[music] >> [music] [music] >> Good evening everyone and welcome to the big house on the big hill where we have a greater Boston League matchup taking place for you and we are in the 11th hour of the regular season. We're almost there at the finish line, Justin. And this is the 11th hour of the regular season. We're almost there at the finish line, Justin. And this is in fact the last home game of the year. I'm Josh Delgazo. This gentleman is
Justin Han. and we are looking forward to bringing you yet another basketball production. Justin, we have the Rever Patriots coming into this one at 4 and13. Do not let that record deceive you and don't let that previous match up with the Crimson Tide deceive you. You're going to look as you see on that page, there's some notes there that are going to strike the eye, especially with some of their recent losses to some very good teams. So, tell us a little bit about these Patriots of Ree. >> All right, Josh. So, like you said, they are a 4 and13 team. You know, they've been on quite the losing streak. The last win that they had was back in January 12th, about a month ago, if not exactly a month ago, excuse me. Uh, but I
tell you, they've been doing a great job because give it like two weeks ago, they took on the Chelsea Red Devils, the Red Hut Red Devils, and it was 53 to 51. Now, in comparison, you know, the last time that we took on the uh Patriots, it was 75 to 38. But I'm going to stop talking because my good friend Chris Miller is going to tell us our starters. [cheering] Musk starting guard is guard number two Charlie the junior guard number one [applause] starting forward junior number 30 [applause] senior guard number zero [music] and senior guard number five Isaiah and now for Oh, [cheering] the junior number two number 14 [clears throat] number one and [cheering] your senior captain guard number three San [cheering] Captain number four. At this time we ask everyone to please
rise and move your head of tonight's national >> [music] >> Heat up here. [music] >> [music] >> Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] >> I love it. >> All right, Justin. Well, that was another outstanding introduction on the court from our guy, public address announcer Chris Miller, doing this for well, actually hopefully not the final time, the final regular season home game. But Justin, there is a chance that this Crimson Tide team gets a home game. And I can jump in and tell you a little bit about what the Crimson Tide have done. Well, what they simply done was last game, they punched their ticket to the big dance. They picked up their 11th win. And in a 22 game season, the magic number is getting to that 500 mark.
So, if nothing else, this team has already got 11 wins. We're still hoping they add a few more in that basket. And if they do, right now, if you look at the jockeying and that tournament seating position, they have a chance to host a tournament game. We would love for nothing more for that to happen and that actually would would date back about five years ago pre-Jerry Boyce at the head coaching helm since this has last happened. So what a great job coach has done. And you were telling us a little bit about re that what you would say in the last game with Everett it was a blowout. It was a 7538 game and I like how you touched upon what they did with Chelsea. In fact it was two games with Chelsea. They
they recently lost by two points and then when they played them the other time it was by five. And what's more Justin? And I'll give you one more nugget that you were going to touch upon before we sent it down to the court. They lost to some of them by one point in their last game. Well, some of them beat them by a similar score of what ever did the first time. So, that's something to keep an eye on. So, even though ever did run this team to the woodshed, this this re team can be they can be a little uh jackal and hide, if you will. They can play some team stuff. >> Yeah, Josh. I mean, I it's really surprising to see a team have that big of a turnaround. Like I I
mean obviously you're not making the playoffs at this point in the game, but you know to come in and do it for the seniors on your squad, do it for your teammates, just put in that maximum effort every game. It just shows that this team has the heart to win. No doubt. No doubt. And they just get the first two points of the board. That was number one, Chris Renos, who actually buried the layup. but giving way to another guy who we know can heat up in a hurry and he loves that spot in the floor. We always say it. That's Christian Vasquez none other coming off a 17-point game. Listen Josh and I say it every time. If you're going to get anyone that is inside the paint and just do a little fadeaway,
you want to see number one Christian Vasquez get the ball. Underneath the net, a little bit of a different story. I me personally I'd rather see Samir King D Costa. Uh but Christian Vasquez and King Dosta two people to look out for as well as pretty much everyone on our starting lineup here. I mean eight Muserude is an absolute animal and Alendorf frequently becomes the lead score. I mean you you just nailed it across the board. you touched on all the strengths and all the different phases that these kids and in and their weaponry bring to the table, right? That's an arsenal, a full cabinet of skills that come with all those players you mentioned and especially touching on the last one, Jaden Alendor. The job that he's been able to do pairing up with
Christian Vasquez coming into the season, Vasquez we knew was going to be a top scorer. Well, Alendor has rivaled that and that is a great thing to have on your team. You have a one-two scoring punch that can take over quarters and therefore take over games. >> Yeah. And again, Alendor only a junior. He's the future leader of this Crimson Tide squad, and he just does a phenomenal job. One person that you notice that we didn't touch upon is uh that's going to be number three, Jaden Sanchez. But let me tell you, Jaden Sanchez also an absolute animal, but more on the defensive end. Always getting the steers, steals, always getting the rebounds. He's the player that you want to be there when the play needs to be made. >> Absolutely well said. Sanchez does
a lot of the little things that don't go in the stat sheet, but he's always present. There's a reason why he starts and he's a two-year starter. He started the last two years his junior and now his senior year. So, you don't earn those minutes on a coach boy team by accident. He's out of bounds. He stepped on the baseline. >> Yeah, it's going to be number one Chris Renos, if I'm saying that correctly. >> That's Yeah, I I go with Renos and I have him for the layup on their uh their first basket. And we got Vasquez on the elbow jumper. So that's our two that's our two to two right now to start this game. >> Excuse me if I do pronounce your name wrong. Uh >> I only do this for a
living. [laughter] >> You know our motto. We say it with conviction. No question marks in our game. Oh, and there's no question mark there with Jay Nelson doing it. But I tell you what, Josh, big props to Rivera Athletics putting their roster in numerical order from a broadcasting perspective. Goatated. It's It's No, really. Goatated is right. And thank you, Re. And I'm glad you pointed that out. You'd say, "Well, don't you get that every time?" Oh, no. No. It's actually few and far between. We get the alphabeticals. We get the I don't even know what it is half the time. It's by height, maybe by by uh you know, it's it's it's out of control. Give us the numericals, please. Re big props to you for that. >> I tell you, Josh, I like what
I'm seeing from both sides of the ball right now. The ball's flowing. It's evenly moving throughout both teams. Both teams has a couple of uh couple of scores and a couple of steals and it's going to keep this game interesting. The quarter is almost gone there. We 4 minutes 36 seconds in and I feel like all we did was do the opener. Josh, >> I know it's No, I know. We had so many good nuggets to share and there goes the opener. There goes a wild caram off the off the the rim and that's the King Dosta with the crown going high above the rim. Samir King Dosta has done this all season. He's been terrific. >> Yeah, Joe, I tell you, Brian David's definitely going to want that one back. He made a throw,
accidentally hit the rim. Samir King Dosta, he's he's going to come up and he'll take those shots all day, every day. Like I said, if there's someone you want under the bucket, King Dosta. >> And that's why it's such a good balance, right? Because you have Alendor and Vasquez who can score both around the perimeter and especially the way Alendor can attack the rim. But then you have King Dosta who really he does he controls that painted area. He does it. He does it both on the glass and with his touch around the rim. So, he gives you a lot of balance. And I tell you what else just happened. You know what else just happened? We had a substitution. We had our first package sub of the game. It's a duo. It's Nelson squared.
Oh, you love to see it when the Nelson's come in. Josh, you'll love to see it. Nathaniel and Emanuel Nelson. The Nelson to Nelson connection, as we like to say. both. You're going to find them open in the three-point position. And let me tell you, we're about to see the game start to take off. >> Oh, I love it. I'm always here. We're always here for the Nelson. It's one of our favorite times. >> And again, you're seeing that feistiness from this Patriot team. Do not look at that 4 and13 mark and take them for granted. This is a 6 to6 battle right now, making us all realize like, hey, this is why you you play the games on court, not on paper. Yeah, Josh. And we said the same thing about the Polar Bears
the other day. The Polar Bears played their absolute hearts out. Their record did definitely did not, you know, do them justice. But that just goes to show you in the in this league in this day and age if you're not almost perfect. You're pro you it's going to be tough. It could be anyone's night on any given night on any given night. And the crowd getting into that one as that shot just reached the highest point of gravity and did not hit anything else. It went out of bounds. And that Crimson Tide crowd's going to let you hear it. >> Yeah, listen that there's a big crowd out for it. Again, like you said, could be the last home game of the season, could be the last home game of the regular season. Uh going
into the postseason, we don't know yet. We'll let you guys know, obviously, but you'll love to see it, Josh. We do it. And it's been a it's been real fun. uh calling these games with you, Justin, and our crew. This has been a lot of fun bringing this home. Uh we we've we love our audience. We're only as strong as our audience, and it's you who makes this happen. So, we're really having a lot of fun. And again, Coach Boyce and his team much to do with the job they've done and the product that we see here on the court. But we don't want to give out too many roses yet. We still have a big game to win here. We're looking to get that home tournament game and it's going to happen with adding
more wins to that 11 and seven record. >> And I'll tell you what, if King Dosta keeps doing what he does best, we're going to be looking pretty good to get that win. >> Yeah. Well, one of the things I love about King Dosta, and you've touched upon this in other games, King Dosta, he works so well down low, and obviously when you're aggressive like that, you're working in that painted area, you often get trips to the foul line. A lot of big guys don't shoot the foul the foul shots very well. King Dost is one of the best three uh free throw shooters for the Crimson Tide. You just saw him two for two right there. And there's a traveling violation going the other way. Yeah, that was a great defensive play by Everett.
