Please note that pursuant to state law, the board cannot engage in conversation with you, but may ask questions. The board may refer the item to staff, a standing committee, or a future agenda for discussion and action. Each person wishing to speak will have up to three minutes to speak. Speakers are asked to write their name, address, and topic for discussion. There will be no personal attacks allowed and comments must not be profane or vulgar. And a reminder that there is only three minutes. Uh, with that being said, are there any public comments today? Um um I when I'm recruit I meet him and I came to
speak because I feel that I did not get I might as well be any other people did not get an answer or or a folder or whatever you want to call it um on the agenda to my knowledge of what I understood other you had at the end that you open um again for us to come in unless I did not understand that um there was a bunch of us who probably noticed were in the hallway and we did see two members walk out but that was to me not an indication that the meeting was open doors again um other meetings that I have been to have you know open the doors not just people coming out so again unless I didn't get it or I'm not sure how things Um, I'm just kind of
curious as to why the doors weren't open and more communication of I guess that's how that's what I felt like would happen or my understanding of it that you would get some kind of talk on it. Um so then my question is again um just kind of um and saying these are my opinions and Catholically my children will not be taken any action against because it kind of seemed like at the same meeting other people were spoken and they no longer in the school or things brought attention And from rumor, so to say, because we have no clear 100% interesting things, they are no longer able to sub or they're no longer able to be there after bringing forth things, which just kind of seems like things are happening in our district and are coming
to the board for internal investigations. Um, and even though they are internal, if it affects a majority or the district's fully piece of I kind of feel like the people in the district should kind of get a thinking of what is happening more than just we're going in a different direction. This is and I'm specifically referring to um they've the coach has been there for many many years and to as a parent, not even a as a coach to hear that it's just that well we're going in a different direction kind of just seems like a slap in the face and um and then as a parent I'm thinking well what the heck happened and if it was that serious shouldn't it just have been one more than one family, one child to be talked
to. Like shouldn't all the all the girls cuz this is specific if they wore that girl wrestling have been talked to? Like did something happened that maybe they could have shed light to? the appearance like I just kind of feel like things are getting shoved under where kind of go over our heads and just not a lot of answers to things and people honestly afraid to come and say something and really not have much trust in the board and prior to this I didn't come to the meetings but I plan not to in the future because I feel like I dropped the ball like was there something that I missed Was there something that I could have spoke up again on there? Or I guess I just feel kind of at a loss that we
tell our children if you see something that's not right, stand up for it. The kids came, they were hoping for answers. The parents came, they were hoping for answers. And it just feels like we didn't get it. And I it makes me sad because if it's something that could have been fixed or you needed more evidence or what not, I I'm not sure. I just feel like we had a great law. Um >> thank you Veronica. Your three minutes are up. >> Uh next for public comments. >> Want to ask Veronica something though? >> Yep. You are allowed to ask questions. Yeah. >> I'm just going to ask you a question. What do you feel the board like that could do as many meetings that um I like I said if this was such a
big I don't even know yet what happened. So I can't there's rumors and I can't from what I gather if it was developed that now there's cameras in the wrestling. Um, coaches are asking my daughters if they can touch him. Um, uh, like that brings like a hole, you know what I'm saying? And I, and if something like that happened, they the girls should have been allowed cuz I I have asked my girls like, "What what is going on with you? Like, what do you feel?" And I have full trust in Scott and his family that I didn't question. And I and I So do you feel that there's transparency? >> No. Not at all. Because this if this happened last year, then a meeting should have been helped like or the or the um
or the athletes themselves, whether it was boy or girls or the parents. Um if if it was internal, it kind of maybe you should have the outside come and do the investigation. Um because it just kind of seems not I just think that from the outside that a family investigated if there was allegations been made or fashion about 14 parents could have had an insight on it children like what did what did they see because you know unfortunately this day and age people eye I'm not saying that that's what happened but I think you should have gone to every extent to try to find out what happened. Um, and given like that there was a chance to defend themselves, I feel I feel like this was done without them being able to defend themselves. >>
