years I assumed that my email account had been completely disabled thank you Mr Godfrey I assumed that my email account had been completely disabled on September 19th I learned quite by accident that while I could not get into the email account people could send me emails and they did not receive bounce back messages that this account is disabled they're no longer accepting uh messages I was appalled to think that there were students and parents who had been contact trying to contact me thinking that I was ignoring them or brushing them off as being not important I tried sending myself a few emails to that account it took over a day for it to be um complete to send a bounceback message to me I informed Mr flag immediately that this was happening he didn't seem

to think it was a problem he said NOP it's disabled there's no bounce back I was still trying to send myself emails um then I requested for it to be immediately Contin like totally disabled it took over a day for there to finally be a bounceback message to me um I'm appalled that Mr flag didn't think this was a big deal um so then I open records requested these emails um under Wisconsin law Mr flag is allowed to charge me for access to those under Wisconsin law as well Mr flag can wave those fees I contend that he should wave those fees because these emails shouldn't even exist if Mr flag and his administrators had acted competently and ethically in the first place and immediately shut down that whole email I wouldn't be in this

problem of having parents and students thinking that I was ignoring them or brushing them off and and um I have asked this be an agenda item I've included board members on all of my communications with Mr flag um even including responses when the responses have come directly to me and I just think that these emails wouldn't even exist and I wouldn't even have to be here asking for these questions if Mr flag and his administrators had acted in a competent and ethical manner on January 20th thank you thank you Mrs Heisman he M ain't going to sound that uh nice no need to take notices has already been transcribed and can be read and meditated upon at black history for moral progress.wordpress.com page 44 4 I thought that I could finish up today but it

seems that I have to return once more unfortunately since we are a democracy the following address is directed to the public as well as elected school board members since my 2019 proposal has taken on a more direct approach to as a class in comparative religion from a mystical point of view it is recommended that the public refresh their Memories by rereading my last two score School Board transcription from from September 25th and October 2 3 by reading it it is more easily understood in part the wdp I's Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction vision for our youth according to the Wisconsin standards for social studies pamphlet is that they become civically engaged problem solvers who can critically examine their roles in local National and Global communities they are able to collaborate and thrive in our interdependent

World page four it is to believe that we are already almost a quarter of the way in the 21st century and it has indeed brought with it much change 2001 brought 911 which immediately led to our war in Afghanistan the longest war in US history as of today in the Israel's fight against the hamus terrorist has left 10,000 innocent Palestinians di dead and 1400 innocent Israelis the effect of this conflict on us soil has led to 38 88% increase in the anti-semitic and islamophobia hate incidents and caused much fear on our camp college campuses in my October 23rd transcript of the day's School Board of that day's school board meeting I broke down the wd's main component of the behavioral sciences and found that the science of Sociology led to a study of sociey Institutions

institutions include any nation's Church mosques temp and synagogues for a thorough study in social studies US history and world history in this 21st century this proposed class of comparative religion from a mystical point of view is a is a imperative at the last board meeting I mistakenly formed a question out of a statement I should have simply said the pen is more powerful than the sword this class in comparative religion from a mystical point of view is just a a more direct approach of my 2019 proposal mental yoga for the Youth a universal mental yoga contained within the holy books of nine out of the 10 great religions of the world and the way of life mind and philosophies of the single one that had no written word in this class of infinite human potential

we find that in the process of understanding it it also corrects many of man's social moral and religious dogmatic conventionalities one thing we find is that the word Islam Muslim and Sufism are generic terms the Sufi text of the 11 12th and earlier centuries not only reveals the proper interpretation of the Quran it also reveals the terrorists for what they are and it corrects many of the present Islamic communities laws and understanding a quranic interpretation that is further substantiated by it by being found as a universal understanding the same is true true of all other faiths an anthropologist will say that to know your own culture better you should immerse yourself in another culture I have found that the more you know about the other's Fai Faith the more you know about your own this

mental yoga class is based on a Tibetan yoga of knowing the mind in its nakedness and its universality is not a coincidence the Buddhist version is itself intensified and simplified as it's universally unfolds So within this Global study of society's primary institution we find advancements in all other all the other components of Behavioral Science we got about 30 seconds thank you thank you um yeah okay um I had to shut off the uh I shut off the my second WordPress site mental yoga for the Youth because it's no longer relevant um I use the term Tibetan yoga uh Loosely I don't like the use the word Tibetan I like to use the word bajana which really doesn't make much difference to anything um yeah okay one more time thank you thank you anybody else like

