Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to East Slung Meadow where we're going to be casting the Lady Spartans of East Slung Meadow against a North Cicero Northsar out of Syracuse, New York. The Spartans come in here just after a loss from Frontier. A tough game up there, four-2. Got a young young Spartan team out here today. It's 11 o'clock. 72 degrees here. No weather impacting this game whatsoever. So, we're going to see how we go. Was talking to some of the parents down from um Syracuse. Took them about four hours to get here. They're going to be playing the Minichog Wilham High School field hockey team tomorrow. Um, I believe that they've had two games under their belt. Talking to some of the parents, a lot of sophomores out here for this Syracuse team. And
just a disclosure that uh my name is Denny Denal. I'm here with my team member Johnny Martin. We've never done this before, so please bear with us. We do have some consultants right in front of us if we have any questions on any fouls or any kind of judgment calls. We started off here. Grace Guy up the field right hand say we got a foot foul right off the bat coming down over the 50. We got the freshman Ava Pelagrino looking to insert. Inserts over to junior number two Gracie Martin. Hands it up to Greta. Really nice over there. Julia Gray trying to struggle over there. We got a foul. Julie's just going to slap that down over the 50 to the 45 yd line. >> Abby man with the ball. pressing it. Coming on
over. Gracie Martin coming up to defend. Number nine, Moreno with the ball just outside the 30- yd line. Okay, Syracuse ball in the insert. Grace Martin with a great play up to the 3035 inserting it. Well, we are a young team coming into the insert. We're going to have Syracuse still has it. Plays it out. Ella Bailey defending and we're going to have an interference called there. Spartan ball. Off to a good start here, Denny. Should it be a competitive matchup? Very talented team from North Cro against a young, hungry, talented team from Esau Meadow. Should be a great game. >> Yeah, I mean Leon Meadow graduated 12 seniors last year. Uh so this is a fairly young team. I'm going to try to make a count of uh let me see how many freshmen
we have out there right now. We have one, two, three, four freshman and a freshman goalie, Emma Mau. Usually four on the field at any one time for Islam Meadow. Possession Islam Meadow. >> Grace Martin starting it up. Shoot it down. Here's Mattie Ferrells who's our senior leader. Try to defend. Ava Pelgro coming in. >> Okay. Aa that's going to be a bounce ball. So, nothing really happening here in the first three minutes. There's 12 minutes 24 seconds in the first quarter. Bailey got the ball midfield. >> What a special young player she is, huh, Denny? A motor that does not quit. A great teammate and what a good field hockey player. She's going to be fun to watch over the next few years. >> Oh, she's going to be great. This team's going to
be fun this year. Unexpected what's going to happen. We just lost to Frontier earlier in the week, but we started out great with a win against Mitchog and a win against Greenfield and then taking on Westfield beating them eight nothing and oh wait coming out here >> Matty Ser's coming in to grab that and she does she's going to come out to Abby man. >> Good job resetting it to Grace Guy. >> Oh no that's Avery Pelgro >> Stays red. Mattie's going to try to center that ball. Nice pass >> in there. >> We got Abby man number 13 in there. >> Had an opportunity there for Islam Meadow going the other way. >> Yeah, looked pretty good. >> Pretty good there. >> Nor Cro to clear it. Great play by Kendall Reed to keep
it in play. >> Spartan goal. I believe that was Grace Guile, >> assisted by number four, Kendall Reed. Grace Guile, senior here on this team. Real good leader. Kendall coming up as a sophomore. Played a lot in her freshman year. Really has improved this year. >> Denny, what a great way to start early in the career. >> So, we got a one- nothing lead with 11 minutes and 10 seconds in the first quarter. get some get some momentum here for the young Spartan team. >> We we would like to thank our amazing Spartan fans below us here for guiding us through the first few minutes of this quarter. >> And uh and welcome to the Syracuse fans who've traveled four hours to take part in this contest. >> East off to an early lead. Guy
from Reed. 11 minutes to go in the first quarter. Looks like Syracuse is going to have the ball in the 30 going in towards the Spartans. Got to stay five yards apart from that. If you come five yards in, they usually give a warning and then follow it up with a card. You know, I've been following this game since my daughters uh have been involved in this game for about six, seven years. I still don't know the rules at sometimes and this parent. So, we got uh we got some consultants in front of us. >> Oh, Syracuse coming in. It's coming in the circle. Inserted Gwen Casperi and >> stays norro ball. >> Okay. And that's what I think a lot of the strategy is and keep the ball in the half circle so you
get a corner. >> Danny, what do you think of the start for Eon Meadow here so far? >> Great great confidence builder, especially after that loss to Frontier. Get some confidence back. and Cisero ball outside. That's number Let me see who that is. That's number 19. >> Isabel Normally >> and we've got a corner for North Cro. >> Okay, first corner of the day. We're going to see what their strategy is here soon. >> Let me tell you what our strategy is. Don't let them score. >> That's a good strategy. It's a good strategy as the Spartans put their mask on. That's a new rule in the MIA this year. You have to have the mass in the in the goal coming out just to uh make sure nobody gets hurt. Uh the insert here
goes outside the circle back in. Oh, that could be a >> change of possession. Missed on the >> Oh, really nice. Greg G up the right sideline to Kendall Reed. Kendall Reed running. Abby man chasing behind. Let's see if Kendall can get that. We got a foot foul. Spartans. >> I gotta tell you, Denny, I'm uh pleasantly surprised at the start of the Spartans. You know, they had a tough game, as you said, a couple days ago. Uh they've had a lot of a lot of practices, physical practices. You know, some talk among the girls is that they were definitely feeling it physically. So, it's great to see them start the way they started today. They look like they're playing together. They're around the ball and up to an early one- nothing lead. It's really
good to see from the girls. They are a really really hard fight team that plays together and I'm excited to see how this game plays out. >> Yeah, I mean they had a uh talking to a couple of the girls earlier. They said they had a great practice yesterday >> film review yesterday, right? >> Yeah, they watch film a lot here. Coach Reed has them in that room right after school and uh they watched the film and you can and you can learn a lot from the film and this again it's a young team so we don't know what to expect. We're graduating 12 seniors from last year, Western Mass champions last year. And uh so you know, we got to get it in the service here. Uh Reed Reed in the middle. Reed dishes
off to Ella. Ella Bailey out there. Grace Guy with a great get going in there. Oh, looked like somebody's foot but not called here. Shot in. >> Shot in. >> Abby man struggling for it >> and cleared out. Very nice play by Julia Gray. >> Julia Gray. Great play. >> She's been such a consistent force on that on that defense for East Long Meadow. >> Always around the ball when she needs to be. Does a great job for the Spartan field hockey team. >> She really is a pleasant athlete to be around and certainly has. We got fun metal corner here. >> So, one corner for Syracuse, one corner for Spartans here. Uh let's see what happens. Like we say, the majority of the corner should be a goal. So you're opposing one, two, three,