This is exactly the momentum you need. There's 3 minutes 34 seconds left in the quarter. You're going to want to start racking up the points now because if the last few games from River is anything to go by, they're coming for it and they're on a revenge tour. They really are. The rea revenge tour is real right now. >> I'm looking at them again. Decent size, right? >> Yeah. >> You got some guys that I I think probably played football. You got some some well-built kids out there. Good size down low. You >> know what I did like seeing Josh? We saw Dr. Braa here tonight. Normally we know you're watching the broadcast and we know you're watching the rebroadcast rocks, but we saw Dr. Braa here and you know the the newest principal, the
newest addition, you know, he's in his first year and I think he's doing a phenomenal job with all the new policies, everything. We always hear him over the loudspeaker and what's up, brother? Yeah, I know Dr. Brona, big fan of the broadcast and we're big fans of you. always appreciate seeing the smile that you bring on the hallways and always coming into our studio talking to us. So, lot lot of props out to Dr. Braga uh principal here at the high school. >> It's Devin Barry at the line [applause] for the Patriots here. So, he missed the first one there. >> Yes, he did. >> He's a 6'1 in senior. goes one for two. Hey, now you take one. Yeah, I'll take the 50%. >> So, this is an 8-7 Crimson Tide lead. Three-minute mark
left in the first quarter. Uh, more another substitution came into the tide. One of our favorite seniors, Benji Joseph is in the game. >> Hey, Benji Joseph, another person that you want to see doing stuff on the defense. Not saying that he can't play the offense, but right now I tell you the the offense, the name of the game for the offense for the Crimson Tide is to get it to the Nelson's, Vasquez, King Dosta, and of course, Alson. Oh, no doubt. Again, quite a variety. So, that's why you're seeing the success that the Crimson Tide have had. You just named four players that can really go on tears and fill it up. And how about that for a tear? That's going to be number five. Isaiah Yanos. >> Yanos. Yanos. Yeah. No, Giannos will
go. I like that. Isaiah Yanos. >> Three-pointer is good. Patriots have the lead. >> Yeah. Again, like I said, they're on the revenge tour, Josh. And it's clearly showing like and we we said it. They're not going to make the tournament, right? But they're still going to finish the season strong. And that is really really you'll love to see that. >> And then that builds for their future as well. And a quick correction on my end, you you astutely named five scorers for the Crimson Tide. Well, I my math was a little short. I did say the Nelson. >> The Nelson. So, exactly. You know, maybe you know, Nathaniel and Emanuel. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry, >> but you're going to be Nelson squared in my heart for >> always Nelson squared. So, uh but
yeah, that's actually five five bodies that make up that offensive scoring prowess that you astutely brought up. So, here we go. uh out of bounds. So, the Patriots right now kind of they got momentum on their side a little bit. Crowd is definitely in this one. We got a really good crowd on hand. And of course, Ree the short drive away battle on Elm Street, if you will. >> I know. The bakery the half moon. >> I mean, whoever whoever wins has to buy the other team half moon, right? >> Oh, it's great. It'll be a full moon if that happens. Hey, tomorrow's Friday the 13th. >> I mean, it's just a date, right? >> Yeah. Right. Uh-huh. Eight Mus made that last layup for the tide to tie this up at 10. We love
when eight Museroo gets it going. Eight Mus what a leader. You know, he always runs the offense and he he's he always seems to be there when the Tide need it the most. I I I I can think of a few times in particular where he's made the steal on defense, ran it down the court, got the layup, and got the win. Yeah. No, he Listen, we'll say it every broadcast because it's just the truth. Eight moose root does it all. Daniel Nelson with the steel. >> Great steal. That's David Xavier, the senior. Oh, that had a good look to it. Just rims out. Number zero, David Xavier. We've seen him get some minutes throughout the season. >> Yeah. Doesn't get too much time on the court. However, he made the varsity team. And I'll
tell you, Boyce doesn't mess around. >> No, you you again, you don't make the team by accident. And that wasn't by accident. That was a really good three-pointer of the second one by Isaiah Yanos. >> Yeah, Yanos is on a on a tear on a hot streak and you got to stop it. >> Oh, I you know I thought Yeah, you know, I'm I'm a little further away. I thought Joseph set a nice hard screen. Uh it it it did create a collision, but sometimes a hard screen when you're set does create a collision if the defensive player doesn't see it. But of course, I'll I'll I'll give way to the official that maybe his feet were moving. [cheering] I'm not going to lash too hard in the official, but I thought it was a
good screen by Joseph. >> Yeah. How about that layup by Devin Barry just out. I mean, we say it every time and we're going to say it to you again, Sammy. Give me the bubble. >> Yeah, >> give me the bubble. >> Nelson just had one rim out, so I guess it's equal on both sides. Timmy A. Timmy A. >> I did see assistant athletics director Steve Gallagher. >> I just pointed to him and if he saw me, he probably thought that was weird. >> It looked like he saw me, but that's okay. >> I think he's a contacts guy. He probably can't really recognize me. I probably look like pixels to him anyway. >> So, we're both weird guys. All right. >> Oh, thankfully that rimmed out, >> but not before a three-point Patriots
lead at the end of this first quarter. Justin Josh, we're talking about it and the the record doesn't make sense. No, the record doesn't make sense to me. We know that there's a lot of good teams on uh in this league in Massachusetts, but the way that you're playing right now, the the heart that you have, it's it's incredible. >> Yeah. And again that points we we always say this when a team empties the gas tank like that we we have to give the attention and the kudos to their head coach and clearly David Liry is the guy that's driving the engine for this Patriot team the way they're playing of course sometimes you know things don't go your way obviously a little bit of bad luck there were some lopsided scores in there but
I think that's even more impressive to have a team close to the finish line knowing that there is no there is no second season there is no postseason, you're 4 and 13 and you're playing your best basketball of the season. Now, that speaks to their coach and it speaks to probably some kids that may be coming back. It just again, it builds your future. Even if they're seniors graduating there in that part, that looks pretty good. That's a big thing to have to see your team finish on that high note. So, this is why the Crimson Tide are in one right now. This doesn't I'm sure this doesn't feel anything like it did when it was a 7538 game at Riviera back on January 13th or 12th, whenever it was. They played a month ago.
No, they their last win was January 12th. You said that, but it was back in January at Rev. I'm sure it wasn't a 13-10 game after the first quarter. So, again, long way to go. Let's see if the Tide can put that gas pedal to the floor. They're going to have to right now. But this Patriot team is feeling real good about themselves up three. >> Yeah, it it just absolutely ever. And that's not to say that Everett's not playing well. But right now, I think the name of the game is to stop number five Isaiah Yanos. Uh he's already slammed two threes down. uh clearly going to be a top priority target for the Patriots offense and you got to shut that down. Block him in, block the shot, get some points. No doubt
about it. So, looking for Alindor down low. How about the Patriots defense right now? I mean, anything that the Tide are throwing at them, they're they seem to be one step ahead of them. >> Yeah. No, I it really is. I mean, there's there's really every everything could be said and it's all positive. They're really doing everything right right now. That's going to be out of bounds. That's going to stay down this end of the floor. >> Coach Boyce letting his guys know, listen, got to pick it up here. Get your hands up or we're going to be sitting down. Listen, listen, Josh. If I'm Coach Boyce right now, I'm not pleased with the way that the Tide are playing. You've already, let's face it. Well, you're happy with that. But the last time you
met, you absolutely destroyed the Patriots. And you know, you won Elm Street. Apparently, we're trying to give Elm Street back right now. >> No, no, no. You can't give Elm Street back. So many good shots right there. >> Great job by Aid Mus hitting the deck. And again, he is the one of the leaders of the team. And leaders lead by what, Josh? Example. >> Example. >> Yeah, that was great job by moving the deck. The possession arrow is revers, but not not before your team gets some momentum and gets fired up from that. Crimson tide down by one here. That's no good. Rebound stays with the Patriots. Got to get those. Oh, nope. The steal once again. Jaden Sanchez providing the theft. Nice job by Sanchez. He's the one that made the steal and
got the quick pass out to eight Mus on the last possession. Once again, Sanchez back-to-back steals. Now, these are the things he does that you talked about. He can he can really get it going defensively and really become a thorn in the other team's side. >> Yeah, Josh. And it it doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but like you can't understate the things that Sanchez does to make this offense happen. You know, you got to do things defensively for the offense to take off. Oh, nice spin move by King D Costa. >> Every time King D Costa, every time he's got a bolt in lane, you know, there's bunch of people in front of him, he he doesn't. Where's his crown? Blows my mind. Where's the king's crown? King D Costa. Once again, spin
move off the window. Looking for the old school three-point play >> in traffic. In traffic, Josh, it's insane. I actually like King Dosta to me is the X factor if if he has it going. The Crimson Tide are really tough to beat. >> And that's going to put Everett back on top by two. >> Yes. And that's King Dosta now with with five points, three at the foul line with that basket. So tied up by two. They wanted to get that lead back. Let's see if they can keep it and add to it. Good job defensively by Vasquez getting back, bothering that shot. >> One thing I will say, Josh, is unfortunately we do not have 24 on our list for uh the Patriots. So, we will just be calling him number 24. Number 24.
