001Are we recording? >> Now we are. >> How we going? All right. We'll call the St. Croy Central School Board meeting to order. This is the home of the best schools in America. And we'll uh start with Pledge of Allegiance. I alian to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Uh, let the record show that all members are present. Was the meeting properly notified? >> Yes, it was. It's also being live streamed and recorded. >> All right, let's get right to it. Let's hear about girls wrestling. >> Time's up. Come on. >> Uh, first I'd like to thank the school board school for sort of giving us some leeway this year and starting this

002program. It was sort of a leap of faith. We jumped into it with our uh middle school with the help of uh Jean Johnson and Chance Lagnes and uh obviously the school board itself high school level. We did some restructuring with some contracts to uh make Mikey the Mike Nielson the head coach, stuff like that. So that couldn't have been done with obviously a year at all things like that. So much appreciated. Um there's a couple highlights that we had this year. So middle school season, which most schools do not do. Uh we started our middle school season before Christmas to sort of follow the guys and do so they could do split seasons. They could wrestle and play basketball. figure out what you want to do. So, it's just the opposite of what the

003guys are doing right now. And uh we had 17 girls come out. I think we started with 18 or 19. Two sort of fell by side. Didn't quite like it. But to have 17 middle school girls, most of them never haven't tried this before, ever. Um ended up having a great season. We have four events. Stray Falls. We held an event which was awesome. Uh we went to Siren and then River Falls and just had a great season. The interest level was really high. Um, and I I can't, you know, thank the coaches enough and all that kind of stuff. It was just great to see. High school-wise, um, we ended up having nine athletes this year. Um, we put a little video together just to highlight some, uh, stuff if you take a look

004at that. Um, so of the nine, we ended up going 177 and 115 this year, which is excellent considering we didn't have a lot of experience. Uh with that, uh a couple highlights tournament wise. Uh Somerset, we took fourth out of 20 teams. Our Oaklair Reges, we took first out of 21 teams. Our own home tournament, which was an awesome event. We had 25 teams show up to it uh Friday night in February, and we ended up taking fifth out of 25 there. And then at regionals going to the WIA tournament series, we took seconds out of 10 teams. Uh so the work that they put in was just plain awesome to see them grow throughout the year. Uh we ended up sending four athletes to sectionals. Uh Bella Waters, Aydah Miller, Emma Lamers, and

005Piper Larson. And then Ada ends up going on to state and take second in state. So got on the podium, got to wrestle in the finals. Um just an absolute excellent season all the way around. So, we look at the program only growing. Um, which is an awesome thing. I know when budgets are tight here, it might not be the best thing, but we're going to be growing. So, it's an awesome thing to have. So, we'll be dealing with that as we go through the go through the uh time here or the months here. Um, thank the wrestling club, too. They did a lot uh buying singlets, headgearss. Uh, we totally outfitted the middle school with singlets. Uh, high school wise, uh, we work with a company called My House, which is sort of nice.

006When, uh, our families and athletes purchase singlets, gear, stuff like that, 13% gets kicked back into a fund. So, I was able to get high school girls singlets out of that fund that didn't really cost us anything. And, you know, working with R.J. as our ad, R.J. Dolure, uh, coming up with some funds to do the things that we needed to do this year was just excellent. So, that's all I really got. A couple of guys will have to talk and a couple of the ladies. >> Yeah. First, let's talk hear from some of the girls. Nola, why don't you start because you're never shy. Go ahead. >> Hurry up. Go. Hold down. >> We reverse this. Go. >> My dad is really crappy. So I think between October and April everything he just gets

007really crappy and >> this is not what we rehearsed. >> Um my name is Kayen Trudeell. I joined wrestling my sophomore year after managing for a year and a half. Um, I always thought girl wrestlers were cool but not something I would do. And my coaches kind of like joked about it or I thought it was a joke, but then I tried it out and it was honestly one of the scariest things I've done. Walking into a room full of guys and well there's eight Miller but she's just like above the guys so it doesn't even count. And it just like this year when we had nine girls it was a lot more fun because it feels like you're more a part of something. Um, and yes, I'd like to keep growing it. I'm Jillian

008Trudeau and I joined when I was in eighth grade with only one other girl on the middle school team and then going into high school there were so many more girls. It was so much more fun. Um and the coaches really helped out a lot. I'm Amelia Miller and um I joined wrestling like last year, maybe mid June, I don't know. But um it was a really fun experience and I'm really glad that I got to do middle school season this year. Um, I'm Maddie Pickeran and I joined this year. I never thought I would like be able to join wrestling. I always wanted to, but with making like the girls season happen. It was a lot better of an experience to join instead of going into a room with a ton of guys. Um,

009it was a really good experience. The coaches are nice. sometimes when I want to be. But >> yeah, it was a fun season I look forward to doing in high school. >> Tell them about your middle school state title. >> Um, for my first year, I got third at state >> and you were part of the middle school boys team that won >> and I was part of the school boys won state >> and you wrestled concussed. Um, I'm Dela Miller and I just joined this year. Partially because my dad made me and partially just because I kind of wanted to. And um, I didn't really figure out figure it out until like the last meet because I just don't understand it at all. But it was really fun and I would recommend it to