four defenders that have to sprint out of the goal and then you have the rest of the team sprinting in from the 50. So the odds are in your favor. So let's see what they do here. Ella Bailey to insert Grace. Grace Sky going over to Matty Ser back over to Reed. Reed trying to get to it. Grace Martin coming up from behind. Oh, really nice play by Syracuse there to clear that. Julia Gray coming out with it. >> Smart play to >> Gwen. Smart play, >> Gwen. Great clear. >> Very nice. And you know, Eastong Meadow does that a lot. They look to the outsides and they shoot it into space. Coach Reed does a good job of coaching the girls up on that. >> Never want to have it in front of the
goal. Syracuse coming down now. Really nice. Oh, Syracuse with an opportunity here. Shot on. Emma Mau with a save. Quinn clears it. Back in the circle again. >> You got Emma Mau in net. You always got a chance. Great save by Syracuse setting up again. And we got a call. We got uh >> possession east. Great save by Emma Mau. >> Control to the Spartans. >> Gwennneth. >> She's a sophomore number five. Got to get her. Oh, here we go. Matty Stills with the ball here at the 35 yd line trying to work it. We got a foot foul going. Spartan ball. Grace Sky. Grace Guy on the sideline, far sideline. Syracuse player saves it. See Kendall Reed with shot up the field. >> I mean, Denny, just watching this game uh as opposed to
the game we played a couple days ago, there's a difference in speed on the field from the girls. They look physically ready. They look They're into the game from a mental standpoint. They're playing together. This is really good to see early on in this early on in this game. >> They do. They're working the sideline. Greta just really nice play down the sideline. Matty coming. >> Caroline Coleman with a nice play up the sideline from Syracuse. >> Change of possession ball. >> Great communication out there by the Spartans. >> Really good. Looking good. So far there's uh five minutes left in the first quarter here. Pretty even play. One goal a piece so far. >> Change of possession. Ball nor Cicero. >> No substitutions yet for either team. >> Just over the fiveminute mark in
quarter number one. >> I don't know what that call was. Could be dangerous up high. >> They go dangerous sometimes. And uh you know if the ball's above the player's head, sometimes they'll call it. It's very subjective call. >> Denny, just a real quick note, gotten some messages from some of our past graduating field hockey players that are off in college. They're sending their love and best wishes to the team. So thank you guys for tuning in. We love you. We miss you. Uh thanks for supporting your girls. >> Yeah, hit that like button. Hit that like button or whatever they say on the webs. Hit that like button and like us here at the LCAT. Sponsored by LCAT. Nice little feature for the town uh to show our local youth sports. Uh the football
team last night I watched it. Great victory over Agawa. >> It was a good one. >> Coming over to our senior Greta Greta. >> Her name isn't Greta. Greta, her last name is Langan. But you're doing okay. >> Yeah, we're getting it. We're first time up here. >> Pleasantly surprised at how well things are going here. >> That Gwennneth with a great play. sophomore. Get that EON metal roster up and running will be great here. Uh oh, that's a tough call. That's a tough call on Avery Palino. What happened here? All right. Still Cisero ball. Three minutes and 25 seconds left in this quarter. You know, one zero lead by the Spartans. I I gotta be honest with you, too. I've never heard you get so many names right in one sitting in my life.
>> That's true. I do have a problem with that. People that do know me have a problem with names cross the field coming out Spartan ball. >> That was a really nice play by number 19. I can't see her number. >> Kendall Reed checking back into the game. >> 18 for Syracuse. Natalie Perion just cross it across the field. Oh, we got a problem here. Okay, here we go. Grace Martin trying it. Glenn's coming out really nice out to Kendall Reed. Kendall Reed coming up here. They like to work the sidelines. >> Coach Reed watches. >> Kendall making it look easy. >> Really looking good. What an effort. >> What an effort by Kendall on that play. Unfortunately, >> that is that is it going to be a card on someone. It appears it's going
to be a card on Kendall Reed's going to get out. Penalty. Kendall Reed. Not sure. >> Looking for clarification from the official on that call. >> So, she's going to be in the penalty box for a few. There's two minutes and 23 seconds. We're holding a one z lead. Uh Syracuse has been down here for the last two minutes. This young Spartan team won't give up. We're trying. >> Kendall ready to get her breath over there. >> We'll try to get some clarification on that call. >> Oh, we got Grace Guy coming up by herself. Lost the handle. Matty Ser coming on the left and just clears it into the area and hopefully they can keep it down there for the rest of the quarter. You got two minutes left in the quarter. Appears we
have one, two, three. We have four freshman on the team right now on the field with our three seniors are also on the field. It's uh Johnny, a mix of classmates unlike last year's 12 senior members. Well, that's what's so exciting about this team this year, bud, is that that you have a great mix of veteran players, but you also have a really, really talented group of freshman that have come up, have acclimated really well to the system, and are already not only getting quality minutes, but providing quality output to this team. They're an invaluable part of this field hockey team already, and they've only been in school for three weeks. It's really amazing when you think about it. >> It really is. And and not only do we have the the the three seniors,
they're quality leaders and they lead through positive positive motivation and just a really great great leadership here and to bring the young kids in. Here's a shot. Emma Mau Bailey bringing it out. >> And what do we got here? We got a foot foul. All right, take your time, girls. >> So we got uh 56 seconds left in the quarter. Hope we get out of this with a one zero. Gracie Martin going to clear it here. Coming over to Greta. >> Let's hope the girls dig in here for the next 40 seconds of the quarter. >> Certainly want to get it out of there. >> Keep it to a one- nothing advantage. E regroup after the quarter and hit the ground running. >> Oh boy. Here we go. >> Got to play some defense. Great
great play by Julia Gray. Number 37 out there. Always there when you need her. Just missed Grace Guyle. Just missed Grace Guyle here. Kendall Reed, her penalty is up. She's coming in with 18 seconds left in the quarter. >> Spartans back at full strength here. >> Yeah. And we got a one zero lead still. We're coming down to 10 seconds. >> Denny, my friend, first quarter comes to a close one. >> Fantastic. Good quarter for the Spartans. And a good quarter for me and you. Never done this before. This is >> You know what? I'm feeling pretty good about it. >> Yeah, it's fun. >> I have to tell you though, I I have to tell you, uh already getting text messages from the handful of people that are watching this and they said Denny
Denal is a natural. This guy is an absolute natural at this. One of them actually came from your daughter, who for those of you that don't know, Tess Denalt, Spartan field hockey player now at Bentley University on the field hockey team. She texted me and she said, "When did my dad learn all of this about the game? >> Well, it's I don't know. I don't have any answers for you, John. So, we got a one zero. Uh we got one minute and uh half till uh we start the second quarter here. It's welcome everybody having your morning coffee with each long metal uh girls field hockey team here. Exciting stuff. We're playing a team uh four hours away um from Syracuse, New York. They're going to go on tomorrow and play Minichog. That'll be interesting.
