001evening everyone welcome to East St metal girls opening home game here at Angus Arena quick Bas by Emma gos I'm host Jeff mne along with my co-host Steve venu hey welcome everyone happy Winter happy holiday season as Jeff was saying Spartans home open here against the east or the West Springfield Terriers after that basket by Emma goson that's some's first lead of the year test Al brings it up looks to Sabina mck outside they play a high motion offense 131 looks like the start should be a good match up tonight here between the two of them job K Marino at the point gives the ball to Sabina fakes takes to the basket and it's up and in very good four nothing Spar nice take by m get to the C get the easy bucket Spartan
002starting a man-to-man defense Stevens on ball Spartans move the perimeter ball is up for three and Frozen between the rim and the backboard that'll be a alternating possession the ball will stay here Spartans have had a kind of a little bit rough start this year currently 0 and three three played against three good team very good teams Pittsfield a great team Springfield International losing to the other day against La medow yep good game against L hopefully they can keep up the pressure like they did there East L looks to deny the ball on the inbounds pass falls on the floor gosin Stevens tied up alternating possession East L ball very well done Scrappy team Scrappy team here in East L both four girls on the floor for that's what I like to see good harded
003hustle west side looks stend full full court pressure it's like a zone no maybe a Man Press yeah we go look to the middle ball intercepted by Westside oh out of bounds over the past years watching uh Turner she's she seems to always be quick on on everybody so one of those things you're not going to be able to dribble by her oh got to make that pass crisper all the way through intercepted by PO for the basket [Applause] 42 kind of goes right down the sideline dou team Tess swings over mne there we go mne over midc Court looks to operate from the point Sabina calls out the play Tess goes to gosin where she's tied up by Martinez another jump ball alternating possession goes to West Side some discussion about whose possession this
004ball happens to be on the alternating possessions coach Gary says it's our ball okay and it is Westsides ball though looks like Westfield got the first jump ball earlier on [Applause] correct Spartans continue to stay in that man offense Turner goes over to O'Brien swings the ball to PO oh nice defensive play by Marino coach Gary looks to push the ball quickly Marino sets the point gives the ball to the high post Goslin and she's fouled en go the leading scorer this year she's doing a great job getting the ball and driving off the dribble kicking to the the hoop scoring most of our baskets driving in isto inbounds looks to swing the ball reverse swing back to Ken Marino for the three-pointer it's up oh bounces around Jill in for the jump ball well
005[Music] done who said Steve I think this is going to be a feisty little match up between two teams good fight and ball go back to easto the play is called for a stack looks to go inside oops just a little over the top of gosin Turner takes the ball brings it in and we're tied up at four a piece just over five and a half minutes remaining in the first quarter that's quick ball work by es meow beat the Press they work the perimeter K goes inside Emma gosin plays up and in excellent nice drive by Emma Emma also leading team with free throw shots and free throws made gets herself ready for one of two at the line makes the first yeah like you were saying Jeff sometimes you worry about players that
006are afraid to take it to contact Emma is very good about taking it two and through contact all the way to the basket most of the time taking two or three girls with her yeah of course good shooting both free throws go down six to four East Long Meadow Spartans in zone press there try to trap the ball at midcourt w Springfield's able to beat it to the opposite side Turner looks to set back to Peabody Peabody to PO po back irons the three ball is batted around and Joe Stevens onor it coach Gary calls timeout to preserve The easto Possession five minutes and 15 seconds remaining in the first Spartan six carriers for think if we can turn around Steve beat the press a few more times get them to back off with pressing
007us the whole game that way there we'll be good drive in can Kickstart our outside shooting that'll free up our to get the ball down low that would one of the nice things we'd like to see there's been a that we'd like to get that outside game going a little bit that would be nice that's something that's been it's been a been a slow start on the outside shooting in the first few games I think once Ken Marino gets going that that'll be a big difference maker yep okay the horn has sounded referees have called for the teams to come back out of the timeout East L possession at their own end of the floor looks like West Springfield will extend at least half pressure some dis disagreement uh looks like they'll pick up at
008half [Applause] court Marino swings it to mcky mcky goes to Goslin Emma looks to take finds Sabina outside nice ball fake ball goes back to Kenna up top motion offense she'll rotate it to denal denal goes to Jill Stevens long one from outside pulled down by Martinez po looks to press the tempo for Westside Turner swings it to O'Brien nicely covered and helped on good helps side defense by the Spartans shot is up off of Jo Stevens like Believe last year's game uh Turner had a pretty good game against us I he might have hit a bunch of three-pointers yeah you want to try to prevent that yeah so looks like test Den Al out and uh Grace blaze in for Ison meow isow looks to deny the inbounds pass Martinez Frozen gives it back
009to Turner Turner works the perimeter back to O'Brien O'Brien to PO back to Turner a lot of perimeter very difficult to get any penetration here they go O'Brien takes it in Wild Well Done Marino looks to find someone kind of looks to turn Sabina swings it to Grace Blaze inside to Gosa nice ball good inbound pass nice turn nice move good interior passing I we keep getting into getting into Emma her keep taking taking the ball at Martinez I don't know if they have too too many too many bigs on their team so if they if we can get some of them into a little bit of follow trouble that will open up the inside Kenna comes over and help side good job good job get a jump ball good heads up defense by Marino
