meeting to order. Please stand for the pledge of allegiance. >> Here uh approval of the agenda. I'll move to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve the agenda. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. Do we have anybody signed in? Blake, anybody online? Okay, we'll keep skipping that. Uh, next up isformational items. Uh we're going to move uh item A uh house middle school uh report from Michael Denny to the next meeting or a future meeting and we'll move on to the maintenance department. >> Am I on the wrong one? I have mates. Oh, that's the wrong meeting. >> Hold on. Let me get the right meeting. March. No, I don't actually. >> I got one. Okay, we'll move up to the athletic

department. Jackson around. >> I know he submitted a report. >> Mr. Gilman can text him and find out if it'll be coming. Maybe we can postpone. >> Okay. Well, we'll move on to item C is uh Spring Bake uh admin office hours, which is >> So, there's a sheet on your uh it should be sitting at your area that shows our spring break office hours. This will go out on um it's already posted on our door. It will go out on our social media and our parents square. I think Selena has a schedule for Friday. There's an emergency number in case, but the time is because of contraction. Those are the times that our employees have to be working on site. >> Okay. Thank you very much. Um, we'll move on to discussion items. Uh,

business and operations report. Drew, welcome. >> Everybody hear me? Okay. >> Yep. Perfect. So, I've got a few things for you guys tonight. Um, in your board packet, you guys have the updated budget status reports u for this month as well as your cash flow statement. Um, couple things on the cash flow statement that I want to point out. Um, payroll and AP came under projected this month again. So, great work there by AP department. That's about 85,000 under. So, um, we we were able to cut some expenses that we thought we might have. Um, and then payroll came in about $10,000 under the projected amount. So again, we're trying to make progress on the AP number as much as we can. We know payroll is pretty fixed monthto month. So um payroll is a

little higher this month since we had the winter contracts uh the state payouts this this month. So uh we did project that out but it still came under the the projected number. Um in your packet also you have the enrollment update and if you've taken a look at it we kind of updated what the enrollment packet looks like. um it used to have 10 or 12 different graphs and and whatnot and I kind of just focused it on three different data points. So the first sheet um has your K12 base enrollment and in there before TK was kind of included in there since it's its own uh funding program we moved it out of there kind of moved it down further in the sheet. Uh we've also split out your AL kids, open doors, and

running start numbers. So it's very clear that you can see what those numbers are and then what it is to the budgeted column on the far right there. Um so on that and then we move to the next sheet and we do a building breakout. Um I think it's nice to be able to see where kids are moving around um at the building level monthtomonth if you are losing kids or or you know gaining kids. And then the last sheet is just a comparison to prior years. Um, is there anything different the board would like to see on the enrollment report? Is this enough data, too much data? >> Yeah, I like it. I like the breakdown of each school. See how how it's changing there. >> Yeah, I think it's And then as we

get into the budget, too, it's it makes it easier for for me as I look at it building by building too to kind of budget. So, especially with the multiple elementary schools. Yeah, I think the updates to the charts are really nice. Um, unrelated to the data, one thing I I still would really love for us to do is we could have a survey that goes out to people when they're either as for some of these categories. I'm curious actually for both enrollments and withdrawals, like when people choice in or out of the district, why? Um, same thing with homeschooling, you know, like what's driving them to to choose to leave or to or to come when they don't need to. I think that would be really useful information to have. >> So, I believe

I believe that Selena when a student choices out, I believe when they choice in, they have to give a reason. So they're actually it's on the form, but there is a set list of reasons that are kind of set up on the form. There's about I don't know maybe eight of them they do things like uh financial implications, closer to work, um I can't even remember. I just looked at the list today. Um, but I can ask and see what kind of information Selena I don't know if she actually gets that other than on a piece of paper, not really as a collection like a survey. And I I'll ask her about that tomorrow. >> Yeah, I'd be interested to know what people's reasons are both coming and going. >> I know at one point

um we talked about like an exit interview. Um, and I thought >> she does that. >> I just can't I just don't know for sure. And I I think um you'll have to either get with Selena or Kim, but I know somebody was doing something of that nature to kind of get to some of those reasons that you're that you're >> I can get with Selena and ask her tomorrow. I know she's I can't I don't think she's out tomorrow. I know that she took some vacation. I think it's Friday. If if it's not, it'll Well, I'll have to ask her next week, but um and ask her and I can email the board and let you know. >> Thank you. >> Perfect. Anything else on enrollment before we move on? >> Um, as you

guys know, the legislative session ended on March 12th. Um, which is great. We knew there wasn't going to be a lot of movement and there really was no movement for our K12 districts. Um, there's a few things that we're still kind of waiting on guidance for. One of them is TTK. So, they did reduce the number of slots in TTK, but how it's going to affect each district is still kind of up in the air. So, um I know OSPI is working through that and hoping to have something out in the next month kind of what that guidance is. So, um LEA is another one. So, the local effort assistance funding that you get when you have your levy and you are at the $150 per thousand rate. Um so, we are seeing a an

