003around Shaw's going to get there Shaw does get there Puck does get out but all the way in no icing roer gets there fires it all the way around Maza can't get to it f that's into the neutral zone Maza collects Maza skating in hard Maza gets it in Maza taking a shot on that save Cashman fun fact it's a battle of the cousins here today the Owen Reed the senior golender are cousins uh if you recall as we talked about in the Long Meadow game obviously these two teams met a week ago so it's a rematch after they tied 33 last Monday with a completely legal last second goal from West Springfield Ericson collects fires up the boards it's kley kley puts it through his legs up to mraa M draa carries it in
004dra gets away up to the point Erikson gloves down shot on net goes up oh right over the Nets that was close shot into the neutral zone Kell re takes it just shoots it right back down Ericson's going to get there Ericson does puckets tipped out all the way around K gets back up back hands it up the boards back up to kley kley dues to dumps it deep in the West Field Zone carried out into neutral zone took all the way up the West Side Captain cannot collect it Kell Reed has it over to Erikson Erikson cannot get a stick on it goes up the board it's no communication from the Spartans they can't get it out Roman comes into help rusco takes it shoots it right back to boards to Roman Roman has
005it against the boards it's one V one now 2V1 as a West Springfield player joins in puckets all the way down Roman takes it chips it out into the neutral zone collected shot back up and dumped into the East Zone Kell Reed has it Kell Reed goes around his own Nets K re pass all the way up perfect pass kick Coral that was Ferrero Kell re just takes it right back re shoots it up the bo to Roman Roman Falls puck gets out though russco collects Russo has it ruso dumps it [Applause] in shot all the way up Brewster can pick that off Brewster does pick it off Baker on it punck shot right back into the neutral zone goes all the way down raso has to get there go no icing crosso shots it
006down to Brewster Brewster has it gets around Naza Brewster has it now Brer cuts into the middle of the ice gets it sticked away back into the Zone Baker ccts Baker back hits it right into the West Side player Puck still behind the goal line up to the board Shaw sha out mans him Shaw up that comes out of the Zone it's going be off sides if they go in jumps right back in sparts can collect rooster shoots it all around uh Shaw Shaw over to Baker Baker that pass behind slows him down but Baker and Ma and bake shot M it didn't even shoot it slow reaction time pass gets around that's going to be a breakaway it shot save Reed it's a big save into behind the goal line pass up to front
007goes all the way down be no icing sp's going to go for a full change here but collected behind the West Springfield zone or net excuse me up towards to AIT I believe chip the round gets around clean shot on net save re rebound goes wide shot blocked in front think by nraa nraa takes it chips at the boards can't get it around right back into the Spartans under the goal line Reed gets bodied off to front shot wide K has kley misses it chipped up the board sets for Ericson Ericson has it ericon is a one-on-one Erikson makes move goes around takes a shot save Cashman as he covers it and freezes the play finally a good chance on net for the Spartans there Gavin Hall the senior Captain for West Springfield had a
008couple shots in that sequence he's leading the West Springfield terriers in goals with 10 on the season dra up for the face off draw wins it back to ericon ER takes a shot on net blocks in front it's a new play we haven't seen before that shots all the way down the ice that's going to be an icing goes right back down the West Springfield Zone you know there were countless errors that we critiqued in the Long Meadow game for the Spartans here at the very least in the first five minutes of this one I can see the Spartans are playing with more energy than they had all game in against the Lancers it just looked like they were dead on their feet in that one here we can see at least there's some speed
009in their game definitely coming out the bat swinging as I'm pretty sure they want to win this one draw taken kle can't get a shot off Reed dumps it in that's on the net but gets blocked pass right back out into the neutral zone Reed can collect it Reed has time Reed over to Erikson Ericson holds it Erics right back to Reed Reed up to Erikson Erikson dumps it as that line comes for a change shot around the boards Spartans on the offensive can't get anything there right back up into the neutral zone fro comes for a hit shot behind the Spartans goal line pass up to Roman Roman has it Roman fires it up it's blocked but Roman just gets it right back Roman all the way across gets picked off pass to the
010front Reed just covers giveaways were certainly a big factor in that loss against Long Meadow and we've seen a couple here today by the Spartans obviously that one from Roman there was a a couple from kley earlier on in this one so got to clean it up in the Spartans end face off ruso can't win it all the way back Gro has it Gro takes it fires up the boards to Roman Roman has it back hands it up does get out of the Zone into the neutral zone that's back into the W Springfield Zone that's up Gro defense fro does get the stoppage Ferrero has it ferero make the move ferero just takes it dumps it on neck it's tipped onto net pass right back up Russ goes there can't get the stick on it
011dumped in offly offside still off sides Russ goes not still off sides comes back it's to Shaw Shaw dumps it up BS can't get anything going with that Gro has Gro up to Maza Maza blows a tire no off sides or excuse me no icing sh all the way out into the neutral zone another blown tire from the Spartan that was graso that time Brewster chips it up to Maza it gets around Maza but they can't find it to sha Shaw just reverses sha behind the net Shaw Cuts in front cuts to the middle Shaw loses the puck gets poked right back in takes it shot on net wide roer up to Maza Maza collects Maza up to uh Baker Baker just can't get anything done with it another takeway eron can't get it through
012stick handling through Brer just shoots it away camison up the boards to Shaw Shaw pass across to Maza Maza can't collect Maza has time Maza takes it behind the boards pass to the front Baker Baker reverse shot on net save by Catman MAA can't collect again pass across all the way out of the zone and it's looking very sloppy through the passing side of this game we the exit just fires it around Keller re on it now Keller re it up the boards Spartans can't find it it's Kevin Baker shoots it up Ericson Ericson can't get anything done with it there a battle in the corner comes out up to ericon Ericson has it Erikson chips it across for kley kley does collect kley gets a break kley loses the puck that's the right play
