001Mr. Morton. >> Yes, sir. >> Good evening. It is time to call the March 3rd, 2026 War County Board of Education meeting to order. First order of business is our pledge of allegiance. And this evening, we're going to ask Mr. Goodn Night to lead us in the pledge. You do it from right there. To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you, sir. Okay. Approval agenda. Need a motion to approve the agenda. >> So move. >> Okay. There is nothing that is different. It is the original agenda that we have. No um add-ons or takeaways. Any questions on the agenda hear? None. We have a motion to approve the agenda. All in favor

002say I. >> I. Oppose say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. And down to recognitions. And we do have a recognition tonight. And I am going to turn this over to Mr. Moore. you want to come up and tell us a little bit about your project there. >> Hello. >> There we go. >> There you go. >> All right. So, I was driving home one night and something just hit me. I thought when I was really little, my grandma, my grandmother had given me a stuffed tiger. And I thought it'd be a very supportive and positive thing to do for the work county school community as the work county tiger. And I set a goal that I was going to get all I believe we have 834 students enrolled in the work county board of

003education system. I was going to get a plushy for all of them and their younger younger siblings. Every kid in work county plushies. We have >> I believe 937 plushies so far. My goal is a thousand. >> How many? >> 937 is how much we currently have. >> Um my I really don't know the numbers of bigger to littleer as this for an example um tiger plushies. my plan. The bigger ones I would like to give to special education students. Go in there and let them know that I support them. Like they mean a lot to us. And if I have enough, give some to the teachers, the bigger ones to the teachers as well. I think that'd be a very good positive thing to do and show good tiger pride to all the little

004tiger cubs and tigers we have at Work County High School. Well, I want to commend you on your school spirit first off and having a great idea to share that school spirit with the students in War County schools. And I think um thank you for that. And I think you have a very nice senior project um to share with the students. and uh we would like to get a picture of you and the board has made a certificate um to share with you to recognize your achievement um of your school project and to recognize you for your outstanding school spirit. >> Awesome. Let's open up for questions board members have. I I have a question that's what I want. Go >> ahead. >> Um how are you raising the money? What are you doing to

005>> So this was done by all Tigers in W County. everyone who wanted to be involved. I started a post on Facebook after I had that thought me driving home. It was I was like, I got to do this filled with joy. So, I started a Facebook post and on social media, I started spreading the word asking everyone to pitch in, everyone to help. And sure enough, the answered like this is such a beautiful little community, Work County, and together we've we've did this. I can say we've did this. >> How did you come up with that many? >> Do you order them or >> Well, we have an Amazon list that people can like uh connect to. It's like a registry >> and a lot of them are these tinier ones. They come in

006packs. Some of them we have a lot of people helping with this. This is a very big movement. I didn't think it was going to become this big, but it did. So, praise the Lord. >> So, you you need what 63 more. Uh so, uh if anybody's interested probably, you know, don't I didn't know about it. I am on Facebook, but yeah, my but anyway, uh just go on Amazon and order it and then send it to you or bring it to you. >> Yep. >> Which one? uh you can either bring them to the school through board of education or bring them to the office and Doy will have them for me or on the Amazon registry which is on my Facebook post they will be sent straight to me. >> Okay. >> So

007either one will work. >> All right. >> So what is your Facebook was the >> Facebook? >> If I want to go in there what do I need to type in? >> Uh so you go under my post my account is Wyatt goodnight. >> Okay. you go under my post and you will see the registry either in the comments or in the um subtext of the post. >> Okay. So, anybody out there that would like this help this young man get to his final 63 or more. Right. >> The more the marrier, >> his Facebook post is Wyatt Goodnight and from there you can go on and uh if you wish to help out, you go on to Amazon. Excellent project. I know it'll it'll bring smile to a lot of people's face. Good job.

008Good job. >> I just want to I just want to tell you too that this doesn't happen everywhere. You know what I mean? This is a special I saw it and to some people it might be something simple or part of a school project that you were made to do, but nobody made you do this in particular project and it's uh you you don't gain anything from it. So therefore, the only reason for it is uh just your heart, right? You wanted to do it out of the out of being nice, and that's just awesome to see. Really is. Well done. >> I'm sorry. Any other board members comments or questions? >> I've already told him this, but I've heard a lot of comments that he's probably one of the best Tigers we've had. >>

009Thank you. Sure. >> Virginia. Um so we're like great. They came in. They did their um presentation for me u Mr. Walker and my guidance counselor Mrs. Duncle. It was fantastic. It was very um pertinent. It didn't go into the weeds trying to push anybody's hidden agenda because it's the state of West Virginia doing this. It's not an outside agency that can kind of push more what they want to push. So, we're like, great, we'll sign you up. We went through all the things and I said, "All right, per our county county policy, I have to record you." Well, that's not not okay. They're not allowed to do that. And I think a lot of it um she told me that their commissioner is the only one that can approve anything on camera. And I

010said, "Well, our policy says we can do audio. Can we do that?" And they're not even allowed to do that. And the thing that we're running into, I talked to Mrs. um Smith at the high school because Mrs. Dy teaches health has outside presenters and they're kind of running into the same thing. Back in the 1999, we had VHS cassettes and we had camcorders and you drug it out and then you stored them. Well, now everything's digital. And with AI and things being misconstrued, these companies, these departments are not willing to have these just willy-nilly recordings of their presentations because of people hacking in or people getting hold of them and altering them in some way to make it look like they did something they didn't. Um, we're just living in a different time period

011now. So, obviously, I know we have this policy in place for for a reason. Um so they suggested their alternate alternate way of dealing with this is that they will come in before the presentation and do a presentation for community or parents. So they would do a presentation exactly like they'd be doing for the students in advance. We could invite parents, invite board members, anyone in the community that has a concern to come and hear that presentation and ask questions before our students ever see it. So that kind of is more in line with state guidance. um is um when I pulled the standards, it talks about, you know, students need to be able to opt out and they even suggest parents or community um previewing it before you do it. So, I'm just wondering,

012and obviously you're the board, you get to tell me no. It probably won't be the last time if you tell me no about something. Um, on number three of our policy where it says all presentations pertaining to sex or drug education will be audio or visually recorded. I if someone's willing to be recorded, I think that's great. But I would love to have an or like an or offer this presentation to the community to screen it before it's offered to our students or or an or that says if it's a government health agency presenting. Um it's kind of like when we have to do those required surveys like we have some concerns about surveys from outside agency but when the state of West Virginia requires it or they provide it you know we look at

013it a little bit differently. So that's just my proposal. Um they there is some research as well that have found and I looked all over surrounding counties for anybody that has a policy like this and they don't. Um, we're the only one that I found when I searched state of West Virginia policies for like I tried googling different ways to put it. Um, we are the only one that I found that has to make these people record video or audio of their presentation. Actually, some counties have policies that say you can't record classes because students don't talk. when you have that tape player going, they are much less likely to ask questions, >> which I think our former, you know, teachers over the years would agree with that. Um, our students don't like the recording.