010to come over and dou very active defense from Spartan so far looks like they'll play man on the inbounds Turner pops loose back to Nicholson Nicholson to O'Brien Turner looks to operate tries to penetrate can't get in long one from po front iron rebounded by Sabina M Marino looks to push goes long to Grace Blaze takes the ball to the cup nice nice take by and between Grace blae and Emma goth and their first step driving to the hoop is it's a quick First Step that they have and blow by The Defenders they get to the hoop pretty strong I would imagine this sub will be for Martinez that's her second foul in the first quarter Y and it is Kissle in for Martinez I take that back about getting size looks like they got
011a little bit taller on that one and Grace Blaze makes the second three and a half minutes remaining uh 94 East Long Meadow Gosa looks the trap on the corner plays there as well ball rot Ates to Turner then to O'Brien O'Brien with a nice move mcki plays good defense follows on the floor nice take by O'Brien to get to the hoop follows on the floor Caitlyn Beacon for Ken Marino Kaitlyn beat one of the few freshman he Som has on the team denial man denial good defense on the inbound Brian tries to operate in the perimeter can't find anything inside Turner takes good by another great rebound by Jill Stevens gets there puts her hands up and then gets the rebound after the missed shot C with the ball fake rotates to the top
012brings the ball back Sabina operates from the side looks over to Caitlyn beak beak ball fakes looks to penetrate back to Goselin on the perimeter Emma looking for Grace Blaze outside nice interior pass Jill with a good quick ball back to Emma Goslin good ball [Music] movement out of B yes well done Emma had them leaving their their feet on that fake inbounds pass from the side Marino in for mne and it looks like for it looks like Kio in for Turner for West ball goes to uh Marino at the point she looks to reverse it back to beak beak with a good look back ey kin's able oh almost good hustle good Hustle by The Freshman yep metal will go manto man screen set on the ball o ball goes inside to number five
013follow there by Blaze some good pick and roll basketball you don't see that enough no You' think that you'd want to be able to do that more more often Emerson Bo is in along with mne in for blade and Jill [Applause] Stevens so after a Miss on the first West Springfield looks for the second end and drops it nine to five two minutes remaining slamto moves the ball quickly looks for a shot for Caitlyn beak and she has it oh can't knock the lid off looked good back in transitions two good looks by beak get get a shot off picks up o'ri Miss got to rotate quickly to that ball good box in out Saina mney living up to her billing from the game at the Mullen Center as the team center with another rebound
014here today so she patting the stats that's what she's doing slow reverses the ball here be and mney up top voo plays the high post gosin and ball is up and over and there you goon like maybe a tie up no call Nicholson looks to get through over no I was looking at the wrong line I thought that was over back but I was looking ball rotate good help rebound fought for and Martinez comes out with it rotates back to O'Brien screen set there they fight over the top mney nice defense in the post looks to push isto comes up one minute remaining Nine to5 East lto Ken Marino called for the rare carry yeah I thought they stopped carries back in a early Kobe Bryant test all in for Emma Goslin Joe Stevens for
015Emerson and test all looks like we had two substitutions there maybe I missed the first [Applause] one I think is's gonna tire out West Springfield there West Springfield is beginning to look a little little sluggish yeah and this is still very early we're still just under a minute inside the first quarter here West Springfield moves the ball around the perimeter looks to Nicholson Nicholson back to O'Brien O'Brien tries to find good hands by Jill stle inside couldn't do it beak looks to push to mcky mne sizes up options brings it back to the top to reset it beak with a great ball fake reverses the ball back to mney out to denal denal looks interior that was nearly an interior pass to mney just under 20 on the shot clock marinaa goes to be takes
016the ball the basket nice dish to Jill Stevens nice finish by Jill great pass by good spatial awareness on that play 15 seconds remaining Nicholson on the outside O'Brien looks to go denal to Martinez martinz the basket and that should oh that's touched no foul no foul looks like she touched it before she uh good half good first quarter by the Spartans 115 the end of the first quarter good game so far W Springfield put up a quick uh four four points but it's been a good uh it's been a good go since then yeah very spirited first half Spartans play with a lot of intensity uh from from whistle to whistle they are very very uh very aggressive and very intense Coach Gary likes to push the ball after a rebound yep and then
017play chess the rest of the the half court offense yep West Springfield playing in that uh two3 zone defense once again if we can start getting those if we can knock down a couple shot maybe they change it up to a 32 then that opens up a lot more for the girls down low yep but hey I think it's what Caitlyn be did Drive Baseline and then hit the girl the cutter coming in the middle hit the trailer more of that yep any of that where you can sort of draw that defensive attention and then slot that pass right through nicely done okay we'll look to reset as the second quarter starts with West Springfield inbounding the ball at midcourt Turner sets from the point east long medow plays what looks to be a zone
018at this point rebound long to test an Al mne is able to settle but Springfield extends a little bit of pressure second carry call a quarter and a half you might go the rest of the season without seeing two carry [Applause] calls lto looks to continue their manto man defense couple of Baseline screens set by West Side yep Emma gosin with a hand on it fought for the ball ball bouncing around he out a ball like Turner's going to play man up look like a like a box in one it looks like at this point on that defensive effort one more yep it's all right Stevens in trouble looks to gos nice interior pass yes there we go one two quick passes get the ball down low well done let's see if West Springfield can
019get something they they've had nothing going on offense the last couple of possessions they're trying to Baseline cross screen and it's not not opening anything up for ball gets reversed to Turner nice help defense there still no penetration it's really tough for West Springfield to get the ball in there there's no screens they're just looking to go oneon-one and and they don't seem to have a lot of longdistance shooting threats so no we'll see mne Works Turner and again if she's going to play Saina that far out the whole game she's going to get tired fast great rebound yep nice initial tip by osin and then Jill got it beautiful well done yeah if that if they're gonna end up having Turner marking up mne out on the outside and she gets a a pass