010other people. >> Um, I'm Josie. Um, I started wrestling think third grade. When I came to middle school, I didn't really know who I was going to be with, but I had a also by my side. Big eighth grader. Scary, too. And just being in there with all the guys, I had to guess be strong till now. GR I placed at state fourth, fifth grade, third last year and this year. Guess yeah state too. >> Awesome. Twice. >> Twice. >> I'm sitting state. My name is >> N. >> Okay. >> All right. So, you guys can see we've got a pile of girls and this isn't all of them. Um, one thing that we have coming next year that you may or may not be aware is that we've had, and this isn't just for

011the sport of wrestling, but well, basically it is to be real honest with you, eight eight people open enrolled to St. Croy Central Schools, and seven of those are females. Two that have decided to well, three that have decided to completely move out of their district and move here because we're offering opportunities that their districts are not. Um, we're front trying to fund a full girls team with a full girls schedule. Um, so that's something that we're doing that's kind of trailblazing and and really setting a path. Uh, and it doesn't hurt my feelings at all that over half of these girls that are coming, one of them has won six state titles, middle school and younger, uh, one of them was fourth at state, two of them were fourth at state this year. Um,

012these girl the girls that we're we're drawing here are not just mid-level wrestlers. They're excited for the wrestling. Uh, they're super excited for the school and the district. They've came, they've taken tours, they've met with our admin staff, they've met with our teachers, they've seen what we're doing as a school. Uh, and they're really excited about it. So, with what we're looking to do, we we need a little bit of additional help. Um, I Nola was supposed to be better rehearsed and say my dad can't do everything from fifth through high school and uh I'd I'd love to I'd love to be able to, but that's not realistic. Like, we've got to work. Ron's got a job. I got a job. And we can't I can't be there every single day. Um, Mr. Nielsson's up

013at the high school. Brad's got to focus in on the high school boys team. Like, we have a big Mr. Beasy helped out when we needed. I mean, we had so much help for these girls that was kind of piece together from all of I mean, we've got a large coaching staff that volunteers. Um, but if we could have a dedicated position or a dedicated individual at the middle school and at the high school, um, I think that would really only enhance what we're doing and help things out. >> Thanks. >> So, couple of uh, St. Cro Central experiences girls wrestling come a long ways. When my youngest daughter was in kindergarten, she came home and says, "Dad, I want to do wrestling." And we just sort of like laughed at her. Hey, we're a

014basketball family. Even though some of our best friends are wrestling fans, but and now to see what you guys are doing is simply amazing. The other thing I understand there's a birthday today that you guys have to get to, but I coached Megan seventh grade basketball and she about the same age you guys are. She gets an elbow to her nose during one of the games. We were up at St. Croy Falls. Her mom and dad were not there. So, coach, I am. I say, "Megan, your parents aren't here. I don't think you should be playing anymore." I mean, she had bloody nose, all that stuff. and she says, "Jeff, I think I'm old enough to make this decision for myself." >> And she did. >> It's not just your dad to get it. >>

015I also was there when she won the state 400 meter in the It was amazing. It was really amazing. So, >> yeah. Thanks for coming, guys. >> I just got one more thing to add. It was the last picture that was on that slide. you don't have to replay, but it was our guys and girls together the night we won our conference championship right there. That is very it's not common for a lot of the schools that we see with their guys and girls teams. A lot of schools keep them totally separate. We made the decision we're going to be part of something better and we're going to bring them together and they really thrive for each other. We had high school boys that drove down to Mondovi on a Friday night. I didn't know

016they were coming to come watch the girls wrestle. girls coming to regional tournaments and stuff and that that was something that was very special with our team. I think that is just great to see that they supported each other no matter guys tournament, girls tournament, whatever. It was just central wrestling. So, thank you for all you do. >> Thank you. >> Thanks. Keep it up. >> Okay. Answer construction. Oh, I got a a link to kind of go through the website. >> I can I can go through the website if you want. >> That'd be awesome. >> Yeah. So, we're uh just want to direct me to it. Um, I think the district page should be Yeah, if you scroll down, you should see should be here CT student run businesses and construction. Cool. All

017right. Well, I'm Ty Todd. I think the best way to go about this, this is my first time being here, too. So, um, I have a website up here. If you see anything, please ask, I guess. Um, the one thing we really went into this year is we're trying to focus on our Panther Construction program. So, um, construction one, we have everybody and I'm super nervous, of course, but but we have been really busy with stuff. I think um raised garden beds if you scroll up and take a look at those. Um we took kind of a a hail mary with this and just kind of threw the idea out there with staff and everybody at our high school and we ended up selling 34 or 38 of these through our construction one program. Um

018the kids did awesome with it. I mean, I had sheets where they had to go through and check off just every sort of measurement you could just to make sure that they were perfect. And uh it was just really fun for the guys. So, we ended up selling 34 of these just word of mouth. We didn't put anything on for like a community post or anything like that, but um a lot of the guys in the groups had parents that wanted to to buy them, so it helped out with me for for selling. Um the next one that we have is benches. If you look on the right, we have um two benches we made for Baldwin Woodville. Um that's the hockey rink that's in Baldwin. Um I can't remember his name, but he reached

