policy meeting to order. Thank you all for being here today and to our guests in the audience, thank you for being here today. Um, at this point, I'm going to ask Miss Gadeski to call the role. Miss Gaddeski, please. >> Mild, >> present. >> Miss Mason, >> here. >> Judy Justice. >> All right, we will carry on with our invitation. And just to let everyone know, Miss Justice was originally supposed to do the pledge, but I've asked Miss Mason to take her place today. Morning, New Hover County Schools Policy Committee. My name is Reverend Miles Baker Hunt. I serve as one of the associate pastors at Rightsville United Methodist Church. It's a great joy to have been asked to offer this morning's invocation. So, as you begin your work, let us pray. Gracious and guiding

spirit, we come together this day mindful of the great responsibility entrusted to this committee, the care, growth, and flourishing of students in our schools. We thank you for the opportunity to serve our community through thoughtful dialogue, careful listening, and wise decisionmaking. Grant us clarity of mind and steadiness of purpose as we review the policies which shape our district's vision and daily life. Help us to remember that behind every line of policy, there are students eager to learn, teachers striving to inspire, and families placing their trust in our shared work. Keep our hearts open to one another. Where there are differing opinions, let understanding prevail. And where there is uncertainty, grant us discernment. where there is fatigue, help us to renew our strength and focus. Remind us always that policies we discuss today will help build

the kind of community we want for our young people to inherit, one that is marked by respect, inclusion, opportunity, and hope. Guide this meeting with cooperation and goodwill. May the conversations be grounded in compassion in decisions guided by equity and justice. As the work of this committee concludes, may it be done so knowing that they have acted in the best interest of all students, showing integrity and care. In a spirit of gratitude and service, we offer this prayer. >> Amen. To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All righty. Next on our agenda, we have the approval of the agenda. >> I move we approve the agenda. >> I will second that. Any discussion?

Hearing none. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I >> that passes to zero. >> All right. Carrying on approval of the minutes. >> I move we approve the minutes. >> I will second that. Any discussion? Hearing none. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> All oppose. Carries again. 20. We are ready to get into the meat of our work today. Uh we have several uh policies uh that we've kind of brought right back forth. Um and we'll go ahead and jump into those first. Our first is 235 uh 2335, excuse me. I want to kind of make it easier for us. And that is advanced delivery uh of uh meeting materials. I did talk to Miss Justice yesterday when she called. We did she said she's fine with it as

written. So that's her opinion on it. Uh Miss Mason, what do you think? >> I'm also fine with it as written. >> Okay. Well, as am I. So, all in favor uh I'll make a motion we uh carry 23 2335 on to the full board. Please uh is there a second? >> Second. >> All right. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. Carries 20. 335. On to the board as written. All righty. Moving on to 2330 >> board committees. This one came from I believe it was Miss Barnhart. she would like to com uh the idea here is that we'd like to combine um the soil and water and the sustainability committees. Uh so if you look on section 9 if we could just and well I'll stop for a moment. Hello

Miss Angel, how are you? >> One of my favorite principles is here. It's great to see her. Thank you for joining. >> All right. So where were they? section 9. Uh we could use the words and I had come up with that. Let's see if we can find section 9 first. And I've also looked at our other policy which will be fine if we do this. It will be just under sustainability committee. Add the words additionally the two board members will serve on the soil and water conservation committee. That way they they could be kind of doing both duties. What do you think of that Miss Mason? So, >> you're actually currently on that committee? >> I Yes. >> On both of them, of course. [clears throat] >> Well, no, I'm only on one. >>

