i recommend the approval hire kate elliott for the alma high school assistant fast food fast festivus coach she worked under the direction of ashley stansel the head coach of the hs building principal bill opera and um jane o'leary the current athletic activities director peyton has been a summer coach along with ashley our ehs head fast food coach for the local team this previous summer faith is also an alma alumni and played on alma state when they came a few years back played college ball during that time she's proven herself to be a leader who enjoys working with and encouraging young athletes to be their best academically and on the field the references spoke well of her and she had great answers during her interview one thing that impressed uh me was her value of character

development and lifelong learning she also emphasized the importance of team bonding i recommend the approval to hire peyton elliott for the alma high school assistant facilities coach she would work under the direction of ashley's dance with the head coach the hs building principal bill oppelger and um and uh the athletic activities director yeah isabella um chris ellie as the athletic director i'd like to recommend the hiring of isabella izzy christelli as the jv fast pace fast pitch coach for alma high school because he's currently works for the album school district as our communication specialist and has coached boys and girls middle school basketball this academic year busy brings a dominant athletic background to our district she played regent level softball at george fox university and also wrote it the washington state university women's rowing team

that placed nationally for the first time busy has consistently impressed me with her ability to make everyone around her better her experience as a player and athletic coach would be a huge asset for our omaha high school fast food program i feel confident in recommending izzy for the jv coaching position because i've seen how she has established and maintained a positive atmosphere on her teams she has demonstrated support in diversity equity and inclusion and her abilities to coach with clear expectations and accountability additionally she is committed to supporting the head coach's philosophy providing instruction mentoring and competitive strategies please approve hiring izzy cristeli as the jv fast-paced coach for elma high school necessarily jane o'leary and last is eric hiles as the athletic drinker like to recommend the hiring of eric hiles as an assistant

track and field coach for elma high school eric is currently a teacher at the high school and has a positive professional rapport with staff students and our community eric turned out for track and field while he attended elma high school and has also been a volunteer for over the last 10 years i feel eric will be a great addition to the coaching staff for elm athletics and will be able to manage his time well with what is required for the physician he has a solid understanding and knowledge of athletic preparation and injury recovery i also like that eric will promote track and field in a broad range because he understands how the variety of different events can help athletes become better in other sports as well please approve the hiring please improve hiring eric hiles

as an assistant track and field coach for alma high school that is from jane thank you consent agenda although for the approval of the consent agenda i'll second it an emotion made and seconded is there any discussion i'll be abstaining okay go ahead i'd just like to know um a special thank you to chris for some outstanding coaching that he has done for the district so thank you for that thank you chris okay so there's been a motion made and seconded with the ryan uh board member cristela staining is there any further discussion all in favor all right discussion items there's social emotional learning we have miss belden and ms arnold thank you for giving us time this evening to share um lisa and i have been working on our distributorship [Music] is social emotional

learning i think everybody i don't know how much stuff to go into about that um i will point out izzy has created this fabulous letter taking the admission that lisa and i provided quite a talent um so this is available if you would like um can contact us to that um and it does go through what cell is uh the the structure that we're working with is castle it's the collaborative or academic social and emotional learning and so the circle at the bottom is the castle circle where it shows the five specific areas that we are wanting to help students gross to support their academic and their professional life beyond high school this newsletter kind of walks through the steps that we've gone through we started with cell through the castle process and then over

on the right hand side are the five areas within that and down at the bottom neural education mr nesmith introduced us to this organization really connects neuroscience to um to social emotional learning so it isn't all about the affective but it's understanding what what is behind our thinking when we do that and how is our brain affecting that the education through a neural lens dentist we bring that into the classroom there on page two looks forward to that um the intent is really to when we recognize where students or even ourselves are at as adults whether we are responding or reacting in any given situation and what that self-regulation and co-regulation uh that is required involves and it's just taking um and meeting students where they are we also do that as adults in any

given situation um and so this is really looking at what we're doing within our classrooms and using uh research brain science methodologies uh there are things like brain activities um they're quick little breaks that just new oxygen to the brain re-centers and refocuses and we're working with neural education to do that the second piece there is forecast five this is we're really moving towards uh data within our district which is fabulous and forecast five is the dashboard uh analytics tool and so we currently have i'm not sure exactly how many dashboards but we have academics we have activities involvement attendance office referrals those are all dashboards that forecast five already has built for us and with this we'll be adding through panorama survey it's a third party survey also castle approved and recommended to collect

