Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Mayor Vancampen, school committee chairperson Hurley, members of the school committee, faculty, staff, students, and of course, our wonderful donors. Thank you for joining us this evening. [applause] This really is one of our most important and meaningful annual celebrations. It is a night of tradition and history. It is a night when we are joined

by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, institutions, and associations representing every facet of the Ever Public Schools and of course the city of Everett. It is a night that connects the past, the present, and the future. It is a night when Everett's generous folks and Everett's generations of folks unite to recognize our graduating seniors. It is a night that reminds us of the richness of our history and the brightness of our future. My thanks to our scholarship donors. Your gifts recognize the diverse successes of our students and acknowledge the immense promise they possess. These scholarships will spread far and wide as our students depart Everett High School and begin to take countless roads in pursuit of countless dreams. Collectively, as you heard, our donors are presenting more than $126,000 in scholarships to 77 very deserving students. In

addition to the literal value of that generosity, the scholarships signify loyalty and a pride in being from Everett, from living in Everett, from working and serving in Everett, and of course from being a product and or a part of the Ever Public Schools. My sincerest congratulations to the 2026 scholarship recipients. You have excelled across the various aspects of our great high school and all that it has to offer. From academics to athletics to the arts and theater to career and technical education. You have distinguished yourselves by your performance, your character, your dedication, and your varied contributions to Everett High School. You have been selected because you do meet the high standards of achievements set forth by the people and institutions who started and maintain the scholarships we awarding this evening. As superintendent, tonight means a

great deal to me. I know the people and families who are named in tonight's program, either personally or by well-earned reputation. Some of them I've known all my whole life here in Everett. Some of them knew my parents and my relatives. Some of them I see with regularity. Some I have the pleasure of seeing tonight and hopefully we'll have the chance to thank them again personally before the night is over. Others are no longer with us, but they live in our hearts and our memories in nights like this when we recall the thoughtful and selfless individuals who wish to be forever linked with Everett High School. Thank you again for being here on this very special evening as these incredibly talented and deserving students walk across this stage for the final time as members of

the class of 2026. Again, my sincerest thanks to everybody. [applause] Thank you, Superintendent Hart, for your kind words and your commitment to the success of Everett High School. At this time, I'd like to introduce Mayor Robert Vancampen to share a few words. >> Thank you, uh, Dr. Braa. Good evening everyone. I'm I'm sure you did not come here tonight to listen to the mayor, but uh I I did want to take this opportunity. I have so few opportunities to speak to the class of 2026 before they leave. And uh it's an honor for me to be able to speak to this distinguished group of students in the class of 2026. Um, tonight is about achievement, preservation, perseverance, and opportunity. Um, but most importantly, it is about our students, the remarkable young people seated on this

stage who have worked hard, overcome challenges, and earn the recognition we celebrate this evening. And I applaud you. Well, it has been said already, each scholarship awarded tonight represents far more than financial support. It represents confidence in your future. It reflects the belief that you have the talent, determination, and character to make a difference in this world. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. Your families who are here should be proud. Um this is partly their recognition as well for the work they've put in. Your teachers, counselors, coaches, and mentors should be proud as well. Success, you guys know, is never achieved alone. And tonight, we also recognize the folks in this auditorium and who may not be here who helped guide and support you along the way. I applaud them as well.

And I also I want to thank our scholarship sponsors um community organizations, businesses, and generous individuals who make these opportunities possible year after year. Your investment in our students is an investment in the future of the city of Everett. Your generosity opens doors and creates possibilities that will have an impact that will be lasting for generations to come. Everett has always been a city built on hard work, resilience, and community. Our students reflect those same values every single day. They are future teachers, nurses, engineers, artists, entrepreneurs, public servants, dare I say mayor, although I will talk you out of that, and leaders. They are the next chapter of this city's story. To the students, as you prepare for what comes next, whether it's college, trade school, military service, or entering the workforce, remember that success

is not measured by titles or accomplishments. Remember that it is measured by how you treat people, how you respond to adversity. And I assure you, there will be adversity in your life. and how you contribute to your community. There will be challenges ahead. There will be moments of uncertainty. But if your journey to this point has proven anything, it is that you are you are more than capable of overcoming obstacles and continuing to move forward. Never underestimate the value of hard work. Never stop learning. Superintendent Hart will tell you he has not stopped learning to this stage in life. Nor have I. and never forget where you came from. Everett will always be proud of you and we will always be rooting for your success. Congratulations again to uh all the students. Thank you very

