Hello. Hello. Hello. >> Hey, good morning everyone. Good morning. >> Good morning. >> Could I please get everyone's attention please? First of all, I want to thank all the staff and the volunteers that can make this possible. A lot of work goes into this every year. Um, and we work really hard to try to give the best possible senior day in the park to all the seniors and everyone involved. I also want to thank all the sponsors with them. Without them, we couldn't have we couldn't make this possible. And I want to thank all the local dignitaries that that help us and they're always here to support the senior center and all the endeavors we do. And then last but not least, you seniors. Nothing would be possible without all of you guys and we

really appreciate you guys coming to the senior center and coming to all of our events. So without further ado, I'd like to call Barren. He's a member of our board to sing the national anthem. Oh, I'm all right. >> If we could get everyone to stand up and uh help me sing this one. [Music] >> How's everyone out there this afternoon? >> Wonderful. >> Let me hear some noise out there. >> All right. I know you're out there. Okay. Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hail at the twilight last gleaming, whose bright stripes and bright stars cars through the perilous fight. Or the ramp parts we watched were so gallently streaming. And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave roof through the night, that

our flag was still there. Oh, say that our spangle banner. Yet way for the land and of the free and the home of the brave. Thank you. [Music] >> So, so up next we have another one of our board members, Stephanie. She's gonna introduce our senior of the year. Good afternoon everyone. Let's hear for Beverly. Come on. Well, Beverly and and the Beverly Senior Center. Yeah. Come on, Beverly Senior Center. Good afternoon. I am honored today to be presenting the 2025 Senior of the Year Award. This person is a lifelong resident of Beverly and a proud graduate of the Beverly Public Schools. For over 20 years, she gave back to the community that shaped her by serving as a dedicated teachers aid in schools throughout the district, positively impacting the lives of countless students and

staff. This summer, she celebrated her 49th wedding anniversary. I know. Very nice. Congratulations. She and her husband met while working at AM grocery store in Beverly. They raised their daughter together. they raised their daughter. She is affectionately known as Fred to her husband and close friends, but her favorite name is Nan because that is what her grandchildren call her. Nan is a grandmother extraordinaire to two lucky grandchildren, an honorary grand uh an honorary Nan to one more. Nan has has run nan camp over the summers entertaining her grandkids for years. In addition to caring for her grandchildren, she has opened her home to a few young ladies over the years who have needed a home while they are studying and finding their way in the world. Two of the women in particular are forever grateful

to her, her generous and loving spirit, and it has meant the world to them. She learned how to knit and bake apple pie from her grandmother. She learned how to crochet from her mother. She taught her daughter how to sew. She always had some sort of craft project going on, usually more than one at once. Her specialty is the kitchen. Uh, her specialty in the kitchen is cooking grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron. All right, then. Not to worry if you show up at her house hungry. A grilled cheese is only a minute is only minutes away. And I do not believe you need to bring your own iron. Just going to throw that out there. uh volunteerism and community, giving with your whole heart, living a beautiful life with immeasurable impact and expecting nothing

return is what makes her a servant leader. She is generous with her time and skills. She's been a Girl Scout troop leader, is an active member of her church, washing, bleaching, sewing, ironing linens, and baptismal gowns for the next generation of Catholics. have driven her friends to cancer treatment and provides her guidance wherever it is needed. For example, need a dress hemmed or something taken in, she can do that. Need a house built? She and her husband built their own. Need to do minor electrical? Check. Uh, make a baby blanket for a new family member. Check. Teach a child their ABCs, one, two, three, and days of the week. Check. Check. Check. The list goes on and on. At Beverly Senior Center Senior Center, she is a bright light in her exercise class, an avid

participant in the library reading group, a challenger in monthly puzzle palooa, a leader in the end college walking club, a helper at the farm stand, and an overall help helping hand for activities and events big and small. On a personal note, I've known her for 25 years when we were together. Our kids were in high school and we were together on the Beverly Music Parents Association board. Um, and I was told today that she had her fingers painted uh Beverly Senior Center green just to match the t-shirts that she she's wearing for this event. Yes, that's very committed. It doesn't matter if you know her for 5 seconds or more than 50 years. If you need help and you ask her to help you, she will be there. Her openness and willingness to forge new

