evening everyone and welcome to Larry Clemus Memorial Fieldhouse, home of the Mthuran Rangers. for the start of the 2026 MIAA statewide tournament. I'm Josh Delgazo joined alongside Justin Han and we have a big one coming your way from home of the Marramac Valley. Our every Crimson Tide will look to be the Road Warriors tonight and play the spoiler role. Justin, we're taking on a Methooan Rangers team. Don't let that record fool you. Nine and 11. They play in an ironclad conference. Tell us a little bit about these Rangers of Mthua. >> Yeah, I tell you Josh, they did a couple of like really hard games. We're talking the Haver Hills of the world. We're talking the Drake high schools. We're talking Andover High School. They were all really close losses by uh Methooan. But I

I I tell you, it's going to Don't let the 911 uh record fool you. It's going to be one heck of a game. You know, I I always believe in our ever crimson tide, but you know, the Marramac Valley Conference, I I the water's different up here, Josh. >> No, no doubt about it. And you don't have to look too far, Justin. If you look at the very top of the division one power rankings, the statewide tournament, the one and two seeds are Central Catholic and Andover, respectively. And that Andover team just a couple weeks ago, this very Mthuan team only lost to them by four points. So, this team can play with anybody. They're a tough outfit. And our Crimson Tide will have their hands full. But we also know that our Crimson Tide

under the direction of Coach Boyce have enjoyed a very strong season and they show that they have talent to play with anyone themselves. Right now, we're going to send it down to our public address announcer to get tonight's starting lineups and festivities on their way. I was just I feel Heat. Heat. [cheering] >> [cheering] >> She >> [cheering] [cheering] >> sister. And now the Warrior [applause] is Yes. Heat. [music] Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we ask all to close your eyes and join us in a moment of silence in honor of Jesus graduate from the high school who passed away early this morning. Oh my god. He also worked as a middle-based educator at Milton High School from 2019 to 2022, impacting the lives of many students. James's dedication to the film athletics and to the students he mentored will always be remembered. Please bow your heads and join us in a moment of silence to honor his life and Thank you. And now, ladies and gentlemen, if you could all please remove our hats as we honor America with the pledge of our national anthem. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] [applause] >> I said that we like it. We like it. national anthem. I actually liked what they did. They had the flag dropping down from the rafters.

>> Pretty neat. Never saw anything like that. >> Yeah. You know, Josh, I I I took a look at that and I uh peaked over to our video engineer, Joe Camley, and you know, you know, he's thinking >> we kind of need that. >> We need that. >> We kind of need that. >> Does Does B&H sell that? [laughter] >> But uh hey, you know, we're fired up again. Josh Delgazo joined alongside Justin Han. Really excited to bring the coverage as we have done all season long. And now it's the second season, the postseason, the one where it's win or go home. So right now, our Crimson Tide taking their game to the road here in the Marramac Valley, home of the Methooan Rangers at Larry Clemus Memorial Fieldhouse. Crimson Tide will be in their

traditional black jerseys with red trim. Starting five for the Tide, we have number one Christian Vasquez. Number two, Samir King Dcasta. Number three, Jaden Sanchez. Number four, Adam Maserude. And number 14, Jaden Alendor. >> Josh, anything surprise you about that starting lineup? >> Not at all. It's been the five what we've seen all season long. They will bring off a couple nice players off the bench, but that starting five is the driving engine for this Crimson Tide team. The Rangers take the opening tip and they're going to get a wideopen drive to the bucket. That's good by number two Alexander Santiago. Yeah, that was just a great play by the Rangers there. They were able to create an opening and you know, Santiago just took full advantage of it. Really easy, easy layup there. >>

Yeah, definitely. We hope that's not a trend tonight. That was very easy for the opening basket scored by the Rangers. Their starting five consists of very much right there. Number two, you saw Santiago on the wide open layup. The drive doesn't go by Alundor. Rebound stays with the Tide. We'll get to the rest of that Methooan starting five once we have a break in action. Crimson Tide working it around on the offensive rebound, getting a second look at it. >> And Josh, we normally see that in these games. Uh the Everett doesn't really start engines blazing. Uh they they like to read the read the offense, read the defense, and make decisions based on that. And right now, the biggest thing that I can see from it is you got to keep your eyes on

number two, Alexander Santiago for the Rangers. Uh number 50 there, uh Niles Scott going to pick up a foul and he's going to take his first trip to the line. >> Yeah. And the big guy made the basket. So he's looking for a chance at a three-point play and he he's headlining that starting five. Biggest guy on the court as Nile Scott. He's joined with we mentioned Alexander Santiago, Javian Deleó, Cory Brown, and Dylan Swezer make up the five for the Rangers. So they'll have they'll hold the advantage in the size department, especially with the body down low that is Nile Scott. You're seeing him already providing to be a presence down there. >> Yeah, I mean he's a big he's a big man and uh you know he's definitely making his presence felt on

the court. Uh let's see what a Muserude can do to you know maybe get some points on the board here. It's going to hand it over to Vasquez. And uh I tell you this uh Rangers defense it it looks pretty darn good. >> It looks real sticky right now. Vasquez tries to make a contested shot that doesn't go and that was under 10 seconds on the shot clock. So that's deep good D right there. Rangers try the three. That doesn't go. Rebound goes to Sanchez. He leads them out in transition, which is probably something the Tide are going to want to do. Looking at that half court defense by the Rangers. Vasquez takes a look that he likes. That almost goes down, but just doesn't. Still five nothing Rangers here. >> Yeah, and I I

tell you, the last three that we saw from uh the Rangers, Dylan Sweetster, uh what a great rainbow shot, you know, uh just arcs it up. It was really, really nice. Look at that. >> Yeah, you could tell that Sweetzer is going to be one of their talents from beyond the arc. The scouting report on the Rangers is that they shoot the three ball very well. And when you factor that with the big fella that you're seeing at the line in the form of junior Niles Scott, you can see why this Ranger team can be a lot to handle. Slow start for the Tide here in these first two minutes, just just over three minutes of action played here. Yeah, but we've seen that from the tide before. Uh, you know, coach Boyce, he likes

to he likes to chef it up on the bench and he's always always doing something. You can see the focus in his eyes right now. Uh, and making sure that we're going to make the correct calls here. I mean, you got to know your opponent and unfortunately the only way to know him is to play. I mean, I don't think we've seen them. >> Yeah. No, we we have not played. The last time the Crimson Tide played the Mthoan Rangers, memory takes me back to the 2019, I want to say it was the 19 season. Um, and it was a tournament game in Everett that the Crimson Tide won, and that was the last time we've played the Rangers. We had some great battles with them in the uh mid90s that went by way to

the Crimson Tide. A couple years in a row, there was a Shannon Crooks le team that beat Mthuan back at the uh the the famed Salem Red Court. It was a neutral sight game cuz it was a North semi-final game. So, have had some good battles with them but have not seen them a lot recently. >> Good defense again. You were on it, Justin. >> It's becoming well, you know, I would say it's becoming a problem, but it is a problem for the Tide right now. You know, they're they're not in their element. They don't have homecourt advantage. If it was, you know, that DJ would be bumping. And that's not to say during warm-ups the DJ wasn't bumping, but you know, you're a little bit nervous coming in here and you know, the Marramac