Okay. >> With Dr. Morgan, >> um, who runs the sustainability committee very well. >> Um, >> so basically, so my original understanding, so I guess maybe I I mis misunderstood when I first um [snorts] read the email. Um, my original understanding was that it was basically condensed that we weren't going to have that. soil and water representative because we have the sustainability but the the recommendation is to if if one is on the sustainability committee they are also on soil and water >> well that's one way we could look at it we could pull ourselves out of it but I mean you you've been on you're not currently on but you have been on yes the soil and water do you think it is advantageous for us to be on that or not I mean

that that's why I have discussions [sighs] >> I do um >> you know Additionally though, I know that a lot of the reason when we were first talking about initially the soil and water committee, if I remember the conversation correctly, it was to make some of the connections so that we could make our programs and our schools a healthier environment due to the pesticides and all of the different things as well as increasing our gardens and our garbage gardens use and and all of that. And I know that that's been the primary focus of the sustainability committee. So that I think um was my thought process in it. I don't think it's I think it's still a valuable committee for us to be part of. Um but I know that the sustainability committee is is

making progress in that in that vein. Um so you know will of the board I'm I'm >> amendable to >> to hearing points and discussing it further with the board if we need to. Um >> and I'm fine either way. I mean, you know probably more about it or do you know more about it than I do because you're on on sustainability and we're on uh soil and water. So >> I think it's doing the same thing twice or is it >> No, I think that what soil and water has done um and I know Dr. Hamilton you're part of that one but um they have provided a lot of resources for us curriculum wise and just service-wise. I know they come into the schools and offer trainings and and different classes and such throughout

various schools in the district. Um I think it's a valuable uh relationship. Um Dr. Hamilton, would you be willing to speak to what your thoughts are on on all of that? >> Yes, I think that relationship is very valuable. >> I can hear I can actually hear you. Thank you. >> That's fixed. And those opportunities are there for us to be able to disseminate that um information. Soil and water also gets very involved in other things as far as um ecological kinds of things um in our environment and our town. So, I do see that connection and what she was perhaps thinking about the connection and how it probably might be um a good idea maybe to have like the overlaying of the people so that everyone is involved on both ends so that you're

not duplicating that work but that you're combining those works into one um combined effort. >> Okay. So, I'll go back and I'll make a motion that we add the following words to the bottom of section nine. Additionally, the two board members will serve on the soil and water conservation committee. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Oh, very good. Thank you. We got this down. All right. First and second. Uh any discussion? If not, uh all in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. Passes 20. So 2230 as amended. We'll go on to 2230 onto the full board. Go on to the next one. Board attorney. We have seen this one like a million,12 times. Um, and it kind of comes back and forth and we can change the wording a little bit more

if we want to to confirm it. But I actually, and I talked to Miss Justice again about this yesterday, uh, when she called, um, and I really think that it's already answered in here. uh more think about it. I mean as if if I call our attorneys to say I have a question about X Y or Z and he says well give me 24 hours or 48 hours to go ahead and respond to you then just having me respond to the whole board and say hey I reached out here's my question and I'm waiting for a response. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I mean you know and then follow up later on with the with the response. Um and that's what it says here pretty much to me. Every board member must

be informed of the question or response by the and and so the response there would be I'm waiting for a response. I mean that could be the response uh by the requesting member within 24 hours or prior to any board or committee meeting whichever comes first unless we'd rather use other wording which is fine too. So I in sitting down trying to figure out how we could possibly what I had added was um the sentence and I I'm not married to it. So um it says every board member must be informed of the question response by the requesting board member within 24 hours of receiving each. >> Okay. >> I didn't know if that was something we wanted to keep. If we want to leave it as is, I'm also fine with that. But I

was trying to figure out a way to adjust it so that it was a little more clear for >> Yeah, I I think that is I think that's a good way to say it. At least it is clearer and you know, as you receive a response, you know, you you still need to give out to share with that everyone that I've asked this question. Waiting a response and then you when I get the response. So So could you say that again? >> All right. So, I move that we insert um this sentence. Every board member must be informed of the question and response by the requesting board member within 24 hours of it of receiving each. >> Okay. And I'll second that. I think that's good. That does make it very clear um that once

