All right, we'll call this meeting to order. Please stand for the pledge of allegiance. Next page here. >> Approval of the agenda. >> I make a motion to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve the agenda. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. Uh, do we need to do the roll call? >> No, just so everybody know that's where the at this time is where the secretary on video, >> but we can't get this off the agenda. It's one of our new things. >> Okay. >> Nice. >> All right. So, first up isformational items. Uh, the admin office Thanksgiving break office hours. traditional um dates just notifying the public and everybody hours at the district office because as as we know no school
that week so we have to make sure everybody knows when we're available. >> Thank you. Uh moving on to discussion item A is Keen River View. Uh Miss Wilson. >> Oh. No, you said >> green. >> I think there was one. >> Um, okay. I have a few things just um a few things have been going on at KRV. The first thing is I want to talk about our art and music program, the arts classroom. Um, Taylor's done a fantastic job kind of getting that kick started. has done some great art that is presented in our hallways and um for conferences I asked her I was like hey it'd be pretty cool to like have some art displayed down the main hallway. So she did this like art brush flow of all these kids' watercolors
through um coffee filters and so every kid's name is on them and up in our hallways and the parents just loved it. So it's been great. Um, they recently just transitioned over to music and focusing on a winter concert. So TK, Kinder, first, second, we'll all have a winter concert on December 9th or December 16th. So they've been working on that. And um during our we had the science center here last week, I think it was um which was fun. and they got to do an assembly and this is kind of off but the assembly was playing I don't know some kids song and all of our little kids were sitting there just sitting in their seats singing along to it just kind of rocking and I was like how cute is that like they
were so excited to just and they were so calm about it no one was getting crazy um and I just thought that was fun to see their like joy of music and their their joy of the arts so it's been it's been great um then the science center. So, they came, they did an assembly. Um, I don't know if they did the same assembly at the other schools, but the cool part of the assembly, sometimes it's kind of over our kids' heads, the science that they talk about, but right at the end of it, they shot off a rocket in our gym. And so, the kids were like so ecstatic about that. They loved it. Um, and they, you know, talked about it and stuff. And then each classroom had a workshop. So, they had
one of the science center um teachers come in and do a little workshop in there. And a couple of them I saw they were building um like these little cars, they Lego pieces, similar to Lego pieces, but had to build a car and carry a heavy block from one point to another point. Then they got to go back and redesign their thing and then retest it. And then he had a couple different challenges. So it was super cool to see the kids participating in that STEM activity and doing that work and they loved it. And then in the gym they had different exhibits set up. So there was probably like eight different activities that the kids could come go in and it was just kind of a free explore at that point. So they could
go in and just kind of free explore all the different things. Um one cool thing and they had batteries and a light and they were like building a little circuit. And so I mean it's fun to see like the TK kids um engage in that all the way up into our second graders. So that was fun. So I and I um I think that was paid through from like our lap or title 4 and it was great. So we want to thank Diana for that. And then um today my bilingual teachers worked with a new ARC coach and so they were working on just aligning their work through our K2. So Wit Strand was in with um our KRV teachers and I went in at the end of the day and actually thought the art
coach was online and the screen was blit so I didn't even like pay attention to who was in there and then they're like hey you have to come meet her. So, um, anyways, I was meeting her and she just said, "You guys have a fantastic group of teachers and they've worked so hard today." And that truly is like our bilingual teachers are all of our teachers are amazing, but my bilingual team um has worked so hard and they just have this like belief in kids that they can do it and they want them to succeed and come out bilingual and biterate and they just work so hard at it. So, I'm proud of the work that they're doing and continuing to align that work with um Witstrand and just really pushing those kids as we
get better at our whole art curriculum. And then the last thing is is my teachers are just continuing to work on their math alignment um around standards assessment. What are we doing with that? and um our PLC have really been pushing our teachers about like when we're assessing kids and we find out they aren't meeting standard, what are we doing about it and where where what kind of activity activities and things are we doing to give the kids? And so they've really taken a lot of time to look at their small group math time and we've done a lot of work around that last year and into this year and I've had a lot of teachers come up to me and be like, "Oh my gosh, this is so much better. Like I can do
this work. The kids are excited about it. We're putting engaging activities out in front of kids so that they're could independently engage while teachers can pull back kids and really focus in on what students need. So, it's been good work that they've been doing. And that's all I really have. You guys have any questions. >> Any questions? You named a couple dates for the the music thing. It was a December >> December December 9th is I just screenshot it because I knew one of you were going to ask me this and I wasn't going to have it. So, >> I just pulled it up and screenshotted it. Um December 9th at 6:30 at PHS main gym is first and second grade. And then December 16th, 6:30 at the middle school is TK and Kinder. So,
we had a hard time because we don't really have a facility that can host our whole school at one time. Um, and even the first and second grade group that's about 200 students, 220 students or so. And yeah, so that'll be a big group of big group of family that's there. But yeah, >> yeah, I'm excited for it. Both of my girls, I have a kinder and a first grader. And then we have to listen to all these hot chocolate songs and winter songs and come sing with me and they make me play them on in the car all the time, but they're excited about it. So, it's it's super fun. >> Great. Thank you. >> Yep. Thank you. >> Appreciate it. >> Next up is maintenance department director Andy H. >> Good evening everyone.