friendships anywhere and anytime is a testament to her character. She has a big car heart, astounding strength, face faith, intelligence, humor, and a great sense of style in all her roles as a wife, mother, nan, teacher, and friend. If every student, senior, and family she has helped could be here today, this park would be at capacity, and they would have nothing but gratitude and praise for her influence in their lives. She's an asset to the Beverly Senior Center and a citizen that Beverly can be proud of. Congratulations, Ann Nato, 2025 senior of the year. [Music] I'm sorry. [Music] >> You know what? I don't actually know. [Music] Okay, >> thank you. >> She's there. First things first, the hug. >> Thank you very much. >> And then secondly, but I guess more importantly, this is

But in all seriousness, congratulations. You know, just a couple of days ago, Beverly was nationally recognized for the community that's here by the Realtor.com thing. You may have all heard this. I'm sure you have. In the in the whole country, Beverly was

picked out what they described as the hottest zip code. Now, I I don't want you all to leave and run down and put your house for sale cuz we don't want you to leave Beverly. But I really think it speaks to the value of your community. In fact, in the recitation in the award that it was published, it spoke of the community. Now, I've come to this event, as all of you know, just about every year for the I'd say 10 years anyway. It's a long time. And I come here in part because this is a community and you're part of that community, a very important part of that community. And I think that's the real point. Whether it's people like an who do it day in and day out or people like you who

do different things or other people, younger people perhaps in your community. The thing that makes Beverly special is there is that sense of community. And that's what I think we're all here to applaud. Not just Ann because she's going to do her work. You know, I was sitting behind her, so I couldn't help but notice scrolled across her back, it's volunteer because she's the ultimate volunteer for everything. And that's really what so many of you are. So, my words of congratulation are obviously for Ann today, but it's to all of you as well because you contribute to the the sense of community and you provide an example for all of us in Massachusetts. and as Massachusetts does so often to the rest of the country as well about taking care of each other which is

what you all do. So I'm here I'm delighted to be with you today. Glad you had another beautiful day for this special event and want to congratulate Ann on her success in life and her continued good health and good work and all of you upon your community. Councelor at large Brendan Sweeney, counselor at large Hannah Bowen, Ward 2 counselor Danielle Spang, W three counselor Steve Crowley, and W 5 counselor Kathleen Feldman. Uh congratulations to an um not going to read the whole thing, but I did want to highlight a few uh noteworthy comments. And wanted to point out, resident of W 6, proud Beverly Schools graduate, um, met her husband at AM uh, grocery and celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this summer. Congratulations. Um, a dedicated par profofessional in our school system, impacting countless families. um generous Girl Scout volunteer involved with her church, uh community center volunteer.

Again, just countless volunteer activities being involved. And thank you and congratulations. >> Next, we have Mayor Cahill. >> Oh, sorry, sir. >> Sheriff Coffer, I'm sorry. Well, good afternoon everybody and congratulations. And just keep in mind, you know, from the sheriff's department, being a law enforcement agency, you got a pile of citations in your hand. When they come from us, they usually come with a court appearance and a fine, but we we cleaned it up. But I actually have two quick presentations. So, we do have a citation, a good one. So to Ann Nato in recognition and appreciation for your outstanding contributions to the Beverly Senior Center, your passion and selflessness are an inspiration to the many lives you've touched with warmest congratulations on your profound dedication to helping others. Congratulations. And I also brought