you get that second response, you know, a full response, you have to do that. Okay. All right. We have a first and second. All in favor of passing 2610 on to the full board as amended, please signify by saying I. >> I. All passes 0. All right. 2310 is our next policy. Um we have several options in front of us here. Uh for this one here, let's go ahead and jump right in. We'll look at each one separately. The first one is the original the original. >> Thank you. >> We have the second one right below it. is the is having number six say New Hover County Board of Education meeting safety order and public conduct. >> That's the that's the last one. So the second one is um Miss Bradford. >> Bradford. So >>

edits and then the final one I believe the attorneys went through and kind of condensed. I think it might have been Mr. Krabkkey. >> Yeah. >> Okay. [snorts] So that'll be and that would be section six or number six. >> Yes. Okay. >> All right. So, what are your thoughts, Miss Mason? >> I think that um that section six that our attorneys uh drafted for us is very concise. I think it flows better and there's um a little less redundancy. It's we need it to be as clear as possible and I think that that that does that. >> Okay. >> So, I mean I move that we accept six as the changes to policy 2310. Okay. All right. I I'll second that. We'll bring it on to the whole board for discussion then. So, um

we have a first and second to pass uh policy >> 2310 on to the full board as amended. Please signify by saying I if you agree. >> I that goes on to full board as amended. 2310. You you have all that. Good. Just make sure we're flowing. Well, here [snorts] >> now we're on to the >> Now we're on to NCSBA. >> Fixed here. All right. Excuse me one second. Just drop that. There we go. We're back in. All right. Very good. All right. So now we go on to the uh changes given to us by the NCSBA for fall changes. First policy in front of us is 1740 um that section D2 as being the change and then then also in the cross references. So the changes uh all meetings and hearings conducted pursuant

to this policy will be in private unless the open meetings law requires the board or hearing to be open in the public. What would Mr. uh Mr. Blanchard what would where would there be a situation we have a public meeting? >> That's my question >> for agreements. >> Yeah. >> Agreements against a board member for example. >> Okay. If it if it doesn't fall into the profile or you >> Mhm. they don't have to be open. >> And it's the same for the next one, too. >> I didn't I was I was trying to think about that one. >> I was too. Yeah. I couldn't think of it. I was like, what what could make it not be closed? >> But that makes sense. >> Well, I I make a motion we carry 1740 onto

the full board as I guess is amended here. >> Second. >> Okay. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. I think there may be other examples besides that for example generalized by policy. >> So we are on D4 and 1750 excuse [clears throat] me >> same thing >> and it basically says exactly the same thing. So >> yeah and that was my only question too. >> I will make a motion that we carry 1750 as amended onto the full board. >> Second. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I scared you by saying this with the old me, didn't I? [snorts] >> All right. Next, confidentiality. This one we have section. Uh, this is 2125 confidentiality. Confidential. Uh, and it's basically the whole section C. >> That's statuto. >> Oh,

is that okay? >> I mean, I didn't realize this was in here, but I do know that that statute just recently. >> Okay. >> That explains a lot of it. >> Yeah, that that was my question. >> So, I'll make a motion we carry 2125 on to the full board as amended. >> Um second. >> Okay. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I carries two. All right. Next we have 2127 member board technology use board member excuse me technology use that is section 3B and I had a question uh about that and I'm going to look over to my right again. Um, so if a board member, say for instance, is at a school or school function, gets their picture taken at Laney High School and and the lady mascots's in the

background, would we now be in violation of >> 2127. >> We can't share that to our social media basically is my assumption. But if it's shared on the school social media, that's a different story because that's the school's >> Yeah. And I'm trying to figure out how you balance the the need for for the board members to be able to do anything that any other parent would be able to do with um with with their status as as board members. Um I I think you're the concern that this policy change seems to be driven by is an endorsement type concern. You know what I mean? that you don't want board members private social media to suggest that whatever they're posting on there is endorsed or the position of the school board or anything other than

their own position >> and and I don't know right off the top of my head how you would word it to say that. I think for me the I mean being a mom in the district one I have boys in two schools and so if there's things that are happening at both of those schools I then I don't where where do I draw that line as far as what I can and can't post but um also I know I love to share like the amazing things that are happening so I can't do that anymore. Is that the is that what I'm understanding? I mean it >> I I I mean I I'm not quite sure where where did this come from? The language come from? Was it proposed by a board member or NC school