evening. >> So, this is just a kind of a snapshot of the last couple months. Um, we got the rock almost all finished at the high school in the islands. There's one more little tiny one to do. That'll be Thanksgiving break and then we're going to go from there. I believe we're going to get the uh the one at Heights will be the next one and around the water box at Heights will be final one for Thanksgiving. uh winter break we will move over to uh KRV. There's numerous ones there. I don't remember exactly, but they're they're all either there's no entry or exit for the for the lawn mower, so you got to jump a curb or they're small cars. They're just issues with all of them. Uh so we went through and nuked
them. Uh and we're just going to put fabric down, you know, mow them short short fabric, fill them with rocks. Uh the water went off early this year. I don't know uh probably the fir end of the first week of October. So we already have everything shut down and blown out already. Um we were done I think by the end of the second week. Um so all of our ice melt is already ordered and in stacked on the on the shelves. Uh we're going to do snow blades probably tomorrow, Friday and next week and they'll all be done. They would have been done this week, but had guys sick and out vacation and so on. Um, ATS will be in, I believe, the last week of the month to do a performance test on our
boilers. Everything runs fine. We've already test fired everything, but they come in and do it every couple years. Um, of course, the mowers are done. We finished up, I think it was the 10th of October. Um the only remaining sport is football. So the only thing we're painting is the stadium just for practices. And then uh we've already we picked up got a really good deal on the wheat and feed fertilizer for spring right off. It's already bought and stacked. Um we're doing some cost cutting stuff. Uh started out with just streamlining products, you know, Windex and different, you know, there's no need to have, you know, four different kinds of Windex. So you know for instance uh and then it it kind of took another step. We have Jfill machines which are hang them
on the wall, you run the solution through uh and this was just just an example. U Windex like the spray cans we bought I think were 320 a can if we bought them by the case. Um once we pay a buck and a half for the bottle and they provide labels so we're legal. It's six cents to do a court through the JO. So, we went through and identified about 25 different products that will be replaced by four in these machines. Not all the custodians are thrilled because everybody has their favorites of this or that, but it's mighty hard to justify, you know, three, four, five bucks a can or a bottle or to, you know, a quarter a bucket or whatever. So, it it should should produce quite a savings. Um, actually that was
all I wrote down. Any questions? >> I had one maybe for HMS uh football field. I know we were talking about moving sprinklers together. They're already marked. They're already done. >> Yeah. I called Martinez about two months ago and he came out and walked with me and I had already measured everything. They're supposed to be 45 ft spacings and from center to the first line ended up being about 35ish. They were about 10 ft too far in which is why we had yellow spots. >> Uh they've all been marked and measured. I >> sometime in the next few weeks I hope to get them out there and get started on >> Okay, good. >> So that'll be done. And then uh we're still kind of waiting to find out if we're going to be able
to use, you know, funds for the for the baseball diamond. um whether we can or can't. If if if we get our winter projects caught up, we have some leaks to dig up and fix and then of course lots of rock. If we get our winter projects done and there's still some time, I'd like to start just doing some straight, you know, straight lines. There nothing too interesting about them. Um just wherever the risers were for a for a hand line, we just cut it off, bury it, go for every 45 ft the sprinkler in. Uh, it's not it's not the way I want to do it, but sometimes cost dictates how you do it, right? >> So, but no, things are going pretty smooth. >> Great. Thank you. >> Thanks, Andy. >> Questions for
Andy. >> Thank you. >> You guys have a good night. >> You, too. >> Next up is the American Red Cross shelter agreement. So, um, kind of like other things, I get a phone call and says, "It's time to update your American Red Cross shelter agreement." And I said, "What Red Cross shelter agreement?" Um, so Hel Middle School has been a shelter for the community and we're going to continue that. Um this is called the pre-ervey form saying are you interested and so forth and they put everything together for proer for the community and then they will send out the agreement. Um this is just kind of anformational for you that we're moving forward with continuing that arrangement. >> Any questions? I had had one. Um I know there used to be a generator at
HMS. Is there still >> There is still a generator. We just don't Oh, there's two. Okay, go ahead, Andy. I don't know if they both are operational. >> To the best of my knowledge, the last time they ran was three to four years ago. So, it shouldn't be the end of the world to get them going, but I'm actually working on contracts, right? Or was working on a contract with uh Caterpillar out of Pasco. I can't think of the name of it off hand. And they're not cheap to work with. So, we're kind of looking at some other options. How much of the work we could do ourselves or maybe the bus garage could help us with, but technically I don't think we could go over and start either one of them right now if
we had to. So the really big one is that housel was actually put there by FEMA probably 20 plus years ago and it was all managed, operated, tested, everything was through FEMA and then they about probably 10 12 15 years ago said up we don't have any money anymore and just walked away and it's huge. It's the big really big one that's because the middle school was the hospital evacuation site. Maybe I don't know if in the screen it still is but hospital evacuation site. So it was designed to run like that wing not just the essentials. So once that got dropped then it kind it sat for a long time and then it was running again for a while and then >> just before Dave left maybe is when they got it running. >>
Yeah. >> But it's been sitting for a long time. >> Yeah. going on what five years. >> But it's it's big. >> That's huge. It's like >> I don't know anything about that >> size of a pickup. I mean it's a big big generator and there's even the smaller ones I don't know double what the high school is. Um, well, kind of where I was getting at that. I think if you know HMS is our Red Cross shelter, their community shelter, >> then I don't you know perhaps we can get community, you know, that >> it was community partners to help out hospital. If I remember correctly, it was set up so that it did positive pressure on the gymnasiums and it was through the not the firing center, but where they used to keep
the mustard gas and Uatella. Oh yeah. And they always figured if there was some kind of humongous accident and the wind was blown just right, potentially could get here. So that's that's who installed it, maintained it, and then as soon as the stuff was was uh cleaned up, they just walked away. Plus might might be worth the conversation with some of our other community partners to see if they at least help maintain it. But I mean, there's no point not maintaining because if we need it, >> we'll want to have power at some point. >> Yeah. Once a person gets it running, it's just a matter of keep it full of diesel >> right and it used to get tested. It used to get tested once a month. >> It's very loud when it gets
tested though because it's like a tractor basically. Um, and uh I do I wonder though about um Sean and I are working on a emergency repair grant for some things. I wonder if we could maybe if you get the >> initially to get the cost >> get the quote uh to get it up and running again. If you could if you have that and you send it to us, maybe we could include it in that grant because each entity can get up to $600,000. So, >> oh, it's well under that. Yeah. >> Well, but we have a probably three or $400,000 of other things we're going to ask for, too. So, we might as well try. >> Yeah. No, that's fine. I know it was about 20 >> 25,000 >> 20 24 25 for a
three-year contract, and they would come out once a year, uh, check the batteries, oil filter, air filter, change oil, you know, and run it. And then the the odd, you know, like the six-month visit was just to run it, test the batteries, and walk away. I thought, man, that's a ton of money for >> I would need the up and how to get it up and running cost as a separate probably bid. >> Yes, I'm sure it would. Yeah. >> Thanks, Andy. Thanks, Diana. >> Any other questions? >> Well, I I'm assuming that thing's hooked into the the grid. I mean, so you can shut one off and it feeds it would work the whole facility. I and I don't and it may be more than that because it's supposed to be um Jim's off