Spartans beat the Minichog ladies 3 nothing earlier in the season. So, we're going to have to see how this unfolds here. Now, Coach Reed's going to make some changes. One of the things you notice about him when he's coaching, he never wastes any time uh in in timeouts, in quarters, and at the half to try to coach up on the fly. Make adjustments as necessary. Put these kids in the best position they can be in to go out and win win another quarter. One quarter at a time. Uh right now up one nothing. Great place to be. And uh three more hopefully great quarters to go. >> Yeah, but I can just hear him through uh him talking, but I'm not getting him on my headphones. Okay, my friend. Here we go, Denny. Start of
the second quarter. >> Start of the second quarter. I don't see any changes. Uh, let me see. Oh, no. There is a one change out there, I think. Uh, let me see who we got here. We got Mattie at forward. Madison forward. Looks like Abby man's gonna center it. Grace Guy behind her. Ella Bailey on the right wing. Nor Denalt on the right. Midi Kendall Reed on the left. We have Grace Martin hold down the middle. Gwenneith Gasparini. Uh number 10 is a left defense. Actually, she's in the center. And of course we got Julie Grace out on the right >> and Greta Langden finishing up with MMR. So we're starting it off here. >> It's a foot footed pedal there. We're going to play on here. >> Really good. >> What do we got
here? We got coming out. Coming out. Coming out from the 25 yd line. >> It'll stay east long metal ball. >> Stay east long metal ball coming in from the 25 yd line. That that referee sign really screws me up because he's motioning towards the other end zone yet it's coming the other way. Doesn't help me. Not going to lie. Here we go. We get it in the circle here. Syracuse girl number 12 trying to get it out of there. >> Going to be a corner. >> Nia Ferrron get out of there. We got a quarter number two coming up for you Meadow. >> See if we can score here as Sun Meadow puts together their game plan in there and Syracuse puts their gears on. We have four players in the net going to
be coming out. What do we got in goal for Syracuse? We got uh Abby Schultz ready to defend against this corner. See what's going We got El Bailey inserting it. Ella Bailey inserts to Kendall Reed. Got the Reed shot on coming out number 18. Number 18 Natalie Kieran. >> What a great play there. What a great play there. >> Really nice. >> Change possession back to Eon Meadow. Really nice gray sky in looked like Abby man just missed. >> Great opportunity for me. I love the pressure we're presenting right now >> down in our end and >> we got 1325 left in the second quarter here. >> Great start to the one lead here. >> East Meadow High School number 12 here. Mia Ferrron coming down the sidelines. Langden with a nice play. Senior leader
number 12. Kendall Reins insert over to Grace. Grace Martin. See what Grace does with it. She's going to go up to Greta. Gret's going to fight for it. And we got a >> It's going to be a foot foul or Cisero ball. >> Okay. Cisero starting to work it down towards the field. >> Shot on that outside. >> Easy save for Mau. >> Don't know if that's going to be Syracuse ball coming. >> It is. It went off her foot. Yes, sir. >> Okay. Emma Mau in goal for your freshman. Has a number of saves in the last three games. >> She's played so well for us. >> Outstanding softball player as well. Student athlete. >> Just a competitive kid. Great student. >> Oh, Abby with a great play. Matty S's going to try to
keep it down here. Really nice. That's going to be ours. That's a foot foul on Syracuse. Mattie smartly takes it up the left. >> Very nice. Kendall Reed coming down the sideline. Coach Reed likes to work the sidelines. Put it into space to Ella Bailey coming up the middle. >> Pass. What a great pass. >> Number corner number three for Eong. Three to one in this game. >> Right. >> So another opportunity, another goal will be big here. Both teams struggling. >> Looks like East Lang Meadow has the upper hand in the second quarter here. >> As you know, Denny, with the corners, the more opportunities you get, uh the more likely we're going to be able to get a score >> and a shot on net. >> Absolutely. It's six on four with a
goalie, so you should be able to score on the majority of these. Ella Bailey inserts Grace Sky going to take it out and there rebound Meadow. >> It's in there. >> That's a Spartan goal. >> No, no, no goal. >> No goal coming out. I don't Was it a goal? >> That is Esau Meadow goal. Well, he just made a >> Well, >> correct me if I'm wrong. >> You're probably wrong. >> No, I'm not. If you replay it, he made a coming back out. Uh, right. >> Yeah. I mean, he motioned upwards. I thought it was coming out, but it is a goal. >> We've just consulted with our expert in the stance. It is indeed an East Long, >> making it two nothing Spartans. >> Abby Mian on the goal. Freshman number 13.