to turn this over to Dr flag for 2022 2023 academic achievement update the forward act data thank you Mr Sher uh before we get started here I those of you that in the view viewing audience uh that are in here with us tonight I there are copies of this report back there on the table for you I think I see Char's looking at it right now so that's great and also for our folks that are viewing on T on the TV our through the uh internet right now um if you go to our web page under the Strategic plan there is a pillar called achievement we have this report posted right there if you would like to access it right now um given our our technology and how the slides look on TV I'm not

going to be uh projecting the slid so I'm going to be talking off of off off of it right now so uh yeah so here we go so it's I'm going to go through the first of all key performance indicators um I we have established what uh at the administrative level what we call critical quantifi iable indicators of progress toward towards our intended result which is improving student achievement for our students so while students in grades 3 through 8 take the Wisconsin State forward exam which is our standardized assessment from the state of Wisconsin we are not reporting tonight on all grades to you we would probably be here for a lot longer I think there I'll explain a little bit why we choose third fifth and eth third what is important for us to

measure third grade is how our students are are reading that is probably that is the one of the most important factors that predict students reading achievement down the line it also is um it is a lifelong skill that students need and also there's been studies shown that if students are not uh reading by third grade we there's a possibility there will be some some disperate outcomes for them in life and it's important that we highlight at least start to highlight what our third grade achievement scores are fifth grade I chose we chose that uh as it's a transition into middle school and then eth grade as the transition into high school and on the DPI report cards which you will see um at the end of the month here when Once those become public the

state looks at third grade reading and eighth grade math for predictors of Student Success so those will be highlighted and of course the the high school Act and the prea scores is a state assessment that all students in grades nine and 10 take so we turn the page here to grade three forward data for English language arts this is this is the test of Reading Writing and and as as you look at the uh data here that's been disaggregated by overall proficiency and then as well as by the students identity we have if you look at the proficiency right now in third grade is we are 37.6% of our students in the fondel school district and third grade are proficient in the English language arts exam Accord uh by the that is put out by

the state of Wisconsin the great thing is we are on a steady uptick there from 23.4% from 3 years ago as you as you move across here I'm going to move across each student group here also just and then we'll I'll pause if there are any questions at as we do each each slide here students with disabilities we saw a nice jump up from 88.4% last year up to 207% of students with disabilities are proficient our our English Learners in third grade we saw a nice bump there 14.3% students who are white 46.6% are proficient reading up from 33.8 a year ago and 27 9 2 years ago students who identify as black we're at 99.4% well we're up from a year ago down from two years ago or where it was 10% students identifi

as Hispanic is up to 23.5% up from 13.6 two years ago and we had um a dip with our students who are Asian from 43.8 to 33.3 I think what's important here is all of our all of our students saw growth from last year to this year except for our students Iden ization in terms of our third grade reading scores or English language arts scores so any questions on that slide I'm just want to pause here to make sure I give time for that so I'm just curious um because this there was some nice grow growth in this third grade so um and maybe I'm not sure if this is for you or for Mrs renberger but what do you attest might be some of the reasons for the the growth I'll start I think

what we have is we have a defined um pacing guide and curriculum map for our for in in English language arts it's the second year that we have we just completed our second year really committing to the unit of study curriculum which we are under which we are also undergoing a a review of that but keep in mind when I arrived there was no expectations to use that curriculum it was merely used as a resource so I think that has been probably the biggest thing and then also is that it's we are we are expecting that our teachers use it thank you well and as we had some um schools come and present to us as far as teachers and principes on their big rocks and you know with Mrs Jones from chuin and stuff

and saw some she was second grade correct and so this is going to be excellent growth on implementing someone at the University of Virginia uh learning style too correct as far as training with the teachers I think the other thing which I didn't to add what Mr henchel said is that the the coherence of the system right now around the teaching and learning of of of of our curriculum it's expected and we inspect it and um we are we we have we have achieved very we've achieved coherence in a very short time as as folks are pulling in the same direction so because I know that the results we saw from chuin and Riverside Parkside were just astounding a lot of work to do yet but they were great growth great growth you know so

any more questions on read before I go to math third grade math saw uh once again um all every student group saw excellent growth except for students who aging they went down by 2.5% to 60% uh proficiency um overall math Proficiency in third grade 57.7 that's up from 38.7 2 years ago students with disabilities up to 32.8% from 233 two years ago uh our English language Learners are up to 28.6% are proficient versus 17.3 our students identify as white um 68% of students who identify as white are proficient up from 46% our students are black are up from 8.1 a year ago and our students who identify as Hispanic are 39.5% of our proficient math up from 30% a year ago and 22.72% seeing some really nice growth with that and I believe Andrea is

