i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for roll all jimmy bailey board member ryan christelle board member benedict bauer board member stephanie smith board member jody thompson board member chris nessman the lady hanson state representative mark [Music] alexander [Music] from february 23rd to 2022. i moved to approve um the board minutes for february 23rd 2022. it's an emotion made in secondhead is there any discussion all in favor opposed motion carries okay letters we have a letter from karen van noy for retirement and tim lazzell is head track coach higher first one is from karen vannoy says greetings i'm writing this message to inform you that after 34 years of teaching i'm retiring at
the end of 21-23 school year it's been an honor to serve my last four years of my career at alma and i wish all the best for alma in the future my exit date is june 15th and my retirement date is august 31st consider this my formal notice i want to thank miss van oye for her time and service to be on the school district yeah thank you next is tim rozelle here on the school board as the athletic director i'm recommending hiring tim lisbon field coach position for the alma high school at alma high school mr lizzell currently works for the elma school district as a math and social studies teacher and as our head middle school track coach last year mr lazelle grew up in the raymond south bend area and participated in
track throwing events where his father was the head coach for 30 years being raised in a track family he spent many hours volunteering at numerous events his experience as an athlete and athletic coach will be a tremendous asset to our alma high school track program mr lizzell has clear expectations of student athlete accountability in school and on the field it is nice to see students who haven't done track before decide to give it a try because they feel they will be supported in their diversity equity and inclusion by mr lazelle's coaching philosophy mr lizzel has consistently impressed me with his self-motivation to learn more about the sport and also by offering suggestions for how to improve our turnout equipment and facilities he also has a big picture vision for how he would like to grow
the program please approve the hiring of tim mizell as the head track and billboard for alma high school respectively jane elaine l matt larrix thank you for reading that hey consent agenda there's an emotion made and seconded is there any discussion bernadette um just one thing i noticed we have something new on the consent agenda with the volunteers i think there was some questions that we're not on the consent agenda we're not approving or disapproving you know volunteers the consent agendas like business that's going on during the month for the district and we're saying yes to the kids agenda not necessarily the specific so i would like superintendent nessman to go ahead and clarify the difference between that and um why we don't do approval of the uh fundraisers like as an example of the
consumer comparison between the two so a good example is what the board is approving so under board policy and i don't have it up in front of me we actually have uh volunteers and new employees are under the same board policy and what it says is the superintendent makes the recommendation for the board for the consent agenda what the board is approving is that the policy was occurring i'm sorry i said the policy was followed so to be an employee of the yama school district you must complete an fbi background check and a washington state patrol background check to be a volunteer we have to complete a washington state patrol background check what you're approving is that we have followed those uh police board policies procedures and legal requirements and that everybody we are presenting
to you is clear to be with our students and then again it creates a public record that these people have been vetted and recommended by the superintendent to the board that we have covered all the background checks we can say everybody on that volunteer list has passed you know has gone through a washington state patrol background chat um that's also why we have the asterix which there's new additions because we had a few new additions coming in because we haven't gone through this approval process for the volunteers but for us it makes sense that parents know who's working with their kids and you as a board can confirm that everybody working with our students has been you know vetted from a legal standpoint and then can you clarify why we're not guessing so we do
have later in the agenda we do have an approval for fundraisers but the specific fundraisers that are coming up is with them so like on that face mask the use of our elma copyright use of our logo or the use of our facilities and i think when we read through we only looked at specifically uh fundraisers that were using elma school district facilities to make sure that there's not a conflict with our other elma school district you know our own element school district programs or that or the use of our copyright as our public image of how that's being you know betrayed the public just to give the board a chance to approve those are not consent agenda items those are you know how is our logo or image or our facilities being used just
one thing that pops up real quick is the volunteers um the washington state patrol background check is that just for the of washington or is that nationwide just i believe it's just for the state of washington for crimes that have happened in state of washington and that's the requirement for volunteers is that they have a background check within the state of washington now it could be crimes that happen nationwide will be flagged within washington state they're you know big enough for severe enough but it's typically generally washington state crimes things that are on record with our state patrol so when we do background checks on staff and you say a full fbi is it is it a matter of cost um it's a matter of process we can do a state patrol background check based