$100 per student reduction. So, we we didn't get any help there either. Um, so that's just something to keep in mind for the 2026 um, calendar year. >> Drew, do you know if they're gonna um, will the will the TTK continue to be fully funded throughout the the balance of this year? >> Yes. >> Yep, it will for this year. >> Um, they are reallocating slots though across the state. So there are some districts who haven't used all the slots that they allocated. Um I think in our region I was looking at it we have like five or 10 districts that are five to 10 that are not using all their slots and we also have a handful that are have more slot more kids than they do slots and so they're funding those out

of you know levy or another fund and so they are going to reallocate those for proer it doesn't really you guys are right about your allocation I think you're within like half a student so there's not going to be any change there for you guys. Thank you. Um OSPI is starting to release some of their budget tools. Their big tool is coming out um by the 31st and that's where we can do our enrollment projection which gives us our state revenue projection for next year. So I'm excited for that to come out and we can kind of start playing with the numbers and kind of seeing what what that impact is. Um, and then I think, um, in conversation with Kim, I would like to do at least one if not two board work sessions

just to kind of get a feel for what you guys, you know, want to see in the budget. Um, kind of your priorities as well as just kind of make sure we're all on the same page about the budget this year. Um, I was thinking the first one we could do in May. What information would be helpful for the board to see at that time just so I make sure that I cover everything and I'll prepare everything that you guys need? And if you need time to think about that too, you guys can think about it and and email me or Kim um kind of with that information. So, I would at least like to run through the enrollment projection with you and kind of how we got to that number and kind of what

the state revenue was looking like compared to this year on that, too. But I'm open to anything else, too. >> Should should we add that for the next meeting or you come once a month, right? >> Yeah, we could do it um second meeting. >> Let's do the second uh let's do May. May. >> Yeah, do it in May. >> Okay, that's fine. Sure. >> Just so I have enough time to kind of make sure we have stuff prepared. So >> Drew, I think um for that conversation, it'd be helpful to have, you know, as much as you can a revenue projection kind of locked in so we know how much money we have to work with, right? >> Yep. >> Um and then I really I really appreciate when we can like isolate what

are our fixed costs or must pays. um you know take that off the top we can't really do a whole lot about it and then whatever is left hopefully something right um then we can prioritize >> yeah and I know one thing I really like to look at in the budget is what percentage of the budget is your staffing cost because for most districts it's between 80 and 85%. >> The closer you are to 85% the less you know wiggle room you have for your other things. So, um I don't know if we can have that by the end of May, but we can certainly try to have like a good idea where that might be. So, staff wise, anything else you guys would like to see on that? I'm going to have to do

some thinking and I'll I'll shoot you an email. >> Yeah, please do. Hey Drew, this isn't a question about um budget projections and what we I I would like to see. Going back to the legislative session, do you foresee any changes in funding for Proser School District regarding running start and the changees that were made in the legislative session? >> So I don't I don't know what your guys' running start. I don't know how many kids you have are that are at the max FTE at this point. Something we could certainly look at. Um so the max FTE right now is a 1.4. 4. That's going to be changing to a 1.3. Um, and it could go to a 1.2 depending on the millionaire's tax. What happens with that? So, if that gets enacted, I

think it's before the end of July or start of July, then it goes to a 1.3. If it doesn't, then it goes to 1.2. So, I we would have to look at the numbers of how many kids are at that max FTE currently and kind of figure out what the impact would be. And we can certainly do that. >> Oh, sorry. No more funding for summer running start. Correct. >> That is true. Yep. >> Will that start summer 2026? >> That will start summer 26. Yes. >> And will there be fewer in addition to the credit? Is there few they're going to cap how many students can be in Running Start? >> I don't know of a cap at this point. I just know of the the max FTE per one per student. >> Okay.