Any other questions, Dan? Okay. >> Thank you. >> Uh, I did see someone else for a public comment. I don't Oh, go ahead. Um, okay. Most of you know me from last month. Um, Casey Frederick, I'm here again today to speak because unfortunately there are a lot of people, as she just stated, that want to say something but are now scared to speak up um because of what happened to me after last month's meeting. For those that don't know, um after last month's meeting, I was let go as a sub and volunteers. I think that really solidified um that the saying that people were saying like if you speak up you're the master. It makes me very sad for the outlift on Humpty. These are young impressionable minds and I think that we are studying
the wrong and they need strong leaders who are consistent and present and show that they want to get to know the students and care deeply about their future education but need support, guidance, reliability and trust. What was done to me by putting me out of the school didn't only do me any justice because I actually do care. But it only has continued to hurt staff and students even this. I have been a longtime consistent involved parent in every aspect of fun. A volunteer community admitted volunteer who have donated beyond countless hours of my time to help staff prep and keep things up with life. I have been a friendly face, a safe porn morning conversation to start the day off right for students and staff for many years now. I have been a go-to sub
that staff could count on, someone that they knew and trusted and didn't have to worry while they were gone. I have been the excitement in kids' voices when they learn that it's Mrs. Frederick as their sub today. Not only do these kids see me in the school, but they see me in the community as well. I choose to dedicate my time and coach as well and show up to see these kids at their sports activities. I'm a friendly, caring, safe, and consistent face that just wants the best for his children. It disappoints me to know that I am no longer in that building, but I'm having staff, students, and parents continue to come to me with concerns that are still seeing things in a negative light. I am heartbroken that another month has passed and
things are still continuing to suff to suffer for these adolescent minds at Funky. I'm afraid that you made the wrong decision in letting someone go that only spoke from her heart and wanted support for staff and what is right for the children. I'm asking you to look deeper into the common denominator and do what's right for where it all starts in the district with these young beautiful souls at home. They are Nusa's future and they deserve what is right. >> Thank you, Casey. Uh was there more public comments tonight? Yeah, I think I'll just add on to what threw on at the listening um since I already had it written. So, I was just deeply disappointed by the level of disrespect shown at the last meeting when open session, which was explicitly listed on the
agenda um was adjourned without addressing the audience. Many community members were clearly waiting for a response and ending session without any acknowledgement or answers was what I felt inappropriate and unacceptable. I submitted an open records request immediately after and received a response that lacks substance and clarity. This raises serious concerns about transparency and communication within uh both the board and the administration. How can the community place trust in its leadership when basic expectations for openness are not being met? As a community, we are asking one simple reasonable question. What prompted the dismissal of hardworking, devoted individuals? This is especially troubling given that the wrestling program was thriving. The results were outstanding and the students were clearly benefiting. I can confidently say that the level of devotion is hard to match um when they were supporting
the academic achievement as well as the athletic uh achievement of these children. Um I just don't know if that's going to be a priority like it had been in the past. Our community deserves answers. Withholding information only fuels speculation and erodess public confidence. I strongly urge the board to prioritize transport, transparency, clear communication, and accountability when imposed. >> Thank you. I didn't catch your person, >> Addie. >> Uh, any more public comments for tonight? >> Yeah, I'll go. Therber. Um September 19th, the parents were all sent an email stating that uh do not use Facebook anymore for communication. We only use Parents Parent Square and Team Reach. Um there's still winter coaches using Facebook right now. U maybe they should be removed. That's what I feel I guess at this point since we're nitpicking on
everything. Um, also his wife did state, um, interesting when a comment that doesn't fit whatever narrative the media is trying to give gets deleted immediately. Um, 10 comments were deleted on the Musa School District Facebook page. Again, why are we setting double standards for sports programs versus the Musa community school district? Viewpointbased removal is unconstitutional. Think you guys better brush up on your laws. Comments should be reinstated on that Facebook page immediately. Thank you. Okay. Thank you, Scott. Uh, more public comments tonight. All right. Seeing and hearing none, we'll move forward um into showcasing schools and student learning. Uh tonight we have Heidi Hartman and Cassie um doing the National Bard certification. You guys have four. >> Is it okay if we sit here or do you want us to sit right here? >> What?