much for having me. Thank you, Mayor Vancampen, for your kind words. So, it's a mentor program where um a teacher may be set up with one or two students to mentor and they just check in to build positive relationships to help with attendance. >> And I might add that we are using that model in several of our K through8 buildings. Um, and as I've reported to you in the past, our attendance rate and our chronic absenteeism have both dramatically improved. These are one of those initiatives that we believe are contributing to that success and it's been very successful here at Ever High School. >> Miss Beepka, >> I actually have one more question. I put a little star next to it and that was about the Goblin AI math tutoring because you know math everybody could always use a second set

of eyes. How does that that that Goblin AI tutoring work? >> Yeah. So, it's a new program that we started. Mr. Babino is not with us tonight, but essentially what it is, it's just access to a tutor through an application, and you can download the Goblin application. You can ask it different questions to support you in um completing the math work. >> Have any of the students here used the Goblin AI at all? >> No. >> I'd love to know how that works. That's interesting. >> We could definitely get you some more information on that. >> It's okay. count, you know, like I I mean I could have used a math tutor back in the day. >> So it sounds very interesting. So thank you. >> Thank you, Miss Babcock. Any further questions or comments?

>> Mr. Mayor, >> I just make one just one quick comment. Thank you all very much for the presentation and the superintendent knows this cuz we have this conversation almost daily but um watching each of you come to the table present your respective departments uh I think we're all feeling a great sense of pride that our high school is producing and I look at student representative Emma Perry to my left um and all of you that we're producing such incredibly talented gifted young people uh and the future is bright. So, thank you very much for the presentation. >> Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I appreciate your time to come up and present to us. Thank you very much. It's not easy to stand there with the microphone and speak in front of a public body, but

you did fantastic. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us tonight. >> Make a motion to dismiss our guests with the greatest thanks. >> Second. >> Motion has been made by Miss Babcock, seconded by Mr. Mayor to excuse our guests with the customary thanks. All those in favor? All those opposed. The eyes have it. Motion passed. Thank you very much. >> I would [applause] >> Could we entertain a motion to return to the regular order of business? >> I'll make a motion to return uh the agenda to the regular order of business. >> Second. >> Motion has been made by Mr. Barrow, seconded by Miss Cornelio to return to the regular order of business. All those in favor? >> All those opposed? The eyes have it. Motion passed. Superintendent, the next order of business. >>

Returning back to the regular order of business under I Roman numeral six, item number one, the superintendent's update. Um, thank you everybody. Um, we have a lot of actions and activities happening both this past week and the week ahead. And as you heard Miss Perry report, and I'll be repeating some of the items that she mentioned, we have graduation um this coming Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. This, of course, is our our huge acknowledgement of the talent, as the mayor put, of our our Ever High School students. Over 560 students will walk across the stage that evening, and I understand the weather is going to be great. So, we're happy for that. So, I look forward to all of the members of the school committee and the members of city government

to join me on the stage Wednesday evening as we congratulate and confer the high school diploma on all those students. We ask everybody to come by 5:45 at the latest so the procession can begin. Also this week on the 4th which is Thursday evening we will hold the third strategic planning meeting. Uh it's the second meeting of the external stakeholders along with our internal folks and that'll be he held here at Ever High School from 4 to 7 and at the conclusion of the six meetings we will come up with a three-year strategic plan as I've mentioned to you all before in which uh we will try to follow up based on feedback from the community industry folks and others internally to determine some of our best next steps to take to move our district

um further uh down the road. I appreciate the support from our community as well as the internal community. And our next school committee meeting would be uh Monday, June the 15th before we take our short hiatus for the summer break. Today, uh Monday, June 1st, we held the fifth annual Pride Raising flag here at Everett High School in the front of our building. And we uh want to thank as a community the folks who come forward and plan this event for us. Certainly the leaders of that group uh did an enormous amount of planning uh Mr. Sean Salazar, Mr. Mark Lent, and our library coordinator Mary Pulio for hosting the event and making sure that everybody um was aware of the good things that are happening here at Everett High School and beyond in our