Thank you very much. Yep. Drew, would you mind just explaining what you mean by the max FTE and the 1.4 versus 1.2? What that means like to someone who doesn't know? >> Yeah. If you have a student who is full-time running start, but they also are taking a class or two at the high school, they could be over a 1.0 FD because they're taking more classes. And so, and then the summer quarter counts as like a 0.2 at this point, I believe. And so you can claim that summer quarter and get the school can get funding for that essentially. It's a pass through really. But um that's what the max FT is. Uh see uh the last thing I have is I've been looking at each of the funds. Um this is about the time

that I like to start looking at each of the funds and going through and seeing where are we in terms of budget to actual and in terms of expenditures. So, are we on track to be within the expenditures that the board had approved back on the budget or not? Um, and looking at this, I have three funds that I look that look like they're going to be over spent by the end of the year just based on projecting out costs and everything. So, one is the general fund, the other is the debt service fund, and then the third one is the transportation vehicle fund. Um, it looks like you budgeted for one bus and you bought two. So, what we'll need to do is do a budget extension at one of the board meetings coming

up. Um, probably in June would be a good time to do it. Um, because we'll have be able to estimate the rest of the year a little better versus doing it in May. Um, and so that has to get advertised just like a budget hearing would. So, two weeks in the the local paper. Um, and so we'll have to do that. So, that there is a public hearing that can be done for that as well. And so I'll prepare a presentation for that and bring that to the board and then there's a resolution to basically approve that additional expenditure authority for the remainder of the year. So it's pretty common for districts to do this. Um I think last year we had eight districts in the region do an extension in at least one fund.

So >> quick question on the general fund. you know, if if we're looking to increase the capacity of spending, um, what happens if we don't approve the extra spending that we can't spend, >> right? Yep. Can you, you know, as this progresses, can you outline exactly what those things are going to be that that we that we're potentially going to overspend? >> Yep. I certainly do that. And then one of the things I like to do too is give you guys what's the impact of fund balance, right? I mean that's because ultimately that's where you guys are looking at too is what is this going to do to our bottom line, >> right? >> Um and so looking at it, you know, we talked about food service and tech, their budgets were both way under

prior year spending. So those are two areas alone that we're going to have to address. Um and then I have a few others. So yeah, I can certainly put that together for you. >> Okay. Thank you. Yep. Yeah. And each one will have a little different capacity to it and I'll try to be very clear on, you know, the reasoning why we need this. So, um, I've done a few of these. I don't have anything else for you guys tonight. Is there any questions? >> I was curious on the um budget to actual analysis document. It looked like we spent about 125,000 more than on the cash flow. >> Um >> Oh, yep. As >> more than planned for the month. >> Uh February. >> Yes. >> But you mentioned that our um payroll and

AP came in under. So I'm curious >> for March. For March. Got it. And so I just got the payroll numbers today from Raul. He just processed. And then uh I got another number from Heather as well. So, I will do an update to the cash and get it out to you guys in the next week. Um, a portionment also came out today. And so, we were able to see that the K3 um changes that we made on the S275 report went through full funding there. So, that's that's money back in your pocket. So, um, if you look at it at the cash flow, the aortionment percentage was the same for February and March, but you've gotten got about 700,000 more this month than you did pri in the prior month that um the aortionment

at first line 3100 and that's due to the the K3 should be corrected. And then we'll see the remainder of that money come over the remaining months. So they split it out. >> Thanks. >> Any other questions for students? >> Thank you, Drew. I appreciate it. Lisa, do you have anything? >> I'm good. Thank you, Drew. >> Thank you. Thanks for appreciate it. >> So, Jackson Hawk is online. I He goes, "I was here." And I said, "Well, I think we called for you like in the first 20 seconds of the meeting, so maybe I don't know." So, he's he's ready. >> All right, Jackson. Go for it if you're ready. >> I'm ready to rock. Um, so I don't know if uh you have the sheet that I that I submitted with all the

numbers of all the sports programs from fall, uh, winter. >> Um, can you put that up on the screen, Blake, please? >> Can you put Jackson's report that's in the board agenda up on the screen? Thank you. >> Excellent. So, I'll kind of talk about how middle school. Um, our numbers are really good this year for fall. Winter one, winter 2, and spring kind of fluctuate a little bit these last two weeks just because of practices and whatnot. Um, but for our fall numbers, we have one football team, four volleyball teams, uh, two boys soccer teams, uh, cross country program of 10 athletes for a total of 105 uh, student athletes for the fall for Hen Middle School. And then for winter one, of those don't know what winter one sports are, so we have

dance, uh that's nine. Uh girls wrestling, we had 11. And then boys basketball, we had four teams with 45 kids on it. So we had 65 athletes for winter 1. And then winter 2, boys wrestling, 30 athletes. Girls basketball, we had four teams with 40 girls and then a total of 70 athletes. And then spring, like I said, those numbers could be a little bit higher now that we now that we had practices and some kids join a little bit later. Uh, but baseball, we have two teams with 39 athletes. Fast pitch, we have one team with 17. Girls soccer, we have two teams with 45 girls. And then track, we have 39 athletes for a total of 140. And so that kind of puts our year- end total at 380 athletes uh for Howen