so they could run it as a hospital but I runs much more than just a backup generator. Would there be a need somewhere else for the second generator or or talked about that we built the school I think was having a backup generator for the pump or has one That would seem like the smaller one, >> right? Well, maybe we can look into the cost of moving Thanks, Andy. Any other questions? Moving on. Is there anybody signed up online? It doesn't look like anybody's here. You're all signed up to talk tonight, right? Okay, we'll skip that. Uh, moving on to student uh board reports. Uh, Ezric. >> Um, so the leadership class put on the Veterans Day assembly on Monday. Uh, I think it went pretty well. The swim team, cross country, and football team
are all preparing to head to state this weekend. And then FFA Nationals was two weeks ago where we had our Amech team earn a gold emblem award. Owen Hartlet placed first in part of that competition. And then also Johnny Cortez represented us in the Spanish Creed and I think he did pretty well. Um the high school drama club is performing almost this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Doors are opening at 6:30 starts at 7 and I think they're pretty excited for that. Um we had a college and career fair two weeks ago, I think. two weeks ago and I was there the whole time and I think it went really well. >> Any questions for us as we >> guys? Thank you. Appreciate it. Uh moving on to action item A is first reading of policy
0264260A rental rates, facility rental rates. >> Okay. So I've done what was asked. Um, I made sure that weekend and night rates were time and a half or one and a half times. What we did struggle a little bit was was um how we um verbally we kind of agreed $150 cleaning fee no matter what. So, the example that was asked of me was we normally do an agreement. Let's use AAU. Well, they wouldn't pay $150 cleaning fee per game. they wouldn't necessarily play one because they do almost all of their own cleaning. And so if you could look at the language that we used um and to see if that's acceptable that it it's per agreement, right? Um so like um we have oh let's see we have an event coming for a Sunday
at at Christmas time. So, that's easily dis dis um $150 clean. You know what I'm getting it? But when you have these that well, we have an agreement with the city about the pool, but I'll use that as another example. They play pickle ball, you know, three or four times and whatever, you wouldn't charge them $150 per match or day or whatever. So, I just needed your thoughts on how the language is about the cleaning. It has one little asterisk on it and I'm wondering what your thoughts were. So, you're referring to the minimum deposit of $150. >> Uhhuh. Is required for all facility requests. For estimated fees over a,000, additional deposits may be required. >> So, notice how in blue it says per session, event, or season. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on
that. I don't want to make that. So, AEU, for example, cleans. They have a crew that cleans after each Saturday or Sunday or whatever. So, it didn't seem I don't know if the word's fair, but it didn't seem reasonable that they would we would charge them $150 on top of them doing their own cleaning. Well, I think one thing with a and tell me if I'm wrong, but typically they've done in kind service. So, they >> Right. I I just was using that as an example. You're right. They they do the gym floors and we have different agreements, >> right? >> But I we do have um let's use um the PTO. They use it for three nights for something. Would we charge them 150 per day or per event? Right. If they have the
mess, would it be not a one time per event, not per day? That's that's kind of what I'm asking. Again, that was a Friday night. So, I had a hard time coming up with a way to write that with all of the things that came to my mind that might be exceptions, right? When you try and write a fee schedule, you try to come up with something. And that's why we use the blue. It says recession, event, or season depending on what it might be. I think it's generic enough, but we just have to use common sense when we're because I don't think we're going to be able to describe every possible scenario that could happen. So I to me it's generic enough that >> and that the reason those boxes are in blues, that's
where our corrections was. We wanted to make sure you could see that that one and a half times, right? The cleaning fees paid out. >> Exactly. >> So they after the Friday weekend your example we said clean like your deposit then what what do we do for Saturday? >> I I guess I don't know the answer to that. That's I mean that's kind of what I'm asking, right? Like >> I mean [snorts] I think I mean if it was over a weekend I would say it it would be for the event because I mean yeah obviously come in Sunday clean for Monday school facility so it's ready to go Monday. Okay I here's a good one. Let's use this one. Um we um rent our space to the um Integrity Driving to the driving school
and they have about a six week session three or four nights a week for you know what I'm saying and they use the same classroom over and over, right? Um they empty their garbage, put it out in the hall, right? And pick up the bag. I feel that's like a session, right? Like a a four-week session. We they do their $150 deposit, their deposit per hour. They're cleaning basically cleaning their own room. Straighten it up, empty the garbage if there's kid garbage, right? And they set it in the hallway. I don't see that I could pay charge them $150 a day. I agree. >> Then we can >> reoccurring. I just want to make sure that everybody for reporting purposes and that you know that it is kind of subjective for a lack of a
better word to whatever is actually happening at the event. >> It is I wonder if session or event sufficient season might be too all-encompassing because say Aaou said we're not going to clean anymore. We want you guys to do it. You say season and they're in the gym seven weeks. That's really seven cleaning times and it probably take more than two hours to clean both gyms. So I wonder if taking season off might be a good idea. Just be session event slashevent. >> Who would manage this? Like >> we Selena, myself and Jackson manage this and then Sonia does the billing. Well, I think keeping it as generic as possible, but allowing for that, you know, the Yeah, just to adjust it according to how much use and wear and tear and stuff would be
on it. One of the things that Jackson and I have discussed is uh for starters, not everybody's version of clean is the same. Um not not that it's bad, it just is what it is. is keeping track because a lot of a lot of uh a lot of entities will say, "Oh, no, we don't we don't need a custodian. We'll take care of it ourselves." And they may do a fairly good job, but they don't do, you know, what we expected. So, we were going to come up with a way to just keep track of the ones that didn't quite fulfill what they said they would do, and then next year they wouldn't be given an option of, you know, no, we won't. We'll take care of it ourselves. No, no, you won't. We're going
to get a custodian. And then there's some like like Trinity Dance will come in and do a two or three show weekend and we're cleaning up glitter for like two weeks, you know, and it just is what it is. It's the nature of the animal. But so just something to think about it, you know, this policy does it have a procedure that follows has like expectations on um >> we go over that when we um >> but it's written I know that there is a local city that did or does have >> no especially tile. I think you could probably put a procedure together on like the nature of how it's supposed to be. >> More than happy to do so. Um if if you if I can remove the and move it to second,
I can bring the procedure just asformational item next time. So, however you wish to proceed forward. >> Well, I move to approve first reading of policy 4268, facility rental rates taking striking out the season within the pro uh policy. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve policy 4268. Students, all those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> I. Motion carries. Uh moving on to first reading of policy 55. That really review of attached forms, employment disclosure, certifications, requirements, asurances, and approval. >> So let me put it together in a nutshell. What's what the situation is? If you read through policy 505, there's two um um issues that came up. Um I'm going to you so if you go through it, there's A B CDE E and F which are the
um like sexual misconduct and whatever. There is one on gross misdemeanor. I don't have it up in front of me because of the new. So, one of them is but there's no statute of limitation. I mean, there's no ending date. So, if you had um done something when you were 19 and you're now 60, there's no I couldn't let you volunteer because there's no baby. So, when I worked with Sean Mumford, he suggested that we just add the word unsupervised and then that would solve it versus all volunteers. Does that make sense? So, let me give you a couple examples. You're going on a field trip to the zoo and as long as you have supervi other adults, right, that are on staff supervising your work, you're never unsupervised with those students. Does that make
sense? Versus the way it's written. Um, I could never let you participate regardless. And so that was that was a piece of it that came about. Um so and then we needed to come up with the volunteer form. We have one that we use, but it doesn't uh disclose how often we're going to do the volunteer form. It doesn't say what um what the process is. So if you go down to the parent volunteer approval form 5005 F3 for so form three and if you take a look at that um now the the disclosure of crime so I will I will circle yes or no right for those and then you'll notice it says cone convicted of a crime related to drugs manufactured delivery or possession with intent to manufacture Sure distribute it's um and
