001SBSD Owl Camera: Are we all muted? SBSD Owl Camera: I don't see anyone unmuted here. SBSD Owl Camera: All right, I'm gonna call the specialist on June 16, th 2,025 at 6 PM. SBSD Owl Camera: Agenda. Item, 2. Announcements and amendments to the agenda. Are there any announcements or amendments to the agenda? SBSD Owl Camera: Well, I was just looking at item number 4, chairperson and clerk, and I was thinking about the possibility of Vice chairperson. That's not written down. Should we could say, Can you talk about the Vice chairperson as well. So you could add that on your discussion. SBSD Owl Camera: as far as I know, we can take action on that. But if the Board has discussion and decides to add one, and you can actually share SBSD Owl Camera: any announcements
002amendments. SBSD Owl Camera: Our superintendent is unable to be here this evening, due to scheduling conflict. So I'd like to ask the board to strike agenda. Item tenants report from the agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: Any other changes? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay? Seeing none. We're gonna move on to the agenda item, include comments from the public. SBSD Owl Camera: This is the community's opportunity to share feedback and concerns with the board. We ask that you keep your comments concise, 2 to 3 min, and that you're afraid of using any information that would identify a specific person. Please raise your hand in the room or use the zoom raised hand feature. We will only use the online chat to manage any tech issues. SBSD Owl Camera: We're not able to take action on any issues brought to us
003during public comment. However, any board member may suggest tonight that the issue or question be added to a future agenda for discussion. We may also delegate addressing issues to our superintendent. It is always helpful if you can email us a copy of your comments for follow up SBSD Owl Camera: any public comment in the room. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: Hi, I'm Noah Everett. I'm a Co. President Sbea. SBSD Owl Camera: We're here tonight, the last several meetings we brought our membership, but we're here tonight just to let you know that as this school year does become to an end, that that's not going to be the end of our advocacy. SBSD Owl Camera: We remain committed to having a positive change for the faculty, and students of South Burlington, and will
004remain engaged to do so. Summer can be a break, but we want to make sure that this board and Superintendent Nichols knows that we'll be ready to start up again on the 1st day of school if necessary. Thanks. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: The other public conference room SBSD Owl Camera: hang on 9 SBSD Owl Camera: to agenda. Item one. SBSD Owl Camera: which is our reorganization of this board. So at 1st we have the election of New chairperson. SBSD Owl Camera: Are there any nominations for Chair of Southland? SBSD Owl Camera: I would like to nominate Shane Sasha SBSD Owl Camera: shame! This actually has been nominated. This to her second SBSD Owl Camera: seconds. Emily seconds. Are there any other nominations for the chair? SBSD Owl Camera: All right. At
005this time I would look for a motion to see Shamus Thatcher, the new chair limited to the board. SBSD Owl Camera: Is there a second second? Do you have a second? Any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: All in favor signify by saying, Aye. SBSD Owl Camera: the motion passes Seamus, the new chair. I'm not really pleased with the right computer. SBSD Owl Camera: Did I sit next to you this week? SBSD Owl Camera: Those things? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay? SBSD Owl Camera: Alright, Hi, everybody. Thank you. Let's move forward together. SBSD Owl Camera: So the next item is election of the clerk. SBSD Owl Camera: Do we have any nominations? SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, well, we were not. We have to talk about vice chair. Okay, is this where we would talk about it, though? SBSD
006Owl Camera: Oh, okay, okay. Chelsea, sorry. Can you add that to the agenda? SBSD Owl Camera: Second, so just do we have any other nominations? SBSD Owl Camera: All right, do I have a motion to elect laura Williams as the clerk of the South Burlington school board. SBSD Owl Camera: give me another second. SBSD Owl Camera: They are any discussion, all right. All those in favor signify by saying, Aye, aye, thank you, beautiful. SBSD Owl Camera: I'll stay here, for it's like Sean. SBSD Owl Camera: So our next agenda item is 5. Focus on student learning. The student representative report. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. Shannon. 1st up, I am super excited to introduce our new junior representative moment is an incoming junior, and has been in the Sp school district since elementary school. He
007attended both Orchard, then the middle and the High school during the application process. Gracie, Jen, Emily, and I were most impressed with moment's clear commitment to make a difference within our community SBSD Owl Camera: moment is a team captain and player, ambassador on his club soccer team as well as a youth events coordinator for the Islamic Society of Vermont. In his interview Momen also brought up creative ideas for understanding diverse student opinions like sending out anonymous surveys to the student body. Mohman also plays an active role in the South Burlington High School Neuroscience Club and has won the Vermont brain key. SBSD Owl Camera: So adding on moment plays both soccer at the school and for a club team, and is a very enthusiastic about diving into the role I'm super excited to work with
008him this upcoming year. SBSD Owl Camera: And yeah, Jen and Emily, we really thank you for helping with the interview process. Would you like to add anything on about momentous interview at all? SBSD Owl Camera: I would just say, woman, we were very impressed. I mean, it was a fierce field, as you may or may not know, we had a lot of awesome candidates, and you were just really just incredible. You did a great job. Very well spoken, very articulate. And the passion that you brought forward, and the work that you want to do was really inspiring. Thank you, and congratulations, too, because I saw you in the paper just the other day. So glad to have you here. SBSD Owl Camera: I'm so excited as well. A moment played soccer with my son last
009year before I graduated, so I know him a little bit, and I'm really pleased to have him here, and I think he's going to be a wonderful addition. Thank you for choosing me. SBSD Owl Camera: And would you like to leave off your announcements? So on June second the High School held all sports award night for the senior class, which was an opportunity for seniors to be recognized for their athletic achievements. And then, on June 4, th the academic award night was also held the High School. Great job to all who received awards for your hard work this year and congratulations. SBSD Owl Camera: Burlington High School is currently hosting the Vermont student, Decathlon, Vermont is the only state to offer a high School Decathlon for both boys and girls, and we're excited to announce
010that 4 South Burlington athletes on the girls track team are participating and 3 athletes on the boys track team today and tomorrow. Currently, our boys team is ranked 1st and the girls team is ranked second. So stop by the Burlington track tomorrow to catch the final 5 events of the competition. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, in this past weekend, the high School and 8th grade graduations happen. Congratulations to all the 8th graders who graduated. We're super excited to have you at the high school next year, and good luck in the future to all the graduated seniors, including Gracie. We will miss you lots. SBSD Owl Camera: and on a final note I would like to say, Thank you to the Board and Superintendent Nichols for having me as a student representative. For the past 2 years
011this role has truly been a transformative experience, due to the culture that you all have created. I felt empowered to find my voice and create meaningful change. As a student in our district I'm immensely grateful for the work that you all put into making South Burlington schools the great places they are. While this is my last regular board meeting, I plan to stay involved with the Board's work and keep in touch. Thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: The parenthes. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright. So we'll move to the next agenda item action items. SBSD Owl Camera: The 1st item is for approval of resolution to enter into a tax exempt lease with Mst. Government leasing Llc for photocopy equipment. SBSD Owl Camera: That's okay. SBSD Owl Camera: So any discussion on the