Valley, like we said, it's it's something else. But that's a good start right there. Just get an easy two on the board and maybe that'll get something rolling. >> Yeah, you need that. Nice job by Vasquez, who is the top scorer for the Crimson Tide. He's joined not far behind by Jaden Alundor. Nice job to get him going. That doesn't go, but the Rangers get the offensive rebound. And it's Santiago on the putback off of the missed layup by Javon Deleó. That was a nice take to the basket, but Santiago now with four points, pairs up with Nile Scott's five. And this is a 9-2 Ranger advantage. >> Yeah. And let's talk about Javon Deleó's uh like path to the basket. It looked like he jumped from the three court and ended up at the

bottom of the at the bottom of the net. That was crazy. Yeah, some explosion showcased by the senior heading to the basket there. >> Good denial defense by Samir King D. Costa working against the much bigger Scott. But wow, you could see the talent in a Scott. Good hands by Vasquez. >> Great steal. Great steal. We need that. And this is what I this is what I was saying, Josh. The Tide take some time, you know, they they chef it up. They they kind of figure out where the ball's going. They kind of read your offense and then they start to make the plays defensively. The person that I'm going to be looking out for is King Dosta under the basket. He's been a absolute animal getting the rebounds and boy I tell you I'm

looking forward to seeing what he can do today. But yet again, oh that's going to be Javon De Leon. And once again showcased that explosion, that quick first step heading to the basket. And once he got by the defender, he basically had a wide open lane to the basket. So, they're going to have to keep an eye on Deleó and his attack nature of the basket. Right now, you could tell in that Crimson Tide huddle, Coach Boyce in the middle of it, he's definitely talking about shoring up some of those defensive assignments, try and cut off those paths with help. But, of course, they're going to have to provide some help for the big fella Nile Scott, which then does open up some of those other areas on the floor for the Rangers. So, Crims

are tied with their hands full here early on, down by nine. Still long way to go, but they're going to need to write the ship and turn the tide here, so to speak, and not let this one get away from them too much. When you're on the road, you don't want to let that homecourt advantage start to set in against you. >> Yeah, John. And and it's going to be tough, like you said. Uh you got the big guy, Nile Scott, who's just absolutely crazy at getting rebounds. And then you have your two guys who keep going under underneath into get the points. Alexander Santiago and Javvon Deleó. It's it's going to be tough for the Tide, but if there's anyone that I can that I think can make it happen, it's going to be

Jerry Boyce. We've seen it time and time again where he makes the adjustment and then we come into the next into the next play and you can see his impact. >> No, there's no doubt about it. They've always responded well after his timeouts. Let's see what they have in store after this break. Crimson Tide basketball here. Oh, that's a good look for Vasquez. Oh, nice. Incredible. And normally Vasquez is known for the fadeaway. He'll get inside the paint, do a little move, take a step back, take the shot, but I tell you what, that was just an absolutely great play by Vasquez there. And a great play by Nile Scott. Another two points for him. >> But you definitely like what you saw from that last trip offensively for the Crimson Tide. Vasquez coming off

the screen, getting the opening, shooting with confidence. He's got all five Crimson Tide points right now. But then again, on the other end, you're seeing why Nile Scott is a major problem. He's a big guy, but he's got really good feet. Oh, that's a corner free. That one doesn't fall. Good aim right there. Good line. Just a little long. traveling violation will give it back to the Crimson Tide. Going back to that last position, I'll take that all day. We've seen Alind Door. He can heat up in that corner pocket. We like him getting that look. That was a good look. Yeah, John. But what I didn't like, what I saw there was Alendor, he did not follow the ball. You got to get the rebounds, especially when you're coming from behind. Now, granted, you're

only eight points down, but you're eight points down. Let's show a little hustle. Let's show a little backbone and follow the ball. Get your own rebound. Put that back up. And a good strong take by Samir King Dosta working against Scott. And what's what's important right there is that he just had Scott pick up a foul. And if there's one way you can neutralize this big fella, attack him, maybe get him into some foul trouble. I think the best way to handle him is with him off the court right now. >> Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Like you said, he's the biggest guy on the court right now and he's doing he, you know, the points speak for themselves. He's already got seven points on the board. >> He's got seven. Mthuan has 13 spread

across three players. Seven for Scott, four for Santiago, two for Deleó. >> Now, I'm not a big math guy uh like Andrea Delgazo is, but uh that's that's a little more than 50%. >> That is a very good uh very good percentage. I'm not going to exactly say which one it is, but definitely more than 50. Uh you're right on that one. Oh, good hands by Vasquez. Great play. Then finds eight Muserude who does a nice job getting it away from the top defense by Deleó. Little bit of a scrum for the ball. Bodies hitting the floor, but another foul. And is this on Scott again or is that on Sweetzer. >> I mean, either way, it looks like it is on the Rangers. >> It's on Santiago. No, it's on the Rangers. I was

hopeful it was on Scott because again pulling for the Crimson Tide here. Scott is a he's a bad man. Okay, we need him on the bench, but he's a great player. I say that with the ultimate flowers to give out. What a great player he is. >> He's got a great shoe game going on today. >> He does have a great shoe game. Look at that. Oh man. >> I you know the strawberries, right? >> We always appreciate the shoes that these players shoe game. I love him. >> Is that is that a Nelson on the court? >> Yeah, we got that first sighting of a Nelson. It's in the form of sophomore Nathaniel Nelson and he'll take to the court replacing Jaden Sanchez. It's the thing you want to look out for for Nathaniel

Nelson is he his threes, man. He can make those all day, every day. Oh, we got King Dosta on the ground on the other side of the court. Uh hopefully he's okay. >> So, King Dosta injured right now. >> We hope he's okay. Yeah, he is one of the young leaders on this team and you know >> it it'll be a big loss with him out. >> You're absolutely right going back to that previous play. Some really good defense challenging sweeter at the rim uh by Vasquez and then coming up with the rebound right now the Tide especially where they're giving up a little bit of size. When there are opportunities for those defensive rebounds, they have to get them. You cannot give second and third chance opportunities to the Rangers. In some of the

games that Everett has lost this season, it has been getting a little bit outplayed on the rebounding side, especially when it comes to teams getting those offensive rebounds. So, if they can try to shore those up, they'll be in pretty good shape. But right now, our attention is on Samir King Dosta, who is being helped up by the Mthuan trainer along with the official while one of the Crimson Tide assistant coaches looks on. That's Cif Booty out in the floor giving him a check and he'll walk off along with the Mthuan trainer. a Al Dalano giving some some attention over to King Dosta. So, >> it's great to see that he's doing it under his own power. >> Absolutely. >> So, he naturally he checks out of the game and he's replaced by senior David

Xavier, who we've seen provide some good minutes in spurts this year. So, let's see if the senior can provide that. He likes that baseline jumper from above 15 ft. That's kind of his shot. >> Yeah. And the thing that I I like whenever David comes into the game is he's a defensive animal. You know, it a lot of his stats aren't the things that you see on the score sheet. It's the things that he does outside of that. You know, when he's on the defensive side of the ball, him and Sanchez, uh you know, two players, two seniors, and defensively heart and soul of the team. >> No doubt. No doubt about it, Justin. All right, so let's see if they can get into their offense. They've had a hard time kind of getting into

their offense. Nice screen set by Xavier. He rolls to the basket. Vasquez gets it back to eight. Mus >> Vasquez now working one-on-one. Oh, that's a nice shot right there. Doesn't fall. Xavier with the big rebound. Put back's good. How about David Xavier? Presence felt immediately as he checks into the game. Nice job by the senior. This is a six-point game. Tide starting to get it going now. Uh oh, that guy though. Watch out for him. Nile Scott. Keep an eye on that that gentleman. Every time the tide have started to rise the waters a little bit. Scott and the Rangers seem to temper it down. Oh yeah, >> you said it. I'd love to see Nathaniel get going. He can provide that outside shot which which is going to prove to be big for

the Tide in this game. Yeah, and right now it looks like that is honestly all the Tide have to offer. I mean, the the Rangers have almost completely shut down the in the paint game there. And the three-pointer is going to be where where you looking. So, big names to look out for here. Alendor and Nelson. I don't care which Nelson, they can both shoot threes. Well, I tell you what, David Xavier is showing up and he's ready to go. Big time turnaround jumper with the friendly shooters. bounce goes and the Tide continuing to hang around. Good D right there by Xavier. How about David Xavier right now? >> Talk about it. Yeah, David Xavier is making plays on both sides of the ball. He's doing exactly what he needs to do in this game

right now. He's getting the rebounds. He's making the defensive plays. And he's keeping the tide in this game. Huge. Huge. Four points. Big block right there. Coming up with some big plays. Just imposing himself. He's working against Scott who by the way now Scott leading the Rangers with nine points. So you could see the problem that he is. Oh, and we have bonus. This is penalty situation. That foul will puts the Tide at the line. And who else but David Xavier to take the two freebies coming up. 27 seconds left in this first quarter. >> And that's not to say anybody else on the Tide isn't putting in the the work because honestly, Christian Vasquez is keeping this team above water as well. He's making plays both sides of the ball. He's doing his job

and you know that coach is happy with his performance right now. >> Avasquez, he gave you the five points. He has a couple steals already to his name, a few rebounds in the right place defensively. He has helped steady the waters for the Crimson Tide while David Xavier has just ri he's just risen the level. Eight Mus's always going to give you his minutes. Saul Flores has checked into the game along with Nathaniel Nelson and Jade Alendor. Also is the one if we can start to get him cooking. This is where things can really take off. And of course, you know, I love me a Nelson 3. >> Yeah. Listen, Alendor, if you get him, if you get him cooking and if he starts heating up, that's when the game really starts to change for