greater community. I'd also like to thank the members of the school committee who joined me today and along with staff and other students who came out to um support our LGBTQ plus community. Uh last week we held a scholarship night. As Miss Perry mentioned, 77 students received 134 scholarships totaling over $126,000. And that is um so wonderful because members of our community provide these scholarships for our students who excel in so many areas across academic disciplines and community involvement. And we had an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge them in front of family and friends. I want to thank of course the members of the school committee who joined me that evening and mayor Vancamp and chairperson Hurley, Miss Babcock, Miss Garren um and all the central administration who were there to cheer our students on

um and wish them the best. We also had um two of our scholarships that are given out annually were in recognition and in memory of former school committee members that served this great bo body uh Mr. Robert Carrero and Mr. Alan Panaresi. 56 juniors and sen s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s seniors were also inducted into the ever high school's honor society as well. Last Thursday was a busy day. In the morning, we held the first of its kind a joint direct admissions partnership with Worcester State University. This is a process in which our students will have direct admission to Worcester State

University across a multitude of disciplines. Uh as long as they receive or have a 2.5 weighted GPA in their junior year going into their senior year, they will be accepted into Worcester State into the programs of uh with a couple of exceptions. Uh they'll have preference on housing. As you know, many of the issues um with college admission isn't just being admitted. It's all those other things that often are obstacles to our students actually attending some of these fine universities. So, they'll wave the admission uh processing fee. They'll wave um other requirements and they'll, as I said, give preference to housing if our our ever high school students choose to accept that. We're working on other um higher ed partnerships to give our students every possible choice um without really any delay or any obstacles

to that. So, it was the first of its kind for Worcester State, first of its kind for Everett, and I think good things will come of that relationship as we build upon with other um higher ed institutions across uh Massachusetts. As two people mentioned earlier, Dr. Anna Sidus, who's a member of our science department, was the recipient of the Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year Award. She did not know she was receiving it. She was at a conference. the lieutenant governor um provided her with the award. And Dr. Ciders, would you wave because Dr. Citus is back there [applause] [applause] with the award and the recognition that she so welld deserves. U she receives $5,000 to bring back here to Everett High School and to support the work in her department. And Miss uh Dr.

Situs has been with us since 2011 and has a very engaging um class and classes and students just love being a part of them and she's done so many kind of career um sign significant uh events in her tenure here and I want to personally acknowledge the great work that she puts in each and every day. We don't need this award to know that she is a good teacher of the year forever. Thank you again Dr. Citus. [applause] another event on last Thursday. It was a very busy day. We hosted the um Everett High School path uh education pathway and it's a signing day of sorts just like a lot of the sport we do with sports teams. And we um uh acknowledge our students who are in the education pathway who are hoping to

go on to become teachers. And I also wanted to thank our two wonderful teachers who put this together, Sarah Simmons and Amanda Picowitz. um they do a wonderful job at acknowledging the students and members of the students family attend and uh Dr. Brager and the members of the administrative team uh were joined by our our school uh member uh school committee member Miss Babcock to acknowledge and congratulate those young students as they go off to college and to uh hopefully become a teacher. we do give them a little boost and say if you finish your degree you're going to come back and teach at Ever High School or one of our great schools. Uh once again a congratulations to the Ever High School Crimson Tide Marching Band per for performing in the Freedom 250 National

Memorial Day parade this past Monday, May the 25th. Our band was the first band in the parade after the um US Army bands. This is a huge distinction. We have been invited in the past as many of you know and um Mr. O'Brien is back there and Mr. O'Brien. It was a stellar showing for Everett in their beautiful new uniforms, the great form, the great performance, the stamina marching along. Um it's a credit to all of the people that put that program together under your leadership and I want to thank you and acknowledge you here for doing such a great job with that. [applause] We had a job fair at the uh I'm going to skip one. I'm going to We had Steve Pulio here who was um an author and he was uh talking

with our students. He was an award-winning newspaper reporter and history professor. Uh Mr. Pulio is the author of eight books and he came uh here to Everett High School and I want to thank also John Flannry. I think I saw John here earlier for scheduling this visit. Um he's Mr. Julio's been here before and we certainly hope it won't be his last. Students are very engaged when a person of this caliber, an author of this caliber comes. They get to meet them, talk with them, and find out what really um makes uh them write the work that they write. Lafayette School had a job fair on Friday, May the 22nd. Uh grade 8 math teacher Mackenzie Dao hosted this career day for seventh and eighth grade students. 16 professionals from a wide range of industries