I can't mispronounce that one. But I tell you what, I know how to pronounce this one. That's Adam 8 Musaroon. A little scoop shot is good. Starting to heat up. And I tell you, Sanchez got hands on that one. You >> kidding me? >> Alsor [screaming] go. That's what we're talking about. >> Are you kidding me? >> Alsidor, man. I'm telling you. And we saw that in the last game as well. Alindor is inhuman. He He's just making the plays. It's It's in traffic. He finds the open lane and just slams it down and then he goes for three the oldfashioned way. Are you joking? I mean, last game we talked about it. There's a look at our top profile, the 6'2 in junior. And I tell you what, no one finishes around the rim
in traffic with a little layer of acrobatics like the man, the myth, the legend known as Jade Nelindor. This is a guy who can get it going. And now the tide starting to rise. >> Just rims out. One of the one of the one of the few things that went wrong for him last game with his 18 points that he had was that he had kind of an off night, especially by his standards at the foul line. >> Yeah, >> cuz he's a great free throw shooter. >> No, he is. And we've seen it time and time again. >> What a great play. Oh, almost went good. A good play is right. You said it. Good. Great shot by a Mus was on target, but just, you know, just a little bit less. It hit
the back of the rim. Eight Muserude. Love seeing it. >> Yeah. I know. Well, that's that's the shot you you you accept that shot every time. It was great ball movement. Eight Musu doesn't take too many threes, but he has a nice shot. He he definitely likes to work more going to the basket, but it was nice also to see him take that shot. And and again, there is such thing as a good miss. It does let the defense know like, hey, this guy this guy will take that shot and he's capable. Love the defense that the Tide showing right now. They're, you know, they're only finding two players open at a time. >> Yeah. Very, very sticky zone the Tides playing in right now. >> And that's what it leads to, Josh. >> Oh,
he took it like a champ. That's good. That was nothing nothing uh nothing egregious about it. >> Just trying to get the ball back. >> Alendor hits the deck quite often. >> You see it almost in every game. You're not going to rush into traffic, find the open lane, and get the layup without hitting the deck a few times. >> He's a slip and slide guy. All right. All right. You get a little downhill all of a sudden. Little little extra water from the garden hose, you're going to go slipping and sliding. >> Oh man. You know, the smartest among us when you're taking sips from the garden knows let the children go first because that first gush of water is [laughter] burning. >> Yeah, that's definitely the uh the mineral based uh you know
been been sitting there a little dysentery and then you get you get the real rush after. Go ahead kids. Go ahead. We'll get we'll get the kids then we'll give the dog and then I'll take it on, you know. >> Yeah. How about the uh Crimson Tide cheerleaders though? >> How about the Crimson Tide cheerleaders? Always doing a great job. They're out there. They're fired up. They got choreographed dance moves. Sometimes they just go on the riff. Who knows? They're always ready. If the music's playing, they're ready. If it's not, they'll make something up. We love our charities. They do a great job under the direction of coach Taylor Leo, of course. But, uh, love our charities. They're a lot of fun. >> Josh, what's going on there in this game? It looked like a
back and forth, but now Everett has had nine unanswered points. >> Yeah. Well, I I think Justin, it simply started the defensive end, that heat started to rise and the tide started to rise. And once that happened, that that good defense led to better offense. And then you're putting you're putting some of the heat on this Patriots team who isn't really going too deep into their bench. So, I think you're seeing that that gas tank maybe go a little quicker to E than you would like if you're coach Larry and his squad. And that's that's what that Crimson Tide defense can do to you. They can overwhelm you. And you saw it now. And that's why they've built up a little bit of a lead. And let's hope they can keep it there. Josh, it
looks like we got a little bit of competition today on the announcing side of things. >> Yeah, I'm glad you I'm glad you pointed that out. And we got a little nugget coming your way at halftime. So, don't go anywhere. But we have our uh we have some of our prized student body here. Some of the very best here at the Big House of the Big Hill with paying some homage to the legendary network we we know and love as ESPN. And you've ever heard of it? >> I don't know if you've ever heard of it. It's kind of a big deal, you know. I don't know if you're a Direct TV guy. Whatever it is, it exists, right? So, we're going to we're going to give you a nice inside look at that at
halftime. So, don't go anywhere. Uh you're in for a treat. >> Oh, hey, Musu with the rebound. You know, he's looking to push. >> Yeah, and more importantly, Josh, it was a clean steal and even more importantly, caught a foul. Hey, Musu. Uh again, he always gives his maximum effort. We've seen what the tide look like when he's out of the game. And I'm not saying that they look terrible, but let's just say I like 8 Moose Rude in the game. >> Yeah, 8 Moose Rude. Uh there's there's nothing he can't do. 5'9 in senior co- captain. He's been uh a starter the last two years, varsity player for the last three. And he came on, he was one of those guys, Justin, in his sophomore year, he started, he was like a papappia, he
was like a half JV, half oity guy. But those minutes continued to go up and towards the end of the season I remember I'm like this kid is terrific. We we need more of this kid and then he immediately took over his junior year and then he's just parlayed that into a big senior season. >> Yeah. Excellent player. And you know what? How about the steal from Alindorf? >> I mean again the defense has changed this game and there's Christian Vasquez. Uh, right now the Tide have 13 unanswered points from the Patriots and it's all happening on the defensive end. Christian Vasquez, not our camera. Are we still in frame? Are we still in shot? Are we good? We're good. Having a little fun here. I was waiting for the wickets. Probably would have went
through my legs, but we're all fired up here at the big house. Got the crowd going. >> Josh, just a little tidbit. Uh, how about the graphics by Jeff Nio today? >> I mean, Jeff Natio, what would we do? This is this is a guy who comes in, brings brings the graphics to the game all the time. The package is real. Jeff Nio, love you, brother. Always doing a great job back there dialing it in. Let me tell you something. That was a nice little floater from Isaiah Yanos. We've seen him bringing the heat from the outside. That time the tear drop came from about 12 ft out. >> He's got eight points. Yeah, Yano's finally ending the Patriot draft. >> That's right. You called it. That was a 130 run. That was the first
point of the quarter. This was a 13-10 Patriot lead at the end of one. Vasquez says, "I got more to add to that." >> Who else to hit a fade away? Who else? >> Vasquez. >> I mean, I can think of a few people on the team, but Vasquez, king of the fadeaway. And this is right now again. So, you're in a uh this is a 15-2 run by the Crimson Tide here in the second quarter. Again, if you're just joining us, this was a Patriot lead at the end of one. It was 13-10 and it's been all Crimson Tide in this second quarter. And again, you can look no further than the defensive pressure that they've brought. And now shots are really starting to fall. King Dosta hits the deck. Nice save by the
big fella, Brian David. Hey, you know, Josh, I'm still wondering where the Patriots from the first quarter went. The first quarter, it looked tight. It looked close. They were even in the lead at the end of the first quarter. And now it seems like something's changed inside them. I don't know what happened. Maybe, you know, Boyce Boyce does do this where he'll let, you know, let the other teams score a bit and then ramp up the defense. I have noticed that. So maybe he just got a very good read and that could have been what that timeout was. Well, I I'm glad you said it right. The boy timeouts definitely there's often a switch that gets flipped. It's I mean he tell he goes to the breaker box and all of a sudden, you know,
you're going to the other other side where you have the 200 amps and he just starts he gets it going. So he he's very good at at understanding, okay, you're not locked in right now. Take a seat. You'll get back in when you get locked in. We're going to find someone that can do it and then he'll figure it out or he'll give you that shot. listen, you're going to go to the bench right now or this is what's going to happen, how you're going to stay on. So, he's very good at getting that switch flipped in those timeouts and you see them respond very well. And that's what they did and they haven't looked back since that timeout. >> Yeah. And maybe it could just be the change from from zone to full court.