the Tide. He's a phenomenal athlete and really, really can just play basic ball and get the points. Oh, good D by the Tide, but wow, what a basket. Got to tip your hat to Javian Deleó who makes that shot. I mean, that was really good defense. That's just better offense on a really difficult layup to make. We've seen Deleó do that a few times. I mean, that's that's that's how you get it done right there. And but you know what I really liked after the first three three plus minutes weren't great for the Crimson Tide. They withtood what Mthuan threw at them. They had a really strong finish to the quarter. Now, Mthuan really hasn't taken their foot off the gas pedal, so still finding themselves up by seven. But I tell you what, that

was a very entertaining first quarter. We could be in store for a good one here. >> Yeah, Josh. Uh, I tell you, this is exactly what I said was going to happen. Once Jerry Boyce gets a read on your offense, our defense is going to start to pick up. I wouldn't be surprised if we came out and he's got the fullourt press on. The Tide are known for it. They're very good at delivering results when they do the full court press. The only problem with it is that it does hit the gas tank and it's hard to sustain. So, you know, normally these games he's starting out with it and we're starting fast, we're starting strong, but maybe I wouldn't be surprised if we see it coming into this second quarter. >> Yeah. And again,

you know what's wild here, Justin? Talk about it. The scoring between the two teams for Methuan, it's spread across three players. Nile Scott leading the way with nine and then four a piece for Santiago and Deleó. And then for the Crimson Tide, you don't have to look further than two players. You got five by Vasquez and five by Xavier. I'm sure that's going to change, but uh 17 to 10. It wasn't a rock fight there in the first quarter, but uh you're only seeing some some helping hands from from a few guys. That's not to say the other guys on the court aren't doing their part, but again would love to see Alendor start to cook. He traditionally hovers around the 15 point per game mark. Oh, that's a good look for Nathaniel Nelson, but

a little long on the three. A little too much oomph on that one, but he'll get that ball back and we'll see. We'll see Nathaniel Nelson. >> I love the look. >> What an athlete. Javon Deleó. >> As as this game progresses, Deleó actually appears to maybe be the most impressive. Uh I again I'm not going to speak ill of Nile Scott, but the way he attacks the basket. Oo, Xavier nice look. Doesn't go. And Deleó again. You better get back defensively. The track shoes are always on. Yeah, the the one thing and you know I'm picking um I'm picking on him a little bit cuz I know he can do better. Alendor is not following up on the shot. He had a wide open lane to get that rebound and and didn't. Uh but

who else but Scott? >> Yeah, he's been a force going to the basket and Deleó fed him right away. >> And what's more with Scott is he is perfect at the line right now. Often times big fellas, one of the things they have problems with is maybe at the foul line. Nile Scott is a perfect five for five at the line to go along with 11 points. And that is the Rangers lead right now. >> Mathan continuing to to apply that sticky halfcourt defense. Vasquez working against Scott will go to his fadeaway. >> And that is the signature Vasquez shot. Whenever he's in trouble, he's going to go to that nice fadeaway. And I want to say at least 80% of the time he makes it in your face. >> No, he does. He does

a really good job. He separates on it very well. So, he ends up basically getting himself a clean look. And even against the bigger Scott with the way he explodes into that fadeaway, he gets a good look at it. That's why you see such a high percentage of those makes. >> Yeah, John. But the one thing that I need to see from the Tide here is you got to start working on the perimeter and start making some threes because like I said, the the Rangers defense at it looks impenetrable inside the paint. And that's what I'm talking about. If this were any other team, Alendor, he always finds a way to penetrate, but the Rangers are just doing a heck of a job defensively to keeping the tide out of the paint where the majority

of their points are usually scored. >> That's well said, Justin. Well said. And right there, you know, Alendor, when he drove to the basket, he ended up seeing a double team, and it's a lot easier for for us to, you know, see what that looks like. But you you got to you got to know where your guys are on the floor. or if there's a double coming your way, that means someone's leaking out. You got to try to find them. They got him in no man's land underneath the basket and it it it led to a Mthuan turnover. A Methooan steal, rather, an ever turnover. That that first attempt was no good by number five, Robert Elante Soraniano. He actually misses them both. Good rebound by the Tide. Still down by nine. Vasquez again, good

job handling. gets to his space on the floor. Ooh, that one just misses. But again, good look. Well defended there. But I I'll I like that look. That's That's solid right there. When things are bogging down, at least Vasquez is able to get his shot. But definitely want to see some more movement. There's a problem. Yeah. And the I I think the issue is is historically Everett is a very rounded team, right? They they like to pass the ball. They like to uh you know maneuver the points around to different players, but right now it looks like Vasquez has to play selfish ball. And I don't know what's going on with uh with the Tide right now, but you need to get your head in the game and you need to start playing basic ball,

pass the ball around and look to the three-point line. I couldn't have said it better myself. That's exactly it. He He has to kind of take the game on right now. It looks like just looking at it, everyone's everyone's about a step slow right now or a little hesitant I should say. The effort's there, but there's a hesitation. There's a second guessing and a lot of that has to do with the Ranger defense. There's no doubt about it. But you got to get into your sets. You got to do what you do that got you here. Vasquez is definitely ready for the action. And he's kind of had to take a little bit of an onus on taking that into his own, handling the isolation offense. Yeah, the Rangers definitely playing some mind games here

because like the Tide aren't playing like they would normally. You know, this is this is not what we are used to seeing, but how they're still playing phenomenally. You know, they're they're down by 10. Uh the biggest uh difference of the day was 11, I believe. >> Correct. Uh, so, you know, we're we're slowly but surely working our way back, but it's plays like that that are clearly drawn up for these specific players. Uh, that seems it it seems to be stumping the Titan. That's what Jerry's saying right now. He's like, don't focus on the player. Focus on the ball. Let's just make this happen. Let's get the ball rolling. Let's score some points. And you know, we we need to do something. Oh, traveling violation. Really? >> Unfortunately, no replay on that today. >>

Yeah. Yeah. >> So, Mthuan basketball after the travel. I've liked the Crimson Tides defense. They they again the effort's there. There's just the best way to say it is it just there's a little bit of a hesitation offensively. It's it's it's becoming mental right now and they need to get out of that. They got to get into instinctual basketball. Play the way you know how. They've they've utilized good crisp ball movement all season long and that's how they've been able to really have the season that they've had. Right now it's it's it's a little bit stale offensively. Vasquez though looks to get into it working against Sweetzer. >> Nice cut by Sanchez becoming available but they're going to call a traveling violation. >> Yeah, he took one too many steps there and you know when

you're in the heat of the moment unfortunately that does happen but again they got to do something for Vasquez here. I mean we we got to move start pushing the ball around and like I said yeah I think your best shot against this Rangers defense is that three-point line. I'm saying I think we need a little Nelson squared up in here. >> Yeah, you you need something anything to help bring a little bit of of of life offensively. Oh, that's got to be a rebound there on a foul on the rebound attempt by Santiago. Again, Cryotai defense really attacking when when the ball goes into space, doing a good job closing on their lanes. The defense is actually starting to show up right now. Scott's a major problem. There's nothing your defense is doing wrong

there. He's just big man being exceptional with the basketball with good touch. So, you got to try to limit his opportunities. He's got 13. He's been stuck on 13 for a few minutes now. So, that's that's a good sign. But tied still down by 10, but still within within shot shots to make this. Vasquez, good look. Gets it. Doesn't go. That's a good look though. That's what you want to see offensively. Josh, you really got to give it to these Rangers, man. They're they're looking really good on both sides of the ball. And my god, what a well coached team. >> Yeah. No, they're definitely uh they are well coached. Ryan Middlem is the head coach and he is certainly doing you could see his guys are pretty locked in and with some talented players

as well. Good defense by the Tide, >> but nice job by Deleó finding Scott and then Scott just doing what he does best providing to be too much to handle. Really good job. The defense forced Deleó into the corner, but Deleó running out of real estate. Found a quick pass to find Scott and then Scott getting around and off the window. He's done a really good job. >> Yeah, Josh. >> 15 points, >> I tell you. Uh Scott does a really good job at finding himself open. Now, it's not hard when you're a few inches taller than everybody else on the court, but he does a really good job of not only uh you know getting the getting the ball and being open, but also making points. Yeah, he's he's been exceptional. He's really he's

