00130. >> All right. All right. I will call the meeting to order. Agenda date, time, and location were properly announced. Um, we do have a few board members missing. Um, some things came up at the last minute and um, so we're just going to go on with what we can. So, we may be jumping around on the agenda since we don't have a quorum yet. >> Oh, now we do. >> No, we're celebrating. >> So, we'll let Amy get herself together and then we'll get started here. Right. today. >> Yes. Yes. >> A little late. Just barely. Just barely. >> It was still It was still 6:30 when you roll in. >> But you're here. I'm here. All right. I'm ready. Okay. We will start with the approval of the minutes of the regular meeting

of January 26, 2026. Is there a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Beth, is there a second? >> Katie, any um corrections? All those in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed. Motion carries. And um payment of the bills. Is there a motion to approve uh for the month of January the amount of $965,89385? >> Katie, is there a second? I'll second. Amy, any um questions or discussion on >> No, no questions. We didn't get any questions. Patt, did you get anything? No. Okay, we're good. >> All those in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed. Motion carries. >> Uh the cash summary >> uh pretty cut and dry like other months and uh really nothing to highlight this month. So just thank you. I know Patty's fasttracking trying to get all our reimbursements

as quickly as possible, getting all our grants and all that other good stuff done. So just keep moving ahead. Any questions? Right. Donations. >> We didn't have to have any donations this month. >> But I should say that give education is coming up the first week of March and we just feel everyone's waiting for that time. >> Oh, that's exactly what it is. >> Yeah. >> Great. >> And um comments from the public. Did we have anyone sign in for that? Okay, we did not have any board committee reports this month. So that takes us to building reports. >> And as Lee's getting the microphone, uh we let uh Susan and I made the executive decision. He was not feeling. >> Yeah. >> So thank you Susan for taking both teams. >> Yep. Yep. And

we hope Becky feels better. All right. Under a strong classroom. So 4K night. Uh this will be tomorrow night, Tuesday night. Uh staff will be there uh inviting all of the future 4K families uh coming in. So they're looking uh forward to a great night of meeting families, meeting the students, and uh having families meet the staff and community is also invited to to partake. instructional rounds on interventions. So, this is the elementary staff. Some of them are visiting each other's classrooms to give each other feedback uh as well as just some uh learning from each other with potential strategies that they're using in their different classrooms. So, it's really about the staff learning from each other uh together. Uh ACT practice day, we held that last week, juniors only, and so far our data

is really looking uh very good. Uh we were looking at it this morning um as an admin team, but we're also looking at it last week as a school team. Really seen some great growth of our students. Uh we did have an incentive for, you know, one point, two or three point growth and kids really took it seriously. Um, so we're really looking forward to the ACT, preACT assessment day. Mark your calendars. March 17th. It's a way to, you know, top off the day. Um, for St. Patrick's Day, strong culture, Cupid Graham shout outs, kindness tree, estimation jar. There was a whole bunch of fun uh that was had by our elementary staff as they worked and did all these different things with the students and among each other during the week of Valentine's Day.

Structured adventure. So for the structured adventure for elementary school, they attended the middle school musical of Aladdin. So that was last week and the middle school did a phenomenal job. It was a fabulous performances. There was the sixth grade uh cast and then the seventh grade eighth grade cast. And so both did a phenomenal job. It was really well done. FBLA week, we celebrated that February 9th through the 13th. So that is national uh FBA leadership week. So we make sure to do a lot of different fun things. So they did spirit week and all sorts of things um put on by the FBLA club. National FFA week is this week as we speak, the 23rd through the 27th. Last week on Friday, we had the middle school FFA pep rally kickoff. Tomorrow we'll have

the high school uh pep rally kickoff for FFA week. And we're doing spirit uh dress up days. This week we have ice cream days. Um they have the pie in the face for the donuts for farmers. So, it's a a week of fun and again it's celebrating national FFA leadership among the students. High school singing telegrams for Valentine's Day. So, our choir, a high school choir program um did a fundraiser of singing telegrams for students or staff um who who was interested. And uh it was really some great singing as the choir uh toured around for a couple of hours in the afternoon singing uh different love songs to people who had uh paid for that. So it was neat. I think Mike, you got one, didn't you? >> The whole office. >> Yeah, the