Middle School this year. And for high school, a little bit I'll go a little bit more in depth um of kind of districts and kind of postseason accolades that we that all of our students and coaches received this past uh fall winter and hopefully we get some in spring as well. And so cheer, our numbers were we had 17 girls for football cheer, cross country, we had 12 boys, 13 girls. Uh we qualified for state and two girls made it to state as well. Uh volleyball, we had three teams, 33 athletes. We qualified for state I mean qualified for districts. Um girls soccer we had two teams 45 athletes and we qualified for districts as well. And then girls swim we had 17 athletes and all 17 qualified for districts and 10 qualified for state.

And our girls placed 11th at state. And then football uh seven uh two teams JV varsity 70 athletes and we made it to the round of 16 for state. Um so we did pretty well this past fall. And then winner, we had 13 cheerleaders. Uh basketball teams for girls and boys. We both had three a piece. Uh boys and girls both qualified for BA uh districts and our girls ended up second place in the state title game. So that was super cool to see. And then boys swim, we had 24, which was a huge number this year, which was super cool. Uh we qualified for districts and we sent 12 uh state competitors for boys swim and they and they finished eighth at state. And then girls wrestling, 23 athletes. Uh many if not all

qualified for districts as well. We had five state qualifiers and we actually had our second place finisher which was Alexa Carrasco. Um and then boys wrestling 32 athletes qualify for districts, eight qualified for state and our team placed third uh oh sorry we had one athlete that placed third overall at state uh for 148 athletes for winter. And then spring participants right now we have two baseball teams, 27 kids. Uh, boys soccer, two teams with 50. Boys golf, 19, which is a super cool number. Uh, we have a lot of boy uh, golfers this year. Um, girls golf, we have five. Fast pitch, two teams with 25. Boys tennis is also up with 17. Girls tennis uh, around 41. And then track 94 with 52 girls, 42 boys totaling 279. And then our year-end total

for all of our athletes was 634 athletes that competed this year. And then just some highlights uh real quick from fall and winter. Um defensive player of the year for the SEWAC for girls soccer was Dedra Phillips. Um like I said, our boys football team qualified for the round of 16 in state. Uh girls swim 11th at state. Two girls across country, Elizabeth Norris and Iris Loner. Uh SEWAC coach of the year for volleyball was Lacy Martin. And then SEWAC girls soccer coach of the year, Jesus Silva. And then winner, our girls basketball program got academic state champs with a 3.872 GPA, which is awesome. And then our SEWAC uh girls basketball also got league and district champs. First time since I think uh 2010, I think 2010, 2011. And then they also finished second

place in the state title game. Uh boys swim, eighth place overall in state and seven state placers. Boys wrestling ninth as a team and three state placers. uh girls wrestling, second uh state placer, Alexa Krasco, and then all league uh conference selections for fall and winter. Two cross country, 11 football, four girls soccer, five volleyball, uh girls basketball, five, boys basketball three, boys wrestling six, and girls wrestling one with a total of 37 athletes who made all conference selection. And we also had Herby Wright that got 2A girls SWAC player of the year. And like I said, two coaches of the year, girls soccer, Jesus Silva and volleyball, Lacy Martin. And so I thought we had a really successful um year uh for fall and winter, not only at the middle school, but also the

high school. And you can kind of see that from all the accolades that our uh coaches and our athletes earned this past uh fall and winter. >> Thanks, Jackson. Any questions for Jackson? >> I do have one. Um, do you know if if our numbers are up flat or down for >> um for spring our numbers are lower? And I'll say that because we had a really heavy senior class last year that played multiple we had a multi multiport athlete class last year. Um, but I think those numbers are going to go up for sure next year because our eighth grade class has a lot of multiport athletes as well. So I think we'll even out back to what we were last year. Um but we did have very large senior classes last year from