this year four are we entering year four of bridges do you think kind of it's kind of murky because of the pandemic yes forish maybe okay so so I think this is like we have students now for the last they're heading into year three of teaching this so that's for third grade math okay so as we just before you go on yep just a thought as we continue to see this growth going and and now we're in year four as the numbers become bigger we all know that it's hard to attain growth past that that's going to be our greatest challenge so are we continually looking at what the next thing is going to be to help us with that push okay because as much as we love the growth okay we can't remain statement

and we've all talked about that before so is there a forward plan a continual review of what's going on within those systems to be able to provide an impetus for us to continue to grow what I what what you will see is that our our schools are um using their 90-day plans okay to also look at data I think that is probably one of our spots that we need to look at the most to really get our our next our next bump is using data to inform our instruction to ensure that our students are getting what they need and I think the focus that Matt and Andre are doing at the elementary level with datadriven instruction will hopefully be the next thing that will give us the next pushup and we're seeing some early returns

are very good at Parkside and jaguan with that right nowc and when you look at the overall you know Mr shrider says the growth but there's plenty of areas within the subcategories that we could use a lot of growth on so we become more laser focused in my opinion on how do we help the the kids in these different categories because they have the upward potential of the biggest growth which will influence the overall so what I'd love to see is all of them across the boards equal you know and all at a high level I mean that that's that's what I would like to see yes so when you look at some of these you know to present black there's a lot of growth there that we can impact a lot of kids for

future you know success and disabilities and there there's a lot of areas that I still I agree the overall proficiency is is nice but there's a lot of growth that we can do within the subcategories on that the fast the fascinating thing I find is at third grade that we're that much more proficient in math than we are in reading or English I mean that's the part that kind of threw I was like wow so now that answered it with the bridges we have a program in place and the ELA we're implementing other programs so hopefully we see that catch up then too and and we oh sorry K and we see a lot of that you know but other people don't see a lot of that and that's kind of where I was going

with that question is just I mean for everybody to know that this isn't a we're going to stay the same I mean we're satisfied but not satisfied how you know how you how you put that it's great but we see where the areas are and we continue to push that so and then and we haven't gotten to the fifth grade yet because I fifth grade we're not seen that where we saw it at the earlier grades so what are we doing in the earlier grades that are making such a difference because as Dr flake moves on to the next couple slides we're not seeing as big of a growth so and and I and I think part of that and I in my opinion I've said this before is fifth grade coid was what three

years ago second grade some of those learning fundamentals of the reading and writing and and math and arithmetic you you they lost some of that opportunity to learn learn those fundamentals I remember when my kids were that age and and bringing them up fifth grade that that's one we have to watch because we got to get them prepared for high school as they enter Middle School um you know the third graders three years ago in Kinder they weren't as influenced on those skill sets yet because they were just getting introduced to those skill sets at Co and I really believe that fifth grade and eighth grade subsets are critical as they move through our system uh as far as coid effects and how do we help that and and that's going to be the same

thing that we were just talking about that constant review on how we continue to get better and I'm very confident that that review is is happening with the people in place Jan did you have something no okay I'm okay y fifth grade I forward data for English language arts um our our proficiency rate dropped in fifth grade to 37.6 from 39.6 overall proficiency did up from 276 2 years ago um our students with disability saw growth uh which is great up from 15 up to 16.7% of students at disabilities are proficient re in ela up from 15 a year ago um English language Learners we we that's uh unacceptable number there of 2.2% where we had uh so once again that that's something that we are working to address with our programming for our for

our students who are emerging bilinguals um our student students who are white in fifth grade went down from 49.6% being proficient in in ela to 45 students who are black um went down a little bit from 163 to 158 up from 2.92 years ago and students who are Hispanic went down a little bit from 22.2 to 20.3 and then students who are Asian um 42.9 to 40 so when we see this dip here this was also as you'll see in the coming slides with 8th grade here was really the the impetus for me to um put together the literacy task force to take a review of our resources in terms of how we're teaching reading um and writing in the elementary levels in in middle school so um this is why this dat is not

it's not acceptable um we do have some work to do and I'm confident with um with the work that the literacy task force is doing we will see some some uh growth in this over the next year to to two to three years so I'm excited about the literacy task force I wonder if if there are um I'm sure we have special education teachers and elll teachers probably on that task force um my also wondering is are we tapping into parents of children um that fit the categories that are significantly lower than other categories and if we had the voice of um maybe what's going on at home as far as um just other voices or other viewpoints that might help us be stronger in meeting um the group of students that we're not meeting

where we want to does that make sense so for example parents or um students with disabilities or emerging bilinguals or um uh uh families who are Black Or Hispanic do we have their voice or what about um students who are uh under those categories just wondering if they can give us some feedback as you work with that task force on what helps them be learners CU maybe that will help us as we too many times I think we TR I've tried to solve problems for kids when the kids have the answers and I just didn't listen so that's just something to consider okay yeah not being a little condescending but most of these groups I can I can honestly I can't speak for most of these groups but I I will I will say this