I mean, we've been getting steals every which way, Josh, and it it's working. >> But that's what happens, right? So the only way you can really do your you have to make a few baskets to get into your fullourt press. So then once that happens it can become a cascading effect where all of a sudden now now you got it going. >> I loved the escape there by Brian David. He's one of if not the biggest guy on the court but he was able still able to slip underneath the tide there. Like great job. >> Yeah. And and Brian David is a junior. And again, I I don't perhaps he's a football player, but he he's got he's a big big boy. >> Tall, athletic, well put together. He's getting the outlet pass right now.
>> Oh, good. It's the king's court. King Dosta. Yeah, I'll tell you, Devin Barry, you you great effort there, but you're not going to win a one-on-one with my guy Christian Vasquez. >> Nope. Nope. >> Oh, here he comes. >> Yes. Josiah Pappia coming in. Alendor coming out. >> We got the chance, Justin. We We were uh we were catching up with Josiah the other day. >> Yeah. after school and um what a nice young man to talk to and just letting him know the job he's been doing and uh he really appreciated it. But hey, you've earned it. >> Yeah, I mean he looked wiped as well. He was just coming back from a game and uh I believe it was the Medford game. That's correct. >> Uh he was just coming back from
a game. Uh just really high spirits and uh you know still locked in from the game. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, it was it was good. What a great young man. >> Yeah. No, it was nice. Nice catching up with Josiah. He sets a hot screen right there. Tied up by nine. Vasquez goes away from the Sanchez screen then then hits him on the perimeter. Sanchez finds Pappy who's going to try it from downtown. Just a little long. Good look. Nice dish by Sanchez. >> Yeah, Josh. But I like I like the look from Pappy in there. We've seen him make that shot a few times and each time it you know it it's beautiful. We got about 58 seconds left here. [cheering] Eight Mooseu takes the hard foul on a really nice pump fake to
get his defenders in the air. Again, we don't want you to go anywhere. We got 58 seconds left in this first half, but at halftime, we're going to have a very special halftime report from our student broadcast crew who's all decked out in ESPN gear at their table. So, don't go anywhere, folks. This is a special halftime. It's going to be terrific. Going to have the guys all fired up. Yanos tries it from deep. >> That's no good. Tied up by 10. 42 seconds left. I was just adjusting the camera there really quick, Josh. Sorry about that. >> My guy Justin Han doing what he does, which is everything. a true Swiss Army knife of all sorts. Setting up one of our cameras for our student crew who [cheering] we'll be tapping into at halftime.
Yeah. Let's see if you can if you if we can give them just a little teaser of what the student crew looks like here. >> Yeah. >> Oh, look at them. >> There they are. >> Little picture and picture. >> They look great. >> And that's that's the student crew you're going to hear from at halftime. So again, special special presentation coming your way right there. We just had Brian David make a couple at the line. Patriots kind of quietly knifing their way back into this one. Down by eight. Still been a great quarter for the uh Crimson Tide. Nice drive by Papia getting to the line right there. >> Yeah. No, I mean we've seen it, Josh. Papia does make a huge difference when he comes into the game. And I say it every
time and you know I do. you know exactly what I'm about to say. Also a starter for the JV team. So, he's already played a game today and I tell you, he does a great job whether or not he's I guess he just uses that as a warm-up, you know, but cuz every time he comes in, I think he's made a huge play either offensively or defensively. >> I'm glad you mentioned that, too. That like I would kind of like that like you give me a quick little game to warm up on and then I'm like, "All right, yeah, and I've already done this. You guys need layup lines." Like, I'm good. Vapia knocks down both free throws. So, this is back to a 10-point tide lead. [cheering] Josh Saul Flores in the game right
now. And would you look at that? Josh giving the guys giving our students a little bit of a hype meeting right there. Just letting them know what's up. There they are again. Welcome back, Josh. Yeah. No, just touching base. Uh that's that's touching base with Johnny Goes. Johnny Goes is going to be uh one of the key the key elements of this broadcast along with Armani Negron. We got Edonto. We got a whole crew over there. It's going to be terrific. These guys have been fired up. They've been doing this for a while. Our cheerleaders are fired up right now. So, this is coming your way short. We got 3.7 seconds left. We've had a very big second quarter from the Crimson Tide. They've they've really turned the tide in this game as they're up
by 10. last basket. Uh we had uh two free throws made by Papia getting us up back up to 10. >> Josh, this might be a rare occurrence where we have a tie for the leader total for the score leader point leader. Is that what point >> point leader? Talk about it. >> Oh yeah. So right now I mean Christian Vasquez with and there three names that we're not surprised about. Let's be real. Christian Vasquez with six points, King Dosta with five, eight Mus with six, and Alendor with six. Are you kidding me right now? >> Yeah. No, that's uh And again, that's something that Coach Boyce loves to see cuz that just screams balance. Like that's across the board. You got that kind of that kind of balance. That's where you find yourselves with
this lead right now. Got to get this shot off. Vasquez going to try the fade away from downtown. Oh, almost goes. That was big time right there. And that was a big time quarter by the Crimson Tide as they take a 10point lead. But right now we are going to send it over to our student broadcast none other than Johnny Goes in company. Johnny take it away. >> Thank you guys. Thank you Justin. And uh here we're live with >> Armani Negrron and >> I I think we had a pretty rocky start to the first quarter. um letting up a couple crucial threes that we shouldn't have in the corner. But I think coming out of the uh first quarter and going into the second quarter, we had Coach Boyce make some crucial adjustments and
close in on number five because if he if you let him, he'll shoot threes all night from the wing. Anything you want to say, Armani? >> I mean, there's just there's just one guy I want to shout out here, man. I mean, Jayen Alindorf, number 14, junior. He's a great great role player. He does his job. He's relentless finish at the board and he has effort of 10 men. No finish in this kid. >> We'll give it to Otto now. See me. I'm a true firm believer that every player needs their time and that player is Adam number four. Without this offense, Adam, if Adam isn't there, we would not have as much points we have up right now. Adam, he's a elite passer. He is the showcase of the team. If you if you
take Adam out, we wouldn't be where we are right now. Adam has amazing steals. He's been putting out some tough shots. We had some couple of games that Adam was injured, but right when Adam came back in, he showed us what we needed. And Adam is a true believer of this team. Somebody else that we all should talk about are the Nelson's. Number 20, 24 I believe, and number 15. Those two are the heart and soul of Everett basketball for the next two years that they are here, two to three years. They are the players that Boyce needs to sub in when he knows that we need some clutch shots up and he knows and he believes that those two would definitely put up shots and we're up by 10 right now in the half.
I believe that boys is going to go down there. He's going to talk to them and tell them that it should not be this close. Everett basketball should not be close to any GBL team in right now. We should be close to out of league teams, not no GBL teams. And I know and boys would absolutely help us out. And I think just to close out the game here to make sure we get this W, Coach Boyce needs to emphasize defense and that's how we're going to win this game. We just got to play our game and that's what it is. Thank you guys. >> Wish I said it a little bit. I said a little [music] >> good. [music] Okay, cool. >> We were inh [music] Heat. Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >>
Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. [music] [music] Hey, Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hey, [music] hey, hey. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hey, [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. [music] [music] Hey, heat. Hey, heat. >> [music] [music] >> Well, we're coming back a little bit later because what what can I say, Justin? Our uh our thunder was stolen by by some young students who did an outstanding job with the halftime show. >> Josh, I I I don't know what to say. You know, they they took all my talking points, they condensed it down, and honestly, I might be out of a job tomorrow. >> I mean, it was too good. It was too good. >> Great job. Great job. >> It was awesome. Those guys, man, what a what
what a great job. We had we had Johnny goes, Armani Negron and Enonetto just gave an absolute terrific analysis, a report, a breakdown of the game at halftime. Very happy to see it. Those guys crushed it. >> Yeah, it just just a phenomenal job. You know, I I went in the back. I was listening and Jeff's like, >> "So, like, we we're just going to replace you then, right?" And I was like, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're not getting rid of me that easy. not get rid of me that easy. But I tell you what, Josh, it has been an interesting game. The the first quarter in particular, you know, the the Patriots were up. Uh they were up by three, I believe, with the uh I believe it was
a buzzer beater three. Uh the Patriots were up and then something happened because there was nine unanswered points by Everett and then it the defense just took it away. Everett's up by 10 right now, 29-9. and it's looking pretty good. They even have the fullcourt press going. Now, we saw the fullcourt press on the girls game with Medford and it was working really, really well, but they I think they pushed it a little too early. So, I I'm hoping that doesn't happen here. You know, I love the look of the Tide right now. Josh, what are your thoughts going into the half? >> Yeah, I mean, you you hit it on the head, right? It [clears throat] was it was Patriots with a big first quarter and then something something changed in that Crimson Tide
bench going into the second quarter and it was on the defensive side of things. They got it going and that defense really started to overwhelm the Patriot offense. So here we go. Crimson Tide basketball to start things off up by 10. And let's see if they can uh we don't want to see them play limbo with the lead. Add to it. Are you kidding right out the gate? Easy two, you know. But that was a beautifully drawn out play. >> That's what you want to see from Alundor. And yes, it was the the the the cut to the basket and the pass was right on Q. And those are the things that this Crimson Tide offense, they do. They they get into their offense and run it very well. They not only excel in running
the fast court break and getting out in transition. They do a really nice job in the half court set. They're able to set a lot of screens and then get cutters going to the basket. They know how to share the basketball. There's not a selfish player on this team. Um, eight Muserude. Talk about it. Vasquez gives him a little dump and eight Museroo's going to take full advantage. Bound an open lane. Went right back onto defense and holy cow just tied ball again. Yeah, I know you're seeing that tide defense really starting to rise. They're doing some great things right now and and that forced the turnover right into the Crimson Tide bench. So tied. They got the Patriots on the ropes right now. They could really put this thing uh make this thing lopsided.