whole office. >> Um a shout out to all three of our counselors. Uh so Bonnie, Pam, and Jacob. I have a school counselor appreciation week February 2nd through the 4th. So, um, a great time to highlight the hard work that they do. And Wisconsin school bus driver appreciation week was February 8th through the 13th. So, we wanted to make sure to do a shout out for our phenomenal um, bus driving team, uh, led by Rachel. So, we thank them all for what they do. And then it was National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, February 15th. I guess they're all finding the love in February on the um so we wanted to make sure that we recognize the hard work that Officer Meyer is doing for us as well. Strong community connections. Uh the family dance

which was is a elementary, you know, the the daddyaughter dance. So they call it now the family dance. Um that was held February 13th. 68 families attended. So, it was really a wonderful, wonderful event that night. Uh, National Honors Society held their pink heels fundraiser. So, that was uh f uh Friday and they raised $1,850 for cancer awareness. Um, and that was led by uh Nikki Donahghue along with the NHS uh students. And then we have the NHS blood drive coming up on March 9th. So, wanted to get that out there on anyone's calendar. We would love to have you come in and uh give a little bit of your blood. All right. Student acknowledgement. So, big >> Red Cross. Is it Red Cross? >> Red Cross. Yeah. Yep. And then, uh, student acknowledgement, uh,

Fredonia Lions Club, um, high school student of the year, and that was McKenzie Nedlo. So, wanted to give a big shout out to her. um welldeserving. So um thank you McKenzie for all that she does. >> As Lee's bringing the microphone over, just two shout outs on this that since Becky isn't here. First of all, um a shout out to the high school with the Princeton ACT review. Our students are doing this three times a year, right? Uh we do um the practice. So we do two pre-ACP ACT practice and then a third of ACT practice before the big game. >> So we we reviewed some of the data this morning actually with with the team and you know seeing our students grow is a piece uh the number of students right now that are

projected to get over a 30 um could be higher than we've ever seen. Like there's some really really great things that are happening. our staff are embracing that and and seeing these getting to see that assessment a few more times through the Princeton review piece. Um so that that is just um a game changer and I think it's really helping our students get prepped for that. Um, the other thing is the Aladdin Aladdin musical. You know, I don't know what else a whole school if you if you went to see the production, I'm pretty sure everyone in the middle school, it had to be less than 10% that wasn't in that production, right? >> You just see the mass of our middle school students that are doing it either on stage, behind stage, doing things

like that. To have a whole school have a common mission and be able to pull that off is really, really cool. So, um, if you missed it, uh, just know the culture that builds when you have a whole school do something, put something like that on. Um, there is talk. I don't want to put anybody out there, but there's talk of doing it more frequently, um, because it is going well. I'm not making any promises, but, uh, just a really cool thing. You could just feel it, um, with the two casts and everything else. It was just a really, really great week last week. So, >> yeah, you're you're here for the last month in Latin song. You were here. >> Yeah. >> I had I had one song in my head this weekend. My

taffy told me like, "Stop singing that song." I couldn't help it. Yes. So, it was great. >> Okay. Uh we did have a staff resignation out at the um Ramscare, the advisor business office assistant for three and a half years. She did a great job while she was here. We really thank her for that. Um then we have an overnight stay request for high school softball. Um is there a motion to approve that out to Mustin? >> So moved. >> Beth, is there a second? >> A second. >> Amy, any questions or discussion? >> Same as I've been bringing up every time, right? like either we're a rubber stamp and then we might as well stop doing these tents of support these kind of approvals or they need to start getting it in when they

agree to play in the tournaments, >> right? I mean, I don't care if we don't approve them, right? I just think that >> if we have some kind of oversight of that that we should have more notice then >> but I but I I do think these are a little bit different. Like there was a there was a definite point when there's a trip that you take a whole year to to put forward. um that's a little bit different than our sports. We're going to have one next month um to Chicago trying to go down to the shed aquarium that is just getting figured out now. So, so I think sometimes sometimes there is a little bit of that oh we probably could have got there sooner with this as we're we're not even into

