001e hello everybody and welcome to the 77th annual holiday parade here in downtown Beverly my name is Al tempkin I will serve today as your co-host along with my formidable partner Francine tkin so if you haven't picked up on it yet we are related we are married and um and I am the boss and she is the boss here today so I'm strictly following orders and uh we are getting close to 120 now the parade as most of you probably know kicks off from the high school at 1:00 and so it should be right up along here uh any any moment now we certainly will hear it before we see it as there are a lot of fire trucks and big trucks that come up um come up ahead of time so uh little change
002this year as well we we in the past uh many many years we've been in front of City Hall uh doing this parade and this year because the Bev cam offices have moved right here uh downtown here Beverly on on Caba Street we decided to move this this broadcast down in front of their offices makes uh setting up a lot easier a lot simpler and um and it's just kind of an easy change so here we are and um I'd like to just kind of thank some people and introduce you to our sponsors before we kind of get this broadcast underway and so first and foremost we want to thank our sponsors which include the Northshore Bank it it includes mcj Insurance Agency lesie sray Insurance Agency Sterling Insurance Agency Institute for savings Salem 5

007they just moved into Beverly during covid and she says this is such a close community and I'm like no no it's a wonderful community and people stay and that's why we do so much in the city of bevly so it's like it's I can't I can't imagine another Community like this our daughter lived in New York now in Connecticut our other one and she said she doesn't meet people that in a community like what we have here so we are very very lucky with all that and look at the crowd today um Alan yeah there's a there's a is fantastic yeah well it's a it's a great day I mean it's a little little nippy out here but um but it's not raining it's not snowing and uh my grandson's having a wonderful time so
008um and I'm going to introduce you to him so um but yeah Beverly is a great community no question about it we got great leadership here in Beverly and um excuse me for one second what can we see them no and this is Jackson what and he's seven months old it's a viewing stand for the politicians if they choose to stand on there what do you think yeah yes um Jackson JD what's up man so um but it really is a great community and and um and I'm so happy and I'm I just want to say congratulations to our teachers and P Professionals for having worked through that uh that issue recently and it it appears I haven't seen a lot of details but it does appear that things worked out for them and that's
009the way it should be so uh we appreciate them we're so glad that things have worked out and we so appreciate all the great work that our teachers and our administrators in our city and our parents do for for our kids so uh and we have two children that uh that have gone through the Beverly school system we have uh our three granddaughters are now in the Beverly school system uh our twin granddaughters are at the Cove Cove school and uh they absolutely love it there and our older uh granddaughter is now in middle school and she absolutely loves it there so uh again congratulations teachers you got what you deserved and and we're so happy for you we we are so happy it's so nice that the kids are back to school life can
010get on and um we are just thrilled for all of these teachers yeah crazy crazy crazy times and all that so is good and we have wonderful things to look forward to yeah for sure and that's you know it's just uh you know it's it's it's kind of sad that you have to go through a process like that um but it's something that we have to do and and and sometimes be reminded that we we need to recognize certain elements of our community in in a bigger way um because they're just so important but you know what else too Ellen our kids our grandkids learned a lesson if you need something you can work for it and the idea that let's have a discussion what's needed so it's not like sitting back so they saw
011their teachers who they support and love who are wonderful to the kids to be out there for them and that was wonderful that the kids and the parents all supported them a great learning experience I agree you know I think and and I know that uh that our daughter really uh communicated with our granddaughters about what was happening why it was happening what it means and yeah I think I agree I think that was um that really was a great learning experience and too bad we had to go through it but it was a good learning experience yeah and everybody understands uh why it was necessary and and but the I guess the the key to to those kinds of events is that the outcome was terrific and and and it worked out great and
012and we all continue to support our teachers and our parents and we just hope that we don't need to go through this again a few years from now so keep up the good work teachers keep up the great work Paris and uh we're on your team we are on your team awesome awesome so we got yeah we got a real crowd uh we got a we got a grinch coming down coming down the way here yeah we got uh we got a we got a grinch yeah nor Shan nor Shan are right here oh very nice they're going to be singing for us the nor Shan are going to be singing for us Grinch yeah yeah lovely yeah wonderful perfect perfect perfect very good the ni shman yeah they do a great great job they