track having I think 18 plus. Football had more than 10. Um volleyball, girls soccer had about 10 as well. So um it was a heavy uh senior class last year. And you can tell um that we're a little bit down this year, but next year with those incoming eighth graders, uh we'll probably be back to where we're at from last year. >> Great. Thank you. >> Welcome for Jackson. >> Jackson. Well, thank you. >> Thanks, Jackson. Appreciate it. >> You're welcome. >> Moving on to discussion items, legislative priorities. I know I've I've kind of talked about this a couple times. I guess I just I haven't had a lot of feedback or a lot of responses from other boards um you know, throughout the valley. Um, I'm still trying, but just wanted to know if

this is something that we as a board want to continue to move forward and I'll continue to push it. Um, you know, is it something we want to go on by ourselves or just kind of let it go for for the time being? So, I' kind of like to get a consensus if if that's at all possible. I think it's I think it's definitely something. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I would agree with that. I think we need to try to um join together with other districts as much as we can just just to um maybe have a better voice, you know, Olympia. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I mean, I think there's a lot of things that could be important, right? So, it's probably a good idea as a board for us

to pick our top two or three. >> It's more makes more sense to try to bite off a couple things, right, than everything. >> Um, so I think even if it's just us as a board just to identify what our top two or three priorities would be, it's probably a good piece helpful exercise. >> I think it's always helpful if we can get legislator, you know, representatives there and um like we did at the meeting in Grand View. That was very helpful. And then you've got you've got those connections. >> Yep. Okay, Lisa. >> I think I think it's a good idea and just kind of see how it develops and see what happens. >> Okay. Thank you, students. Okay. Um well maybe we'll try to do like a work session where we or discussion

topics where we we want to bring um you know a couple items individually and we can kind of hash them out here at the board um you know at a future meeting and then we'll just kind of be prepared once we agree on one or two items or whatever and then uh you know then we can contact you know some legislators or whatnot and see how it plays out. Does that work? >> Sounds good. >> Okay, thank you. Uh, next up is student rep reports. Ezrey, >> um, the band from PHS, I think a few of them are going to Disneyland over spring break, which is pretty exciting. Um, when we return from spring break, FFA is hosting Grizz Farms, which is also pretty exciting. Um, I also had the opportunity to attend The Great

Gatsby play, which I thought was really impressive. I think actors and actresses did a really good job. And then lastly, FFA just had one of their members elected to be a district officer, Emily Stafley. It's exciting. >> Um, I don't really have much today. I know Hosa hosted a teddy bear clinic yesterday and Sammy, if she was here, could probably talk a lot about that. Um, but from the pictures I saw, I think it went really well. Um, other than that, I'm just excited for spring break and I think everyone is >> only imagine. Any questions for board reps? >> Thank you. Uh, next up is action item action items. First up is FCCLA National Star Event Competition. Okay, how about now? That's better. Sorry. Um, so I'm Hannah Perkins. I'm the FCCLA adviser over

at Hel Middle School. Um, we are well, we've earned the spot um for three kids to present at um nationals. Uh we also have our first state officer ever. Um, so she was elected in as the region 8 vice president. Um, and so nationals is our next step. Um, we are asking the board to approve us to go. We've already started fundraising. We already have $1,000 from PH. Um, and then AG West is planning to um, send us the money as well. Um, it's would not be asking any money from the board. Just asking approval to be able to take the students and have them represent Proser School District. And this is um sorry I know you have it in front of you. I my brain's gone because conferences um but this is July 5th

through the July 10th and it's in Washington DC. Um more background too on them. So um Carly O'Brien earned gold at state. Um so that's the top in the category um for um anyone from the ages of sixth grade to 9th grade. And um so she earns the top spot. She's our national qualifier um in profession not professional sorry there's too many projects public um public policy advocacy. So she's actually been working with um our food services to work on new programs. And then we have um Harper Park and Evelyn Slaw who um earned silver um again in the same level one category for sixth grade and eighth graders and they got the second um position basically second place um to present on professional presentation and so they did um a project in the middle

school to advocate for self-help for the students. So teaching them ways to cope with that. Um and then we did have uh four other students present. um they just didn't make it on to nationals, but we had some really good projects this year and that's the most I think we've had present um at state since I've been here at least. Well, actually I'm the only one that's done FCCLA, so yes. Um but yeah, so we're just asking that ability to be able to travel um this summer to let them present. >> Any questions for Hannah? >> Yeah. I don't have questions, but you know, I was there chaperoning and um I was so impressed with I mean, I continue to be so impressed with FCCLA and what the program has to offer and I was