been tough. I mean, I I between him, Deleó, and Santiago to an extent, but especially Scott and Deleó, that one two combo is really showing itself in a big way. You have Scott with his size, but then again, what's what's not to be missed is how quick and soft his touch. He's got quick feet, soft touch, and then you have Deleó who just puts the ball on the deck, can explode to the basket. that also shows up defensively. His quickness and athleticism is fully engaged defensively. So, this Ranger team proving to be very difficult right now. The Tide are there and they can they can continue to close on this margin. Just be sure of yourselves offensively. Have that confidence. Work the ball around. Get into your sets. You can do this. >> Big piece

of that is King Dosta is checking back in to the game. So, we have our starting lineup back out there and we're going to see what they can do. Uh, you know, Jerry Boyce just gave him a big old pep talk. Gave him a couple plays to look at and let's see what that does for the Tide here. And he also had some some instructions for Nathaniel Nelson who's over at the scorers table. He'll be checking in at next whistle. Eight Mus shot doesn't go. And that's Dylan Sweetzer with his first three-pointer of the game. >> Not his first look at it, but he's got a really nice shot. And another one of the Rangers that just if you find yourself open, you got a pretty good chance of making that three. >> Vasquez is

going to get a good look at it. That's no good. Eight. Muserude wrestling for the rebound. We're going to have a jump ball and that possession arrow. I have a basket in my way. I I actually I think it's over at the scorers table. The possession arrow is not displayed on the scoreboard. So, it looks like it's going to be Mthuan basketball. >> I don't like that. >> Yeah, I don't either. It's it's it's a nice feature. Um but still, you know, on the scoreboard helps us out. >> Maybe they have a arrow just like kind of dropped down from where the flag came from. >> I tell you what, that thing was awesome. player of the game right now is is is the flag and the way it dropped down. I I've never seen

that. That was awesome. >> You know, athletic director Tammy Turner, when you're when you're re-watching this broadcast cuz you're sitting out there in the crowd. >> We see you. >> I think we should get one of those. >> Yeah, we should. I'm going to look at there. There's a branding on it. Looks like Morgan is uh the manufacturer. There's a couple other names. >> We'll shoot you an email about this tomorrow. >> Yeah. Yeah, we we'll shoot you an email. And uh it's going to again this is going to come out of the athletics budget. I mean we we have the great ideas. Well Mthuan really I mean we're just it's copycat league, right? Nice take by Xavier. He's giving you everything he's got tonight. Good drive to the basket. >> Yeah. And every time

Xavier comes into the game he's making a big impact. You know whether it's offensively or defensively. You know, historically, Xavier, he's a defensive player, but he's making a huge impact for the Tide offensively today. >> That's right. And again, don't look now. We're a minute 58 from halftime. Only two players have scored for the Crimson Tide. Vasquez has eight. Xavier has five. That's wild. >> Yeah. No, I And it's very uncharacteristic of this team. Like I said, Josh, I think the the Rangers really gotten their head with their ironclad defense. Once you get past that mental boundary, we're going to start to see Alindor uh, you know, take his sweet spot in the corner. We're going to start to see the Nelson's come on board and start making points. But the first thing that [music]

you need to do is get past that mental block and then you can start making the magic happen. Well, again, good defense on display. It shows up right there, none other than Vasquez. and then the ball went out of bounds off of the leg of Cory Brown. So, Crimson Tide basketball, but the good news here is it's a 15-point advantage. Not position A, but given the circumstances, that's not a bad place to be. You haven't played your best basketball. We've seen a lot of times where the Crimson Tide have had sometimes the real strong first half with with a low in the second half. Perhaps they reverse course here and just find a way to get to halftime, keep the damage minimal, and then explode in the second half. Oh, that's a nice take. Good

job by Alador. Oh, it just rimmed out. I was just saying that that could get him going. >> Just found a way out of the basket. >> Tammy, get the bubble. >> Get the bubble level. >> Want to see the bubble level. >> Oh, had that not go. Everything was right. Alendor saw an opening. He put his foot in the gas pedal. He went nice to the basket and the ball just rimmed out. Tough break right there. >> But I'll tell you that play uh might give him the confidence to try that again. Josh, it was it was just barely barely tipped out. And Alindor loves doing that technique. He loves he loves the layup. He loves rushing the lane even in traffic. We've seen him become inhuman when he does these shots. So I

wouldn't be surprised if we see him continuing to retry that. >> Yeah. No, absolutely. He did everything right. That explosion showed itself. That's good D by Vasquez once again on Xavier. Xavier was also involved maybe not blocking the shot but altering and we've seen Deleó make some acrobatic layups tonight. That one doesn't fall. So really good possessions now consecutively for the Tide defensively as as we enter the last 35 seconds of this first half. Let's see if the Tide can get another one back. Try to cut this to uh to to 13 12 points. Let's see what we get. Yeah, you got to give it up to Deleó, man. He's he's putting in all the effort athletically. He's got the jets on. Uh what a what a phenomenal athlete. He's he's special. It's it's explosion.

I mean, he is special. >> The Rangers wisely taking the last shot with the shot clock turned off. We're down to five seconds. going to have to shoot it. That doesn't go. >> Vasquez almost made that. >> I tell you what, that was a good look off of Vasquez. Good defense by the Tide. Way to finish that half. Not a bad place to be. Much better basketball coming from the Tide down by 15. That can change in a few possessions. Again, I'm going to take I'm going to take the glass half full on the Crimson Tide side. Really good possessions defensively. You said it, Alundor. while that basket didn't fall for him. He put his foot in the ground, went to the basket, got loose. Perhaps that's the confidence he needs. Hey, I know I

can get there. >> And then for the Rangers, impressive. >> I mean, they just got to keep doing what they've been doing, Josh. They got to stop the ball defensively and honestly just keep finding Scott open. Uh he's got an uncanny way of, you know, not only finding himself open, but following up and he's just a phenomenal athlete. Now again, the height does help, but if if I'm the tide, I don't even know who to look for between uh you know, Deleó and Scott. I probably would want to cover Scott a little more. He is the point um you know, the point leader for the entire game, but >> boy howdy, it is it going to be difficult. >> Yeah. Well, let's see. Reset button is officially been hit for the Crimson Tide. They are

into the break now at halftime. down by 15. It's been all Rangers, but still not without some of that Crimson Tide punch that could make this very interesting. We'll be back with more action here in the second half. Don't go anywhere. [music] >> [music] >> Hey, [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Yeah. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Hey, Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hey, [music] hey, hey. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> There we are. All right, so we're just moments away from the start of the second half. If you're just joining us, the Rangers of Methuan up by 15. If you've been here, you know that there's still a long

way to go. Crimson Tide 13 points has come by way of two players. Christian Vasquez doing what he typically does with eight points leading the way. But it's been five big points from the senior, number zero, David Xavier, that's making this happen. We need some more to join the party and we're hopeful that they will. >> For the Rangers, tell us a little bit about how they've been able to get to the place where they are right now. >> Josh, I mean they they got three they got four players who got points on the board right now, but you know that there's only two of them that in my opinion have made the biggest impact. You got Javon Deleó who's just a absolute athlete. Finds an open lane. the king of the layup on the

court right now. But on the flip side of that, you got Niles Scott, the big guy. He's the biggest guy on the court who's really good at finding himself open and a perfect so far three-point uh thrower. And you he finds himself open. He's got great followup and just all around it. It's incredible. If I'm the tide, the way to stop the the Rangers here is to stop number 50, Nile Scott. >> Nile Scott, it couldn't have said it any better. He has been nothing short of outstanding. He does it in a variety of ways while working down in the post, but he he slides off screens very well. Not only is he a big guy, he moves very well. And then he's got a great touch around the basket. And then you said it,

perfect at the foul line. He's five for five at the line. oftentimes you get a big guy, usually they do everything right, but then they become masons at the line. They're building bricks. Not Nyall Scott. He shoots it like like a shooting guard with tus with nice touch and then he does everything else he does. And obviously he's a presence defensively just given his size and the way he moves. So he's big time. Javon Deleon has been nothing short of big time either. So the Crimson Tide are going to have to really shore up those ends, but they're doing what they can. I really don't have a problem with the Crimson Tech. Defensively, they're doing everything right and I think they can get back there offensively. We talked about it. It's not an effort thing.

