Andy thank you uh we also want to thank our awesome SP spors quite quite honestly without this fantastic group of people this parade just doesn't happen because this is a totally volunteer program and it's uh not funded by anybody the city or anybody else it's just strictly people who decide that they want to want to be a sponsor and and and send money to to keep this parade without them exactly right we could not and I I want to send a special thank yous out to them first we're going to begin with Beverly Bank Beverly bank one of the greatest Community Banks in the world they they support everything in the city of Beverly and it's so much appreciated we also want to thank Beverly Hospital a member of Ley the Beverly Rotary Club of

which I am a very proud Beverly rotarian and we'll see their float here today the institution for savings marel headban uh this year is a is a sponsor once again uh as well as Northshore Bank and the Salem 5 again Minute Man Press and Beverly owned by phel BR by friend phel Rodrick uh who's a member of our of our committee nor sure 104.9 you may have heard some of the some of the commercials uh these past few days about the about the parade did a great job as usual Paul guy had Super Sub and creative catering also obviously uh for yum is right uh president of our of our city council uh this year and in fact many years um Paul's a great guy in supporting our parade tempkin Financial Group I'm proud to

say uh we support this parade as well Wayside trailers Don Kelly and his uh probably one of the most giving families uh in the universe and um and so it's all good in fact the the uh the uh trailer that we're sitting at and are sitting on Don uh uh donates this every single year every year and there's a trailer behind us this year for a viewing stand for our political leaders which is also donated by Dawn at Wayside thank you so much Don much appreciated uh glovsky and glovsky Law Firm is a new sponsor this year and just want to say just want to say thank you to glovsky and glovsky I do um quite a bit of work actually over there and they're just a great Law Firm they've got some Wicked smart

people over there wi smart and they're really really good to work with and also we want to thank Goldberg gold excuse me Goldberg easy for you to say Goldberg properties who this year is also a new sponsor than for us thank you so it's uh so it's very good and we do we do thank our sponsors and for those of you that might want to consider sponsoring this parade in the future please go right on the website there's a sponsorship form there we will take any amount we will take uh newborn babies we'll take whatever it is to help make this parade do what it needs to do each year that's right thank you Al and I also think it's appropriate to congratulate this year's Grand Marshall JY Wallace absolutely uh JY well deserved yeah

it really is I mean when you think about the revitalization of this downtown over these past several years it's all about leadership it's all about creativity it's all about dedication and that's Jen she's brought that to this to this city our our downtown is one of the most thriving downtowns in the area and getting better yes um they're now introducing the uh 2030 program it was 2020 it was 2020 and that's almost upon us now that's exactly right and and we've made great progress and now we're talking about 2030 to continue that progress uh here in our downtown area but I happen to be uh fortunate enough to be on the hiring committee when we hire really I was oh man I was it was frankly one of my proudest moments because Looking Back Now

and seeing the progress that we've made and the work that she's done it's just it's just incredible it's such a it's such a different feeling down here even I I moved here 20 years ago it's totally different totally different like a different place oh and a great place yeah and she's just uh just a just a wonderful lady and fun to work with uh she's very personable very sociable but she this year was selected uh amongst a a long list of potentials but uh JY uh was unanimous decision by the committee uh to be this year's Grand Marshall and uh we're very very proud to have her uh coming through here uh shortly sitting on the back of a convertible uh waving to the crowd and and just being her typical her typical I know

and congratulations to her so welld deserved um this this town um owes a lot to her and this is just a small thing we can do to repay her for all the great work that she does here that's so true I mean yeah you you wish there was so much more just because she's worthy of that yes but the fact of the matter is that this is this something that we can do yes this is something that we can do and uh uh excuse me for one second please go on the viewing stand huh go on the take your family on the viewing stand stand on the viewing pardon us for this break in yeah go ahead okay sorry about that but you know you got to got to take care of your peeps so

so that was uh okay was we're back that was H that was Lauren and she's such a key piece of this whole this whole Bram she does all of as we said before she's like the word is out we're getting a nice crowd and people are W you're watching at home right now it's a lot has to do with Lauren it really does I you know today in today's world right where do people get information from they get it from social media and so and if you're like me and don't know how to do that well looking at a Facebook page or a uh a website is no I think you can handle that I can look um you can look but I'm saying getting the word out via no no no I can't either