boards? >> Oh, the school board association. >> I I I'm thinking that looking at it the way we just discussed it right here. the I believe the problem here that they're trying to get at is the endorsement or the the that's the what I'm trying to tell you is you're going to need to use a little bit of discretion and common sense in application of the policy rather than worry about the way the policies if that makes sense. What you're talking about isn't a situation where you're utilizing the name, logo or trademark on your personal social media. You're just >> I'm sharing it. So, I'm sharing the new Hanover County Schools post if it's an awesome thing like >> praising our principles and stuff. >> I'm gonna make a motion. Why don't we hold 2127

in policy for a month? That way we have more time to really >> I was going to say we can we can contact the >> school board. I think that's reasonable >> to figure out the association to figure out what what their you know rationale for that is. Well, I mean staff know Dr. B. Well, I I would also ask if you can clarify if the name of the school board or the name of the school system is in the tagline of your social media page. Is that the same thing as an endorsement? >> That's true. I mean, I think we really need to flesh this out before we bring the whole >> I agree. So, >> I'll make a motion we hold 2127 in policy so we can really flush this out for next

month. >> Second that. >> All right. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. Hi. So 2127 will be held. We'll >> giving you my first homework item for the day. >> There you go. >> And uh it you know I know December we may or may not have a meeting. So if not we'll bring it up in January, but >> one of those two for sure. Next the next meeting we have for sure. >> Yes. >> All right. 31 01. Um section A right here at the beginning. [clears throat] Um, it's just talking about 43 college and career ready pathway providing opportunities for college remediation. I guess pretty straightforward and it also has uh in references. So, I'll make a motion we carry 3101 onto the full board as amended. >> Uh,

second. >> All right. Any discussion? If not, all in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. Step passes two. Dual enrollment goes on. All right. 2220. Technology use for the educational program. There she is again. Look. [laughter] You're going to ask me questions, aren't you? Yep. I am. Okay. And so this one has the first paragraph and then B third paragraph. Is it? Um, Miss Branson, would you like to kind of walk us through this one? >> This is again um to go along with new legislation that they've got because they want to make sure that when you are purchasing technology, whether it be hardware or software that you are making sure it meets certain requirements, not sharing student information is part of it. And that's what the that first piece is. Um, I

do ask for in under section A where it says the Educational Technology Advisory Committee if we could change that to the media technology advisory committee because we don't have an educational technology advisory committee. Okay. Just that that name change there. >> Yeah. And then the the last one literally is is again from legislation where we're supposed to um evaluate the cost, flexibility, lifespan um um associated with the resources that we purchase. Um and there's a new law that requires us to provide reports on a yearly basis to DPI on this. So just meeting those requirements. >> Okay. Very good. >> I will move that we strike educational under a and insert media. >> Okay. I'll second that. Then [snorts] we'll make a motion or I'll make a motion that we carry the whole policy as

now amended by uh NCSBA and locally uh by Miss Brenson on to the full board. >> All right. >> As amended. >> Second. >> Okay. All right. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> I. >> Passes two zero. We're swimming here. All right. >> We all not quite. We all get to get >> We got a million. >> Yeah, I know. All right. Carrying on to in uh internet safety. This one has section C and then >> 3226 or 3225. I have 3225. >> 325. I skipped one. I'm sorry. >> You said the right name. You just used the wrong number. >> Yeah. 3225. Technology >> on page 67 use. Okay, >> those are you using the hard on the old paper method. All right, 3225 is section B1 and Centally >>

again this is basically on the same legislation. Um I will say that under B1 we already block our students from accessing social media platforms. Um I think even if teachers wanted to expressly allow it, we don't allow it. So they'd have to be doing it on something else. So that's not an issue for us. We're already doing that. >> Great. >> That answers. >> And then the back part is talking about um I guess number 18 is just adding data or information to just be more specific in their terms there. And then under C, again, it goes back to age appropriate, making sure that we are blocking content that's that's harmful to minors. Again, they're adding that piece about um applications that protect against the disclosure of personal information, protecting kids information, which we have