014And this is kind of what the Department of Health, the um, lady's name was Tiffany that met with us and she said, "Oh, no, the recording thing are the kids don't want to talk to us if we have a camera." We found that they do talk more, ask more questions, things like that. So, I'm just broaching the subject because I would like to be able to use the Department of Health to do this presentation. Mr. Walker really would like to um have this. I mean, if not, he's perfectly capable of teaching these standards, but sometimes with these type of topics, it's nice to have an outside presenter come do that. He stays in the whole time. Obviously, the rest of the policy, actually, we were planning on him and Mrs. Duncle, my counselor, being in

015there for all presentations as well. So, I just wanted to put that out there, see what the board thinks about that or if that's even a possibility so that we can try to get them scheduled before the end of the year. >> So, we just have to amend amend the policy, >> right? Yeah, we'll amend the if it's the will of the board, we'll amend the policy and then we'll have to put uh the amended policy out for comment and then approve amended policy. I will say this that the concern with artificial intelligence doing something with that is very valid. Um for instance at a superintendent meeting that we had um you might be aware that there's some goodnatured rivalry between Jackson County schools and Putnham County Schools with Mr. Hosipluke there. So in real

016time in a meeting in about 10 minutes time, Putnham County Schools took a photograph and a recording of Mr. Hosafluke who is Jackson County Superintendent and they made a promotional video with Mr. Hosafluke promoting Putnham County Schools and it took them about it was done in 10 minutes while we were sitting there in real time. It is very easy to manipulate a video recording and to make it look like it's saying something that it's not and it looks very legitimate. So that's a valid concern. >> Yeah. I think if they're willing to come in um actually I think that's an upgrade >> as a parent. I would love to see the >> present community member. >> Um that would be an upgrade for them to if you're if you're worried or interested in what's being

017said or what's happening um to to do it for the community. I think it's an upgrade from having it videotaped. >> Yeah. Because what I mean so you videotape it. If you said something wrong, it's already said. >> Yeah. >> This this way you're kind of preventing that. you can, you know, there was something that they had on a card. Um, and I was like, I don't think we need that. They just took it out of the polic. I mean, they just took it out of the presentation. So, um, I I like that. I think that's a fair um, thing for parents. And we still have the opt out where kids don't have to listen to it at all. Parents can always opt their child out of this and they'll learn the standards in a

018different way. They won't have to listen to an outside presenter. >> So, that's videoed whatsoever. It will not be >> I mean for the class itself >> yeah it won't be videoed >> and I do agree when you videotape it uh as far as students go it's questions that they might ask if they know that videotape is going to be available to anybody that wants it where I'm not quite sure now if we actually with the purpose stuff if we could actually turn that loose to >> Yeah. >> with kids in it. I mean, it's sort of like our videotapes it, >> you know, for our school builds. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I don't know that we could. >> And like I said, I've been at the middle school for over 20 years. We haven't

019had a request for it um in that time. And if I were to ask to go back and find the one 20 years ago before I was in charge, I don't know where that might be. Hopefully somewhere. But um >> I think when you're using a state agency too, you're going along with their rules. Playing by their rules is not a terrible thing. H >> how are the recordings stored? >> Um t now in the last few years we haven't had one in a few years on an iPad and saved to someone's one drive like our technology person's one drive. Now the state of West Virginia will tell you your email from K12 is absolutely secure. >> Um so my question is with previous recordings and if the policy doesn't change recordings going forward they're

020how are they controlled? Uh so is it is it something that is stored on the cloud or internal storage or where? >> Yeah, it would be stored on the one drive. on the one drive. >> Yeah. Years ago before they it was just a a VHS tape and I when when I was there >> uh I they were just stored in my you know in my in my desk. I mean they were >> you know the it was just a VHS tape that was put with other VHS tapes. >> Yeah. >> Have we have we ever lost data before? >> Have we lost data? Um, >> have we had data that we know of that was stolen? >> No, not that I'm aware of. But have we had issues with emails being compromised, which is

021essentially your one drive. I mean, I don't know that anyone's ever been gotten into, but we get those flags all the time where people in other counties send us messages and then they send out a thing that they were hacked or whatever. But K12 is supposed to be safe. I mean, there's no I mean, it's email, so I wouldn't 100% rely on anything. I don't store anything that I digitally like that on my one drive, which I'm kind of old school and paper and pen a lot of times, but I'm sure it's safe, but I don't think there's a lot of people out there that really care what Wart County Schools is saving. So, they're probably not attempting. >> Well, and I I uh can speak as my time as principal at the middle school.

022Um I think we did have a couple of things of that regard and I don't recall either anybody there there being an issue or anybody ever asking for it. So Mike uh my concern is if if we are worried about a recording that we make at the school losing control of that where somebody manipulates it then what of our other products are unsecure where somebody might have access to >> I don't think we have anything unsecure in that way. It's just that I mean these when people decide to hack they're professionals and I don't even know all the ins and outs that they probably go through. Um but I think as a general rule why presenters are struggling with that is they might realize yeah county schools is safe but everyone's not. So they have

023their rule in place because not everyone can be trusted like a school system if that makes sense. That's why they're kind of anti-recording anti- allowing someone else control of a video of them. M Sherlock, I'm I'm gonna go back real quick in history why this come about. >> Uh back in 99, obviously that's when the policy has been put in place. There was a presenter that presented uh these topics to students War County Middle School. Okay. And it was reported that although we had people in there, we still had we had uh our PE teacher and a couple of people in there. It was reported that this said that this person said something that was not necessarily the community standard. Okay. And there was there was a big blow up over it at that time.