as far as um my experience with with most of the black families in the city and the county of hak that represent our school district most of these families don't want to talk they they just don't I mean you get a handful of them that will talk to a myself or anyone else that they're close to but most of them do not trust the people around this table they do not trust the people in in the in the district so it's all about the bridging those gaps and building those relationships but that has been harmed for so long that now some of them are coming to the table to talk but they do not excuse me they do not trust us they do not trust the district they don't they don't trust anybody so because

of past harms that have been done to them and it's hard for them to say that this is to see this is happening and anybody that cared to listen and I I commend you guys for segregating this data like about by race and subgroups because this shows us that we still have a lot of work to do there has been some growth there been a lot of growth but in a lot of areas it is stagnant and some of them have gone down but these families are not going to talk I can tell you that now and I'm just speaking from personal experiences I can't speak for them but they they're not talking I'm sorry thank you Antonio fifth GR grade math um over our proficiency went up from 471 to 51.4 students with disabilities

uh stayed the same 25% which is what it was a year ago our emerging bilinguals went up to 11.1 from 10.5% students who are white went up from 59 3% being proficient to 60.3 students who were identifies as black went up to 26.3% up from 20.9 our Hispanic students went up uh from 2 6.4 to 33.8 and our Asian students went from 455 to 53.3 so as we um start to see the the achievement consistently improving here in math we are not seeing that the same in ela so um but once again we have a we have a um all group s growth which is outstanding in their achievement any questions before I okay just waiting here okay so 8th grade all right here's where we go 8th grade ELA data P percent of students

proficient at 29% now I want to I this is not disaggregated by building this is all the buildings combined together okay uh down from 30 students with disabilities is down to uh it's down to 7.4 from being 8 88.7% 2 years ago our students are emerging bilinguals that's at 0% in 8th grade students are white 37.2 that's up uh from 293 students identify as black is up not uh very much at 5.7% or proficient students are Hispanics at 15.3 down from two years ago and students who identify as Asian is up from a year ago and from two years ago at 40% so as you can see we we continue to have challenges in ela from 5ifth and eth grade and that is something that as I said we are addressing and I think we'll

have we'll have a plan to you in the spring late spring probably um of how we are going to address that for the following school year but we are working right now using um I ready also we brought in I ready this year in grades uh 6 S8 some of our fifth grades are using it the personalized pathway in terms of math and in uh reading which will hopefully get them uh hopefully help Advance um some of the gaps that that need to be closed so we also using that too so that's e8th grade ELA data it's not it's not very favorable as I would like EXC math overall proficiency is up for eighth grade math from to 35.9 from 29 students with disabilities is going downward steadily to 4.4 down from 11.3 our students

who are emerging bilinguals while we had um zero last last year or 02 years ago and 03 years ago we're up to 3.2% and then students are white 45.8 up from 37.3 students who are black in math 2.9% down from 8.1 a year ago students who are Hispanic 12. uh 18.8 up from 12.5 and students who are Asian we're at 60 uh per. so as you can see with the eighth grade when you when we put together sixth through eth grade achievement they are collectively as a whole they are out they are they are continuing to grow not quite pre pandemic numbers yet but they're continuing to grow but when you look at it by grade level the eth grade is is is the lowest performing uh grade level from a year ago so um

as I said we brought in I ready for math to so hopefully we'll see some uh to help close some gaps and really uh help give students the um it directs student to the specific skills that they need to work on okay act at the high school from from the last three years um Ela we call it a benchmark uh these are the students that are at The Benchmark meaning that they're College they are colle ready a year ago we had 37% of the of the uh Juniors who took the exam were at at the ELA Benchmark up from 319 the previous year 366 two years ago students with disabilities were up to 2.9% rent The Benchmark up from 2.5 but down from 3.5 uh 3 years ago 0% of our emerging bilinguals were at