014nor sh is singing right behind us here yes can you hear them this is fantastic the police officer just coming right now making sure the streets are clear we all know the great job wait a minute there is Mr Ray Novak I think we all know who Ray [Laughter] is where you going [Music] so you're not going to see anything from there you want to get in front or get in back [Applause] do you do you care yeah and I can hear them coming now so they should be up in front of us uh anytime as as a matter of fact I can tell you I can tell you right now that you're going to see police cars now you're going to see the Beverly Fire Department which as you know our chief is uh
015Peter o Conner uh Peter does a wonderful job with our fight apartment keeping us all safe and it is the mission of the fire department to provide highquality fire protection and Rescue Services to the citizens of our community and boy do they do just that they do a wonderful job and we're lucky to have them you're also going to see the Salem Fire Department here um Chief Allan Dion uh that also does a wonderful job in the City of Salem uh they're going to talk about they're going to bring through their brand new 20123 Pierce fire ladder truck and in Salem the ladder trucks also carry heavy rescue equipment needed at Automotive accidents Technical Resources uh technical rescues and anything that might require a powerful saw or hearse tools Salem and Beverly regularly work together
016at major accidents whether they're in Salem OR in Beverly you're also going to see Grampy Ed's fire engine Judy and Ed it's a familyowned ranger fire engine the new whip switch they're here every year and they've been for several years but this year they're honoring gry Ed who enjoyed his last parade in 2023 Here's to You gry Ed wow very nice the ipswitch fire department is joining us with engine five bport ambulance will be here service based in gler Massachusetts to disco Services uh Pat to disco full service Towing transportation and vehicle repair company with locations in Salem pey East Boston and Roxbury they also have a use pot and Salvage facility in Salem New Hampshire you'll also see the Beverly the Beverly Department of P please so please uh don't uh don't be sharing

043on Cabbage Street in B and we have little ones and probably I would say up to age eight or 10 very nice with the moms and dads in the background very nice Bly Recreation department is is following them beautifully and accompanied by many of their summer employees who run the Beloved camps our grandchildren go to the C camps um at Dicks Park in Beverly Farms as well as Cove Park and of course Lynch Park and they have a blast with all of their friends from school the conf do a fantastic job and um they love going which is wonderful oh here comes the book mob from The Beverly Public Library um the bookmobile has served over Beverly Community for more than 60 years and it visits more than 80 stops within within the city I
044did that with a Frozen face oh little woman do you remember reading that book little woman this is the Bly High stage right drama club coming up behind me here um they're performing Little Women on Friday December 6th at 7:00 Saturday December 7th at 2 and 7 and then Sunday December 8th wow Little Women they'll be uh be performing at the auditorium at 100 so here Road here in Beverly tickets General ad Mission at the door are $10 for adults $8 for students and seniors so uh yeah there something you want to go see definitely yeah it's all supporting the school so please take the time to go see a beautiful show a beautiful show we're going to be seeing uh the Salem Academy Charter School soon uh they dancing they're coming up and dancing
045they're coming up on Dancing they are located near the point in Salem Harbor communities for students grade 6 through 12 with a focus on College Prep education and service to the community the dance team is an after school club for middle and high schoolers directed by teacher M Ashley springett [Music] the with BS of I think Alan wants to dance with them I I want to I want to dance I want to sing I just want to have fun good job good job guys the Jubilee yach Club should be coming up uh with a boat yeah and we are members of the club and it's uh carrying on the yawning tradition for over a century it's a private membership based organization Incorporated in 1896 and has over four 400 active members over 400 active members

049probably have six courts going all the time they cannot do enough for us so Tim and kavaki thank you so much for all of your support just great just pickle ball is a big deal it's been at the wi since October 22 uh it's recognized one of the Premier pickle ball sites the UI and the NorthShore this is the NorthShore ballet I believe um okay this is gave me a whole list of what I should be saying and I'm talking shocking for those of you that know her just complete shock so come see the NorthShore ballet perform The Nutcracker at the cabit on December 20th through 22nd and I think the kids would really I think we as adults would enjoy it but I think the kids would also enjoy it and here's the Carefree

051left out we watched the Macy's Parade on on on Thanksgiving day and it was pouring rain it's a beautiful day a little cold but it's not raining and the sun is out on the left side of the street it's beautiful there's a dance team right here look at these kids look at that they're dancing I feel like I can't move cuz I'm an ice cube and these kids are out here dancing well they're moving we're not [Music] moving we should we see uh sparer dream princess parties coming up in a minute uh fairy tale princesses Heroes and more make magic for guests of all ages at parties and events across New England happy holidays from as they say from our Castle to yours well what's really nice is when our kids see all the princesses
052down at the high school and everybody's getting ready to start with the float and the kids go over and see the princesses and like the real princesses and their eyes are wide open they get so excited when they see them it was like we have so many pictures of our grandkids with the princesses it's beautiful oh and here comes Cinderella at the back and we have Belle we have Frozen Ella and Ella and and Ella where my kid Happ with this should be looking now at the Beverly Cub Scout Pack 2 uh founded on principles such as honesty community service respect and personal growth the pack encourages boys and girls to learn new skills develop character and engage in outdoor activities they focus on building friendships teamwork and Leadership qualities as a supportive environment they're