shared stories of their career journeys and offered valuable insights into their paths to success. Students asked engaging questions and they learned about various professions from healthcare and engineering to the arts and to business. I know that the students were quite frankly taken back by some of the folks that were uh there as professionals because they got to ask them real time questions and get an answer. And I think it inspired a few of our students or more than a few I should say to consider a path um towards one of those professions. We're also seeking um applications for our summer acceleration academy. As you know we have runmies in vacations and certainly in summer and this is to support our student learning initiatives. And while we invite people to participate we also um invite those

that we think will have the most benefit from an academy. And as you'll hear down the road, we have um test scores to prove that it's working. With all the other initiatives that are happening, as you've heard me report in the past, it does add up. And each of thesemies, each of these specialty things that we do in our classroom, the coaching that we offer our teachers, the support that we provide our students, the extras that we give each and every day really do make a difference. and we are really on our way to uh another great year at Everett. Um with test scores going up, we got some preliminary scores today on MCCAST. Things are going very well and when those are finalized, I'll be able to report them out publicly to all of

you and we can thank our teaching staff and support staff are doing all the work that they do. Um under the direction of Dr. Chris Ban who's a teacher here at Everett High School. Pathway students visited the Chimera Therapeutics in Watertown. On Wednesday the 27th, this is a biioharmaceutical company focused on developing medicines for diseases that are typically difficult to treat. The students tooured the labs and were exposed to highly skilled work. I shouldn't probably use the word exposed. It sounds in a lab that doesn't sound so good. Uh to the highly skilled workforce that scientists do every day. and they got to uh see firsthand um this in action that these are real life experiences that our students get to be part of. And that in and of itself is a huge advantage um

because they get to see what they may have read about what one of our wonderful faculty may have taught them. Now they get to see it um being applied in the workforce. And finally, a huge congratulations to Everett High School senior Kahan Eveard for winning the 2026 Division 2 state outdoor dra championship in the 400 meters this past weekend at Marramac College. He also finished second in the 200 meeting 200 meetings running at 22.4 which breaks his own personal record. uh lots of students uh participated but I wanted to shout out to uh Kan for his wonderful performance and with that uh members of the school committee that is my uh update for this evening. >> Thank you superintendent. Any questions or comments for the superintendent? >> Miss Babcock. >> So the relay also did

really well. The 4x1 relay the girls and the boys both placed in the top seven or top eight as well for track. I like it's awesome. >> Um I wanted to talk about the education signing. I think it's a wonderful opportunity. There's quite a few students that were at the education signing that have are going to go and very interested in early education and and um you know K through say uh five or six or um our preschool level which is wonderful because coming back to give to your own community as an educator is huge. Um, and I wanted to say they talked about the CTE programs and I couldn't talk about every pathway, but the education pathway gives the students an opportunity to do um, practicums in the schools and to work with the

with our students and that's a wonderful exposure to like real life experiences. I we I know we couldn't talk about every CTE program, but I know that, you know, as a future educator and doing practicums myself, um getting to be in the classroom with the students is where you really start to grow the love of wanting to be a teacher. So, I think that that's awesome that we uh have that signing day and that we give these students that opportunity. >> Some of the items that I mentioned this evening are also in front of you on your district highlights um documents. So, if you want to see some photos, you can see that. We do put a lot of these on our website so that folks at home could uh view what some of the

items that I've been mentioning this evening. >> Thank you, Superintendent. Thank you, Miss Babcock. >> Yes, >> Mr. Barrows. >> Thank you, Madam Chair. I just want to commend the superintendent and his team for this partnership with Woolar State uh University. It is a great uh university, a great initiative. uh the whole initiative of easing the way for students to attend a university. Um it is it is uh to be commended. So thank you for your leadership doing this. Um and >> I believe you're working on others. Uh so not going to do any breaking news. >> Well, I'm not the only one. I' um I'd like to give a kudos also to assistant superintendent Dennis Lynch who um helped nail all the details down once we had our first initial meeting 7 months ago,