>> Yeah. And we we say it all the time, the defense is what's going to give you the win here. And the tide defense has been doing a really great job. But as we say that, number two for River, that's going to be Charles Dol just came in, made a beautiful steal. Unfortunately, unable to come up with any points there. However, beautiful steal. That was a great steal. Anticipation was there. Oh, nice movement. What was that? >> Beautiful. >> Hey, Moose. with the fake to the pass. Oh, gorgeous. Beautiful dish. Bounce pass right to King to Costa. This is King's court. He knows what to do. I really like what A Musheru did there, though. >> Oh, I I love the unselfish play. I just love it. Alor had a layup that he probably would
have finished given the way he finishes with his degree of difficulty. He thought he saw a better look to at Moose at Muserude. He gave it up. I actually think his teammates are telling him, "Hey, Jaden, love it." But like you you had the just take that layup. You got this. >> Yeah. He just w went over to Boyce and Boyce told him, "Hey, >> we're in it for the points, kid. We're in it for the points. Love your teamwork. >> Well, let's let's add add to the lead here." >> But no, talking back to what I was talking about beforehand, I mean, eight Mus he was able to plant his feet, look like he was about to go up for the jump and then make the pass, the bounce pass, and it it was
a beautiful play. >> Yeah, it was a great play. It really was. It's going to be a rare miss on the fadeaway from Christian Vasquez there. Hasn't missed too many of those. And that's going to be an 8second violation. You have 8 seconds to get the ball over half court. Otherwise, that's a turnover. And again, result of really good Crimson Tide defense making that happen. up by 16. 3519. >> Yeah, Josh. And I tell you, it had to have been the change in defense after that first quarter. I mean, they went into it that it looked even. It looked neck and neck. And then Boyce made some adjustments. You know, he was a chef in the kitchen, chefing it up and cooking up just beautiful defense. And Vasquez cooking up another beautiful three. Oh, we
got a timeout called by the Patriots. Vasquez starting to heat up. Big three, quick release, catch and shoot, corner pocket. >> Well, is open. I like that one. I like a little bit of a billiards reference. >> I love my billiards. >> Locally known as pool. >> Yeah. No. Uh, it's great. It was uh, in fact, I go down the street a lot. Go to Malden. They had a couple really good billyard spots over there. >> Oh, yeah. Ryan Family Amusements. >> Love the Ryan Family Amusements. gave me a little candle pin, too. >> Unfortunately, not there anymore, but I >> know. What a shame. That was good. That was a good time. >> I I I love me all the uh all the things that were there. Had nice square pizza, too. >> Oh,
yeah. >> Probably got it from Sunny's. But >> who doesn't like Sunnies? >> That's all right. I love a good square pizza. Nice thick dough. Segue here. We'll segue. But no, hey, Crimson Tide really clicking on all cylinders right now. You're seeing it show on the scoreboard. Up 3819. Vasquez has been at the forefront of that. I have Vasquez now. He has now taken over. There was a little bit of a log jam for the lead scores. Vasquez has left no doubt in that department for the moment. He has he's got 11 points to his name right now. And next behind him there is a tie between eight Musu with eight along with Jaden Alendor with eight. And there's another beautiful graphic a look at that tied profile of Christian Vasquez 6'1 and senior. He
was the lead scorer in the game-winning shot in that first meeting versile in English. And that's when everything got started. They were one and five in that m uh at that point. That got them two and five. And that's when the tide really started to roll again. So talk about the job coach has done. One and five to start the season and now 11 and seven. I'm not a math guy, but that's that's pretty good. Yeah, I I'd say they made a big improvement on both sides of the ball and it's showing there with the Christian Vasquez going for the steal, grabbing it. Unfortunately, I do believe he's going to pick up a foul there. >> Yeah. No, the foul is picked up. I think the the bench was looking for a clear path foul,
which would be free throws and the ball back. It's almost like a technical, but uh the officials just deemed it a regular personal foul and it wasn't a shooting foul, so it's actually no free throws. Yeah, clear path foul is like it sounds. It's something you do intentionally to try to disrupt a wide open layup, but if caught by the officials, you'll get penalized for it. Alendor tries from the doing it all day and making it easy. Steal the ball, pass the ball around, find the open man, get at least three points. >> Well, guess what? Back to back. Almond Door just tied Vasquez now. He's got 11 points. I mean, this is this happens like every game. I tell you, if if he wanted to play greedy ball, Alendor would have all the points.
>> I know it. I know it. He is uh he's he's almost too self uh too too selfless, right? >> Yeah. >> I mean, he's he loves giving it up, but he can really score. And also doing with the stealing away. >> Ooh, nice D by Dre. >> Do says no way. still stays with the Crimson Tide, but that was a big time block. >> Josh, during the timeout, what was the Patriots bench talking about? I mean, it looks like that after coming off the bench, and I I mean this with great respect, you look worse than before. >> Yeah. You know, I I think right now I think they're just you're you're sensing that that that swelling of the tide, right? The tide's really heating up. This is a corner that they love that
that almost went down. But yeah, I I think I think they're just kind of maybe running into a little bit of exhaustion, right? You got the Tides really put up they've really turned up the heat with that pressure. And we've talked about it, Justin. Rever's not going deep into that bench. They're maybe going to, you know, one player if that. They're going about six deep. They're starting five and then maybe maybe a plus one. So when you have this kind of un, you know, this this this pressure that's just unrelenting, I mean, that that's going to that's going to show itself in the form of fatigue. This is a 4119 game. A far cry from the three-point lead had at the end of the first quarter. >> A foul right there. >> Yeah, he moves
through just a little bit too uh antsy there. Uh, but you know what? You're up what, 22 points, so I think you can afford it. >> Yeah. No, you you definitely can. You you you have that when you when you build that kind of lead, you can certainly do things that maybe you wouldn't typically do. And that's a nice basket right there by number zero. >> Devin Bry. Let me swap around the papers a little bit. Let me give you that. You got it. [laughter] Sanchez is finding Dcasta who finds Vasquez and Vasquez is on fire at that spot. Currently, I believe he's two for three at that spot. >> That is correct, Justin. Two for three. Vasquez now has 14. >> And Alendor read that beautifully. This has been a steal fest by the
Tide bounce pass. It's good steal by the Patriots there. >> Yeah, good steal by the Patriots trying to get one back. >> Tie defense just completely rewriting this story. >> Yeah, I'll tell you Josh, normally I when we talk about it, I'm saying, you know, defense is going to what what's going to win you the game. What defense is is what's winning every game here. But unfortunately, Patriots unable to make anything happen in the offensive offensive way. And let's be real, if you can't get points on the offense, even if you have the best defense in the world, when you're this far down, you're not going to be able to do anything. Now, I'm not saying that they can't turn it back on. We saw it in the first quarter. And I'm just looking to
see the Patriots get back to that. Yeah. No, no doubt about it. The Patriots are trying to get something going here. They're they're trying to hang around, but but right now it's been it's been all effort. The tide is rising high. They've really done a lot of great things here. And that defense has really shown itself making some big things happen. And then what they're doing a really nice job again. Still the ball movement. Like they're just wasting no time finding the right drop off pass, looking for their guys to the basket. If anything, it's almost like, "Hey guys, you have the layup. Don't make that extra extra pass." But they're doing a really good job. And again, good defense and good offense. It just pairs up so well. >> Yeah. >> And you're seeing
it. I mean, we're seeing our starting five out for almost the entire game. We've seen the Nelson's, we've seen Pafia come out, uh we've seen Xavier come out, but we're we're seeing the majority is our starting five. And you can tell that these these young men, they work together. They're they're buddy buddy. They they know what the other guy is thinking. Most of the time, they're not even throwing up signals. They're just getting open for the other guy and making sure that you have his back. So, how you can secure more points to secure what, Josh? The W. >> The W. That's it. Tied looking for their 12th win of the season. Like I said, they're all big at this point trying to get a home tournament game. Alandor, this court has been looking good
all night. It's been looking good all night. We're going to retire that spot on the court. If we ever have to replace this floor, we're taking that specific spot out, putting it up on the wall. >> Absolutely. That That's the corner right now. [cheering] Insane, Josh. Here he is. Oh my gosh. Oh man, that was a great move. You know what? Props to two. I mean, he still made the stop happen. However, it does appear like he picked up the foul there. And uh you hate to see maybe just give him the two points, but you know, >> Alindor can miss at the free throw line. Yeah, I said it. I said it. I said I want him to prove me wrong. >> I like that. >> You know, >> I like that. Wage it.