013kley CH for the round behind the net for Erikson get shipped right back to kley kley battling kle the middle shot a what just High Erikson takes it behind the net now kley has it kley M's the middle kley making moves K in front of the net shot save [Applause] Cashman you love to see this first line getting chemistry together celey Erikson and mraa two seniors and one freshman but these guys can score [Music] absolutely R Co Ferrero and Roman out here now the offensive own face off Ericson and Reed back on defense it's unfortunate the jumbo Chon isn't saying any of the shots in this one because I'm really curious what they areof tied up in the middle Roman has it behind the goal line tries to chip it around can't gets tripped up
014reversed all the way around to the point breakout good pick off by Erikson Puck taken away from ruso into the Zone goes around Reed passes front poked Away by Owen Reed big hit going to give a penalty now delayed penalty Reed's going to go to the bench chipped all the way down but just be an icing or no icing it is ice Spartans to the power play and you perfectly summed it up the passing has been very sloppy in this one so far so the key to this power play is Cris passes good movement in the zone and hopefully the Spartans can get something going definitely Puck possession is extremely important on these last game against laow there wasn't really much possession on the power plays and then they had a lot of Power Players
015I think there's like a total of like at least 10 or 11 SP just have to hold on to the puck up to the point Brewster has it Brewster passes it right down Rustico ruso shipped away from him shipped all the way down going to be a breakaway and on Reed takes it move re shot scores that's a short-handed goal for the Terriers and a blown play no I mentioning before Gavin Hall that kid is dangerous and you know I I believe the terries have been trying to Spring him forward on these long passes up the ice and this one finally executes perfectly from Hall 11 goals now on the season and the Spartans are down one nothing still 148 on the power play so let's see if they can turn things around face off
016back to Reed Reed over to Erikson Erikson holds Waits it Ericson up to Maza SPS ENT The Zone Maza reverses to Erikson Erikson right back to Maza Maza holds in the corner fights the front blocked in front baker has it though Baker up to Shaw Shaw down to Baker Baker up to the point that's the Reed Reed right back to Baker tipped Baker makes a quick reverse play Spartans are standing still in their spots Maza holds now Maza pass up to the point I'm not sure what the play was has right back up to Maza Maza can carry it in Maza takes it in has the speed Maza takes a shot on net but a rebound goes right around Maza takes it to the front no not one there cam eron has time plenty of
017time has his right back up Aza goes to ground he can't gets it taken away Chi right down the [Applause] ice K re has time can just hold on to it try and make a quick pass up does ericon right back to Reed Reed all the way up the ice to Maza good pass Maza Waits holds right to the middle Baker I saw the play tried to reverse it the backand over to sha nothing there though Keller defense Puck Maza is able to body Westside player off the puck goes back into the neutral zone when dra on ITA try to kick it around here's now Shaw has it Shaw carries it up around into the Zone he gets tripped up they're going to get another call it's be a five on three the Spartans for
01820 seconds yeah you could hear the frustration all the way across the ice from Dan Reed on that execution on the power play so great opportunity here for the Spartans you know up two men on the ice there should be a lot more space although the Terriers are doing a good job at collapsing in on the SP spans especially against the boards but the behind the the the behind the net feeds are working in the Spartans favor if they can get a Spartan out in front here we see the four offensive players one defensive player from the Spartans puckets one back around russco gets outw to the puck go on it though he gets it right back pass the front there kley makes a move kley backand covered up by Cashman kley had a chance
019yeah he definitely wanted to elevate that one just went right into the Stick of Troy Cashman and only eight seconds left on this Twan Advantage re telling Brewster to watch the clock goes back to Brewster Brewster can hold it Brewster takes a shot blocked by the Spartans kley takes it right down for mraa Westside player comes out five on four now kley can't get there mraa on it though mraa trying to force around gets all the way up to the side of the boards mraa has it m has a break shot gets ticked away it's up to the point Brewster has it Brewster keeps it in Brewster makes a move Brewster carrying in Brewster takes it pass over one time shot save crashman rebound kly can't bat it out of the air the puck comes
020out the bors Brewster has that's a great chance for the Spartans Brewster up to ruso Russo holds takes it in Russo Waits pass back no one there but that haser has plenty of room he could have walked it this is Erikson Erikson holds ericon dances to front pass it down no one there no communication with the Spartans R go one hand on a stick poking at it held in the front there's 50 seconds to go on the power play Reed yelling at kley to get in there just still being held clock is bleeding no movement here that PU it's just sitting here kle working it that is bled 20 seconds off the clock there's no movement and we have four Spartans in on it now no call Anda on him Anda tries to get it
021around can 20 seconds to go on the power play shot all the way down this going be another thankfully ericon came on the ice shot on net tipped Away by Erikson Bruce they getting Works getting held against he gets pushed down Cameron gets it around this is to Baker baker has to come out there's 3 seconds to go on the power play and this power play is going to expire Baker takes in and Baker gets it sticked away behind the Westside goal line comes around pass up to the point ericon shot on that tipped save rebound another save Cashman so much to talk about on that sequence I mean you know that power play was looking good until Westside shaved pretty much a quarter of that power play off the clock uh I love the
022passing from Connor Brewster that first one uh with Jack Russo's one- timer was great one behind maz's on it though gets held up goes right down into the corner Shaw goes in help puck gets up into the air to the middle of the ice WS can't get there break out Baker with great back check right back up Reed passes up to Maza Maza has a spring now Maza can hold it try and get his boys to come in but Mah HS takes it around the net pass the front nothing it's blocked Shaw has to go on it chipped all the way out ericon keeps it in to Shaw Shaw the Lefty has the chance Shaw takes it sha net thr pass over Baker can't finish it na a no look pass up gets blocked Away