information about students just social emotional are they feeling like they belong at school do they value school do they value what is happening in their classes and so they are completing these quick surveys that data then we can bring into forecast five compare it to their attendance their academics we can really look at the whole child as opposed to just on these extrinsic motivators if you will or or you know catalogs as representing that student but look at their social emotional and then we can build uh interventions and support systems and um and those additional types of activities that really meet where students are at so it isn't looking at the hardships of the students but also looking at the strengths of the students so that we are building the best possible programs to meet

their needs the next section is uh has been an ongoing the brain-based classroom um excellent how the human brain operates that was our summer institute session we actually had kiran come in uh it was a virtual zoom um he is wanting and and his team of champions that their champions are wanting to come back for our summer institute in person um which i'm really excited about we'd love to have them back we have been participating there's uh the lady who has been participating in our book study with uh kiran and his uh team they uh it's been about every two weeks that we read certain chapters out of this book and then there's discussion um through zoom on that so we've been ongoing with that and we have about six other staff members who have

also been participating in that book soon and then the bottom piece of that just walks through the brain and just what the different parts and that's an important piece for as we're wanting students to understand their social emotional and with the last implementation workshop that i participated in with the neural education they talked about just using simple children's books to help even adults understand how the brain works because i didn't study neurosciences some of these terms are a little new for me um and so this is just a wonderful strategy that they recommended for um getting more comfortable with and the better we understand how our brain works the better we understand how to co-regulate and self-regulate uh steps going forward um lisa and i have applied for a thirty thousand dollar grant with ospi

to support um castle approved curriculum and it comes with training for our staff so we've we've selected three different programs i'll talk a little bit more about those uh the cell panorama data view that's on the little screens there by the forecast five we'll take the survey data from panorama and uh we'll be able to import that into forecast five but we also can use the data specifically through panorama and they're providing teacher training on march 21st on our late start any of our teachers can sign up for that if they're interested in understanding the data and what's available and and just their students from a different perspective um beginning next school year we'll be able to take that cell data this is our base data bring it into the forecast five look at it

in the data cube with the other variables attendance academics and really see if there's one factor or other factors that we could do to improve students experiences the summer training that's offered um they are offering champion training so um that's just how to really implement the brain-based activities if we could get a few staff members uh teachers who are really interested in bringing this in or other staff members or um then we could start doing some training trainer kind of things and showing how this has influence within student engagement the uh the summer grant application uh stephanie euit recommended to us once earlier this year conscious discipline that is a castle approved one um it it sounds like it's more for assistant principles it is not it's very much an adult oriented changing the way

you're thinking and how you're approaching and whether you're reacting or whether you're responding to a situation and how to be proactive to um to keep the mindset so that it's a growth mindset and not a a child mindset of like a plan at my feet i'm not moving kind of thing um the other one is mind up it's for grace pre-k through eight again it's uh uh it's a an adult-oriented uh program they would go through training so that they can implement that within their classroom to have effect on increasing pro-social behavior and executive functioning skills those kind of things and then the other one is edu guide which is grades three through 12. we thought you know we've we looked at all of the programs that were available we have tried edu guide before

but that was when we were remote and so students were kind of left to their own device whether they chose to participate or not we have not used that we did not use that to its full potential with edu guide it's grades three through and it does provide complete lessons so that it saves teacher time and again with the three options it wouldn't be that the staff would do all three but hopefully one of those would fit their style and their personality so that they were able to adopt it and bring it in to their their classroom management and their structure and then we're in the process of summer institute planning and again um kiran is with neural education with um is excited with us to come back in and to meet with us in

person and share more specific strategies such as the the actual activities that you can implement it doesn't have to take away from the learning time in fact an investment with this of three to five minutes actually increase the learning time and that's where we're at with this any questions so the um it says here that so the kindergarten through second grade at start of the surveys yes okay and then the third i'm assuming it says 12. it's kind of it does okay are those surveys um uh voluntary for the older kids do they mean you've got a sophomore that says i'm not taking that they don't have to take it correct correct okay and we have sent out notification about the surveys and that they can call and opt out of it um this this