Whatever's uh comfortable for you. >> Okay. All right. For me sitting. >> Yeah. Um, over the past several years, the district has invested in teachers through the National Board Certifications for Teachers process. And those of us that have worked through it have come to know NBCT um that acronym very well throughout time. And we're here to share with you what exactly that means for the teachers here at Pakusa uh in the NUSA school district. And uh for those of you who don't know, Heidi teaches fourth grade in uh Annas and I teach fifth grade there right now. So all right. Um but what is national board certification? Um it is uh teachers earning the highest credential a teacher can receive. Um it's equivalent to certification in like medicine, accounting, um engineering. Um it it is
voluntary. Uh however it is rigorous multi-year uh process that examines everything about their practice um how we plan our lessons how we support our students um how we create a positive learning environment in our classrooms measuring their learning and then growing professionally as a teacher um so uh but it recognize accomplished teachers um you may continue next slide I'm working on back. >> Yep. All right. So, as I continue with what is nasty board certification, um it is individualized. Um whether you are an art teacher, CE teacher, a counselor, a classroom teacher like Heidi and myself, um you work through the process and meet the needs of your students in your classroom. Um it really focuses on your classroom and what you are doing as a teacher in your classroom. Um as a teacher, you
really need to get to know your in many different aspects besides uh academic learning. And this process uh helps us uh learn social emotional, connect with families um and other teachers that service our students. >> Often people ask what's the difference between national boards and a master's degree? And um national boards is it's its focus is accomplished teaching practice um focusing on your instructional strategies and the student learning. Whereas the master's per um degree is deepens your subject knowledge. It produces um it gives you more educational theory researchbased analysis and some of it you can apply to your classroom but with national boards you can apply all of it to your classroom. Um the process for national boards is inquiry based. It's a portfolio system where you submit um evidence through lesson plans, videos, student
work and you have to pass a content exam. Whereas the process with the national boards is university coursework, research papers, thesises and exams to go with that. The goal for um the national boards is to recognize and develop advanced teaching skills and foster teacher leadership and retention. And whereas the goal with the masters is an academic degree expanding your knowledge base. >> You both um what did we have to do? What what did the process involve? It involved one to three years of lots of work. lots of reflection. Um there were four components and one component is uh content knowledge with 45 multiple choice questions and three essay questions based on the standards in your certification area. There's 16 certification areas. Um and within those certification areas, they're based on different age groups. So it
becomes very specific. For instance, both of ours was middle child generalist which focused on folks focused on all of the subject areas for children >> well I think it's 7 to 12 year olds >> 7 to 12 year olds. >> Yeah. Yep. So about second grade through sixth grade >> and we had to really know our content through all of that and how it's processed. another cont uh component focused on differentiation and how we differentiated for our students. One on our teaching practices where they did a we had to do a video analyze reflect everything we did through that. And then the other and the fourth component focused on uh professional development, student needs and how we use data to inform our decision making within the classroom. Um within the four components uh the first
one is the test. The other three um are written commentary where we write about 90 to 100 pages of reflection, evidence and ration. Um I have spent many days at Panera Bread working um and Heidi had tracked and she said about a 100 hours per component. So if you're thinking four component that's a lot of hours that we put in um over the one to three years. um you have three years to uh try to pass all four components, but then you have up to five to retake those components um as both of us have done, which is another 80 to 100 hours uh of time that we put into it. That stuff. So, >> so lots of time, lots of effort. Um it does uh produce a growth mindset for us as teachers. Uh
many teachers report that the national board certification is the most powerful professional development that we have ever experienced and I I can vouch for that. I agree with that because it was personalized to me. I had to search it out and I had to implement it. >> Um so it informed or sorry transformed our uh instructional practices. Um we really think about how we plan, assess and build student relationships. Um high impact teachers who become leaders create stronger schools. Um, not only, um, do we bring new ideas, I like worked with my, um, team and my co-workers and kind of what I was doing in my classroom, I let them know and they tried it out in their classroom. So, I'm um, helping them out as well. Um, and it promotes confidence, expertise, and a