There just seems to be a little bit of a a a hesitation that we we can see it. The Ranger defense is strong. So, I get it. It's easy. It's easy for us to say, but I think Alendor, if you can get him going, >> that would really turn things around. You can't ask for much more from what you're seeing from Vasquez and David Xavier, but let's see if we can get Alendor going. And then all of a sudden this thing can change for for as bad as it looked at times. You're only down 15. Here we go. Second half now underway. If I'm the tide here, Josh, I'm looking at the three-point line all day, every day. Although Alendor, he's going to play the way that he's always played. And I'm not going to

be one to argue with the big man. He He's a great player from underneath the basket. He uh it was that foul was on the floor. Uh but underneath the basket, he he's a bully and we need to see more of that. >> Yeah, that's exactly what you want to see. Also with a hard cut to the basket. That's something we've gotten used to all season long. Almost thought it was in the act of shooting, but that's in the act of shooting. And that goes big time basket by Vasquez off the window getting things going. Continuing to do what he's [music] done. He simply has poured in 10 points to this point. >> Yeah. And Vasquez, you you know, we said it earlier in the uh in the first or second quarter. Um he's he's

having to play selfish ball right now and and that's because, you know, he just can't seem to find anyone open. Now, if I'm the tide, I need to help support him because right now the Rangers, they're going to be looking for the Va Vasquez push. But if he makes a turn, slips it to, you know, the outside boundary, and we start making the three-point game happen, the Rangers might be in some trouble. I tell you, look itself right there. And you're down 12, Justin. You're down 12. >> I like this look. I like this new defensive look. Make them go for the threes. Got to get those rebounds. But I like the defensive look that the Tide is showing in this third quarter. Oh, that's a push. >> Nyall Scott continuing to be major big

time down low, >> but they did so there with some offensive rebounds. Really good defense that you had said. >> Yeah, but I mean the name of the game right now is you need to get the rebounds. There he is. Christian Vasquez. He loves his fadeaway and we love seeing it. And right now they're playing on our side of the court. >> Oh, I love it. He's cooking right now. Vasquez with 13. But there's the guy you got to watch out for. Oh man, that's just that's just not right. He's going to start showcasing that touch from the outside, Nile Scott. Again, he's the guy that you need to stop. He's the the leading scorer in the game. Uh Nile Scott, phenomenal athlete, but he's got to have a weakness. And if you're Jerry Boyce,

that's what you need to find right now. >> Good luck finding it. 19 points for Scott. 15 at the half. Quick four to start things off. >> Again, this is this is what I was saying, Josh. The the Rangers are just going to try and isolate Vasquez now. He's made all pretty much all the points. Sands the ones that Xavier's made. But if you isolate him and put him on an island, it's a team sport. Josh, let's start throwing the ball around. Let's start going for a little something different because clearly what we're doing right now is not working. No. No. Absolutely. But it gets to him with some space there. >> Oh, nice look. Great job finding the cutting Sanchez. But that one just rims out. Good bid, Sanchez. Nice job getting back into

the play. Uh-oh. There goes Scott. Who else? Who else? Josh, I'm going to I'm now going to go to the score sheet down here. I'm just going to write the number. So 21 cuz I'm running out of space on my score sheet cuz uh that's literally what you call filling up the sheet right now and Nile Scott is doing that. So 21 points for Scott, six for Deleó, four for Santiago, and three forer. So yes, Justin, you are correct. This is the Nile Scott show. They are getting what they need from Deleó and the rest of the cast. But when you have a guy with 19 points, >> 21 points. Correction. I just did that. [laughter] And uh he's beating Ever right now. He's beating Ever by three. Ever's got 18. He's got 21. >>

For the Tide, look no further than Christian Vasquez. That's been the story all season long. All career long. He's got 13 points. He's He's doing it. There is There is a different pace now to the Crimson Tide offense. I I I'm I'm liking it more. The problem is Mthuan's not slowing down and Nile Scott's not slowing down. He's not going anywhere. So, I I think at this point you continue to do what you can offensively and then see if you can maybe attack him. He does, I believe, just have the one foul. That's the biggest thing. Uh the biggest neutralizer would be to getting him in foul trouble. I'm not sure there's a weakness in his game. >> No. And and look at the focus. So, you know, we're taking a a good look at

him right now. Uh look at the focus. You know, that doesn't appear to be out of breath. Doesn't appear to be anything. He's just here to do his job and he's doing it well. >> He's well put together. I it I'm not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a football player with his kind of build and with him being the size he has on the court. I mean, that would certainly show up as a behemoth on the grid iron as well. He's a big big fella. >> And this is more of what we normally see by the Tide here. You know, they're setting it up, making the play happen. And oh, just rims out for Vasquez again, Josh. Yeah. And they're going to call Vasquez for the foul. >> And unfortunately, you know, those

fouls are going to happen. Uh I mean, what if when you're trying to make a stop that it's what happens >> once again at the in in the the prime of it is JV Deleó. Euro step to the basket. That does Rim out. I mean, it's wild that only four players have scored for Mthuan. Two for Everett and four for Mthuan. And it's not like it's a, you know, a seven to six game. Deleó goes one for two, seven points now. But I tell you, Josh, I do like the look of the Everett defense uh at at this point in the game. you know that they they made some adjustments at the half and it's looking a lot better. Uh the only thing that I would say is you you need to do what the

Rangers are doing to you right now. You need to isolate their point score and that means you need to isolate number 50. And Alendor cannot catch a break today. And that was such a great look. Great pass. Alendor made the right cut. Just unfortunately didn't get it to go. The Tide fortunately get the ball back. So let's see if they can make up for that. that possession and that doesn't go. David Xavier's shot does not go. But nice offense from the Tide. Just need to see one fall here. >> Good rebound by Alindor. Yeah, that's going to be huge is getting these defensive rebounds. >> Christian Vasquez, as he always does with the little fadeaway. >> He's got 15. And that's the Tide deficit right now. >> If you take a look at the Tides

defense right now, they're all there's always at least two people surrounding Scott. And I think that's the correct decision. No doubt. >> You need to put him on an island, make sure that he can't play with his team because everybody else hasn't proven that they can be a big scorer like Scott. And honestly, from the past two plays, it seems to be working. I I like the look of the Tide defense coming out of the half. >> It's been there. It has been there. They get a few more stops. I I I'm liking the life I'm seeing offensively. It's It's starting to come in. They just got to get some more stops. Quick entry goes to Scott. Nice job by Xavier on the original defense. And I love eight Mus on the help, but they're

going to call the reach in right there. Eight. Muserwood really came in nicely after Xavier tried to provide the most resistance he could. Giving up some size to Scott, but but not the strength by Xavier. Nice job just digging in deep, giving you what he has. Really like the game that David's playing here tonight. >> I love the effort. Good D by Xavier. >> Yeah, I mean he they're they're doing a great job trying to isolate him, but >> again, he's got a couple inches on everybody on the court right now. And you know, he he's really good at finding himself open. >> He knows he knows how to dig down low, >> camps out down there. And why why not? >> Continues his perfect streak from the line. Six for six at the foul

line. >> That's going to make it seven for seven. >> It's 23 points for Nile Scott. >> Vasquez finds Xavier. Nice move by Xavier. >> Oh, great job by Vasquez. able to tip it out to Nelson. >> Nelson for three. Oh, just rims out. Good luck. But I like it. I like finding a Nelson in the three-point area. I love the steal from Nelson. Unable to follow up. And Apoo just got a piece of that. It's going to be Rangers ball. But I like the effort that I'm seeing so far. you know, they're they're keeping uh Scott in on an island uh with their defense, but they're also not afraid to make the plays. You know, Nelson steel right there was huge. And if they keep rolling, if the tide keeps rolling on that, I

think there's a good shot for him. >> That's a big three. And that's the first three we've seen made by Deleó. Now enters the double figures on the score sheet with 10 points. You know, it's too bad if we could have had that possession back. Nelson had leaked out to the corner and he had just missed that previous three, but he showed me he was right on. I like his effort right now. Would have loved to have seen if he could have gotten that that look right there. Um I I think he was looking to take it. >> But right now, Rangers with their largest lead, they they've doubled up the score up by 20. And this one I do know, Josh. This one is Everett has 50% of Methuan's uh score. And I think