Pelgro trying to work it up the field to Kendall Reed. Kendall Reed on the left hand side of the 40. All right, so two nothing lead. Sean, great great great start to this. Abby man going for it on the left hand side. >> I mean, it's a two nothing lead and you were rooting against us. You thought it was no goal. What side are you on? >> Well, I'm watching the referee, sir. That's all I'm doing. >> And that referee, I don't know what you're watching. A number of >> I'm watching the game. >> I'm watching the referee. >> And I saw the ball go in the net. That's a goal. Two nothing Spartans. 1040 to go. >> He's done a great job for the Spartans over the last five years. I don't know what
his name is. I'll get it at halftime for you folks. >> The refs come out here. They tried their best. >> This is going to be a shot. >> What a shot. >> 15 yards out. >> What a shot by Kendall Reed to make it three nothing East Long Meadow. What a shot by Reed. >> Wow. Wow. Three nothing East Long Meadow. Spartan League. This young freshman team really playing well this morning. >> Great pass by me and set up Reed for a rifle. Goal number three. >> Three nothing with 10 minutes and 30 seconds in the third quarter. Okay, let's see how we adjust here. >> Don't let things out. That's going to be >> that's going to be Spartan ball >> out of bounds. It's going to be red ball. [Music] Abby mean
with the freshman uh with the assist there again. So this Spartan team not really used to losing a lot of games over the last three years. Got two Western Mass champions and two three four conference champions tied with Westfield four years ago in a controversial game up at Westfield on the grass. >> It's going to be coming out. Looks like he saw me ball. >> Okay, he saw me coming out. When I was talking to some of the Syracuse parents earlier in the game, they said there was a lot of sophomores on this team. Um they lost nine seniors, I believe, last year. >> Looks like we got a timeout, Denny. Uh, we got a timeout with 9 minutes and 32 seconds. 300 Spartans. >> Really got his team up and running. Well, >> we're
going to break for 20 seconds. All right. We're on the air. We're back here Meadow High School with the score 3 nothing Spartans and the North Syracuse Northstar zero >> looking for. >> It's actually North Cro. But I know I it's a great effort on your part. It's North Look at you know getting a lot of messages from some former players. >> We got Ava Guile who uh graduated last year. Great leader of this Western Mass champion team last year playing at Pace University down in New York. So we got some players all around the country now. It's great to watch the kids grow and some of the things that the kids said is uh such a positive learning environment and they really have fun. They really have fun. So, it just kind of feeds
itself with the younger kids. >> A great example of that, Denny, is this year with the four freshman we have uh starting at the varsity level on a very, very good East Long Meadow team. It says a lot about the culture. It says a lot about the youth program. The amount of time, attention, and energy these parents, coaches poured into these kids and the youth. It's amazing. >> Well, I tell you, talk about the youth program. We had uh a lot of our eighth grade players play the JB junior Varsity High School last year and I think that's where a lot of experience is coming into and uh that gives a lot of credit to the youth coaches. >> We get a shot >> coming out. >> It's coming out. >> Foot foul nor Islam
ball. >> Yeah. Aaron Bailey was the head of the youth uh youth league last year to last several years bringing back the Holio Valley Cup um to Eon. Great effort by Kendall Reed coming back the other way. You know, it's interesting Denny, you talk about uh the youth program. I was out here this morning uh working out and some of our high school players were out here working with second graders for a little youth clinic this morning. So, that was great to see. >> That's great stuff. That's great stuff. And I got to tell you, the seniors on this team, >> that's gonna be on that's got to be on Syracuse. She's okay. >> She's tough as nails. You're not >> Oh, we got Olivia Phillips in the game. Number 24, >> Julia Gray hustling
to the ball. 25 yd line coming out. Ella Bailey coming on there. You got to watch East territory. >> Great job clearing it out there. Greta Langan great defense. Ella Bailey coming on here. >> Going to remain North Cicero ball. >> Okay, here we go. Not a corner coming in from the ball spot. Okay, so it's at the 16 yd line. >> Oh, great effort there. >> We got here. >> Yeah. Okay, that's a stick stick violation there by Norah Denol. >> She'll probably be in trouble tonight for that >> out here. Julia Gray is so solid down there, Denny. Every time that ball is near her, >> she is. >> She She is so solid for this field hockey team. >> She is. And her six and a great give and go by by
Reed there trying to get it to to Abby man unfortunately goes out, >> you know. And John, let's talk about some of the rules here in field hockey. You can only use one side of the stick. >> We really can't talk about too many of the rules because I don't know. >> Well, we can try, but we can do our best. try uh >> provide some great entertainment value to the folks that are listening. >> Yeah. And again, it's in the lefth hand corner. >> You know, Coach Reed likes to work the sidelines. Um we got we got uh Spartan ball very quickly over to Grace Guile. >> Who's that? >> It's Olivia Phillips on the shot there. Just wide. Just wide. So Olivia Phillips has come in. She's a sophomore. Really hard shot. She
gives a really nice snapshot she she provides for this team. >> While we have a break in the action, I would be remiss not mentioning the matriarch of the Reed family, Miss Kathy Reed, in attendance. It's always great when we have a VIP show up. Welcome, Miss Kathy Reed. We hope you enjoy your afternoon at Spartan Stadium. >> Kathy's a long time resident, that's what happens when you're as old as >> I mean Christmas is be anything but a long time res. spreads throughout the Rotary here at the center of town. You know, if you ever travel through the Rotary here, it's on Ripley's Believe It or Not. Have fun with it. >> That's right. An absolute matriarch and living legend. >> All right, that ball's going out. Syracuse coming in. Uh Reed trying to
work the left side. You know, like we talked about, Johnny, they like to work the outside corners. And if we get an opportunity, Grace Guy will show you the famous move when she dribbles down the end line and then just inserts it. >> Yeah. Absolutely. And to your point, Denny, for for people that don't know, Dan Reed is also the head men's hockey coach. And when you watch the girls play field hockey, it's very much that way, right? We're never going to clear in front of the net. We're going to try to clear the ball up the sidelines, make good passes. Very, very smart style of play. >> Julia Gray working the sideline here very nicely. Very nicely >> coming down. That's a really good work by Julia Gray on the right sideline. She's got
to insert it. He's looking for >> what a great look >> Bailey at the 20 struggling for the ball. Syracuse ball just going to slap it out of there. >> Oh wow. Nice move here. Really carrying it. >> Julia Gray everywhere. >> Natalie Kieran. Very nice play there. Coming out. >> I'll tell you what, Julia Gray is having a half >> on it. >> She is playing so well. >> We really are. We really didn't know what we're going to find this season. Uh it's going to shape up to be a really fun season. Uh 422 in the second quarter. >> Yeah, barely see it. >> Inbound by Grace Martin. Let's see what happens here. >> Okay, that's really nice here. >> Great look to Kendall Reed. >> Really working the sidelines again. >> Kendall
Reed down the sideline at the line by Reed. >> That's good defensive play. Excellent play by number. >> Very nice. >> I try to get the kids from New York's names on the air. >> Great stop by Reed. >> Oh, that's there. Olivia Phillips can't quite get to it. Ella Bailey on defense here now. Ella's one of the quicker kids on the field. You'll see. >> True freshman by the way. >> North Dalt over there is a true >> freshman >> Julia Gray just absolutely foot foul thereough tough >> and I don't know how >> just asking her just asking her to bring it back where the foul occurs amazed at how these reps can see things from 40 yards away I'm amazed at it they do a really good job they don't get paid
a lot of money >> okay I don't know what that call was a push >> like a push okay we got over to carrying it back to Grace Martin. Right. That's a really good setup there. >> There we go. >> Pelro trying to get it. Can't quite get it. It's a slap shot down the middle. Going over to see what we got here. Oh, we got Olivia Phillips trying to get to that ball on the right hand side. Olivia taps it up. Falls over. Okay, Syracuse coming up. >> It's our ball. Spartan ball again. >> Just near the two-minute mark in the first half where Islam leads three to nothing. >> Really good really good start to this this game. Uh 22 Gray Sky coming in when it's when it's convenient. Greta coming in here.