particular one it isn't invasive by any means it's it's a feeling when you you know um how often do you ask your teacher for help those kind of questions just to give us an understanding of what their learning style and their it's really about their comfort level with with the school with staff with their peers but yes they can opt out they can skip questions if they just don't want to answer it and how quickly are you getting that data back as soon as we close the survey it's and the pre-k it's actually kindergarten through second grade those are teacher perspectives so it's based on their observations that they're filling those thank you thank you i just want to say thank you i mean i love all the things that the district is doing that

this is my my fashion one if we had to pick one because i think it really is the foundation that everything else builds well often and it hampers the quality of everything else so i loved hearing um the potential of staff wide being trained you know because i think that there are so many non-teacher positions down i mean from coaches to our secretaries who are you know they're dealing with kids in lots of heightened states that um that feels like it would be a priority for the district to get as many you know as much of the staff trained as possible um but i'm excited and i really do hope that we can get some champions within the district to really take some leadership and roll with it i agree i really really like this

i'm excited to work with you guys more on it too i thought um most you all know we're in disneyland but my my my niece who benefits from a lot of the neural pieces she's having a very stimulated moment and all of a sudden she starts doing a b c and she was doing the alphabet with these touch points and i was looking it was one of the one of the five minute installs she self sued um from a strategy that she had learned i thought it was the oddest way of doing the alphabet but as i was reading it i'm like hey that was right in that book so i mean it really i mean that's pretty impactful that speaks volumes to um when kids can regulate themselves in that kind of a moment

so we're pretty um happy with the direction that we're moving we have different administrators leading a lot of our different you know strategic areas and this is you know each board meeting we kind of look at something whether it's something i'm being part of my evaluation or as part of the district strategic plan and tonight is one of the district strategic plan options on how is the illness school district going to target social emotional learning and a few of the beliefs we have as far as building strategic plan building a strategic plan is it's not like the notebook that sits like the binder that sits on a bookshelf and no one ever looks at again we believe in having a one-page strategic plan that really lays out the priorities of the elma school district and

then do we have data to measure it so wendy really spoke about how we're now collecting data for panorama and we're actually looking at cell indicators as a demographic profile like what cell indicators are actually impacting academic performance the most and how can we build out that data to really show what areas of need and what's having the largest academic impact upon students so that we've been much more precise on the services we can provide students as we start working through our neural education partnership so and karanomani is just a incredible friend of mine we were on a consulting project together so coming in and being able to call a friend and say hey um your new book is great you come in and work with our district and uh he was more than delighted

so um so i was just really happy to have a you know another you know being able to leverage those relationships and how they come in and they really work with us just something i was really happy about yeah for sure great thank you so much okay so we have discussion of procedure 3246 and 32 34 24. we just have a update in the procedure uh district updates procedures on um sorry i am bouncing on our pages we're on page four of eight okay so 3422 is an update on a procedure on um on our response and if you scroll down to page six of eight um it just kind of stipulates that we're no longer holding students face down to obstruct their breathing if students need to be restrained as becoming violent if or

to protect ourselves and on page four just talks about the use of restraint how we have trauma-informed crisis intervention the ability to de-escalate which really does align out to the neural education components that we just covered so that we do have de-escalation training as a top priority so i have a couple questions yes in regards to this um chemical spray in the definitions it talks about chemical spray pepper spray oc spray um the district does not have anything we don't have anything uh for chemical spray in district okay we don't retain chemical spray that's what i wanted to go in nexus yeah that caught my eye um and then i know it talks about the physical restraint physical force um it talks about the training how often [Music] is staff trained on yearly so um

yearly and actually we just did it with our kindergarten teachers a few weeks ago the former the trainer is actually a former athletic director as a sneak bridge is the actual trainer for insurance company so the training is mandated by our insurance company and it is ran by um through clear risk our uh risk management and our teachers are trained every year have to be retrained in de-escalation procedures and a lot of it is kind of self-protection procedures like when students are hurting themselves or trying to hurt others so every year write response certification needs to be renewed my head goes completely different when i look at physical restraining and i think in your life so i just want to make yeah i just wanted to make sure that when i see yeah when i