The Benchmark in ela students who are white are up to 47.3% from 38 uh 2% students who are black it's uh 2.5% met the Benchmark down from 3.6% and students who are Hispanic are up to 20% from 15.7 and our students who identify as Asian are at 33.3% up from 26.7 a year ago but down from 40% 2 years ago so that's the ELA data from the act and then I'll talk a little bit about what we're doing with that along with after I get through the math data here at the high school when when you see Zero across on the uh English Learners is is it possible or that when they identify they don't identify as English Learners no all right so truly these are truly English emerging yeah they I'm just kind of

curious because statistics you know you can always it's it's a numbers thing and one number one way or the other can skew it so I was wondering are they not measuring something but then I scrolled down I saw math had a line on it so then I'm like all right there is numbers here then oh yeah there's considerable numbers at the yes okay yep and they're identified through a they go through a specific testing um program called access testing okay where they have to test out so if they're identified as ell they are not tested out at the level six Andrea I think orev five now five okay okay so it's truly a pro issue right and when we look at students with disabilities keeping in mind there are all different uh disability areas so

this is including students that maybe have speech and language for a disability therefore that shouldn't affect their math or Ela it could Ela but um as well as um you know uh students with behavior disabilities where again and they're um they're able to learn to read it's the behavior that's getting in the way so just keeping in mind sometimes I think um when people hear students with disabilities they think it might be a student um are students with intellectual disabilities it is but it's also another or a variety of other areas as well included in that number act data for math um 29% are at Benchmark up from 28 to a year ago go down from 313 students of disabilities at 1.4% in math down from 3.8 down from 5.3 are emerging bilingual students 0%

down from 5.6 students identify as whites 37.5 uh up from 34.8 students who are black is zero Hispanic achievements at 14.3% are proficient up from 10% and students who identify as Asians at 25% up from 20 by down from 33 so when you look across the ACT data for the juniors um it's not what I would call acceptable um as a result there are a couple things that are the high school's been working on number one is they are um Dave is leading the staff to start working on data driven instruction in the areas of math and um and English and also we have um they have uh purchased uh ACT test prep which the students are using online test prep which will hopefully help get them ready so that's a second thing the third

thing to keep in mind here is that these students were were probably would have been in eth grade and uh then miss part of ninth grade with with Co in there don't like pretty soon that's not going to be an excuse we're going to be able to use which will which is good but I do think that is having a disperate impact here in our students also but we're we have to do better at the secondary level we have to and then science Adder above Benchmark in science and I added science because the ACT measures it and I think it's and it's uh and uh we at 23.2% up from 226 down from 255 students with disabilities that is at 1.4% down from 2.5% down from 3.5 two years ago 0% of our English language

Learners are at um our met the Benchmark in science students who are white are 30 .7% up from 276 but down from 314 and percent of students who are black is at zero down from 3.6% and then Hispanic students is uh 11.4% up from 10% then up from up from 6.9 two years ago and students are asan at 16.7% proficiency up from 6.7 but down from 26.7 so once again it follows real similar to with the math and the language arts did you said that is that Benchmark 22 or in science you know is it different for every subject it's different for every subject interesting and I do not remember right now off the top of my head I think English is a 19 they're going to look it up for a l i can't

remember because they're all all three are different I believe curious I believe they're all I believe I think there are yeah I can't remember right now it's been a couple years so why they look it up I want to go into the prea uh secure so we do not have any historical data here because the the uh state of Wisconsin moved away from the ACT Aspire to the uh preac secure this past year so this is the data from last year uh for our n9th and 10th graders all all put together here 32% of them overall are are at are proficient Advanced overall in ela and 29.9% are are proficient advanced in um math and they take this test I believe M reenberg when did they take this test spring too I believe yeah spring

so we do not have any historical data to compare this to right now because it's a different test than what the act so they have act updated it it's an interesting rate of no test that's pretty high isn't it 99.9% yes yes yeah so so the next page I just want to give you a little bit of a snapshot here on and this is on on the blow basic data and one of the things when you look at the previous slides that measures achievement so we talk forward on third fifth and then we get into the eighth grade forward that's that's measuring student achievement they have to be at the Benchmark that be proficient or Advanced one of the things that we need to do is move our students out of the below basic students

who score be uh below basic and for the I took third grade because I have it broken up by Third fth 8th and I didn't I want to go through the data with you but there are a couple of important things here to to to see that some Trends in third grade when you look at all students below basic the number is getting less when you look at all students and and then you look at students with disabilities in third grade who were below basic were down from a year ago still down from two years ago we and that's just we we have to continue to move that needle and typically these students if I were to give you a number they perform two to three grade levels below where they should be at uh

students who are from uh low-income families went down from 42.1% uh two years ago to 32.3 the blow basic number for our English Learners is at 6 was 65.5 3 years ago down to 36.7 our students who are blacks the lowest number of students in third grade who scored at at the below basic at 40% and then our students who identify as Hispanic once again has had a steady decrease over the last three years down to 33.3% so to move students to what I would call proficiency we have to move them out of the below basic and basic category so as this was just an example of how we are doing that so just use that example you just talked about black students Bel bit so what that is is 40 then basic is 46