Gret is going to work that sideline. Senior leader for us. Eva gonna lift the middle and it >> great another great opportunity for East Law Meadow there. >> If you can get it in the middle more times than not, you have a good chance to get the corner. Syracuse with a clear >> a really nice play to with a couple fancy moves here in the middle of the 30 yd line. Bringing it up. Get a push. Get a push. >> Spartan fans not happy about that call. >> Not happy about it. But do they really know what they're talking about? Probably not. >> Well, that's that's great. That's a great point. >> Let the refs ref >> That's a great point. >> And I will tell you the Spartans parents are really supportive of this
program. They're in the fundraising and hosting uh pasta parties. It's really a good good group of people here with the back of the stick going to come up try to feed it to her feed it >> going to remain metal ball Denny with just under a minute to go in the first half leads three to nothing >> out of bounds there it's going to be north ball >> you can get out of here uh with a three nothing lead be really really challenging to over Two quarters for Syracuse. There's a missed pass coming on. >> Great senior leadership to the center. Mattie just can't get to it. Great hustle by Grace Guy. Number 22. >> Grace uh wearing that right knee brace. Got hurt last year. Dislocated her knee. Uh has come back very nicely,
very nicely to recover from that injury. Actually happened at Frontier last year. Final seconds of the half where metal leads three to nothing. >> Julia and there we go. We're at 300 East Long Meadow Spartans and the North Syracuse Northstar here at East Long Meadow. didn't though. This is way better. >> I got one minute. >> Greta Lang. All right, welcome back to East Long Meadow High School. Uh we're about to start the second half of this game. East Long Meadow leading 3 nothing against the North Syracuse Northstars. It's been a uh fairly dominant game, John, wouldn't you say? Uh for the Spartans, >> super super impressed with how the girls came out to start this game. Uh looked well rested. Uh you can tell that they've really dug in and evaluated the film and
their progress over the last week and they they showed up and came out ready to play. It's great to see and hopefully hopefully the second half mirrors that that first half effort because it was fun to watch. >> It really was. And just for a note, the Spartan midfield is containing three freshman in Norol Ela Bailey and Ava Pelgro. >> So fun to see. >> So fun. It's gonna be a fun four years. >> So fun to see. >> Oh yeah. Nor Denalt has the ball. She's going to insert it. Here's a slap shot down the middle. >> Great. Great drive. And >> it's Abby man coming down the right hand side to Grace Guyle. Grace Guyle. >> Stacy SL ball. >> Stacy slum middle ball. Okay, who do we got down here? Look. >>
Oh, what do we got here? Uh, I think he got to stay within five yards here. Number 16. I think >> what's interesting is we were given a card penalty for that same call in the first half. Maybe after a warning. >> Well, sometimes they give a warning and then they give the card. So, that's what I've observed. >> And you are a trained observer. >> I try. I try. I try. That's going to be >> out of bounds. >> She slung at a ball. Got it down in their field for the first minute of the game. Promising start. We got number number one for Syracuse. Haley Pangaro moving the ball up smartly. Mia Ferrroni going to insert it here at the 37 yd line right down the middle. >> Okay, we got Grace Martin
making a reverse turn >> taking the ball. Really nice insert to Grace Guyle. Grace Guyle taking it up the field. Great idea. Great look. >> Really nice play by number 11 Carly Kovia for Syracuse. >> Ella Bailey inserts it right to Abby Man. Abby man struggling in the middle. Gained possession. It looks like Grace Martin's going to come up with that one. >> Matty Sel smartly puts it in the middle. >> Looks like coach's a bit upset. He would have liked to seen him carry it a little bit more before the pass there. Yeah, he's big on that. Grace with a dribble here coming into the to space to Matt >> Matty shot on net her own rebound >> what a shot >> just missing Grace Guile on the reverse shot from about the 12
yd line >> shot up above the net >> that was a fun exchange there by long meadow >> that really look got dominant down here that really looked Northstar is bringing it up. >> Great hustle there by >> a really nice slap shot. You got an opening person down here. Number one, Haley Pagaros wide open with the shot. Emma Mau with the save. >> The gatekeeper down there. The gatekeeper with another great save. >> She's the gatekeeper and we got her for the next four years. >> Fantastic team here. >> So, we're going to be coming out of 25 yardd line going into Spartan uh territory. First time that uh Syracuse has had the ball on this side during the half. 12 minutes left in the third quarter. Number 12, Mia Feroni going to insert.
>> What a great pick there by Grace. >> Grace Guy coming down. Takes her time. Dribbles smartly. Very few mistakes in her game. And what a great Matty >> Sos 21. Matty Sos, but it just dribbles out. So, so Syracuse ball, >> what a phenomenal idea by Guy coming down the sideline. Great dish to Sirl. Just couldn't keep up with it down towards the end of the field. >> And it really shows how this team likes to put the ball in spaces. They put it in the right hand down space and let the player go get it and then try to insert it into the middle. Really smart play. The kids are starting to get it now, so it's really starting to look fun. Chris Sky in there. Oh, a nice lift to Abby man.
Abby man going to run to that. That's in the circle. And we got Norah Denalt. That should be a corner. So Norah Denalt hitting the ball into the defender's feet produces a corner number one in the second half. >> Another great opportunity here for Eastan Medal to capitalize. >> Such a great opportunity. Such a great opportunity. And like we said, the majority of your corners should be scored. If you look at the collegiate level, a lot of it's very fast. And the rule is that the ball has to go outside the line where the where you're looking at the Spartans. It's got to come outside that half circle and then back in until you can shoot it. So she's going to take it out. Back in slap shot. >> Another corner off the foot of
a North Sister defender. >> Okay. So that was an insert into Guile who Gule took it out. Put it back in. Slap shot on goal and hopefully goes off one of the Spartan sticks. Let's see who's going to Grace. Sky is going to be inserting it here. Let's see where they go with it. See where we go with it. Gray Sky insert to Mattie. Matty shot in. Okay. Okay. It was a good opportunity coming back out. >> So, two great opportunities there for Islam. Weren't able to capitalize. It's going to be North Cisco ball. Little under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter. So far, another great great start to the quarter by Islam. A lot of offensive pressure and another opportunity right here. >> Where's that rebound? Ela struggling for it. And we
got a Syracuse ball coming out. Here's a drive. Ela stops it smartly. >> Foot foul ball. Denny. >> Yeah. I mean, we're really keeping it down there this quarter. Things look good. Got AA Pelgrino out there. Someone someone's running the sideline here. That's Mattie Sos. Can't quite get it in Denalt out there and off her foot. Syracuse ball. They're just trying to drive it down. Get it on the other side of the field. >> Greta Langden over there. Senior leader. >> Good defensive play. >> Really good play. just >> Okay, we got Nor Denalt there coming out. >> I'll tell you what, what a gritty young player she is. Tough as nails. She's going to be great over the next four years for East Law Meadow. So much fun to watch. >> I think that
this whole group of kids is going to be fun to watch. >> Nora's sister Tess, as we mentioned earlier, a freshman at Bentley University. She's continuing her athletic journey on the field hockey team. >> And here we go. We got an opening here. if she can get it to Grace. Grace Guile in the middle. >> What a pass shot. >> What an unbelievable exchange. >> What a play by East Long Meadow. >> Shooting. >> What a beautiful, >> beautiful setup by East Long. That's >> They're going to replay that for you folks at home in slow motion. That was a really pretty play up there. >> Grace Guy to Matty. Senior to senior. really pretty. We got a four nothing lead. Eight minutes left in this quarter, the third quarter. >> What a fun exchange.
