need more help professionals they're more easily accessible if they're Su employees um and then there's the the cost of sharing um when you're ordering supplies that's always saves a little bit of money so it's um you know it's an idea that's been presented I've asked the nurse that brought the idea to me to come to the SC board meeting um at the end of the month and really share with what they're thinking so that will happen September 28th I think it is sounds good so this is the local it's just a conversation with your own what about where you land on those issues yeah so um

is there something in particular that we need to do just other than just discuss it or do you want you don't want like an approval of any funds or anything like that at this point right I mean it'd be good to know what you're thinking but the Su board I think will weigh in right and vote on because if it becomes an Su because that'll be an Su expense not a little bit it would come out I mean it would it's just like we did for food service and transportation it'll come out of your local budget and be put into the master project I just think if we can integrate it into the curriculums you're probably going to have a lot better uh response from the students um and just make it okay well this

is lung function this is the biology you know you can work it in with a science class as opposed to okay it's this block this week this time we're doing this subject um I just think the kids are going to glom on to the tidbits of information and education better if it's just worked and and that's true with all things Mark or we can integrate the better the better is there like is there data whether this works or not I mean you talked to one school in one District but is there any anywhere else where we can get the data that this is working on on the nurse they're kind of too good to things related so the health integrators separate from the nurses or maybe it could be combined I don't know um not

as of yet so they're going to come and I don't I don't think we rush into anything I mean I think we take our time and we've really think and do some research and um before we make a decision so I don't know that it will happen I mean if people agree I don't know if a lot of this year maybe it takes time so yeah great point any other sounds okay I would just are you open to learning more about it I guess yeah yeah we're opening up what whatever you find out as far as um yeah excellent how it would work if it would be a shared position that then all right thank you okay um you already gave us the report on fencing it sounds like and we don't have anything to

vote on because we don't have any actual firm estimates yet or not anything for them now okay and who is the other I don't know the other company's name Jim Taff set that up oh sorry if you're local or yeah it's somebody local but I don't know when the guy shows up tomorrow or Thursday I'll find out and if you have anybody else that you know of what's because Springfield said it's it's originally when we were on the books they said a while and I said oh we're even backed up even more so it's going to be a while um so I don't know did they indicate they could that this is a project they can take on I mean that they're skilled enough Springfield or the other yeah Springfield yeah or any other yeah

the Franco said yes and I have not talked to the other guy Jim talked to him and said what he needed and the guy said yeah okay we're working on it um then we have the board code of ethics which um I guess was just something that we were all gonna sign correct um but I brought mine with me I have a copy um where'd that be Jacob EJ would you be willing to help us yes did everybody get enough time to look at it and yeah do you need a couple we need five all together so we all cannot sign it right and then we'll just give it to you oh you guys brought yours two of our numbers are good [Laughter] okay so we'll take care of that uh before we leave today

um minute take or pay which um is something that um there we go okay sorry um it's something that um Christine brought to us last week last meeting uh last month and um it turns out that we're we're sort of underpaying here in Wethersfield so we would like to um bump up Becky and or yeah whoever's our Note Taker salary to be um equal to the other note takers in the SU so it's um and what does that amount exactly um it's a hundred dollars a meeting so I think currently it's 70 or 75 here um and the other other districts are paying a hundred dollars so this was brought to me by our HR director and she wanted to make sure we were taking care of all her note takers in the same way

so um so do I have a motion to increase the note taker's pay to be commiserable with the rest of the Su at 100 per meeting yeah um all right Sarah I made it first so I guess we'll give her um and uh all in favor any further discussion thank you all in favor say aye aye all right that's unanimous you just got a raise thank you very much you do a great job Becky we appreciate all the hard work that you put into it thanks I think that's my second raise from all the years I've been doing this I think I started at 50 and then 70 for a while so also very much appreciated plus you guys do much shorter meetings I used to do some really Hefty long meetings at night oh

my goodness yeah um let's see um so the student School Board introduction which we already had let's go right in nice welcome thin um an anonymous grants so we've gotten free grants in the last um about a month of school so we got a twenty thousand dollar Anonymous Grant from for pause program we got a 35 000 one first self-determined learning and then we got a 17 [Music] 889.13 from Vermont after school great Grant so we just need the board to accept I'll take a motion to accept this question mark moves and all in favor that's passion honestly that's awesome yeah without those ones we applied for they just um we yes we wrote out some short applications and they were more than generous so yeah this is awesome okay um okay um all right

so we'll we'll do that but let's set the next agenda first which is um October 10th October 10th at 6 30 p.m is that oh you know what actually I will not be here that day okay I'll be traveling right then so if we could um either do it I could do it Wednesday or we could do it following week but yeah that the 9th and the 10th [Music] thank you okay yes Henry um I text Jim Pat and he says he thinks it's DMV Bad Company that might be the other one g m h yeah fence thanks um I can do whatever I mean it doesn't it's not dependent on me but the 11th is the Wednesday what did you say the 12th or the 11th yeah I can do either of those days

um is everybody else free for the 11th Wednesday on Wednesdays oh you're not yeah foreign are you able to I'm going to be driving right at that time so I won't be somewhere still um I mean you could do the meeting without me do you want to do that yeah I can do that if you want to listen in on your phone you could I can try but I'm going to be like on the Thruway so okay yeah I won't be I won't be one driving but um okay yeah I don't want to go and then we'll just catch you up okay all right so agenda okay and then um what do we want to put on that agenda we'll probably have more to talk about with the um the health position yeah the nursing