passion to continue to improve improve and seek out other professional development opportunities. Next slide. Um, it is researchbased. Uh it promotes higher student achievement, stronger instructional practices and increased teacher leadership. Um it not only benefits the students but also the district. Um we have more effective teaching, personalized teaching, uh increase in uh engagement, uh and growth, uh stronger teacher retention. Um we know that teachers stay where they are supported the most and grow. Um and then if we as a district communicate well, having uh the national board show families that the district is investing in teachers um excellence as well. And who are this district certified teachers? Um, we had 10 teachers when we were asked to present. We have 12 teachers because scores were released on Saturday. So, we're proud to add two more
teachers to this list of teachers. And I'm not going to go through all that everybody on that list. But it that's a lot of work and effort and a lot of extra hours that are put into it. And then one other thing I wanted to add too is just because you certify as a teacher doesn't mean you keep it for life every five years you have to maintain that certification and go through not the entire process. It's >> I I I don't know because I haven't been through maintenance certification yet. So >> I think it's just one component but still every five years. So um and also another thing is we there is a deadline um we have to have everything in by middle of May. So we're doing this in the middle of school
um using our hours outside of the outside of school. Um but we do not get our test scores until December. Um so it's a long wait for that, but um so as we're waiting for those scores to come in. Um but it's well worth it. Um all the work that we put into it and what we see in our classrooms and and how our students are growing have a huge benefit with it. >> And even when you don't certify the first time and you try again and then you don't certify the second time and you try again, it's still worth it. Um 13% of our staff in this district is certified which is a huge number of teachers that is certified. The average in the nation is 3%. Um I got different numbers. When I
put this number in it said 91,000 somewhere else I saw 140,000. So somewhere in there that's still when you're talking 3.8 to four million teachers in the nation that's a very small number of teachers. Wisconsin's average is 2.7%. um four others four other people in our district have gone through some of the components and four others are interested in the near future. So that's eight additional teachers besides the 12 that are up there that either have received some of the professional development through this process or are going to seek that out in the near future. So what can we do? Invest in the teachers in this process. support the board the the path to national board certification, encourage us and that builds a culture of excellence within our schools. And I want to thank the
board for um including the national boards as part of the compensation model because that does help uh that does help with the whole process. So thank you. >> Uh questions for Heidi or Cassie? >> I just have a comment. This is a a very intense professional development much much more intense than what the school district offers as teachers as a as professional development and we compliment you for going through that. >> Great. Thank you >> and kudos to those uh 12 teachers in the district. That's awesome to see. >> Have a question. So again congratulations to everyone that that's fantastic when we look at the the average and what it has. Why do you think that it is so? I think when um we when we worked with the compensation committee to make that important
to this district through that that encouraged along the way but every single person that has gone through it and we have um everything single person that has gone through it said it was worth their time and their effort to go through it. It is it does involve a cost to us personally um in initially and the district does support that once we have achieve certification with compensation for that as long as we maintain it. Um I just I always looked at it as a value. I knew one other person that ever did it. Um I always wanted to do it whether there was compensation or not. Um what initially made me not do it is through the state you still had to maintain teacher certification and do credits and the process for maintaining that and
I had so many different areas it wouldn't cover all of those areas because of certification and then when the state went to the um master teachers then it covered everything. So, >> so I I just I'm thrilled to have been a part of it. >> And I think just word of mouth, too. It's like talking to our co-workers and just what they've seen us go through um the process we've done and the outcomes that come of it. Um the things that we have incorporated in their classroom that are working um because of what we've done. I mean, we had to take videos, two videos, and have to watch them. Watch yourself teach is not fun. Um but you literally have to nitpick and take everything out and write everything out. um and watch your Yeah.
