fully scheduled uh session of the Logan County Board of Education. Today is uh Tuesday, March 10th, 2026. It is 5:00 p.m. and we are meeting here in the Raph R. Willis Career Technical Center. Uh by my view all five members of the board are here and present and attending. At this time we'll ask everyone to please rise uh for the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence. I lead us tonight. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Please remain standing for a brief moment of silence. Thank you very much. You may be seated. Item number four on the agenda is communications. Uh no presentations tonight. Is that correct? >> All
right. So, there are no presentations. So, we'll move on to B, public speakers, and we've got looks like three people signed up to speak. Uh, the first will be Miss uh Rhonda Farley. Just to remind you, there's no uh back and forth between board members and and speakers. Uh you'll have five minutes to speak and your speaking time will begin once you start talking. >> Members of the board and community, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak again. Our schools operate on policy that are meant to protect students, staff, and the integrity of the educational environment. But policies only work when they are current, consistent, and aligned with state law. Right now, we are facing a serious problem. Many of our school policies are outdated and in some cases, individual administrators and appointed
individuals are relying on personal interpretations rather than established transparent procedures. The West Virginia State School Board has made it clear that outdated and ignored policies create a perfect condition for liability and confusion, which they failed to fix since they have been involved with Logan County the past few years. But they continue to emphasize that school policies must involve changes in legislation and legal decisions. When policies fall out of date, they stop being a safeguard and become a safety risk for staff, for students, and for county itself. I know this has just recently been given back to the local board to fix, and it may take some time, but we need to address personnel actions and employment first. We see we are seeing decisions ba made based on personal policy rather than documented board approved policy.
Even more concerning when staff ask for clarification, especially regarding issues on personnel actions, some individuals claim they are following the laws and their policy but cannot site or provide the relevant West Virginia statute. If we cannot reference the law or policy we claim to be calling, we are not operating responsibly. West Virginia Code Chapter 18A outlines the laws governing school personnel, including rights, responsibility, and procedures for employment actions. These laws are public, accessible, and meant to guide consistent decision-making. When administrators cannot point to the specific law behind their actions, it raises questions about whether these actions are grounded in statue or simply personal reference or preference. This is not about blame. It's about accountability and the need for a system that works. Staff deserve to know the rules that govern their employment. Students deserve a
school run with clarity and fairness. And the community deserves confidence that decisions are being made according to law, not according to happens to be in the office that day. Breath already. I'm asking the board to take three steps. Continue your full review of county policies, especially those related to personnel actions, employment, and administrative leave to ensure they are aligned with current West Virginia law. require personnel to site specific codes or board policy when making decisions that affect employment status. Provide accessessible, written guidance to staff, so no longer we have to rely on verbal interpretations or inconsistent explanations. Clear, updated policies protect everyone. They reduce liability, improve trust, ensure that our schools operate with professionalism and integrity. We owe it to our staff, our students, and to our community to do better. And if you don't
believe that personal policy and personal preference are influencing decisions, just look at recent events. Thank you. >> Thank you very much. >> Our next speaker is Goldie Belchure. Good evening. Um, I just have a few things that I wanted to talk about this evening. And the one that's been on my heart the most is, uh, I've been contacted several times by several different people within our community. Um it's been brought to my attention, my knowledge that by several people within the um the community that cameras, surveillance devices have been recently removed from several different places within the Chapmanville area board of education owned facilities, some of which I won't name all, concession stands, outdoor facilities, um certain um particular parts of other facility buildings on the inside and out. Um, Miss Y, if this is
true, um, which I'm, you know, this is when I was told, if this is true, I would like to know if did you give the orders for someone to deliver this message to those that it would affect or did this person take it upon themselves to sort of what I would call give a heads up to the others that could uh be brought into an active investigation since we uh seem to be targeting a one individual about this situation. Um couldn't that whether by your order or by the person's um just want to give that heads up, couldn't that be considered tampering with the potential evidence in an active investigation? Couldn't that be considered conspiracy? Um, couldn't that also be um considered impeding an investigation? Improper use of being a mandated reporter, bringing to uh