020along the side but just lot of open space in the middle they don't have they don't seem to have a big out there right now no Stevens to denal denal goes inside to gossip for three yes Jill Stevens for a three-point basket that's what you were talking about Jeff get that in and out y 15 to five Spartans at this point I think that's our first three-pointer of the season I believe that's right nice switch there looking to ball screen nope shut off and denied look to go to defense by Jill Jill with the blocko looks to play this extended defense again oh ken not looking for that ball from Sabina Turner gives the ball outside to Nicholson nope another rebound for Stevens Sabina looks to play they back off on that pressure a little
021bit not quite as extended as it was before lot to be had in the middle if there's something there long rebound to leonti PO goes to Turner Turner looks up screened by Nichol nice switch good defense by Marino Caitlyn beak in for [Applause] testal denial manto man denial oh that's an elbow yes it is by Turner that's two elbows I saw them both from here yeah and we know that Ken is not GNA take that from her so that not that's GNA be a fun match up to watch the rest of the game beak on the ball there with Peabody turn po looks to take it nice block byma eight on the shot clock I don't know if West Springfield realizes the shot clock has not reset no doesn't get the shot offense excellent defense
022Gary happy with 35 second shot violation there we go that's good anytime you can keep them 35 seconds while getting a shot is always a good thing so with four minutes and 40 seconds remaining in the second quarter uh eastl meow leads West Springfield 15 to five defensive intensity I think has been very good uh like you said we opened it up with some some good looks on the outside Jill hit that three so good things Jee yes the rest of the game I'm looking forward to the matchup between Turner and Marino that I think that one's going to get interesting well especially if Turner continues to play the way she was yeah overly physical style yeah she wants to play physical that's great good for them but she just happened to pick the one
023girl on the team that's not going to shy off by giving it right back so it'll be a good matchup for our our viewers at home to watch very rarely do you see your uh two guards on the teams with the physicality most of the time it's always a big giving to not so today and I think the coach from Springfield saw what was going on and he giving Turner a little bit of perap gives her a little bit of a talk and a Breather Breather looks inbound Against full court pressure from Westside beak with the ball looks to break the pressure on the dribble and she does oh unfortunate tough pass bounced a little Ohi scraps for it well West Springfield gets the turn off out of the press ball screened by Martinez tries
024to free up O'Brien she's stuck at the up up top ho going to be screen by leonti oh you got to be able to make that reverse pass quicker if you're west side martinz goes outside nothing doing de on the floor possession will stay with West Springfield EA will go man on the inbound deny anything to the center kenal watch any Cutters oh yeah nice Springfield would be easy too y 221 press from West Springfield beak with a nice bounce pass nice finish by excellent job apply some of their own pressure here ball goes to Martinez to the middle outside leonti leonti over to O'Brien at the point green by Martinez nice hands Kenna po has the ball double tra quick whistle quick whistle what I like seeing so far is from The Freshman Caitlyn
025beak that's two times she's gotten into trouble and made a good pass both of them lead to an assist getting a an easy basket for Esa metal and I've noticed she's a real she's a she uses a bounce pass better than almost any it's just something you don't see a lot of current players she stays very composed a lot of times freshman getting into this level at this speed she's doing a very good job for ES M this year as Caitlyn be gets a breather and Grace Blaze gets in West Springfield gets another turnover off the press they move the ball to po po looks to shoot back rims it Grace blaz with nice Tap Out Saina mcky takes it all the way in oh she was not set you can see him waiting to
026make that call yeah rather than watching The Defender can't assume she's going to get there you got to watch the whole play in any event 221 press from East Low they with Springfield beats it long initially but the Spartans recover no damage done leonti swings it to po po front iron mnei looks to clear and she does mne with screen by Stevens who then rolls Grace looks on the perimeter oops got to make be sure of those passes that's off with Springfield good play by Jill Stevens nice pass by Emma re blaz going to the line for two so blae will have two at the line nothing but net on the first one tested all in for Sabina mne Grace blade is usually a very good free throw [Applause] shooter excellent job please goes two
027for two at the charity strike so with an 18-7 lead with 245 197 they gave they they were late on that that first free throw so yes um denal andinho back in they play manto Man against the Westside offense calling out screens lots of ball screens they're doing a nice job switching and fighting over good job over the top good help defense no overly aggressive so that'll be a West Springfield possession on a foul on the perimeter Turner back in looks to operate on the point oh lack of concentration there and the ball goes through her hands gosin will inbound to Marino as they set to work their set against man-to-man defense from from West brif ball goes to a cut in Goslin terrific cut nice take great cut great reverse cut two shots for
028rattles home the first one BLS in for voo beautiful shot she's four for four from the I don't think we've missed one from the stripe yet 21 to7 East meow leading Hands by that's like the Swarm time tonight chills her defense has been excellent tonight yeah marinho looks push it up nice pass Jill Stevens well Stevens with an easy two transition bucket nicely done nice to see the big get down porch tips the ball off the West Springfield Miss gets the bucket at the other end I know we alluded to this earlier Jeff but it's you know West Springfield came out with four points relatively quickly in that first minute or so and they mustered three points in almost the entire half since then yeah I think the only points they have this half is