024it. I I said there earlier, all jokes aside, it might have been the biggest board meeting I've ever been to. Okay. And I was principal during that time. Okay. Um so it it just blew up. Okay. So in response to that, we come up with this policy. Okay. Since that time, it's never ever been an issue. Was that one time >> uh that it was an issue. Okay. So that person when when that happened that person did not pre um give that presentation to uh adults in the community or to parents okay they didn't give it to me okay they come highly recommended so we learned some things okay so I I think the same thing if if they're willing or the people are willing to come in and do the presentation for our parents,

025okay, or for our community, then that takes care of the issue of what's what the curriculum, what's being said, okay? It was never about losing data or anything like that. I get what you're saying. It was never about that. It was about being able to um because there truly was things that were attributed to her saying that she truly didn't say. Okay. And there were some things she did say that wherever your mind's eye, okay, what your belief is, you might have found those things not to be um appropriate or somebody might have found them to be appropriate. Somebody might have found not to be appropriate. But if they give us the presentation beforehand, we know that stuff. Okay. And then our principal can say, "Nah, we're not we we really don't want you say

026this," as Gayla said. So, I think it takes care of it. It wasn't ever about It was just about being It was really more or less >> the videotape was more or less for the benefit of the person that was doing the presentation. So, if they were accused of saying something, they would be able to prove without a doubt that they didn't say it because this went this went a little bit haywire. And probably the only people really remember probably me and Mr. Love. >> I I definitely remember. >> I was gonna say I probably wouldn't have been on the board had it not been for that. >> I agree with you, >> Mr. Much as anything. But it's a warning. It can be a really hot cup and we both live >> and it

027it it really got to be something much bigger than it was. Okay. And and what happened is that and I don't want to dredge it up but we have people coming from other states. Okay. I mean it really took on a life didn't it? >> Yeah. So >> yeah, >> the board at that time come up with this policy as a way to protect. >> Uh but what Gayla is saying if they do it >> because I I think part of what happened there is our our citizens, our parents thought that we did something underhanded. Okay. And but if if I'm given a chance to come look at this before it's ever given to students, then we're not then you can say I don't want my child. Uh it might be it might just hit

028that line that you don't want. Okay? And there's an opt out and you'll say I don't want my child to go. >> And we will still um it says there number six where we send information home at least 10 days before the presentation. We still I've already sent information home >> right >> about this happening this year and have a few optouts and then I'll send it again when I have a definite date to make sure that parents are aware that we're having this because many parents are not aware that this is state standards that have to be taught and I don't mean to imply that we have a we're going to have a data breach but to imply to make you understand why companies don't want to be recorded because they can't trust everyone

029to store things properly. It's not. And they can't change their policy because it's us and we can guarantee that we're safe. They they're a state agency and their policy is their policy with no wiggle room. I I pretty well tried everything. >> Yeah. >> So, how would the board like me to work that amendment >> to to number three? >> Go ahead, Gail. Say again what you I just suggested that we say on number three they will be audio or visually recorded or the presentation will be given in advance to be available for parents and community to to watch or to participate in. when since we're since we're at this part, could we not just change the whole thing to what you just said that the the information will be provided a week before what

030and then just do away with the recording? >> Yeah, I don't think we want to say a a week, Luke. I would say >> in time for parent to >> to opt out. >> Sure. I'm just saying since we're at this point, it hasn't been revised since 99 since we're here. I think it's official to just go ahead. >> Yeah. >> If we go ahead, if that's a problem, as we can see now, times have changed and it is a problem. So now just get rid of it to where it's not even in there. I think the rest of the policy the policy where we talk about um viewing the material and that the presenter knows what what we're county schools expects and won't tolerate and being able to send those presentations by mail uh

031or the not presentation the the opt out. >> Yeah. >> Or the information by mail which is something that we don't do for anything else. Okay. We we don't send anything else but out by mail except for the things within this policy. >> Yeah. This the only thing that I I notify by by mail. And honestly, parents are a lot more used to getting a phone call from the school about things like this. So when they see mail coming, they know they need to open it. >> Yeah. video where it >> Well, I ours would be protected. I feel confident that ours would be protected. But these companies and these agencies that do this, >> they can't trust that. >> They they can't just take my word because I mean, we're a trustworthy organization. We

032have good technology. Um, so they just their policy is no one gets to go on the camera but the commissioner from the department. >> See, I don't like I like >> record. >> That's my personal >> They shouldn't have nothing behind. >> I know what you're saying. How can >> I'm Yeah. It's just in a world where if this is will help me get quality presenters, that's why I'm asking for the change because I would much rather have a quality presenter from the West Virginia Department of Health than >> try to go find people that are willing to be recorded that may try to turn their own personal opinion more. So, which is what we try to avoid. We try to we just stick to the facts of what has to be covered. >> It

033wasn't that long ago, didn't West Virginia was department that had that survey here and we had to make some changes to it because we felt as if it was too young too much younger kids. Anybody remember >> Mark? I'm I'm not I'm not sure who the sponsor of that >> it's the same thing here. Right. Well, >> controversial. Well, I'm what I'm saying. She's just given a presentation. We can go this discussion later on. Is that correct? >> I'm sorry. >> Uh, she's given presentation of what she would like to see, but this discussion we're getting into should be done in a board meeting that's on the agenda. Correct. >> Yeah. What we'll do is ask Mr. Macau to make that change on that policy and then we'll bring Miss Sigman. What type of time

034frame are we in here? >> Um, we would like to see >> because we don't want to put it on our next one. >> Yeah, we would like to have them scheduled for the end of April is our goal to have them scheduled at the end of April. >> John, let's Mr. Macau, if you wouldn't mind changing this policy and bringing back to his first meeting in April. >> Okay. and then it'll be on the agenda and then we we can >> and if we pass it then it'll give you time to >> time to do it. >> Sound good guys? >> Another another question for you. So as it's been in the past when they do the recordings are the students recorded >> or just the presenter? >> I mean the students are in

035that video the the camera is on the presenter but it's of the classroom. So, it's the backs of the students typically, but as the presenter moves or shifts, you know, I can't guarantee that there's not I mean, it's zoomed in, but >> yeah. And then the questions of the if a student asks a question, okay, that is that is on that audio or video. >> And my my middle schoolers will flat out tell you they're not asking a question if there's camera on. >> Well, well, it I think it impedes on the whole process really. Because if you don't understand something, you're probably not, you know what I mean? >> Here's the bottom line. Well, my bottom line, how's that? It's not the bottom line. My bottom line, okay, is that we have held true

036to this policy since 1999. We absolutely make parents no, okay? They get a mailing. The only thing we do that they get a mailing saying that you have a right, mom, dad, to take your kid out, okay? And they have a right to do that and we respect that. But you don't have a right not to let other kids hear it if it's needed. you have a right to take yours out but you don't have a right to stop other students and uh as they don't have a right to stop your child from being being taken out. So that's that's where I sit the parent has control of what is happening with their child. You don't have a right to control every what happens with every other >> and they still have to have the

037content standard. >> Yes, >> they'll be presented. >> Well, that's that's my main thing too really. I mean you we know for a fact it has to happen. So if it has to happen I would rather it be from the health department than >> okayriv. >> Yeah. Well yeah because I mean they have to look at like she said you know they have to look at that teacher every day. They're probably not you. >> They're going to feel weird talking to them about that. And and I will say I sent the you know I sent my letter out that this was upcoming because it was up in the air and just in case they agreed to be recorded we would have already done this and I have less than 10 kids in the entire building