so we moved a portion of them up one level yes and then the go at least one level yeah at least one level some of them you know they could have went up to Y but that's we're we're seeing below and then basic is we're we're moving the needle like you're were saying through the categories and and hopefully get all of them above basic then okay what about fifth and eth I know you didn't want to put them all in there but are we able to see that or do you see the same Trends uh Ela uh the the the ELA um is movement is is steady to maybe adding a little bit there was no movement in fifth grade ELA across all student groups in math there was some positive movement uh especially with

students from low-income families as well as students who are English Learners and are Hispanic students um who were um below basic so that was that was good to see but um yeah it's the the rest of it and then you get into eighth grade um there was some positive movement in eth grade with our students who are below basic went from 40% a year ago to 32.5 still lot at where it was 3 years ago um and then our economic our students from low-income families is down to 42.5 from a year ago not where it was two years ago and our students who are black is is down from to 65% from 75% two years ago but it was 61 3 years ago so the movement is is real it's tied to where you saw

the third grade achievement being very positive we also are moving students out out of that below basic category at a at a at a high rate compared to our other ones so um yeah so there's yeah so I just want to share that with you and um yes well it's nice to see the totals of the two categories basic and Below basic decreasing in almost all these categories as well if you put the two basic and Below basic together like for instance the which I looking at the black students went from 91.9% in those two categories down to like in the 80s 87.5 yeah so I mean that's great progress too um but I mean at least being basic versus below basic basic you've got you kind of can see the prize from there you

know it's just yeah and I think we these are the key performance indicators that we will revisit each year and we have to start somewhere they're posted on our website we will hopefully get a data dashboard going at some point here we we've had some internal conversations with that to have a real a real data dashboard not a PDF um to where they can see this so um but no this is It's a a it's a starting point and um yeah we got we there's there there is work to do um but I'm confident we're going to see Improvement when I when I'm here in another year reporting due next November I was just going to add um you know the old saying you know fail to plan plan to fail right the best thing

about what we're seeing here is we're actually measuring it we're exposing ourselves and opening up everything and saying all right where are we at what can we do and then we can build our plan around the necessary areas that we need and that's what we did with the new Ela program and literacy program and stuff like that so it's exciting because if anybody asked me these questions a year ago when I first came I would have had no clue where we were at and stuff like that so it's exciting that we're building a plan looking at the data reviewing it every year holding ourselves accountable holding you know uh to the students and saying how can we help them and then identifying the areas that we might have to Pivot adjust so that's exciting because

we're going to see results I think in the next year too and then just some some quick a action steps I want to highlight right now I talked about the literacy task force we have the I ready individualized instruction going on in grade 6 through eight at all three middle schools we have a few elementary schools that are piloting it um also um still working on the specially design instruction for students with disabilities and then we have Avid at the secondary level which we were able to have all all teachers at the high school go through um uh disciplinary literacy training this past summer and then we continue to really build our elll plan for students who are emerging bilinguals and we are um we have a we have a plan we're focusing on that

and um you know with that going to it's going to take some time but we're confident we're going to see an impact in a year are are we doing something different for specially designed instruction than we have been doing Mr gayan is working with his team on that okay thank you very much okay I can just go okay I just want to make a I don't know if I was if if I could just Gore I wait for you all right good American Education week November 13th through the 17th um just want to make announcement for that American Education week presents all Americans with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that that every child receives a quality education so this weeklong celebration features special

observance each day of the week so I just want to just mention that to the board of education so if you're out in your buildings in buildings that week to make sure to thank our staff for their awesome work that they do and then lastly under my uh under my report here this is an annual field trip I bring to you I have to bring it to you for for you to make you aware of it that this is the annual trip that the senior class takes to uh Great America and I can't find my executive summary so I just want to make you aware that I that they are going to be going down to Great America on May 18th 2024 they return in the early morning hours of the of May 19th and

we get notified because it's out of state yes barely about one mile out of state yeah so just following board policy all right that's what I okay so thank you all long report sorry long report tonight all right we'll move on to board members first Milwaukee January as I know we've had multiple people attend that Mark you worked that probably in your in your work life too everybody's attended that so it's a great for to First next we'll go to student staff activities Mrs Right Mr all right thank you Mr shrider um a few of us attended the region seven um WBO was it WBY WBO I always get them confused wasby wasby wasby WBO there's a whole bunch of them so uh we had a nice chance uh to interact with other districts and

talk about what they're doing with strategic planning and with uh budgeting things like that with fiscal responsibility uh had a really nice uh opportunity to sit down with Nina school district and with their board and their superintendent and so yeah it was eye opening and really you know that you learn a lot when you're talking to other districts you know a lot of them have been doing strategic planning for many many years and uh I'm glad we're on that track and you're seeing the results in some of these other schools and you know I'm looking forward to ours following went to a football game and sat in the rain um and got cold and uh but it was the team this year started out a little you know little struggling but uh finish strong um