012photocopier release. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, how I get this. SBSD Owl Camera: So I'm ready to hear motions to approve the photocopy release. SBSD Owl Camera: I need to reset the phone. SBSD Owl Camera: We've got. Thank you. We have a full text here that's gonna read out on this. SBSD Owl Camera: Can we hear, Dan? SBSD Owl Camera: Can you hear me? SBSD Owl Camera: So the laptop is for the room. You just have to push the button to see. SBSD Owl Camera: That's what we can. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay. Motion one. I hereby move that the Board approve the proposed tax exempt lease with Mst. Government leasing Llc. SBSD Owl Camera: For the purposes of refinancing, funding. SBSD Owl Camera: photography, equipment, business, including consultant fees. SBSD Owl Camera: and later cause of
013issuances of such leases in the amount not to exceed 248, SBSD Owl Camera: $248,850, and 70 cents, and an interest rate of 5.1 9% for a year through August 1st of 2030. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. Do I have a second? SBSD Owl Camera: Exactly. SBSD Owl Camera: Any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: Just one. Not sure if there should be an amendment, you read, and you actually use the word photographic instead of photocopy. So I just want to make sure that gets into the record correctly. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. Is that pretty expensive? These leases are, I guess. I remember anything. SBSD Owl Camera: I don't know if there's any like. So that's like the actual photocopy machines that are in. But that's the service and the service, and it's all the things. And
014for the next 5 years. SBSD Owl Camera: And how many is that. Do we know how many that is? SBSD Owl Camera: That information in here SBSD Owl Camera: think that's a question. But that's pretty technical us for it. But it's probably quite a few SBSD Owl Camera: just send me a message. SBSD Owl Camera: I think you had more questions. They would probably be for the superintendent. So if we want to, I guess we could present. And no, that's okay. I was just, I mean, I'm just just curious. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, I think we can trust it. Do you want a little background in this or sure. SBSD Owl Camera: So the Chair recognizes Toon Jarvis, the Director of Finance, Senior Director of Finance. SBSD Owl Camera: soon to be retired. It's a
015great photo. SBSD Owl Camera: You actually approve this in a consent. Agenda item on May 21.st SBSD Owl Camera: So this is the result of us doing a very thorough examination of all of the printers and copiers and across the entire district, and working with the people who represent a consortium of of schools across New England. And they get really good rates. So we're saving about $34,000 a year by moving in this direction and SBSD Owl Camera: about 170,000 over the electric release versus what we're paying today, right? SBSD Owl Camera: Any other questions, is it because we're going to a 5 year contract versus doing it like an annual renewal? We've been on a rolling 5 year contract. It's that it's the reason is because we're removing. SBSD Owl Camera: We're there's too many.
016We don't need as many machines as we've had historically. So SBSD Owl Camera: our it director worked with the principals in the schools and and did a site visit and went through like, do we need this? Do we need this, do we need this? And we don't. So SBSD Owl Camera: we're reducing the number of units infinite money. It's great. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. Thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: Any more discussion. SBSD Owl Camera: All those in favor. The motion passes. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, there's coming back. SBSD Owl Camera: I hereby move that the Board authorizes the superintendent to execute and deliver the tax exempt lease with Mst. Government leasing Llc. On such terms and conditions discussed and provided to the Board, and to execute and deliver any such documents required to execute
017the contract with specialized purchasing consultancy. SBSD Owl Camera: Go ahead a second. SBSD Owl Camera: See? SBSD Owl Camera: Seconds. Any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, all those in favor signify by saying, aye, the motion passes. SBSD Owl Camera: So the second action item is policy, d, 9, electronic communication between employees and students. 3, rd reading. SBSD Owl Camera: So this time we're not going to read it out loud. SBSD Owl Camera: Is there any discussion. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright? Well, then, we'll. SBSD Owl Camera: And that's the action item. So we'll actually take action. Okay, do I have a motion to approve policy? D, 9, electronic communications between employees and students. SBSD Owl Camera: Chelsea looks. Do I have a second second Jen. Seconds any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: No, all those in favor
018signify by saying, Aye, aye, great SBSD Owl Camera: alright. The 3rd action item is the determination of achievement of the superintendent's performance goals. SBSD Owl Camera: So these are confidential goals that were discussed in executive session. SBSD Owl Camera: Is there any discussion about the performance goals that you want to have in public? SBSD Owl Camera: I just. I wasn't aware they were confidential, but I just wanted to make sure that we were. I've had a few questions from constituents email to me asking about what the evaluation is based on. So I just wanted to see if you could explain a little bit more. Just SBSD Owl Camera: just the SBSD Owl Camera: from start to finish creating the goals in October, you know. See what the goals are but just, and how how that
019process works. So people understand what the bonus performance pay is based on. SBSD Owl Camera: So unfortunately, our lawyer is not here right now. SBSD Owl Camera: Joe is on as a participant. Oh, wonderful, Joe! Can you hear us. SBSD Owl Camera: Nick? Can you promote Joe to Dallas? SBSD Owl Camera: We could. Joseph McNeil: I can hear you. Mr. Chairman. SBSD Owl Camera: How about now? Oh, can you hear me now? Joseph McNeil: I can. Joseph McNeil: Can you hear me? SBSD Owl Camera: Did you hear the question, or shall I repeat it? Joseph McNeil: No, I hear the question, and the by contract the A board is to work with the superintendent. Joseph McNeil: and set goals by October of each particular year. Joseph McNeil: and then, once those goals are set. Joseph
020McNeil: the board is to monitor the accomplishment Joseph McNeil: of those goals across the year, and by May 15th is to determine Joseph McNeil: whether the goals were met were met in part or not met at all, and Joseph McNeil: based upon that outcome which was. Joseph McNeil: as I understand it. 1st communicated to the superintendent Joseph McNeil: an executive session as a result of the discussion that is permitted by contract. Joseph McNeil: The Board now needs to determine publicly that those Joseph McNeil: what the status of meeting those goals are. SBSD Owl Camera: And Joe, would you explain the differences between, you know, monitoring on policy, governance, and the content and meaning of these performance goals, and and the approval of them. Joseph McNeil: Yes, the the monitoring of of the various factors in
021in policy governance Joseph McNeil: is a bit different than the monitoring of the goals that are set annually in the superintendent's contract Joseph McNeil: as a part of that contract. They may be parallel at times. They may, somewhat differ at times, but the the goals that are set annually in October Joseph McNeil: are the goals that the board judges the performance, pay on the the goals, if you will, or the monitoring that takes place Joseph McNeil: under policy. Governance is ongoing and is Joseph McNeil: looking at a broader scope, I think it's fair to say, than simply the goals that are articulated between the board and the superintendent annually. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. Last question for me. Would it be correct to characterize the goals that are under discussion right now, as personal goals.