got a process in place for that. So, we're good there. >> I love we're ahead of the head of the curve on this one. So, that's great. I'll make a motion we carry 3225 as amended onto the full board. >> Uh second. >> All right. First and second. Any discussion? If not, all in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. That par that carries carries and carries both. Uh two zero. Now we'll go on to 33 uh 3226. 3226. Internet safety. Miss Princeton. Can >> I just say ditto? It's the same thing. [laughter] >> All right. I make a motion we carry 3226 on to the full board. >> Second. >> All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> I. Carries. >> Web page development. Let's see. How about Miss M. It's

all Miss Brenson. That was >> 3 uh 2E. >> Yep. >> Page 306 81. [snorts] Did you >> find it? >> I had 326. So, oh C, I'm sorry. see somewhere. >> Yeah. >> 2. >> Basically, that's just saying that the school system is not responsible for maintaining board members websites. >> So, >> I'm sure that's legislation, but that's not an issue. >> But I think it would also bring up the same question about whether or not it's a personal web page when it identifies you as a board member. I agree because it does say the school system is not responsible for personal websites or web pages created or maintained by members of the board of education that includes I would say campaign web pages things like that. Do we want to hold this one

just to make sure or are we >> I mean that that one strikes me as >> it's pretty straightforward. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Okay. It it really isn't any substantive change at all. I don't think it's a little bit change in the in the language, but it's it's not substantive. >> Okay. All right. I'll make a motion we carry 32277322 onto the full board as amended. >> Uh second. >> All right. All uh any discussion hearing? None. Carry on with a vote. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> I. [snorts] That's two. >> All right. I believe our next one is 3,400. evaluation of student progress. Would you like to take this one? >> Thank you. >> The only change on this one that I saw was on page two of

three where that pass may be used for elective courses but may not be used for non-elective graduation. And so that's really from the old um or by credit recovery, credit by demonstrated mastery where we used to give a pass fail for that and we can no longer do that anymore. Um which is also aligned to our policy 3420. It comes out of the grad policy 009 in the state board of education and that is um so that is that I would also just like to point out on page one um at the in paragraph number three next to the last line it still references power school and then in paragraph number four um fifth line from the bottom it also references power school. I would like to um present for your consideration that we just

changed that to the student information system. And so then when Infinite Campus, we have that no longer one of these years, right? It's still just the student information system. >> Okay, that sounds a good good change. I'm glad I asked. Thank you, Dr. Hamilton. Okay, I make a motion we carry 344 uh 3,400, excuse me, onto the full board as amended uh by uh NCSBA and Dr. Hamilton. Uh, >> well, >> by us. >> Can I ask one question, President? >> Sure, absolutely. >> I thought that we are no longer allowed to use FF as a designation on page two, >> right? I almost missed that one as well. But the nuance to that is it may be used for a student who does not have a passing grade. And previously, we gave it to

a student just based on absences if they still had a passing grade. That's the nuance of that. Mhm. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Any discussion? Dr. All right. Hearing none. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> I. Passes two. >> Next. We're 3460. Graduation requirements. Dr. Hamilton. I have the changes on page five. Page. The only thing that so it depends on when you enter ninth grade as to what your graduation requirements are. It gets quite convoluted sometimes. And so the difference is on the um page five of 11 of the policy number four it says future ready core course of study credit required for students entering 9th grade for the first time in 26 and 27 and thereafter. So before they change

that again in a few more years, for right now that's just going to be and thereafter. >> Okay. >> And that was all I saw in that one. >> And then while there at the page eight says applied science is no longer an option starting. >> Oh yes. Correct. Yes. Yes. Yes. That's right. Applied science is no longer an option. It's just physical and earth or environmental. Yes. And these are students on occupational course of study. >> Would you like to make a motion? I move that we um send this on to the board. Policy 3460 onto the board. >> I'll second that. Any discussion? Hearing none. Carry it on with a vote. All in favor, proceed notify by saying I. >> I. Passes to zero. Carry on with 4050 over there. Children of military.