on their id and i said you've been anything been on file with them within the washington washington state um a good example would be if someone did have a crime against a child that typically carries when they move to a state has to notify that they've moved to our state um but the fbi includes fingerprints so it does the full fingerprint so it also includes crimes that that person right you know might not have known or whether you know whether their fingerprints are on file so the big difference is is a washington state patrol database search of their id versus the full fingerprint background check okay just so we can exhaust this one all the way through these are right here only volunteers specifically to athletics but um volunteers are thinking specific to the like
elementary school pre-code who would have had like a parent volunteer in the classroom on a weekly basis um would that now be in the same kind of yes okay but but you hit on a really really really big key detail a volunteer is somebody who has a routine schedule right and i think uh a lot of times what we've attributed as a volunteer is not under the legal definition under our board policy a volunteer because our board policy does define a volunteer so pta coming in to work with our students for valentine's day for a non-routine schedule is technically a district-wide campus visitor somebody coming in we're coming in working with our students with a schedule that they've worked out with mr keating that says i'm coming in monday wednesdays and fridays from 2 p.m
to 3 p.m every day for the entirety of the year would be by definition volunteer yeah through coveted we have not been having in-person volunteers we have had visitors we've had pta come in we've done lots of events that is by definition a visitor and that's been really it's kind of good to clarify this because it's been a big question on i haven't been able to work with my student kindergarten earlier no no we've allowed parents to come visit as visitors we've never imposed during the covert policy but it's been that kind of question on am i a volunteer or am i a visitor and there's and that's really where coaches kind of hit it really cleanly because they're at practice every day for the season and a lot of our families who come in
to work with elementary students haven't had that set schedule that set schedule is the difference thank you hey is there any further discussion so we have a motion and a second all in favor all right opposed motion carries hey discussion i even have it on my high school i'd presentation to introduce uh mr bill oppenheimer and uh christie kershaw they have here with a group of students i think they're leading our presentation for this evening so i'll turn the floor over to um [Music] i'll go ahead and lean it off um last month we celebrated uh cte month and um february kind of came and went and so it made sense for us to still continue having a presentation of our students or our seniors that are graduating and what cte has done for them
and what some of the leadership activities they've done and and it worked well to connect with our high school presentation today so with me today i have four students um i would have more but spring sports and everything is kind of mixing all that up um but the four students here are lindsey blackett hannah mccoy haley alexander and abby ginitas and i'm gonna have them stand and introduce themselves and just say their career goal and kind of what they've done in high school and how that's helped them out so my name is haley alexander my plans after high school are to attend tacoma community college and they have a really popular ultrasound technician program that's what i plan to do after high school some cte classes that have helped me throughout my high school career
have definitely been zero hours xero has given me lots of real life instances like learning how to stop scholarships and resumes and portfolios leadership is another cga class that's been really helpful and it has helped me learn to become a better leader and i am able to be more confident in myself as i'm talking to all of you right now um a couple ffa events that have helped me are market animals those have been something i've been doing since the fifth grade i have done a market lamb and this will be my third sec third year doing a market hog doing an animal has definitely helped me come out of my shell i was very shy when i was young and learning to talk to different people and working with an animal and learning more
responsibility has definitely been something that's been really helpful throughout high school and just becoming who i am today thank you my name is hannah mccloy i want to attend grace harbor college after high school i want to get my bachelor's degree in early childhood education because i want to be a second grade teacher um this the seat the two cte classes that helped me the most were zero hour and leadership zero hour helped me with resumes miss kershaw helped me with filling out scholarships and just all that fun stuff and then leadership was another one because it introduced me to working with little kids because we would come down to the elementary school and we'd have a buddy and then we'd like play with the buddy and then we'd help them with their school work
if we still had enough time and i just really fell in love with working with young children i really like the environment and enough of that ffa event that helped me was farm for kids i didn't i personally didn't compete in it but i helped volunteer with the group that was and i helped instruct the children on what they were supposed to do and how to do it and i was just kind of a part of that and i really liked how it made me yeah thank you my name is lindsay blackett after high school i plan to go to utah state university to get my bachelor's in nursing um i want to be a nurse anesthetist and double specialize in surgical nursing uh classes that helped me definitely definitely definitely zero hour has given