022Joseph McNeil: I think that would be fair, because that those are the goals that the Board and the superintendent agreed would be Joseph McNeil: per personal goals for the year. SBSD Owl Camera: Any other discussion. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright! Do I have a motion to approve the superintendent's performance goals. SBSD Owl Camera: and then to find that she was totally met. For instance, Joe, outlined, totally met, partially met or not met. And so just thank you. Yes, so do I have a motion to approve the performance. Goals as having been totally met. SBSD Owl Camera: Do I have a second? SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, second, okay. SBSD Owl Camera: Any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: Alright. All those in favor signify by saying, Aye, all right. SBSD Owl Camera: The motion passes. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright.
023We are now more than an hour ahead of schedule. SBSD Owl Camera: Wait! SBSD Owl Camera: So is there any interest in taking the placeholder for a brief recess? SBSD Owl Camera: No, thank you. SBSD Owl Camera: No. Okay, then we'll just keep moving on. The item, 8 discussion items. SBSD Owl Camera: The 1st discussion item is the consideration of public participation in meetings. This is what the committee of SBSD Owl Camera: Jen and Emily and I worked on last month. SBSD Owl Camera: It's a discussion of the discussion for the Board at this time SBSD Owl Camera: like Perita into the high thirties. SBSD Owl Camera: Think it might be helpful just to put it on the screen. Do you wanna say anything about that? SBSD Owl Camera: No, I do not. I mean,
024I I think that it's what we can. I'd like to share what we've done so that anyone that's, you know. And and how does that work with getting it out to the public? If the public has any comments specifically related to the development of this SBSD Owl Camera: improved policy, right? These are some of the things I've learned there is. SBSD Owl Camera: So this is the version of it where we have accepted the changes. SBSD Owl Camera: And then SBSD Owl Camera: this is the version of it where we're showing our changes. So I think, Tim, you had asked to see the version where we were tracking SBSD Owl Camera: changes. No, I'm comfortable with just the fun, whatever we need. Okay, sure, naturally see act. That's right here. SBSD Owl Camera: So perhaps
025a quick read would be appropriate. SBSD Owl Camera: Laura, have a copy of it. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, you know our contact system. SBSD Owl Camera: Do you want me to read it just then? I think that's a good idea. Okay, yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: we're about an hour ahead. So policy under Government 4.9 public participation at board meetings. SBSD Owl Camera: So policy it is the policy of the Board to encourage public participation at its meetings SBSD Owl Camera: background. The South Burlington School District Board of School Directors recognizes the importance of public input and fostering transparency, accountability and community engagement. This policy establishes guidelines for public comment during board meetings and ensuring that community members have a structured and respectful opportunity to express their views on matters concerning the district SBSD Owl Camera:
026implementation. SBSD Owl Camera: Reasonable rules of participation may be used to ensure that meetings are conducted in an orderly fashion, and that the business at hand is completed in a timely manner. SBSD Owl Camera: Such rules may take into consideration such things as length of each speaker's presentation, and the number of times each speaker may comment. SBSD Owl Camera: Persons who may address the board, one, any district resident, 2 school staff members, students, and parents, 3 individuals who have been requested by the superintendent or the board to present a given subject 4 persons who are directly affected by matters on the Board agenda, 5 owners of businesses in the district, 6 others at the discretion of the Board. SBSD Owl Camera: Public comment. One. There will be time set aside for public input. Every regular
027special or emergency meeting of the board. SBSD Owl Camera: 2. When the number of people wishing to speak is large. If the Board may authorize the chair to use the Speakers List members of the public will be given an opportunity to sign a speak speakers list indicating which agenda item will be addressed. SBSD Owl Camera: 3 individuals, wishing to speak, are encouraged to sign up prior to the meeting's commencement sign up sheets may be available meeting location, and when applicable through online platforms SBSD Owl Camera: for each speaker may be allotted up to 3 min to address the board board chair may adjust time limits to accommodate the number of speakers and ensure the meeting's timely progression. SBSD Owl Camera: 5 speakers are expected to maintain stability and respect SBSD Owl Camera: alternative submission methods, one
028individuals unable to attend meetings, may submit written comments to the board by email or postal mail. SBSD Owl Camera: and 2 written comments received may be acknowledged, and when appropriate, included in the public record SBSD Owl Camera: appropriate topics. One. The chair may warn or rule out of order any presentation to the Board which breaches the privacy of other rights of students, parents, or other or school employees violates the grievance procedure of a contract of the district or uses profanity. SBSD Owl Camera: 2 comments involving specific personnel or students should be directed through appropriate channels to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy laws. SBSD Owl Camera: 3. The Board may publish and maintain a list of topics, and the corresponding authorities, so that the public is informed about the most efficient way to provide the
029product. SBSD Owl Camera: and for the public may comment on a topic, even if the Board isn't not the corresponding authority, but the Board may refer the Speaker to the Corresponding Authority SBSD Owl Camera: Board interaction with the public. One board meetings or public meetings, but not necessarily meetings with the public SBSD Owl Camera: to for the purposes of public participation. The Board may designate meetings as public forums. SBSD Owl Camera: 3. During public forums. The board may interact with public on agenda items. SBSD Owl Camera: or during all other meetings. The board generally will not interact with the public. 5. The board shall not discuss or interact with the public on items that are not on the agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: 6. If a response is requested, the Board will provide a written written
030reply within a reasonable timeframe. SBSD Owl Camera: and then accessibility and accommodations. One. The district is committed to ensuring accessibility for all individuals to request for accommodations, including translation, services, or assistance individuals with disabilities should be directed to the superintendent's office at least 48 h prior to the meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: That's 3, thank you, Laura. SBSD Owl Camera: and as it as it shows below here. This was adopted from Vsba model policy a 21, and the full changes are visible in a. In another document. Is there any discussion SBSD Owl Camera: on this further. SBSD Owl Camera: Just a a couple of questions. SBSD Owl Camera: so the persons who may address we have it restricted to SBSD Owl Camera: any district resident is that the Bsba policy. SBSD Owl Camera: I guess how we