those seasons yet and have that. Um I think there's a little bit of grace that you know April it's you know at least one meeting beforehand. I'd feel a little bit different if this was the end of March we were doing >> and it's not something that like last year they signed up to be in it like that they'd been planning I mean I guess when my kids were in sports right we were booking hotels five months before we were going >> and if that was going on then I think that this should >> right >> I think this one though he originally wasn't actually going to be in school because he had had a surgery >> so I think he originally wasn't >> he going to But I think it's something it's a message

that we have been trying to get out there like let's let's not push this down to a rubber stamp on. So So I I think we're getting better with this and Kim and I even talked about how this one is these two are a little bit different knowing as we're going into the spring sports. So but yeah, nope it it's noted. It's noted and it's been communicated. So >> any other questions or discussion? All those in favor, please say I. I >> opposed. Motion carries. And then we also have the um this is baseball to Jacksonville, Illinois. Is there a motion to approve that out of state travel? >> Katie, is there a second? >> A second. >> Amy, any questions or discussion? >> Don't they do this one every year? And this is over

the holiday weekend, >> correct? That's over. >> Well, Eastern. Yeah. >> And it's out of state. So, is are our buses licensed to go out of state now? >> We do have drivers that are licensed to go out of state. Um Josh I believe is our out of state bus driver. I don't know if they're taking is this using >> it. Okay. >> It said 11. >> Yeah. Request. >> No. Any other questions or discussion? >> Do we need to know that like is Joshua that like they Mike knows that they needs to get an out of state bus driver? Right. I didn't even know that was real. >> Yeah. No, that is real. And we do we do have I think I think it's Rachel and Josh both have the because you have to

have a fed med or some things you have to do medical pieces to be able to go out of state whoever is going with Rachel. So whatever. >> Yeah. I know we were just talking about the shed aquarium that we were trying to book for May and Rachel had said that Josh would be probably will need to drive for that. >> Okay. >> All those in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Um the budget update. >> Okay. Second quarter is looking like we're pretty much on track compared to last year. >> Yeah, we're hoping nothing goes out of whack while she's out. Any questions on anything? >> What did we say about the third quarter? >> That's we'll spend more there and I'll get more income. So, the numbers will start

a little bit. Right now, we're really on track. Hopefully, we stay that way. Any questions? >> And just as a reminder, Patty will be out starting Mar what's the the >> starting next week. And um so good luck with medical stuff and uh we'll hopefully be back by April. Right. What's the Okay, >> we'll be watching. >> So, if you have questions, send them to us and then we'll check on where her medication is. When we ask her questions, it's a good time to ask her. Not. >> Yeah. Hold off to the pain medication. I got a question for you, then you can pop back up. Then we have some uh paid co-curricular coaches and advisors. Um anything new on there? Looks pretty. >> I cannot even begin to >> huh >> someone with that

last name. >> All right. Um that's justformational. We don't have to vote on those. And then we have um we're down toformational items. Mike, >> perfect. Well, a couple things. First of all, I just wanted to We had our legislative breakfast last week, Monday. Um and if you know anybody in any kind of state politics, um there's very serious discussion around this $2.5 billion dollar surplus that the uh state has. Um, and I think there's some good conversations about helping reduce property tax. We've heard enough about the property tax and things happening here. Um, part of the reason that $2.5 billion surplus is there is because usually that money would have gone in to offset the amount that schools raise. So there should have been zero impact, but since they held it back, now they're

trying to get it back to people in a different way because it got to Madison, that's hey, in a time where everything's getting more expensive, why are we putting more and more money in the coffers? So um there's an arm wrestling because neither side wants to show the other side is going to win and one side thinks that they're going to pay for votes and the other side wants to um uh see what happens. I in the end um when we went into this budget, we were told that our special ed reimbursement would be at 42%. So if we have a student that has an IEP, um if a 100% of their cost um is what we take, usually it's more than the $11,225 we get, we pay for the 50. We would pay for

the 58% and the state would pay for the 42. Well, they came out and told us about a month and a half ago or two months that Oh, sorry. We said 42%. It's really like 35%. Which would that equate to about 70 to $100,000 less in our budget than we were thinking. So, um there seems to be good faith effort on both sides on trying to get up to what they say. And honestly, right now it's um if they're going to actually compromise or if something's going to happen. So, um as you're having these conversations, um I think we should find ways to the state doesn't need that money, so get it back to the people, help with property taxes and just hold up your end of what we said in this budget that every