019out to me and got a hold of us and we were able to make these benches for him. Um we have two more on the left, which are green treed um for more outdoorsy. The ones on the right are just painted. But um that's in my mind I guess trying to be more geared towards our construction one program as I have guys in construction too. Um so we had raised garden beds, the benches and then bean bay boards if you can sell at the school. So we've been super busy. You can see like the toughest photo that's on the internet if you look here. um these group of guys, they were like my first um this is trimester 2. It's the first time that we're trying this and I want student buy in so that

020we can have good projects and sell them to the community so we're not selling bad stuff and these guys were awesome. Um we had a couple that were going to come tonight but they're all busy kids so I'm here. But um if we scroll down just a little bit more, we we've played around with ideas. We've given out quotes for deer blinds, chicken coops, whatsoever. We haven't had many that have worked out, but we've we definitely have the word out there and we are in contact with a lot of people on making these build or bigger um builds. Um shout out to Laura and Kevin Conard. They're in New Richmond. We've been making animal shelters for them. Um they're like 8 by six clean twos. So we've had two of those go out and last

021trimester and this trimester. Um it's been awesome with our big space is we can wheel a a pallet jack and move our sheds outside, inside, load them onto trailers. Um they're not taking up space in the shop. So the guys can work on it, pack up everything, and we're never never outside. So like in the winter, it's it's very nice. Um I guess if you scroll down a little bit further, here's one of the two of the guys that I asked to come tonight. So um this is Leo and Everett. Um, these guys are, if I had to look back at my high school career, like two people to be very jealous of for woodworking aspects go. Um, I see this um, photo being on like a front page of a woodworking magazine. And, um,

022these are just like a snapshot of some of the projects that we're going through. But I think you can click through and see some of the Yeah, there's some photos up there, too. Um, here's another group of guys, some seniors in a woods three department, woods three class. You can see this um the guy in the center of that last one. He actually made a vanity for his girlfriend. He's the nicest kid I know. Um, but yeah, that's a Woods One um Caden. They make cutting boards, sliding top boxes, and they make a personal project at the end. And of course, Kaden saw that Woods 2 guys were making these nice um bedside tables, and he had to compete with them. So, he's competing with seniors and juniors, and he had an awesome table. This

023is another one of Leo's, too. He found it right out of a magazine and uh it had like a two page directions with all the parts and we just kind of let him go. So yeah, we do have some awesome stuff. That's an awesome early morning um picture. You can see the sun's coming up coming through the light and or coming through the windows in the back of the shop. And we got woods too making their nightstands. another table that's come through just custom stuff for Woods 3. Um Woods one's very much safety. Um a lot of the kids that come in and we have oh a decent amount they're the classes are packed so but everybody is very nervous when they start in Woods one and it's just really cool to see that once

024they get past their second project they just fly. when they come to Woods 2, it's um second nature to them. So when they go with these projects, they're they're cruising. Woods three, they make whatever whatever they want with that certain aspect there. Um >> how many kids stay all the way through woods one, two, and three? >> Oh, quite a few. Quite a few. >> Good. So, >> no. Yeah. Thank you. >> So when we're doing these other the first projects, are the kids designing them or are they coming with someone's you've provided them with plans and they have to build to the plans? >> Yeah. Like um for Woods one it's very much like I have a hand in that like they have to build to those plans and um two measurements and I

025grade a lot with those. Um, so like say their cutting board projects, the first ones they do very constrained, has to be at least like a 12 by 12 or 14 by 16 within that and then they have to draw out what their project's going to be and then cut and it has to match their plans at the end of it. on the sliding top box. There's some a little more complicated, but they have to have perfect nails in the top and bottom of their boxes. But other than that, as long as they're within certain constraints, they're they can kind of go wherever they want with it. And then they have their own personal project and then it's just kind of the um training wheels are off at that point. didn't mean >> I have

026a couple cutting boards and tables in my house. >> We're hoping to have a lot more of them. >> Awesome. Any >> any big like lessons learned now that kind of been in the space for a little bit and getting the opportunity to run some of these classes through like what kind of pops of like you know now that you've gone through it for a cycle that >> Oh yeah. is what >> storage storage uh storage we have so many students cutting at any given time um like I have two woods two courses a woods three and then a construction two course going right now so managing all that material and then having um yeah storage and then with customers coming in so now we have our material and the customer's material and separating that

027and making sure that we're never crossing that um line. Yeah, we had to make a lot of new storage in the shop for sure. That's a big one. Another one is uh like dust collection is another big one on my radar. Like u you have pen kids using hand sanders in the shop and it just looks like a cloud going in the shop. So just managing a lot more more of that stuff. Other than that, we're two years now with that shop. And now I think we're settling into the point where everything's about where it should be and organized kind of where I think it will stay for years until we till we upgrade stuff. But >> any other questions, comments? >> Awesome. Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Anybody for public comment? >>

028Perfect. Uh comments from board members. Congratulations for a couple people that after a tough election, got reelected. Um we have to do your oath of office. Callie will let you administer the oath. >> We have to go to the podium to do that. >> You can just stand right there if you want. Do it at the same time again. >> I mean, you can do it separately if you want. >> We did it at the same time last time and it was really jumbled. Let's get through it. Okay. >> All right. Ready? >> Any words you need help with? >> Eric Miller >> have been elected to or appointed to the office of St. Corey Central of the state of Wisconsin. swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution

029of the State of Wisconsin and will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. So help me God. >> Congratulations. Thanks for stepping up, guys. It's really important to our kids. All right. Next meeting. >> All right. Next meeting we will do the reorg officer reorg stuff. Um numbers went to the joint pack board meeting in Turtle Lake. Comments on that. >> It was good. It was >> even remember what the guy >> AI information. >> Oh yeah. >> I I think following him a bit to have more of the detail be beneficial. I guess just to know who he is. I think he was introducing the concept probably at an appropriate level for people unfamiliar with it or just getting into it. >> So I don't know.