I am totally I agree lost when it comes to that so she uh she volunteers her time she she um you know she just does the whole thing and everybody volunteers their time here they do and uh you including this guy thank you but again it's a whole committee it's all committee work but um but yeah making sure that the website stays up and running make sure the most uh up toate information is put on there right and and in something like this I mean you know we were getting uh uh sponsorships up until like Friday yeah you know kind of a thing so it's almost like daily yes but uh but she she does a great job yeah yeah yeah it's great it's it's uh I mean this this parade just keeps getting better

and better every year and luckily the weather is actually appropriate we were really worried this morning that it was going to to rain on us and we have the really the perfect situation here we really do I woke up uh early early this morning little worried oh no I was like no you can't do this to us you cannot do this to us and and they whoever that is they didn't do it to us now now I'm going to say you get to stand over here too that's my husband I'm telling you get to go on the viewing stand there we go so if you if you're part of this committee if you want to be part of this committee and you get Prime viewing here right exactly exactly or if you know somebody if

you know if you know the big shots like Andy and I and you really you're really cool and that's uh yeah you can you can use the Yeah Yeah in our own minds that is so our own minds yeah we're just waving to people and everything I mean the pra is going to come on down real soon it is and uh it's going to be so loud when it first comes down we're going to have all the um first responder Vehicles the fire trucks the police uh cars and it's going to get so loud that we're really not going to be able to talk during that time so we're getting our thank yous out I think we should one more time before that happens thank our sponsors again I think it's a great idea so

let's do that uh once again thank you special thank you to Beverly Bank to uh Beverly Hospital a member of the Beverly Rotary Club thank you so much um Institution for savings The Marble Head Bank Northshore Bank Salem 5 Minuteman Press in Beverly owned by my friend phel Brodrick norshore 104.9 Paul guy at sup sub and creative catering Paul as you know is also the leader of our city council's president uh he gives so much to the community really in many ways he does he's a popular guy and a hardworking guy yes uh tempkin Financial Group LLC uh happy to sponsor this program every year uh again Wayside trailers Don Kelly uh once again every we couldn't do this really without him we really couldn't oh we'd have to pay for it and that's uh

that would well that's out of our budget on this very slim budget that would be tough to do but Don we appreciate we appreciate it very much thank you so much uh new sponsors this year glovsky and glovsky law firm as well as Goldberg properties so we we really appreciate it so much thank you I think you know I I also want to mention that this year as I as I said in my opening comments we've got some new um some new participants this year that is really exciting it really is exciting and and um one of those participants that you'll be seeing walking through the parade is uh Wally and Tessie from uh the mascots for the Boston Red Sox World Champion World Champions Boston Red Sox and uh so good so good exactly

exactly yay and frankly it's uh as a season ticket holder I'm a I'm a big Red Sox fan I love the Red Sox and and uh so getting them here uh is really exciting it's this is this I think that's what I'm most excited about and my kid is in the parade and I think I'm more excited about that well that's sad that's very sad I love you Eli I love you I think he knows that he does but uh and I love Hing and tussy so so so they're gonna be here they're going to be uh walking through the parade we have um oh what are some of the other newbies we have um we have the the what are the clown uh troop yeah thank you Clowny for kids Clowny for kids that's

right yeah we we brought in the a clown group there going to be about 20 clowns that are going to be running around AES running around for it really is going to be fun the kids are going to have a ball so uh that's going to be kind of cool and then um and this year we also have um thanks to the a a very creative and really bright woman um Becky Beckman she gave us this idea several months ago about uh there were there was a fundraiser for um uh for Pete fredy's organization oh yes so she said she said to me hey how about if we auction off uh an opportunity for a little one to ride in the sleigh with Santa Claus what a great idea is oh my gosh that's so

cool they auctioned it off so all that money went to went to Pete fredy's organization oh that's so great such a great organization fight ALS ALS yeah and um and so there's going to be there's going to be uh a couple of kids and and a parent has to be with them but uh that's going to ride with Santa this year that is amazing that is so amazing and and if you didn't already know about the Pete fredy's organization they started the Ice Bucket Challenge they did which has gone worldwide which has gone worldwide they raised so much money for ALS that way it it's just and it started all right here in Beverly and it well he's an amazing he's just an amazing guy and it's an amazing family it's a great story they