Wage it. >> That was a great move, though. >> Oh, yeah. >> He felt the heat behind him. He said, "You know what? I'm going to I'm going to put the brakes on the E bra. Peel the Peel the back tires real quick." >> Yeah. Big props to Do. You know, he's been playing his heart out there. And pretty much every play that the Patriots have made defensively is thanks to Do. >> Yeah. No, Dre is a great athlete. got real good leap off the off the floor. Uh dore sophomore >> 2028. >> Yeah, >> you know, I I can figure that part out. >> Uh that's too much math for me. >> I mean, I I did I'd be honest with you. There was a little slight question after I said that. I think
that's right. I think we're in 26. So, yeah. >> But no, a sophomore and you know, he's playing varsity and he's playing it really well. Uh, like I said, we've we've said his name a few times tonight and he's just every defensive play. If he can pick it up on offense, which I'm sure he will in the next couple years, he might be unstoppable. >> Yeah, I know. He he he has he has the look to be a really good player. Look, he's out in the forefront again. >> Oh, that's an offensive foul. Wow. Okay. All right. I guess they're going to deem that Jaden Sanchez feet weren't set uh to draw the offensive charge. He certainly took a big collision >> albeit just to have the foul charged on him. >> You know, unfortunately,
um, you know, we don't have replay today. We're we're we're using utilizing a smaller crew today. So, our replay tech, Bird Marshant or Jonathan Bird Marshant if you want to use his GVY is actually up in the bird's nest and, uh, he's doing camera one and, uh, then we have our camera right here. Uh, so unfortunately no replay, but when I get home, I'm going to rewind, watch that one again because that was a good looking play. >> Yeah. No, that was that was Yeah, we got got some players heading to the bench. Also, and Sanchez check out of the game uh for Nelson Squared. >> You know what? They they deserve a break. >> Actually, no. Correction, not Nelson squared. Nelson uh Nathaniel Nelson along with Papia. >> You know what? You got me
excited, but now I'm even more excited. I love I love a Nelson and I love Papia. Well, we're going to see the impact that these future leaders of the team make when they bring it up. Couple sophomores. I'll tell you what, Dol, he finally did it. He finally was able to stop the Tide from getting to their sweet spot. Every single player on the court knows how to shoot from that corner and he stopped it. >> Yeah, Dope is a really good looking player. >> Sophomore. I would have had no idea. He's built. Great steal by Devin Barry there. But even a better steal by Adam Muserude. >> Yeah, Brian David going to come up with the rebound and pick up a foul for his team. And >> again, we mentioned that David is a
junior. >> Yep. >> You can see where the Patriots have some uh some talent back here. >> Do they have a good They have a good looking future, Josh. And I wouldn't be surprised if they go for a run for our money next year. >> Yeah, it it could be. I mean, the way they play, Coach Larry does a nice job. Oh, nice look. >> Sapia thinks about it, >> Job. [cheering] Again, we're going to keep saying his name. He's been all over the place for the Patriots in a very good way. >> Yeah. >> And I I'm telling you, he has not come off the court. >> No. And and you know what? I love his sneaker game, too. >> Yes. Yes. >> He's got the pinks. >> Oh, yeah. Those are nice. What
are those? Nikes. >> I don't think so. >> I know. They They might be Adidas. I'm trying to get a good look. >> Maybe it doesn't have >> the the Adidas. Maybe because it has like the >> the three lines in the back. That's what's throwing That's what's throwing me. >> I I like them. >> We're going to have to uh I think we should stop play and ask. >> Yeah, let's just let's just take a timeout on that. >> I I I see a wet spot in the floor. I'll tell the referee. No, I'll go talk. >> I don't know, man. >> Yeah, >> but uh King Dosta takes the trip to the line here. >> Yes, the king. King Dross and misses the first. Tied on top by 23. 125 left in this
third quarter. >> So, the Crimson Tide just again after starting one and five, they they they've won 10 of their last 12 games. >> That's insane. So, like if you flip the script, like you start the season 10 and two, like that's I mean, >> what what was our last loss? >> Our last loss was actually at Somerville on uh February 3rd. They lost by nine. I actually I I watched a good chunk of that game. Uh Somerville Somerville TV, Somerville Education TV aired it live and um and they usually do they do a nice job and uh it was it was a good game. It was back and forth, but the Highlanders did pull away late in that fourth quarter to uh cement the win. And they've had a great year. We split with
them. We beat them here in a game that we we we called together. Um but that did go for a season split. And the Highlanders have had a really good year. Um you got the the the the Lin Classical Rams officially won the GBL with a buzzer beater over Chelsea last night. Chelsea. >> Yeah, that was a great game. It was a two-point Chelsea lead and then the Highlanders hit a three. I'm sorry. the um the Rams hit a three at the buzzer to win it and that that that clenched the greater Boston League title for the Rams and then Chelsea, we know the year that they've had they've had a terrific season and then of course the Highlanders along with Everett. That's the top four teams in the GPL and that's Josiah Pafia, the
wave of the future showing up in a big way. >> Yeah. No, Pafia, we we say it every time and I'm going to continue to say it. He makes a huge impact on the team when he hits the hits the court and boy howdy Josh am I looking forward to watching him because he's he's still young in his career. Uh I I'm looking forward to seeing what he does next year and you know more future. >> Absolutely. >> Plays real hard. Goodiz kid. >> Yeah. Gives it gives it all. Gives it his all, you know. >> Look at him. I mean he's he's locked in defensively. helps come up with that that one that Daniel Nelson comes up with the steal after Pappia and Emanuel closing in. Passappia is going to try this corner which
has been good to everybody. That doesn't fall again. Good look though. Is the corn a little worn out from them using that spot all night. >> It does. It looks I got to It does look a little a little worn out. That could be it. >> Yeah, [cheering] >> I'm sure Steve Gallagher will be in here late, you know. >> Well, he's finishing the hat. Oh yeah, he's he's going to get that Minwax shine. He's going to break out his Ryobi sand. >> Poly hurt. The Ryobi. That's a good That's a good sand, I tell you. The Ryobi Santa. Got a little Poly Gu. There you go. >> Nick Rup taking his first trip to the line tonight. >> Nick Rup. >> [cheering] >> Crowd's all fired up. They've been all fired up the whole
game here. >> Yeah. I mean, you're if you're the tide right now, you're you're having a great night. You're up by 24. You're about to go into the fourth quarter and man, it's it's been a pleasure to watch. >> Yeah, it really has to see the way this game has changed. We we thought after that first quarter like, "Oh man, let's not let's not I don't want to see a major upset here, but like we we need to get it going." And then they they've literally turned this into, you know, a blowout at the moment. Emanuel Nelson's three just swims out and that's how this quarter will end. Tied in total control, 50 to 26. Big second quarter paved way to an even bigger third quarter, Justin. I mean, the Tides just just getting what
they want, doing what they want. Yeah, I mean, and it's all thanks to the defense, their their defensive knowhow and their offensive scoring. I mean, they're stealing the ball every which way. They're taking full advantage of pretty much anything they want to do. And I'll tell you what, that spot, that corner, that's going into the Crimson Tide MVP territory right there. I think they hit at least six threes from that spot. >> Yeah, they No, right. You had uh you had a flurry from Vasquez and Alindor. Yep. Okay. The the the two of them alone probably have two two to three each >> and then Pappy almost knocked one down. >> Yep. >> But yeah, it's Vasquez and Alindidor just been been controlling the show from the perimeter and they've they've really been doing that
the last few weeks, showing just each game more and more confident and just really dialing in that outside shot. And then of course we know how well Alandor can put the ball in the deck and attack the basket. >> Yeah. And again Josh you you said it at the top of the half. They're not playing selfish ball. And I think that's the real big difference between Everett and you know any other team. They're passing the ball around. They're you're always going to have that point leader. Um but they're passing the ball around. They're finding the person that's open and then they have the trust in each other that they're going to put up the ball and make the shot. That's a big thing, you know, when you trust your teammates like that, that's when that's
when you play your best ball, right? You you're you're just trusting, you know, that every everyone's capable of making the shot. A foul there seemed to be a little questionable on that call. >> Yeah, but you know, the we've seen it, Josh. Uh we've called for a replay and these officials know what they're doing. They're eagle-eyed. >> We've had good officials this year. I've had really no problems with any of the games that we've done. And and not that I'm I'm I'm pretty good at like listen, these guys I I I can really separate like these guys are humans. They're doing a job that is very difficult to do. And uh you got to give them their props. But but I actually am giving their props. If if you're not noticing them, that means they're
doing a good job. >> Yeah. >> Ooh, that one almost went down. I'll tell I'll tell you a fun fact. fun fact that I learned Germaine Griffin down in IT, >> he's a he's a high school basketball rep. >> I've heard about this. And Germaine Griffin, uh, a terrific individual here at Ever High School, one of the IT, as you just mentioned, uh, got to be a former player himself, too. >> Oh, yeah. >> Tall guy. >> No, tall guy. He's built. >> Built. And typically officials, you know, they they they they do it cuz they know the game. So, a lot of them, most of them are former players. >> And, uh, yeah. I'd love to uh I wonder I wonder what I got to talk to him what league he's he's doing because
usually these guys kind of they they work within respective leagues like this is typically a greater Boston league crew that we have tonight. Now when you get to the tournament they obviously uh will mix that up. I I think I think it's done purposely so you're seeing different officials, >> right? >> But yeah, Germaine, I I like that you mentioned that. Great. >> Always answers my tickets in a timely manner. But he'll only do that and if you're on the staff, he'll only do that if you submit a ticket first. Use the in systems. >> That's right. Use your in systems, guys. Okay. There's a real real procedure to follow here. >> Shout out to our guy Joe Patuto. >> Oh yeah. CTO of Ever Public Schools. >> There he goes. There he goes again.