hear of physical restraints that we're not going to a level one defensive tactic we're taking a kindergartener down in our industries it's a bit different i know but also probably with for ryan's industry as well not even apples and oranges apples and grapes [Laughter] um so right you're the right mark yeah and there's there's some more extensive training that you get and then there's a renewal that you go through once you have the extensive training but it's not every teacher either it's teachers that would be the strategic teachers that would be placed in a place where like if we have a student in crisis that we would just go in and try to de-escalate and do room clears and make sure that everybody's standing safe so that that student doesn't hurt themselves or hurt others

in the do we have these trained staff in all the buildings uh that would be a good question for stacey i believe we do uh yes we have a month a few of the buses as well as drivers and monitors and each building knows who those people are educators there are teachers [Music] the only the last question i had was the post incident notification it says within 24 hours following following the use of restraint um parents would be notified why is it 24 hours um typically i don't know it's adopted as a boilerplate but i think it's like business day by buy into business or we generally communicate okay this is where i'm going is this the district have a i mean that might be what it says we do but in houses it's shorter

than 24 hours it's dramatically shorter okay most of the boiler plays most of this is going to be alignment with what the law requires that we do okay i'm just thinking as a as a parent if something was to take place with my kid i don't want to find out about it the next day and i don't want my kid to come home and say you know i was restrained today or whatever it might be um i would think that it would be okay it's definitely much much much sooner that's all i had and um most restraint procedures are [Music] in rooms where students can be a danger to themselves so it's um not traditional within the general population all right and new procedure would be 3424 this would only be adopted in response to

the board policy adoption so this is a new uh was the board policy uh coming out i'm not just i mean we're seeing it in the element school district but we're also seeing it state nationwide um is the increase of drug use of students um you know and it's really been kind of a known byproduct of students being at home and now you know their parents at work now coming back to school this would allow trained nurses to have narcan and and use narcan in the case of an opioid overdose to reverse the opioid overdose and then this would be the procedure on how our nurses would engage in that so the adoption of this procedure would only go with the adoption of the board policy and the policy is not out there yet this

is just kind of a preview of later in the agenda okay and is it only in nursing yeah we would only have our nurse exhibit it's only our nurse our nurse is the only person in the building trained to this isn't hypothetical what if what if your nurse is not there that day and it's needed we wouldn't be able to use it because we could only give it if someone's trained but without the policy right now we couldn't give it even with the nurse are you asking jamie because i think i'm late to the same thought is there an option to train a secondary person besides a nurse or do you need to have at least the credential of the nurse my understanding is you need to have that level of medical training uh to

give any type of medicine i think outside of like epipens but this doesn't give us the same leeway like we get as a neptune right because it's both intranasal and auto-injectable yeah this is much more this is currently much more restricted this is a new realm for school districts for carrying narcan so i think on first round it's exclusive to nurses for the time being because i personally you know our our local police are all trained in and by the health department came in and trained us all on it and i just think that at some point we definitely need you know our administrators should definitely be trained on it so we're not i mean in the presence of a actual opioid overdose then we're not we're not rushing around trying to find the nurse

there's always an administrator that's close by and administering the nasal is a very simple process so i would definitely feel more comfortable for our students safety and administrators also receive that training through the health department i agree i agree and totally investigate i think that all exists within the procedure so we can have that expanded within the procedure so if once the foreign policy is approved we can always update the procedure i think that's not yeah it's possible under training it says school-based health centers are responsible for training their personnel in the district would ensure each school there's at least one personal member who can distribute or administer the opioids so it doesn't even necessarily outline that it has to be just a nurse hopefully we have to fight freedom that will take advantage of

full responsibility i mean okay back in my principal days i had to be trained in field sobriety tests so that was by the washington state patrol so there's a lot of training for administrators i do think it is important that our for our nurses to be the ones to track the safe security of it and make sure that it's always because there are expiration dates on that product making sure that it's always you [Music] yeah we want a bunch of expired kids that's a great problem right to have to throw out and start again okay that's just discussion so anybody else have anything to add to that part of the discussion as we cover everything that we want to kind of see happen okay communications and comments do you have anybody from eto esp ecopa

admin persons to be heard or public comment register okay all right good news mr nissman mark do you want to do this good news for us sure so uh there's been a donation uh from merck and nina boyer they came and met with chris and i the other day and they're donating a thousand dollars and what they would like to happen is uh for us to highlight some of the citizenship words of the month that we use get some books for kids their original idea was to bring the books into the library that kids could see but we also have the student of the month so we're thinking about incorporating it somehow with the students of the month so that each student that earns one of those is student amount for let's say uh gratitude