031restrict it to just residents. SBSD Owl Camera: because I would assume anybody could speak in front of the board, even if they're not a district President. SBSD Owl Camera: per, that is straight from the model policy. It is okay. SBSD Owl Camera: So this is the model policy on screen right now, problem SBSD Owl Camera: and the additions that we did to them. To that was only adding owners of businesses in the district. SBSD Owl Camera: so is the Board prepared to enforce SBSD Owl Camera: somebody who's not a district resident from speaking to the board. SBSD Owl Camera: I think that we might rule them out. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, but I don't think we would stop them from speaking. Go back up to the top. If the team look at that, what are
032the other? SBSD Owl Camera: you could have people who may not be a district resident, but they could be, say, a school staff member. SBSD Owl Camera: So it's not. You have to be all of these things. It's it's you need to be one of those things. So if you had someone who is a school or staff member, or a student or a parent, and they don't necessarily live in this district. But maybe they work in this district, then I would still, or if they're affected by matters on the board agenda again, if they may not be necessarily resident, so we try to make sure that that SBSD Owl Camera: wet net was cast wide enough. Right? SBSD Owl Camera: So I believe we have in the past have people have had people speak to
033the Board park residents SBSD Owl Camera: speaking to us on matters on the agenda. So I just, I just wanna make sure we're not trying. We're not SBSD Owl Camera: being too restrictive here. So I guess a good follow up question is, who's precluding from addressing the board by this list? SBSD Owl Camera: So somebody who is not a district resident nor works at the school, nor has been asked to present. SBSD Owl Camera: nor directly affected, not an owner of the business of a business, and not at our discretion. So it would have to. If you want to be to exclude somebody, you have to be none of these things. SBSD Owl Camera: and then, even if they were excluded, at least the policy of this chair would be to allow them to speak,
034but perhaps to rule them out of order. SBSD Owl Camera: Another question. First, st I was just gonna ask if Joe had reviewed this so. Joseph McNeil: I had not seen that, unfortunately, until this evening. Joseph McNeil: and I would recommend to the Joseph McNeil: Board that you add an additional category after between 5 and 6, Joseph McNeil: and that is non non residents. Joseph McNeil: Wishing to speak, I'll make reference to the city of Burlington. Joseph McNeil: which goes in the order of of Burlington residents. Joseph McNeil: Burlington business owners who may not be residents. Joseph McNeil: and then staff members, etc, and then non residents Joseph McNeil: before before others at the discretion of the board. I think that way. You are fully complying with the statute that says that the the public
035Joseph McNeil: has the right to speak on agenda items, and the statute does not say simply, residence. So I would not. I would not limit. Joseph McNeil: I would add, what you just did. SBSD Owl Camera: Perhaps we should delete the whole section and let the know that their model policy is a bit dated. Then. Joseph McNeil: I think if you add that descending order, you've got everyone. Mr. Chairman. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, so could. Joseph McNeil: Could I use this because you're talking about public communication just to make a Joseph McNeil: an irreverent comment about myself and Joseph McNeil: public meetings and public comment. And I want to say about Gracie Morris that Joseph McNeil: I have been watching her as a track competitor and as a very, very good athlete Joseph McNeil: all
036spring without recognizing the connection, that this is the person I see at the School Board meeting. Joseph McNeil: So, if I may be irreverent and add to the accolades for Gracie at her last attending School Board meeting. I sure would like to do so. SBSD Owl Camera: I am gonna have to rule you out of order, though. Joseph McNeil: Totally understood. Mr. Chairman. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay. SBSD Owl Camera: Further thoughts. There's there's a lot in here. I think one of the main changes. An idea brought to us by Laura is the creation of a designation of board meetings called public forums, and I think the most important SBSD Owl Camera: idea is that during public forums the Board may interact with the public on agenda items, and I feel like that is something that
037should not go unnoticed by people who vote for this SBSD Owl Camera: awesome which we're not voting on it today, but it should be considered. SBSD Owl Camera: I have one more comment. If somebody else does any board interaction with the public number 6, if a response is requested. I don't know if you want to put in there the Board, or definitely will provide a statement, because I don't know if it would be the board that necessarily respond every time. SBSD Owl Camera: What's it? SBSD Owl Camera: Come on? SBSD Owl Camera: No, I think that's in our current state, something to that effect. So, okay. SBSD Owl Camera: can we tape. Can we currently tape SBSD Owl Camera: comments from the public on things that are not one for action? Hopefully, we can discussion
038items. SBSD Owl Camera: Perfect. But that's a perfect example. SBSD Owl Camera: we are, according to our public call, public participation policy. We would only take comments on matters. SBSD Owl Camera: Let's see our action items SBSD Owl Camera: where that SBSD Owl Camera: right? Of course. Yeah, yeah, I think it's our current policy to only take it off action plans. But I SBSD Owl Camera: so is that called out, here. SBSD Owl Camera: that's a good thing. What do we want? Do we want discussion items and action items? Do we want only action items? SBSD Owl Camera: Well, I mean, I thought, part of, I remember when we were writing this that we had discussed SBSD Owl Camera: different times when people speak, and there was the thought that it's a little bit confusing
039for that very reason. So maybe you just have that time at the beginning of the agenda. I believe that's how Burlington does. It is that they only have public comment, and it's at the beginning, and then you just are able to go through your meeting. Yeah, that's how Mmu does it also. But but I could see, I think, Dan? Or maybe it was Tim that brought up at 1 point. SBSD Owl Camera: If you're speaking about someone or about something, and it triggers. SBSD Owl Camera: you know, thought in the audience that somebody may then want to comment on it on on this. Right? Well, and but that's what our training with Michael Healy said. SBSD Owl Camera: You get comments in the beginning, because you have a business meeting. Yeah, business, a public meeting
040that's not with the public. SBSD Owl Camera: And so that's why I'm suggesting strongly the the forums. So people can can come to speak because SBSD Owl Camera: we are not really participating in policy governance. If we are constantly interacting with the right. And I'm not saying we should be interacting. SBSD Owl Camera: So the point is like you. Even the way we are physically set up right, I think, is confusing for me. SBSD Owl Camera: Well, and so could we. Just the so the the model policy says, public comment on agenda items. SBSD Owl Camera: the chair will ask for comments on agenda items before action is taken so that would preclude discussion items, and then items not on the agenda. That would be the time set aside in the middle. And so what