030curiously watch him as he kind of puts more information out was my only thing. >> Yeah, I would say too is just, you know, they mentioned the good and the bad of AI and how it affects schools and and couple of the questions that came up is like how administrators, principles and stuff see AI today, you know, and then how you guys will see it in a few years. But, you know, I think I anything under control can be helpful and just curious to see how that impacts you guys and teachers and such down the roads. Learn more. I thought he had some good examples of how teachers might use it in the classroom in a like they had a mock interview where kids were learning how to interview for jobs and they had the

031chat GBT actually asking the questions and creating a dialogue and I thought that was way to use it. >> Yeah. Making the questions harder based on what kind of experience you wanted to have was a neat to see. Well, and I've done tons of AI trainings that most of them weren't worth much, but kind of three levels where you have AI get something for you. Um, it writes something for you and then the third level is helping you think together. And that's where I think he was going towards sort of how you'd use AI to enhance the outcome rather than just answering the question or writing something for you. And I don't know how in the world teachers are able to make sure somebody doesn't just write have chat write their stuff. Mhm. >> One

032thing I my son that's in college shared is they dropped uh in Oaklair Wclair they dropped like a communications class and now it's an AI class. So it's definitely impacting colleges and such and what courses they're they're giving. So >> we don't have keyboarding anymore, do we? >> As a class. Not in high school. Oh >> yeah. That was a >> typing was a class that high school people took when I was in high school. >> All right. Anything else? I think CISA tries to put on pretty good topics. This one was very good one. >> Um staff appreciation breakfast May 6th. What's the plan there? Do we try to get people at each school? >> Yep. >> I actually have a conflict so I won't be able to be there. kind of need people

033to try to cover each of the three schools >> for the high school. >> Okay. the elementary again. Does >> that conflict with their late start and their >> when the teachers get together? Like at the high school last year, >> they all had to go like none of the teachers could really come in because they had their >> 7:30 meetings, the kiddos late. >> Yeah. >> So, I don't know if >> still it'll be the same schedule on that one day for high school. Yeah. shifted to a Tuesday or a Thursday. >> I'm just saying we saw like 10 minutes of people come through. >> Yeah, >> because they had to go. >> And I went to the middle school and there was pretty good people came through. They had time to chat. >>

034That's all. Make two sense. >> That's a good point. When I was at the high school, I don't know if it was last year, the year before, we ended up going to and kind of interrupting the little sessions to drop them off. But >> I'll think about it. Any thoughts on moving to Thursday? We still should be able to do that, right? >> That work for you guys. >> Okay. >> All three buildings or just the one? >> Probably easy to do it all the same day. >> No. >> Do you want to move to Thursday? >> Good. Sure. That's just brought it up. There you go. That's a good >> actually a better day for me so I could do it. So I took the middle school last time. I'll do the middle school.

035So we're changed at Thursday, May 7th. >> Yep. And it'll start at 7:15 and then if anybody is able to stop by the bus garage, I think they usually usually get back about 8. So just a thought. >> Yeah. If you give us a reminder at the time, I can >> sure. >> I'll go to middle school too across the street so I could run over and thank them. Good. Um, this is completely on me. I, um, you know, I'm going through my crap and I needed to have a scuba trip to look forward to. So, I scheduled a scuba trip for April 25th through May 2nd. So, I leave on Saturday and I didn't bother to look at the calendar that we had board appreciation. I already put my money down. So, non-refundable. So,

036we have to reschedule April 26th. Does Lee give us some dates that work for him? >> He didn't. No. But he said that, you know, maybe it' be a good idea to try to get admin board the next one. >> Yeah. >> To do a joint. We wanted to do two per year. Haven't done one since August. >> Um, so it's probably going to have to be something in a email. >> Yeah. Just Okay. Easier than ever now. So challenging. >> All right. I apologize. All right, Sandy. >> Yeah. >> Hi, everybody. >> Hi. >> So, I want to introduce you to your new food service director, Cassie. Cassie comes from us. Um, why don't you talk? >> Um, so I'm Cassie. I'm coming from North Memorial Health Hospital in North Minneapolis. I was the

037food service director there for four years. I worked in food service, specifically healthcare, my whole life. I had my son last year and upon returning to work, I realized I need a lifestyle change, which brings me here. It's closer to home. The hours are better and I still get to deliver good food to a lot of people and children. So, that's nice. >> We It's been going wonderfully. She's picking up a lot of things. still a little afraid, you know, for uh year end and and month end, but um you'll be fine. >> Um questions. >> Any suggestions for the menu for those who eat at the schools? >> I wouldn't ask the kids. They'll probably have a whole >> student choice um tastings here in the next couple weeks before trying to get a