were Grand Marshals of this parade uh two years ago uh I want to say a little bit more than that two three years ago three maybe maybe yeah I remember three maybe three Nancy and John were were um yes were and they were just they're just so gracious and wonder I love them they're just wonderful people so it's a it's a great thing and and so we we were happy to do that and so I'm anxious to see the little kids on the back of the on the back of the thing with Santa CL that's amazing should be fun and that should uh that should help us in future years as well yes so uh yeah so we got a bunch of new things coming on and again as I said in my opening remarks

uh it is the biggest the biggest parade that we've had uh in some years I I yeah in some years I mean I I don't even recall I think it's you're right I mean it it got a little bit smaller the past few years and now we're building back up again and and uh we'll make our assessment when the committee meets in January February to determine if we're going to go even bigger I just keep it the size I don't know I don't know um but um it's this what is it the 71st this year is the 71 Year's the 71st that's incredible it is one of the uh oldest uh uh local parades in the country someone told me I haven't done the research but someone told me that it's the top three really

in the country old yeah oldest oldest holiday parade I believe that uh in a city so that's kind of it's kind of cool cool yeah so the point I guess the point is it's it's something that we we don't want to see go away it's something we want to see stay here and happen every single year and what is happening with these speakers right now we're having a little a little technical difficulties with our mics but yeah no I mean of course there's there's no danger of it going away but we do really count on um our sponsors and you at home too so if you're interested in in donating please go to the website or if you're interested in sponsoring please go to the website or if you have comments about uh the parade

today we'd love to hear from you so please visit the website uh send us an email put a comment on Facebook we'd love to hear from you exactly exactly and that and that site is Beverly holiday parade.com Beverly holiday parade.com yeah I'm starting to hear some some noise they getting close getting there getting there yeah and as Andy said earlier when they get real close you won't be wanting to listen to us cuz you hear us anyway we can't us so we'll kind of keep all our blah blah blah we're we're going to go silent and then uh we let everybody let everybody come through you know it's not only the people of Beverly that enjoy this parade but the dogs too I noticed a lot even more dogs today dog lot of dogs lot

of dogs I don't know if if any of you uh watch the dog show um after the parade the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade there's a dog show on and so if if you are a dog fan you can see lots of great dogs here today as well I am I am a dog fan but I don't want to see the dog show but um I love the dog show one of the other things that I I did want to mention is you might notice uh looking at Andy and I right now that there's a another flatbed right behind us uh We've brought back the viewing stand that this parade had for many many years and then it just kind of went away we're bringing it back and um so this is our first attempt at that

this year probably make some adjustments for next year but this is where we have some of our um extinguished guests will be able to use a viewing stand as well as our local leaders all of the politicians will match up they'll go on the viewing stand so they can see the rest of the parade yeah so and when Santa comes through uh May kill will present Santa with a key to the city oh how fantastic it really is and again it's funny um the past couple of years we've seen um several pictures from from some oldtime Mayors I mean I'm going back years and that's what they did I mean interesting the Mayors with their with their suits and ties on on this day you know cuz that's how you dressed in those right that's

right bringing the key to the city of Santa and and giving them the key and all that stuff so great yeah we decided to bring that back I love that I love that and it's yeah I mean and it's great for the kids the kids love yeah I know but it's nostalgic I mean you know bring back some of that stuff that you used to do yet and it seems like it's happening a lot more now yeah you know so I think it's a great thing I think it'll be enjoyed it'll be enjoyed by the city as I I agree I totally agree oh wow so I'm getting excited here it's getting close it's getting close me too yeah yeah we got a nice crowd around us here uh yeah I know if we can

get I don't know if we can get any um any shot of the crowd of the crowds that are that are right along the parade route here really good yeah that would be helpful yeah yeah yeah we've got uh lot of little kids a lot of families this is such a family this whole season it's such a family season toally you know when my kids were little we never missed it oh we have a little fan there waving to us hi um no when my kids were little we never missed it I mean rain or shine y we sat we we def here's look at the crowd it's so awesome oh there it is yeah I mean look at look at that it's a little chilly but it's not bad and the rain stopped but