>> Alendor. >> Alindor. You know, he makes those plays all the time. I don't even know why we're surprised anymore. Josh, are you joking? No. Belindidor is just just on a rip right now. >> Like that's going to be a Malden time or Malden. >> I mean, I guess they're both touching. >> They're both close. You got navy blue. >> Uh, but yeah, I believe that's a river time. >> So, I have Alindor for 15 points. Of course, this is unofficial, but I'm usually pretty good at this sort of thing. >> You said 15. >> 15, not 50. That would be wild. >> That would be insane. That'd be pretty cool. But no, 15 and the tide up by 30. 5626. And I mean, this actually is going by way of their last meeting. Yeah.
Which is wild to me the way this started. the and I think and I don't know because I didn't watch the the the game that they played, but I did keep up to date with the stats on the new Everett Athletics website. Um, which you know we I'm I'm sure Jeff he's got it. He's chefing up. He's got it cute and we'll we'll show it to you in a second here. Um, but I did watch it and I I was watching it live and I'm like, are you kidding me? >> Yeah. Um, and the way that There it is. There's the athletics website. Go check it out. evercrimson tide.com if you want the latest updates on the Crimson Tide and our sports. Uh they got a running ticker. I talked to um I talked to
Steve Gallagher uh and he says the minute that we put in the score, it's up and live on the website. You got the you got the pictures, which I'm sure some of them are from our own crew. Uh and just just a phenomenal phenomenal website and just take a look at it. keep up to date. >> Great job. Love it. And uh yeah, we we we can't talk about enough what a page that is. And that that definitely is a foul. >> Yeah. Yeah. Nathaniel Nelson absorbing the contact. >> You know, we do have Nelson squared in the court. >> I I love it when we have Nelson squared. >> And we also have my big fellow Kim Adams Dormavville, number 23. Another sophomore who's shown some promise. >> Yeah. I mean, right now what
we're seeing is our starters are out of the game, which we don't see too often. >> Nice shot, David Xavier. And that's a senior. The student body loved it. They relished that. Good. Good job by David knocking that down. Nice shot. >> Yeah, Josh. We don't see our starters come off the bench or at least all at once too often, but when we do, it's interesting to see because a lot of the time you're going to see our sophomores and juniors play. And I tell you, I if if you if you took the numbers off, I would assume that these are just our starters. >> And that's the kind of depth at the disposal that coach Boyce has. And you do you you're seeing it right now. You got three sophomores in the game right
now in Payha, Nathaniel Nelson in Dormville. Then you have a junior in Emanuel Nelson and of course the senior David Xavier. Oh, nice move by the big fella. But good defense right there by a number 10, Nico Sespus. It's a great name off the phone. >> Yeah. No, that is a close suspense. >> Yeah. >> Going to be out of bounds. It'll stay with the Patriots. >> Josh, if you're keeping score, which I know you are, uh the in two quarters of play, the Patriots have scored 13 points. >> Yeah. I mean, you talk about 16 points. >> Yeah. It's it's pretty wild. Like >> definitely. >> Yeah. I mean the the the Tide on the other hand have scored what 48. >> Insanity. >> It is insanity. >> Dormavville with the put back. Nice
job by Kim Adams. 50. Oh, that almost took an unlucky bounce. And that would have been unfortunate for number 21 who I also don't have on my >> didn't help us there. >> Yeah, I mean I'm assuming that they wear different jerseys for away games and maybe, you know, they forgot them or something like that. They might be on our list. Uh but unfortunately, folks at home, >> we don't have it so we can't announce it. >> Yeah, we don't have that one. >> Unfortunate because we gave him so much props at the top. >> Yeah. about uh you know, you know, let's do let's do it right. You know, let's get it in numerical order, but also let's include everybody. >> Yeah, you got to have everybody if if you know, maybe maybe there's
some half JV, half us. Well, update. >> That's true. >> And it could be. >> Yeah. Yeah, >> it could be. >> You know, I didn't think about that, Josh. >> You know, again, very happy with what we've gotten from Rev, >> athletic director, Frank Shrey. >> Frank, very kind. Every time we go over there, whether it's a football game, we always get set up very well. super healthy. >> So, uh, no, definitely much love for our, uh, our our Patriots. >> Yeah, we don't know. Things happen. >> Absolutely. >> So, it could just be, you know, it could be anything. [screaming] But, you know, Frank, if you are watching, we we appreciate what you do. >> Absolutely do. >> You know who else? We appreciate our athletic director. I don't see I know I
know you're hiding from me, but I know you're in the building. Tammy Turner. >> Tammy Turner somewhere. Ah, Tammy Turner, we'll find you in the crowd anytime. >> We know you're around somewhere. >> But she does a great job and I say I'll say it every time. Tammy Turner, uh, you know, always willing to help us out, uh, if we need pretty much anything. Uh and uh we're so lucky to have somebody that cares about the athletics program as much as team. >> Yeah. No, she she really does. She does a great job and she's just a joy to be around. Terrific personality. Permeates itself throughout the whole department. >> Now, what I do want to know, Josh, is uh I do see Steve Gallagher, uh our assistant athletics director. I do see him. Did
you ever talk to him about his hands? Just making sure that you catch the ball when you're on the side. >> Talk to him about it. >> I I I didn't muster up the courage to do it. >> If he's watching the broadcast and well, he'd take it in, but he's usually here live as we see him right now. It's right over on the baseline. >> But yeah, I know. I I I I do have to ri him at some point for the uh the blunder that we caught. We even got a nice replay of it. >> Yeah, we'll show it to him. >> Yeah, it wasn't wasn't his finest athletic moment. didn't like it. >> I I'd hate for his wife Deian to see that. She'd be so disappointed. >> Oh, that's going to
be a foul there. >> How about our guys at the ESPN desk today? >> I mean, it was terrific, you know. So, again, we we had a student crew doing a a broadcast themselves and they're all decked out. They got the table. They got the the ESPN banner streamed across. They're dressed to the nines and they did a great job. We threw it to them at halftime and they were outstanding. >> David Xavier, the crowd was looking for that breakaway layup. >> Yeah, can't let that happen. David, that was Look at Boyce. He's cool as a cucumber, but uh he's not happy. And uh he's sending in a sub. I wonder who he's bringing out. David Xavier. [cheering] But you know what? Everyone's giving him everyone's giving him props. >> They're actually it's it's it's
made for a pretty light moment. >> I see Boyce I actually see him cracking a smile. >> Yeah. >> And uh it does have the teammates, [laughter] you know, hamming it up for him. >> Oh man. I mean, a good moment though. >> He did made he did make some pretty good plays. He He made some pretty good plays while he was out there. >> He did a really nice job and that was actually made for a good >> Let's see it. >> Oh, Nathaniel. >> Nathaniel Nelson. There he is. >> Oh, he dropped his glasses. Pick him up. Sportsmanship. >> Thanks. 23 who I don't have. >> Another one. >> What a guy. >> We're getting the uh >> I think I'm just going to announce him as uh >> Dorville. Dorville. Yeah. >>
I mean, we have a complete list. >> Yeah, we got a 23. Nice job by Nathaniel burying that. Yeah, Nathaniel. Uh, oh, we still have two more years with Nathaniel and Nelson, and I'm looking forward to every every game. I tell you what, right, we still we we still got some in store this season, but the the young talent on this Crimson Tide roster is really breathtaking. I mean, you got some real good young players here. Well, Jay is getting involved there. Was that a kickball? I bet you they they they they might have better hands than uh than me, the the cheerleaders. They got better reflexes. I'll tell you that much. >> I'm sure they have better hands than Steve Gallagher. >> I wasn't brave enough to say it. Steve, if you're watching, we