023by the carriers as on it trying to get some work done pass the front of the Ice Center of the ice not ericon just dumps it right back in change for the Spartans 210 to go in this period it's all the way down it's going to be an icing Spartans have an offensive uh Zone face off with two minutes to go you know at the very least a positive to come out of that power play is the Spartans are finally moving you could hear Dan Reed from the bench obviously not happy with the Spartans standing still but now they're creating movement around the offensive zone and finding space creating one-time opportunities for an open player draw one back to graso graso has it graso waits fires to the middle gets a shot backhand shot nothing
024on it but save Cashman back to what I was saying about Connor Brewster uh you summed it up perfectly there was that first opportunity where he got Jack bro in deep but the second one he should have taken the shot himself instead of setting up man that was not open shot around the boards R comes into to take it that's shot all the way down the ice another icing on the Terriers well 148 left here to go in the first period Spartan still down a goal to West Springfields but we've gotten more chances in on net in the last second half of this period face off one back to Gro Gro has it just chips it all the way around gets gloved down it's around the West Side neck it's reversed all the way around
025that was all the way up in the air Russo has it takes it just DS it right back in reverse back in nothing there frero on it now Roman ton chipped all the way down roer's got to get there he does Brewster takes it around Owen Reed Brewster looks up can't makes a bunch of moves Brewster got a freak Brewster skating hard the middle get a chi the away to the front no one there no Spartans there frero on it frero waits tries to reverse it can't now he does but gets picked off to the front kicked Away by Gro good play there Gro shoots it right back in frero on it fro with the body shot back all the way up to the point one minute remaining Roso makes the defensive play makes them
026dump it in Reed leaves it Brewster up to Roman Roman has it back to Brewster Brewster makes a move get ticked away giveway right in the Spartan Zone takes it shot cross what a save by Reed stretching his leg out to make that toe save right back down Brewster has Brewster shs at all the way around this is the Roman Roman has time fires it across from kley gets picked off little back behind draa on it 25 seconds to go in the first period into Spartan Zone pass all the way up the boards into neutral zone picked off off by ericon ericon has it 17 seconds eron takes it keeps it pass the front right there goes over mraa can't put it away back into the core Erikson has it behind the goal line 8
027seconds to go BL side collects tries to chip it out they don't gets right back in ericon Aron tries to make a move he can't Puck still there loose kley makes the move and the period ends as kley can't score that what an opportunity for the Spartans and they've had many opportunities in the second half of this period an encouraging sign heading into the second still down a goal and both goal tenders have been playing solid I believe in this one uh nonetheless still down a goal one- nothing Westside and we'll see you back here for the second period on elcat e e e and we are back for the second period here on elcat Spartans down one- nothing to the West Springfield Terriers I'm Abby page and Mike peard back into the Spartan Zone
028Gro turns around back hands it to Shaw Shaw takes to the middle gets it sticked away Shaw shoots it all the way up just gets the point Obin takes it shot on net goes all the way wide Naza passes right up to the middle Shaw Shaw has it Shaw takes it in into the Zone makes it move takes it shot just gets sticked away Baker on it Baker Tri to reverse the shaw doesn't have all the juice to get there in on that was Brewster making the West Side Player move Naza no look past the middle Shaw on it Shaw trying to get something going pass all the way back goes through the West Side Defender gets all the way back into the Zone nazza on it give away to the middle off the boards
029kley kley dumps it right back in mraa VR has it pass the middle gets blocked great play by the West Springfield Defender there BRS all the way around the boards big hit from Maza and raso tries to put it in he can't so back hands are back to the middle taken in West Springfield shot on net save re rebound takes it another save re dangerous rebound there Aron passes all the way around the boards there's no spart in there to get it Gro in on it pass to the middle Reed just takes it with his glove covers it up I think the entire line of uh Baker Shaw and Maza is completely back to form here I've said in the long meow game I thought Baker was a standout as always but I think Maza
030and Shaw have definitely turned it on in here as well as we saw great four checking from Maza in that sequence takes it back he with the clean draw pass up goes around though Ericson can get there just Out Of Reach the boards cam Ericson on it now gets around Ericson pass to the middle uh nothing there it's front kley on it kley chips it in K shakes off the hit jumped all the way back to the neutral zone cam can collect iton over to Reed Reed looks across into the middle Mike V was into his skates he couldn't get there Kell re has it holds it in his own Zone reverses to Erikson Erikson up the boards gets sticked away this is Braden ER now back hands it up to the point shot right
031back into the Spartan Z be off sides there's definitely better Puck management from the Spartans overall in this one uh again one of the biggest factors from the loss to Long Meadow but even just early on in the second period here you can see better puck corralling better passing face off sparts take it into the terrier Zone shot all the way up gets around fro fro just dumps it in SPS have to go and regroup now F shot all the way around the boards Russ net there does Rowan down to Russo Russo to make a move Russo holds reverses pass up to the point to Gro Gro takes a shot blocked gets around grao passes it right back off rusco rusco dumps it in Roman on it Roman can't get anything away from it ferero
032comes to help Ferrero backs in to Roman Terriers break it out chipped all the way around stick down by graso is able to get it away just in time makes a move on bruer but roer's not fooled he gets the puck back it's held down HED behind Gro shoots it back around for Roman Roman has it Roman up the ice to rusto clean break out from the Spartans rusco just takes it shoots it dumps it and it's blocked pass right back to grao grao has it Gro up the boards be off sides though and they're going to call it although we've definitely seen a lot of shot blocking here from the Terriers I think a small detail the Spartans have done really well especially in that first that allowed them to remain possession of the