038that have opted out. >> Yeah. Well and one more thing before we move on. It is it's it's in a way unnatural as well because we tell them all year that you should not be talking to your teacher about certain things but then we turn that off for a week. They're not going to they're not going to feel comfortable talking to them if it's like, you know what I mean? >> It's a delicate subject. It is absolutely delicate and you know in a lot of homes it's taken care of by parents. In the majority of homes it's not taken I mean those types of things. Um so what the information we give them is all factual. There is no opinions with it. So I think an outside presentation they are very skilled at this. They

039go to 22 of our counties and do this presentation and have not had issues. So I think that says a lot about the presentation. It is very cut and dry and they are willing to to give your the presentation either now it has to be actual or or uh present or does it have it in writing or how would they go about giving it to you >> for the parents? No, the the the presenter >> said they would they would get tell you what they were talking about. >> Well, she already came and met with me and just went over her presentation with us and then she will come have a presentation exactly that mimics what she will do for the students and parents will be invited. >> So, how long would that take? How

040long's the presentation? >> Um, so the presentation she is a 90minute presentation. So, they would come for two days of class time for a 45 minute but they would do it one evening for parents. She said it would be less than 90 minutes because that 90 minutes a lot's for kids getting settled and things like that. So less than 90 minutes and she would preview it completely. >> I >> and the fifth and sixth grade presentation is different from the seventh and eth. That's important to note as well >> as are the stand >> standards. Okay. So miss you bring that back to sir and we'll have >> I appreciate you considering it. I know it's a touchy subject, but all you can do is tell me no. So, >> worth a shot. >> Here.

041Again, we're, you know, nobody is is telling any student or any parent that their child has to participate. >> Correct. >> They have a right and we respect that right. >> Yep. Yep. Absolutely. >> Yeah. Thank you, Miss Sigman. >> Thank you guys. Okay, we're down to our CFP annual update, Mr. Mac. >> So, this was in your packet. Each year, we have to update the CFP and projects that we um either have completed and marked off the list or changes with what we foresee our needed projects being. And just noteworthy on this is um we did update the potential date of the new high school and uh football complex potential and that's what was changed. So each year we have to update on that on the site. We bring that to the board um

042to show you what those changes were and this is the note worthy change on the CFP this time. >> Questions for Mr. Mckllen I I believe you that is in your packets. >> Yes. I didn't make a paper handout but it is in your packet >> and that is not an action item just information >> questions. Okay. Hear none. We'll move on to delegations which we have none. So we'll move down to our agenda. Need a motion to approve the minutes of the February 17, 2026 uh meeting. >> So moved. >> Any questions or comments on the minutes? Any corrections? >> Hear none. We have a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 17, 2025. All in favor say I. >> I. Oppose say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. I

043was an eye on that. I didn't say that. But okay, down to payment of invoices. Need a motion to approve the payment invoices in the amount of $128,2162. >> So move. >> Okay. Two runs of expenditures for your consideration tonight. The first on 225 2026. Total is $19,918.73. This is primarily utility bills. And the second run of expenditures on 226 20226 totals 108,29729. Noteworthy on this. We've got computers for the middle school library. We have frontline software for PD tracking. And we have West Virginia Department of Education cost for fall virtual school classes. And these two runs of expenditures total $128,2162. >> Any questions from Mr. McCallen on invoices? >> Yeah. On the the computers for the uh the middle school library, how many do we get? >> And is it for like administrative or

044for the students? >> All right. This is student computers. >> I will have to pull I'll have to pull the expenditure. It's it's for students. If you go in the middle school library and then you look in the back, there are the computer stations that are around the back thing that are there. And sometimes a teacher will bring a class in and do some sort of projects. Um, but it did replace those computers. I'm not exactly sure how many computers it was. >> He can find it real quick. >> But I can pull I can pull the requisition, but it'll take a minute. >> Yes, please. Let me have It is to >> moment speed LLC. >> Now, if Mrs. Cummings was here, I would know that she would know the answer to this right

045off. >> There it is. Derek, >> uh, it was for 25 25 uh, ASUS essential N97 replacement computers for library >> 25 and and uh, the ones that we replaced, do we know how old they were before we replaced them? >> I don't know the answer to that, but I can get the answer to that for you. So the the reason I'm asking is I'm curious if we have a life cycle plan for those things like should were they replaced within a threeyear four year. >> So I know that typically it's at least a fouryear cycle that we have and and replace the things with the typical computers that the students are using the the computers in the library. I don't know that they see a tremendous amount of use. So, the life cycle of

046that might have been a little bit longer than that. Um, but I'm not sure. I can ask that question and bring an answer back to you. >> Yeah. So, the I guess the real question is the ones we just got, I'd like to see a plan that we know when we think we would plan to life cycle them out so that we can project. That's really why I'm asking. >> Yep. >> Thank you. And if Gail was still here, still here, >> she might have >> she probably could answer that for you. Okay. Uh, anything else about invoices? Okay. Hear nothing. We have a motion approve the payment of invoices amount of $128,2162. All in favor say I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Okay. Then budget supplements. Need a motion

047to approve the budget supplements in the amount of $22,65.91. >> We'll take Mr. Low on that one. >> Okay, >> Mr. Macau. >> We have five budget supplements. The first in the amount of $19,294 is a WBDE grant for alternative education programs. The next in the amount of $160.51 is an increase in our title 4 aotment. The next in the amount of $2,500 is a WVDE grant for options pathway. The next in the amount of $31.40 is an increase to our NAPE grant for training. And then finally, in the amount of $80, this is proceeds for the Nancy Thomas award um from the estate of Nancy Thomas who is a teacher at the middle school for many years. These supplements total $22,65.91. Any questions about budget supplements? Hear none. We have a motion to approve

048budget supplements amount $22,65.91. All in favor say I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Down the budget transfers. Need a motion approve budget transfers in the amount of 20,584.3. >> So moved, >> Mr. Mac. >> So two transfers. The first in the amount of $20,33.73 is a tan transfer of title one carryover funds to supplies and intervention services. And then finally in the amount of $28030, this is a transfer of title four for training stipens. These two transfers total $20,584.3. >> Any questions on budget transfers? Hear none. We have a motion to approve budget transfers amount of $20,584.3. All in favor say I. >> I. Oppose say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. >> Okay. Down in policies. Need a motion approve the auxiliary coach policy. >> So moved. >> Mr.