really excited to see so many more students come this year than last year. You're doing a really great job growing the club. Um and also really cool that we have our first state officer. >> Um so congratulations to Harper on getting that. Um, but anyway, I just I also got to um sit in on the culinary arts competition which is for the high school level and that was really cool. So, I'm hoping to see our high schoolers maybe get involved in that. Um, they cook a like a three course meal in an hour and they have professional chefs there judging them. Um, if you like watch cooking shows, that's kind of what it was like. >> Um, but anyway, I just I think you're doing a great job. >> Thank you. I move to approve

for out of state travel for FCCLA National Star Event. >> I'm not sure. I think rain. >> So, it's been moved and seconded to approve out of state travel for FCCLA National Star event students. All those in favor signify by saying I. I. I. Motion carries. Thank you, Anna. >> Thank you, guys. All right, next up is Froster High School Prom 2026 and graph and I'm here on behalf of prom. I am one of the co-advisors along with Lacy Martin. Lacy is doing conferences right now so she couldn't be here. Um so we are just looking for approval for our venues and the um the various services that are being provided or consultants for prom. So our prom venue is um country gardens out on Byron. It has been held there in previous years past.

um are we have a DJ that has been highly recommended by several people within the community that is coming to us from Tri Cities. We also have Mrs. Applegate who has done pictures in the past and she will be there providing professional pictures. And then we also chose to go with a photo booth as well. It's the same photo booth that we did last year at prom. So fun little like things to dress up with and it provides you with a print out of about like three pictures right then and there. >> Do you need questions? >> We have two of our prom committee sitting on your guys' board too and we're really excited. So, >> well, I move to approve uh the Proer High School Prom 2026. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved

and seconded to approve the Proer High School Prom 2026 students. >> All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. And if anyone's looking for anything on May 2nd, we're always looking for shopper rooms. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> All right. Next up is the new ProEer High School courses approved by the district instructional instructional materials. >> Uh so this is the final step in approving new courses for any of our usually it's middle school and high school. There's four courses that were proposed. Uh floral design, which is a CT course. We used to have a floral design course, but we haven't had it for several years. Um, so then um a new a really new course, physics um 103, which is a college and high school course. The physics

of musical sound is actually a science course. Um and then in music, there's two, the history of rock and roll, which is a CWU college and high school course. And we have a club that's been operating for a while, a mariachi club. And um we're hoping to offer a mariachi class. It's very there's a lot of student interest in that. And that was a course that I emailed you about that there was a note because we're concerned about instruments. Instruments are very expensive. But Mr. Norris working his magic has instruments on hand that we'd be able to use uh to get us started and then hopefully down the road be able to purchase some of those as well. Maybe some of those cool um I don't know outfits they wear. >> Like the Grand View.

Aren't >> those cool? Yeah, it looks so good. >> Um, so those are the courses that were proposed. The committee approved them all and so I bring them to you for approval. >> Have a question and it's not related to really these classes, but do we do an like an audit every so often, every other year, every year to figure out the classes that we brought in, you know, maybe in certain times that aren't getting the students that they used to get. So, it's that's pretty easy because they do course requests every year. And so, um, what they'll do is they'll try to offer a course. If they don't get enough interest, they may try to offer it again. They may pull it off for a while. Sometimes it also is a matter of schedule,

like we can't fit it into the schedule. Um, and so, yeah, there really is data around the courses because if they put on the schedule and not enough kids ask for it, then it's not one that would maybe be of interest. the courses are normally proposed by the department or perhaps by a teacher. Um, some of these, like I said, the college and the high school are ones that, you know, they like we have a history of jazz one. I think we've had in the books for a long time, but we've never offered it. There hasn't hasn't been interest. So, it probably hasn't even been put on the course request for quite some time. So, yeah, it it's straight up based on what kids ask for. >> Yeah. >> Any other questions for Deanna? >>

Is it the requirement that there has to be 15 kids to make the any class go? It just depends on the course because like our HOSA class does it can't can't go to 30 kids. It's a smaller class. So some of our CTE or some of those specialized classes are purposely small but like a traditional um you know class that could have you know 30 kids in it. U 15 would would probably be a minimum that we'd want in the class. And you know sometimes we have a year where we're starting a new class that we're really trying to promote. for instance, a higher level math class. It might take a little flexibility for a year so we can get more kids into the class the next year. Um, but yeah, that would be there

just isn't space in the schedule to hold classes that don't have a lot of, you know, a full class or close to a full class. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> I would move to approve the new ProEer High School courses approved by the district instructional materials committee. Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve the uh new Proster High School courses students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carries. Thank you, Deanna. Uh next up is out of endorsement staff. >> Okay. So, we did this at the beginning of the year for teachers we had hired. Um we um we have one out of endorsement and we have some emergency searchs, but these are people that beads that have filled in or been long-term subs. Jessica Summers happens