bring these other uh surveillance systems to take the forefront by uh bringing this information um to the people that may be involved or could potentially be brought into an investigation um to prove that this isn't an isolated situation. and to also prove that any of these surveillance systems would not be in my opinion and opinion of a lot of others anything that was meant to be put into place to do anything illegal. It was just to be brought in to update security because people have made reference to needing more security with on within the buildings with on the you know the outside of the building and it's not been taken care of if that falls on the board if that falls on administration or whatever. But from what I'm being told it was a um
individual that is employed by the board of education that made these sort of heads up which I think is pretty crappy. some people um that you think of, Miss White. Um I want to first of all give you a compliment, you've been thrown into a hornets's nest. You don't know this county and the people within it and how the history of it's been working. So I do feel like you are working digitly. some people that you think Miss White that talks um talk high of you in the aspect of um what you're doing and all of this in front of your face may not be doing that behind your back. So you need to uh re-evaluate why some of these people are doing their job duties um if that's their honest intent and reasoning for
which they do they perform at such a great level of performance. I'd also like to bring to your attention that some if not of all um that are giving you this praise feel or portray that in other ways when you're not around. Um the last thing I'd like to say Mr. Hardesty had um in the last couple of states board of education he had made a statement about keyboard warriors and not I want to paraphrase here because I don't want to get into anything but um he had made the comment about keyboard warriors and bringing out facts that are only 10% the truth. So I will end with a message to Mr. hardy since he's not here and I'm sure he'll read this or see this or however um if not I know several of
you on the board has his number you can take this tech I would gladly ask you to text this to him and my only message is three things to him gotcha exclamation point and a winky face >> our final speaker tonight is Miss Mary Mango Mangus I just have I want to know how and what we have to do to get an administrative or an executive meeting for um investigation into allegations against him former well he's technically still a coach his wife and his assistant coaches and I would like to know Why the school board is terminating employees when there are board members and board employees that are driving county vehicles and probably um gas cards that the county is paying for. It's not the county's responsibility to provide people a way to work. They
chose to take the job. They need to find their own way to get there. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Uh moving on to item number five, approval of minutes. Uh the minutes for the meeting of uh February 24th, 2026 been approved by the state. U that was a meeting that uh Dr. Pat White uh participated by phone. uh 2026 2027 school year calendar and uh we'll ask uh Mr. Eric Gellis to give us information on that. Each of you should have copy of the the proposed calendar to state that we sent out two calendars per vote and calendar being is overwhelmingly decided by all the employees of Logan County Schools for about a five to one margin. You take a look at the calendar, you see it's kind of laid out a lot like
the current calendar we're under. We've got five professional days there at the beginning of the year for teachers when they return on August 13. Students will return on August 20. Uh same day we started this year except it's a Thursday next year. I know overwhelmingly when we talk to to people in the schools, they prefer this this Thursday start. So it kind of gives you two days to to kind of get things going and and work out a lot of the worksheet at the beginning of the year. Plus those educators here can can kind of verify that when you start on a Monday, a five day week, those kids get it's kind of tough for the end of the week. So um you'll see the PL days uh listed kind of similar positions as last
year. We did make a a change on one of the PL days. this fall on Columbus Day this year, which is kind of a state holiday for long. That'll help with child care for some of the people. Uh election November the 3rd, we put an OS day in there before that. Try to kind of the committee tries try to do that in in some of these situations. I think this year we've got one in the May election, the OS day. Try to do that because those are high attendance miss days. If you've got a a Monday off or Tuesday off a month, Monday people take a long weekend. So that kind of cuts down on on attendance numbers. Uh four weeks for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas just like this year. Move into got the
the the professional meeting and OS days there usually in March. That kind of you have such a long grind between when you return from Christmas break to spring break. That kind of cuts that down a little bit. Give a little break even though it's just a week before spring break. uh spring break. What we did this year, I reached out to Lincoln County for their calendar contact and kind of got their proposed calendar when it's aligned. So, we align those >> those spring breaks the same this year. I know being a former administrator at Chapman Hill Regional and a lot of the hearts kids that kind of you have those families of hearts prek got kids in that school in our school and spring breaks being different was tough on them. So kind of remember