then I say all approved volunteer right and then for example let's say someone had a DUI just went pick something so they're not allowed to drive students does that make sense? So, we can we can say come in and help with cupcakes or help in the library, but you're not driving, right? Um, so limited to specific classroom grade levels or activities, right? It gives us and then if you'll notice then I have no comments or notes, superintendent signature. We've never had anything that says according to policy, this is what you're allowed to do and this is what you're not allowed to do. The form requests, can I work in the classroom? But it never said what I was allowed to do or not. And this is advice of Sean Mumford. So if you look at
the form F2, um this is where they openly disclose, right? So it says, "Have you ever been convicted?" This is like working for us, right? And then um last volunteer form received approval valid through. See the date and we move by and our policy and then the draft policy. We've added the RCWs in. Basically, we're trying to get out of the gray. What I was trying to accomplish had a situation where a volunteer um asked if they could volunteer in the classroom and there was a domestic violence pending. I didn't know what to do with it. Or um uh also the opposite. They had a u minor not it was a drug possession but not with an intent not an intent to manufacture distribute when they were 20 and now 47. And I want to
know 27 years later, can they be cleared to volunteer in our pastors? >> Where is that in the policy though? >> It's an it's it just says these only are the five things. So I would say no, they've not had that. Now they're clear. But we didn't have a form that specifically said. We had no way to for me to look at their background check. And then I'd see that I'm like, well, it says drones, right? And but it doesn't have an intent to distribute or manufacture, so yes, I can clear them, but it makes there was no form where I actually said no, they don't have this and sign off and staple the form to their background check. And I was really concerned that somebody could say, "We're not clearly vetting like, oh yes,
thank you." Like we're picking and choosing. We want to have a clear process for vetting every single person. >> And time frame doesn't really matter with the law just because it stays on their record. >> That's t that's too bad. um >> someone who had like a disorderly conduct when like in their early 20s and they're 50 years old and they're asking to volunteer and it comes up. So I mean most a lot of you can look and go okay that was when maybe you were young and not making as clear decisions as you are now as an adult. And so now I can go down the form and say no, no, no, no. Yes, you're cleared. And based on the interview, you're cleared to work in the classrooms, right? >> Would a time frame
be something that we could look at? >> Did not >> suggest a specific. He he said if those five are very clear that they should not be worked. >> So I get I mean this is probably better moved to a discussion item >> versus a >> Yep. >> I mean I I've got a pile of questions on this. I mean, we I'd be happy to go through it, but um I guess one of the questions, you know, I would have if we're get to our draft policy, talk about the five things that are absolute now, right? I guess my question and maybe this is you everybody else is if it's would you want to have that decision based solely on one person district. So what you know as you look through the somebody's background check
they're like well they got this but that was 35 years ago. Granted it might be 35 years ago but now you're putting one person within the district's putting their name on an approval for volunteers inside the classroom. Would that open us up to any other potential liability if something were to happen? Even though I mean I give I I get everything, but I I'm looking at it, you know, how much liability are we going to? >> So the A through Yeah. So the A through E are a flat known and then there's that subjective piece that that's what I'm worried about. We want to move this to a discussion item. Spend some more time on it. >> Yeah, let's uh >> I love it. I really appreciate it because this is a cheap one. >>
Um well, I would move to move the policy uh 50,0005 into discussion at the next meeting. I'd second it. >> It's been moved and second to uh move policy 505 action item to a discussion item for the next meeting. Students, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Next up is uh Red Rover. >> So Diana and I are going to tag team this. Diana can kind of start and then we can answer questions. So um we we really struggled with whether to bring this forward or not because there of the cost associated but the reality is we are our HR payroll we're struggling because we have such antiquated systems or really no system. So I I I think this is like something we have to do because we have to get one
efficiencies there's mistakes or things are getting missed because things aren't done they're done on paper and you know we don't have a system that's um user friendly where we do have a system or it's very old and antiquated uh because of the services that this would provide and this is significantly less expensive than the frontline system we looked at and has more capabilities. Um it uh because of the hiring piece which has a recruitment piece to it and uh the time tracking which we do have to track what's called time and effort for certain people working in grants. Um when looking at what it its capabilities were I was able to work through some grant pieces where we'll be able to help support the cost with some grant funding whereas it didn't really fill previously.
Maybe we would be able to do that maybe a little bit with the other system, but we we have to our employees are struggling because our systems or our lack of systems. And so this is a way to get us operating in an effective way in our school districts in a way that we have appropriate records and things are not getting missed because we aren't doing a bunch of stuff on paper. >> So I'm going to add to a little bit. An example would be we have our if you're going to apply for a job we use this system but then that system remember we talked about this doesn't talk to the next layer or we do some part of it on paper an example is for every 40 hours that you work in in
um as a substitute or something you're supposed to get one hour sick leave that's the state law we have to find a way to track that without literally typing, okay, in October they worked 83 hours, so they get one and now we have to save the three hours to the next month, right? All of those types of pieces. I think in addition um the ability to hire people to use a system to attract quality people to our district right now um our hiring literally a lot of our advertisement is on um our website and to be honest I don't really think most 21st century employees use websites a whole lot anymore except to maybe Google something and look for something but to use our system and I this actually has a recruiting and hiring piece
that reaches out to to their their reach to potential employees is is higher. The time tracking piece, we're doing paper time sheets um all over the place. There's such a huge amount for error. I spent most of September on paper time sheets to the point of like this stack of paper. It's in and if it's really can be there's a lot of room for error. um hand like searching up searching times like we have that in in the hourly rates. We have it in Skyward, but you're literally looking things up and writing them on a piece of paper that's going to payroll. Then they're putting that information to a spreadsheet and the information is then going in to our payroll system to pay people. It is so inefficient and it's there's just so much room
for error. We have to we have to make a change. >> So let's talk about cost comparison. Um, one of the questions is the difference between frontline was one application. >> Yeah, that's quite fun. >> Well, I did have I mean that was my first question. Okay, this front line when we talked about that was about once you got it implemented it's about 18,000 for absence management and recruiting hiring time and attendance and all that fun stuff. So what so we're getting one extra so for $6,000 what are we getting extra? >> That was times. Yeah. Go ahead. I can do you have >> in addition I don't I mean I've been working in frontline because we do have front line for um absence management now and we have our front line for uh like
forms and stuff for for hiring. It is not a userfriendly system at all. It it just isn't. This seems much more user friendly and will be much easier to train our employees. >> What are the different software you've updated the last month >> on it? >> Did not do attendance management with front line. >> We have the same one we use. Yeah. I think just like we've gone through our building facility maintenance guidelines that we need to do our software and really I think that might be a good idea to kind of get an outlook what is needed instead of just I would ask table it >> can you give us so can I restate what I heard True. So you're saying in our systems, operation operational systems such as these, what else is out