gets a book on gratitude and they can a book that they can bring home uh and it kind of goes along with the social emotional piece that uh when wendy just got done talking about so we are just now investigating and we still have to purchase the books we got to find some books out there but we'll be able to find something put some time towards it but it's a great it's going to be a great project great thank you to merc when you guys get close um we did a fairly significant purchase for the daycare on this with some ecap funds last year and so i have some great resources to be able to share with you my wife we're ready for anything okay all right perfect okay and uh contact heather she's kind

of spearheaded okay how well thanks okay thank you uh new business approval for the board to authorize the superintendent to work with the stevens-clay law firm to have the school district join the pending vaping lawsuit against jewell altria and the success and the successor phil morris i don't feel like a mouthful so the stevens-clay law firm is the washington state legal firm representing a national uh national class action lawsuit regarding the over marketing we have a huge student use now of vape pens and e-cigarettes starting to become a serious management problem within it and this would be so this would just give the school district the authorization to begin joining in on that class action law firm lawsuit there's no cost to the district [Music] i moved for the approval for the ford dothraki superintendent

to work with the stevens clay law firm to have the school district join the pending vaping lawsuit against jewel and altria this assessor to philip morris a second is there any more discussion all in paper motion carries thanks for taking that one discussion and approval of policy 3246 restraint isolation other use of or some reasonable force first reading this would update the um the wax been associated with the uh restraint and isolation and reasonable force which also kind of carries over into the procedure that we spoke about earlier i moved for the approval of discussion or policy 3246 restraint isolation and other uses of reasonable force first reading i'll second it it's been emotion made and seconded is there any discussion all in favor motion carries discussion and approval to adopt policy 3424 opioid-related overdose

reversal first reading this would be the new board policy for the districts to carry narcan and related uh reversal supports i'll move for the approval to adopt policy 3424 3424 opioid-related overdose reversal first training an emotion made and seconded is there any discussion i just wanted to point out that looking at it it does show a school nurse but it also has the school personnel to become designated so and also listed the school nurse can be the person to do the training um as well but i still think it's responsible to have the health department come in and give us any of the updated latest procedure yeah whoever certified to surely train yeah okay is there any further discussion all in favor aye motion carries discussion and approval of policy 5400 personal leaves first reading

this just uh stipulates that's the stipulation under the governor's mandate kind of further identifying the employees that are out on unpaid leave um you know we have to fall in line with the governor's proclamation which this partisan won't be lifted and this portion of the proclamation won't be lifted on march 21st um chris do we think it is it is emergency population i mean do you think he will lift it after march because i noticed you know it's not a specific date it says the district kind of has the ability to leave them on a leave of absence it doesn't say you know like they only have a year or they only have yeah it doesn't say and i don't necessarily know if this is the new was the recommended policy um so um i

mean this is not one that we could need to adopt immediately if we wanted to see what happens with the governor's vaccine and you know what happens with the mandates and how these move forward and i'm okay with them leaving it vague right if we can if we have that ability to just as long as we're not stuck yeah as long as we're not yeah i have to you know say okay your 90 days is up here so if they leave it vegan we can keep it open what's the harm in what's the harm in not doing anything with it right now until we see what happens nothing we can just table that one yeah and they want to make a motion i'm i will uh move uh to table the approval of policy 5400

personal leaves first reading i'll second tip an emotion made in second is there any further discussion [Music] discussion approval of policy 54 10 holidays first reading this is with the adoption of under washington state uh the the recognition of june juneteenth on june 19th so do we even go to school well we don't but it will affect your full-time employees your 260-day employees and then thank you for that also it doesn't specify would we have to open up contracts again to look to see if this is a paid holiday or just a national um well we actually already have contracts open right now and the only contract that is closed has already bargained june as a contract okay okay so um we already have one bargaining group has who has bargained that as a holiday

okay and following the federal roof by the federal rights right so we actually don't have to do anything okay thank you so i'll move for the approval of policy 5410 holidays first reading i'll second that it's been a motion made and seconded is there any further discussion all in favor motion carries discussion and approval policy 62 20 bid or request for proposal first reading uh this just kind of uh clarifies some of the language on adding public works and non-federal through just some of the requirements for our um our own long-term facility work that we're engaging on to make sure that we're using that funding correctly it removes the state improvement grants kind of clarifies on what's local what's federal so this is just updated in accordance with uh the processes that we're moving forward