049McCallen. So, this is a new policy and per the board's direction last time to draft a policy concerning this, this is what I've come up with. And I'd like to thank um Mrs. Hickman. She helped with this and found some policies in some other counties. Wood County had a policy, Webster County had a policy and um but this was pretty interesting and I learned a little bit with this and Mrs. Cummings reached out. Um, while we found some policies, nobody had a quote unquote dollar coach policy. Okay. So, >> but they do it. >> They do it. Okay. But Mrs. Cummings reached out to him and to workers comp and got a response and there is no benefit in any coverage or anything whatsoever for paying the person a dollar. It is just as good

050not paying them anything. and simply the board appointing them there. Um the appointment is just as good as if they were an employee for our BIM liability insurance and if we only pay them a dollar, they're not getting any workers comp coverage unless they're a fully paid position. So that was interesting. I didn't I didn't realize that, but it does make sense. And that's why while some folks might be paying them a dollar, um if it's not doing anything for us, it only becomes tedious in that you've got to authorize the position. We have to post the position. We have to go through the process of finding the successful applicant and bring the name back to you and put it through board action when there's no really need to do that for a dollar. So

051my policy does not have it paying a dollar but it does as Gail had expressed the need the last time I feel it fills the needs that Gail and the other coaches and athletic directors brought to you. So I I will skip a little bit of this. I don't want to read the whole thing to you, but the purpose of this policy, this policy and the proceeds included within establish regulations regarding the authorization and staffing of unpaid auxiliary coaching positions. And I'll skip the definitions because I think you know what those things are. But it says auxiliary coaching positions in a particular sport will be determined by consideration of factors including the number of student participants, number of teams, instructional need. The school principal will be required to provide to the superintendent in writing the

052need for any auxiliary coaches with justification of the request. If their superintendent is in agreement with the written request of the school principal, the superintendent will request an auxiliary coach position be authorized by the board. After authorization, the auxiliary coach must be recommended by the head coach, the athletic director, the school principal, and the superintendent before a name is brought back to the board for your consideration. And I what the other what Wood County did not have and what Webster I didn't find anything that had this, but I know that the board has worked very hard to clean up all of the coaching things and particularly with the volunteer chaperones to where we have not had a bunch of extra folks floating around and we've not I mean we've done a very good job of

053bringing that back under rain. so that the people that are coaching, we know who they are. They're a paid position. Okay. So, I think if we don't put some guard rails on this, it will be like the Oprah Christmas special where you get a coach, you get a coach, you get a coach, and you get a coach, and we just end up putting an extra auxiliary coach everywhere, which I think could be problematic. If there's inequality, you get into a possible title n issue if things aren't equal. So this is what I proposed to put guard rails on things and rain things in is the the second paragraph from the bottom. Auxiliary coaches are not to be used in a way that disrupts or displaces the duties and responsibilities of the head coach or assistant

054coaching positions. Their role as an auxiliary coach must be clearly defined in the school principal's request for and justification of the needed position. Auxiliary coaches are to be utilized for a specific and finite period of time within the sports season that meets the needs described in the initial request and not simply be an extra coach for the entire season. Okay, Gail brought forth some very good examples of why we may need to have an auxiliary coach. If you recall, she brought up co cross country where we've got a wide variety of kids running in different places and there's no way that the coach running with them or bicycling with them um by themselves could supervise all of those kids. Okay, they would be an auxiliary coach needed for a finite period of time to do

055something specific. This person would meet that need. Okay. If Gail, for instance, has an assistant coach position that doesn't get filled and no applicant bids on it and she's got somebody that can't commit to the time frame of the duties of the whole season for the assistant coach, but they could help on Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays. Okay, again, that's filling a specific need for a finite period of time and not just an extra coach all season long. And I think there were some other things thrown around in there. Okay. I can think of some volunteer chaperones and things have helped with volleyball. They've had somebody really tall come in and do blocking and they the tall person blocked and did that. Again, they're filling a specific need and they're only there for a finite period of

056time. Oh, I know what it was. They brought up wrestling. Say we have kids at the WSAZ wrestling tournament. We only have three paid coaching positions, but we've got kids wrestling on four different mats in four different places. If they had an auxiliary coach, they could have that person. They're they're there. They're helping the to coach the kid that's on the fourth mat where we don't have a paid co head coach or assistant. It's for a specific need for a finite period of time. And I think those two things is going to number one, it's going to help if we need somebody to help out, it's going to allow us to do that, but it's going to also curtail every coach requesting an extra auxiliary coach because I'm not going to call anybody out, but

057I think I've overheard some conversations with some coaches going on and basically any coach anywhere said, "Well, I don't really need it, but if they're going to offer it, I'm going to get one." Or something along those lines. It needs to be more more than just wanting an extra auxiliary coach to have another person. >> There needs to be a specific defined need and it doesn't need to be for all season long. That's my two cents. So, the last bit of this just has everything that a coach has to go do. They've got to have the SSAC stuff. They've got to have a background check, first aid, and WBDE form 39 if they are not a professional person. So, same credentials as any other coach. >> So, there's not going to be a dollar. >>

058No dollar. The board would just appoint them as auxiliary coach. called the big beautiful buck deal. >> The the buck deal. Well, that does have a nice ring to it. >> I do have some questions on it. I'm just reading over this to make it it it sounds like it's like the very beginning says auxiliary coaching positions in particular sport will be determined by consideration of factors including the students and so forth. The school principal will be required to provide the superintendent. Shouldn't it be saying that a coach should come to the superintendent first and then so that you know it sounds like >> if the coach has a need they're going to come to their principal and say hey like the cross country coach I don't have enough folks to supervise these kids when

059they're running then the principal is going to write up that present it to me and then I'm going to bring it to you >> right I just I just thought it sounded more like that you know it was up to the principal to decide if Well, if the the principal >> the principal is going to have to be willing to articulate >> from the coach th this is this is what my coach needs and this is why they need it. >> Okay. Just want to make sure that's clear because it kind of sound like it was more on the principal, you know, then come to you because then saying about a coach requesting to the principal. >> Well, I can maybe change the language and make that clear. Any other questions? >> Yeah, another question

060on this. So, would would this allow if a coach had a a recurring issue uh to have that almost like uh on a substitute list? Well, I think if the if the co >> like if they knew that we're going to need it for >> Yes. I think I mean the whole season the the only caveat that I had in there if we don't put some specific time frame everybody's going to want an extra person for the whole season and maybe not need them for that. But if I'm the wrestling coach and I know I've got three tournaments that there's going to be four mats and I've only got three coaches, I know that I would need it for all of those dates. Or I know if I'm a basketball coach and I know that

061rebounds are an issue and I've got somebody that has expertise in that, they could come in for so many weeks here, so many weeks there or or back as needed. But um they could define the time the time frame of their need in a specific way any way that they wish. >> So if they wanted them the whole season, that's all I have to say because >> if they wanted them from the whole season, they would have to be able to articulate what the specific need is that they're going to need them. >> And it could be from one thing to the next, you know. So, I think a way that they would definitely need somebody for the whole season would be if they've got an assistant coaching position that goes unfilled and nobody's willing