there that needs attention and what would we so that we're not peacemealing? Is that correct? >> Would the this Red Rover program would it I guess replace it? we would replace what we're using now. What what do we what what's the cost for what we're using now on an annual? >> So for hiring the only we really only have like an application system, not a comprehensive hiring system. Um and without honestly without Sean here, I can't answer that right now, but we can find that out for you. It is it is less than this, but it only it's only an application system. You can apply on it. It's not recruitment. It's not it's not giving you the forms that you need to hire people. It's none of that. um the time tracking piece and absent
management. This piece is integrated right now. We have ASOP which is our like substitute system. You can go in and get subs and you can sign up to take sub jobs in that system. But none of that information feeds into our payroll system. So we have to turn around and export that, create a report and turn around to pay people. This would make it all integrated so that it would communicate with Skyward and that system currently is frontline and it doesn't communicate with Skyward. >> It does or doesn't >> not. >> So part of I think that was my one of my other questions. You know we we had that frontline presentation uh that we didn't move forward with. So this is better than frontline. Um, what other districts use it that that you that
you can reference? >> Our nearest neighbor that uses it is Benton City. Um, and I can't remember off the top of my head the other there's several districts, but I but Benton City is the one I know uses it because Drew Rab who's working with us, he he's one of the ones that brought this to us because he was like, "Hey, have you guys looked at Red Rover? It's less expensive. It does more. It's a better system." So that's kind of where that came from. So we started exploring it. So, we'll have some cost comparison breakdowns and then we'll have some information to be able to um look at what else may come up in the future as far as Is that right? That's what I'm hearing. Right. What coming up in the future of
other systems that So, we're not peacemealing. >> Yeah. Well, okay. >> I maybe look at I think whether or not He's doing they do >> I don't know like like payroll software whatever is this like do they have >> we we don't have a choice for that >> so in skyward with sub like payroll the system so that it reports and it pays from we don't have a choice on that but we so we want a system that will communicate with that system that's not an option for Yes. >> Did I hear at some point Skyward might be going through a different program? >> Correct. So the new program is Q or cumulative. Many districts are already on it. We're not slated to they're it was kind of they bid off more than they can
choose. So I think originally we were supposed to go like next year, but we don't move to a Q till 2028. and we will have to move and it is the replacement for skyward which is all the payroll student systems all of that it's and that will it there's districts that are in Q using red rubber now >> I agree with the the whole idea of streamlining so we're not peacemealing I think that's that's a really good idea and so I would move to table this um I would move to table red rover. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to table red robert. Do we need to do this next meeting >> or first meeting in December? Well, >> we'll do the first meeting. Yeah, >> we'll bring this back the first meeting
of December. Um, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Uh, next up is the Boys and Girls Club grant security securization approval for superintendent. >> So, I'm going to do my best to explain this. So, the Boys and Girls Club got grants to do their process. O'Brien, are you on? Ryan Ace, >> I am. You're going to do wonderful, but I'm here to fill in any holes or answer any questions, but you're gonna dominate this. >> I'm gonna chicken it out. You just tell them. >> Okay, that's fine. Hello everybody. Thank you. I wish I could be there in person, but uh logistics prevented me. But um yes, we uh you know, engaged in that robust fundraising effort um to build uh out the Boys and Girls Club in your facility
adjacent to the hold high school. Um in addition to those private donations that came in, we also worked actively to secure some public funding. Some uh you know more clear than others. So the dream court that we celebrated this summer was a part of a local community project request through legislature and we had a few other uh local community projects that came through through that state funding bucket. But one other one is is uh some match money through department of commerce. And so this is a 25% match of private dollars raised and invested in the building. And in order to finalize receipt of those dollars, um it does have some documents there that you'll see that uh we need the the school district to consider um engaging on. Basically, what it says is that because
the state is granting dollars uh to the Boys and Girls Club uh for renovation of a ProEer school district facility, um Proer School District needs to partner in that effort. that basically guarantees for a period of time 10 years um that that building is used for youth purposes. Now I think this is a pretty easy one because the lease we have on the with the district is beyond that in scope of years and even if the uh lease was severed uh the school district you know is my understanding it would still be required to use that for educational youth purposes. though. Um, but it is an additional document that is needed from the district in order to finalize receipt of those funds. So, that's a brief summary. I can fill in any holes. Um, but
it's just a really a a request of you to to grant Superintendent Casey approval to sign those documents in order to get those funds released from the state to the club. >> So, I'm going to add one piece. The the key when I was reading the documents was 10 years and our lease is 50. That's one. And two, it would have even like like Brian said, even if it was severed, it would have to stay being used by youth. And that's what we're in the business of. So, I didn't I don't see personally any concerns at all because it would never be not used for youth. Plus, our lease is 50 years. Questions for Brian or Kim Davis? Michelle? >> No questions. >> Well, I move to approve the Boys and Girls Club grants securization
approval for superintendent to sign. Been moved and seconded. students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carries. >> So, Brian, >> thank you all. Appreciate it. >> Brian, I will go tomorrow and have them notorized and they'll be ready for pickup. >> Excellent. Have a great night, everybody. We appreciate you and your partnership with the club. >> Thank you. Thanks. >> Next up is a 2526 school improvement plans. So, uh, the state requires our us to bring the school improvement plans before the board for approval. Please understand these are living documents and some of our principles have actually made some adjustments and improvements on their improvement plans since they first submitted them back in June. So, uh, we don't get any funding anymore. This is a compliance measure that we're required
to do. Um, I know we had to talk about what with the principles presenting. They're here to answer questions if you have questions, but we could do maybe one one school per building, one school per meeting over the next five meetings with just a short like one pager overview of their plan if that's something that's helpful to you. Um, we had talked about this a while back and kind of I I think Kim and I both came away thinking like, oh, just bring them forward. You know, we've got to approve them. It's kind of a compliance measure, but if you would like to know more information, the principal certainly can do that. We could do that maybe in lie of a building report. that could be a a school improvement report over the next five
meetings or so. Um, but we ask that you um get feel free to ask questions. And >> and then the other piece is this does not replace the data share out that they're preparing. So this this is a compliance measure but that's not going to change the data share that they're >> and the buildings the principal these build this plans are they update them but they're very similar to what you've seen in the past because they're expected to carry goals really over a span of more than one year because working on for instance increasing reading levels for students second language students is not going to happen in one year. like you might get some improvement, but it is a long-term goal. That's been a big shift in the state in the last few years. It's
no longer like come up with a plan this year and come up with a new one next year and a new one the next year. So, four of them are back there. Did Jesse go? Okay. No questions for Jesse. She's not here. >> I'm online if you have questions. >> Oh, there she is. >> Any questions? students. You read them all right? >> Of course they did. >> She's like, "Don't look." >> She's like, >> "Don't look at me." >> She started They only got through two of us. >> They got a little sleepy. That was it. >> Would you like the principles to do like in their report, the next five building reports be just a little summary of their school improvement plan instead? >> I I mean, as far as a school improvement