to reach out to them this year to do that. I know you appreciate that. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah. >> Um then you see last day of school will be June 4th. Graduation for all three schools will be May 28th. Like I said it's it's a lot like this year's calendar. And then I talk to Dr. White. We will apply for the NI days again next year. So we much appreciate that because we definitely used used them all this year. Yeah. Hopefully that's not the problem. >> Uh I have a question if you don't care. On March the 18th, there's a PM day. >> Yes. >> Can you explain what professional >> basically a professional meeting is what that stands for? It's just another professional development day. >> Oh, okay. All right. >> We actually
have one. >> I'm just not used to >> Next Thursday we have a >> Does that kind of that kind of correlate to the old faculty senate days? >> It Matter of fact, we said that this one. >> Thank you. >> Dr. White, do you have any other comments for the calendar? >> Uh, no. I know that you're probably watching the legislature and there is talk of a calendar bill that's moving along. I'm not sure of the final status of it because it the last few days. I know it was amended to go from 900 hours to a little over 950 hours. So that's the last I've heard, but that would not impact us until the uh 2728. >> All right. Thank you very much for that presentation. Uh we'll move on now to item
number seven, approval of action items. And for that, I will turn the floor over to Dr. White. >> Action items is we have some surplus transportation buses that we're selling. Uh there are on four of them and in those in the packet it's information about each of those buses. Uh they range from 2007 to 2013. So they're quite old and uh um Jason is pretty good about putting them on there's an auction site for school buses and he's pretty good about getting those sold and they're taken care of for us. So those are on there. Uh there's a an axon for parent volunteer. uh an out of state travel for Logan Elementary to go to a fourth grade class for their fourth grade trips to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, May 16th and 17th. Um
we have a salary schedule revision where we have some changes that is also attached to your um uh packet and um then we have policies um like I said uh you know I can tell you what's happened from November 1st to now and uh so we're working with Viola. Biola has always maintained their part of the agreement of giving us updates. Um, and so basically we're going through those updates and making sure our policies are current. I should point out that if a state law changes, we follow the state law until we get our policy updated. Um, the first there are three new policies and uh these are all on first reading. uh one is required portion of instruction is kind of a technical policy and then recently the legislaturator's added language about learning pods
and microschools and hope scholarship program and although we don't directly do those things there is some monitoring of the students who choose that education option that we're required to do so that's what our policies are reflecting um a lot of the f um basically what Neola is doing is they're going through our policies from the zeros to the the the 9,000 so I'm trying to pick about 30 at a time and just go through them. >> Most of these policies are technical changes, just some technical edits or some things to add the current uh state code in there. Um, these are all found on our website. Um, also have a book here if you're paper driven. I have a book with the current policy and the changes. So, if you don't mind, I'll just take
a second here to show you up on the TV where everyone, including the public, type my password in the right person. Uh, can view our policies. Um, so this is the Logan County Schools web page, and you see at the top here, it says policies. So, if we go there, um, what we've done is, um, this first link is bylaws and policies. So, this is where you can go to see the current policies that are on um available or or that are that are current current at this time. Now, um so, and you can see they're broken down. I'm sorry that doesn't get any bigger than that, but fix that in a minute, but uh I can't see. But anyway, um all of our policies are listed there. So, these each of these drop- down
menus go to um the policies and a brief thing brief description of them. Also, here at the top under the little tree um you could type in a search for a policy and find out exactly like if you want to talk about um uh electronic devices, you could type in electronic and it would it would show up there. So, um this is something that's also available. Um and that's that's where you find those. Now what we're what we have on this page again when we click on policies we have our policies on the first reading. So what I have here is these are the new policies we just talked about and then here's all the policy revisions and when you click on each of these policies. So if I pick um I'm trying to find
one that might have some major changes but uh I think it's let's try guidance and counseling. Um, so if we click on a policy, what happens is it shows up and in the policy there are two types of things. If it's a strike through, that means we're removing it from the policy. If it's underlined, that means it's an addition to the policy. And in many of these policies, it's just again adding some language that was added to recent legislation or it's they found a typing error or they changed May to shall things like that or those kinds of technical things. but they're all there uh for you to look at um and uh for the public to view in addition to having that link um for our policies on first reading and these are the
ones we're starting with and again um as the board directs we'll add more policies and uh continue to go through the ones that Niola has directed us to work on as well as um trying to get back to the main site um as well as any that you all wish us to take up um sooner. Um when again when we go to the policies page um there is a place for you it says click here to comment on policy. So, anyone may comment, the public uh can put the policy number, the title, and then give us comments and submit them. And uh as we get those comments, we'll work um with you all and you can look at those and decide any changes you want to make to the additional changes that we're making. But