029off the inbound yeah oh that's right yeah it's the only one that they that they've had Eve Butler in for Emma gos West Springfield looks to inbound under their own basket can't get it in five oh thought we had a 5-second violation good turn can't get out Dalal covers it up everybody on the floor there we go good fight on there that'll be East slow ball West Springfield will extend full court pressure manto man it looks like well no looks like his own press sorry oh no but now we're gonna go back to well they can't decide two pressure up maybe a two21 Zone press here I think somebody was going rogue half something theal out Goslin in and the ball goes to Goslin almost banked one in from the side that's tough to do
030Turner looks to press nothing doing goes to po po goes to O with a clean look can't knock it down rebound inside Kell I think has maybe all their points this quarter I don't [Music] know Grace Le to go she's hand check fouled there takes to the basket is also fou there don't know if two girls are going to get both get the block on that one a good take by Blaze nevertheless so with under a minute West side looks to shoot the three deep po does not draw any iron on that one good board by Eve Butler yep about a seven second difference between the game clock and the shot clock here thought we had our third carry of the half no call though that one could have that was the one that would
031have been the other ones ball goes to Stevens in the corner well done st's got to be in double jiz for today's game already 6 to9 just under 16 seconds switch on the ball screen switch on the ball screen again no penetration from Westside whatsoever they cannot get into whistled for a foul there with four and a half seconds remaining I think West Springfield was waiting for East meow to take the last shot yep on that three they got a good look and took it Jill has a nice look and bangs down the second y three-pointer of the game West Springfield misses the first mni checks back in for the last four and a half seconds of the half po looks to drop this one and does not's got three and she got absolutely fouled
032but nevertheless East is taking a commanding lead of 26 to9 going into halftime we'll be back with you in 10 minutes e e e all right and we are back minute left before halftime ends Steve what do you think Esa meow should do coming out in the second half well I mean I guess the easy answer would be to say more of the same because that would be good uh but I guess you know in all seriousness continued youd really maintain that defensive pressure because the 26 offensive points is great but what's more impressive I think is only allowing nine keep up that defensive intensity deny any kind of interior scoring I think you're in uh you're in good shape how about you what's your prescription for the second half I think we have to
033we have to do a little bit better job here at half court I think that's where a lot of our turnovers have been has been uh in the transition getting down into the other I think once we set up in our offensive zone we're doing good things throughout and hopefully we keep that up so the the East Lal ball to start looks like back to the original starting five uh here we go third quarter just about underway the referees are set to go and Marino inbounds to Goslin for the long three just short test all nice rebound ball tipped around batted around Turner comes out with it misses the layup well defended by mne and gosin fights for the rebound and that'll be West Springfield [Music] ball any when it comes to Turner I think
034she's got a a lot of left hand yep not going in there with the right- handed layup and throwing it hard off the glass little bit different I think she's a lefty so West Side tries to run a stack play nicely defended by easto ball goes outside to Martinez Turner swing to O'Brien who tries to take o tough hand check foul on Marino it'll be an inbounds under under the basket extended they will go box this time instead of Stack screening across nicely defended goes to PO looks to score and rebounded by Stevens Marino brings up for the half court set mne's got it up top defended by O'Brien it looks like a switch that they've made there on some of the defending nice interior pass to Jill nice feed to go that's a good
035Inside Out Pass Emma coming strong to the hoop and Jill Stevens with a nice pass to it and it was good it was a nice interior pass from sainaa to Emma and then Emma with that shov or Jill the other way it was nice Emma gosin at the stripe again third time tonight Goslin making a living at the free throw line tonight beak replaces Marino and gosin with another free throw 27 to9 28 to9 excuse me Spartans slamto extends halfcourt man-to-man pressure and immediately gets dividends as Turner dribbles off of her foot the K looks to operate against O'Brien moves the ball to denal over to beak Peak to denal denal inside to Jill oops up and over tough pass to handle oh quick foul on him a gosin like good defense [Music] there the
036only thing you don't want to do you don't want to get yourself you don't want to get yourself into foul trouble that's the only thing you want to be careful of especially in the defensive end of the going in for a little reach in she probably thought she was going to be able to get it and go in for a quick two [Applause] off the back the back yes Spartans come down Corner nice look in fouled twice on that play neither one of them called Turner looks to operate brings the ball down presses through goes outside to PO for a clean look from three doesn't do it boxed out and rebounded by Lon gets out of the corner gets fou out there we to Pivot around be strong with the ball gets the fall she
037comes out and test an all back in West Stringfield stepping back up with a 221 press yep good one more Yep there it is a cross one more across there to sa there you go Goin fights through the contact as she usually does gets the shot up back to the free throw [Music] line I think a lot of times with Emma we're thinking that the girls are following her but I think when she takes her shoulder hits the girl's chest the girl hand just hits her in the face as the rest of her body gets pushed backwards a rare miss the line oops 29-9 6 minutes 9 seconds remaining in the third quarter eow looks to have a man-to-man full court press Martinez comes loose it's a second quick foul this this quarter on gosin
038GRE BL a check in for go believe Emma picked up her third F yeah that's the second like I said just in the last minute or so so that's probably the third overall our scoreboards light bulbs don't work yes blaz slides her feet good defense by Kenna dening this match up good help good help throws it away suffocating defense by the Spartans well [Music] done Nicholson and kle checking in as Martinez and Turner come out out for Westside reverses the ball back Tess looks to get it over and she does mne runs the point by O'Brien goes outside to nice move by K good ball fake oh just [Applause] short Nicholson runs the point here to O'Brien nice crossover push from [Music] behind might be a third fou from the teching I'm not sure easy