That's the way it's supposed to look. >> Exchange. I think we have who is uh uh we got Kendall Reed stepped up on left mid. It looks Kendall Reed in the game here. >> It's a change of position for her, right Denny? >> Uh well, he changes them around from forward to mid. Um and they know what to do. >> A really surprising uh outcome here. I we really didn't know much about this team. You know, they I they traveled four hours. I haven't done a lot of history on this team. Um but really uh really Spartans have come out on fire today. Maybe maybe from that tough loss the other night at Frontier. Well, I think it's it says a lot about the resolve of the team, too. You come off a tough loss
that was emotional on a lot of fronts and to show up the way they did today. That's great indicator for for what's to come. >> Absolutely. What a really nice exchange between the East Long Spartans and the left hash mark there. Really good to get it down. Great pass. >> That was a really nice exchange there. >> Ala defense. >> Julia Gray. Grace Martin just missing it. coming in. >> Opportunity here for North Cicero. >> And she just missed it. >> Just missed it. >> That's number eight for Syracuse. Gabrielle Garuchio. >> Tell you what, what we've noticed over the last few games with Emma Mau in the net, you're going to have to earn every goal you score on her because she is something to watch down there in that net. Well, that's if
you get by Julia Gray and Grace Martin and Greta Langren. I mean, it's a good it's a good defensive front to get through. Um, we got uh six minutes left in the third quarter here. Northstar's trying to push on the Spartan side of the field. >> N Selena Marino with the ball inside. Inside motion here. We got a corner for Syracuse. real opportunity in quite some time for for uh North Syracuse. Uh results in a corner. >> I was watching a warmup earlier in the day and there is not one player that does not have an absolute power slap shot. So, it'll be interesting to see who they go to and how it goes. They look like a really self-disiplined team and I'm sure they have a you know, I was talking to the parents.
They had a really good team last year. I think they graduated a number of seniors. Here's the insert outside. It's hit her foot unfortunately. Julia Gray going to insert it. Marino on the side here. 19 missed. That's a dangerous play I think by Isabelle Normanley. >> Great clear. >> Okay, >> Norah with an opportunity here. >> That should be ours and it is. It's going to stay long ball. Norah again with possession. Great drive down the middle of the field. We got an opportunity here. We'll see if we can chase that ball down and get a shot. >> Oh, Matty Sos with a hustle. Matty Sos with the hustle down there to force the issue. That's a way to force the issue. Keep it down the Syracuse area. >> What a fun kid she is
to be around. Great teammate. Great personality. >> Great personality to be around. Spartans 31. All right, so we got uh 4 minutes and 34 seconds in the third quarter here on this Saturday morning event. Clara Petit in the game. >> Clara is a junior >> junior the junior leader. She's standing right in the middle. Syracuse going to clear that. try to clear it up, but Grace Martin says no. Unfortunately, >> off the foot of a North Syracuse player, it's going to be ball coming in. >> Keep it down here. We got four minutes left in this quarter and Grace Martin's going to take the ball at the 25 yd line. Insert it and just goes off Reeves stick. So again, Johnny, the name of the game is keep it down in their zone. >> And
they've done a great job with possession. uh had some great shots on net uh and playing really well together as a team throughout these first three quarters of action here. Drive into the middle of the field. >> There's corner east long meadow. >> All right, so that is I believe the first or second corner of the half. Um Syracuse has one corner on their side and let's see what happens here. Okay, who do we got in? Grace Guile is going to insert this ball. We got Denalt Bailey, Clara Reed, Matty Seros, and Grace Martin back at the 25 for this corner. See what they come up with here. Coach Reed anticipating this play. It's going to go to Reed outside the circle. He's got to go back in. Unfortunately, >> he just didn't get all
of it there. That's okay. >> Happens. >> Long clear. North Syracuse. >> Gwennneth Gasperini coming up here. She's got solid stick skills on Gwennneth. Solid. >> Not too many players going to get it by her. >> I've been watching her play for a number of years with all these girls. >> That's >> great hustle player as well, Denny, wouldn't you say? >> Oh, yeah. Absolutely. There's a centered play just outside. And that was a really nice center play by, I believe, number 18 for Syracuse. No, I can't see that far. Either way, my friend, looks like it's going to be ball coming out. >> Yeah, we got a substitute in number 13, Samantha Marino, coming in and number 19, Isabelle Normanly, coming out for Syracuse. I don't have the years of the girls. I apologize.