to watch teach. It's a lot. 15 minutes. >> 15 minutes. >> You have to show everything in 15 minutes. >> So So it's a lot. But but yeah, the you know the four that are interested, they're really you know, we've been talking about this and letting them know. >> I think the more teachers that get certified, the more support there is for future teachers to go through to be able to assist them. I'd like to be able to pay it forward and um help other teachers with this process. It's been a dream of mine to help them, but I didn't feel like I could help them till I certified. >> Well, thank you. Thank you for presenting on this. >> Any other board questions? >> Well, thank you for uh helping raise awareness to this
and kudos again to those 12 that achieved that. Um we are going to move on now to communicating with the board. Um our business manager and interim district administrator, Lyn Knight. >> So, at your um space, I gave you the audit report. The auditors finished their work and they submitted the financials on time to the Department of Public Construction. Um, I'm giving you the report so you can look it over. Uh, I will be presenting and asking the board to approve the report in January. So, that is for your reading pleasure. >> Um, is our student representative here today, Keith? >> No. >> Any high school updates on the top of your head there? Uh well, I mean, winter sports seasons are in in progress and happening. Um the student council went to the Bucks,
the middle school and high school student councils went to the Bucks Leadership Conference last week. Uh we had the band concert for the middle school and high school. That was this past Monday. Sorry. >> Um next week is the choir concert for high school and middle school. That's December 15th at 6 pm. Um the uh battle of the burner happened. That was a student cooking competition that we one of the business classes put that together as a um an entrepreneurial activity and then they had registrations and they competed and awarded the winners in three different categories. So I think and of course a lot of excited students with a snow day today. Um Josh Colo, uh basketball coaching practices. >> Uh been a couple years since I thrown the board. I try to come just
kind of, you know, communicate with what's going on basketball our basketball zone. for the boys. Um, couple things I implemented this year to try to try to grow these, you know, sometimes more about the sport, more about trying to grow these young men into respectful young men and try to get on the same page with the school as far as discipline and respect. So, this year I incorporated, it's what was called strike rule. So if they violate three rules or you know they get free strikes and they're that are removed from the program and that seems to have been helpful this year compared to last year with some of the rules that were violated. Um extended the WIA rules for grades this year. So instead of quarter I'm doing weekly checks on their grades. Um
if they have two more than two Fs they can't play that week unless they are passing per standards. um started the week before the season. Out of my 34 kids that signed up, I had six that had two Fs or more and right now I have two one's corrected it already this week. So they'll be able to play tomorrow or find anything and one um this kid's been about six. So I you know within that take that and communicate with the teacher. So that's seemed to been helping because when the winter sports when you get that quarter two that's kind of time much time to playoffs or you know or finals in the things and then that really can hurt your team missing a couple guys um towards the end of the season. So I'm
trying to hold them a little more accountable. Parents are doing really well with it. Um this year I lost I think eight seniors from last year. So we're a little down this year. Not a lot of I got one kid with like true varsity experience. So our our record is not great, but they're showing a lot of growth and making good proud so >> and uh kudos to those kids from going from 16 Fs down to two. So that's good to see too. And um any questions for Josh? Good luck in the rest of your season. Uh moving on to policy governance. um our two academic performance district report cards. Um we had a pretty long board workshop last week. Um anything you want to highlight, Lynn, on this? >> Um no, the act the
principles and um Sarah did a phenomenal job presenting uh the report cards. We had a phenomenal report card. So kudos to the principal, the leadership team. Um they did their work. So I'm really really proud of them. Well, I'll look for a motion. Um, if there's any further discussion, move >> first by Dave. >> Second. Any discussion? >> Hearing none, those all in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed. Motion carries. >> Uh, up next is GP7 agenda planning. I'll look for a motion. >> First by Dave. >> A second. >> Second. uh discussion on this. >> Yeah, there are times when I've asked to have things put on an agenda and not so much. It it fictionates. So, just wondering, you know, how a board member goes about having something put on an agenda
that they feel is important enough to discuss. Um, you know, I I don't know how that happens. So that's it. >> Thanks. >> Um, any other discussion? We have a first and a second. Those all in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed. >> One. So three yes, one no. Motion carries for GP7. Uh, up next is OE6 financial planning. I'll look for a motion on this one. >> Uh, first by Dave. Second, Jennifer discussion. I know Lynn broke down this one and the next two moving forward was financials. Um, as always, reach out to her for any questions. Uh, no discussion. Those on her, please say I. >> I. Opposed? None. Motion carried. Uh, O7 Financial Administration. Look for a motion. I'll move Dave. Do we have a second? Jennifer. Uh discussion on this
one. All right. Hearing none. Those on favor, please say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carried. And our last one here, OE8 asset protection. We had a little bit longer conversation on this one. Um, I'll look for a motion before discussion. >> Got a first by Jennifer. >> Second by Dave. Any discussion on this one. All right. Hearing none. Those all fer, please say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carried. Uh, up next is other board work. Um, a review of action plans and emergency action drills. >> Yes. So, we Officer Cole and myself had to do two unannounced uh preparedness drills for safety each year. Uh we just did one at each other schools uh in the last week. Uh at Humpy Elementary, we still continue to do our room by room with our