school said and set their budgets on. So, um that kind of goes with the property tax relief, too. Um, we've seen a lot of our families across the state um, see an increase in property relief because in the past that 325 that we get per kid was usually offset by the state. They didn't put that money there. So now they have a surplus. So, um, just want to make sure you guys are aware of those things. So when you're having conversations and people say, "Hey, why'd my taxes go up?" Well, it's because the state wanted to keep 2.5 billion in the coffers and now they're trying to figure out how to get it back out to people in a common sense way. So, um, just part of the politics in public education and anytime I

get a chance to try to make sure that you guys understand all the rhetoric that goes on on both sides, um, just trying to be common sense. It doesn't have to be political one way or the other. Um, these are just what we're trying to do. So, um, I'm the rainbows and unicorn, right? Person, always dealing in hope, right? And Patty gets to sit there and tell me, but I I I think they're going to come up with a deal. I I really think there's enough there that they can come up with something. So, we'll see how that goes. And then the last piece is we have been working on some uh marketing material and uh Lacy Dippish has been fantastic. Um we have a uh a local video producer. Um kind of a documentary

type person. Daryl. Does anybody know Daryl's last name? >> Beck. >> Uh it might be. >> He does that from stuff at our church. I don't know. >> It could be. So Daryl comes in, works with our video production class, um, does some great things, and he created this wonderful, um, 4K video. So, we're going to watch this video, and then we'll watch another one after this. Learning feels natural. Students count, match numbers and explore simple games and guided activities by learning in an engaging children. This individual attention and support meeting each child where they are literacy school excited about And as we're getting the other video up, Just a shout out to Christine and the entire 4K team. Um we have gone through some really um I would say some big shifts in that

area and went from being a more of a daycare model to really an educational model and the what our students are leaving 4K with in a fun way. um the letters and the numbers um what they're doing. It has just been a total shift and the way the students are structuring into school. Um we should have did this a long time ago. It really has been fantastic. So um it just how they've gone out to other schools. We've gotten other models now. We have other schools coming and checking out our 4K with the things that are happening. So shout out to Christine and everyone else. And the next video um is a fun video. So, if you come to any of our games in the gym, you notice the jumbotron Rambo has been doing all

kinds of fun things, flying jets, um, when we're playing the rockets and, you know, doing this. So, Chris Adex, uh, has come up and and I asked him like, we're going to have a really niceformational video. Can you create something that's a little bit more about the feel of Random Lake and what it looks like? So, um, this is the video that he and I, um, I gave him the idea and then he just took it and went from here. So, here's another fun video that you may be seeing on your Facebook and other places coming up here in the future. tell So, just a couple things that we've been doing to to get the word out, share that feeling, and uh um wanted to show you guys first here as it's actually started going

out live this last week. >> So, >> yeah, thank you to Daryl and it's Daryl Beck um and to Chris Adex uh for for those. >> Cool. >> Anybody have any questions? It's amazing how they can make the school and the background of the school and the background background of that. I mean, it's just really cool. >> Chris has become, you know, like he'll take a picture of something that he wants as the background and then he'll do that and then use AI that song because you can't use a a song that's recorded. So, he that is an original song for this video, all the other pieces. So, so yeah. um just trying to use what we have out there and uh with the budgets we have. So both of these gentlemen um are helping

us work within our budgets uh to do these things. So we're very very appreciative. >> Oh yeah, that goes under donation. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yes, definitely. >> Okay. Well, uh we do have a close session on the agenda tonight. Um, is there a motion to go into close session under Wisconsin State Statutes Chapter 19, section 1985C to discuss administrative performance reviews as it pertains to the 360 degree survey? >> So move. >> Katie, is there a second? >> I'll second. >> Beth, this requires a roll call vote. Katie, I >> vote yes. Amy, >> yes. >> Beth, >> yes. >> All right, we are in close session. Thank you very much for coming. Uh we will not be taking any action after close session.