033puck in the offensive zone is the defenseman keep keeping the puck in the zone they're strong on their sticks against the boards and keeping that puck in the offensive zone definitely up NAA gets away from it gets loses the puck though cam ericon makes the move dumps it all the way in great play by cam Ericson down into the boards gets around Baker Shaw Comes to help she chipped all the way around it's going to be no icing believe say k got a stick on it before went all the way down out of the boards Shaw on it back deeper into the Spartan Zone back to Shaw Shaw has it gets up to the point slap shot right through Reed's glove it looked like Naza pass it back can't get it out that was the
034right play though right back in the Spartan Zone Keller Reed on it Keller Reed shots all the way up the boards Shaw takes it to the middle dangerous back to the point gets out though left side Defender couldn't handle it chip the right back in that's around the net help by Reed Reed takes it Reed makes a move Reed piing it heavy Reed's just taking it himself Kell takes it just dumps it in but get shot right back out Maza on it Maza takes it reverses chips it all the way back Shaw can get there Shaw up the boards back into the terrier Zone up the boards came actually kick stick on it no icing eron takes it around the net himself eron makes backand pass up to Shaw Shaw just back hands it over
035shot right back in on Owen Reed he just blocks away chipped all the way down the ice that's going to be an icing on the Spartans you said something in that sequence mik that stuck out to me and it's the right play I think most of the time the Spartans do have the right idea when they are handling the again and I feel like I've used this word so many times it's about the execution yeah yeah the execution they have the right ideas they have the right plays in mind just the execution is a bit more poor passes are usually behind the player that's intended chipped around kley has a break kley breakway kley makes a move can't get sticked Away by Cashman pass down it's behind the goal line mraa on it Manda hold
036s against the board shipped around Ericson has it ericon around erison can look up holds it Point ericon gets a stick away into the neutral zone eron shoots it right back up for grao Gro has it chips it around MAA can collect it MAA moves pass the middle no one there Brewster has it Brewster takes it reverses it Puck is misplayed again goes around Gro gets the Wake shot save Reed big save from Owen Reed yeah I don't love that defense there from grao I believe he should have just played the body there on Gavin Hall he has so much speed and it was very quick for him to get right around Grasso's stick attempt and get the shot in on Reed rusco to the draw rusco wins it up move around what a play
037by Ferrero get sticked away racking this one zone hamerson just fires it at the boards that works to Roman Roman on it Roman takes it chips it around he's just going to go chase it Roman gets bodied off two Spartans run into each other carriers try to get it through they misplay it they just shoot it right to Reed Reed tries to make the stretch pass I like the idea the idea is there but it's going to be an icing I I just want to highlight Troy Cashman again he's been nothing short of perfection in this one cley's had a couple of chances in on front and that most recent one he just played the waiting game and was he outp patien kley there and made the great stop right go Puck one to point
038shot save Reed Kell Reed gets it around K gloves it down to himself k on it skating up passes the middle Oman loses it pass the middle we got Spartans flying all over the place verse on Roman pass back pass up the ice now what a play by Eric to cut that off Roman gets it around it's going be off sides as the Spartans are just in each other's way no communication yeah certainly something to touch upon is the communication or lack thereof from the Spartans you know it looks like they're doing things better in this one but something certainly to work on that has been a factor in this one is the lack of communication I mean it's just a simple shout and you know spatial awareness there is one Spartan that stands out
039with the communication that's Tommy kley I can hear him from all the way up here which is everything you need from a senior player on your team trying to order the young guys around get something done that shot into those Terrier Zone pass up to the point roer can have it into the neutral zone roer reverses around dumps it down doesn't get around but roer bodies it through to Maza Maza can't get anything over get anything done with it it's down Shaw tries to get his Terrier body off the puck back to raso raso shoots it up the ice for Maza MAA can't collect it but he's on it still Maza makes a play pass down it's passed up back right to the spart and jumped right back in by Gro Shaw is able to
040keep it in sha Le a body pass up to the boards down with ter down on the ice he's getting up though Roso holds has to look up passes up Spartan don't see it pass down the boards this is taken by Baker Baker big hit by the terrier player gets around Gro as he he flat footed down pestr overshot scores two nothing Terriers and I think you know in that sequence every player on the ice was flat-footed but it does come down to communication on that one three Spartans forwards in the neutral zone all standing waiting for the puck don't hear or see the puck coming up the ice it's intercepted chaos in the neutral zone breakout for the Terriers and obviously perfect execution in on Reed absolutely no chance to stop that one completely
041open net and the Terriers take the two- nothing lead draw one back into the Spartan Zone Reed lets it Go c eron on it reverses to his little brother Erikson comes down ER can't get anything done pu goes right back around shoots it up for kley kley has it kley coming down the ice kley tries to make a move in can't get sticked away good play by cam ericon though shoots it back in pass up to the middle of the ice Erikson Picks It Off there's a call on the oh it's off sides not sure how that's possible but backand up for kley kley it's a three on two for the Spartans kley over ericon ericon shot [Applause] blocked that's up it's be out of play as it hit the Nets in the West Springfield
042Zone you know to dive in further on the communication aspect we have seen attempted drop passes backhand passes no look passes from the Spartans that could result in really pretty plays if there is some simple communication on those plays to let the Spartans know where they need to be where the puck is coming to them but we haven't seen much of that and that's why the Spartans are down two nothing face off runs in the middle of the ice fro Falls goes across the ice shot right out raso just kicks it away rco takes it rco has it rco gets it around doesn't get any much on it pass up and out into the Spartan Zone Owen re just holds it as Gro couldn't get anything done with it again we're seeing better offense and