through in our long-range facilities and our price analysis work and i was updated with uh was the recommendation yes so this was a recommended update through wazda for the work that we're doing i make a motion for the approval policy 6220 the bid or request for proposal first reading i'll second it an emotion made and seconded didn't there need discussion okay enrollment all right our enrollment is still sitting above our budgeted enrollment rate um we're finishing currently sitting the year at about on an average of about 1488 students so um currently we have a i'm trying to find my aoe numbers we have a open doors enrollment of about 68.25 and we're actually seeing a big push of students that are in our online school coming back to [Music] i've been hearing that in the

community that there has been several kids that will be coming back we are excited to have them [Music] did our freshman number grow more do we have more yes we've grown in ninth grade we've decreased in 10th grade okay i mean i know we've had a high five oh no that's down okay i see never mind that freshman number blows my mind okay anybody else have any other questions about i think we're just acting like it's not there it's so big the co-op [Laughter] okay um budget report lisa at almost 1.7 we're doing a lot to utilize our s or many to help compensate in our fund balance the next one is your revenues it's just kind of the revenues by themselves you get a little graph on what we projected to bring in what

we brought in [Music] next one is the expenditures of the same [Music] the spreadsheet i used to do for you guys last year but this one is done in five um podcasts by dad by cast any questions on any of the reports one thing i'd like to really kind of point out is the work of um julie and jane through setting up our online school um that really did kind of you know that really did drive our enrollment changed our projection five million dollars so that really does soften where we thought [Music] we're still looking at sanding that option of learning to move to other outside our district we have a few things that we're not totally ready to present yet we have a few contracts that we need to finalize but um yeah the

upcoming goal is to have opened up for out of district students to receive services through our online school we feel that the new eagle sky virtual academy is a really strong you know educational resource for students both in district and uh we have a few options that we're not ready to talk about yet but we will be ready to talk about soon thank you lisa okay superintendent report well um i for starters i want to kind of announce uh it was really a great opportunity to represent the alma school district with three other states a superintendent from uh texas students uh mansfield texas just south of dallas uh collects the athens from new york kind of upstate new york and central county school district right outside of chicago illinois in the elma school district representing

on a lot of the new data dashboards that eric has been building on how we're measuring student success and achievement using kind of these data-driven resources on what drives post-secondary performance so we did our first round of data in october and in april we're going to show you a new round of you know kind of the closer to done model on what student data we have to really look at how we can provide services and supports for our students so being able to present on that was just incredible um i had lots of comments back from superintendents across the nation asking for how these data dashboards were built and how they can replicate so i was getting emails from kentucky and missouri and across the united states uh the first part of this week um

mark keating and his team uh and actually julie crawford and her team have launched the work on our mastery-based learning when i was gone on thursday they had their teacher teams together and began going through the mastery-based learning new learning management system the teachers who agreed to pilot and i really want to thank mark for his leadership on kind of working through that process the next team meeting is on march 3rd um and then yesterday christy kershaw and her team began doing the portion of the graduate work and last night met with recent graduates to talk about this is how my education in alma has supported me in the rest of my life these are some of the things that i really wish we could get more of and these are the things that would

have really helped me out supported me more as i began you know unfolding and my life's path began so uh we're happy to have about 20 recent graduates engaged in that open conversation we had about 100 surveys filled out from recent grads talking about you know this is how this is how i am doing in my life then on that march 2nd and march 3rd we are bribing everybody in our community with potatoes potatoes and toppings but we want as many people out for our portrait of the graduate portrait of the graduate is what is a successful element graduate really making sure that as a district we're clear on that vision and we could use as much help as possible getting anybody in the community there current students former students people who live in the

community people who pay taxes in the community have never gone to school here but just stewards people who have strong opinions we really do want to hear from our families view transparency is not a one-directional communication but transparency is a dialogue and march 2nd at the elementary school here at 6 p.m is our next portion of the graduate meeting and we're really trying to do everything in our power to get people in our community there to talk about what is best for our kids so march 2nd and whatever we can do next wednesday next wednesday next wednesday so that is my report thank you sir either one of those nights gonna have um more spanish speaking support march 3rd is fully in spanish okay and actually we have another portion of the graduate mark part