>> Sir, >> page 99. >> Oh, yep. And that's just a section A where it says uh reserve components of United States Army and it also adds in space force. >> It's also on page 405 or 102. They added Space Force. >> Space Force. Okay. Very good. >> Okay. I move that we uh send this on to the board. >> I'll second that. Let's vote. All in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> I. 4050 as amended goes on to the full board. 4120. Uh let's see. Residential requirements, doicile or residential. Uh we have page five and then um the cross references at the bank and five deletions. >> All right. I'm I make a motion we carry 4120 onto the full board. Second. All >> in favor, please signify by saying I. >>

I. Two zero. And we have to stop now because I'm out of space. There's no spaces left in my sheet. >> How do you Why are you putting them over there? >> Cuz they're amended. >> They are. I don't Okay. >> All right. >> You organize them differently than I do. >> Okay. All right. So, anyway, we'll carry on with uh 4240 section D. Is that a change of views? I think um I just wanted to highlight we already do these changes, correct? Like this is this just appears to be we report um to the state board. We already we already do this. Miss Varna. >> Yes. Include everybody today. >> I would ask for um either Dr. Barnes or Miss Geller to um be able to re reiterate part D. I do believe um

this is consistent with how we have operated in the past. >> Miss Giller. >> Yes, it certainly is. It's just more specific. Um but it's exactly how we operate and it's just outlining um you know what the basis is of what will happen which is possible revocation of the license. >> Great. Thank you. >> We tend to over report >> anyway >> for our own peace of mind >> which is never a bad thing. >> Yes. And I I see the note here that it was um just recommended for clarity. So So I would agree with Geller. >> Perfect. Miss Nation, would you like to make a motion? I move that we send this on to the board. >> I will second that. Let's vote. Uh all in favor of 4240 going on to the

full board, please signify by saying I. >> I. All right. Next, we have 4270, which is concussion and head injury. Watch some football yesterday and one of my Steelers guys actually went out with a concussion. So, it happens unfortunately all too often. Uh the big change here is section G. We've been talking a lot about wrestling lately. Uh but it does uh say that athletic trainers and first responders uh need to be at wrestling matches and tournaments. Is there Miss Farm? Let me go back to you. >> And and we are already operating um in this fashion. >> Awesome. Very good. Very good. Well, I'll make the motion we carry 4270 onto the full board as amended. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Okay. Any discussion? Hearing none. All in favor, please signify by

saying I. >> I. That carries also. Two zero. >> Actually, Miss Farm, let me ask that question. What What you know, we obviously have trainers at football games, but what is it all sports now or just wrestling or? >> Right. It's not all sports. Um [clears throat] the interesting thing is um with football uh we have to have trainers at practice, >> but with wrestling it's just going to be um for um matches and for tournaments. >> Okay. Very good. All right. Next on my list is 5160 reporting to external agencies and that's section A report according obligations of the super and here he comes superintendent perfect timing. Um I think that all I saw was that change. Yeah. In section 8. Oh no, there's more over here. uh in section two reporting by principal

central office personnel of certain misconduct by licensed employees. Any discussion or questions? >> The only thing I have written is um is this consistent and what have we been doing or if we have been doing this does this just support everything we've already been doing? >> Let's ask Miss Keller. >> It does support what we're doing. there's um a process and and a flow of how this works already in place. Um so any of those terminations or notification um would come through my office directly to DPI. So um we're overseeing that and making sure the process [clears throat] is followed. >> Miss Mason, would you like to make a motion? >> I move that we send 5160313 on board >> and I will second that. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I.

