By pursuing world language studies, you are doing something truly powerful. You're breaking down barriers and building connections. Learning a language isn't just memorizing vocabulary or mastering grammar. It's about gaining access to new cultures, perspectives, and ways of thinking. When you speak another language, you don't just translate words. You unlock stories, traditions, and ideas that shape how millions of people see the world. In our global community, multilingual students like you are invaluable. You can collaborate with peers worldwide and lead with empathy and cultural understanding.

007These are skills that will define change makers in the 21st century. With this said, keep pushing your language skills forward. Speak boldly and embrace the journey. 019with the National Latin Honor Society's induction ceremony. I invite Jimmy Nuion and the officers to please come forward to the podium. [applause] Membership in the National Latin Honor Society is selective. Students must maintain an A average throughout the year. They must be members in good standing of their local JCO chapter and the national JCO. They must be examples of good citizenship and character in the Latin classroom and beyond. In addition, membership does not automatically happen year after year. Because a student is inducted this year, it is incumbent that he or she continue to maintain the standards for inclusion. I encourage those of you still in the early stages of your Latin career to aspire to similar heights each and every year. I now invite Emma Perry to welcome you. [applause] >> So Omnes, my name

023Congratulations [applause] everyone. You may sit. Congratulations to all our World Language Honor Society inductees tonight. At this time, I would like to invite Emma Perry back to the podium as we will recognize our Everett High School students who will receive the seal of biiteracy. During this brief moment or transition, we are going to take a few moments to welcome our seal by literacy students to the stage. I don't know where to stop. I know. I was sitting no sit up there. Okay. Yeah, you guys. Tonight we celebrate a tremendous academic achievement, the mastery of two or more languages. The students standing before us have not only met the rigorous standards of our district, but they have earned a distinction that marks them as leaders in our global community. The Massachusetts state seal of biiteracy was

024established by the language opportunity for kids act signed into law in November of 2017. This law was created to recognize the immense value of bilingualism and biiteracy in the 21st century. Before 2017, the language opportunity coalition worked for years to pilot this project, proving that Massachusetts students needed a way to showcase their skills in English and another language. With this official seal on their diploma or transcript, these students are ready to lead in our multicultural world. The state seal affirms the identity of our multilingual and multicultural students, telling them that their languages and cultures are valuable assets. It serves as a testament to the power of bilingualism to connect cultures, break down barriers, and broaden horizons. To receive this award, students had to meet stringent criteria. They had to meet all graduation requirements. They had

025to pass English proficiency on the grade 10 ELA MCAST. Their world language proficiency was determined as they had to attain a minimum of intermediate high proficiency in all four language domains, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Some of our students tonight went even further, earning the state sealed by literacy with distinction, which requires an advanced proficiency level in the world language. To our students, you are proof that our community is stronger when we embrace all our languages. We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication. At this time, we would like to recognize students who have received the Massachusetts Seal of Literacy. We will call them forward to receive their certificate and their graduation cord.