Mr. Lynch and um he kept on it until we got to the point we were able to sign something officially. So thank you. >> This is a huge deal and just want to thank you Mr. Lynch and everyone involved in this successful process. >> Thank you Mr. Barrows. Any further questions or comments? >> We entertain a motion to accept the report of the superintendent. >> Second. >> So moved by Miss Cristiano, seconded by Mr. Barrows to accept the report of the superintendent. All those in favor? >> All those opposed? The eyes have it. Motion passed. Superintendent's next order of business. >> Item number three is the acceptance of the Ever Public Schools district wellness policy. I'm requesting favorable action, but um I know that it's you got some material in your packet. Uh the well

health and wellness coordinator Julianne Witson is with us this evening and we have um with her committee developed a policy that meets the needs of our students and also excuse me acknowledges all desi and federal guidelines and with your permission I think it may be nice for uh Miss Witson to come forward and just point out a couple of changes not a lot change but enough that I think um Miss Witson um I asked her to come this evening in case she had a specific question but certainly to point about um the changes uh or the enhancements I should say in the wellness policy that you as a school committee would uh accept this evening. >> I'd like to make a motion to >> second. Motion has been made by Miss Cristiano, seconded by Miss

Babcock to invite Miss Witson before us. All those in favor? >> All those opposed? The eyes have it. The motion has passed. Welcome. Good evening. Thanks for having me. Um, so I'm here to answer any questions you have, but I just wanted to mention that um, federal law requires that any district participating um, in the school mail program conduct a triannual assessment of our wellness policy. Um, and we did that this year. That was one of our biggest goals and subsequently we are required to make revisions to the wellness policy accordingly. Um so what we did um Miss Turner um the athletic director and I worked together to look at the strength of our wellness policy as well as how well we imp implement it against you know implementation. Um and it was overwhelmingly positive.

Um it was pretty strong already and we do a lot of really great things but we wanted to make some adjustments or we should have made some adjustments. For example, there are a lot of things we were doing that weren't specifically codified in our policy. So, we wanted to make sure we got those in there. Um, and we al also wanted to add some language in terms of monitoring and accountability, which we did. And then when we looked at it, we also noticed that there were some areas where we could improve. For example, staff wellness. Um, we are already supporting our staff a lot, but there's more that we can do. So, we we did this assessment. We brought it to the wellness committee. The committee consists of 25 members of the school in the

community, lots of community agencies. We have parent representation as well as student representation. Um they looked at it, they made some suggestions and we made those edits and we're really excited about it. So I hope you enjoyed reading it and I'm happy to answer any questions you have. I think the involvement um uh of the external community which includes Cambridge Health Alliance social emotional department here I mean it's not just um a simple review and um Miss Witson is downplaying the significance of her role in this process conducting meetings on a regular basis and walking through some of the items that she had to deal with. um it was really not always an easy feat and she always pulled the group together and really got down to the work that needed to be done and

surveying staff, talking to people outside the committee. So I I want to acknowledge your work, Miss Witson, because it was no small feat, but this policy um continues to evolve and I know that there's already an aggressive agenda planned for our next school year. We had a meeting just this past week to make sure that what we sent the school committee was something that we believe is appropriate and complete. But there are more things that we will look at in the next school year cycle with the committee. And again, 25 people come together on a regular basis to look at um line by line in many cases was um no easy task. So again, thank you Miss Witson and to the entire uh group with Miss Turner and uh so many of others other others

who joined her. There any questions for Miss Witz? >> Thank you for the overview. Yes. Are there any questions? Mr. Barrows, >> thank you. Uh, thank you, Superintendent, and thank you you and your team and the whole team for putting this this together. Uh, I've read it and the only question that I have, which I I might know the answer, but the 20 minutes lunchtime, which is 20 minutes definitely not enough. um is that so my question which I believe I know the answer is with the number of students that we have in this building with the overcrowded that that we have is just really not possible to have more than 20 minutes in order to have everyone eating and moving the cafeteria and moving bringing kids in kids out is that correct >> right

I you know I I think everyone on the committee we always come back to that one how can we get more time for lunch or more seat time and and I will say that Witson's does an excellent job keeping the line moving. So, as soon as students get into the cafeteria, they can get their food very quickly. So, they can actually be sitting down eating, but it's difficult with time on learning and the number of students we have, especially in this building, but it comes up every single year at our wellness committee. And you know, the policy and you know, our practices are living and breathing and we will always look at them and change them whenever possible, but we're doing the best we can. right now. I I mean, I'm not a school principal,