038mood boost in at the elementary school. Um we want to try I I want to we have flatbread that you can make individual little pizzas and I want to introduce them to like margarita pizza. So a little more vegetable not such sausage pepperoni kind of things. Um, at the mood boost, we're gonna do some apple cucumber salads. We got like little calling cards. Like the kids love collecting little cards and they have a recipe on the back so they can take it home so that their parents can make whatever it is. But yes, and I wanted to say it's been a pleasure. This is my fourth year here. Um, stepping down has been a big decision, but um, my husband's been retired for quite a while and I'm not going far. I'm just going down

039the street to Hudson school for a couple years. Um, so I'm available. >> All right. >> One thing I would suggest is if it's feasible is always it's fun to introduce uh different cultural foods to kids. >> Yes. >> Get them experienced and and different tastes and different food through the years. And I see a lot of kids, >> they're like, I don't know what that is, you know, and it's like, >> well, yeah. And we have Charles does have global eats. >> I had a Korean day one day and um the kids really got excited because we have some um you kind of decorate for it. >> So um and also we have some um schools that can share some of the things. So Riverfalls and stuff. >> All right. Welcome. >> Your food

040was excellent at North Memorial for a week. You were there for a week. >> Wasn't got a new neck out of it. >> All right. Financial report. Thank you. >> Balances as of March 31st 26. Um, citizens bank checking is 5,116,141.15. 6 state bank money market account $12,2978746 is at $6251 suicide prevention $5,534.91 uh debt service account $935.34 referendum balance is at $62,261.19 for total account balances of 5,19 97,2323.97 motion to approved. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> Motion carried. When's the suicide prevention? Wednesday. >> Wednesday. So, we're not going to the new member thing. So, I'll be >> just a reminder, Trinity sponsors a fundraiser for that mental health fund >> board, right? >> Yes. At the barn board and it's the 22nd. >> Eat in order out Wednesday like it's like

0414 till you can't go because you're on call. >> Oh, there you go. >> Take it out. You have food. >> Yeah. So, perfect. tomorrow. >> Uh consent agenda, minutes, bills, curricular. We have no full-time modifications in 54 part-time. We have a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> So second motion second. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carried. Student enrollment still have students. We have 1,555 students in seats uh showing up in the brick and mortar building. That's um one more than we started out back in September. Uh and at middle uh matrix you could see the size of our school. Uh we have uh 630 kids in our elementary school building every day. 476, middle school 486. High school free introduced lunch rates uh stay pretty steady, dropped

042a little bit uh um since um uh the start of the year. 22.41 and you can see the red box that's uh compared to the state average of 40%. And then I like to highlight uh the the matri matrices with uh the tan summary or totals at the bottom. So, the first little small box you can see we have 36 of our resident students attending our virtual uh school uh full-time uh 105 um uh part-time and then I don't know if that number included that or not. I'm not sure. 54 maybe more. And then uh the bottom right is our virtual charter school. So to make be charter they have to be open and rolled in from outside of our district boundaries. Uh we're exactly where we were a year ago. has some fluctuation. We

043were above but now we had a big surge last year in April and again this April. So 325 are attending uh virtual charter school from outside our district boundaries and you'll notice that uh 324 is our difference uh between all we have 152 I forgot to say uh and open enrolled in attending in person. So uh 324 is our net with 477 in uh as opposed to 153 out. We uh showed a little a little stat graphic uh Friday uh as part of the slideshow in budget etc. And um we are way way way by far uh uh there's only one other school Altuna that's to the positive open enroll versus out in the middle border conference. Barrett always puts together a nice little sheet, but uh they were I think 20 or 30 40

044maybe and we were >> 20 or 30 positive >> the positive and we're >> Did you attend the CISA statewide enrollment >> declining enrollment at CISA 10? We did. I mean, Brian Shel did last month. Yeah. And I talked to Brandon who's director of the CIS 11 and he said the one takeaway was and I like I just kept my mouth shut. But one takeaway was that school districts are thinking open enrollment is going to solve their declining enrollment situation. He says that's just not the case. But I I'm here to tell you when you have good schools like we do and I mean we look at the open enrollment. There's a reason why kids are families are choosing to come here. Yeah. >> Over other places. And of course a virtual school helps a

045lot but >> definitely >> but the basic statewide is open enrollment is not going to solve your declining enrollment problem and that's you say there are only a couple districts that are on the >> that's the middle border. >> Yep. >> Do we have any do we have any update on enrollment or anything? >> We do. We're at 84 um >> uh signed up sign signed on the dotted line um as opposed to 73 >> currently um pending this year. So, >> and we might get more as >> we uh closer >> we we're looking at capping it at 90 for class, you know, so the class sizes aren't too uh large. And that's six sections, correct, >> Kelly? That would be six sections. >> Currently looking at five sections. >> I'm sorry, five sections.