me loads and loads of opportunities um events that have helped me partly i'm calm at issues the list goes on um i think that really working in those team events is something that gives you very valuable skills and through all the setbacks and everything that you endure our advisors are definitely the best people in the world who help us no matter what and we can always come to them for anything imaginable and for that i say thank you um yeah uh through ffa and just ag hershaw has set up medical workshops and stuff that we can go to and i just think that overall it's a really great program and i wouldn't trade my involvement in it for the world hello my name is fabi benitez and what i plan to do after high school
is attend south puget sound community college to earn my education degree first get my associates for two years and then transfer to university for my four years to earn a bachelor's degree in education cte classes that has really helped me is definitely zero hour i learned lots of skills i learned how to make resumes how to do job interviews which would really which would be helpful with me throughout like my future some ffa events i did that helped me was parliamentary which was running a meeting which really helped me and um also during job interview which also really helped me a lot so thank you thank you very much um i'm just briefly going i don't need to stand in a certain spot oh okay i move around wherever you feel like it follow you
great um no it's it's great to see these kids here tonight and um it was great to be last night doing interviews with some of these kids too it was fun i loved ffa i was in ffa as a kid so i really enjoy it um what i'm going to have for you tonight is just i i was not on the committee at the beginning of the year like some of the others um but i was going to talk to you a little bit about kind of we called it the state of the state of the state of the school kind of some things going on at elma high school i was told before um try to beat mr keating's nothing can beat the presentation he did and so i'm in the presence of greatness
so my hands are ringing a little bit and so i'm just going to try to get through this and do the best i can but if there is a next year [Laughter] we can go to the next slide and this is one of my favorite quotes i just threw that in you'll see every powerpoint's got the quotes but i this is mine that i've lived by i'm a former cte teacher as as a teacher i work closely in cte but as administrator i spent most of my time working to improve academics so i've kind of been both of that but this is just one that i've always kind of lived by and it's worked for me so you can go on the next one um so first one one of the building goals and i'm
going to go over a couple that were done before me and we can talk about that and one uh the first one was attendance and then uh so the building goal is to uh ehs will maintain a minimum of 85 percent average attendance per week and then the next slide has some of the data so you can see we're at data wise um in some areas we beat that and especially in december it's really good i went on the ospi um report card to look back from years past but it's been down for a while so i don't i can't compare it to two or three years ago but you could still see um there are some areas that we need to work on um especially in twelfth grade um but uh all in all
it's been pretty good it's been a focus of ours since i've been there on attendance and um talking to kids that had poor attendance meeting with their parents and just really focusing on how important it is to be at school and be on time so that's one of the areas we worked on going to the next and then building goal number two that the staff decided was reduce the number of d's in apps great uh each period and so there's some data on the next um two slides but we'll look at this one right now one thing teachers are doing and they're doing a very good job is when they give assessments of students um if a student does poorly in a certain area of that assessment they're allowing them to be to do some
reteaching and then reassess just that area and then give them mastery credit or credit or whatever it is in the grade so that really falls into that mastery learning that we're going to be working on so i applaud the staff they've done a fantastic job of doing that very good um and so we can go on to the next one so you can see overall if you look on the left in 2021 the average for d's and f's was about 24.68 now we're at 12 14.41 which is quite the drop and again you have to factor in your mind code but i mean kobe was going on too and a lot of online learning but we're happy that we're seeing this number go down definitely and then if you look on the next slide over
um the rate of d's and f's again same thing has gone down so we're uh we're on the right track i think with what we're doing so i wanted to make sure and show that because that's a super positive and a shout out to the staff that's really working hard on that on that you only captured 10th and 11th 10th 11th and 12th grades yes we did and that's separate because i don't know honestly i don't know we pulled that off of um 5d and so um we can definitely get that back in fact i'll get the ninth grade and make sure we look at that too we have looked at it i don't i can't honestly tell you why i didn't throw it on it's a good question though and then one thing um
we i started meeting with um a group from the leadership class on ways to improve student lunch try to get student voice involved in that they did a great job they had some awesome recommendations and mr christensen was real good about working with them and so now we've got um it's and food is if you know you have children it's absolutely paramount you know and so it's really a morale thing and it comes down to to me i've always believed that um kids being fed also has a direct impact on your um your achievement and so we worked with them and mr christensen we were able to get a couple more we have two entrees now a day and we got the salad bar back again and so it's really made a difference with kit
