So we're going to celebrate our county winners tonight in those categories. Um I would like to ask Mrs. Murphy if she wants to come up assist. We will start tonight to recognize our young writer county winners. Um I want to kind of let Mrs. Murphy to to run through this program and I'll assist her in in handing these out. And once we once we get each uh Mrs. Murphy, you just let us know what group we want to get together as far as pictures go. >> Okay. >> So, once you receive your word, just kind of stand up here in front. 005on you. >> Everybody know where the brown is. >> Hey Sarah, would you have Miss Murphy if there's any questions about where it is location? Some people Let's go back to Next on the agenda, we would like to recognize a couple of our employees. Um the state of West Virginia has added a couple new categories. Um starting this year uh along with the teacher of the year which has been around for a while that we recognize the teacher of the year and also a service employee of the year. This year the state has started two new categories. One to recognize the hard work of our counselors. So we have each county has a counselor of the year as well as a principal of the year. So, with that being said, we we're going to start
with the uh the Nicholas County Counselor of the Year. And this individual has uh has done amazing work. I'm going to let Mr. Williams come up and share some share some more because this is his area of responsibility. But, um this year I've been exposed to to Mrs. Lemon's work throughout throughout the year as far as being an integral part of our of our organization and trying to implement Senate Bill 199 um along with just being a huge resource to our schools as it relates to to providing assistance with threat assessments um to providing supports for kids and students um that a lot of times goes unnoticed but but by the staff her work has not went unnoticed. Um she's just an amazing asset to Nicholas County and we're very fortunate to have her on
board. So Mr. Williams, would you like to come up and say a few more? Presidents, board members, superintendent, it's truly an honor to introduce the school counselor of the year for this district. As Superintendent Cochran mentioned, we did recogn When you walk into the building, you can see all the effort and all the hard work that's went into making it a place that's very student centered. And it's evident when you walk through the front doors, you visit classrooms, it's evident. um the processes, the procedures that she has implemented are those that that put high expectations that put student achievement at the top, but also it's a place of caring, warm, and a loving environment. So, I mean, it fits the mold of what a successful school should be. um others around the county have kind
of stolen some of her ideas and she's been willing to share those which is what we're here for, right? Um but her work does not go unnoticed, that's for sure. and I'm appreciating every day that that we have conversations. Okay. Yes. That way there is >> I didn't give them an opportunity but I'll start to save my I love my job. I love what I do. When I started 2022, I never thought that I would get to make the relationships that I have now with the co-workers that So, it's um it really has become a family at the schools that I'm at. And my schools do change sometimes from year to year. So, I really bless to get to um travel around the county and get to work on the folks that of Nicholas County
because they really are special. you left me up here. I am I am very grateful and I'm honored. Um I really I really don't care about um awards and things like that. I truly don't. I It is a mission and it's my heart and I actually don't like this at all. I uh the only the only way that I could have done this is because of the people at Golly River and and the people that came here to support me because it is um uh not an easy job, but it has to be a calling in my opinion and and you have to have people that are covering you and supporting you. It is all about shared leadership and I will say that um I feel a great deal of support from this administration. Um
I was gone for a long time and and came back. So I have um a viewpoint from different states but I do feel a lot of support. Um Dr. Lee has been tremendous in showing me what to do and what I need to do and how to do it. And um Superintendent Cochran has been nothing but supportive. And then I mean everybody everybody on that back row back there as well. So thank you. I appreciate it. >> Um with that being said that that was that was great. I just love it. Um, family members, guardians, and please, please feel free to to make your way and enjoy the rest of your evening at this time or please feel free to join us for the rest of the meeting. I'll be Yes. Hey girl. All right,
as we move on to the agenda, again, these items have all been previously approved by state superintendent of schools. Um, under new business, we did have two things. One, we did adopt the adoption of of next year's um curriculum as it relates to fine arts drivers ed health wellness and personal finance. So that curriculum has been adopted along with the uh materials that'll go with each of those areas. Two, we did we did advertise and put out an RFP for architectural engineering services. Um we did have a pretty good response from that. We ended up interviewing four firms and we made the selection which was approved to uh to have ZM architects and engineers to provide our services as relates to school building authority of West Virginia and any major improvement projects relie projects that
we may have in the next two years. Under consent we did have uh five six six out ofstate trip request. Under service employees, we have one service employee leave request. Have one service employee resignation request. And then as you can
see under transfer of service employees, we did have 12 12 requests which were approved for transfer under service employees. Under the employment of service employees, we have two new two new employments. One substitute co help and one custodian three at Summit Grove School. Resignations. We have three reservation requests for extracurricular contracts. Those were approved with the physician and the effective date. Then as you can see under employment, we did have quite a few um extracurricular employment and that's again as it relates to most of our summer programming. So trying to finish those up for this this coming summer. Future dates for your reference. We do have another meeting scheduled in May. That is Tuesday, May 26, the day after Memorial Day.