046>> And then um but we are uh making you know plans if we have to add another section. So we do >> play teacher. We do uh have a classroom options >> a classroom space available with um our our shrinking uh elementary sections. You know, through attrition if folks leave, we're taking a good look to see if we can go out to five sections and we do have a couple examples, a couple folks that have resigned. So, we have a we'll have a couple classrooms available for that if needed. So, we're we're looking at and starting initial discussions on what that would look like because we'd rather not close it or or turn people away. >> Is is there follow any indication that the change from half day to full day is what's helped that

047enrollment? >> Um, yeah, anecdotally for sure, you know. Um, and I mean I guess the numbers speak for themselves. We have 14 I believe. Lindsay is the 4K >> director, but 14 open enrolled >> tw. Yes, currently. So, we're at 88 actually burn so far. >> Um, 12 of those are open enrolled in. >> So, >> and do we have any indication of how many are open and rolled out? >> Not at this time. We don't because it hasn't closed, >> but >> I think that was where I was 14, I think, that had open and rolled out. Oh, okay. I didn't hear that. >> And there's always going to be somebody already goes to another school for wordation. >> All right. Yeah, good report. >> But, uh, you know, again, about about 10 uh

04810 to 12 open enrolled or students will pay for the teacher and benefits, you know, and stuff. So, that's kind of your 10 or 12. >> It's a it's a budget neutral decision. >> Yeah. for the year and then you think about we get hopefully keep those students. Uh be a good thing. >> Okay. >> Uh next is a legal fees update. >> Yeah. So uh we're at about a year now since started tracking uh the surge in legal fees. Um uh the spreadsheet that Sarah uh puts together uh started uh February 28th of last year was the first uh typical WASB bill. um you know and that that was already surging at $4,000 some dollars. Just uh received the most uh recent one today from Boardman Clark for $9,576. So uh when I reported

049back in November, you remember we're at $185,626 and uh since then another 75,943 for a total of $261,000 five $261,569. uh just over a year now. >> And that's all legal fees that that doesn't include ones that are covered by insurance. >> Yeah. Then 38,591 are covered by EMC. >> Any other questions on that money? >> Um work. I I won't work. >> Oh, yeah. Please. And then that's still there's some running there for the ongoing requests. >> What do you mean? >> Public public information request. >> That's the majority of those fees. >> Thanks. >> All right. Student staff community recognition. >> A big one today. >> Yeah. a big stack. >> Everybody all signed. You've been signed. >> Just check. >> All right. So, Cara Styler, Emily, uh, Dowski, Troy Tosski, Erica Kosina,

Uh we appreciate all your hard work that goes into your sport and are so proud that you represent St. Croy Central. >> Yeah, thanks Lance. I know there's a lot, but we have good kids doing good things and having gone to lots of graduation parties, these notes show up on their table of things that so these are meaningful to come from the board. So thanks for doing that. >> All right. >> Core agenda. We have consideration of our fund 46 capital

056improvement plan. >> This is our $56 fund that we're >> we're up to. >> We're heading the right direction. >> All right. We've almost doubled it since it started. >> Yeah. Um, I didn't make any modifications this year. Last year's modifications were I made basically because I was having to have money. I needed a place to put it. Um, but coming up on year three and you know, I've coded all of my invoices. So, I'll be able to pull all that information of like my fixed cost, which is annual inspections. And the big question mark always for me is with the amount of equipment that I have is the unknown failures, right? That's really hard to account for. And I think that's what you couple that with your known annual fixed cost um which I

057promised you Sarah by the end of this year. um fund 46 is is huge for that and I understand where we're at fiscally is is tough, but this year I don't think I'll be lucky to get what I want as far as extra upgrades with what I have budgeted um done. So, I haven't modified it at all. But any consideration to funding it would be huge. But again, I know the boat that we're all in. Um Tim and Sarah and I have talked about different ways to kind of get that going again. Um but all I can do is try to keep my cost down and provide good customer service and hopefully at the end of that fiscal year there's something left for me to put into that fund to start basically having some backup

058plan when we major mechanical failures. >> What does your signature line and your email say? Caution. If you do not plan your preventive maintenance, your equipment will plan it for you. It'll fail no matter what. So, community will be ahead of it. And I feel like that a is just a hair out in front of us. But in maintenance, the further it gets, the harder it is to get back in front of it. And so, keeping it as close as you can is is very, very important. Otherwise, things get lost, things get forgotten. my I have a spreadsheet of repairs that we were able to hold off on this fiscal year because say where I'm at right now almost say 50 $60,000 I have to plan for cooling season to end this fiscal year if

059I have a major compressor failure cost me 20 30 grand so I can't spend that in the middle of winter I have to plan because I do not have that funded I have to plan to hold on to the so those repairs that I've had to walk away from are in a spreadsheet and they become number one priority at the beginning of next fiscal year. Otherwise, most of the time your focus and your money goes right to the squeak squeakiest wheel at that given time. And that's what I mean about that aball running out. Those things, those repairs that I have documented, they get forgotten and the current squeaky wheel gets fixed and that's how that a ball gets further out. as we're building this year's budget and we spent kind of all year doing

060it. Um, how significant is our facility rental like the auditorium and gyms and stuff? How is that a significant amount of money? >> Tens of tens of thousands? >> not even tens of thousands. >> It could be u definitely under 20,000. Do we just trying to say, "Hey, they're using our facility. It' be appropriate to put%." Yeah. But at the end of the day, there's that balance of do we make it cost prohibitive for somebody and we lose that customer in general. And so I'm blessed to not have to be the one who makes those decisions. But yeah, I mean, they are using my facilities, my equipment, my department. >> I I like where your head's at. But >> I take that back. I was thinking the auditorium but the yeah the the Madison Scouts

061now will be on year two and that was that was just around just under 20,000 if I remember right last week >> um for their um >> we're getting that back this year >> three weeks >> what's that >> we're getting that back again >> yeah yep and I we're just using it in the general fund so we're spending it someplace but I kind of like the idea of trying to earmark even a percentage of that because some of it is wear and tear in our building. We have to >> and same with Max with the grounds, you know, >> probably more his grounds for the Madison scouts, but >> Right. Right. Right. But no, even it's 1% it's something. So, whatever you guys are willing and able to do >> something to think about.