plan, I I don't know. I guess I'd be more interested in student development and how things are tracking on that side of it. I mean, if this is just something that has to be done for the state, then that's my thought. >> Go ahead, Brian. >> Sorry. >> Uh, so you know me, I am not one to shy away from making opinion known. Um, and at the beginning of this year, we we brought in Christine Clem. Um well they the district administration brought in Christine Clem to work with all of the buildings in the district which initially may have been met with u a little skepticism uh but she has been working with us. We just met with her again today uh at the high school and um she is changing the way that we
view school improvement plans. Um, it really is a a document. What you guys are seeing is the document that is the compliance piece. Um, and her entire philosophy is you need to make a school improvement plan that works for you. Um, if all you're doing is checking boxes, then that is not the intent. And so our specifically, and I I think we're a little bit different at the high school level than everybody else, um, our our plan has nine points in it. And it's death by agenda really is is what it is. You if you have too many points then you're not going to do any of them effectively. And we can see that. Um we have focused in on on two areas. I'm supposed to present to the board again next week so I
can focus in on on school improvement plan. Um if that's what you want. But I just wanted to get up here and say number one, thank you for getting Chris Christine Clem. Uh number two, we are still trying to partner with the other schools in in the district. um and the steps and leaps and bounds that they've made, specifically Heights and HMS uh in our work at at Proer High School to focus in on professional learning communities. And so most of the work that and really the only changes that you're going to see in that document uh from ProEer High School is a focus on continued focus on freshman success, but focus on freshman success through professional learning communities. And um we just sat down and and made some timeline charts and planned out the
entire second trimester with professional development for our building. And um a lot of moves that that um the level of specificity hasn't hasn't always been there. And so it's been very good. But um yeah, I just I don't know. Just wanted to talk, I think. >> Thanks. You sat here. You wanted something to say. >> Just sat in the front. Uh, he's got >> tried to get I tried to get all of them to move to the front. They didn't want to >> um I mean just kind of reading through like I said I only got through a couple of them. Um I wouldn't mind you know as part of maybe an ongoing deal is just to kind of have a brief overview of specifically the goals uh and the specific goals that you've listed
in here. And I mean, I've got a ton of other questions that would probably either be answered or or be a part of that discussion when we talk about goals. And I think in addition to that, it'd be nice to have a review of those goals, see how they're, you know, some of them are long-term. A lot of them are long term, but I think there are some short-term goals or some growth patterns that you can bring out when you look at the data. Um, and as we proceed through the year, you could probably attach that to, you know, how that goal is progressing um, you know, within the school year and how you look at it, you know, into the future. >> I'm I'm wondering if for the building reports, instead of making them
only do three minutes, we maybe give them five minutes and then part of the time is just an update of what they're working on their school improvement plan and what impact that's having. And then they also have a little time to highlight their other things that are going on as well. And it might be more than five minutes. I'm pretty sure Jesse went over three, but I forgot to set the timer. >> Yeah, I think that would be I think that'd be appropriate. And I maybe just I don't know for the sake of time and if there's questions we do a meeting or one a meeting and that way you can actually get a little more detailed without it taking an hour. >> Do we have a time frame we have to stay in for
this? We could spend the whole night here. Really? >> well, we do need approval. If you could approve the plans. Yeah, if you could do the approval of the plans and we'll be compliant and we can say that I can upload the minutes after those are done. And then what we can do and I think I mean we have three meetings between now and Christmas. We can get three of the buildings in before Christmas and then we'll do two in January. I think that's Thanks, Brian. Yeah. I move to approve the 2526 school improvement plan. >> Second. >> You got it. >> Thanks. >> I'll second it. Okay. It's been uh moved and seconded to approve the 2526 school improvement plans students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carried.
Now you got more time to read them. >> Oh goodness. Okay. Right. Moving on to vouchers and payroll. Any questions? >> I had uh one question on the October general fund which was check 911 916 to communities and schools. Um, I thought we were done with doing that. >> We still have communities of schools at the middle school and um, we do pay a portion of the contract out of title one to support the students at the middle school and then another portion of that is paid with Thrive. I think that just came through. >> Y pays >> okay >> a portion. So this is a portion of that funded. >> It's my understanding. >> Oh yeah, >> this is probably our last year. >> Okay. I say probably because as soon as I said
it would be then somebody would find a grant for it to continue but it's slated to be done this year. >> Any other questions? >> I'd make a motion to approve vouchers and payroll. >> Second. been moved and seconded to approve vouchers and payroll students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Uh next up isou with central Washington University and prosper school district. >> So there's actually two here because they have this is for student teachers. They have separate agreements for their master's program and their b traditional route bachelor's program. And so they reached out because they have a student teacher they would like to place with us and they actually sent me the wrong agreement. And then I said, "Is this the right agreement?" And they said, "Oh, no. We
need this agreement." And I said, "Well, which one do you want?" And they said, "Well, could you just do both because we might have student teachers from both." Sure. So, uh, central, we don't get a lot of central students. Some years we have, but they would like to send some students our way. We like to support pre-ervice teachers. So, that would just allow us to have central students placed here. Any questions for Deanna? >> I'll move to approve theou between Central Washington University and Proer School District. >> Second. It's >> been moved and seconded. Students, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Motion carries. That concludes our action items tonight. Moving on to consent items A, B, and C. >> Mr. Gilman is down the hallway at the pack meeting. Um,
so I we kind of thought he would be here by now. Um, >> so he may he may but I mean he may show up as we're go through, but that's where he's at right now. He's down the hall at the pack. >> And as you know, Delise is still out. Um I did send you an email um a little bit ear late in the day but um about some questions for you about the financial report and so if you could respond to me remember to not reply all but um there's some questions on the financial reports. >> Did we move to approve the consent item? I'll move to approve the consent items. >> I apologize to everyone. I thought you were done. My apologies. >> It's the It's a new format. >> Oh, I
was already thought you were all done. I apologize everyone. I screwed up the agenda. >> I was like I when you said we have time I thought you have time for it to show up. >> I apologize. >> It's all good. >> I did. Is there a second? I second. Okay. >> While you were talking, >> it's been moved and seconded to approve consent items A, B, and C. students. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Motion carry. >> All right. Now we'll go to >> I don't know what. >> Yeah. Um Okay. Uh, so actually Frank was here the other day and I was excited that I um so we have the high school science curriculum and we do have the grant from PNNL which I kept remembering is 31,000 but
it was actually $33,000 and then um I did a lot of back and forth with OSPI to uh in our our biling into the bilingual program because we the cost increased because we needed some print Spanish materials and I thought it was going to cost us still about $4,000 out of basic aid I got it down to zero. So, our PNNL grant and our bilingual program. So, we're getting our curriculum at the high school um for just grant money. So, I'm pretty excited about that. Science on wheels was great. I actually covered at Gelain's building last Friday. Um I did spend a lot of time in kindergarten, which I was real tired at the end of the day after that. They are they just talk to you about anything under the sun. They are they're