a little gift. It's not quite a get out of jail free card, okay? But it doesn't doesn't hurt to have. But this is a challenge coin from the Essis County Sheriff's Department. Challenge coins, if you're not familiar with them, folks, this is a tradition started many, many years ago in the military and law enforcement has adopted it. And you you presented to folks who have done an outstanding job and really dedicated and committed to their to their profession or their volunteerism and you fit that category perfectly. So congratulations, Dan. All the best to you. [Applause] I'll let you sit before. >> And now, Mr. Mayor Cahill. >> Hey everybody. How you doing? Almost lunch. Almost lunch. >> So, so listen. Um, secretary said it and some of you might not have heard it. So, let

me say it again. Just the other day, realtor.com decided, big nationwide survey that Beverly is the hottest real estate in America. Beverly is the favorite community in America. Beverly is America's new favorite city. That's but and and so I've been asked about it and I said, "Hey, thank you realtor.com for the shout out and everybody come on in and take a look and come enjoy our community." But what I started with was we've all known that forever, right? We know how amazing our community, our home is and it's just it's it's because of people like Ann and it's because and I want to make sure I thank it's because of our of our council on or council on aging sorry board of directors our council on aging staff and everybody that makes Beverly the place

it is the amazing home that it is the amazing place to to you know live our lives and whatever whatever goes on. So thank you to everybody who makes Beverly great. and Ann, I've got a proclamation with all the Oh, please stand up. With all the amazing things that you do, it's got all the amazing things you do on it. And so instead of reading the 25 things, I'll get to the kind of point of it. All right? And and the point is that in recognition of Anne's lifelong service, deep dedication to young people, and living a beautiful life with immeasurable impact, Annado has been selected as a 220 2025 Beverly Senior of the Year. And what that really means this year is that you are America's favorite senior of the year, right? and and

Ann, this is really fun to do and it's very deserved, very worthy. Today and forever more, I get to proclaim August 7th, 2025 as Annado Day in the city of Beverly. All right, we have one more for you. >> Next, we have Congressman Molton. Mayor, that is a tough act to follow. Actually, what I can't believe is that I missed the Congo line. You know, we actually have Congo lines in Congress sometimes. It's usually when we're very upset about something. It's usually when we haven't won and so we're protesting. I think winning is sometimes a better strategy. But this is always a great day of the year and it's always fun to come here and see so many of you. And yes, for a long time we have known that Beverly is a very special

community. It has a proud history, but it also is really showing the way to the future. And mayor, your leadership in developing downtown and making this a community for all different kinds of people to afford, to live in, to commute from is really special. So, thank you for your leadership. I know it hasn't always been easy. You know, there are a lot of problems in America today. Has anyone noticed the frustration, the discontent, the animosity? I live it every day. I'm in Washington firsthand. But I think it's important to remember that in our long history as a nation, America has never been a perfect country. We've never been a country that gets it all right, but we've always been a country that believes that we might. And the way we get from here to might

is through volunteers. as volunteers who founded this community, who fought in the revolution, who have showed up in every war or fight since, who fought for the civil rights that so many enjoy today and still fight and still fight every day today as people are trying to take some of those rights away. Your volunteerism in this community has been a model for so many. It's touched lives of people in the Girl Scouts. It's touched lives of anyone who's had your grilled cheese, which I understand are pretty amazing. You even do electrical work around your house. That's very impressive. But I think most of all, you set an example for everyone else who just wants to find a way to volunteer to give back. One of the most frequent questions I get today is, "Seth, what

can I do to help?" Well, Ann, you've shown us the way. So, thank you for your leadership, for your service, and I, too, have a challenge coin. There's there it's not going to get it get you out of jail free like the sheriffs. Uh, but it's an honor to give it to you, and it's an honor to be here with you today. Congratulations. You're very welcome. [Music] I just want to say thank you very much for the privilege of being this and I appreciate it. Thank you very much. Well, just one more time, I want to thank Ann so much for all the hard work that she does and always helping out. And you have a very supportive family. I I don't think I've ever seen this many family members come out for a senior.

I think it's telling to the kind of person you are and how helpful and how loving you are to everyone. So, uh, thank you, Ann. And I know everyone's hungry, so let's get to lunch. Thank you all. >> We have a we have a little flower, too. Innovation.