they played a very good Marquette uh game um our team and they're going to be marquette's going to be playing Kimberly next week and um they're a good team so we'll be we'll be excited to see what they do um going forward so and I think we got a young young team so we got a lot of sophomores freshman good numbers and it'll be fun now we uh transition to other sports so I got wrestling myself I know basketball's starting next week or this week and for girls and boys and so we got a lot of a lot of uh new activities coming up here in the next couple months here oh and I saw the susal musical which was excellent by the way thank you for the Performing Arts and for our band I

love listening to the band for that yeah they did they did a nice job in singing which I can't do so it's nice to hear other people sing but they did a great job great performance my uh head's off to them lessons yeah Mrs uh yep I also did susal and the wasby meeting which um Mr henchel mentioned and just a fondy high visit after that and that was pretty much it okay Mrs ped okay M more I went to susal the musical as well it was outstanding um and yeah it's just it's amazing I also think about all the work that that happens behind the scenes too um I had some students that I had years ago that came out after and and great work all together um and then I had the opportunity

um Waters has a school counselor annual meeting with the principal and um people in the commun or it's uh teachers I think on the team parents are on the team um I was invited prior to you being a sidew Waters otherwise I believe you probably would have been um but um or I was asked to be on it prior to and um so one of the two things that we're exciting about that is one of the goals uh for the school counselor program that they're working on is targeting small groups of students um that are not meeting the growth standard and they're doing some teaching them test taking skills motivation growth mindset to help with their academic success which I thought was really um pretty awesome as well as doing some uh Behavior coaching within

the classroom um and so that was really exciting to hear awesome thank you Mr Godfrey I did not go see the susal so I I I broke the trend that goes everybody there goes the undefeated season Antonio um I also attended uh the WB conference in Nina it was really really nice networking with a lot of those people but I forgot to mention something that I participated in prior to the last school board meeting which was challenge day at the high school um challenge day was as always one of the one of the my most emotional days to see so many young kids that what they deal with on a regular basis on a emotional level and kudos to all the volunteers that made that possible but there is one person that his heart has

always been to bring this back to our fond delac school district and that is Scott Rodman um if you don't know Scott Rodman um you live in the bubble so but uh I also attended the uh the playoff game down at Marquette and I will Echo what Mark said that team is our our kids started like you said Mark started off at a rough started off a little rocky but they they came together as a team and I they had a phenomenal season they can grow up on this this season and the experience of this I also uh Riverside their costume March and all the the little cute little kids that with in their costumes that it was just amazing um just seeing those kids um I I stopped at the high school today and

and I went over to Woodworth to meet a student at the request of a parent um I won't share why I met this kid but just know this kid I will say is need all a little little need a little love um it's that's it I I won't I do want to add that Antonio and I did go out for ice cream after the football game we had to make ourselves feel Basin Robins is right around the corner I noticed a theme CU when you were down in Milwaukee you went out to eat before the game we did that again and now when you went down to Har Park you went out to eat again and ice cream afterwards and ice cream after all right all right I myself was able to get to susal

the musical as a former as a former melodramatic performer as part of the eighth grade Wilson Junior High m drama as Bartender the bartender I take a lot of pride in being able to see what these kids are able to do now it's so much more advanced than what we had back when I was in uh junior high and high school which was only a couple of years ago granted um but just to hear that all put together and to see it all and see the The Pride that they have in what they're doing is is absolutely amazing and and on that note um I just want to say congratulations to all of our fall Sports participants our our extracurricular our band members everyone that's participated in something in Fall um whether you played a

sport whether you're in those extracurriculars being involved is amazing um for all these young athletes you know and I I watch with my son now at the college level being able to do that um and just the the leadership in the camaraderie and the and the the team Mish type things that we provide here um at school all of these kids and all these coaches and parents should be very very proud of each other um and hold that very very dear because it it doesn't happen um without an army and and for um for these kids to be able to go out and do that whether you win one game or whether you win no games or you win them all um just having that experience is is going to uh greatly help them in

life moving forward I know it has for us so um that was my fav finishing note so we're going to move on to the second public comment 5 minutes per topic 10 minutes 5 minutes per person 10 minutes per topic if you'd like to approach the podium now is the time to do so sue heightman again um I still have a minute um earlier this afternoon and during the meeting I emailed a bunch of people who left under Mr flag's tenure um only seven of the 17 people email boxes sent me a bounceback message that they could not my message could not be delivered just letting you know of the um lack of ethical and competent Behavior thank you hello um Amber killoy um parent um I just wanted to uh mention in this uh