043better offensive opportunities here by the Spartans it's just Troy Cashman I mean you have to give credit to him on why the Spartans still don't have a goal but it's communication and it's you know shot Owen had no idea where it was as it was blocked in front thankfully he didn't go through Brewster taking himself Brewster makes a move around rooster takes a shot on NE scores bottle popper what a play by Brewster my goodness 21 to finish my sentence not for lack of trying because Connor Brewster has been definitely an offensive defenseman in every game I've seen him play and taking the puck up with such confidence springing into the offensive zone in either wing and just what a labeled shot far top corner and it is a one-goal game game here at Olympia
044Ice Center that was almost not identical but to the jeppi leag goal I think it was two years ago on Agawam taking himself shot right corner I mean that was beautiful shot right down at the sparring Zone the back on defense sticked Away by Reed pu comes out shot right back in the off sides though so delayed K Reed bounces it around for Shaw sha revers pass Baker Tri to get across just goes right back to Shaw Shaw has it over coming to the Zone Shaw reverses back P pass to the middle nothing on it shot by ericon blocked it's going be a three-on-one coming down the other way for the Terriers K re just Hicks the middle good play hold wa shot save Reed big save fanned on it by camon pass the middle
045shot save re another save Kell re up the boards goes around Parts can't get there they had a chance shot right back down in C ericon collects has time time and space cam taking himself the other defenseman coming in now camison taking it camison makes a move around just bodied off still has it though Maron reverses it down for Maza shot all the way around the boards Kevin Baker's going to get there L he's a body Kevin Baker just rocked that Terrier up to the point Brewster passes it right back down sha in on it that's up Brewster that can't move pass down for Baker goes through just to Maza Maza has it Maza UPS to Brewster Brewster Tri to keep it in has it though Brewster holding Brewster making a body Brewster shoots it
046in oh he almost gets it blocked away it's been all Brewster this shift shot all the way down desperation from the ter that they just ice it it's a similar story in this one with Owen Reed these saves that he's been making all game are not to be forgotten I mean it's a one goal game here and if the Spartans were to come back and win this one you cannot forget the contributions that Owen Reed has allowed the Spartans to stay in this one absolutely offensive zone face off KY inching in comes out to kley kley King it around that was the right play kley just going to get the shot through the West Side defenseman puck in the corner up to Brewster Brer still on the ice kley has it in the middle kley
047passes it over it stays in but py has to come back kley just shoots it back up smart shot to the middle K can collect it behind his goal line F stuck behind roer tries to make a move he can back to front nothing there it's batted down coming out now it's going be I believe Ericson erison in on pass the middle SOA can't get the shot off that's the again the right Play Just execution just m Time by mraa making a move to the middle Gro making a good play mraa up the boards no Spartan there shot tipped in front save Reed Brewster shoots it all the way around for Erikson comes out to the neutral zone pass up back in the zone is going to be another off sides yeah the terriers have
048been good defensively with their sticks blocking Lanes with their sticks there might have been a stick lift on mraa with that one time attempt so credit to the Terriers defense but again the Spartans certainly have life in this one creating opportunity ities and hopefully they'll find the back of the net once again under three minutes to go f ties it up good Play Chip up all the way down the ice no icing oh they do call an icing oh that's good works for us come all the way down to the terrier Zone yeah I've seen Rustico quite a lot in this one actually you know power play had quite a few offensive opportunities here I'd like to see Alex Roman get going as well and it's good to see Sam Ferrero on the ice I
049think he's a hard worker as well 247 to go in the second period as it's Chi up the boards broken out by the Terriers pass up back to the middle is it give it go great play taking into the off sides I agree it's a good off off sides cause he entered before he got control of the puck just going to be in the neutral zone not all the way [Music] down face off one back it's to Keller Reed Keller Reed passes it all the way down can't get through ruso gets through Russo's backand shot on nette blocked Away by Keller Reed taken as the defenseman comes in sitting in the back pass up to Roman Roman wait chips it around good play to just get out of the Zone shot on net goes wide
050Reed takes it chips it around for Erikson Ericson gets it up ericon can't get anything with there Ericson just shoots it all the way down he had the look at Ferrero I don't think you just saw him in time yeah those are the plays from the Spartans that you just like to have them you know lift their heads up and see everywhere on the ice see the plays that they can make instead of throwing away the puck and allowing for a face off back in their own Zone Baker up the draw Baker up can't get anything done pass up to the point shot down it's collected by Baker Baker tries to pass it across kicked away Away by his own Spartan player just unfortunate timing there has back in the Spartan Zone Brewster Brewster over
051to Gro Gro chips it up the boards good play Baker Baker chips it to the West Side player goes in on Cashman casman's just going to cover offensive zone face off of the Spartans yeah Dan Reed certainly not pleased in this I hear him like every other shift shipped all the way down it's going to be nicing or it's not going to be nicing that's not going to go that's a beautiful chip down the ice cuz he definitely meant to do that pass all the way up that's to Maza Maza leaves it for uh Baker baker has it into the Zone Baker holds Baker to the middle tipped in front that almost goes into the corner Maza on it minute and 10 to go in this period mass is being held up in the corner
052to the point Gro takes it shot on net High Shaw down to Maza Maza has it asza gets it sticked away from him into the zone and they give him interference on that as he lays a hits Cashman just fell the other side of the ice trying to stop the puck trying to trying to do a good deed as this be a penalty kill for the Spartans with 53 seconds left to go in this first period the player to watch is of course Gavin Hall he's such a weapon for the Terriers every time the puck is on a stick and he has a lane he is going to whip that puck as hard as possible at Owen Reed you need to block his lane pass one back by mraa Reed on it sitting in the