this is we thought a good starting point of mola went through and found many policies that just need technical corrections, but I started at the top of the zeros and worked down to the two through the 2000. So your next group will be in the next batch and again any other policies that uh this board feels that need to be u go to the head of the line if you will to be looked at we'll be glad to do that for finances um if you have any questions about those policies again >> go ahead I'm sorry this would uh on item be under um approval. >> Mhm. >> I was going through the policies. Well, going through the various things, but there's uh there's a date that kind of struck out today on your uh
on the Logan County Board of Education salary schedule. >> Yes. >> It has a date that we haven't even got to yet. It said it it was revised 121 16 and shouldn't that be 2025? >> Okay. Um >> on the heading of the >> heading. >> Yes. >> Oh, okay. Yes, that should be 2025. >> Okay. >> I was looking at the bottom on the end. Okay. Fix that. >> Thank you. >> We will definitely fix that >> after we look at these and we get public comment. And let's say let's say there there's something that we want to consider change a little bit, >> right? Is that a change that we would refer back to Neola for legal on or what concerns me is you know before before we were took over we had
but we could council at any time >> and now I'm really not sure where we stand with that since the takeover and who who it's going to be and what >> well we do have we do have legal counsel we still do um we we have legal counsel through Mount State for our general things such as this um and we can certainly NEOA what they do is they kind of it serves as a way they take like for example as soon as this legislative session's over they're going to go through every education law they're going to look at all the policies and probably about May or June July they'll send us an update and say based on what changed in state policy during this legislative session these are the changes you probably should make your
policy to consider um as far as us if you know any of the and that's just NEOA's guidelines if we see something in there when they usually when they send us the change, we can say, "Yeah, we want that one. No, we don't want that one." Or we can put whatever we want in there. Now, if we do that, um, I would certainly run that by our legal team. >> That's not >> And that was just a question for me. I didn't know how that would >> Yeah. Anytime we we look at a policy, make changes, yeah, we run it by >> because I know you if you would alter something, you would definitely want to refuse. Yes. nostalgia before making >> did that quite a bit. So, >> okay. >> I ask you a
question about that. >> Um, so we have, you know, these comments and again any of these policies, but these weren't anything significant. I do have, you know, you want a hard copy to look at, I made a notebook of those with the original and that and highlighted um in addition to what you can see online. But we we're trying to get those as transparent to get those as quickly as we can. Any questions about policies. What'll happen is the next meeting we'll go to the second reading. Okay. >> And if we have comments, I'll I'll share that. We um typically um what what I did department is anytime we had a policy and there were comments, we responded to every comment like not to that person directly, but we made a comment bar, >> right?
and that uh instead of well you know either took the comment made the change or or you know put an explanation why it might not have been appropriate or whatever just depending on it just depended on the policy really and we can certainly do that and then on the third reading have sign the policy those two finance we have supplements that are listed there and some budget transfers um and the detail financial report is also found in here. Uh invoices, county invoices, $794,42051. CARES funding, we didn't spend any of that. I think there's only about $2,000 left from that. Uh CTE career educ technical education, $36,753.7. Um this time of year, a lot of our CTA CTE programs are ordering their materials for the next school year. So that part of that food service of
$4,578 IASA $42,243.15 permanent improvements $25,215.15 and fee card purchases $7,19261. Um and again all these invoices are available for review at the central office and uh you can have direct inquiries to Ronda justice and their extension and number are listed there. uh personnel, we've uh employed 11 professional personnel. Um for athletics, we've employed another 10 for various positions. Uh we had two name corrections from last uh month's agenda. Uh medical leave and resignations were there and then a transfer for service personnel. We hired employee 12 new people. Many of these are substitute aids and secretaries. So, we're glad that we're starting to build our sub pool back up. Um, we have a resignation and some transfers there as well. Um, now finally, the superintendent report. Um, I'm going to start with some good news and
then I have a few comments. Um, our good news is the social the uh regional social studies fair was last week. I think it was last week. get my weeks of ran together with some other on. But the great news is we had 15 students who placed first at the regional social study fair and they're going on to the state social studies fair all in a few weeks. So real proud of them and they're from all over the county. So um our county would be well represented. 15 is a great number. Um in my previous position I always opened up the state social studies fair and I remember going around talking to the kids. they're practicing their speeches and Logan County kids were always sweet to talk to when I did that work as well.