talkers. Um science on wheels was great. We had the same engineering that Jesse talked about. Um, the rocket, I know I saw some eyes with that. The rocket was a like a bottle rocket with compressed air was like a like a Pepsi bottle, but the kids thought that was just great. It was it was fun. So, they have a great assembly and then the kids go in rotations through and get to see all the all the different things and activities and try everything out. It was really fun. That was great. PTO was great in helping us with it. They really are the ones that got that started and then they kind of uh decided they came came to me back in the spring because it they were kind of moving away from that goal. They
wanted to support some other things. So we with their support and they helped us get the communication going and everything, we were able to make that happen and use some title four funds. If we don't get title four next year, we'll have to see what we can do to make that keep keep that to keep happening. Um it's been it was the harvest festival. I went to the harvest festival at KRV. Um KV did a great job. They had, you know, all sorts of activities for the kids and photo booth and art and cake walks like oldfashioned carnival style thing, fishing, you know, you put it behind and shake the thing that I remember going to as a kid like in 4. It was the greatest thing. I loved it. The kids were having the
greatest time. They're all in their costumes and there are families and parents everywhere helping. Um, so it was really great. Riverview did a great job with that. Um, and then Friday f is festival of trees for our boys and girls club. It's the their biggest fundraiser. Um, so hopefully if you're able to attend, I know the football game getting on top of that. Um, we have State Swim going on. It's created some conflicts for people, I'm sure. But, um, I'm hoping their app will come out for auction at some point and maybe people will be able to bid if they're not there. I don't know. I know we can do that in the past. I know that didn't happen last year. So hopefully they're going back to that. So if someone isn't attending, they could
still maybe participate. So hopefully if you're if you're able to attend uh to that festival of trees. >> Okay. Any questions for Deanna? >> Diana. >> Thank you. Thank you, Kim. >> Um so it's my normal form. We did have a new showing on the grant property and they've actually come back a second time. So that was policy. Um, and we had a new call on the interest for the Park Avenue or the the raw property. And um, when I spoke with the realtor, he was excited. They asked some what he calls good realtor realy questions. Um, not just liloo type questions. So, it was positive. Um, we are still meeting with the county monthly. Um, we did take our fiscal specialist with us and she got to meet and so that was positive. I
think the one thing I'm taking from that is the relationship with them is getting stronger. But here's the other piece. I'm learning more about what I'm reading when I read the reports. That makes sense. Um, so last week I didn't understand a report and um, so I did a team's meeting with one of their employees and they really explained to me um, for example um, when back taxes when someone doesn't pay their taxes on time, you know that if it gets foreclosed or something happens, you can still get those taxes 20 years later. So you do see on the spreadsheet what's coming and what's late and so forth. So that was kind of interesting. Um I got to understand really what I was reading on our tax report. Um we met with Drew today from
ESD123. Um we are on track for year end information to the state like it's supposed to be um next Friday. Um, with all of the work that the SD has done for us, I have to say they are very responsive responsive and they're doing some deep good work with us. Um, we're continuing to learn um about where problems going to arise and where you can find things. And I I think that's going to be our biggest aha when you when you hear the report. Um, I'm learning even though I have an accounting minor from the 80s when I went to school and decided I didn't want to be an accountant. The acrual process of you pay the bill in the 2526 school year and getting it back to the year. That doesn't seem very difficult
as long as the acrruals have been happening year after year. So, one of the things we'll see is we acrewed we did not see if I can slow down in September of an expense did not get acred back to the previous fiscal year >> paid out. >> It was paid out in this year and then now in instead of leaving it in 2526 we acred it back to the year it was done in. So now we have two sets of those expenses in one fiscal year. Does that make sense? So what Diana and I are learning is it's not did you acrew it, but did you acrew it in the right way that so that year after year you don't end up with a year like this where you have the revenue in one year
and the expo sets of expenses in the next year. So, those are some things that um we even talked about in my superintendent's meeting. We meet every other Wednesday morning. And um his name is Than. He's from Clarkson School District. He goes, "Kim, we went through that in Clarkston about 12 years ago." And they kept fig couldn't figure out why things looked out of whack. It's what they kept calling it. Well, they were they did the expenses in one year and then the next year had two revenues. So it looked all and it took three years to get that to work out. And when you change business managers, neither one person is doing it wrong. But if you don't have the same person doing one end as the same as the person doing the other
end, it looks out of way. So Drew is going to explain that to you. Um legal, we posted the missurr property lease. um it went out on the paper today and then it'll run again next Wednesday and those bids are due by January 6th. So, and there's a bid sheet and so forth. Um I want to make sure this is public record and everybody understands very similar to what we talked about with Boys and Girls Club tonight. The Inspire Learning Center at Witstrand is no longer. They received a grant a couple years ago to build a new facility in Benton City. Our lease with them said you had to return the property to the way it was. Well, that was raw land. So, initially about six or seven months ago, I said, "Well, yes, we
want you to remove the the modular homes that are fault. they're old and whatever, but we'd like to inquire about keeping the one stick built building and the one foundation modular type home. And so we talked about that about six or seven months ago. And then we met two Mondays ago or so. I was trying to look it down. I think it was two Mondays ago because yesterday kind of scrolling the weekend. twoies ago and their agreement much like what the Boys and Girls Clubs, they can't leave us the building because it said that they they can't be competing spaces for those students having a place. So if they're building a new building for 25, I know it's way more than that, but 25, then this building can't house potentially the competing students for that.
And so if you come out and you're like, why are they tearing down those buildings? It's a part the grant and the le and the agreement. It's not the process school district saying tear them down. I want to make that very clear to anybody's listening because you're going to if you drive by next Monday and there's the bucket out there ripping them out. That's why. So, um I just want to I want to clarify that. Um I notified you that and we notified our community there's nitrates in the water at um with Strand. We will test them every 30 days. But um there is a I hate to use the word simple because nothing is ever simple, but if the tests for three months come back still above the 10.0 mark, we can put a
filtration system on that um to solve that. Right now we have the big um jugs containers of that. Um much like Deanna on Thursday I was principal for the day at Caravee. I know why I was a high school principal. That all those little bodies running around me, they're they're a little stressful, but it sure was fun. Um, I do think it was important to mention that Deiana, Kevin, myself, Jennifer, Rick, we really do try to fill in so that we're not paying sub costs or whatever. And it's really good for our souls and it's good for us to remember where we came from, right? Once in a while, um, we're meeting and conferring with the PSC and PA. there's happening. Things are going pretty smoothly actually. Um we're talking candidly about financial situations and
tough decisions with the unions and what's going on. Um I'm going to schedule a budget study session in January um so that we're prepared to move forward. Um the Tyler technology um I Hi May, he's not here to share but he's getting a huge current learning curve. Um, we spent quite a bit of time today talking about Excel and how data is imported. Um, you can't say Kim Casey. If the computer system sees them as Kimberly Casey, it's not going to recognize. So, we spent a lot of time going through that today. Um, our new filing system that we're working on sounds crazy, but that's kind of goes back to these other pieces. Um we're going to debrief the Adams family um play, see what was pros and cons of doing the little shorter play