even Andrea Dogazo would back me up on that one. Andrea, if you're out there listening, I'm sure you can confirm that's good math. >> [laughter] >> Josh, the Tide are in a bit of a drought here. >> Yeah. No, it and you know what, Justin, like I had no problem with the way they started that half. It wasn't even so much that I don't even have a problem with with how it's Mthuan's the problem right now. Mthuan is just not going anywhere. And now they've added they've added an outside shot. Nile Scott is actually continuing to get better if it's possible. He's gotten better as this game has gone on. You just you're you're up against it right now and you just got to tip your hat to the Rangers. They're really doing they're doing

all the little things right. >> Still got to play it out here. 245 left in this third quarter. >> Yeah, you said it, Josh. The Rangers are playing almost perfect ball here. I mean, they're finding uh Scott at any given time that they need someone inside the paint. He's a lethal weapon from the free throw line. He's big. It, you know, they clearly centered their entire offense around him and it it's working for them. But again, I think the Tide have a chance to really isolate him uh and, you know, make sure that that doesn't happen again. But you're not going to do it like that. >> No, certainly not. Good defense right there. >> Try to get this to 15 to close out the third. Vasquez. >> Who else? >> 17 points for Christian

putting together a really fine performance as he's done many a times. >> But look at that ball movement. See how they move it around. >> Josh, I couldn't keep track. I couldn't keep track of where the ball was for Methooan. And Dion really loves that. And this is what I'm talking about when I when I'm talking about the rebounds. Every every single time anyone from Mthuan goes up for the ball, it doesn't matter if they know that it's going in. Every single person on that team is going after the rebound. >> Yeah. No, it's it's the way they were attacking the basket. Yeah. Some good defense, but to finish off the good defense is hitting the defensive rebound. And the Tide unable to do that in that last possession by Methuan as they've continued to

keep this lead at 20. >> Yeah, they've just done a really good job keeping the ball on their side of the court. Um, we got a Nelson in. >> Yeah, and he did a real nice job defensively. That is Emanuel Nelson on that last possession. Eight. Museroo's going to try it from three. That one doesn't go. Tai just can't get one to fall from the outside. That was halfway down. >> Oh, good D by Xavier. Still stays with the Rangers. >> Good D and more importantly, clean D. Uh that's going to be Kungu. Uh who went up and then did what, Josh? He got his own rebound. >> Got his own rebound. They stay with it and Ravi Kungu with his first basket of the night. >> Yeah, but that's that's not what I'm seeing

from the tide. If you look here, the the entirety of underneath the basket was white shirts. I mean, you you may have had Xavier who could have potentially had a shot at that rebound, but we're not going after the rebound the same way that Methooan is, and it's it's hurting us. >> I know it surely is. And one thing with the tide, you just got to you got to find you got to find ways to put bodies. You got to put bodies on that defensive glass. Even if it's on the guy who shoots it, you got to immediately box out. It's fundamentals. But again, the Rangers have uh they've they've really attacked it. I'm not seeing too much support for Vasquez there. And it's really unfortunate to see from the tide. We We know that

they're a team uh that can play together. Uh but right now we're not really seeing it. We did see it right there though with Nathaniel Nelson on the fifth on the three-pointer. But you know, it took a while and took some struggles to get there. And maybe that's what you need what the Tide needed. They need a little bit of that adrenaline to kick in so that they can say, "Oh, wait. No, we do know how to shoot threes." And that I'm going to be so real with you, Josh. That's probably the only way you're getting back into this game. >> Yeah, you got to start to uh heat it up from the outside. I really liked everything I saw to finish that last possession of the quarter. Saul Flores did a really nice job

moving the basketball. Vasquez in in all the glory he's had with making baskets has also done a really nice job finding cutters to the basket. He was looking for one there. Saul Flores kept the ball movement and then it found Emanuel Nelson who has been no stranger to knocking down three-pointers. That was big. The Tide needed that. They have their work cut out for them. But this is why we have 8 minutes left to play. This is why you play four quarters. So finish with some confidence there. Some momentum a little bit. Down by 19 going into this third. try to get that outside shooting going and then just just simply do the best you can against the likes of Nile Scott and everything that he's done. I mean the the game speaks for itself.

The numbers speak for themselves. He has 23 points. He hasn't missed at the foul line. There's really nothing he's done wrong tonight. >> Yeah, Josh. I he he's been he's been quite frankly he's been the Mthuan Rangers here. like I if it was just him, >> they'd be down by two. Um it's wild. >> It's absolutely incredible. But I think you're absolutely right. I like what I've been seeing from the Tide defense. Uh I I like that they're, you know, trying to isolate uh 50 uh Nile Scott. And it's hard to do, right? He's he's very slippery. You know, he'll he'll find himself open and he's really good at the followup. But if if we could continue to do that and then find our stride in the three-pointers, it's the only way you're going to

win this game. >> No, that's that's it. That's got to start early and often. >> Did you just come up with that? >> No. >> Cuz I know you you love getting early. >> I love Hey, love getting early. It's my Oh, no. I drove the van here. If my car was here, that'd be in the back. Got to send Joe Camley to go get it. >> Oh, that'd be great. >> Look at Joe Camley over there. >> He's our video engineer. >> Is he Is he telling Is he telling them to stop talking about him? Because >> No, I don't think so. We We'll never stop talking about you, Joe Campbell. >> I think he loves it. >> I Oh, yeah. But you know who else loves it when we talk about them, Josh?

>> Yes. >> Athletic director Tammy Turner, who is here. >> She is here. In fact, she's just in front. She's just in front of our uh our our cameras there in center court. >> Get a little little tilt down. >> She's literally two rows uh in front of Bird Marchant and one Vesselin Theorough. >> I I'd really love it if we could just get a nice shot of Tammy Turner. Uh you know, Steve Gallagher is here. Uh we got Coach Rob as well. >> They are just a couple Oh, there it is. >> Oh, there she is. >> Live shot. There's Tammy Charammy Char >> enjoying some conversation. There's a live That camera is live right now. Doesn't Here's a camera that's live that doesn't know it. That's okay. We love it. >> The tilt.

Love the tilt friction you got there. A little resistance. Maybe tighten up the plus sign a little bit. That's fine. Great job, guys. Love it. Love Tammy Turner and Steve Gallagher. The job that our athletic director and assistant athletic director have done all season long. Love our crew, too. What a job they do. And how about David Xavier? I love the job he's done coming up with a steal off of some active hands by the Tide and Vasquez with a strong drive to the basket. Tide going to empty out the gas tank here in this final quarter. >> Yeah, I mean, you got to give it everything you got, right? You got to It doesn't matter if there's an open lane or not. You got to make the drive. You got to uh, you know,

go into the paint and make make the plays happen. Alternatively, you can fake the play, go to the outside ring where we know we have three-point shooters and hopefully do a little more of that, but get the rebound just like that. >> Oh, that was great effort by Sanchez and Saul Flores. >> Yeah, and Sanchez, he's really good defensively. Not a lot of points uh offensively, but my word, >> good defense there by Santiago knocking that away. And this is what I was talking about. This is what I wanted to see at the top of the half. Jaws, the Tide are really good at the fullcourt press. And honestly, I'm surprised we didn't call it earlier. I mean, you're down by what, 21 blackjack. And you you need to uh you need to make things

happen. Also really unlucky today. Really uncharacteristic of him. >> That was a strong take. A lot of that, I'm sure, has to do with Nile Scott. And then Scott gets followed by Xavier, who's given it everything he has. Xavier really having a very strong game tonight. Nile Scott just just in another atmosphere with his game. >> Yeah, he's got 25 points. I >> mean, there's nothing really else you can you have to say there. He's got 24 points. I I mean I you know he's now he's he's currently up by one over the Crimson Tide. And again I I say that not disparaging anything at all to to the Crimson Tide to our Crimson Tide who are giving it everything they have. It's more of just like Nile Scott is a next level player. >>

Yeah. Next level. >> It's big props to the Rangers for being able to, you know, focus their entire offense around getting it to him. And uh real credit to Nile Scott for finding himself open. He's just, you know, we we've said his name a ton this entire game and really deserves a lot of credit for making, you know, the score what it is right now. But what I'd really like to see is the Tide start to pick something up here. And maybe this is how they're going to do it. >> Nice. Nice job. Ooh, nice take by Flores. Good job by Saul. >> Oh, nice look. >> Nice job by Vasquez. Really good offense by the Tide. Flores at the front of it. >> Yeah, Flores kept finding himself open, but you know, uh, he

had a wave of Rangers in front of him, but was able to make a few different passes there and just make that play happen. Real big props to Flores. >> Oh, nice job by Sanchez getting in there. Flores now wide open layup. >> Good job by Saul Flores. Jaden Sanchez with some timely defense. That's the effort. When that effort is is there, great things happen. And that effort then permeates into strong and good confidence. So nice job by the Crimson Tide. We've seen the effort there defensively. Mthuan with a lot on the offensive end, but now that defense starting to show itself, getting some good offense going for the Crimson Tide. Nice job there. Tied down by 18. They got it under 20 now for the first time in about a quarter and a half.