041this committee did was SBSD Owl Camera: converge those 2 and said, if you want to comment on an action item, you are to do it during the time set aside at the beginning of the meeting. So that's the current what the current draft says, and I think Joe has a comment. SBSD Owl Camera: Go ahead, Joe. SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, Joe, can't. You can't hear you're muted. Joseph McNeil: Thank you. I'm sorry I was having trouble getting it off mute. I just wanted to Joseph McNeil: call to the Board's attention that the statute, the open meeting statute Joseph McNeil: requires that the public be given a reasonable opportunity to express its opinion on matters considered by the public body during the meeting. Joseph McNeil: So that is the that is the minimum requirement. Joseph McNeil:
042There is nothing to preclude the body, if it should wish Joseph McNeil: to expand that public opportunity into items that are not necessarily on the agenda, as many public bodies do Joseph McNeil: but the minimum legally required is opportunity to express opinion. Joseph McNeil: As to agenda items. SBSD Owl Camera: Is it? And in the statute, Joe? Is it as to agenda items, or is it as to what is discussed during the meeting. Joseph McNeil: The precise expression is to express its opinion on matters considered by the public body during the meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay. So it matched down and indicates that there should be a public comment period at the end. SBSD Owl Camera: If they're supposed to be allowed to comment on things considered during the meeting. Then SBSD Owl Camera: it
043seems to me that there should either be, during or at the end to cover that. SBSD Owl Camera: During action items. Joseph McNeil: Typically the way boards handle, that is, that if there are to be amendments to the agenda Joseph McNeil: they would. They would be offered at the beginning of the meeting, and then, Joseph McNeil: you know, theoretically, under Robert's rules, you're only dealing with your agenda items. Joseph McNeil: There could be later on a motion to add an item to the agenda. Joseph McNeil: It would require two-thirds vote Joseph McNeil: and then there there should be opportunity for the public to talk about that item. Joseph McNeil: But legally it's only those items that are coming before the board. SBSD Owl Camera: I. So when it says, considered, it just means the things
044that are on the agenda. And so that's why it's okay to only have it at the beginning of the meeting. Joseph McNeil: Yeah, that typically that's correct. SBSD Owl Camera: While we're discussing this, it's not our current policy and our current publicized SBSD Owl Camera: our current public guidelines. As listed on our published agenda. The second one says, comments should not be related to agenda items that can be made during the discussion of an agenda item. SBSD Owl Camera: and historically, as chair. I have SBSD Owl Camera: following guidance from the Board, not taking public comment during discussion items with the idea that we're not taking action on it. So a member of the public can send an email or comment on it during an action item. But we have also taken public comment during
045discussion items. Sometimes that's where that like invariable application has come from. SBSD Owl Camera: And, as it's stated right now, I do think this is where the confusion comes from, because it says can be made during the discussion of an agenda item. It doesn't say during the discussion of an action agenda item. SBSD Owl Camera: And if that really should be changed, I think that's my my opinion. I think people should be able to to talk about whatever they want to talk about. SBSD Owl Camera: like during the public comment during public comment at the beginning, about anything. Yeah, because I just think this makes for such. I think of these. I know people have shown up in a bank well, and especially with something like this, where you have to read it a couple
046of times, and then you also have the opportunity for people to send an email. So there could be, comments can be received. Yeah, before you're even taking potential action on something. SBSD Owl Camera: So yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: so my interpretation of this policy as written is that we would have a comment period at the beginning, as we always have, and then we would disallow any comment after that period. If if so, that is my understanding of the way this is written, and if people think that that is wrong SBSD Owl Camera: please, now is the time to, or you know we're not acting on it. But we'd like to hear that on the committee say that it's that you provide your comment at the beginning. Yes, and and on any item. SBSD Owl Camera:
047and not on any item totally agree, because I think it goes back to the comment that we had received that time where somebody waited all. And then they weren't allowed to speak because it was a discussion item. It wasn't an action item. SBSD Owl Camera: Well, yeah, whatever it was, it was very confusing. SBSD Owl Camera: It's frustrating? Do we want to put in something like the public may comment on any topic, yeah, SBSD Owl Camera: maybe not quantify how about just public comment there's 10 min, and then just that's it. SBSD Owl Camera: Let it let it go. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay. SBSD Owl Camera: And in this case this is an example. Someone's wanting to speak. But it's not time to speak. So would we need to say something about if something occurs during
048the meeting that you'd like to comment on, please, email us or email, I mean, might be nice for someone to understand, like how they're supposed to get the information to us. SBSD Owl Camera: Individuals unable to attend meetings or make SBSD Owl Camera: their comment or provide their input, 3 SBSD Owl Camera: or otherwise, I am up individuals unable to provide their input SBSD Owl Camera: during a meeting, I would say, during during the meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: Stephanie, either they work here or doing travel time. SBSD Owl Camera: Anybody have any other thoughts about this? Another thing. I'll call out where the phrasing is perhaps a little strange, but SBSD Owl Camera: exits appropriate topics. So SBSD Owl Camera: the intention with number 3 is that we have something on our website like a
049table that says, if you want to talk about curriculum. You have to talk to the building principles. If you want to talk about staffing that has to go to the superintendent if you want to. And so the reason for that is that the committee felt SBSD Owl Camera: there had been a sense of frustration around who the right person to bring up a problem was and so that is the purpose of number 3 is to provide a published list of topics, and and who to go to about them. SBSD Owl Camera: All right, of course, any other discussion on public participation SBSD Owl Camera: hearing that move on to the School board, vacancy, timeline and process for billing. SBSD Owl Camera: so Chelsea will share information about that. SBSD Owl Camera: So I believe that
050from the time when I see the Board has to make a and you know you can quote probably the statute, but a good faith effort to fill the seat within 30 days, which means that you have to have a meeting where you can presumably appoint someone to my seat within 30 days of you vacating the seat. If no one is interested, or if someone's interested, we would interview them and decide not to appoint them. That is all taking action SBSD Owl Camera: to fill the seat. So we've had instances where we hold applications, and no one applies, and 30 days elapses, but we've tried and no one applied. We've got other instances where only one person applies, and SBSD Owl Camera: so SBSD Owl Camera: I believe I stated my last day would be June