without an intermission being done from different things that happens on Monday morning. Um working through the security qualifications and then I've spoke with um quite a few people on choice transfer of homeschool students for programs. Um, I really want we'll probably have it as a discussion item, but I want people to understand, um, our proer students come first when we're making decisions. And I veterans prayed. While it was short and sweet, boy, the band did a great job. It was so cute. I don't Well, cute's not the right word. So appropriate, I think, would be what I would say. And the gun salute. Festival of Trees. I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Deanna. We're going to have a group and Rotary is going well. Um they've changed the format a little. It's a little harder
for me to get some to the meetings, but still going on. >> Thank you, Kim. Any questions for Kim? >> Um on the the water situation at Witran, has that been kind of an ongoing up and down nitrate levels? >> This is the first time and we barely hit over. >> Yeah. >> So, the health department was even though we had to follow very strict protocols, they weren't overly concerned. Um but we'll see. Okay. Is there any Do we know how deep that well is? Is it like really deep or >> I don't know. I All I know is that the the new pump and the filtration system is what's I mean they they've done it every they test just so people understand they test it every single month >> and we've never had a
a problem. So, um, they said to her words to me is, "Don't be concerned until I tell you to be concerned." And so, but we still have protocols. We have to follow. >> Yep. >> I had one question on um the interest that we're paying, you know, for um I guess using money. Is that anywhere on the budget or can we see that? >> No, it wasn't on the budget. It will be on the budget. and then you'll see a line item once we get our first statement. >> Okay. >> And then we'll be able to talk it through more. >> Thank you, Mimble. >> Okay. Uh next up is board rep. Oh, actually Kevin showed up and got snacks. He's ready to go. >> Um so we had uh some ARC PD today. We
also have some ARPD tomorrow. That's the American Reading Company and they're working with our bilingual teachers uh specifically on the bridge on how to bridge the two languages together uh between English and Spanish. And then um we had Pan Panorama PD on Monday that uh with the administrators and coaches we looked at uh the attendance reports that are in Panorama and then also our survey results from our students. Uh and then in the afternoon we looked at uh the survey results and then also on how to create groups so that we could start uh grouping the students for different interventions and then building those interventions in the program. Basically it creates a whole profile of that student with their assessments in there and there's some things that need to be tweaked still a little bit
because it's fairly new. Some think pieces are still missing. So just working with them to just kind of get the best uh profile that we can for those students. Uh teachers I wouldn't say necessarily I was in a PLC where they were actually printing off some of the profile sheets and they were discussing different students and the needs students had. So um it was neat to see that they were taking advantage of the program and during the PLC. Um, we also had a parent survey uh that we released. Uh, the numbers I think are now over 200, which is still pretty it's it's still low. Um, so I'll be meeting with Diana to see if we're going to continue that another push for that. Um, overall though, our student surveys came back and everything was
trending up uh compared to the spring survey. Let's see. Uh Halloween we hosted a migrant PLC. So uh different migrant directors, recruiters, recorders, all different people that are part of the migrant program actually came to user and we hosted them and they had a discussion about different things that they were struggling with uh that could be programs on on what the states requiring them to record things like that. So, it was a great thing conversation to have and see everybody's heads put together to solve some of these issues. Um, downtown trick-or- treat here and there. I was cousin it you saw me baby white. >> Sure. >> Um, I attended some a PD at ESD where they broke it out different sessions. had never been into anything like this before that that they had posted.
I went to an AI and education um explored different types of AI that that that were available, compared them. Uh, one of the activities they had to had us do was creating a uh a meal and I never thought about using it really for personal use, but I started exploring. I could put in a budget. I could put in the different types of food I wanted. Uh, if there were a specific diet, put that in there. It told you even created a grocery list for you. I was like, It's gonna save Jenny a lot of time. So, uh, >> close. >> Yeah, that's true. Um, I went to an FBI, uh, session and I nih holistic violent extremists. I didn't hear that before. You >> a weirdo, I guess. >> Well, I had I had
never heard of that. So, I'm like, what is that? I kind of looked it up and I thought, well, maybe I should go to this because if they're bringing in the FBI to talk about it in a session, um I I am glad I went to it. Uh if you have a chance, you should look it up. It is uh pretty much an online manipulation and it is happening it's it's it's actually happening worldwide where you could have people in Europe manipulating kids locally. So uh I was sick to my stomach when I left because it is it is uh >> it's disgusting. >> What was it the name again? >> Nine holistic uh violent extremists. They consider this this group a terrorist group. The end goal is through manipulation is to get somebody to
videotape themselves killing killing themselves or killing others. That's it. I went to student voices. We actually had three former proer migrant students that were on the panel answering questions on how we can improve education, what resources we can offer. The kids did fantastic. Uh gave some suggestions out on uh mainly educating parents which I thought was pretty cool. So um we wrote those things down. Just had the pack meeting today. Talked about some of those opportunities during our general pack. Any questions for Kevin? See, >> Kevin, >> thank you. >> Uh, next up is board reports. Uh, Michelle, do you have anything? >> Yeah. Can you hear me? Okay. >> Yes. >> Okay, great. Um, well, first off, I wanted to congratulate both Jason and Alisa for their re-election to the Proser School Board. Thank
you both so much for your last four years of dedicated service and committing to yet another four years to the district. Um, I think we all really appreciate everything that you do for our students and our community. Um, additionally, I wanted to thank both Frank and Brian who have also taken on roles with WASDA um, as our District 11 legislative committee rep and um, interst intercolastic activities committee rep. So, thank you to both for taking on those additional duties. Uh this coming week I will be um having a meeting actually tomorrow with Darlene and we're going to talk a little bit about um the USDA grant that we're getting to use local meat and produce and what her plans are for that and then also just her vision for how we're going to incorporate more
scratchmade meals into the student menu. So I'm really looking forward to that conversation with her. Um, I definitely plan to attend the DHS play almost main while it's showing and I encourage everyone to go see that. Uh, let's see. Tuesday, next Tuesday at 7 is the fall HMS and PHS choir concert and then the following Thursday the 20th will be the beginning band concert. Both of those are at PHS at 7 o'clock. And then finally today I did see that HMS sent out a parent survey on the cell phone policy. So if there are any parents out there who want to give their opinion on how that is going at the middle school, take advantage of that survey link to provide your feedback. That's all I got. >> Thanks Michelle Brian. >> Thanks Michelle. Um
I don't have anything but do want to say thank you to Lisa and Jason for reopening again. Appreciate you guys and again thanks to admin for all the uh extra work that you guys are currently doing. Hopefully there's some light at the end of the tunnel there. But thank you guys. >> Great. >> Um I have nothing for tonight. >> Have no report. >> Uh I don't really have much. I just wanted to um you know congratulate Lisa and Brian and Frank and uh for for their roles and thanks Michelle for pointing that out and uh um you know from what I gather you know just a big thanks to all our fall athletes. they did a tremendous job uh representing our school not only in in district play uh but also some of the
playoffs and then we still got a few going to state. Um I did notice that there's quite a few honors excuse me that got you know honors in the SEWAC. Um so congratulate to them them and you know winter sports right around the corner and best of luck to the football team and cross country right is going >> that was last week. Okay, >> Swim. So, good luck to all them uh in their future endeavors. And with that, find the next next meeting. Um, so just a point of reference, our next meeting will be uh November 19th right here in the uh boardroom at 6:00 pm. So, it's next week, not not the week before Thanksgiving. With that, this meeting is a journ. Thank you.