it's been huge because during coven and that it um it got yeah um in their defense they worked very hard it's just the food they were getting was just heat and served to try to get to them and so the quickest way and packaged so it's changed a lot and so i'm really proud of this group we meet once a week on things we can change this last week students talked about having more access to microwave ovens and so we bought some microwave oven than a couple carts and so i'm just working with them so it's been a lot of fun great great kids that we're working with so that's been really good it's been a positive for all of us and then you go on the next one and then a student involvement i
don't know um probably you've all gone to plays and different things that go on at alma high school tomorrow's choir if you like to go there's a choir concert um kids are just super involved here um we the play they did a fantastic job for the play and then uh band has done really well especially at the christmas at the christmas program and then again like i said they'll be there tomorrow night for the choir concert and they they're really sound good this year they're fantastic so and then we go on in the next one and then some things since in my tenure is um i learned a long time ago from a mentor don't buy into these big programs that promise the world an achievement focus on small little things and if you continue
to do small little things with little improvement over time you have a lot of improvement so one of the things that was causing a problem in our instructional day was the third lunch because it broke those lunches up so teachers would teach for 30 minutes kids would leave for 30 minutes they would come back so the first 30 minutes they were thinking about lunch second 30 minutes they were thinking like what did i see for lunch not so much about class so we got rid of the third lunch we also um i changed it to um the the process before tardies is if you walk into a classroom tardy you were sent to the office you got a slip you took it back to your teacher and it just wasted time and so we bought
what's called an attendance kiosk so during first period if kids are late they come to the kiosk put their lunch number in it prints a slip they take it to their teacher and then away they go and it automatically puts it in skyward which is cool and then from that point on teachers just keep track themselves of tardies and when kids get a fourth tardy they send them down for progressive display so we're not continuously pulling kids out for every single tardy and we really didn't have a maximum target it's just like lots of tardies so we did that to try to increase the amount of time kids are in classes as well and then the ever-loving cell phones um when i got there cell phones you could pretty much use your cell phone anytime
you wanted we collectively decided that we were only going to allow those during passing time at lunch and it's been tough on kids because in the last couple years cell phones for a lot of kids have been their best friends and their only outlet they're just hung up on them so um we're getting there we're doing a lot better job with that too so just these these things we're doing just to maximize the time i think the staff has gotten sick of me saying we're gonna maximize the structural time and it uh hopefully will show a difference for us i think that might be the last one yeah any questions for me right thank you very much appreciate it great job thank you bill christie um all the students just want to thank you guys
so much um like i said uh having our students talk about where they're going showing that we're having students in class how we're doing this is really really proud of the teams that we've had in place and i just really am confident of the direction that we're moving so i can be back on top of that and say i think it's wonderful that in all aspects of the education building um with their track to where they want to go how they need to get there and also the little things like lunch and whatnot giving those kids agency to have this you know choice that they can make is powerful and it's it's really important and i think it's good work so thank you thank you guys [Music] okay communications and comments anyone from eto eesp
a copa admin do we have any persons we heard the comment okay uh good news mr nessman yes um every waking moment of our day has been in meetings to figure out what the new recommendations are and what we do know is that 11 59 p.m the mass mandates will be over and that means beginning on monday students will have the choice in whether or not if they wear a mask or whether they don't wear a mask we know a lot of students it's an interesting development a lot of students have said that they like having masks you know it's almost become a comfort zone and we want to make sure that students who choose to wear masks are supported and we've also had a lot of students who say you know we're really eager
to not wear masks we want to make sure our population of students who don't want to wear a mask or feeling supported so we're going to have new challenges but the the next step is to just know that we know that we're moving in a direction so masks will be ending on friday 11 59 yeah are there other social distance changes there is a lot of recommendations so um yes we will be having an email go out tomorrow and i was going to include that in my superintendent report an email will be going out tomorrow to staff on the updated coveted guidance and how we'll be managing that so that will be in an email out from the district tomorrow morning internally tomorrow morning and i think it'll be a consolidated because there's a lot