062>> 15 years, you're looking at turf. You know what to replace. Just it's like a roof. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Is there anything we have to vote on? You do have to approve this >> annually for fun 46. >> So need a motion to approve. >> Approve. Second. >> Motion second. All those in favor. >> Opposed. Motion carried. >> Thank you, sir. >> Thank you. >> How was your dinner the other night? >> That was good. >> We saw at San Pedro's the like first time I've ever been there. >> You got to get there for like early bird special. It's super cheap. It's like three o'clock in the >> Cindy and I go there about three or four times a week. >> All right. Thank you. Uh lawn service lawn care. >> Good

063evening. Bids go out for the application for all the grounds and uh the mowing for baseball and softball field. Currently ferns are still they they were the cheapest overall. Some some didn't have anything to put in for bids for application or roundup or anything like that. Um firms did have an increase from the last contract of almost $5,000 which isn't terrible considering the products. >> How many years do we contract with them? I think >> couple at a time. Two years at a time. Three years at a time. >> Years. I think J told me this like 10th or 11th year. >> Yeah. They've been doing a lot. I just wondered how frequently we were bit three. >> Yeah. And uh even to like say their current mowing rate. Um I got asked that was

064funny. I got asked that out in the community and I was like well I'd have to hire a part-time guy just to do those fields. So, they're really I think they really give us a big deal. And with your if with your permission, I'd like to approve them of the three-year contract at 24, 28. Um, that's if we only do twice a week mowing. Um, if they got to do a third because LA last summer we had to do with all the rain, we had to add some birds in there. Um, one of your guys's a permission. I'd love to give them the word them the contract and >> I'm going to make a motion. >> Motion to approve. >> Second. >> Moved and seconded. All those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed. >>

065Thanks for your good work. >> Thank you very much. >> Good. >> Just for the record, Mr. Todd is both of my kids favorite teachers. >> Yeah. Major Hannah's cutting board was better than Jenn's. >> Okay. Anybody have graduates that want to do diplomas? Nobody has graduates, so we need people to do it. >> What's the date? >> 28th. May 28th. >> Thursday the 28th. >> 7 p.m. >> How many people do you need? >> Two or three. at least two. >> Try and do it. >> Ron will do it. >> I'll do it. I haven't done it for 20 years. >> I'm doing it next year for sure. So, >> so Ron and I wear a suit, do I? >> I'm not wearing a suit. You gonna wear a suit? >> No, you have

066to wear a suit. >> We used to We used to have to wear suits. >> All right. So, if you'd send out an invitation just to remind me. Sorry, >> forget it. Hey. Um, we will do meet and confer with support staff, teachers. I've suggested we also meet with the admin team. I think we'll do that as a committee of the whole maybe in a close session because it really involves negotiation. Um, but we need teams kind of two or three people. Historically, I guess the president's been on all of them kind of exeicio. So, um it's usually uh second week of May then ideally, but um >> often been a Monday. >> Do we know who did what? >> I did I did support last year. >> So on the teacher last year, we

067had Brad, Derek, Dave, and Nate. >> So say that again. >> The teacher one was Brad, Derek, Dave, and Nate. And then the support staff was Erica, Jeff, and Lance. What was the support again? >> You and you, Erica, and Lance. >> Oh, oh, and Lance. >> Is there any reason anybody You have to do the So, just leave those the same. Everybody good with that? >> Erica. >> Yeah. You want to do support staff >> probably? And will that be made a conflict. Yeah, same as you. >> So, we put him up. >> Well, then it's you put Derek or Dave down with us. >> Dave, you want to do >> and I'll probably show up both. >> Okay. and we'll work on you'll work on a date >> that works for >> and

068just as a reminder Ron you wouldn't know but we meet with each group kind of independently so we get 10 15 minutes with each group and some have a bunch of people some have a few >> usually designate a few speakers >> and they come with kind of work conditions that they'd like consider or whatever >> and we'll communicate expectations ahead of time this year um >> so they'll know what the >> they will have been communicated their purpose meeting is >> what we at 5 or 4 >> right after school >> teachers were right after >> believe we did them all the same night >> teachers from 3:30 to 4 and then started the support staff right after that I think we did like a 15inut break >> sign up it could go to

0698:30ish >> 20 25 minutes >> 15 minutes um for each group >> it was only or 20 maybe it's 20 minutes >> and it I think it's really important that everybody on the staff team feels like they can have an opportunity to talk directly to the board ideas >> so good all right so that's set and we'll work on a night to meet with admin >> in uh at the regular meeting >> yeah we're trying to schedule the date tonight would have start with maybe May 11th. >> Um I'll be at Mayo that night. >> Let's see. Yeah, I can't I can't even I couldn't even get back in time. >> May force a little too quick return on schedule. >> School board meeting is the 18th. Are we going to just do it on