love you. We really do. Oh, from one Nelson to another. Emanuel Nelson now from downtown. >> Emmanuel Nelson. I tell you, the crowd is on fire tonight. Everyone's going nuts. Pafi is getting another two. He's going to the line again. We got Bonnies on the floor. >> These guys are goofing. >> We got We got guys having lots of fun. Lots of fun. Oh, we have Josiah Pasia making a layup at the basket. What a time. >> This is I mean >> I mean this is electric in here right now. I mean you can I'm sure you can hear it but there's something about feeling anytime a play is made. You can feel all the crowd. >> Oh yeah. >> The crowd coming up and just the vibration. It's great. It's great. The last I
mean the last few games we've done here have been outstanding. much to do with that crowd. I mean, that's what makes an environment. The crowd, the bodies in the seats, the ESPN crew bringing the heat. >> And they look great, too. >> They do look great. >> I tell you what, I don't know what Johnny was thinking, though, and I'm going to pick on him because I know him personally. Johnny with the uh the blazer and the sweatpants. I don't know if that's a uh if that's the right choice there, Johnny. >> It might be now, though. Maybe Johnny started something. >> You're you're live. You're not on a Zoom call, pal. Maybe. Let's Let's get it together. [cheering] You can't do that. Can't do that. >> No. No. I like the move, though. I
mean, that's >> Yeah. I mean, I'm sure he didn't mean it. Or maybe he did. Or maybe he didn't. >> He's just like, "You know what? I I know it's going to count for two points anyway, but I'm just not going to let you see that go through the hoop. I'll tell you what, our ESPN boys, they're they're a little upset about it. >> They're here for it. >> Yeah, we got uh Yeah, this is this game changed. It changed. >> Yeah, it sure did. >> Again, you're keeping tabs from the first quarter. You You talked about it. Tide has scored 61 points since the first quarter while the Patriots have scored 20. >> And that's Emanuel Nelson. And again, these are this is the bench and you'd never know it. >> No, exactly, Josh.
I mean, they're playing just as well. I'm not going to say if not better, but they're playing just as well as the starters. And that it it's all because of coach. I mean, we've seen him we've seen him during practice when the at the start of the season, we made the mistake of interrupting a pro a of practice and he told us, "Listen, guys, you're great. I love you. Get out of my gym. Get out of my gymnasium." And we're like, "Oh, okay. Coach, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." But he he dedicates a lot of a lot of his time to these boys, to these young men, I should say. And you know what I like about it is they're if you're disciplined on the court, you're going to be disciplined in life. And the first
thing he says is, "Keep your grades up if you want to stay on my court." Everything Everything about it, Jerry Boyce is really he he just You hit it. Everything top to bottom does it all. Tell you this this town like I said the Nelson's Dormville King Dosta >> King Dosta Alendor we might get double Nelson starters. I I know I keep talking about next year but that's just because I'm so excited. >> No. And it's it's okay. And and again that's not cuz we're we're still very much here in the moment. >> Oh yeah. But that's just what it is. Like when when you see this rise of young talent, that's that's what makes you feel especially good because you know that you're not only good right now in the present, but man, if
you don't get us now, good luck. You're not getting us. The future's righteous. >> It's so righteous. It rips. It rips. You kidding me? [cheering] Ripping, bro. I tell you what rips right now. this score. >> Yeah. 74-33. >> And a classy gesture by coach Boyce just purposely running out the shot clock. Not not looking to take any more shots. >> I tell you, class act. >> Yeah, that is that is >> tied with a 41point advantage. If I remember correctly, um, way back in the day when I was in high school, um, Coach Dib, that's a Coach Dib move. >> Yeah, it is. That is. And that's that's what he learns. And he'll run out these final seconds. He'll tell them no shot. >> Yeah, you can take the buzzer beater for fun, but
no shots. And I mean, that's going to wrap it up for uh for the game here. And you know what? They're going to charge the court. I don't know if uh they can do that. >> They're going right after coach Boyce. >> They're going after Boyce. But uh look at him. He's Look at the big smile on him right there. >> Big smile on the big fella. You got to love that. You love to see it. >> Yeah. Oh, you always love to see it. Josh, what what a game. I mean, I'm I I'm still thinking about where we were, right? We're at the first quarter 13-10 and I wasn't sure what what was going to happen this game. I mean I I it could have went either way. I mean they ended the first
quarter. Revir was up by three and then it just it it feels like the tide turned something on. The tide changed a little bit and that small adjustment just took over the game. Why I want you to explain it to us. >> No, it was huge, Justin. I mean, that first quarter had this thing like, are are we are we ripe for the picking here in an upset? Like, this is there's something something's weird here. And the crowd the crowd was great from from start to finish, but the Patriots just had a different look to them. We had talked about their recent losses. While there were still losses, they played some really good teams to some-point games and two-point games, and we said, something's in the air with this Patriot team. They come in, the
Tide coming off just punching their official ticket to the tournament. Maybe this is a letdown game. And then all of a sudden the second quarter happened. And from that point forward, from the second quarter when the Tide was down by three, 13- 10, they went on to score 63 points and they held the Patriots to 22. 63-22 in scoring from the second quarter to finish. >> It's incredible. That is the stuff of >> tournament storybook teams right there. >> You know, we we look at the last time that they played. It was 75 to 38 and we kept them lower than from when we played them last time. Granted, we didn't get as many points, but even still, that's that's crazy to me. I mean, I it blows my mind. But you know what blew
blew my mind even more? Jeff Natio tonight. Jeff Nio, we're talking to you, big guy. Not only did you direct the production, you were the stream tech and graphics and like that's insane to me. And a little bit of engineering, I'd say >> little engineering. He's just doing it all. He's giving us the website when we want it. He's giving us picture and picture of our ESPN crew. Just you name it. Jeff Natio brought it. Delivers all the time. Expressway and that's what you'll love to see. >> And then of course, we already said his name up in the nest. It's Bird Bird Marshon. He does a great job and uh we're always lucky to have him. But that's the whole crew. Oh, no wait. We did have photography and that was Miguel Ventura Giannis.
>> Always does a great job and you can see his pictures on the website. >> You say it so beautifully. Miguel done has done a terrific job all season. Quite a bright young man. Has some really good He's got he's got some tough decisions to make with some some college choices. >> I know. I know. He's got some big schools out there that are looking for his uh his talents. So, uh Miguel, hats off to you, my friend. You're doing a great job. And for all our crew tonight, of course, I know Joe Camley has been dialing it in. He's up in the studio getting in his lab right now getting some things going for us. So, it's been great. But all around the crew has been outstanding all season. We've enjoyed bringing you all
of the action. Again, this was our last regular season home game, but we are hopeful that there will be a home tournament game. other otherwise we will be making the trip wherever they go in the tournament looking to bring you the action and uh it's just been a lot of fun especially calling the games that you brother been a lot of man >> Josh I mean so I know that we we've done some we've done some games together like we've done the minuscule basketball tournament but I think this was my first full season doing it with you what a blast man we've been having so much fun it's great we're talking about it um but I mean >> we still got more to do why we why are we talking about it like it's our
last game but I'll tell you what we are for tonight. And as always, thank you so much for tuning in and we'll see you in the next one. [music] >> [music] [music]