but you know, I know what we always come back to. They're doing the best they can, and I think they do a really good job getting the students to their seats so they can enjoy lunch. >> Yeah, definitely. I mean, they I' I've seen it. They do a great job. Um, but 20 minutes is really not enough. I mean, it's not your fault or fault of the committee that put this together, but it is something for all of us to keep in mind. Uh, overcrowded continue to be a huge issue here. And if you have kids eating for 20 minutes, uh again, not not on you or the team that put that put this together, >> but 20 minutes, you are like trying to swallow a sandwich or or food in order to rush because

there's another group coming together. Uh where is the mayor? >> Perfect timing. Mr. Mayor, we are talking about 20 minutes meal. Uh and my question to her was um why 20 minutes which I knew the answer because of the number of kids that we have in this building. Uh so overcrowded continue to be a huge issue. That's why kids have only 20 minutes to eat because of the number of kids that we have in this building. I'm not putting you a spot. I'm just saying that this is an issue that persists in in the average public schools and it's affecting even the >> Yes. I'd hate to see when you do put me on the spot though. >> No pressure. I mean it's not an issue that you will resolve by yourself but it is

an issue as you know well that really needs to be addressed because 200 minutes definitely not enough time. Thank you so much you and the whole team for putting this together. The cafeteria committee also had met uh a month or so ago uh also to look at the Witson side of the equation to see if they could enhance the way they served um whether it's a new food cart or I know that they're looking at different options for lunch including a salad bar to help move the folks along. So you're right, we are space constrained, but we're asking within that space of here at Ever High School in particular, can we have some remote sites, if you will, around the cafeteria to to speed up the process of kids getting a food choice that's healthy,

consistent with the policy and get them enough seat time to enjoy it. But um you're right, we're still constrained. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. Well, >> thank you, Mr. Barrows. Miss Babcock, >> yes. Uh, one of the things that I thought was really great, it is a very comprehensive and it has very clear goals. It's well presented. And one of the things I wanted to ask about was um 4.3, which is food system education, local food access and experiential learning. And um, and these sound amazing things like gardening activities, taste tests, food samples. Um, I know that we used to have a community garden in front of um, the previous high school. And I and I know that for the kids they would walk past and they would see the fruits and the vegetables growing

outside. Um and that kind of you know those kind of activities are really important. So I guess I wanted to ask you to give us an example of one that you've already implemented from here or are these future goals? >> They're future goals but actually Witson's does already um do some farm-to-table um offerings. So they're working with local growers to offer local food for us. Um so they're already doing that. It's definitely a future initiative that we're interested in implementing. And but we actually did have a garden here at this high school. Um I dug it back in maybe 2010 or 2011, right? Um when you walk in on the fourth floor, um Mr. Chang um was in charge of that garden for many years and it was great. Um so maybe we can do

something like that again. But that's definitely one of the areas of growth that we found. I I think it's important because believe it or you know I think that when you are dealing with a place where people may be pinched socioeconomically and fresh fruits and vegetables may not always end up on the table. Kids may not always know about healthy options or even get to you know experience the diversity of fruits and vegetables that we have. [clears throat] So, it's, you know, having like gardens available and places to garden or I love the I love the taste test idea like when kids are little, you know, you have to have them try the no thank you helping, >> you know, to try diverse foods. So, these are goals for the future, educational goals and experimental

learning. So, >> Exactly. That's perfect. >> And I look forward to coming back next year and sharing what we've done. >> Yeah. I I look forward to hearing it. If you do the taste testing, [laughter] we wouldn't be adverse to that. >> So, I'm requesting favorable action on the revised wellness policy as presented. >> Favorable action. >> I think we have one more. Thank you, Miss Pepcock. Miss Cardillo. >> Thank you, Madam Chair. I just want to say that recently I ate in the cafeteria and I felt that this in fact I've eaten like three of the schools this this school season and I honestly have to say I see the flow of things getting better. I don't know if people are just getting used to it, but it is true. When you come up

to the high school, I mean, it's such a mob, but things flow nicely. The way it's set up from the outside of the cafeteria all the way through, it all makes sense. And fortunately, >> our students don't have to pay for lunch because if they ever did, I can't even imagine how much longer it would take. We'd have to add a half hour onto the school day. So, we're very fortunate in that respect that we can save time with that. But I have noticed vast improvements even in the food, the food taste, the quality because I've had my complaints in the past. But I honestly feel like we we've come a long way with this and everything can always be improved. So, and I know that. But thank you. Thank you for letting this whole