039call for the officials West Springfield will run the stack beac for m one hand one handed jump ball call fall on no jump call jump that was great job by Grace BL locking in that one hand on it terrific W goes to the middle Jill has time to turn if she wants to denal has time looks there to Marino then up to blae could take that shot how was that I was going to say that not a Clos line as Grace Blaze goes driving by I'll take that match up yes grease Blaze on the outside and yep K kle yep she's got the quickness to get past yeah running a box and Jill pops out get it out of the corner shoot it sure what the travel call was she had just received the [Applause]
040ball a p body in O'Brien bring the ball up O'Brien's got it here that looked like a moving screen and it was called well done Nicholson for the moving screen absolutely you can see that from here there we go and Emerson into the game for Jill looks to get set Jill Stevens a welld deserved break a hard screen right here feel coming you can I it's almost like you know the players involved yeah nice look looks to get a little foul get fou for the play saw Med up 20 points you're probably not going to get to too manyo continues in manto man Nicholson tries to get free she look like she double dribble dribble out nice pass out let's take two for side with the basket Ken Marino can't touch the ball without being
041called for a travel recently Grace Blaze out and Eve Butler in and it looks like belel Clark in for [Applause] tesol oh stack ran too early for Westside it's a broken play ball goes outside to PO defended there by Clark and beak beak ties her up well done good job by Beacon he SL out ball well done white call sideline box bonti checks into the game for Peabody Emerson's GNA screen across for we've got too many people here what's the ball blue [Applause] ball J Stevens checks in [Applause] for straight up keep W keep up step by E Butler Nicholson tries to inbound can't see oh but right there looked like a loose ball F that I don't know if I would have officials have tightened the way that they're calling things here and here's
042here's the problem with the way that this quarter setup is now set up in high school basketball they are now going to shoot for the last four minutes for any foul either way the quarter that's a long time to have Westfield shooting and us as well we have five they have five FS on us too hope you didn't have anything to do before the end of the quarter folks because it could be a while before the third is over this one's this one is going to be a long quarter makes the back end of the one and one current score is East Low 29 field 12 leonti looks to take the ball in sletto looks discombobulated on defense Tapped Out by Stevens to wow Coach Gary with probably a well well planned timeout things look
043a little bit loose for the Spartans right now just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter eam 29 was Springfield 12 just seems like the last like last last few minutes of this uh quarter just doesn't seem the girls are in the right places or knowing where they're supposed to be when they're set up Gary calls a timeout to get them reorganize yep get them going and that's you know it's it's great to be way ahead and that's great it it's it's easier I think for high school players not easier for any players certainly high school players to lose focus when you're you know you're ahead by 20 it's not a position they've been in at all this season so at all in the last few years I don't I don't think we had
044a commanding lead the last few years never mind so good time good time to sort of refocus like he said attention back to details what are we doing offensively what are we doing defensively Let it go from [Applause] there so we'll recalibrate the scale and we'll go from there Som comes out with Eve Butler Jill Stevens Ken Marino Briel Clark and Maya good defense Well Done Right Out of the timeout po tries to get up and get the basket and she's had a tough shooting night that's rebounded by Stevens we've said that a couple of times tonight I think that's been a huge difference between this game and other games Jill's grabbing a lot of rebounds rebounds yep ball goes outside to Butler with a nice in and out back E Butler with a CL
045nice shot another rebound by Jill wow that's not out of bounds that's a double dribble good job by Bell nice steal by B looks to set Co Gary sets up the play they regroup the ball goes from Marino to Butler with a clean look another [Applause] shot quick hands y well good the ball out of bounds good in intensity Spartans will pick up manto man at half court screen by kle Turner can't get anything loose double team there throws the ball [Applause] away I don't know he just called us he said that West Springfield player was out of bounds when Kenna hit it and I don't know about that one looked like Kenna hit the ball the other girl was out of bound and I believe correctly I believe correctly I heard a referee I
046know from the crowd saying if that was the case that shot clock should not have reset if they were going to say that that was a maintained West Springfield possession that shot clock should not have reset on that nevertheless but we got the ball back we got the ball back by good good defense by B Clark ball goes to Marino to bring it up she'll be picked up at midcourt by Turner Clark looks to Stevens Stevens back to Marino good ball movement what I like to see that should be a travel out of bounds I don't know as coach Gary just said tough to get a tough to get a foul 80 fet for the basket when you know that they're going to be you know when you know they're going to be shooting because
047of the rules the way they are that's situational awareness that's [Applause] all you know checks in for noes this is our free throw specialist I feel for the season 293 31 oh press strike we used here we'll get things set East slow looks to break the press the ball goes into marino marino goes out back to Butler oops Butler with has to make sure on the handle o shoulder of course it is I don't know if you you call hand follow somewhere else and then come in like a middle linebacker with your shoulder check out of bounds I'm not quite sure about [Applause] that oh I'm glad Jill got the foul but F on Jill was a lot less than the fall over here look like a ray Le down over here back RS said