062to bid on it. >> But what I don't want is every coach everywhere needs an extra coach all season long. I think is going to be problematic. >> Yeah. Need to justify why they need the person, >> right? I mean, if I was cross country coach and I needed my kids were running, I would probably need that person almost every night. Yeah. >> Because my kids are out. That's what we do. We go out and run. >> So, if they're going to provide some safety, some supervision, that would probably end up being >> Well, somebody would get hurt in the back, you know. >> Yeah. They they would just need to be able to spell that out and articulate it. Yes. >> Yeah. Other questions? Mr. Ken, I think it's pretty good policy. Um, so

063those people work on it had worked on it. We appreciate that. Uh, what who second that mo or who made the >> who? I did. >> Okay. Really what I should have said, Mr. Stewart was um auxiliary coach policy uh for 10day uh comment period. Are you okay if that's how we >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Okay. Other questions because it does need to go out and see what our coaches think about it. They might think it's terrible or >> we we'll find out. Huh. And um within the motion, you understand what Mr. Yes. >> Stewart was saying that might be a different tried to clarify that language before we put it out. >> So, we have a motion to approve the auxiliary coach policy as amended by Mr. Stewart for 10day uh comment period.

064Any questions? Hear none. All in favor say I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Okay. Down to resignations. Leave absence. Um, need a motion to approve the resignation of Emma Walker as assistant volleyball coach for county middle school effective February 12th, 2026. >> So move. >> So her letter was in your packet. I appreciate the coaching job that she has done for us and um just wanted to put that out there and say that. and um sad to see her hang that up, but I understand as as things come up in life, we've got to make changes. But um appreciate the job that she's done. >> Any questions hearing? None. We have a motion to approve the resignation of Emma Walker as assistant volleyball coach War County Middle School effective February

06512th, 2026. All in favor say I. I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. A motion approve the retirement resignation of Andrea Bailey, project aware coordinator effected June 30th, 2026. >> So move, >> I would like to take a moment and just read this letter in its entirety. Um, I had the good fortune of hiring Andrea. I was brand new principal um at War County Middle School and M Mr. Meds stole the wonderful counselor that was there to come over to the board office to work for him, Angie Demo. And so I was a brand new principal with no assistant principal and out without a counselor. And the first hire that I made was Andrea Bailey and she she was um a very good hire. But in her letter, she has very

066gracious things to say about War County Schools and her time here. And if it would be okay with the board, I'd like to quickly read this. >> I have no problem. >> Says, "Dear Mr. Macauan, please accept this letter as a notification of my retirement from War County Schools effective June 30, 2026. It has been a privilege to work in this district for the past 18 years. Since beginning my journey here in 2008, this school system has been far more than just my place of employment. It has been my second home. I had the privilege of working at the middle school until 2023, and those years helped to shape me both professionally and personally. Throughout my time here, I have been especially grateful for the opportunity to support the mental health and well-being of our

067students. Being part of a school system that recognized the importance of helping students not only academically but also emotionally has been meaningful work and something I will always value. It was especially meaningful to me that Mr. Macauan was the principal who hired me and now serves as superintendent and I also appreciate that Mr. Mets, who was the superintendent at the time, is now serving as the board president, was part of that beginning as well. Having that kind of continuity over the years, has meant a great deal to me. This district holds an even deeper meaning to me as both of my daughters grew up within these same walls. to serve the same school that helped shape their lives and futures has been one of my greatest honors and I've been fortunate to experience this community

068not only as an employee but also as a parent and that is something that I will always always cherish. Thank you for allowing me to be part of something so special and I will always carry this school system in my heart. I am happy to assist in any way to help make this transition as smooth as possible. With sincere gratitude, Andrea Bailey, and um I wish her all the very best in her retirement and it has been my pleasure to work with her in in a number of different capacities over the years. So, we'll miss her. >> Comments? We will miss her. She truly uh uh you know, you get those employees that come around that that uh are ingrained in the system and if it was about War County Schools, Andrea has always been

069about it. So, we do appreciate all the work and her effort and her time and wish her good things in retirement. She'll love it. I can I can tell her that for sure. >> I have heard good things about it, I must say. Any other question or comments hear? None. We have a motion to accept the retirement resignation of Andrea Bailey, project aware coordinator effective June 30th, 2026. All in favor say I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Congratulations, Andrea. Okay, we're down to number three. Need a motion to accept the resignation of Mary Beth Mcclo as our perk uh coordinator. That's the parent education resource center coordinator effective at the end of the 2526 school year. >> Mr. Macau, >> I'll say Mary Beth is another one. I >> I'm trying to

070think back how long she's been in that and it's been a very very long time. >> So, this is not a full-time position. This is something that we just contracted out so many hours per week, but I think she's done this for about as far back as I can remember and has done a fantastic job with it. So, um I appreciate the job that she's done with that and I wish her well as she moves on into retirement from it and doing something else. >> Yeah, I I agree with you there, Mr. McCallander. I can tell you there was times as a principal and as a superintendent that I would have a parent come to me and have a concern that um they might not just wanted me to deal with. Okay. And Mary Beth

071was that person that we could send that parent to. She had the resources. She was knowledgeable. She was kind. And uh those parents got their their uh issues taken care of. she would come back and and go to the principal or whoever and those issues were taken care of. We truly uh I always knew that if it come through Mary Beth it was going to be okay and and we appreciate all the effort she has put into our students and her parents and her parents. Any other comments hear? None. We have a res we have a motion to accept the resignation of Mary Beth Mcclo uh Perk Center. That's parent education resource center coordinator effective at the end of the 2526 school year. All in favor say I. >> I. Say nay. Eyes have it.

072Motion carries. Okay. Need a motion to approve Gary Moore's maintenance foreman effective March 4th, 2026. >> So move. >> M. So, as you recall, we did make a change to this posting and we took out the electrician portion of that and the safety responsibilities. And I'm happy to bring a name back to that amended posting with Gary Moore. He has uh been in maintenance for some time and very happy that he bid on this and I think he will do a good job for us in this position. >> Any questions? What does that maintenance foreman does that include? They would still be doing maintenance work just >> so they would be doing maintenance work too, but they will be also kind of in charge of the other maintenance things and checking on um the work

073that the other maintenance folks are doing as well. >> And what now if I just trying to remember from the last time are we going to hire out then the electrician part? the electrician part. Um we have guys that do some of that, but if it's beyond the scope of what our maintenance folks can do, we have already been contracting out um in the past year um like Curtis was a certified electrician that could do that work. Yeah. >> But since he has retired, um we if it's a project bigger than what our folks can do, we get a quote and contract that out with somebody else. >> Thank you. Any other questions hearing? None. We have a motion to approve Gary Morris maintenance form in effective March 4th, 2026. All in favor say I.