053corner pass up to the point mraa comes out to help and K just make play that comes out make a move that's H takes it CH shot save re rebound another save by Reed it's loose and Reed covers it up great Saves by Reed keep the Spartans in it absolutely again i' just like to see more of the Spartans collapsing in on him you know he shouldn't have that space to walk in and get two opportunities in on re dra to the Face Off the draw One backwards by VR great play ericon takes it chips it up for the point to get on it f down J holding his post takes it K he's not going to go shot on net wide rebound shot what a save by Owen Reed stretching his glove hand out
054is chipped all the way down the ice kley on it kley gets it there pu comes out pass up the boards gobl in Gavin coming in on it nothing there chips it back to the point shots right back in takes it shot on net blocked by Ericson Puck goes out chips off into the neutral zone as a period ends 2-1 Terriers again Owen Reed you know incredible stop there to keep the Spartans in this oneg goal game heading into the third period here at Olympia Ice Center we'll see you back here on elcat e e e [Applause] and we are and we are back for the third period of the East Long Meadow Spartans versus the Westside Terriers it is 2 to1 Westside after two ramping up to be an exciting third period here at
055Olympia Ice Center on elcat are back um sparts are still on the penalty kill here um staying in the neutral zone pu's taken in shot to hit C puck gets around uh Reed a West Springfield play Falls it's going to be another penalty on the Spartans they got roughing or cross cross check on Shaw two Wingers same line are going to be in the box together now this is tough for the Spartans 35 seconds of five on three hockey for the Terriers they're dangerous again Gavin Hall don't even have to say his name at this point dra one back roer on it roer point the body graso is going to stay in front now he comes off as Brewster returns to the front down shot out by graso now he get stick down in the
056middle back in tipped in front but Reed makes a pad save shot all the way down up to the point Bakers to make a point Tak to the point now right Point reverse shot sa uh puckets it out behind the net now I don't even know what happened kicked away Brer makes the pass all the way down as he they first penalty expired so mazic goes right back on the ice Baker on it Baker is able just to hold it now as he is holding it doing what we what they did to us two periods ago this is Hall he's skating down with it now into the Zone makes the move he tries to make a play Reverse Pucket stick away PS right back down he loes it down himself takes it shot blocked by
057Baker Baker didn't know where it was he gets right back to him sticked Away by Maza 47 seconds the go on the power play back to Hall to the middle of the ice Maza makes a move around Hall gets into the neutral zone Maza can't do anything Maza gets taken down and Hall's going to go to the bench or the box for interference or holding they're even holding which is weird but yeah take it great work on this great work on this PK from the forwards especially you saw Kevin Baker pinning the puck against the boards there and you know hard work pays off from Joey Maza there a menace searching for that Puck and making that chip off the boards to get the puck out of the Spartan zone so four on four here
058for 34 seconds draw one back behind the goal line draw gets all the way out Reed clubs it down Reed brings it in Reed takes it back hand to the middle shot save Cashman Erikson with a shot on net there Reed still has it gets held off the puck it's going to come out now Gala back on defense Peds a hit draa cuts off the middle lane pass to the front shot wide that was bad as Ericson has it chips it up the boards for the other Erikson he couldn't get a stick on it as it stays in the neutral zone as got the power play penalty has expired on Shaw as Shaw comes out onto the ice to the front nothing there mraa out now wide just takes himself takes it around has it
059HS the middle it goes on net but it's blocked stays in the middle takes shot on ericon goes wide Tam has to come back for it now he skates hard a minute to go on the power play sticked away Brewster on it Brewster has it pass back to Erikson Ericson right back to Brewster Brewster holds right back to Erikson skating up now ER makes a move that's what a pass to kley kley has it into the middle of the ice down into the corner Spartans are on the power play TI holds it around kway to the middle gets sticked away goes into the corner right back down no Spartans are on it back shot up the boards chipped around Brewster 30 seconds to go on the power play Spartan still Trail by one k Reed
060on it K Reed up the boards the russco russco reverses russco passes across for ericon great play ericon couldn't get the whole catch of the pass but he's on it though shot out of the Zone back into the neutral zone Brewster over the re Reed back to Brewster 10 seconds to go on the power play Brewster up gets picked off telegraphed there right back in that's going to kill off the power to play as teams are going to even up now five on five play pass across to the ice that's to re Reed up the up the ice for ruso R could get everything on itco gets it around though into the corner get held up kle clct kle makes the move and just gets out of the point no handle of Puck going be
061a break to the middle p goes just in front of the Westside player chipped up the boards to the red circle take it shot on net over the Nets Baker on it Baker reverses up to ericon ericon makes a move west side player Falls actually worked out for him comes right back up shot sh chips it in Shaw behind the goal line Shaw KS the body off pass the front nothing there sha back down for those Baker [Applause] nothing the boards chip up R's back on defense shot on net save Reed weird bounce behind goes it to the front of the net that was dangerous Baker up on it Bakers has to get it out gets held up can'ts and that's off ref having a talk with Captain yeah quite an interesting sequence there uh
062I thought the Spartans power play was all right I definitely like to see Braden Erikson get the puck on net a lot more a lot of his shots go wide and he can really blast it I think obviously the power uh imbalance that's where it comes that the puck just goes up or wide I liked Keller Reed on that power play as well when he took the puck in deep Roman on it chipped all the way up it's up in the air down to eron ericon can't get anything on it goes deeper into the Spartan Zone comes to the front Kell Reed chips it up the ice almost a spring pass it's going to be should have been a delay off sides but they didn't call it Erikson tries to take it himself can't sh