to be the person that we hired to fill the resource room position for the remainder of the year for the open position. She um will have her um certification done in May. Uh but Jessica and then you'll see the next one's emergency subs. They're all basically long-term subs. Any questions for Deanna? >> I move to approve the out of out of endorsement staff. >> I'll second it. >> Been moved and seconded to approve the out of endorsement staff students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. Next up is emergency certificate staff. >> Same idea. There's quite a few teachers that we have that emergency search that did long-term stabbing. Some of them you can see like Elda Gizar, she's done STEM resource room and she will be doing art

here soon and we have to do that if they do 20 consecutive days or more is required by the state for your approval. >> Any questions for Deanna? A move to approve emergency certificate staff. I'll second. >> Been moved and seconded to approve the emergency certificate staff students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. Thank you, Diana. Next up is the second and final reading of policy 3115, students experiencing homeless enrollment rights and service services. So, no changes since the last meeting. >> Any questions? >> I move to approve the second final reading of policy 3115. >> I second it. >> Been moved and seconded to approve the second final reading of policy 3115. Students, >> all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carries. Next

up is vouchers. Any questions on vouchers? >> I'll move to approve vouchers. >> I'd second it. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve vouchers. students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. Moving on to consent items. I would like to pull item B for a separate vote. I think it's the right one. >> Um, so I would move to approve items A, C, and D. Second. It's been moved and seconded to approve items A, C, and D. Students, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carries. Moving on to consent item B, classified personnel. >> I will. >> Thank you. >> Oh, go ahead. I'll move to approve classified personnel B. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve um inside item

B. Students, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carries. That concludes our action items for tonight. Moving on to reports. First up is Director Grants, Mr. Kevin. >> Yeah. So, uh, we still working on, uh, summer school, finalizing dates, uh, looking at different curriculum to use during during our summer school. Uh, we finishing up the WEDA assessments. We're getting ready to ship those back, uh, tomorrow. Um, Diana will like that because we'll get the boxes out of our office. uh we started um a multi-ingual program evaluation looking back at all of our services that we provide to our bilingual students through the dual language program and also in our mainstream classrooms. Um we started that today and then the next step will be uh forming a committee of parents and students

to u look at the program and come up with a u program plan which then will come to you guys for approval. our MTSS team. Uh we're are gathering baseline data for one of our non-negotiables under academics is targets and success criteria at classrooms. So we for the last month have been gathering that data at every building. We'll have that finalized probably uh the week after spring break uh just to see where we are at with targets and success criteria. And then today I participated at the salmon summit um at Crawford Park with second graders. I had a little session on watersheds. So fun see the little kids and uh it was a beautiful day out there. Any questions for Kevin? >> Thanks Kevin. >> So I have a second great granddaughter who was feeling

a little sad about the salmon being set free. She told her mom a couple days ago she was going to ask her teacher if she could just sit and watch the salmon for a while. She wanted to, you know, have a moment to say goodbye. But she I got a picture today. She looked pretty happy. So hopefully that went well. Um very fun for the kids though. Great activity. Um well, my phone went to sleep, so let me wake it back up. I did participate actually Kevin as well. There was a group of us from the district that attended the Boys and Girls Club breakfast uh they had the other day. It was a great turnout. It's always a great to um see and hear from you know youth of the year Zebie who of

course former former student of mine as well as um a former youth of the year who always represents the club really well. There was lots of community there to support um the club. Uh we had gifted uh referrals and screening. We this is the largest number of referrals we've had in many years and our screening process. So, we we've implemented a twice um like twice in your career screening, we do a second grade screener and a fifth grade screener because you shouldn't be identified at gifted only because maybe somebody noticed and filled out a form for you. So, we have quite a lot of students will be testing from the gifted screener. Um probably more than maybe we're over testing a little, but I'd rather test more and and uh not miss students that might

qualify and be a part of that program. And then uh we are we did just get our report back on our program review. So we had a very large program review. All of Kevin and I's programs some fiscal um CTE. Uh it's uh used to be every five-year process. When COVID came, it kind of threw threw it off a little. So we haven't had one since 2019. Kevin and I had a um post first submission meeting um on Monday and they gave us really good feedback and said that we did a really good job. Of course, there's things that we have to do. There's a few things that weren't in place like the little bit that little update for the homeless policy that's done. We just have to upload it. So, we have a handful