05130.th At the time I thought I wouldn't live in South Burlington any longer. I will be here in the month of July, but I think it would be really good for the work to fill my seat during July. So you have a chance to gel with a new board member. SBSD Owl Camera: But I'm happy to stay on longer if you need any help. But the board should post an ad, and you should agree on SBSD Owl Camera: an application with the questions. I'm happy to provide the draft reviews, and when asked. SBSD Owl Camera: and you should also establish a scoring regret for those interviews. SBSD Owl Camera: and we'll need to put it on the board agenda to find someone to fill my seat, and they'll be filling the seat until the next
052town meeting day, at which time they could run to finish my full term. But the voters will have a choice. But SBSD Owl Camera: any questions. SBSD Owl Camera: any further discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, I was just wanting to understand, Chelsea. How much longer do you have on your SBSD Owl Camera: your term right now. SBSD Owl Camera: I think, until 2027. But the person who we would appoint might wouldn't have to do that full time. They have to run again. Right? Okay? And someone else could run for your seat. SBSD Owl Camera: Thank you. But they would have it until 2027. No, no! Until next March. Oh! Until next March, or someone else, they would be on the ballot to fill the remainder of the term SBSD Owl Camera: right? So then, at
053that point inwards. SBSD Owl Camera: So in your ad, you could say to people, Do you want to try out really committed to March, which at this point is 9 months. SBSD Owl Camera: Great. Okay, thank you, Chelsea. Any other discussion on that? SBSD Owl Camera: Forward the board, the previous application and scoring rubrics that we've used, and that way you can decide if you'd like to adjust it before SBSD Owl Camera: great. SBSD Owl Camera: So the next discussion item is policy. G, 8. Selection of library materials. And this is the second reading SBSD Owl Camera: has already been added to the record. One Demo. SBSD Owl Camera: We're having scheduled time. But SBSD Owl Camera: would any board member like me to read it into the record again. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright! Any
054discussion of selection of library materials? SBSD Owl Camera: Alright, then we'll move on to reports by the School Board. SBSD Owl Camera: Are there any reports from School Board members. SBSD Owl Camera: Great. SBSD Owl Camera: I don't think so. The only thing I would like to add, and I don't know if this is the right time to do it. Maybe it's for set the agenda for the July 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: But things like the revisions to the agenda SBSD Owl Camera: status on Scorecard building, scorecard. So forth. SBSD Owl Camera: We talked about the superintendent SBSD Owl Camera: circling back on our gantt chart, etc. So those things are racy. But that could probably be part of the agenda for the night. Yeah, let's put it on the agenda so that we do
055something about it. Okay. SBSD Owl Camera: any other reports. SBSD Owl Camera: Then we'll we're skipping agenda. Item, 10 superintendent's report, because the superintendent is not here. SBSD Owl Camera: and so we'll move on to Number 11 agenda planning. SBSD Owl Camera: And so the 1st item is to set the agenda for the July 9th meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: and let me just read out what the current agenda is. SBSD Owl Camera: So at. So this is a Wednesday, July 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: There's an executive session at 3 Pm. SBSD Owl Camera: Then there are comments from the public. We go into public meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: and then there's consent, agenda. So it's very short. It's from 3 to 4, 15, and there's no discussion or action items. SBSD Owl Camera: So, and
056we can obviously also talk right now about the June 18th agenda, which is in 2 days. SBSD Owl Camera: and the only things on June 18th are 4 o'clock. SBSD Owl Camera: Comments from the public, and then one action item, which is monitoring. Report 2.2 treatment of staff and then adjournment at 5 15, and then we go to the steering committee meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: So SBSD Owl Camera: I wanted to capture Emily. You had said something at the beginning of the meeting that we needed to add, oh, yes. Discussion about the possibility of appointing a vice chair to the board. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, do you know about the SBSD Owl Camera: legal structure of officers? At 1 point I was really interested in the culture model, but it's actually not legal with my
057law. So that leads me to believe it's more complicated SBSD Owl Camera: topic. Then sure, I can do that. SBSD Owl Camera: School board vacancy. Do we want to talk about that on July 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: So that would be our next meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: Never advertised for that before. SBSD Owl Camera: And who puts the advertisement over? Is that something we give SBSD Owl Camera: so usually the Board has an ad, and we ask the Communications Coordinator to put our website. Historically, the superintendent has put it in her newsletter. The board chair usually posts until 4 tomorrow. I recall us getting a lot of really good recommendations SBSD Owl Camera: this past winter. I go back. There were just several ideas that were not standard practice, that I thought would be really
058perhaps SBSD Owl Camera: right. SBSD Owl Camera: I think on July 9th I would propose doing the the public participation. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah, so that'd be fine. SBSD Owl Camera: At what point can we move that into action items? So as it is right now, you're discussing the policy. And I think. Once the Board reaches the point where they like. The policy, then need to put it on discussion twice to a 1st reading, the second reading. SBSD Owl Camera: and a 3rd reading. And your 3rd reading can also be like, take action. SBSD Owl Camera: I think that's right. So do we want to move it to a 1st reading? SBSD Owl Camera: What was that tonight? The 1st reading? No, it was just discussion. The next reading will also be discussion. But there'll
059be parentheses 1st reading after everyone. SBSD Owl Camera: So does anybody have objections to the way it's written, or want to discuss it further. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, so we'll warn that on July 9, th for a second, or for I'm sorry for our 1st reading. SBSD Owl Camera: It's also, I think, right now, it's consideration of public participation in meetings which is really broad by adding policy to the agenda topic. It will keep the agenda that you're adding policy. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: And Jen, I think what you just brought up was changing the agenda template. SBSD Owl Camera: I think SBSD Owl Camera: so, do we? Wanna? I don't think we would need to take any act formal action on that. But we should discuss it. So SBSD Owl Camera:
060is it. Okay? July 9.th Talk about agenda templates and have that now, hopefully, it'd be fast SBSD Owl Camera: and then what about monitoring equity? SBSD Owl Camera: I was gonna ask. I was curious about that. SBSD Owl Camera: because, as of right now, it's pushed back until August 13.th SBSD Owl Camera: Think you probably want to discuss that with Superintendent to make sure we have available for before we put that on. SBSD Owl Camera: This is, I think, typically July tends to be pretty late. SBSD Owl Camera: From what we're gonna tackle with the board just saying sort of our our little bit of downtime we get. So I'd be cautious about adding a whole lot to SBSD Owl Camera: agendas of July. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, so to to recap SBSD Owl Camera:
061on Wednesday in 2 days, on June 18.th The only thing on the agenda is comments from the public and then action. Item Monitor report 2.2 treatment of staff. That's June 18.th Any additions to June 18, th SBSD Owl Camera: and that begins at 4 pm. And that begins at 4 pm. Here. SBSD Owl Camera: Presidency. SBSD Owl Camera: Right? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay? SBSD Owl Camera: And then for July 9, th we we start at 3 pm. SBSD Owl Camera: And at least if we start with the executive session that would mean moving the SBSD Owl Camera: discussion of participation in the agenda template after executive session, which is when we've opened it up for up as a public meeting. So it would be 3 o'clock. Executive session, 4 o'clock regular meeting, where we would
062discuss SBSD Owl Camera: public participation, agenda template and then pending what Joe says the vice chair. SBSD Owl Camera: Do we need to add a discussion item on school board vacancy? Or do we want to just handle that offline? SBSD Owl Camera: There's some, you know, just with me are those usually discussed in a public meeting? SBSD Owl Camera: So should we do we need a discussion. Another discussion item for school board vacancy and talk about how we want to bill it. Make sure we at least update the public on where you are in the process. So SBSD Owl Camera: certainly you wouldn't talk about candidates in an open session. But, you also will hold candidate interviews in public, and then executive session to like, discuss your sports and census, to say we would, or
063we would. The interviews are public, but not the definition of candidates, so like you wouldn't have. You wouldn't say I like candidate A more than B. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright. So it looks like we're adding 4 3 things potentially. For to July 9, th SBSD Owl Camera: the 3 things we're definitely adding are school board, vacancy, participation, first, st reading and agenda template. And the 4th potential question is vice chair ending what Joe says? Is there any other oops SBSD Owl Camera: discussion about placing all contracts on the website. SBSD Owl Camera: and then we can literally just request that of staff. SBSD Owl Camera: Good welcome. SBSD Owl Camera: I acknowledge what you said, Tim, and I remember hearing that that the 9 and I think these items don't seem like they're going to
064be that summertime business public SBSD Owl Camera: pretty comfortable that it's it's easy step to tackle, but I guess possible participants won't be able to make it, but might be on vacation. So if there's anything that would be better SBSD Owl Camera: dates for another meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: yeah. And something that Dan just said is, he's very interested in putting all of the contracts. That are public information onto the website, and it easy to find SBSD Owl Camera: place. And he proposed adding that to the agenda, and I would say that I can also try to ask for that to be put on the website, and then we don't need to discuss it. But if we do, that will discuss. Does that make sense? SBSD Owl Camera: The teachers and support staff contracts that
065are already listed on the website SBSD Owl Camera: in the spirit of full transparency. Yes, did you? I don't know if you added the topic of a scorecard. SBSD Owl Camera: We'd like to talk about Scorecard, at least bring it up the scorecard SBSD Owl Camera: and one for the board, and one for SBSD Owl Camera: our monitoring of the superintendent, I think is critical. SBSD Owl Camera: And then I would also add, SBSD Owl Camera: I'd also like to discuss a strategic recruitment requirement. SBSD Owl Camera: So on the scorecard SBSD Owl Camera: that would be compliant with policy governance, and would be in the context of the monitoring reports, maybe a summarization of the results of the monitoring reports SBSD Owl Camera: and linking back to so the way I would see it,
066I mean, and hold on just I guess maybe I should roll myself over. That's actually SBSD Owl Camera: the wrong question. So we'll discussing the concept of a scorecard. Okay. And then separately, the SBSD Owl Camera: scorecard for the super and the board. SBSD Owl Camera: And what was the other one? SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, wow! SBSD Owl Camera: Strategic strategic plan. Strategic plan. Okay, so given what Tim just said. SBSD Owl Camera: do we want to try to add those to the next meeting. SBSD Owl Camera: to the 9, th to the 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: That would mean that we would have SBSD Owl Camera: 3, 5 between 5 to 7 discussion items. SBSD Owl Camera: I mean, I would. I feel motivated to do that, and I could do a lot of
067legwork even before. So we have something to share. Because I just feel like I really want to hit the burn of roaming with some things like, I feel like we need to close the gap on a few items, and one of them is how we're doing with our monitoring reports. And SBSD Owl Camera: you know what those results are and how you can map that back. And you know, looking just even at the transparency on the website to be able to find like, where are the monitors? So you're advocating for yeah, I mean, I would support that. I would feel confident that we can work through those quickly enough. Does anybody object to putting scorecard and strategic plan on the July 9th meeting? SBSD Owl Camera: Vertical? This is a sufficient number of people. SBSD
068Owl Camera: Well, I think if you're gonna talk SBSD Owl Camera: strategic planning when you talk to stewardship SBSD Owl Camera: or well, strategic plan is one thing, but then the stewardship would be through the scorecard. So they're 2 kind of separate animals. SBSD Owl Camera: but at least to broach it. To start approaching that conversation. Right? We have stewardship SBSD Owl Camera: that's maintained by the business is that the continuous improvement plan? No, no. When you are you talking facilities? No. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay. So the strategic plan I've seen reference to it in a couple of things that I've looked at. SBSD Owl Camera: And when we actually found it, it turns out it was dated like 2,007. So yeah, so this one is this one is different. This
069is. And and I looked at examples from like Burlington school district, has, like a very clear strategic plan, like for 2023 to 2020. And I feel like that would be something like, what is the yeah. I feel like, we agree. I think we all are in agreement that it would be good to talk about that. The only question, I think, is whether it goes on July 9.th I think we could SBSD Owl Camera: as long as we kept it short, and we broached the subject. I don't have a problem with that. SBSD Owl Camera: and I'm fine. With that, I think just as long as a few short, just to understand. We all understand what it is we're going to be working on. But I think talking about a strategic plan. July 9th would be