I mean, towards the middle part of that third quarter, we saw Mthuan go up to 20 and now the tie down to 18. 553. I mean, this, you know, who knows? This could still get wild. It It's going to take a little bit of both. We We do need Mthuan to cool off. Best way to do that is continuing to be in the right place defensively. The problem is when you have a cheat code like Nyall Scott, you can be in the right place defensively. We have been for much of the evening. He's just been I mean the guy his touch around the basket you you you can't you can't say enough about it. >> I mean he he clearly hit the up up down down left right left right be a select start. Uh

which gives you 99 lives. Uh and I think he's used up all of them hopefully. >> Grand theft auto. >> No no no. What is that? Actually, I actually forget. Joe, what uh what game is that from? >> He doesn't know. >> I think he said Frogger. >> No, it's not Frogger. >> Come on. Come [laughter] on. >> You don't know. >> But no, it was great. Yeah, we're uh but the the cheat codes can can sometimes show up. And Nile Scott has one tonight. Yeah. >> And again, what a player he's been. And like I said, Javon Deleó has earned a lot of it, too. Great defense by the Tide right there. Puts out of bounds. It's coming this way. There's a ball. >> And again, this is what we wanted to see at

the start of the uh of the half. You know, the fullcourt press. The tide is lethal when it comes to the full fullcourt press. And if we had done this earlier, maybe it would have been a different game, but also maybe could have gassed this out. I don't know. I'm not coach Boyce. I can't make these decisions. I'm just a guy who talks for a living. >> Nice take right there. Good roll to the basket. Tide got it now to 16. This is as close as it's been since the first half. >> There's the downside to the fullcourt press, though. I mean, if if you find yourself uh if they can find themselves out of it, they're going to make a big play like that. And that's going to be number four, Cory Brown. That's

a big time three. Tight. Tight starting to get some momentum back. Cory Brown answers with the three. And just like that, it's back to 19. Not to be discouraged, though. keep playing. >> Yeah, I mean, you need to get some threes of of your own there. Great job by Sanchez. You know, unfortunately, that was just a bad pass or, you know, maybe misread the play there. Uh, but great job by Sanchez trying to get the ball back and unfortunately didn't go his way. >> I tell you what though, one thing that always shows itself with Sanchez, the effort is always 100 m an hour. He He tried getting back into the play, got a hand on the ball, then he dove on the floor. Like I just I always enjoy watching how hard Jaden Sanchez

plays. [screaming] Comes up with that rebound immediately pushing the pace. Sees a nice take to the basket. That doesn't go. >> Uh that was the Konami code. Uh and it was for uh Contra. >> Oh, Contra. Yeah, I was a big Contra Free guy when it really was way ahead of its time on the Super NES. It was outstanding. Contra, of course, it started back with the original on Nintendo. Can't go wrong. Flores is making himself known on this court right now. He's making a lot of plays happen and it if I'm the Rangers, I'm a little nervous if I see Flores coming my way. >> Yeah, Flores is having a game. And right there again, Flores comes up with the steal over to Sanchez. It's now the cutting Vasquez. And how about Saul Flores

getting it going for the Crimson Tide defensively teaming up with Jaden Sanchez. Active hands getting busy. And now Christian Vasquez. Oh, this is going to be inbound underneath. >> Yeah, it was on the floor. Although I don't think uh I don't think the Tide realized that yet. >> Yeah, there was a little bit of a delay getting over there. >> Flores will inbound. Nice walk by Flores to Alindor, but better defense from the big guy, Scott. >> Good effort by Deleó. Out of bounds. >> The The entire Rangers team is not leaving anything on the court right now. >> They don't. And that is Crimson Tide basketball. I think the official mistakenly pointed the wrong way, but yes, you said it. This Ranger team, talk about emptying the gas tank and might be a hybrid.

They might be there they might be more there. It might be electric, but >> it's it's it's really impressive. >> And talk about Johnny Goes on the sideline here with the FX3. He's taking pictures. He's taking videos. He's doing a great job. >> Call that a hybrid right there. Johnny goes, he knows his way around a strong reel. Another strong take by Vasquez putting the pressure on the Rangers defensively. You see that fadeaway. It doesn't go, but the foul does. It was called before the shot. >> Vasquez really having a game. >> Both teams tied at three fouls a piece in the quarter. >> Vasquez leading the way for the Tide with 19 points. And Scott is the game's leading scorer with 27 points. >> Josh, I tell you, um, when when the Rangers were

prepping for this game, they had to have watched a lot of Alandor and how he plays. They are playing defense particularly against him very well. It's that they haven't been able to or what they've done is they've made it so that one of our top scorers hasn't made an impact in this game. It's it's you have to credit you said it. No, it's not. It's it's it's you said everything >> very well. The Ranger defense is has been been up to it all night. And then you see Dylan Sweetzer with the drive to the basket, the hoop, and some home. And he gets the three-point play to go. And he's made a three-pointer also tonight. He's got six What did you see there, Josh? What' you see underneath the basket? >> Yeah, you you you

see you see white jerseys there. >> I didn't see any black and red jersey. >> Yeah. No, you got you got the Mthuan the Mthan Rangers hitting that defensive glass. >> We're not going to win this game in the 3 minutes 39 seconds if we keep just letting the Rangers get the rebounds. And Coach Boyce knows this, you know. Again, I'm just a guy who talks for a living. Uh I also edit some videos, you know. I do I do other stuff, but for right now, I'm just talking for a living. >> Little bit of tech. >> Yeah. With a little bit of tech, you know, I dabble. >> Heard you uh taking care of the kitchen there. A little culinary. >> Oh, yeah. Running a couple lines, you know, for my uh >> helping

out Dennis Dennis. Little little power over Ethan PoE switch. >> Oh, we taught him a little something. But, uh, you know, Jerry Boyce, you know, he he knows the game, you know, he he knows how to win the game and he knows how it's played. Uh, and right now it's just unfortunate to see that we're not able to, you know, make the plays happen, Josh. And a lot of it, and I a lot of it's uh, Nile Scott, right? A lot of it is, but a big part of it is the way that the Rangers defense is built. We said it all game, the entire time, the Rangers defense has looked almost impenetrable. And the only one who seemed to have gotten like like a clue on it is Vasquez and Xavier. And yeah, you

know, they're they're doing really really well, but unfortunately that doesn't win you ball games. and and against an outfit like the Rangers, you it just it has to be all across the board. So, credit the Rangers. And then how about this big fella, new new into the game for the Rangers, number 33, a junior, Justin Feliz. No shortage of size on that uh that Ranger bench. >> Yeah, it's a big He might even be taller than Niles. >> I say I'd say he is. Uh I'd say he is he's he's he's very tall. He's He's probably 67 68. >> He's about 67, you'd say, as the kids say. >> 6 67. >> See what you did there. And I like that. >> But yeah, credit the Rangers tonight. >> Yeah, I mean, home field and

they showed up and they they demonstrated why they've made it this far. You know, it it's it's postseason. They're not sitting at home right now watching the game. They're playing the game. >> And for the Crimson Tide, there has been no quit at all. They've played very hard trying to find something. >> I tell you what, Vasquez has been phenomenal tonight. Here's a guy who when you give him the ball, he's going to make the play happen whether the other team wants him to or not. He's going to get in your face. He's going to fade away. He's just a really great athlete, Josh. >> I I love it. I gotta I gotta It's It's one of the best. >> That's when you pay a little homage to one of the best. Chris Collinssworth. >>

Oh, >> no one does it better than you, brother. >> He's my favorite. He's my favorite, Josh. You wear it. Well, you know, it's the here's a guy. I had to do I had to do it. >> No, I was It was well said. And it it goes to who who better than a guy named Christian Vasquez who's got 21 points who's really been just masterful tonight in his craft going deep into his bag and does so again. And the only thing that I didn't do was uh you know compare him to Patrick Mahomes but I tell you what that looked like a throw from Patrick Mahomes. Here's a Muserude. Nice take by eight Muserude. What I what I find pretty interesting is that we haven't seen too much aggression from eight Muser this game.