charge and I think everything's going well. Thanks. >> Thank you, Miss Cardillo. Before we move forward with a motion um for the wellness policy, could is there a motion to excuse our guest? >> Motion to excuse our guest. >> Motion has been made by Miss Cornelio, seconded by Miss Babcock to excuse our guest. All those in favor? All those opposed? The eyes have it. Motion passed. Thank you very much for being here tonight. >> Thank you. >> Could we entertain a motion for the acceptance of the Ever Public Schools district wellness policy? >> So move. >> Second. So moved by Mr. Barrow, seconded by Mr. Mayor to accept the Ever Public Schools district wellness policy. We will roll call that. >> Mr. Almeida Barrows, >> yes. >> Miss Babco, >> yes. >> Miss Cardell, >>

yes. >> Miss Cornelio, >> yes. >> Miss Cristiano, >> yes. >> Mr. Denafhrio, >> yes. >> Miss Garren, >> yes. >> Mr. Lmonica, >> yes. >> Mayor Vancamp, >> yes. >> Madame Chair, >> yes. >> So move 100. Motion pass. Superintendent, the next order of business. >> Item number four is to request approval, albeit a day before, for late entry tomorrow, uh, June the 2nd and June the 3rd for grades 10 and 11 students. Um, this is to accommodate uh, MCCAST testing. Seniors have already, of course, finished and are not in the building, but this will be uh, for grades 10 and 11 only. >> Favorable action. >> Thank you. >> Second the motion. Motion has been made by Miss Bpock, seconded by Mayor Vancampen to um approve the late entry for Everett High School

grades 10 and 11 students on June 2nd, 2026 and June 3rd, 2026 to accommodate MCCAST testing. Roll call. >> Mr. Deliveros, >> yes. >> Miss Babcock, >> yes. >> Miss Cardelloo, >> yes. >> Miss Cornelio, >> yes. >> Miss Cristiano, >> yes. >> Mr. Denafhrio, >> yes. >> Miss Garren, >> yes. >> Mr. Lam Monica. >> Yes. >> Mayor Vancampen. >> Yes. >> Madam Chair. >> Yes. >> So move 100. Motion passed. Superintendent. The next order of business. >> Item number five is the acceptance of a title 3 part A immigration, excuse me, immigrant, children, and youth grant in the amount of $65,831. I'm asking for your favorable uh consideration. The district did receive this federal grant to support a five-week summer program here at Ever High School for immigrant students entering in grades 9

through 12 focused on intensive English language arts and mathematic instruction. >> Make a motion to accept the grant in the uh for the um immigrant children and youth grant in the amount of $65,831. >> Second. Motion has been made by Miss Cornelio, seconded by Miss Papco to accept the title 3 part A immigrant children and youth grant in the amount of $65,831. Roll call. >> Mr. Almeidaros, >> yes. >> Miss Babco, >> yes. >> Miss Cardelloo, >> yes. >> Miss Cornelio, >> yes. >> Miss Cristiano, >> yes. >> Mr. Denafhrio, >> yes. >> Miss Garren, >> yes. >> Mr. Lmonica, >> yes. >> Mayor Vancampen, >> yes. >> Madam Chair, >> yes. >> So move 10. Motion pass. superintendent, the next order of business. >> Just a quick shout out on these grants. I mean,

we've been very successful in receiving them, but that's not because of some hard work that hasn't already gone into it, some um proof that we can do the work. Sometimes it's a continuation grant. So, there's multiple uh groups of staff that do this on a regular basis, reviewing opportunities, do we think we're eligible, and then writing to the grant. So, I also want to do a big shout out to all the teams out there that do this and bring these dollars into Everett. Uh, and I appreciate their work. Uh, Roman numeral 7 is a item submitted by school committee members and madam chair, there are none. Roman numeral 8 are subcommittee reports on finance and negotiations for Monday, May the 18th. >> Madam Chairman, I'd like to accept uh wave the reading and accept the

finance and negation negotiation subcommittee May May 18th. Motion has been made by Miss Cristiano, seconded by Miss Babcock to accept the finance negotiation subcommittee um report from Monday, May 18th, 2026. Wave the reading in place on file. All those in favor. >> All those opposed. The eyes have it. Motion passed. Superintendent's next order. >> Roman numeral 9 bills and payroll. Madam Chairman, I'd like to submit bills and payroll in the amount of 2,271,98940. >> Motion has been made. >> Second. >> Motion has been made by Miss Cristiano, seconded by Mr. Barrows to submit bills and payroll in the amount of 2,271,98940. I didn't feel as though this was appropriate to put on the agenda, but I would like to take a moment to recognize the outstanding class of 2026 seniors who are with us this evening. Um, first I would like to acknowledge our senior TV crew members who are here with us. They're in front of the camera today. [applause] Thank you for being on this side of the lens this evening. Um, if I may, um, let's go in order. Um, Jonathan has joined the crew during his junior year and quickly became an integral part of our productions. He has excelled