Passes two. Next we have 6310 if I skipped some which I don't think I did. Organization of student transport and just when Dr. Morgan was thinking he wasn't going to speak today I'm going to call on him. Dr. Morgan, would you please run us through this one? >> I have no comments for this. >> Okay. >> It's simply adding that we won't put language in there that says we are doing things in line with state board of education requirements. I think that we are already doing this. >> Great. Super. Well, then I'll make a motion we carry 6310 onto the full board as amended. >> Uh second >> first and second. All in favor, [snorts] please signify by saying I. >> I. All oppose. Like sign. Since there nobody else here, we'll carry on. That

carries two. And one of my favorite topics, retirement [snorts] 7910. Uh the only changes I saw were in the legal references. Uh could you could you share what that is? The general statute 1354 and five. >> From looking at the blue language right there, it looks like the anti- pension spiking. Is that the >> spiking? Is that what it is? And this just clarifies that we won't that unless our policy has it already in their contract or in policy, we won't um make up the difference >> when there's a a spiking situation. And that seems is that right? that would also be consistent with LG, you know, um LGC and requirements at least. >> It's pretty rare that we have a spike, isn't it? >> We currently have, I believe, 11 people that could possibly

be el 13 that could possibly be eligible, but normally by the time those individuals retire, they are not eligible for spiking. I think over the past three years we've had one or two situations but it didn't amount to very much money. >> And obviously your retirement face I mean four highest years of employment and sometimes if someone has jumped up suddenly into a role like I don't know that they didn't really put in enough for earlier that it could spike. Is that accurate? >> So if they stay in long enough then the spike it'll it'll >> the spike flattens out on it own. Yeah. to work itself out. >> Did you hear that? Stay in it long enough. >> Yeah. >> Point. Yeah. Like 20 years. >> That's not the point of this at all.

[laughter] >> But this is a good riskmanagement uh phrase for us because it does make sure that people can't come back later and say, well, you know, you have to pick up the the school board has to pay out of pocket the difference on on the spike amount. >> Very good. Okay. Well, I'll make a motion that we carry 7910 on to the full board as amended. >> Second. >> First and second. Any discussion? Hearing none. All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> All right. And that ends the ones that are substantial. The rest of them are just kind of minor things. 1,600. Uh, they actually just add in the word delivery system. Think that's it? Yeah. I move that we send 1,600 on board >> as amended. I'll second that.

>> All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> 232. Again, not a major change. Um, >> the uh state of Canon versus Yeah. legal reference deletion. I move that we send this on to board. >> I will second that. All in favor for saying I. >> I. >> That was 2302. >> 302. Next we have um 4130 discretionary admission. >> I move that we send this on to the board. >> And again it's just a deletion in the uh legal references. I will second that. All in favor of passing 4130 onto the full board, please signify by saying I. >> I. Carries 20. Uh 4150 school assignment. Had a lot of discussion of that lately, but this is again a minor change. >> Okay, it's >> again just some changes in the

legal references. All right. I'll make a motion we carry this on to the uh 4150 on to full board for discussion. >> Second. >> All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> 4150. >> We're almost done. >> Oh, no. I'm I'm going to talk really slow now. All right. 4152. Unsafe and uh unsafe school choice transfer. >> The last page. >> It's the last page again. Yeah. I move that we send this on to the board. >> I will second that. All in favor of passing 40 4152 on to full board as amended, please signify by saying I. >> I. All opposed. Okay. 4152. And look at that, the last one. 7425 school administrator contracts. And we have again a deletion in the legal references. Um, is there any major reason why

they were doing that? Would you say? >> No. On that one, it's just uh changing the statutory section that they're citing. >> Okay. >> It may have moved in the general statutes. >> Okay. All right. Uh, I'll make a motion we carry 7425 onto full board as amended. >> Second. >> All in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. All right. Well, I know we love each other's company, but >> I move that we adjourn, [laughter] >> but Okay. >> Is there a second to no second? >> Listen. >> All right, I'll second it. All in favor of a journey, please signify by saying I. I. We are ajourned. Good job, everybody. Thank you.