littleser in the beginning of the year goes in, works with them on what a lockdown looks like and they practice in there and then we come in and outs um get the room all riled up and then we send them off into the lockdown. Um, I I will say with our littles, they did a phenomenal job. Every one of the rooms that we went into, I mean, we were under 30 seconds. From the time we said to the time the kids got their spot, got their voice levels to where they need to be. Uh, teachers did a great job. Uh, they had the window coverings, they close that, the lights off. Uh, we did hear uh a lot of praise for not the barricades anymore. Um, as we found, we removed those recently and the
doors have been locked and secured. So Humphrey did a great job. Um the middle school and the high school, we tend to do a more traditional uh we come in, we just make an announcement. This year we made an announcement uh we would be in a a lockdown. We gave no other further information than that. Um Officer Meyer, Officer Cole, myself went around, checked all the doors, locked and secured. Each of those was under five minutes uh from start to finish by the time we made the announcement, checked all the doors in the building, and then lifted the lock up. So, all in all, our our schools are doing what we need. Our doors are locked and secured during the school day. Um, and we're following the procedures we have for closing the windows and
and staying in the location. Um, is was there anything that you found? I know a couple years ago we talked about um allowed allowing I think in one of the gyms. I just didn't know if there were any any cons. Anything that you guys found? Yeah, we we continue to have and this is the nice part about it is we do these drills. Uh we get the information like they could not hear um in this area. So then we follow up with Steve Bford who's also on safety committee uh looking into areas that either they couldn't hear or there was some issue. Uh so we we just have one area I still have on my notes list to look into and keep keep getting better. >> Uh we'll look for a motion on this. before
we go to questions. First by Dave. >> We have a second >> uh questions or discussion for >> I can attest to lockdown because I I had opportunity I usually don't go into any schools but had opportunity to go into the middle school a week or so ago and I had to go through the security to begin. It's it's good that that's when it's not done but yeah. Uh >> anything else from the board? Well, thank you guys for doing those checks. Um, if there's no other discussion, those all in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed? Motion carried. Up next is school calendar approval. Anything you want to add to that? >> Um, no. Uh, we try and and um match our calendars with the two other school districts, Rapids and Port. Um, in
past years we've done a pretty good job of it, but in the current past few years it seems to have gotten, you know, swayed a little bit. Uh, Port has not decided when their spring break is going to be just yet. And Rapids has decided to put their spring break a week before Easter. So, we looked at our calendar to see what works for our district. Um, we brought it to the principles. The principles then brought it to their staff for any questions and um they they like the calendar the way we had it set up. So, uh we are bringing it to the board for approval. >> Uh look for emotions before we have discussion. Uh first by Dave second. Uh any discussion or questions? >> Yeah, I'd like to know um is there
any has there ever been a discussion on why we have numerous service days. I mean, it's one thing to have them. It's another thing as a board member, even a parent or whomever, to know what actually goes on in these insert days. Like, how how beneficial are they? I mean, that's what I would like to know. I mean, I'm not saying anything wrong against them. I just would like to know how beneficial they are. Like, are the students benefiting from these insert stays? Because this should really be all about the students. It's not about teachers being getting professional development during a time when teachers or students should be in school. Right. I just that's what I would like to know. >> I can just say um from my perspective and being in the district thus
far in this role um I think inservice days are incredibly important for a number of reasons and it's all directed at student learning. I think um we always go at uh professional development as intentional and purposeful so that teachers are able to have some time and planning um to utilize strategies or I should say plan out and uh use strategies um learn new methodologies all of those kinds of things as well as uh become more proficient with the curriculum and variety of curriculum resources that they're using. So I would say um that those days are are precious really um in I I I would like you know in terms of teachers as well um and we always ask for their feedback and uh with the intent to cater it so that it's um meaningful for
them and for our students. So >> thanks. >> Yeah, absolutely. as a parent, as an and an educator, um I feel that it would be more beneficial if the teachers had more time in the summer to be able to do some of these things. Um because then you can delve into things and really be able to research it and plan it and figure out how am I going to use this. To me, doing it sporadically isn't as beneficial. It's like going to a workshop during the school year. You learn all this material. now go into your classroom and try using that. By the way, it isn't always beneficial. >> I was just going to say that I think yeah, moving forward, we would really like to implement more depth during um the summertime and then
of course revisiting and refreshing on that knowledge and um >> there's always a cost to summer PD as well because of the contracts um that they're not >> contracted in the summer. Yeah, >> you mentioned you use our um ether input on calendar. We gather parents input. Have we done that in the past? >> I don't know if we've done that in the past. >> Um I mean the parents give feedback, you know, as far as over the year as a calendar as we work with the calendar. Um but I don't think this year it wasn't sent out and students provide their feedback. So that's what they said. Uh, more questions or discussion? All right. Hearing none. Uh, we have a first and a second. Those all in favor, please say I. >> I. Opposed.