048the way you'd hit a gunner on a on a kick trying to knock somebody out of bound on a kick off for a punch and football looks like the oo H yes it's a throwback for some of our viewers there very good Jill Stevens looks to make the second o rims out 2913 just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter Turner looks to go outside to Bri O'Brien inside to Martinez can't RI it another rebound for Jill dribbles out looks for help finds Marino goes from there oh long two too high for Briel will set their defense picks up manto man oh that's a tough call [Music] our scoreboard still says five but they have to be up to like 11 I think I don't I think once they get the five I don't
049think they even I think they know I think it's just that they know they're in the bonus yeah CU I don't think our I don't think our our B would even go into I don't know if it would go that high Turner misses the first and misses the second rips it out Jill Stevens with her hand on another rebound knocked away and will Westside extend their pressure they will isto goes into a press break Marino inbounding Stevens checks back to the ball good hand by Joe yep Canada can dribble through yep underneath Emerson ball first basket of the game great job by Emerson nice pass first first B by for Varsity career very good good job B thanks for the assist Eve yeah good nice bounce pass Butler to get it to there it is
050and rebounded by Belle good job to work for the guard there that's it oh stolen by Turner rebounded by Jill and she's fouled but no call Jill's 20th rebound today wi Chamberlain like numbers on the rebound she has to have oh nice bounce pass oh B got too excited nice gets the ball in the paint she turns around she's got her basket Shi get the ball over to Eve yes so we'll come up the score with reverse numbers here 31 for EO 13 for well done on the moving screen [Music] call Coach Gary asked for that call three plays ago he got it got his wish sometimes you have to point it out to the officials before they sideline box here oops Jill and everon run into each other on that one that's oh Clark
051dribbles out of trouble reset with Marino at the top oh it's a kick well they say no kick but very rarely do you see a pass that just hits the ground and rolls I don't think Eve had that much English on that shot pass back Toler another rebound for Jill Stevens and she's there we go she's nice pass shot Jill Stevens with another rebound wow she she definitely has 10 points quite possibly 20 rebounds oh I think I'm I think I don't think that's much of an exact I think that's probably right I think I I think one of the big reasons for us being up so much in this game is the fact that Joe Stevens is grabbing a ton of rebounds we haven't had any uh luck for previous three games well not
052not to interrupt Jeff I think that was I think that's five is that either five or is that blood on Martinez what is the call for why she's got to come out it looks like she's maybe it's a blood call maybe it's a blood call but yes no you're right I that's you're right that's oh Emerson rolls to the basket gets the re jump ball West Springfield [Music] [Applause] ball turn on the basket so po looks to shoot very rough shooting night there good rebound by Jill mishandled on the pass good slow it down Kenna pulls it back out 20 seconds left they'll play for one Spartans will oops y play for one play for one coming onel looks to take to the basket Emerson almost got got away with a foul there travel three
053seconds remaining not sure the Spartans will get much just don't throw it away turn turn turn could have foul but Advance the ball yeah Advance the ball good ball position with 2.1 seconds left to go go for the tip just a little bit of a there with the offensive pass interference trying to make some space yeah that's that's one way to clear oh in and out so at the end of three uh East lto 31 West Springfield 13 as we head into the last last quarter tonight so this is always this is always a tough situation to be in if you're a team that by Nature plays very uptempo and very aggressive with a lead like this you want to make sure that you're not you're not pushing it needlessly you want to save some
054clock when you can but you don't want to take your foot so far off the accelerator that you lose you lose your you know you lose your Edge from from turning people over right this thing is one of you're going to know West Spring Fields G to come out they're going to try to keep the Press it's one of those things if you get the easy bucket you get the easy bucket if not pull the ball back after you get over half court and work on your half court offense yep exactly right so it looks like the East starters will take the floor to start the fourth quarter Marino mne denal gosin and Stevens I don't know if we said it before that was a long third quarter yeah it certainly was denal comes off
055with a good look long rebounded by O'Brien looks to push the pace she runs to the top has nothing inside three by number one is that another offensive foul oh I didn't see what the call I don't he called they didn't come yeah they didn't come to the table to report the foul so it must travel y side out ball goes to Marino look like a kind of diamond press there to see so mcky back up top yeah [Music] pickpocket Turner goes for two 3115 seven and a half minutes remaining in the game gosin bring this the ball up gives it to to Marino there to Stevens goes inside out yep nice pass oh well done nice pass that's a great look great finish y it's moving without the ball that's looking for it that's
056good by both players well done O'Brien goes behind her oh oh great block by Emma Goslin did not look like she got her with the hand or the body that's a tough call that is a tough call unfortunately I think that's 's fourth [Music] foul grece Blaze checking in for Emma Goslin [Music] y so this will be a stretch where the Spartans will have to see if they can play without their go-to offense player in gosin free throw made by kle press continues mcky to Blaze Blaze looks to get out of it outside to Stevens back to the middle little bit ragged but they got it over o Almost Got Away With yeah take that Saina just off the rimfield throws it away for there gosin right back in guess he's had a conversation with
057her he's going to trust her to play smart stay off the stay off the ball Jill Stevens out of the game right right idea right idea Turner pulls out BS away and refreshes their off yep po goes back to Turner Turner looks from way outside o it's the really the first kind of any kind of long dist shot Westside has had the entire game last time I think Turner was here she hit a bunch of those well we could we could certainly do without her getting hot in the third in the fourth quarter rather we could stay away from that [Music] 're only and that's probably a probably an intentional foul well no just a regular common foul probably should have been obviously the coach from West Springfield also an off official herself and not