portion of the graduate meeting on march 3rd fully in spanish we have enlisted the support of ms karina brown at the high school actually i meet with her tomorrow as we go through what that would look like um she's just been an incredible resource and support where um she asks that i feel much more comfortable being able to run the meeting as long as we understand the the higher levels of that what we're going to go so we're going to be there uh we did one on january in spanish and we just had an incredible involvement of our speaking families thanks so march 3rd is fully in spanish mark's march 2nd is in english okay hey thank you fellaini good to see you good to see you guys too it's weird to be here in

person i've been to the elementary school library in so long and everything is so much shorter than i remember after the meeting i wanted to find the tile that i made in fifth grade yeah it's nice to be here in person and see everyone um so first of all i really loved you guys presentation on social emotional learning i'm really glad that i got to work with you guys on that and going to those books that these have been really helpful and especially seeing like the perspectives that you guys have on it just how much you care you know really means a lot especially you know because that's the whole reason why i wanted to be the student representative in the first place was you know to help students know that they're not alone and

that people are working to help them and make them feel you know like you guys really want us here and you know that just means a lot and then spring sports start next week and i just wanted to remind anyone that's trying out for spring sports or just any sports in general um it's about having fun you know winning is always really fun of course um but you know sports is supposed to be fun they're supposed to have a good time being with people that enjoy the same thing as you and really just kind of removing some of that pressure off yourself because i know um the community support is incredible and i know a lot of times um how incredible that support can be can lead to a lot of pressure um but just

know that they're behind you no matter what and they'll support you better lose and you know that's kind of who we are so yeah just if you're doing spring sports just know that there are people that support you no matter what um and it doesn't matter if you strike out or you know or anything like that so you know just have fun tomorrow the ffa officers are going to talk to the eighth graders about cte specifically but also just kind of high school in general because especially you know their last four-year school i believe was fifth grade and you know going into high school now for them has to be really scary but um you know talking to there are people working behind the scenes for them there are people that care there are people

you can go talk to um so i'm excited to just talk to them and have a conversation with them about that um next a couple weeks ago i had a meeting with mr smith and then i've also talked to miss kershaw recently um about a little project that i want to work on and i'm going to talk to mr ocular soon i'm going to email him soon and have a meeting with him about it but i want to help students kind of explore their identities more um in a way that doesn't feel like other people are pushing that on to them in a way that they can explore themselves and be with people with similar interests in a way that they can bond over those interests rather than kind of you know poking at those

interests that they don't share and you know making fun of it in that way so bringing them together rather than kind of pulling them apart is what i want to do so kind of doing that and then working with ms kershaw about um the portrait of a graduate work and you know helping students go from finding who they are and being with people who are also doing that same thing and have all those similar interests and going into what is it that you want to do like what is what you feel that your purpose is what makes you happy you know because um you guys all care so much about what you do and it really means a lot to us and you know just being able to do something that makes you happy like

that i think is really important and especially to show the kids that and everything and i have a sophomore who is really interested in the other student representative position um i don't know if she's turned on her application yet she said that she was going to this morning but she sounds really interested in the work and especially with the mental health area and i'm really excited to work with her um when she turns her application yeah so that's all i have thank you so much delaney we covered everything else i'll just say a quick little congratulations to our last season of sports that just wrapped up with all the girls and boys um all across the board um really good stuff and elma should be really proud of of what they've been able to do

this year so um our future agenda items are on the list if you have anything you want to talk about or be a part of go ahead and contact the district office and get your information in of course you can email or come on in and um i don't know if we have a form you fill out because i've never had to do that but you can visit the at the district office and everyone have a great safe weekend hopefully it gets warmer outside and we're gonna go ahead and move into executive session i believe for about 30 minutes um to discuss the review uh to review the performance of a public employee for 30 minutes no action to be taken back and give ourselves a few minutes to kind of get moved over so

we will begin executive session at 7 00 pm and we'll be done exactly at 7 30 p.m hey wendy what is this i have a question for your stuff helpful [Music] i'll second it is animation made and seconded all in favor all right motion carries it's needing adjourn that's his favorite one to do let me just kill his thunder plus he deserves you