063right back out blocked by The Ref shot right back in out's feet Smart's no communication k on it just dumps it in it's going to be an icing again to rehash it it's just those simple plays pucks and skates in the neutral zone and then it costs you a face off back in your own zone for the Spartans and you know it's just those little things that they need to clean up because you know even without the communic they do still get good chances in the offensive zone but if they're able to get that communication even more opportunities will come their way absolutely see defensive Zone face off with the Spartans following the icing is dead quiet in here hear a pin drop it's up to the point taken shot blocked wide raso gets stick
064held up madala is going to take it though M can take it himself madala up the ice tries to pass across from kley gets tipped away into the Zone kley on it kley lays a body ericon on it ericon lays a body sp's all out effort here trying to get something going chip gets around UHA goes back into the deep into the Zone re sticks to the corner good play by re to get it up the front Brewster has it Brewster Waits holds it fires it up the ice to kley kley has it kley taking chipped over to Erikson Erikson had a chance couldn't collect it round kley on it kley just reverses it back kley tries to lay body shipped up Gro gloves it down body on Gro Baker chips it right back in
065it's going to go out of play yeah these last few minutes of the third period a whole lot of nothing from both teams still more than half the period to go here but I'd like to see that energy turn on for the Spartans which was on Face Off The Baker line out Down K Reed just reverses it back up to Baker baker has it entes his Zone Baker the move shoots it around the uh Nets as it gets hit hard comes out gets round read camon has time to collecton shoots it up the ice that's a great pass to Baker baker has it shot on net save rebound still there get shot out Puck chipped out into the Spartan Zone Keller collects Keller holds fires it up gets a round that's Maza Maza has it
066Maza has a break Maza to the middle shot St what a stick save by Cashman that was huge lucky I would say Maza has it takes it shot over the net for Shaw Shaw shoots it down for big shot to the front nothing there Puck Carri by Paul into the Spartan Zone gets it around erison ra a body takes them both down Naza on it Naza has it himself Maza chips it around for himself Maza tries to get around second time he can't Shaw on it pass all the way across to auin auin takes it up shot on that save Reed as he swallows that one up yeah that sequence there for the Spartans was created it all started with great passes well-placed passes from both Keller Reed and cam Erikson that kept the plays
067alive and obviously Troy Cashman again has been not you know one goal against but he has been terrific in this one and once again denies the Spartans hell I don't know what that was hit the class going do a re what they even have like a word for reace off strict on the face off Puck one to the boards sparts can't get it out graso kicks it again been playing soccer today he's been kicking well that's trip up no call taken into the Spartan Zone Brewster on it Brewster revers it that's right to the middle puck in front over across thankfully nothing there a reverse to the front of the net ran pass across for Ferrero ferero can't can't collect shot right back down to Brewster Brewster has it Brewster Waits fires it up the
068boards the right look the terrier player blows a tire shot up to Roman Roman trying to get it out held up by the Blue Line shot back up that's what a pass ferero couldn't get there it's going be an icing right back down to the Spartan Zone defensively I think the Spartans just need to clean it up a little bit better around their net and they need to to locate the trailing man I've seen a couple of times this period when at first glance there's not a terrier out in front of the net and then next thing you know wide open there uh you know fortunately for the Spartans Owen Reed again has been fantastic in this one that's down behind the goal line c eron on it kicks it that comes up to kley
069kley passes it up I think go a little too early to pass but nonetheless it gets out and draa carrying in with speed dra on it raise a body makes a ball pass to the front Erikson shot save Cashman rebound I think cash just held it sto a play I like that play there by mraa he doesn't lose sight of the puck and he doesn't give up on the play you know I always like to see Mike mraa Step It Up physically and get on the scoreboard goes through it's behind the West Side net no I'm not sure what that was it was like a stoppage of play pass gets around shot all the way around goes around re it's be icing no no icing on it up for raen a chips it around right
070back in the neutral zone West Side collects shoots a right back down a backand by Keller Reed that goes to the Nets uh scary one there right back down in Spartan Zone across for Reed Reed up for Baker baker has it Baker across the Blue Line Baker fast Baker in Middle tries can't just reverses leaves it for I think that's erison Aron takes it reverses it down the Westside player is there shipped into the Spartan Zone rosos has to get there graso does the board versus Groo shoots it right back up that's going to go to the points he's chipped around but it gets blocked Erikson couldn't pick it around ER goes off for the change sh right back down that's on Reed Reed makes the save but he holds yeah you know Braden Ericson
071is a great player but you know in this game certainly not his best there's been a couple of giveaways a couple of chances where he's just skated right into defending players uh and then again how we talked about a lot of his shots gone wide or above the net draw one back Gro has it Gro reverses shoots it up the boards gets it to Maza Maza out to Baker Baker over to Shaw clean break out from the Spartan Shaw takes it Shaw takes it shot on net wide RS right out for raso raso just dumps it in on to Cashman Cashman sticks it down chipped up almost out stays in Spartan's on it chips now it's chipped out down to Gro Gro gloves it down holding against the boards under four minutes to go to
072play in the game Baker tried to take it couldn't gets out gets around Shaw back to Brewster Brewster holds passes it up that's to Baker Baker can't collect it look it'ss around grao is going to get there first Gro holds Gro reverses gets it sticked away from him Reed takes it and coveres it up [Applause] you know it's unfortunate that Brewster was the only man back there for the Spartans but I did like the idea there from Shaw to drop it back to Brewster first and then try to switch the ice and get the puck going the other way to hopefully get a break into the offensive zone but unfortunate Terry's did a good job at collapsing the net and creating that opportunity under four minut to go in the game pass up to the
073points Roman it's a stick it's goes into the neutral zone he play by Roman shot back down kellerer can get there pass up can't get around now it is shot all the way blocked by The Ref stays in by the ref ref gets high sticked Puck is just sitting at the point comes in call takes it shot on net save Reed L can't get it out ruso on it ruso carries her across the Blue Line ruso shot on that save Cashman another shot save Cashman it's goes he scores from behind the goal line Rustico what a goal some uh Taste of their own medicine Springfield as the rest are discussing they're discussing the play I mean it's a it's a goal no oh Lord Oh Lord not again a lot of terriers fans behind the