058happy with that call no I wouldn't have been either only up 13 now with six to go you need to yeah you got to try Settle yeah exactly certainly not panic time but like you said it's not it's not the 20-point lead that it was at one point so that's West Springfield going into that press o another steal yeah I would take the time it's a well well timed timeout for Coach Gary here get the troops back on the same page yep get back into the uh first quarter beating that press we got to turn around and seems like we get the ball on that press we put the ball down on the court and that's when they're the girls are collapsing on us we gotta make those quick passes around but the girls you
059know spread that offense out more you know and it's also it's part of what you talked about earlier and this is going to sound it's going to sound simple but it's I think it's true in order to win in order to know how to win you have to win and this particular group has not had a ton of experience with winning lots of games how do you play with a 13-point lead with five minutes left how do you salt the game away this has not been something that they have had a ton of experience with over the last number of years so you have to learn you know you have to learn how to win it how to play last minutes yeah you see this year a lot of the NBA teams they're up 20
06030 points and they're Pros are turning around blowing the 30o lead yep had better break the Huddle excuse I know they're two guards up top with Turner and O'Brien are just creating Havoc for for us we're doing a lot of turnovers and every time quick on the ball like that hopefully these officials can start you know they're getting away from the third quarter with calling a lot of follows on us and now it's kind of beginning to you know catch up hopefully the tides can turn and we can start getting some calls our way that would be nice Paul goes back to the Middle with beak nice bounce pass oops she's got it she's got it balance pass y good nice good finish that's the way to beat the Press beat the Press get the
061easy to and we can all go home Happy y little push by Kissle on Marino nice box out up top by beak rebound fought for Guess Who surprise surprise Jill Stevens Jill getting up from that play looked like a contortionist yes body spread out all over the floor grabbing that loose ball rebound West Springfield will run the stack hea will go [Music] man Turner looks to shoot again de be with the rebound yep quickly to Marino be Marino and Turner there oh travels right into the trap to stay out of that sideline trouble nice outside outside kick it out good nice pass by Ken all right Joe grabs her on re oh over the top that's over the and the shot clock reset you've got 35 seconds if you want it so very well done
062Marino looks the inbound out of the box Crossing screens well done Sabina has got the shot o just off the rim Stevens fights for another one beak on the BR as well West springield tries to come out dirty play by Turner kicking I behind the play they tied up and I I don't like that like I'm all for Hard Play I'm Not for the cheap no the cheap shots 3522 four minutes and 20 seconds remaining o nice move nice play Sabina with a great B and one terrific move at the perimeter by Sabina drew the defensive pressure had a nice detor to pass to gosin who finished through pre through contact great play by Emma nice finish she she's definitely one of the I think the strongest finisher that we have well done and once
063again she's at the [Applause] strike rebounded by leonti looks to push good hands by K bounds breaks up the play E Butler checking in for gosin little bit of offense defense maybe at this point to try to preserve emo a little bit we don't want her to get caught with unnecessary necessarily [Applause] right Paul goes out to PO for three makes it 3725 12-point game with four minutes remaining good pass by easy easy easy easy [Music] ball goes in the perimeter from saena to Eve Butler watch that if if West Springfield's going to continue to overplay let them overplay it and then get a back door cut let them come and jump that fake it and then go back door and let them anytime we've gone Baseline on them today it opens up so much
064because they they collapse every single time so you have that cutter going up the middle and if you're going to jump for those passing Lanes now let them jump and then play it back behind them that's nice nice take by Emma gosin good things happen when you go to the basket I'm impressed with this O'Brien she's she's a quick little player yep good Spar heads up player and a lot of looks younger yeah a lot of these players have played a lot of minutes for West Springfield too yes back after missing a couple free throws she's back on I think she's got to be 9 for 12 tonight from the line you're always you're always good with the numbers you're always good at the L that sounds sounds right I got my stat guy checking
065it out there go call that 10 for 13 for 13 right there we go Butler back in for Emma y three and a half remaining East L 39 West Springfield [Applause] 25 Turner brings the ball up Le he tries to moving screen again every time travel that's got to be a travel called the foul not sure how I feel about that call I think it's only a matter of time till Turner gets her picks herself up a technical foul I think she's going to be upset that they're behind she's playing a little bit wildly to see I love her the way she plays really hard and aggressive it's just that when something does go her away yeah nice box out nice box out oh and she's over the back I would agree Sabina dribbles through
066pressure gives it up to Kenna get over slow it down set it up use your time yep yep good smart play by not across the court no got watch those crosscourt passes no we don't need it we don't need it right now we do not need it keep those 10 foot passes quick short little 10 foot pass we don't need those [Music] yep well done I clear out nice take hold it J oh almost nice look by Ken Marino Jill right on it yeah she almost had it kened inbound under the basket Jill flashes out oh well done well done oh no no no no I don't know that's that's bad that was a good play to knock the a good play to knock the ball off the girls ankles very smart by Sab I