074>> I. >> Oppos say nay. I'm going to be a nay on this. Um, so that motion does carry and Sherry, if you'll part me for a nay. It has nothing to do with Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore is one a very dear friend of mine. uh very dear friend. But as I said before, um until we make our principles 261, I'm not going to vote on 261 contract uh for people that work within the building with the principal. Principal needs to be there, too. My feelings and my feelings only. Um but I do have that vote as you guys do. Okay, so we're down to number two. Um but truly nothing with Mr. more. He He's a He'll do us a fantastic job. >> Well, at least you're being consistent. >> Yeah. I want to

075see principles have 261. Okay. >> It's not your first time. >> Yeah. Okay. Need a motion to approve Melissa Dodson to substitute aid effective upon completion of her contract. So, >> Mr. Macallen. >> So, her application is in your packet. This is a name we know. She was a bus driver for us as a subbus driver. um she has uh done the application to get on as a substitute aid as well. So happy to add her in that capacity. We could use more subs in the various positions. So happy that she's willing to take that on. >> Questions here? None. We have a motion to approve Shayla Cassell as substitute aid. I'm sorry. >> No, wrong one. M >> I moved one two down then. Okay. We have a motion to approve Melissa Dodson as

076a substitute aid effect upon completion of her contract. All in favor say I. >> I. Post say nay. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Now we'll get to Shayla Cassell. Need a motion to approve Shayla Cassell as substitute aid effect upon completion of her required new hire paperwork. >> So moved. M. So, we have put out like sub substitute service positions and we've had some people in with new people with interest in that and um Shayla is one of those and you'll notice the next thing down she has also put in to be a substitute custodian for us as well. So, happy to add some additional folks to the substitute roles. >> Questions? >> I've got one. It just came to mind because uh do we have any type of thing where the lowest person on

077a substitute like for instance we been a time or two maybe we haven't had a bus run because we didn't have no bus drivers. >> Y >> is there some way that we could say you know say somebody has to do it like the lowest person on the title pole? >> Not when it comes. So the bus driver thing is a specific thing. So, if we are asking a bus driver to um run an extra route to a ball game or something that's not in their contract, we cannot force the bus driver to do that. But the flip side of that, if we've got 13 bus routes and somebody retires and we have hire a new bus driver in, okay, those routes get bid out and somebody's got to take one, right? So the least

078senior bus driver is going to wind up with the route that nobody else wants. But specifically to your question with like the extracurricular okay >> things it would be like uh with the bus driver it's the the ball games and the other routes. The other thing would be we've got a wrestling tournament at the high school Saturday. I need a custodian to come in and work overtime for that wrestling tournament. I've got to offer it to people in order of their seniority, but I can't make anybody take it that if they don't want to take it. >> Okay. >> Does that answer your question? >> Yeah, that's that's basically it. I was just curious about aids, but then when I come to mind, you know, you know, the bus driver, you know, >> if it's

079overtime or something extra >> that's not in their contract explicitly, we can't make them do it. But we offer that out to the most senior person first and then go down list to see who wants it. >> Yeah. I think out in private industry um and I know Mr. Stewart you worked out I think you know they have like what they call forced overtime to where they could make you >> right >> but we don't uh >> well doesn't the need's there what you know what do we do? >> So I will we don't fill it. Well, >> yeah, >> I will put that I will tell you that we've done something here with Mrs. Cummings and Mr. Smith to maybe give the bus drivers some more incentive to want to do that. And I'll

080have Mr. Smith touch on that. Yeah. >> Um when he's here with the attendance thing next week. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Okay. We are still on the substitute aid one, right? Yeah. >> Right. >> Okay. We have a motion to approve Shayla Cassell as substitute aid effect upon completion of required new paper hire work. All in favor say I. >> I. Both say nay. Eyes have it. And I'm probably mispronouncing her name, so if she's watching, please forgive me. Uh, now I need a motion to approve Shayla Cassell as substitute custodian effective upon completion of her required new paper hire new hire paperwork. So move >> same deal right >> same deal >> questions for Miss Macau >> hearing none we have a motion approve Shayla Cassell as substitute custodian

081effect upon completion of her new hire paperwork all in favor say I >> I post say nay eyes have it Sherry do you know how that first name is pronounced >> Shayla okay thank you um okay we're down to new business need a motion to authorize a cook position for War County Primary Center, Warham Middle School for the school year 2627. >> So moved. >> Okay. So this >> so >> is next. Go ahead, Mr. >> Okay. So to save one additional transfer letter said it was completely legal for us to do this way and I did it for the sole reason to save one less transfer letter. Um Chris Malonus is wanting to restructure a cook position. Right now we have a halftime at the primary center, halftime at the high school. He would

082like to do away with that position. So instead of giving that person a letter of transfer, I'm asking you to authorize this. The job will get posted and filled and then when that job gets posted and filled, I will come back and ask the board to abolish the vacant halftime halftime. Okay. So, we're making an assumption then that the person that is >> I I am, but I don't I don't know that anybody at the high school is interested in bidding on that. >> Either way, it's going to >> either way either way it's going to hash out. And I I thought that would just be since we can do that do it this way, I thought it would be one less transfer letter and it's less stressful for folks folk when folks see me

083walking around those schools with envelopes in my hand, they just kind of >> you're nobody's friend. >> You're a little I'm nobody's friend. That's a kind of way to say it. >> So just so I'm sure about this, we are not going up a cook. We are not. >> It'll come back to us to abolish it will after this. Okay. Because I'll be honest with you, Mr. Macau. >> Uh I was I was going to either vote no or I was going to ask to table this. Okay. >> Until after >> Yep. >> till after uh rift season, but if you got it figured out, yes, >> we'll go with you. >> Okay. If it doesn't figure out, then I don't know where we'll go. But if you're confident, I'm confident. Yeah, >> I I

084am. >> Okay. Other questions about this position. >> It's a good way to do it, John. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, we have a motion to authorize a cook for W County Primary Center, Warham Middle School for school year uh 2627. So, they won't start until August. >> Correct. All in favor say I. >> I. Oppose say nay. Eyes have it. Motion counts or motion carries. It counts too. Okay. Volunteer and chaperoons. We have none. We are down to board concerns. We're going to start with Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore, thank you for bringing that to us or to Mr. Macallen. That that was a that was a good recognition. >> Not this time. >> M. >> Not this time. I I did a little bit beforehand, but I'm going to ask again. Our basketball season's about