Um, some other things that uh I wanted to mention is um uh Logan Elementary School. We had a very smooth opening. Uh we had a great open house Tuesday night. Uh Marshall Health came down with their their bust with things about you know kids because it's it's traumatic to have school catch fire. So they were there with certain things to help parents in their kids code. We had an open house. Marco was there as well. Um but the parents came through were able to see the students classrooms, their teachers, and where they're going to be. Um Wednesday morning, uh the teachers were there early and ready for the elementary students to come back. I've never uh seen a smoother drop off line and bus line on the first day of school than I did that
day. And uh the kids and uh everyone seems to be adjusting well. uh we haven't had too many hiccups and uh we're just I'm just again I can't thank central office the staff the the everyone u the maintenance people the transportation people the teachers especially and the principles at those schools they just went above and beyond to get everything done in addition to um the uh the community outpouring I mean we are today I mean we are getting calls daily is like thank you uh and we have uh people sending books. We had over 6,000 books from one lady who put something viral on Facebook that were delivered. Um we had a school in in one in Ohio that had damaged their building last year and they wanted to help out and it's just across
the river from Huntington and they sent us I think a Walmart gift card or it's a Walmart gift card or something they collected or going to send for the teachers. Um just so many uh every time continuing to work with the insurance company to see what's next. Uh that that's the not fun part because you know you have to go through a lot of things with that. We're all working our way through it and uh as we know more about what needs to be repaired and and that sort of thing and the cost we'll we'll let you know. Um and uh finally um it is personnel season. We talked about that in our last meeting and uh the last few weeks we've been going around uh you know uh I feel it's very important if
I'm going to give someone bad news and transfer to do it in person. So we've been going around to the schools but I still have a few more left to do. We don't have to finish up this week. Um but during this time I've I've received uh emails from students about please don't take my teacher job or things like that. And I first of all I want to publicly commend the students for being involved in their civic. Um but I also wanted to take some time to explain some things to them about the uniqueness of the personnel laws in the state. And I just wanted to just kind of give you a little more information about personnel season to add on to what I did the other day. So after we received these riff the
teachers and and aids and service personnel received the riff transfer letters. This is the following sequence that takes place. I have a copy of this for you all. um employees have first of all they have the right to request a hearing with the board regarding the rift transfer or elim rift transfer or elimination of their position now because we're under state control that would be with the designate from uh the department and and you know we're scheduling those as they come in and we'll let you know when they're going to be tenatively we'll may have the week before spring break the week after spring break just depending on how many we receive um they have to give that request in writing to the personnel office within 10 days of receipt of the letter and Again,
we're scheduling those hearings tenatively in the week of March 23rd and April 6th. And again, I already said Superintendent or her designated be person who those requests. Um then after the hearings are complete, the personnel director informs the transferred employees and of their new assignments. Uh these are based on seniority and certification and not on the current assignment. So if I'm just going to use myself as an example, maybe I was the high school chemistry teacher, but I have certification in chemistry and mathematics. So I would get below whoever is the least senior if they were math or chemistry, even though I was teaching chemistry that year, that would be where I would be placed. So they are placed there and it's not based on their current assignment. Look at their seniority and their certification.