non-agenda item that um I discovered maybe a month ago uh when I was wondering uh why my son hadn't brought home a flu shot a flu vaccine uh form to fill out um that they were not offered this year um to our kiddos um I know you know in the past years you know I think last year when I checked in with school health there were about 250 kids and uh prior year there was much much many many more um I don't know what those numbers are for last year or the year before but 250 last year um so just as a as a single uh busy working mom uh having that available um at our school is is a big deal and not having to take my kiddo out of school uh that valuable

education time and also having a high schooler uh that doesn't need a physical every year that's a that's a special trip I I guess maybe it's different if you go for you know the annual wellchild checks for your Elementary age kiddos um but just having him go out trying to find the time scheduling that all in um and also just having um kids of color knowing that the disproportionate Health outcomes um around um uh flu and and other seasonal sicknesses um Can can um take more time away um and those Health outcomes can can cause other um things that are more serious like hospitalization so um I guess my ask is um is why for one I I know you all can't respond but just something to ponder and I would request that that come

back um as as Mr Godfrey mentioned wonderful things happening around um challenge day I know we do hearing and visual um exams uh blood drives and other things that are happening so just kind of wondering from um that standpoint um is that something that's still available uh to parents and kiddos who who need that um that care so thank you Amber Amber could I get your address real quick please sorry of course 230 5 East 2 street thank you thanks Charlotte Trotter 77 East 11th Street don't be nervous that I brought a sheet I'm just trying to be more organized with my life I know I only have five minutes um so I'm gonna um substitute for Antonio Godfrey about going to the musical I got your place for you so it's a it's a

team effort um I went also um most people know me as a mom with kids that are athletes but I'm also was am is were um a mom with theater theater and music also and some people just usually those things don't go along so sometimes people forget that I did both with my kids so um another thing that I want to say about that is that sometimes well almost all times in my personal experiences my own children were not singled up for some great achievements they did um is it necessary all the time absolutely not but when that's due to somebody it really should be due to somebody because there's people that get stuff due to them that you know it's questionable sometime you know what I mean I'm just being honest with you so

I'm here on the microphone to say that um gertrud mcfuzz the freshman in the musical was phenomenal phen hands down I don't don't even remember her her real name I'm going by her character name but we're talking about Gert mcfuzz she she was she blew me away so I just wanted to put that out in the public um the data I'm sure we all looked at it as Dr flag was talking about it and I've gone to many many um conferences like even National ones and things where we talk about different stuff like this you know and you're in the audience and it came across W in our own data which isn't surprising because it's usually a national thing but um um students with disabilities and English English language Learners are still in general performing

better than black students so taking different things into consideration maybe Road blocks um they're still underperforming much more than any group and then even when you compare them to those groups that have their own challenges um and then one other thing was um the social media um for the high school I noticed that there was um a nice uh thing about um meeting for a send off for the football team um and I can't help but think about all the times that like my daughters along with other track girls for years on end like went to the state track meet and there you know there wasn't a a thing about you know hey anybody after school want to you know or before school whenever the time was you know see this team off or you

know um the swim team that just every fall sport basically and other things um that aren't athletic if we can really try to focus on including luding everybody in shout outs that would be great you know I understand that whole thing about football and it's the money maker and you know it fills the stands and the track me has the biggest um attendance in the entire state of all activities anyway but i' just like to I'd just like to see that more because you know everybody's spending time doing extra stuff either stuff they love or stuff they're trying to improve on um you know they want to win and do their best and I just feel that it should all be on our uh District social media posts and good reminders for people that aren't

too familiar what you know what's going on so that's it for today thank you thank you Shar Jim H thank you Dr flag and the board for giving our students a Target you know to hit uh you can see that uh many of them are hitting that Target and you know you're going in the right direction I appreciate that Dei diversity equity and inclusion started out with the best of intentions 1964 president Johnson introduced The Great Society his plan I will cure poverty 60 years later not only are many of the same people poor but the US government is near defaulting on its debt it is sad that this important history is not taught in universities or high schools anymore why did the Great Society and why didn't the Great Society and poverty because as

Daniel moan assistant to President Johnson said government money would not help black families or any family for that matter if it required the removal of the dad from the home the Great Society made divorce more lucrative than staying married prior to 1964 25% of black families were headed by females that meant 75% of minority families were intact with a dad and doing fine for Daniel mahan's prophetic observation he became the first cancelled person in the US after being labeled a racist you see today 70% of African-American children are born out of wedlock 10 years ago Barack Obama admitted liberal policiy makers ignored evidence that behavioral patterns among the black poor contributed to intergenerational Poverty Dei puts forward the false argument that there are different races of people and some races are inferior to others but