It's the first time doing this. Like we said at the beginning of the broadcast, give us some time. >> Oh, what a great in the middle of the field. You got in the middle of the field. >> Denalt coming on. Grace. Oh, we're going to receive. Oh, what a pretty >> smart look. Out of bounds in East ball. >> Yeah, on the spot. On the spot. It's going to be on the spot. >> Uh, so we got Denalt Bailey. Clara um Clara Petite in there holding steady in the middle. >> That's number 31. >> Guy to inbound middle of the field to Pettit. >> Pettit. No, Denalt. Denal gonna take this ball. She's got three on one. >> Staying with it here. Great help. >> Oh, really nice. Gonna dish it to Denal. Denalt's Denal's
got the ball in the left hash and it's going to go Syracuse the ball unless Grace can stop by the left to Reed. >> Reed trying to drive her way in and okay, >> it's going to stay Islam with just less than a minute to go in this third quarter. >> And don't wait. That's the key. You know, coach Reed says, you know, go with it. At a spot foul, the player can continue with it. They don't have to wait. And sometimes that catch the defense off guard. So, we're going to insert at the 25 yd line. Grace Martin. Oh, Matty Sos with a great play here. >> Matty Sos centers it. Grace >> just missed, but we're going to get a corner out of it. >> Third corner of the quarter. And correct me
if I'm wrong, Denny, the quarter cannot end on a corner. They got to play it out. Is that correct? >> And interestingly enough, the clock runs on high school corners, but I believe in college it's stopped. So there's 17 seconds left. Most likely the quarter run out, but they cannot end the quarter until the corner is cleared out of the zone. Ella Bailey inserts to Grace Guile. She's going to fire it in. That is off. >> Remember folks, the play is still alive. alive as long as it's in the zone. Just missed Kendall Reed. Still fighting for it on the left hand mark. >> Firing it in and that's going to be called and the end of the quarter. >> And that will be the end of the quarter. >> What a great quarter. Four
nothing. East Long Meadow Spartans. >> Starting to get some some refreshing substitutes in there. Looking good, looking strong. You know, now it's the fourth quarter. Now it's the fourth quarter. We'll see what happens, you know, with this young Spartan team, you know, and a lot of the kids, like we talked about, Johnny, came up in the eighth grade last year at Burson Middle School and played junior university for the Eastong Meadow Spartan High School team, which is a big advantage. >> It's a huge advantage. These kids learn in eighth grade. They learn the system, they learn the coaching staff, they get acclimated with older players so that when they start as freshman, there isn't the need for that acclamation process to start their fall. Uh they are used to a built-in family and a built-in
team and and on the field hockey side of the house, they have become comfortable with the system and so they jump right in and they're able to play right away. You see that with our girls. We've got four freshman that are playing the majority of every contest that we've had so far. And I that really speaks to the fact that they played as eighth graders and they know the system, they know the coaches, they know their teammates. It's a great thing to see and they have contributed tremendously tremendously early on in this season for East Lomb. It's been a lot of fun to watch. >> Right. And I will add, not only did they play against JV High School teams in the eighth grade, they beat them all. They went undefeated and tied South Hadley
varsity team last year. They did not lose a game. And that group of kids, as long as the seniors last year, >> if you rewind four years from now, I'll put some credit on Susie Guile who was the coach about four or five years ago brought these kids up in a tremendous, tremendous class last year. Tremendous class. Western Mass Championship. >> To totally agree. Susie Susie has been uh instrumental in field hockey in this town for so so many years. Uh and she and the folks that she's worked with in the youth, they've just done an amazing job preparing these kids fundamentally to be really solid players and great teammates. Um and and Susie's done an amazing job over the course of many years of strengthening the program within this town. It's really been a
lot of fun to watch. >> Yep. and these uh and I believe he has brought up another bunch of eighth graders to play in JB this year. >> That's correct. >> These freshman are under the the realm of coach Erin Bailey >> who really has contributed uh three four years to the youth coming up. Her daughter Erin Bailey out there superb athlete >> gold cup winners I think three years in a row. I was talking to a couple parents the other day and to your point, Denny, I think we have six to eight current eighth graders that are playing junior varsity field hockey. So, it's a great indicator of uh consistent continued success hopefully for this program. >> Yeah. And it's not a big sport out here as it is in the east. Out east,
field hockey is it >> not too many people are familiar with this uh this sport out here. And for them to go out and compete against Eastern teams is really great jump by everybody. >> Yeah, totally agree. We had a great run in the state playoff last year and after the Western Mass Championship and uh it's just a fun program to be a part of and it's it's fun to share in the success of these girls because they work so hard and they love each other and it's it's just a lot of fun to be a part of as a parent uh and and someone who's become a fan. I knew nothing about this game several years ago. >> Nor did I, my friend. Nor did I and I still don't. But we do our
best. So Norol taking it at the 30 yardd line trying to avoid this defender. Looks like she's gonna >> last quarter of play here. De >> last quarter play. We got 13 minutes left. And now I mean there's Clara in the middle trying to get it in there. Ella Bailey. Tenacious. That's the word I have for Ella Bailey. Tenacious. Absolutely tenacious. >> And the kid has a motor that does not run out of gas. North centers that in nicely >> corner corner. What number is that, John? >> Four corners for East Met out in the second half. Really good opportunities. Really good opportunities for this young team. So 13 minutes and 23 seconds left. The clock continues to run on a corner. Ella is going to insert it. Uh, Petite, Guile, Martin, Reed, Denalt, and
Olivia Phillips checked in number 24. Insert into Grace Skyle outside the circle back into Kendall Reed with a shot. >> Great idea. Great rebound. >> Oh, Petia Phillips, I believe. >> Olivia Phillips with the goal. >> Petite on the assist. >> Great goal off the corner. East lead here. Am I right on my uh petite on the assist? Really good. >> So, we got a 5-0 lead here with 12 minutes. John, >> yeah, we are in we are in really good shape right now, Denny. And I think what you really want to see here, you want to kids finish the game, right? Regardless of the score, you want to see the kids finish strong. You played so well for three plus quarters. The goal here is to continue to play strong all the way through
that last whistle. >> There was some concern in the Simsbury scrimmage that the girls kind of ran out of gas in the fourth quarter out there in Connecticut uh in Enfield game. They kind of ran out. Hopefully coach has got them up conditioning. >> Yeah, and I think I I think you're right about that. I think they did run out of gas a little bit, but I also think it's indicative of being early in the season and getting their their field legs underneath them. And >> sure, >> as these games progress, they'll continue to get more and more conditions. >> Yeah. >> Grace Martin, really nice defensive play. >> She's going to flick it on her leg. That's going to be metal ball football. Yeah, you really want to see the kids really dig in
here. >> Not let up. >> Finish strong. You know, it's it's it's playing like it's zero zero, that zero zero mentality, right? Because it doesn't just serve you well in this game, but it prepares you for competitive games that are going to come for these girls each and every single time they play. So, we got to really finish strong. >> Yeah, Julia Gray really smart play down the sideline going over to Grace Guy. Oh, just missed coming out Syracuse ball. >> I think the girls really needed a game like this too, Denny. you know, with, as you said earlier on in the broadcast, you know, not knowing uh the level of play of this team from North Syracuse and coming off a really tough loss just a couple days ago, the girls really needed a