>> Uh, three yes, one no. Motion carries. Moving on then to approval of resolution to exceed the revenue limits. Um we'll get a motion first and then we'll go into discussion first. >> I'll second it. >> Seconds. Um we'll go into discussion and anything you wanted to add as well. >> So this first question is actually um this first resolution is actually approval of the question. So, we are asking um to to uh the question will be to exceed the revenue limit by $2 million per year for 5 years for non-recurring purposes. And that uh is for the April referendum. >> All right. So, we do have a first and a second. Any other questions for Lynn? We've been talking about this for a while. So, we'll go into a roll call vote then. Uh
Dave, if you'd read that. >> Jennifer, >> yes. I say yes and >> no. >> Including >> yes. Uh motion carries. Um the next one here is approval of resolution for referendum. Um this is for the election on the question of the approval of a resolution authorizing the district budget to exceed revenue limit by 2 million per year for five years for non-recurrent purposes. I'll look for a motion before we go to discussion. So uh first by Dave second. second uh discussion or anything you want to add. >> And this is the actual of putting the question on the ballot. Um there are some type A, B, C, D, and E, F notices that are also attached to the agenda. You do not have to approve those. Those are just for your um reference. >>
And those are also linked. Uh discussion from the board. All right. Uh Dave, if you do roll call. >> Uh Jennifer, >> Yes. And >> no. >> Yes. >> Uh motion passes. Up next is the consent agenda. Uh resignation. Uh Sue Schmidtz, um special education assistant. Does anyone want to speak on her behalf? >> Work with Silvates, but we need to know she was back. Well, she had re she had retired and then came back um briefly and um has decided to retire again. So, appreciate her. Um she was just there for uh a short amount of time. >> Well, enjoy your retirement, Sue. And then employment, we have Candy Monroe, um the Humpy Special Education Assistance. Uh Christopher Horvaka, sorry if I pronounced it wrong. Alternative education teacher for Nucusa Academy, and Dave, you
want to leave donations? >> Positions, we had $500 from John and Karen Peters for the food for the food pantry, $250 from Micah and Natalie Mueller for the food pantry. Uh, for backpack for kids, we have $100 from Deborah Chase, $20 anonymous, $90 from Bethany Lutheran Limited Missions, $38 from Rome Makers HCE, $50 from Diane Grineer, um, $2,000 from Bethle Lutheran Church, $300 from New Rome Community Church, and for parents, families helping families, $300 inclusive backport Edwards Knights of Columbus. Thank you for your donations. We appreciate everything that you gave us. >> Thanks, saving. Great donations this month. Thank you to everyone. Uh minutes 11 1225 was a regular board meeting. 12:30 was a board workshop. And then at this time, I'll look for a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Can
I just ask question's question? We can get an answer for her >> for which for which one >> of adding pieces to the >> Sure. Yeah, we can add is that we can add that after you upload the consent agenda for discussion if you'd like. >> All right, go ahead. >> Um, can you can we just answer his question before so there's items that the board would like on the agenda? >> Sure. Uh, usually each board member emails myself or them to add items to the agenda. So, if there's something you wanted to add and now would be a time to to do that or to reach out. So, uh, any other discussion on that? All right. Um, we have a first and a second. Those all in favor, please say I. >> I. >>
Opposed? None. Motion carries. Uh, future agenda items, OE3, treatment of stakeholders. OE5, treatment of students, OE1, instructional program, and GP9 board member. Um, and that will be January 7th to 26. And then a regular board meeting will be the 14th uh Native American Heritage Month, Wise Academy annual report, uh present financial audits to the board and open enrollment space availability. And before we adjurnn, I just wanted to wish everyone here a happy and healthy holiday season. And I'll look for a motion to adjurnn. Got >> a first second. Those all in favor, please say I. >> I opposed. Motion carried. Have a good night. Thank you everyone. Transformation has arrived.