070a meeting night? >> I don't know if we get them all in before seven. And we're looking at potentially going and touring um after Wednesday's app style projects for CTE at 6ish. That >> is Wednesday. That works for me. Yeah. What time? >> So, we want to do what we did last year and do 3:30 to 4 for the teachers and then start support staff right after that. >> Cali, do I have to be at that? >> Yeah, >> I'm out of town. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> 20th is awards night, right? Senior awards night. 18th the board meeting. Thursday the 14th. So there's some baseball, softball, activities, track. Um, so the six is too six is too quick to turn it around. >> The sixth. >> May six. >> Yeah. Two days. Thursday morning

071in the 70s. >> Like to get it done before school's out and 27th. Wednesday the 27th. >> It's open. >> Yep. >> We make it open. >> May 27th. >> That's good. >> That work? Yep. >> 3:30. >> Yep. Teachers at 3:30 and the support staff work. >> You're now on support staff >> teachers with me. >> Right here. Hey >> okay. >> Uh next consideration of a representative to the when's that CISA annual meeting? What >> that's going to be during >> close session. I believe >> the annual meeting is session doesn't say in the >> it's on June 1st. Is that what you're asking? >> Yep. >> Yeah. At 7 p.m. I think >> I can do that. >> I'll nominate Jeff. >> All right. Perfect. >> To be a representative. All >>

072in favor? Anybody opposed? Nay. And CIA is terrible about sending out invites. Would you send an invite? >> Y >> and they don't send them out till like two or three days before the meeting. Like what the heck? >> Have something else planned by then. >> All right. Who's up with the next one? Uh that is me. And Chance can uh well, you're welcome to uh interject at any time as well. So, uh, per policy 940, naming the district facilities, uh, I have a request. Um, I'll pull this up here. Uh, behalf of Mindy Ramberg's entire Panther family respectfully requests school board's permission to name the SEC Middle School Fifth Grade Wing and her honor, officially naming it the Mindy Ramberg fifth grade wing. Mindy's impact was felt by each and every person she interacted

073with. To know her was a gift. If you met her even once, she had your name, your face, and something about you locked into her memory. She did it without effort, as it was her beautiful heart and control of it all. While this was Mindy's approach with everyone, it was what Mindy's students whom she poured everything into. Folks would be lucky to accomplish in a lifetime what Mindy is able to do with her students in her 15 years at SEC. Naming the fifth grade wing in her honor would help ensure her legacy lives on forever. family thanks you for your consideration of this. Um now uh per policy it meets all the requirements. Um so as part of naming other facilities or areas of the facility which we um have a history of of doing

074um so uh should be reviewed against the following criteria. The extent to which the proposed name reflects or exemplifies the mission, vision or ideals of the district. the extent to which the proposed name will have a significant meaning to current and future students, other members of the school community and other members of the broader local community. And if named after a person, they must not be a current employee. They must have served as an acceptable and relevant role model for students and have made an extraordinary contribution within the fields of education, science, art, business or philanthropy. Um >> so uh I uh have evaluated the proposal against those criteria and I I I uh am uh wholeheartedly uh recommending uh this request to the board for your consideration. >> We'll make a motion to approve

075those. >> Second. >> Any further discussion? Sounds like an excellent thing. I that statement you made ought to be on a plaque someplace there because that really exemplifies what she was about and really captured that and you know something like that needs to be there and to me it seems to be ought to have some pink in it someplace. >> Any further discussion? All those in favor say I. I >> oppose. Motion carried. A good memorial. We have uh two first readings. Administer administering medication to students and district response to alleged sexual harassment under title nine. I guess there's a third one. Procedures for handling public complaints. First reading. Anything you want to tell us about these? >> Uh no. We're uh I mean other than uh again um working with Barry Forbes WSB PRG

076we're into the rules now um and then as things come up he recommends what uh we should be working on and suggested some of these as uh the first rules and things um to do and then the medication one is one that came up from our our health staff. Um so um that's kind of going to be the norm. uh rules uh are next and then other things as they come up um different uh >> any things recommended or were required by the state. >> Any significant changes from what the WASBA policy book would recommend for these policies? Did we make any special changes related to our district from what the United >> No, no action required there. Next month we'll have second reading and if looking at it you have any comments you want

077to just give them a call. Future agenda items. Anything you need to have on the agenda? Upcoming of dates? We cancelled April 26 board development. Uh May 7th now, um staff appreciation breakfast. May 18th is our regular board meeting. And May 28th, Ron and I will be uh in cleaned up form to hand out diplomas to get all because you know with every graduate you hand a diploma to, you're getting your picture taken. Because that student is special to somebody. All right. Someone want to read make a motion for close session. Sure. Make a motion per Wisconsin state statute 19.851C concerning employment promotion compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which governmental body has juris jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Uh consideration of approval of wages and benefits for 2627 approval of resignations,

078retirements, terminations, approval of appointments and contract modifications. Uh in addition per Wisconsin state statute 19.851F 851F considering financial, medical, social, or personal histories or disciplinary data for specific persons. Preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where PAR B applies which if discussed in public would be likely to have substantial adverse effects upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories or data or involved in such problems or investigations. Uh facilities use discussion. >> We have a motion. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Roll call. Dave. >> I close session. Give us