085over. There's been two games here in the last, you know, month that has really got hairy and so to speak, it the crowd was getting out of hand. I think we need somebody there. You know, Gail got up and helped take a couple out and she said it wasn't her job, but she did it. Um, you know, it sometimes gets really, you know, uh, we have in a football game and the home and away is so far apart they can't hear each other, but when you're that close together and they're not agreeing with, you know, things get rough and and uh, I can see things getting out of hand. Well, they were getting out of hand. That's why the the refs kicked three people out this last time. And I think we I think it'd

086be nice, you know, I I'd talked to Mrs. Smith about it once and she said, "Well, I always before a game even start, she looks for somebody to pick out to be the bouncer. We need somebody that is a bouncer." Okay. >> Yeah. I'm not We can invite law enforcement there, but with their schedules and things and since particularly we don't have a state police barracks anymore, right? Um, we can invite them and ask them, but they are under no obligation to to come if their schedule doesn't allow it. But I think it does nothing ventured, nothing gained. It doesn't hurt to ask. >> No. Well, we don't they show up with the football games. >> Typically, they always come to the home football games. >> You know, there was a time, Miss Stewart, I

087can remember that. Um, I mean, if if we have somebody there to help our administration, you know, Eric, if it's at the it be Eric and Die and and Dr. Blake and the middle school will be um Sandy and Gail and and uh I can't get his name. >> Nathan. >> Yeah, Nathan >> Edwards. >> Um, it has to be a school person. We can't just name somebody out of the crowd to be uh to help us with that. And in the past we've done that, right? >> And I can remember times where Don Meyers, I'd say to Don, "Don, will you turn up?" Okay, I mean, Don Don, you know, is an imposing. And that's where we're at. Okay. And we used to always ask Mike Shepard, okay? You know, Mike was our fallback.

088Mike, >> you know, you gonna come tonight? You know, we know that Mike and Mike was always there. >> Okay. So, that might be something that we look at. We might even have to take a look at sweeten the pop for him a little bit because you're right and if you look at the stuff on on the Facebook and stuff I mean it is nuts. >> Okay. And and we're we're not that far away from it. I mean from it being nuts for us. >> Yeah. Well, as some of you heard that there there was the people from the crowd going down to the girls and telling them to knock them down >> and you know and the coaches wasn't you know wasn't correcting them and they were just coming down and telling them and

089you know I mean it's on video I show you if anybody want to see it but you know it was deliberately getting really rough and once that happened things really did break out and That's when three people got kicked out of the gymnasium. >> And probably been should have been several more. >> Yeah. Any, you know, if you go over to the to the bench, you know, that that becomes if we have parents going to our bench, we take care of war counting. Parents shouldn't be going to the bench. Okay? I mean, it shouldn't ever happen. Okay? Those things are taken care of after >> the game's over, right? >> Okay. Um, so I I don't know if there's someone we could look at, you know, if our principles feel that they need that extra

090help. >> Um, >> well, it could be good to talk to them and see, but you know, I I know and you could ask anybody that's been to the games. It gets >> I mean, it gets nervous. >> Yeah. >> You know, I mean, not not just bad, but you get to be nervous. >> That is that is definitely a possibility, too. Okay, we'll we'll throw that one in. Mr. Macau doesn't have enough to do. It's ripping ripping trans. >> Well, we got a whole year. It's about over. We got >> We'll give him some more to do here. >> But yeah, that might be Mr. Low. That might be >> something on this. I've been in wrestling. really heated stuff. I mean, really >> when you're on top of the, you know, like I

091said, football is sort of like, you know, the dangerous times are when they're going out of the field to the locker room at halftime, at the end of game, at the beginning of game. Besides that, we got that space and those fences. Okay. Um, but basketball, wrestling, I mean, you're on top of the people, especially wrestling because wrestling tournament, they don't they don't sit in the bleachers. Okay. >> No, they don't. >> You know, if basketball, you got to sit in the bleachers. You can't be on the court. >> So, it's something to look at. >> Mr. I will check into the possibility of uh what we would need to do to hire an offduty officer. >> Yeah, I would bring it up, but it's just it seems to be getting worse and it's, you

092know, I just >> fear for the you know, the kids and actually this last game it did come down to the kids. I mean, and I've also seen the other where the kids start reacting. If the if the refs don't take care of it, they're going to take care of it on their own. And then, you know, it's I mean, go crazy. That can't be. But the part about >> the people actually getting down and telling the the players to do stuff or, you know, really where they have to kick somebody out of the gym, it could get very bad. Yeah, it'll, you know, it might come to that point that where the benches are that nobody's able to sit behind the benches. Everybody has to be on the other side of the court. >>

093Well, and then anybody moved that way, you know, that you're not supposed to be there. Don't want to do that. >> There were a few times that I had to throw somebody out of the middle school during my time there that it was so egregious that I then asked Mr. Mets, superintendent, to ban them from school for the rest of the year. And it didn't happen very often, but it happened a few times over the years and we did. >> Yeah. Because we can ban them, >> right? But yeah, >> if there are, >> right? >> But sometimes it just, you know, like I said, it's just not getting just said, "Oh, it's bad." But it's got really nervous to see what was going on. You know those people always come back and I I

094I think almost to a person come back and say, "Wow, that's not who I am." Yeah. >> Okay. You know, apologize. >> You know that they it just it just takes when there are kids sometimes it takes it takes us over. Okay. And we do silly things. Yeah. >> Yep. >> Mark, you have anything? >> No. >> Okay. Um I I really don't have anything besides that. Um I know Sherry's asking about the regional meetings. If you get a chance to go to that regional meeting, it'll be down at WVUP. They will have supper. Uh it will be worth going to because it'll be after the legislators are out of um out of Charleston and they will provide us with all that new stuff. And there is some new stuff. Okay. Uh, so I encourage

095you if you can to go to that. So besides that, I'm good. Mr. McCall, you good? >> I'm good. I will tell you next board meeting there's going to be a lot on there, so you might want to bring a snack. >> Yeah, important stuff. >> Well, do we >> not that this is an important >> Will we be meeting in the new one? >> Well, it so the painting is about done. The floor is getting put in there. It's just going to be a matter of getting the internet in there. So, potentially >> might be in there next month. So, I mean, it's coming right along. It's just going to be >> um and potentially we could move the board meetings in there as long as the board room is done and the internet

096is functional. If the offices aren't all done, we could still move the board meetings in there. So, um I foresee sometime maybe by the end of this month, early next month, we could be moving the board meetings in there. When we get it done, we will um notify everybody and maybe put something in the paper that our board meetings venue has changed. >> Okay, that being said, motion