that doesn't impact parents that'll go out to the greater communities thank you okay uh unfinished business so the approval of policy 3246 restraint isolation and other uses of reasonable for second and final reading i'll move for the approval of policy 3246 restraint isolation and other uses of reasonable force second final reading sorry this agenda is different than this do you see that just jump down here is that strange oh is it sorry about that um there's been a motion made and seconded for the approval uh i'm sorry about motion made and seconded is there any discussion all in favor opposed motion carries sorry about that i somehow got the wrong agenda up okay approval to adopt policy 3424 opioid related overdose reversal second and final reading i'm looking for the approval to adopt policy 3424
opioid relate opioid related overdose reversal second final reading i'll second that emotion made and seconded is there any discussion was the piece put in or the change it's modified that um in our procedure that the universe has the ability to train um local people for the narcan okay thank you i just want to clarify okay is there any further discussion all in favor aye opposed motion carries uh approval of policy 5410 holidays second and final reading i'll make a motion for the approval of policy 5014 holiday second and final reading i'll second that okay there's an emotion made and seconded is there any discussion all in favor opposed motion carries approval policy 62-20 bid requirements second and final reading i moved for the approval policy 6220 bid requirements second and final reading i'll start with
that there's an emotion made in second and is there any discussion all in favor opposed motion carries okay move on to new business we have approval of the superintendent mid-year evaluation let me just read it off of what i've written down that's right okay okay so under the superintendent meteor evaluation um please the board feel that mr nesmith is satisfactorily completing his tasks what i wrote in the evaluation is that mr ness is most certainly satisfactorily making strides in the standard set for in his value for his evaluation we recognize these goals and standards this year in the developmental stage and will take on better part of the school year to build for this review we are more than happy to say we give a satisfactory score although we would like to recognize the work
mr nesmith is doing has been done at a level that sees many expectations of the board we look forward to the finished and final thoughts thank you i appreciate that yeah excited about the work we have coming and i'm also excited that the elements of mark so tonight on our board agenda was not an item on my evaluation but on future board agenda items on those discussion items when it is pertaining to my evaluation or strategic planning that will be earmarked on those discussion items so that way we can kind of cover that so when those discussion items are happening then that way it'll be flagged ahead of time right okay thank you um approval of the south olympic coalition versatile rural health workforce this is an agreement with multiple hospital consortiums um and uh
it is a quick summit pacific and this agreement allows us to begin uh trying to place high school students in medical based internships on a pilot system normally medical internships are pretty highly uh controlled through a preceptor a medical preceptor accreditation process but there is a new pilot to try out in summit pacific in the illness school district are being included in this pilot of this partnership which we give our students as we heard tonight students who have a desire to pursue career medical careers but have the ability to try it out and i have a motion so are we is the contract is that we're moving okay i move for the approval of the south olympic coalition's versatile rural health workforce a second [Music] there's been a motion made and seconded is there any
discussion all in favor aye opposed motion carries let's back up for a second do we need to approve your evaluation yes we talked we just moved right on okay so let's let's jump back up to um number 10 a under new business approval of superintendent made your evaluation it's all nice and well that we talked about it but we probably should approve it i moved for the approval of superintendent mid-year evaluation i'll second it an emotion made in second is there any discussion or further discussion all in favor opposed motion carries sorry about that of course okay so let's get back down to c approval of baseball booster fundraiser jamie bailey who's that i kind of got thrown into this one just because i was gonna be here so um it looks like the only
two highlighted ones is just the concessions of the high school games um which we would use the concessions out there and then they've got signage in the outfield that is a fundraiser where local businesses sponsor a sign and their logo is put on it and it's hung from the fencing out in the field the baseball program advertisements and program sales are not happening so just a signage yeah i'll move for the approval of baseball booster fundraisers i'll second it then emotion made in seconded is there any discussion i'll abstain from voting on this one noted is there any further discussion all in favor okay opposed motion carries thanks jamie okay uh approval of fast pitch booster fundraiser and i'm not sure what booster representative is here unless that you are doing that i think it's
kelly she's here kelly alexander she she's on one second [Music] hello i'm here you're waiting for me hi you have right um go ahead okay um i believe that the two items that were highlighted were for the signage donations and that would be um contacting local businesses to renew or acquire a new um the donation to support um on the high school fast pitch and then the other item was the plaque or the family donation plaques and those were just a thought that we had because some families send donations and how could we recognize them for their contribution to the program and that would be through um getting small um plaques made that were about three by i believe it was three by eight in size with the family's name posted on put on it