074net doing the no goal signal but I mean you're discussing it I could see what do they they count it a goal they're not call they're not calling a goal it's no goal but I just want to know into the decision why yeah why what's what's the deciding we're trying to see the replay on the camera I don't think we'll be able to see it because it was the short side I don't know I don't know we we'll see about that one we could not see it but you know referees should not listen to the fans behind the net because if the Spartans fans had their way last Monday it would have been a Spartans win but uh of course two two weeks a row is uh it's something else can't help but laugh under
075three minutes to go in the game Dan Reed having a grand old time talking to the referee I can't imagine what he's thinking no it's crazy I mean you know credit to Jack Rustico similar to Le's like uh Red Line shot earlier on in the season exactly goes in uh rusco has it I excuse me that's uh Roman get my RS cross pass up shot out of the Zone it stay it gets out barer has to get there does off sides delayed off sides ker can pass it up to ruso ruso has it R get sck away ruso Falls stopage a play they thought they thought he was hurt so they stopped it luckily this time with the no goal call there is still time on the clock two and a half minutes left here
076to go for the Spartans to you know get one in Legally I guess yes that's been a problem last time these teams have been played playing got to watch for the goalie pull they want it they went it back to Brewster Brewster can't get much on Brewster gives it awayer just takes it back though Brewster makes a move gets sticked away pass gets blocked by his own player draa takes it passes it over to kley kley fires down the ice missed pass there no icing up to Brewster Brewster passes it down to Malla mraa can't find it now comes around it was up in the air M could see it pass up to the point Halls has it the captain takes it around gets tripped up they're going to no call they're going not call
077the trip pass comes across k has it kley comes in kley makes it to the middle P shot of net save Cashman dra on it h Erikson fighting M gets hit that's up to the point kept in M raso PA makes a move around takes into the Spartan Zone he holds it takes it right back in Slap Shot blocked and goes out of play certainly chaos at Olympia Ice Center these last three minutes have been crazy it is unfortunate that with both of these contests against Westside all you're going to think about is what ifs what if the goal was actually called a goal uh but again still time to redeem themselves if you're the Spartans and with 120 to go coach Reed calls a timeout I believe that in call that a goal because
078the ref did blow the whistle but the Spartans did celebrate before he blew the whistle so I don't know it's weird because either way one of the Spartans must have seen that the puck was trickling in behind Cashman as good as he as good as he's been that puck must have gotten behind him even if it didn't cross the line MH so we ask us like pretty much every timeout in these close games Mike what do you think is going to be the key here to tying this game up so the key is it's got to be it's pressure it's you need pressure you can't let it squeeze through the Blue Line you got to keep it in the zone you got to get shots on net you got to get someone in front of
079the net that's the most important thing I think with the six on five I don't know if they're going to pull read now or wait but it did go out of playe near the Spartan zone so it might be an in zone face off but you need to take shots on the Nets and get someone in front of the net preferably kley he's tall he's going to take up most of the room they just need to get someone in front of that and hopefully put a rebound in yeah you'd love to see a dirty goal here like it would have been if Rustico had scored that one but more in the sense that there's tons of bodies in the crease and then the puck is sitting there finds the back of the net something like
080that you'd love to see face off one back Reed shoots it around the ice as a couldn't get a stick on it Spartans flying after mza gets a stick on it P still in eron on it eron fires up the boards into neutral zone stays goes around into Spartan Zone Reed reverses over to uh Shaw Shaw takes it Owen Reed's going to come off now Baker takes into the Zone Here Comes Reed and they aren't smart with the puck chipped all the way down he's going to stay around Erikson on it Erikson makes the play Ericson gets interfered with hit by Reed up Maza cross the ice to Baker Baker pass it to nobody shot goal Westside scores puts it in 3-1 no goal no goal no no goal for why I don't know I
081can't tell you I don't know no goal they're saying something I I don't I don't I don't I don't know I don't know anymore I don't know to believe I would love to know the reason but you know guess's off sides which doesn't make sense cuz he's in the neutral zone but hey anything keep this game within one again the error from uh Baker though is something the Spartans cannot do in this situation is be frantic with the puck not pick their heads up right Baker wins it around into the Spartan Zone Spartans do have it though Ericson up to Baker Baker chips it around B need to get there reverse up to the point gets out shot goes down the ice stays in the neutral zone K re can get there 25 seconds to
082go reverses it back up Erikson leaves it blocked by uh Braden Ericson BR ericon Mak a move under 20 seconds to go BR Erikson taking it Inon does get into the Zone he holds it takes it to the middle puck gets thrown it's a Nets off 10 seconds to go a stoppage of play great play there by Erikson had two Spartans streaking to the net pass got all the way across but no one able to get their stick on it 10 seconds to go Face Off is coming out the neutral zone spart needs to Hope spart need to hopefully win the draw and get it in as quick as possible 10 seconds to go 10.3 raw one all the way down the ice the clock is definitely going to bleed out before Spartans can get
083anything on it 3 2 one and the Terriers beat the Spartans 2-1 you know we had been saying that the Spartans really need to have this game now they are five six and one on the season and a competitive Barry League uh certainly A Better Effort here from the Spartans in comparison to the Lancers game but again these games are crucial in division games uh you just have to move forward from this one in a little bit of a negative streak here but we'll see what the future holds for the Spartans throughout the season thank you for joining us here on elcat I'm Abby leage I'm Mike peard we see you next time wa wait