067think that's one of those plays where you're just out of out I mean it's it's on the sideline it's one of those things where you have the three officials you get that call they can see see it I mean because it was clear it's a beautiful smart play to oh we got it back that was a good back yeah so I think they he heard us say something I'll go with that good we did that that's the home ADV that nice look by K nice pull up shot oh in and out by gos gets her own with a push in the back good work by Emma two two and a half minutes I think he said she was out of bounds not sure I not sure I agree with that she made out of bounds
068because she got pushed but in any event two and a half minutes remaining Spartans uh maintaining a 14-point lead here 3925 just have to play smart deserve possession two and a half yep [Applause] it's a moving screen again every time yep good grab by be nice job good rebound by [Applause] Caitlyn Gosling in for Butler yep the offense defense substitution continues excuse me Po goes in for leonti for Westside nice kind of goes right by all right at some point when a girl's hand is going across K's body you do have to call the reach [Applause] that's west side shot goes up oh good job by Emma terrific terrific rebound by Emma gosin terrific rebound fouled after the rebound that's five she should be going to the line if that's five yes well done so
069we'll be shooting for the last minute and 50 six on any fouls that's also helpful for us gosin going to the line for the 14th time I'm gonna go back and watch if you're exactly right I'm gonna it's gonna be like working with a psychic I am oh nice [Applause] shot that's 11 for 14 so after the first free throw Goes West Springfield uses a timeout with a minute 56 remaining in the fourth quarter got a 15-point separation between the two teams in the Battle of East versus West East Long b 40 West Springfield 25 gotta just bring this one home at this point Jee yes well they keep following Emma and she goes to the line we will be because at some point they're going to just start following us every correct every play
070so it's to be no surprise who's going to get the ball right not quite sure if Emma's brother was as good of a free throw shooter as Emma is Paul was Paul just like Emma was was great at driving to the hoop I just don't know if he was making a a higher clip of uh free throws I think he was more us like the the Sha percent well I'll let you take that up with Paul I'll let you take that up with Paul later he'll get a good laugh out of it Emma with the [Music] second called for a violation Emma comes out and E Butler goes in on the substitutions that have become common place in the last couple of minutes to try to preserve Emma's viability with her fouls Springfield look to
071be in much of a hurry and I think you have to be at this point you got to go faster this I think they're going to keep looking to turn around and get the ball to PO a three I just don't got to go faster than that go Kenna grabbing the ball now she'll go to the charity strike coming into the game we'll have nolles Reed Blaze Clark voo so it looks like coach feels confident to give the give the game to the five subs or four Subs at this point and then Clark will go for on the shooter [Music] I don't know I don't know if Kenna was trying to do that I think she trying to miss the shot see if she stay out there a little bit longer that's the heads up
072play by screen coming my [Applause] it's still only four fouls so that oh they're going to call that a shooting foul Peabody goes to the line makes the first 4126 minute and 23 remaining misses the second front rims it rebound batted around trapped stolen by Clark well done just take it easy yeah [Music] easy pick him up pick him up pick him up [Music] [Applause] [Music] nice sorry that that was fan Fanboy me on the steel there good defense let them use that shot clock time let him go eat it up I like that match up out there too with PR yeah on Turner B's got quick hands two shots for Peabody in and out just under a minute 55 seconds remaining 4126 Spartans and eaml will inbound to beat the [Applause] Press Emerson getting
073down dirty for that one yeah shooting shooting shooting we've been shooting for an hour shooting why isn't a shot shooting shooting shooting we're shooting we've been shooting for two minutes vo goes to the L for two just off the back rib's out got that in o ni up by Caitlyn Reed Kendall re Kendall I'm sorry kend just Caitlyn be and Kendall Reed turned into the that was a hybrid right there yeah little bit of back and forth on the free throw shooting 4127 43 seconds left you're not going to be happy she missed the two free throws she most have got that from her her father's shooting oh believe me bounces around the iron go goti with a basket GS goes in forino Rim out 4128 43 second o got to be more careful with
074the ball see this is this becomes Troublesome with this always always shooting free throws especially so that's 4130 4131 game you hope a Tracy mcgr moment doesn't happen right I know good heads up played by God out bound retain possession take another second [Music] off W Springfield coach questioning the play some discrepancy has a conversation with the official about shot clock not sure Juju looks inbound the ball she does to Kendall Reed no foul no foul no foul no foul no foul no foul this is going to be an interesting finish 4133 with 25 seconds on I think the West Springfield complaint is that the clock is their contention is the clock is running after aade basket an extra second or so more than it's supposed to yeah but it should be it's not stopped
075it's continuous well well I don't know what her grape is there because you make a mask it's not it's not end play it's continuous why you see sometimes at the end of the game when there's 5 Seconds kid doesn't doesn't touch the ball because you have five you know right you have I'm not sure what the I'm willing to tell she knows what she's talking about I'm gonna go with her over these guys yeah sounds whatever it is over the years she's always whatever it is right whatever it is she's right I may not have it exactly go long go long go long go go go no foul no foul no foul I like to see a one-handed one on throw that's high off the back don't hit her don't don't foul smart play by
076Sabina to let it go let the time just run no foul no foul hold it put it up here no real need for a foul there but Jo Stevens to go to the line trying to patter Mass live stats toss up for today's player of the game between Emma Goslin scoring a ton of points Jill Stevens scoring a ton of points so I'm gonna go with Emma gosin offensive player of the game Jill Stevens defensive player I would think that's that's a I think that's great they both they both play terrific today Jill's got a double double nevertheless he medal we get their first win of the season in the books tonight with a 43- 33 Victory 4333 Victory well it's always a pleasure to call a game with you Jeff and we get off