engraved on it or stamped and then they would be hung um in some fashion that we're still figuring out how they would hook together but it would be something that we could put like at the fence the back of the dugouts or at um one of the fences on site at the fields to show those families who are in support and have donated or made a financial contribution to the program anybody have any questions for kelly and kelly on the sponsor family sponsorship plaques is there you know sometimes you see them where there's gold donors silver donors or is this you know or do you have certain monetary amounts that or yes we did talk about that having like a gold silver and bronze level um and those amounts were that we had spoke of
were from like a 25 50 and 100 donation level um and that the concept also came up like maybe that gold level needed to be more of a little bit higher so we were we were going to um divide that out on um financial contribution into three categories we'll move for the approval of the fast pitch booster fundraisers i'll second it an emotion made and seconded is there any further discussion all in favor opposed motion carries thank you kelly thank you all superintendent report we have had a lot going on so uh and i'm actually happy that uh jeff monroe was here jeff has been running around with engineers for the last couple weeks um and be part of our long-range facility study and reviewing the actual our buildings the structural integrity of our buildings
engineering issues as well as how are we instructionally using those buildings we're also running all the conduit as we're getting our uh our uh security system set up also last week uh julie crawford and mark keating are here and also with the leadership of sunshine perry um had their first master order second mastery based learning meeting where they work with teacher teams and the esd to begin mapping out all of the standards kindergarten through 12th grade so we actually will start building and have a plan on exactly what our students will be learning as they progress through our alma school district system and we'll know exactly what students are learning with proficiency sales ms kershaw last week at christie kershaw led two evenings with our portrait of a graduate work with our community one evening
in english one evening in spanish where families have had the ability to come in and talk to us and really communicate with the district on what do what do our families want to have for our students and this has been part of our work on are we listening to all of our populations are we hearing all of our populations and and do we really like do we don't you know so this has been a big goal of ours on what is that commitment we're making to our families that if your student graduates from elma high school or the alma school district what have you know what what are those agreements what are we committed to and we really want our families a part of that process to know when you graduate from alma this is
what we've promised we will complete um i think last the only thing i would kind of circle back around is uh well and actually wendy's here uh we actually have all of our cell data in so we did our student surveys in our social emotional learning that is now getting put into our five lab data and when we do our next uh data our next data dashboard review all of that data should be in place so we can begin looking at where our students in regards to our social emotional learning but then where are our students in regard to social learning uh social emotional learning and how is it impacting our students in the classroom so we'll be able to again begin cross-referencing that data then um actually eric and chrissy were part of some
consortiums that are top school districts in the nation kind of leading change saying that the rule of education is about preparing students for life beyond high school and eric and christie will be meeting with other districts next week so eric is going to be working on our district data dashboards on mapping out the data what are those measurements and how can we and compare our data to other school districts leading this national work the very last thing is i'm going to circle this all the way back to jeff again we are looking for community members to be involved on our long range facility planning meeting jeff is messing up with the engineers we're going to start having our dates set but we're still looking at one meeting a month from april through august for active
community voice on once we get these engineering studies what does it cost to make the engagement what does it cost to make the fixes what does our community feel are our top priorities in the illness school district that we need to take care of for the good of our community and the good of our students so for anybody who's on the board meeting uh jeff is going to begin once he's got his date set heavily promoting engagement for those long-range facilities and where that's that's employees within the elma school district community members people i think if we still have booster club parents on the call it would be booster club parents but we really want to have community engagement we're on our board meeting so jeff will be advertising that here real soon hey so
lots going on anybody have any questions or comments i'm just out of curiosity how was the attendance for the portrait of a graduate night we had about small group on our spanish speaking night and probably about 30. yeah with kids with kids in them with kids about 40. we had quality discussion we didn't have quantity but we had colleges yeah i think the participation was good we do you really want to put it out in the community though is you know communication's a dialogue so you know you know so we we're trying we're going to continue having moments for the community to come in and express what their concerns are and what their wants are you know it's not just solving problems but we also want to solve know where our direction is so when