Now these transferred employees may accept that new assignment. they may say great I want to go to that school I want to teach that subject or they can bid on on other positions that are available in the district now production and force employees those are the ones who lose their you know who we don't have a job for next year now um they are all placed on a preferred call back list and they are allowed priority bidding on positions that are currently available a available that match their certifications before these positions are posted for those outside of Logan County schools so what that means is I know like there was one case where I had two positions someone uh I had to bump this one position had teacher the other position had a long-term sub
the teacher I had to bump the teacher out of this position but state law will not allow me to put her in a long-term subs position because that's considered a vacancy. So as soon as we let everybody know where they're going, we post all those vacancies and our rifts and transfers have first priority to bid on those. So, I just wanted to let the kiddos know that wrote me letters that this is what happens. Um, and and uh, you know, our goal is to to reduce the number of long-term subs that we have to put our qualified teachers back in those positions. And and again, it's a it's a shuffle season, I call it, because people bid and move around and it it takes a little bit, but we're going to work as quickly as
we can to stabilize what what's going to happen. Now, just some FAQs. You know, what does it mean if employee is bumped? What does that mean? You hear that term a lot. Um, and it's a common term when a teaching or service position is eliminated at a particular school and that person in that position is transferred into another position held by someone with less experience or seniority. So, it's a seniority driven system and that person with less seniority is then placed on the reduction of force or rift list. Now, and and another question I kind of answered this one. Instead of a reduction of force, can a teacher be transferred into a vacant position held by long-term sub? And the answer to that is no at this time. Um they can't the state law is
not allow us to transfer them into vacant positions. We post those for the transfer rip employees uh to apply during during the appropriate time. And the last question which I I tell every person I've met with this this last two weeks is does employee performance play a role in the roof and transfer process? And employee evaluations may play a role in whether a provisional contract of a new employee are renewed. But in the case of Griff and transfer, seniority and certification are the driving factors, not not their job performance. So what I've been able to say to many of our employees that are on those list is has nothing to do with your your job performance. It has to do with the state law and how how it works. So >> is dictated by mostly
by probably the the teachers union contract. Well, I don't I don't know about that, but that some of that is, you know, there are some uh driving forces with that, but I I also want to commend the teachers and and and then the service personnel have been has been incredibly kind when I've come to deliver this bad news to them and I and that just shows that the quality of of work force we have here. Um but um we'll get to where we need to be. We'll make sure uh that our our kids have adequate staffing and that we're not in any kind of fiscal u like other counties have been placed in and u you know as what's nice is if we see there's a need and we need to add people back it's
easy to add them back but it's it's difficult to cut positions and this is the only time a year we can do it. So I just wanted to give you an update on that as well. So that that's all I have for you today. >> Thank you very much. We'll now go on to board member comments and we'll start to mic with Mr. Rogerio. >> Let's I'll go watch the chat and we'll win their game. >> Other than that, I have no comments. >> Thank you, >> Mr. Gaser. >> I just like to thank all you guys for coming out of mind. Encourage you to come back. I said whenever you all speak, we listen. Um the uh to give the board an update, we had the WVU extension meeting last week. Um one of
the things that I talked to them about was being more advertising, I guess you would say, because W Extension is a good program does a lot for kids. it does a lot but but nothing it's not publicized much and um so they're going to try to start getting out programs that they're doing with us that they're actively doing right now and uh they you know they talked about the participation of our schools which they bragged and said that we're doing doing well with our participation but I told them to use us as a tool and you get with you guys that they would advertise what they're doing more then it could get us involved in encouraging our schools to to participate with it or or informing them to program this. But uh everything went as
planned at the meeting and uh but that that was the main part of our discussion. Um all talked about the uh the Marshall Hill and uh man I just can't say enough about Justin Turn and Logan Richard and they have been spot on and seems like everything we've done everything that we've had happen they have been involved or offered to be involved in some way. really appreciate everything that they've all >> right. Thank you, sir. Uh Dr. What? >> Um, I'd like to remind our board members and also our superintendent and administrative staff that on the I think it's the 30th of March, it's um um the West Virginia School Board Associations is conducting a meeting that will again at 6:00 and it's at the uh Could you help me out? >> Yes. Four points