in every role he has taken on and has consistently stepped up whenever and wherever he was needed. His reliability, versatility, and commitment has made a lasting impact on our production team. Jonathan, give a little wave. Thank you. Next [applause] up is Next up is Vestin, who has joined the crew during his junior year and brought a well-rounded skill set that strengthened every production he was part of. He became the go-to director and continually embraced opportunities to grow, learn, and challenge himself. His leadership and willingness to take on new responsibilities have been instrumental to the success of the production crew. >> [applause] >> a little. >> Next we have Maria. Hello Maria. Who um joined us as a junior as well. Maria has shined in every role bringing forth a can do attitude and all the

production needs every meeting. She's also a bright and smiling face and welcoming every single time. Every single time a member enters the room. She's always smiling and greeting everybody and a real warmth to the room. Thank you. [applause] Next, we have Miguel, who has joined us this year as a senior and made an immediate impression, drawing on his strong background in photography. He quickly adapted to the world of video production and became a valuable contributor. Beyond his technical abilities, Miguel's positive attitude and enthusiasm have brought great energy to the crew. Thank you very much. [applause] Um, missing tonight we have Amanda who joined the TV crew again as a junior and quickly made her presence felt in a variety of ways. Every aspect of the job came natural to her and she always showed an

eagerness to learn more. Um, I can confidently say that our productions and meetings run as smoothly as they do because of the dedication, hard work, and professionalism these students bring to everything that they do. They have set a tremendous example for those who will follow in their footsteps. Um, on behalf of the school committee, we are grateful for the contributions you have made and the legacy you leave behind. Whatever comes next, you carry with you our admiration, support, and best wishes. We look forward to seeing all that you will achieve in the years ahead. Congratulations and thank you very much. [applause] Before we conclude, if you can indulge me one more time, I would like to take a moment to recognize our student representative, Emma Perry, who will graduate also on Wednesday. Okay, I can't

look at Robin. [laughter] Emma's [snorts] commitment to service and leadership began long before she joined us at this table. In 8th grade, she was selected as a Project 351 ambassador, an early indication of the dedication to community engagement that would define her high school career. Throughout her time at Ever High School, Emma has embraced every opportunity to lead, serve, and excel. She has served as class treasurer since her sophomore year, held leadership roles in the [clears throat] key in the key club, participated in numerous student organizations, and distinguished herself as a student athlete. Academically, she has maintained an outstanding 4.4 GPA, earned membership in both the National Honor Society and National Latin Society, and will graduate with honors recognition. Outside of school, Emma has pursu pursued her passion for dance since she was 14 months

old, earning regional and national recognition for her achievements through the years and recently has been inducted into the National Honor Society of Dance Arts. As impressive as her accomplishments are accomplishments are, what has stood out most during her time as student rep has been her professionalism, her preparation, positivity, and genuine commitment to representing her peers. Emmer, I'm adding an R. I'm so sorry. Emma consistently ensured that the student voice was present in our discussions and she approached this responsibility and with thoughtfulness, maturity, and enthusiasm. And I have been told that since her freshman year, her goal was to serve as school committee student representative. Having worked alongside her this year, I can confidently say she exceeded every single expectation. She has been an exceptional representative for the students of Ever Public Schools and a valued

member of our committee. On behalf of the school committee, thank you, Emma, for your service, leadership, and dedication. We are grateful for the time, energy, and insight you brought to every meeting, and on occasion for delivering reports that may have rivaled those of the superintendent. As you begin your next chapter at Hofra University, we know you will continue to achieve great things and make a positive impact on those around you. Congratulations, Emma. We are proud of you and we wish you all the best in the years ahead. And if you don't mind, a token of our appreciation. [applause] >> [applause] [cheering] >> Thank you. >> And I'm presenting Emma a cord that she should wear at graduation along with all her other cords that she has been an admirable member of this board. So, thank