we're solving problems we're solving problems with intention i would also comment that having attended on the first night i think that there's still some unknown in the community that really understand quite completely what this is that's going on so the more that this happens the more involved i think and then touched and engaged they'll become so and christy will be doing a board report on this work but you've met with recent graduates so we also did a meeting online as a meeting that was graduates that are with 10 years to talk about now that you are engaging this world beyond alma or elma high school you know many of you are still not how how did we set you up did you feel set up for success were there things that we could do better
and are there things that we did well that we can double down on but getting that feedback from recent graduates that are currently engaging in the world um giving us that fresh set of eyes saying like i really could have learned this so and then march 22nd is the next recent graduate meeting march 29th is when we begin bringing all groups together so that's where our change we're inviting our chamber of commerce we're inviting our recent graduates we're inviting our community members and our teacher group and all of our groups that have been doing this work kind of come together and start building this unified vision on our portrait of an alma graduate that's good stuff okay yes it is did i cover everything you mark you've been working hard and you told me you're
really really tired and we've been working really hard yeah when do you build chris everybody has been working hard but eric is working so we appreciate it though yes all right thank you okay uh student representative report me speaking of exhausting workbook good work we had ffa sub districts last night um and you know with the presentation um ffa has been something that has honestly changed my life um for the better i look forward to everything going to zero every day it's the best part of my day if anyone is even thinking about joining ffa please join ffa because it's one of the best choices that you can make in high school and it's definitely you know changed my outlook on a lot of things and i am really grateful for it for that um
but yeah we had our sub districts last night and it went really well all of our teams and individuals did really really well we all feel really good about how we did and you know now we're looking on the districts closer to the end of the month so hoping we'll do all that too spring sports we're in the second week of them now and games are starting to come up like softball we have our jamboree tomorrow um you know just another reminder again to take care of yourself because i know that sports can get really stressful um especially when you care about them so much and you know just making sure that you're taking care of yourself through that being kinder to yourself because you know i mean especially right now and just in general
school is hard and like doing things is hard and just you know living and being a person is hard and so just you know be a little bit nicer to yourself and especially around sports and stuff like that and you know just overall just take care of yourselves um we're almost to where it's gonna start getting warmer thank goodness because it was freezing today um yeah just take care of yourselves so that's all i have delaney how did uh districts ffa go yesterday um we had sub districts yesterday districts yeah um i personally competed in a parliamentary procedure which again exhausting workbook at work um it's a really like complicated competition but it's really fun that i think was one of the best runs that we've done and so we all felt really good about
it and then there was like job interview like employment skills and there's creed speaking and there's uh people do the creed in spanish too which is the coolest thing to listen to it sounds it's so cool um what else was there there was a uh middle school ffa yeah they did ccm um and then yeah employment skills was that it public speaking and yeah prepared and accept public speaking i could never do the people that do that are impressed me so much prepare you write six to eight minutes speech and you just give in front of people and extemporaneous speaking is you have like 30 minutes to research a topic that you pick out of like the hat basically and you give a four to six minute speech on it is that the right time
okay just checking i don't do that competition so i'm just kidding um yeah everyone just really impresses me with how they do it all that kind of stuff how did we place harley did first i don't think ccn had like a ranking order we had a lot of top individuals for employment skills um and then creed 2 i believe we pretty much place the top in most of things so good job i'm a i'm a hair competitive and even when i was in fbla my competition was impromptu speaking which is similar to extemporaneous speakers and that was my favorite event so and i did coach barley pro at fba carly pro team when i was done i have technically a certified proletariat so we'll see how that goes point of orders [Laughter] i love it
great thank you okay for tonight we'll go ahead and we are going to move into executive session about 30 minutes so we're going to review a performance of a public and play there'll be no action taken and once that's over um let's see what time is it 6 50. so at 7 20. we should be able to come back in and adjourn so thank you all have a great night and um friday's almost here there we go i was thinking about like presuming by almost done so if he decides a big fat now yeah it'll be and i'll it'll be interesting to see what they do for ipd also because they're really i make a motion that will adjourn the meeting second is
