001hello and welcome to the select board update for the meeting that happened on Wednesday October 4th I was not in attendance I was off on vacation but I was able to preview and watch the meeting after the fact it was great to see the start where the presentation of citizen of the year and Grand Marshall were done with Ashlin day being cancelled so congratulations to Bernie Temple for our citizen of the year and it was great to see all the Scouts in attendance for that and then also congrat ulations to area ashin residents for equity and action uh who were the Grand Marshal for Ashland day uh again uh let's go take a look and a listen to those presentations good for you uh but your dedication to this troop over the years and and
002I can attest since being uh on the board for a number of years having attended many Eagle Scouts not not just a single Scout but many and we found out how many over 52 Eagle Scouts over those years W quite the distinction my friend and that's the leadership of the troop and that comes from you and comes from everybody that's part of that troop leadership but more importantly enjoy Scouting For over the years that you continue doing it and it's it's this is it right here this is our this is our heritage this is the history of Ashland right here with Scouts like you Eagle Scouts that's what you that's what you strive for and Ashan has been very fortunate to have great leadership with the Boy Scouts to become Eagle Scouts so I can
003see a good portion of you working hard to become an eagle scout and it's because of the efforts of Bernie and all the other staff members of The Troop um now therefore we the select board do hereby Proclaim Saturday September 23rd 3rd 2023 as Bernie Temple day we urge all residents to make known their appreciation for his Devotion to scouting and to the town of ashin we wish him good health and good fortune signed Robert shair chair ashin select board congratulations Bernie that what do you sad I want to hear a all right September 23rd 2023 area ashon residence for equality and action we present this from the Ashen dat committee and we want to thank you for your efforts we as leaders of the community uh they they thought to establish this program and
004you folks taken it by the horns and you have taken it to levels that we never expected to happen but you folks with your commitment and dedication to this to this topic and this serious topic we greatly appreciate so we wanted to at least honor and recognize all your efforts Alan I know you're up there congratulations so where is Ashlin residence for equality and action area has been chosen as a field Grand Marshal for Ashland day 2023 um the Ashland Day committee selected area for a number of reasons including their dedication and Devotion to the well-being of the community um I won't go through every point in here so Joe talked a lot about it uh whereas area Works ensure that people of color have a voice and are represented on local boards and committees
005and area works with the school to ensure people of color are represented and have a voice and whereas area promotes people of color to run businesses in Metro West and highlights these businesses as economic development agencies and now therefore we the select board do hereby Proclaim Sunday September 24th 2023 as area day we urge all residents to make known their appreciation for the devotion uh to Residents businesses and employees of the town of Ashen we wish you all good health and good fortune sign Robert Sher chair Ashen like board congratulations to all of you very good here this and go ahead and there was other couple of highlights from the meeting that I think it's good to sort of bring forward here and that is the discussion about what was going to be potentially happening
006with Cadillac paint so that property has been uh worked on and the buildings have been taken down and there was a PR presentation about creating an Ashlin Arboretum go ahead and watch that there was also discussion about the potential warrant for town meeting and a few other items so go ahead and watch the full meeting and you can get caught up just as I did that's the update for today for the select board meeting from October [Music] 4th