070challenging because nobody's around. Probably people are going to miss the discussion. So I think it's probably better just to clarify what we want to talk about, but that have that full discussion later on. SBSD Owl Camera: All be that it is is like, Hey, when we're talking about strategic plan. This is what we need. This is what we're talking about, and not that we're going to start developing. Yes, that's what I yeah. I don't want to make sure we're not doing that. So I will put on discussing the kind of the concept of the strategic plan, not the strategic, not any strategic plan itself. Same with the scorecard for both the Board and SBSD Owl Camera: the superintendent, which then traces back to monitoring reports. And that's more stewardship, I would say SBSD Owl Camera:
071right. So do people have any other interests. They wanna SBSD Owl Camera: add to this next agenda, or just remind us about any future agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: The only one that I would bring up personally is that at some point this summer I would be interested in starting the process of adding trades to the ends policy. SBSD Owl Camera: But I don't think that goes for that. SBSD Owl Camera: Consider another virtual. SBSD Owl Camera: We don't go out. SBSD Owl Camera: And you know, and one other thing, too. When we did the public comment, it started out as kind of a 2 fond approach. It was going to be public comment and community engagement, and they were 2 separate kind of things, and I would like to resurrect that also. Like, what do
072we engagement for community engagement? That's where, like the the forums came out of that. And then, yeah, I've got lots of ideas on that. I think we should bring that up like again. And it may just be a work plan that we're creating like. SBSD Owl Camera: So on July 9, th do we want to again discuss the concept of a community engagement committee? Yeah, yeah. And we can form the committee. Then SBSD Owl Camera: I mean, I love it. I'm into it. Gotta be done eventually. So SBSD Owl Camera: we probably should have pulled there, though. Yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: Chelsea's like, did I say it on the same stage of July. SBSD Owl Camera: Are you? Are there any other items that? SBSD Owl Camera: And you don't have to go on July
0739, th but to have a list, for SBSD Owl Camera: I am planning to be done on June 30, th unless I need additional help just to be clear about that. SBSD Owl Camera: Anybody else want to bring up any anything for this next agenda or any future agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: Can we just get a status update on the event on the racing? Sorry SBSD Owl Camera: I have not worked on it. We should pick that up on July 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: Discuss on July 9.th SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, market Cube. SBSD Owl Camera: do you want to put the scorecard in the racy in the same? Or they're different. I think they're different. SBSD Owl Camera: Right? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay? Alright. And any other discussion of agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright,
074then we're moving on to SBSD Owl Camera: future agenda items, parking lot. Do we need to. I think we need to add that parking lot question to the next meeting to superintendental meeting. Maybe we have moved the. There's a agenda item for parking lot. I think we should move that to Wednesday. SBSD Owl Camera: because super simple to be here. SBSD Owl Camera: Can you plan on a specific? SBSD Owl Camera: It says, agenda planning B future agenda item, slash parking lot. So we have a question you're putting in. SBSD Owl Camera: So I was just suggesting moving this or or adding SBSD Owl Camera: to the Wednesday meeting in 2 days, this parking lot agenda, unless anybody knows what that means. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright. Well, I know that the parking lot doesn't mean
075an actual parking lot. It means like, that's where we would park a posted note with the question. SBSD Owl Camera: But you do have several agenda items that you wanted to ask the superintendent about which you could do if you put it on the agenda base SBSD Owl Camera: like in monitoring, for example. Right? I've got that? Asked Violet. It's not. We're not going to warrant. I mean, I'm not unless she says, yes, let's you know. Let's do it then. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, so now, we're moving on to item, 12. Consent, agenda. SBSD Owl Camera: Do I do a screen? SBSD Owl Camera: Are there any questions on any of the items on the consent? Agenda? SBSD Owl Camera: All right. Do I have a motion to approve the incentive. I don't think you
076need a motion, I think if there are no questions you could just say here and no questions. The incentive, hearing no question. SBSD Owl Camera: hearing no questions to consent, agendas approved by consent. SBSD Owl Camera: and sometimes I read out like what some of those boldness. But SBSD Owl Camera: sometimes I'll just highlight. What's improving the notes for some meetings, or maybe order numbers? SBSD Owl Camera: Okay? Alright. SBSD Owl Camera: So we do have an executive session now. SBSD Owl Camera: So moving on to agenda. Item 13. Optional executive session. SBSD Owl Camera: Don't think we need one. Want to discuss. SBSD Owl Camera: didn't we have items that were on a previous executive session that we didn't get to Kate. Real estate SBSD Owl Camera: we need to discuss, and it's from
077the Forum, or at least there was an update. SBSD Owl Camera: Joe, do you have any items for us? And it. Do you think it would be a good idea to have executive sessions. Joseph McNeil: Mr. Chairman, I honestly do not think that an executive session is needed this evening. Joseph McNeil: There could be an executive session either on Wednesday or on the 9.th That would cover Joseph McNeil: the items that I'm aware of. SBSD Owl Camera: And will you be available for executive session on the 18.th Joseph McNeil: I will be. Oh, no, I won't be on the 18, th but I I would be there after. SBSD Owl Camera: And if we were to do an executive session now, would you be available for it? Joseph McNeil: Yes. SBSD Owl Camera: But he
078says it doesn't think it's necessary. Well, it's up to us good. SBSD Owl Camera: I wouldn't mind taking a moment to go into executive session. I don't think it would have to be landing page. I think we need to be very clear about what it is we're discussing, right? Yeah, right? SBSD Owl Camera: So you can only talk about labor negotiation right? And the SBSD Owl Camera: The executive session on the 9th is again only labor negotiations, and on the 18th SBSD Owl Camera: we do not have an executive session. SBSD Owl Camera: So this means that we don't have SBSD Owl Camera: So if there are other topics SBSD Owl Camera: for executive session, I think we have to warn them. SBSD Owl Camera: So maybe we can follow up about that, since we
079can't do it today SBSD Owl Camera: so we could warn them for the 9.th We could, or we could even warn them for the 18.th Oh, right? Yes. So the only one that I was concerned about was the real estate issue. Is that something that we do not need to discuss, or we do need to discuss it. We don't. It's fine. SBSD Owl Camera: Okay, but I'll follow up with you, Jen, just to make sure that SBSD Owl Camera: can also hold a special meeting and have a second session. There's something we're taking. SBSD Owl Camera: We should have done by a lot of data. SBSD Owl Camera: Alright. Then moving to item 14 adjournment. SBSD Owl Camera: do I have a motion to adjourn? SBSD Owl Camera: I'm not filtering. SBSD Owl Camera: Do
080I have a second just like any discussion? SBSD Owl Camera: Alright, then? SBSD Owl Camera: Oh, yes, all those in favor of adjournment. SBSD Owl Camera: Yeah. SBSD Owl Camera: The the special meeting of the School Board on June 15th is direct record.