by I was trying to find it on >> Okay. >> Four points by Sheridan on the can. >> Okay. So, it's going to be held in Charleston beginning at 6:00 on that particular day. At that time, board members, if they would need it, can pick up two uh two more hours of training. However, at our meeting in Morgantown, at our training in Morgantown, uh Dr. Al stressed that if at all possible, this would be a very interesting meeting to try to attend because what they plan to do is review legislation that is passed that impacts school systems and board of education members. So, because this is going to be so quick, I just wanted to mention that now because uh if you would need to plan on attending, um I'm sure Teresa will get something
or maybe she already had, but in the next couple weeks, there'll be a registration or something. I'm sure that Howard will send out. So then when we come to our meeting, our next board meeting, I mean, we'll need to, you know, have our minds made up and Teresa will, you know, take care of registration, I'm sure, for us and then, you know, our transportation and all will need to be, you know, approved and everything like that. So I just wanted to mention that to you because time frame is for you. >> What day does I >> 30th? Dr. >> That's on a what? >> The 30th >> Friday. >> I think it's on a Tuesday. >> That's a Tuesday, >> but I could be mistaken. >> Okay. Thank you. I'll check. >> Thank you very
much. >> That's all, >> Mr. Martin. >> No comments. Um I've just got a couple. Uh, I I want to commend um the um the staff at at Logan Elementary and the staff at Logan Middle School. Um had the opportunity to go uh to their open house. Uh met Mr. Teaser up there and we kind of tooured how everything was set up. They had from from my perspective, I'm sure that they that that something was overlooked because anytime you have something like that, you're going to have something that's overlooked. But man, they had all their eyes dotted and their tees crossed. I mean, they were they were ready to go. I mean, to the to the point where, you know, we walked in a couple classrooms and it's like, you know, the lights are too
bright. We're going to we're going to, you know, dim those down a little bit so the kids aren't aren't it's not so harsh on them. You know what I mean? Stuff like that. And I think, you know, the the care that they were showing for those kids really really shown through. And and I told everybody, you know, what I was worried about is, you know, kids walking into that school building and, you know, having apprehension about moving to a new building or being around some of the bigger kids. Man, you all you saw was smiling faces and they were just they were just excited to be back. So, I think that speaks a lot to the the staff at Logan Elementary and and you know, and the staff at Logan Middle as well to be
as accommodating as they have been. Um, I think it's just been fantastic and and it speaks to the community and and the and the emphasis that that they really do place on on our students. Um, as far as the policies go, I I I do want to to um remind everyone we just got control of policy back what, 3 4 weeks ago. So, it's not been that long. Uh, so bear with us a little bit as we get our feet underneath us with this stuff. Um um it's it's it's an important uh part of a of a board's duty uh to make sure that your policies reflect uh not only state law and not only uh state board policy, but to reflect what um the board has as a vision for the school system that
we're that we're over. And um you know I as a a board member and I I hope I speak for everybody up here don't don't take that lightly. So I I think um I think it's it's good that we're we're kind of taking our time with this. So I ask everybody for a little bit of patience as we go through. Um and and and um I think with the website being set up the way it is that that's about as as transparent as you can be unless we sit here and read every single word of every single policy at every single meeting which you know you're you're looking at hours on that because some of those policies are pretty long. So, um I'm I'm excited to to get this ball rolling um and and and
get some of these policies updated to more reflect more accurately reflect where we're at um as a board and as a county. Um and um I just want to thank uh Mr. Ellis for the works that uh him and the committee did on the uh on the calendar because if if we're lined up with Lincoln County on that spring break, man, that'll be fantastic. I got a lot of people that that that have been on me about that for a long time and I'm like listen I you know I I don't have any control of that and then you know you guys made it happen. So I'm hoping that's the one that they pick so that way we can we can get aligned and and I'm really really excited about that and I know I
know some parents of kids that uh that are Chapmill Regional and Hearts Perk K through eight that are going to be uh ecstatic about that too. So thank you for for for working hard on that. Um, moving on to announcements. Uh, the only announcement we have is the next uh board of education meeting will be held uh on March 24th, 2026 at 5:00 pm here in the uh Ralph R. Willis uh career and technical center boardroom. Uh there being no further business before this board, I need a motion for adjournment. Uh Mr. Kezer with the motion. I second. >> Dr. Pat Joe White with the second. All those in favor of adjournment, please indicate by saying I. I. All those opposed, please indicate by saying no. The eyes have it. 5-0. We are adjourned at
46 p.m.