Uh cuz normally, you know, we're saying his name like 15 times a quarter. Uh but I think that may have been the first time that I've said his name all game, Josh. >> Yeah, it moves. Nice take to the basket right there. And a lot of this has just been the Rangers starting five very very solid across the board. Obviously, the boatload of the scoring came by way of Scott and then you saw a lot of JV and Deleó, but every single player in that Ranger uniform really commits to the defensive end. And it it helps that they have size at all positions. Good job by a Musulude along with Sanchez coming up for that rip from the big guy Feliz. Vasquez tries it from downtown. That doesn't go, but Xavier, >> yes, thank you.

We're finally getting the rebounds. unfortunately unable to follow up with them, but the fullourt press is still on. >> They're playing hard. >> Yeah, I mean, you're in the last 2 minutes of the game. Uh you're down by 19. The only way you're going to make this happen is a miracle, Josh, but I believe in the Crimson Tide to make this happen. >> I tell you what, nice drive by Vasquez. You always play hard for yourself. You play hard for your teammates. You play hard for your city, your coach, your community. And you're seeing that from the Crimson Tide tonight, embodying Coach Boyce and the effort and discipline that he instills on the team. And the Mthoran Rangers obviously embody that under the head coach Ryan Middlem. So, we got minute 37 left here in

this one. There's a look at that Crimson Tide side. Let's look at coach Boyce hugging some of the seniors who are going to be walking off the court for the final time in a Crimson Tide uniform. An emotional moment right now you see Coach Boyce having with none other than >> Christian Vasquez, one of the leaders. >> I think I saw a little bit of blood on Christian Vasquez. >> I'm not sure. I I saw that earlier. I don't know. It might be red tape. I I think it's red tape, but I I I do see what you're you're you're pointing out. I think he's got some red tape on his shooting hand if we can get a look at it. But at any rate, a really nice moment there for Coach Boyce, Vasquez, David

Xavier, Jaden Sanchez, Adam Muserude. You go up and down the list. Saul Flores, Benji Joseph, Tyrese Joseph, J Nelson, Jachazio Labrena, and Isaki Duza. All the seniors for the Crimson Tide, >> but especially that moment with Boyce and Vasquez. What a career Christian Vasquez has had. What a game he had tonight. 24 points. He did literally everything he could. Outstanding career for an outstanding family that has that has brought it here playing for the Crimson Tide over the years and uh it's always been fun calling the Vasquez name. >> Yeah, for the past four years, right? >> Yeah, for the past four. And prior to that, we had his brother Roger who I see in attendance here tonight. Roger Vasquez looks like uh again a really terrific family and just nice class by coach Boyce

as he always displays along with his staff and the job they do never losing sight of the moment or the picture. >> So you I'm sorry Justin continue. >> Oh no you just lost control of the ball there. Uh you know emotions are running high right now. Uh, understandable. Uh, but you know, you were saying Josh. >> Yeah. No, just just saying, you know, of course you always want to see this season extend. It's not how you draw it up, but this was still another really fun season. One that we've enjoyed calling. >> Yeah. I mean, it's been an absolute blast, Josh. I mean, we said it a couple games ago. I I really didn't commentate before this, right? I mean, I I would do the odd uh softball game with you. uh I do

the middle school tournament, but uh it's been a real pleasure to one grow my skill set and also, you know, be be able to enjoy the victories, but also feel the losses uh for the Ever Crimson Tide. It's been amazing and I really happy to do it with you. >> You're the man, brother. You're the man. Couldn't Couldn't do it with anyone better. Love calling these games. This is fun. I mean, we we we have a good time and uh we enjoy the highs and we feel the lows, but that's because we're in it and that's that's the community that's been shaped. >> We feel for each other. We battle for each other. >> Yeah. >> And again, we always we always recognize the other side. >> Really strong performance by the Methooan Rangers. They

will be they'll they'll be advancing. They're going to they're going to head to Attelboroough this Friday night. Attel, I believe, is the seven seed and they had a buy. We know I'm sure they're in attendance here watching this game. >> Yeah. Yeah. And they uh uh they're going to take a long drive down. I mean, you're you're talking about the almost northernmost part of the state all the way down to almost the most southern city, right? >> Uh no kidding. >> Yeah, that'll be a drive, but one that the Rangers will be happy to take. >> Oh, yeah. >> Fuel up the bus and uh they'll they'll be heading to Attboro this Friday. A match up of uh the Blues. You got the Rangers who wear blue against the Attboro blue bombaders. So yeah, >>

uh there'll be a battle of the Blues Friday night down in Attboro. >> I mean, there's still a minute 11 seconds. If they play the game perfectly, get every steal, get every three. Tide could come back here. Uh but unfortunately, uh I don't I don't see that happening, Josh. >> Here at Larry Clemus Memorial Fieldhouse, home of the Rangers, we've enjoyed bringing you the action. >> Oh, absolutely. >> It's been a lot of fun. And again, you're seeing it. So, the Rangers have also gone into their bench, too. They really, for the most part, they played their starting five, but you don't really see too much of a drop off here. >> It was a great game played by both sides. I mean, the Nelson's are in. That's something to get excited about. >> Nelson

squared. >> Nice. Oh, Nathaniel Nelson, excuse me. >> And what what a career they have ahead of them. Nathaniel and Emanuel. >> Yeah. What we're looking at right now is most likely going to be next year's start at five. >> That's right. >> With the exception of Saul Flores, he will part ways to graduation. He's a he's a senior, >> but he really had a strong game tonight. But everyone else, >> nice rip by Flores. Good strong take. Just rims out. >> But you got the sophomore, the big fella, Kim Adams Dormavville. >> Mhm. We talked about Jay Nelson. That three-pointer is good by number 20 Reed Solivaris. >> Wow. What a take by what Nathaniel Nelson's doing right now. You know, he's going out in style. He's going to show you what he's got,

what you got to look forward to next year. and just an absolute game, an absolute athlete. Love Nathaniel Nelson. Love my Nelson squared as you know. And Josh, that is going to be it with Mthuan taking it 63- 41. And they're going to be taking the long drive down to Attalboro on Friday. Any thoughts to wrap up the uh the basketball season actually? >> Yeah, this is this does it, Justin. This is our final production of the basketball season. This wraps up the winter athletic season. Of course, a very special thanks to to all involved. Uh especially our athletic director, Tammy Turner. >> Oh, you got to love our athletic director, Tammy Turner. She's not listening to me. She's ignoring me. >> Of course, all of our folks at administration, our superintendent, William D Hart.

>> Oh, yeah. >> All those involved. It's It's been quite a quite a uh a ride and we're always happy to do this and bring you these productions. We really do. We We enjoy everything we've done and brought all season long. >> There's Johnny Go. >> We got Johnny Goes on camera. Of course, a very good crew as always. As always. But we've had a lot of fun bringing this productions to you. >> Yeah. >> And this this will wrap it up for us. >> I I'll tell you, uh our crew does a phenomenal job, Josh. I we we love working with them. We we've known these guys for years. Some of them uh were students beforehand. We're actually all of us uh you know, Everett High alumni except for we have one exception, but

we'll we'll we'll accept it. We'll accept it. Uh but our director Tony Lelaw, he does a great job. Uh our video engineer, Joseph Camley, also does a great job. Stream Tech Jeff Natio. He's he's amazing. Best in the business is who you want when your stream is going. Uh we got camera one, Jonathan Bird, Marsha Hunt, and camera two, Vestelin Thorough. Bird's giving me the Hey, let's wrap it up. So, I think we're going to end it there. And uh Josh, it's been an absolute pleasure doing this with you. There's athletic director Tammy Turner. And I'll tell you what everybody, I think we'll see you next season. >> That's right. Yeah, we'll uh we'll see you next season. Stay tuned for more productions coming your way. But that wraps it up here on the basketball