of things we do a second upload and then they let us know if there's anything um else that we need to do. But, they gave a lot of good compliments and said we've done a good job with that. also saw some other districts uh the other day, Tuesday, and uh their comments weren't as uh good as ours. So, they're having to to resubmit quite a few things and um that their meeting wasn't as short as Deanna Diana. >> Ours was pretty short. And I'll just say that um Kevin, this was a little trial by fire because it is a lot of work. It's actually not as bad as it used to be. we were working in our storage area and he opened a cupboard and he goes, "Is that what you said?" There was 15

binders up there that were this thick of stuff. I go, "Yeah, that's what you used to have to do. Now it's all electronics, so we don't have a bunch of binders." Um, other than that, I think that's all I have. Thank you. >> Any questions for Diana? >> Thank you. >> All right. Um, no superintendent report. Um, Kim is on vacation. Uh so she'll provide something at the next meeting. So moving on to board uh reports. Michelle. >> Okay. Well, I already talked about going to the FCCLA state leadership conference. Um so that was a great time. I also saw The Great Gatsby and I thought the theater did a really good job there. Um attended the monthly Thrive meeting. Deanna came and um talked a little bit. Uh that was very informative I think

for for the group there. And then we also heard from um a guy from the DEA. I think he was he's in Seattle and he spent quite a while talking to us about just um what's going on with drugs in the community, what what's kind of hot, what to watch out for. Um it was more geared towards adults and not necessarily a presentation you would give to the youth, but um really informative. And then um lastly, I've just been thinking a lot about um you know, all the good things that are going on in our district with students and staff and community partnerships and um so many of those things don't ever really get recognized, you know, unless somebody happens to bring it up in a board report or students bring it to attention. There's

just so many good things going on that don't get recognized. And so I was really hoping as a board we could take a look at how we could find a nocost way to just recognize those things. How do we collect um feedback from people and find out, you know, what's going on that's good and maybe there's a way that we can we can recognize people as a board. So I'm hoping that maybe next board meeting we can put that on the agenda as a discussion item and talk about how we can do that. >> Thanks Michelle. Appreciate it. Right. >> Uh not much. Just um hoping the uh end of the week here finishes off well for the district. Um hoping that conferences are well attended by students and parents and uh just hope that

everybody has a great great spring break, safe spring break. Um and get ready for the final push here. It always seems like this part of the year flies by and graduation is here before we know it. So, hope you guys enjoy spring break. >> Uh, not much. Just um I I agree with Michelle. We just I think um it's really hard to to show appreciation in the ways that that we really need to and we forget to do that. And um you know, just the more we can do that, I think it just builds it builds so much teamwork and and um camaraderie and just you know, unity in our community. So, uh, I would like to see more of that as well. And, um, looking forward to getting this budget figured out this year

and, you know, get get the right numbers so we can we can really get try to get on top of this. >> Exactly. Thanks, Frank. Lisa, >> um, I also attended The Great Gatsby on Saturday night and it was just so well acted, so well done. Congratulations to the cast, the crew, the directors. um attended the Boys and Girls Club breakfast which was a great turnout. I did have a nice message I received from another mom in the community and I shared it with Kim and Brian. I was going to read it and it's brief but look it starts out a little rough but it gets better. Okay, I'll be honest. So many people talk about how bad our schools are in Proser. I'm sure there are issues, but the teachers and some of the

programs we offer are simply amazing. And that small town feel which gives students opportunities they may not otherwise have with a huge student body is pure gold. I wish there was a forum to tell people. So I'm perform basketball program top notch honors English is an incredible class teaches kids so much. Mr. Akin and Mrs. Hoy just wow. Um I also wanted to give a special shout out to Mr. Akin Saturday night during The Great Gatsby, the sofa which was on rollers to come in and out that something in that mechanism broke early in the first act and then Mr. Akin um carried the sofa out um I don't know at least a half a dozen times for the rest of the play. So kudos to him and thank you so much to the mom

that sent that nice message. >> Great. Thank you Alisa. Um I don't have much. It's been kind of whirlwind uh these past few weeks, but uh you know, I appreciate again what you know what what we do as a school district staff, you know, the hard work you guys put in. Um and it's tireless because of, you know, some of the where we're at financially and some of the other stuff. So, I really appreciate everything that everybody does, teachers, paras, you know, everybody. So, um students, have fun at spring break. Enjoy your week off. It'll be f probably faster the fastest week of the year, right? So anyways, uh so future meeting we our next meeting will be April 8th held right here at 6 pm. Uh this meeting's adjourned. Thank you.