game like this uh to come out and play well, play together uh hopefully if everything remains, get a great win. Uh because it sets them up great for for the rest of the grind that is this season for them. So, grind it's a hard schedule, John. We got AWAM on Tuesday night. uh to Agawam's playing really good this year. Uh they lost to Long Meadow by one and tied front gear earlier in the week. So these Long Me Spartans have moved up in a division this year which makes things not easy. >> That's the way it's the way we want it though. And I know Coach Reed's philosophy is he wants to compete and play against the best. Um that's his philosophy across all the sports he coaches and I think the girls have embraced
They want to play against the best competition uh because they know ultimately it's just going to prepare them so so well hopefully for a postseason push. >> There's Grace Guy coming in gets another corner corner number five. But really interesting story from last year. The girls played in the uh I believe it was the Valley League and then chose to to move up a division in the Western Mass Championship which was really a nuke. I think they had to get MIA approval for that and they ended up beating uh Minichog at the semi and Long Meadow in the final. >> Yeah, what a fun run that was last year for the girls and for the town. There was a lot lot of buzz around that which is great to see in a sport like field
hockey where you know in our area it's it's football, it's basketball, it's soccer. Uh but to see the love from this community and this school supporting these athletes was so so much fun to see last year as they made a run to that Western Mass Championship. Yeah, >> that was that was a lot of fun. >> And I believe his >> Langon on the side clearing it nicely to Kendall Reed trying to get a hold of it. She does save it. >> Syracuse has the ball at the 40 yd line moving inward. >> Reed is another one. Just a Grace Martin coming out. >> Grace Martin playing defense at midfield. Looks like she got tripped up on her stick. So, there's eight minutes and 50 seconds left in the game. >> What a pick. >>
Uh Olivia Phillips with a really nice play and doesn't hesitate to get it down. That should be a slung metal ball and it is. >> It was called >> Clara Petite up the field. >> Feed it out to Noralt's going to make one move. >> Looks like Nor just got the ball a little bit with her foot. >> Julia Gray as usual, right where she's supposed to be. should feed it right down the sideline. North and trying to save it over here in the sideline. Goes through the legs of number 12 and Grace feeds it in nicely. Winner number six coming up. >> I mean, these kids are playing really well. Coach has these kids playing good and and the two assistants down there, Natalie and Aaron Tibido. The kids really enjoy them. They really
work hard Monday through Friday after school. And John, you know, to be a student athlete, it's not it's not easy or else everybody would do it. These kids get out of school, come out, practice hard, have to go home, shower, and study. >> That's exactly right. >> But they absolutely love it. They love their coaches and each other. So, it makes it really special. >> I think that's the thing that's so special is they they love each other. They take >> What a special play by >> That's going to be a foot and another corner for East Meadow. >> She faked the slap shot. The girl moved and just very easily lifted it. >> What a move. really nice. >> She's a she's a special player, man. And you know, she's been involved with this
game since she's been a little kid, as you mentioned before, her older sister, Ava, >> playing at Pace University. But but Gracie is is one of the outstanding outstanding leaders of this team, and a really, really good field hockey player. >> Devastating injury last year. She worked her rear end off to get back uh for her senior year to be with her teammates in this program. And she's a special kid. Claire Petitum in the in the corner facing two defenders trying to work it. >> She gets it out. >> Grace Martin right here with their stick down. Number 18 having a problem. Isabelle Normanley getting it out. Syracuse ball smartly plays to number 10. That's going to be >> well Bailey thrown into space. What do we got here? >> That's a on somebody. Bella,
don't know. I don't have her name. >> Looks like it's going to be a fivey infraction against >> Well, no, it's actually a penalty. One of them's coming off and taking a seat by the trainer. So, they're going to be one short for the last Wow, there's six minutes and 30 seconds left of this game. Five nothing. And this is where your players need to practice sharp. Don't let up. Yeah, that's that's really what I want to see the most out of these girls. They played so hard all game long. They've really put a really really solid game together, moved the ball well, and you just want to see them finish strong. Uh and it looks like we are we are on track to do just that with another opportunity right here. >> Rebound. >>
Oh, that's that's in >> and a goal. >> That's a goal. >> That's an East Long Meadow goal. >> Hustle. >> That is a 100% hustle goal by East Long Meadow. Olivia Phillips on a hustle play. >> I don't know. There was a big pile up there. I can't confirm it yet. We're going to wait for confirmation. >> It's going to be a goalie change here, folks, for North Syracuse. >> Claire Pat. Okay, >> that was a really hustle play. So, we got a six nothing lead with five minutes left by number 31. >> So, Clara Petite with the with the credit for the goal. Really good hustle in there. She worked hard for that. >> That was a hustle play all around down in the north Syracuse end. loose ball off a rebound and
just a pure hustle goal. And you know, Denny, it speaks to what we were just talking about a minute ago. We want to see these girls finish strong, right? Right to the end. And that's a great example of that, right? Battling down by the net for another goal. That's so good to see. >> Yeah. >> Kendall Reed on the on the left hand side just kind of working it, working that sideline. I like to work the sideline. 4 minutes and 44 seconds left. Got uh Oh, we got Pton Fight Cavs has checked in on defense. Payton's a um she's a freshman. Grace Martin taking it out here. We're at the 15 yd line of Esong Meadow. So, if you're just joining us now, there's four minutes left in this game. Six nothing Spartans. >> It's
been an awesome been an awesome uh midm morning here at Spartan Stadium and as Denny said we are in the final corner of action. Four minutes to go. East Meadow up six to nothing. >> And a really great confidence builder for the young Spartans. Uh looks like there's about four freshman on the field right now. Um really good after that like we talked about the Frontier loss. How good are you when you lose? That's the question in all sports. How good can you come back from a loss? >> Yeah, especially given the success they had early on, shutting some teams out. Um, you make a great point and I think what we learned about these girls today is that their resolve is strong and they showed up today on a Saturday morning. Absolutely 100% ready
to go and it's great to see. It's great to see >> Ella Bailey on defense here at the 20 yardd line. >> I mean at this this Syracuse team really uh is not is not that bad off as the show as >> another great save by Mau rebound in front of the net. >> Still fighting for a loose ball. >> That is a It's going to be a corner for North Syracuse. >> Yeah, I mean they're they're a good team. They're a good team. >> I think they their head coach Pat Kennedy, they've had some success that I've looked at and uh they got some athletes on that team. Don't let they're going to have a good season. >> Looks like a I don't know what the infraction was. This is a stroke penalty. >>
Stroke. So this is oneonone. Emma Mau against number 18. Uh, don't have her number. >> We have her number. We just don't have >> I have her. >> What a save by Emma Mau >> to keep it six nothing medal. What a great save. >> Just puts a exclamation point to that to this game. A really nice save by Emma Mau. See what we got here. >> At the two-minute mark, Denny, >> we're at the twominute mark. Uh Gwen Casperini checking in for Greta uh Langden senior. She should be done for the day. She's done her job. Ella Bailey coming up on the 10 yardd line. Syracuse. It's just 1 minute and 41 seconds away from >> Nice play there in the middle of the field by Grace Martin. >> Really smart to the sideline