Health position we can summarize from the um meeting yeah yeah if there's anything yeah um there should be hopefully more info on the fencing maybe another hopefully Decap too okay so a report on on the fencing and also on the BT cap results um see we will have um oh the financials yeah right yeah you have somebody Staffing update and quarterly financials yeah I think that's probably good quarterly financials should take it um if he can send me that stuff I cannot get over and get any questions to Mark or somebody if I have any questions about it yeah if you can get that out like well you know Monday or something so that I have enough time to look at it um he said his plan is also um he'll I don't know when

I'll make sure you get him um he's gonna he's gonna put him in the board portal or the agenda is okay so you'll have them before the meeting so you can look out okay he's already written code somehow so we can extrapolate them from what do we use I don't even know ourselves so yeah Larry we'll have that done okay all right um so then um you gotta I didn't have a question on the grants I'm just I remember back um that there's a there was a grant for foreign language but I don't remember that that was accepted by the board and I don't know if that means it was changed into the initial money that we were supposed to get for that Grant changed into the sdl grant she gave us State the announcement

or gave us more money so there's still money for in that performing language that Grant could be self-determined learning or foreign language it's it's for something does that make sense so originally it was a certain amount that we had asked for for a grant for foreign language and then the person came back with an additional amount of money so it's self-determined learning or some type of language so we're looking at maybe even answers for a foundation one it's an anonymous donor but we went on record and saying that's what less funding the foreign language okay yeah okay so that's all one Grant correct but there won't be there'll be enough left after electives to still higher the foreign language there may be depending on the cost of the person so right because 35 000 would

not be enough to fund a teacher not a full-time teacher yeah I guess I'm confused and wasn't online learning an option online right now right now some of those kids choose foreign language and that's apparently doing that no because it's not cheaper than hiring a teacher um we'll talk about that oh sorry okay the whole session all right so so I had a question about the foreign language too so is that position the interview are they being interviewed for a full-time position or a part-time position they're being interviewed we're going to see what they can do because last year we did have a part-time position for it or we had it we had advertised it as a full-time the person could only do a part-time position so we built the program around that person and

that's how we funded it for this year then when we didn't get anybody we used those funds we cut the position and took it away towards doing the full-time part position that's what we decided as a as a group and then when we got this extra donation and then the money was more money than we talked about having trying to find somebody that was a foreign language teacher so are we able to Pivot say this person works out are we able to Pivot to them in person and do away with the online program we're committed to somewhat of the online program that we already have no matter what but then we still can use the rest of the funds towards a actual body teaching foreign language so and it's in your purview if you want

to if we want to increase if you want it to be full-time well that's fine yeah so we'll have to decide yeah yeah we'll decide that as a group once we get that because it's right now it's not in the books as a full it's not in the books it's a full-time position it's just a donation that we have right now a grant so um another question I have is about the Vermont after school and the pause um I know we've discussed building that program because we know there's such a need and I hear all the time so I mean that's a substantial amount of money are we looking to yeah we've increased the number of students in pause and opened it up by having more staff and we've also included it to our teaching

staff as well that they're able to do it after 315 contract time so we've increased we had 29 people on the books last year for students as of today we have 48 students that are participating in the pause program great that's awesome yeah yeah so with the kids are learning now online foreign language no they're not okay okay so they don't have an option right now okay hopefully it does yeah and I'm sorry again will the grant if this person decides they want to stay full-time they like the job it's great for our students will they will the grant Supply said that they would okay we can apply order Grant again you could just decide we're just you're just deciding we're trying to figure out what yeah trying to get the right program for the

kids there's no directive for this grant yeah like you okay all right or obviously obviously hired a full-time position or even a part-time one that works out and we would decide that we want to keep funding that each year yeah you could build it right into your budget it's not a nice party but is it K8 so is it eight Mills or foreign language or just Middle School it'll depend on what we can get if a full-time person then we could do a Ka program if it's just a smaller small amount of program we'll do it like we did before with the person that we hired last year and just wherever the need is Christine I think I just heard you say that you would have to build it into our budget next year so

if we do like the person and we want to keep them at whatever you know watch or reapply I would think for whatever Grant but if you don't get that then we'd have to build that position into our budget I just think we need to kind of residential teacher salary that is not there this year yeah we would have to have next year and and it was funded originally and um we couldn't find a teacher shifted those funds to make a full-time art position so those funds aren't there now um currently but I mean the board can I mean if it's up to you if we find a great person they're full-time you can approve us spending more money in the current year and just be over in that budget line right yeah so it's

up it's up to yeah do I want to see who that is yeah I just wanted to see if a good person a good fit for us and they're hard to come by yes sorry if you find somebody that that's great absolutely I have one last question which doesn't have to I understand will not likely be discussed I just don't know who or how to ask it um I feel like there were lesser positions for teachers that do they Inspire this year this year they do so those are are there two of those two so those are also additional teachers that we have to put into our local budget for possibly you can choose to possibly welcome to Syria in order to keep those two teachers that's also additional teachers salary that you have to

take on yeah yes we we increased um staff to keep our class size numbers down um right after the in the middle of the pandemic so all all of our districts are facing the same dilemma what do we do because we know it's good for kids but there's always that balance um so yeah we'll be having a lot of questions the coordinator of diversity Equity inclusion is funded this current year with Esther funds um you know we plan to keep that position so that will go into the Su budget um everything what goes as planned another and that's based on our strategy I mean these are things in our strategic plan that we're recommended to do um the other one was a Communications person which we haven't had yet we are this you're going to

use a little bit of Esser funds to pay for part-time just to try try out um having a Communications person so it's not hired yet but we've got to do that so I think those are the only SU funded positions and summer school yeah the money there's money for next summer right money goes through September 24th so we can fund um summer school one more year with those funds which is great news because it's a wonderful program any other comments the session um [Laughter] Donald I have to buy pause um all right so I'll take a motion to go into executive session so moved okay Mark moved all in favor yeah that's unanimous okay we're going to go into executive sessions thank you for coming