you know we it was a tradition for us as well that you know right after Thanksgiving Boom the H holiday parade it's just what you do just what you do yeah so it's just it's just a great thing and I think that uh you know we as as we said and we're going to say several more times we want to continue this so we do need some help so uh you know we hope that you'll take a look at the website and uh maybe make a contribution or a donation uh all would be all would be quite helpful yes that would be amazing yeah I just you're right I I just think everybody kind of looks forward to this it becomes it has become in this city certainly one of those things that you yeah

I mean it's part you know it's it's a tradition here it really is and you don't have to go to Boston you know you don't have to go uh to New York City no you know you don't you you don't have to go to New York City to see the Macy's Parade we have a parade here I mean we it's not on that scale but but you were you going to get front row uh exactly right seats to it right here however I will say okay you've been huh it would no no I would never do that but I will say that it would be so cool to have some people do some of those floats those B oh the oh Theo the big float yeah like from the Macy's Mac that would be really

would be amazing yeah I'd love to see that at some point become part of this parade if you like that idea too go to the website or the Facebook page and tell us yeah please yeah yeah any any thought I like that idea too I I really love that idea I wish we could get some of those balloons right very cool yeah right that would be yeah I mean I just talk about a big addition that would be just phenomenal I know so I know well the crowd's the crowd's really building up now this is really exciting and I'm so glad that they're here for this parade because this is a big so there goes a car that certainly did not pay any attention to the no parking uh no parking on cabage street because

he's just getting tow oh no so yeah so that's probably going to cost him a 100 bucks and I'm saying him it may not be him I don't know who it is you know you could park someplace else and then donate the 100 bucks to the mar I love that I love that idea yeah that's perfect that's perfect oh well I thought well we thought that the prade would be here by now yeah but um yeah so it it's uh you know one of those Traditions that I think everyone who's lived in Beverly who's was little kid in Beverly has at least seen once you know and how could you not I mean this is something you have to do and and again the kids love it right the kids you bring the kids down

they love it I mean there's like three generations maybe even four that are that are here right now could very well be yeah that's really now that kind of blew my mind when I think about that it it really is and it's uh but I do want to say getting back to the parking thing you know the parking thing I had the pleasure of working with uh with Sergeant Tony darza who's who's the uh uh traffic I don't know what this exact title is traffic officer for the I for the city for the Beverly police department and um and working with the chief um it's just it's just been a great relationship and they're they're very understanding of what we're trying to accomplish they they're they're willing you know it's a big deal for them

and they're just do it proudly and uh it's I mean I don't know if you get that in every town um that kind of cooperation I think in this day and age you probably have a lot of cities and towns that just don't have the manp power yeah you know that's a good point but in this very well-run City uh and and our our police department and our fire department are run by some real pros these guys know what they're doing and they're keeping us safe and that's that's the most most important thing right yeah yeah yeah well I hear I hear some stuff but I don't see it yet so well it'll be here in a minute and me for looking at this but I I need to make sure okay somebody needs to

get in touch with me because of parade stuff this Al I'm looking at is stuff this this is this is truly we're in a New Millennium where on TV you can check your phone go I got to keep my eye on my phone we one of the issues that came up last week was was you know hey we need an emergency number in case some of the participants have an issue or whatever right and some people are away that we're hoping to be here and all of that so um I just gave my number so yeah yep it's just um I'm I'm getting really excited right now cuz they're getting closer you can certainly hear them can certainly hear them like we said before we'll be quiet while you watch the uh first responder Vehicles

come through I have a feeling a bunch of people watching us right now are probably clapping yeah I know you said we're going to be quiet they're like we're sick of these people already and the parade hasn't even started who does she think she is Maria stanos what's going on over here yeah well we're up here for a reason we like to talk you know isn't that the truth well it's coming down the pike now um so it's really excited so we'll uh I can see them in the distance coming in yeah we can see the lights right now so we're it's not oh here we go so I guess we're goingon to go on ground and uh and we'll be back on the other side there we'll be back you please enjoy the parade
