>> [music] [music] >> Heat. [music] [music] Heat. >> [music] [music] >> Good evening everyone. everyone and welcome to the big house on the big hill for the home opener for our Ever High School girls basketball team. I'm Josh Delgazo joined alongside Justin Han. We have a greater Boston League matchup coming your way. It's the Chelsea Red Devils taking the short ride down from Route 16 taking on our Everett Crimson Tide. Our girls lost their opener the other night in heartbreaking fashion to the Malden Golden Tornadoes. It was a wire-to-wire game. 44 to39 was the final. Maldin was led by a player who had a near triple double with 30 points. Our girls fought valiantly, but they are looking for their first win tonight and they get to bring that here right on campus and ever.
Justin, what are we looking for tonight? >> You know, Josh, I'm just looking for a really good clean game. Uh, you know, coach Riley Dun, she's been doing this for six years. This is her sixth year. Obviously, uh, she was the assistant coach to coach Tammy Turner, our athletic director now. And I'm really looking forward to see how the girls perform. Uh JV just won their game uh 31-13, but we're gonna send it over to who's who is that Chris Miller? >> That is the beautiful pipes of Chris Miller. And we'll send it down to him as he brings forth our starting lineups and our national anthem. >> First with the visiting devils, a freshman guard number 13, Jalia Santiago Lazada. Starting at guard, sophomore number four, Fatima Eman. >> A sophomore forward number 24,
Lydia Castillo Rodriguez. >> A junior forward number 20, Taia Young. [cheering] >> And senior captain guard number one, Monica Ces. >> And now for your ever crimson time. A sophomore guard number three, Julia, >> guardian guard, a senior number 10, Ariel. [screaming] [cheering] [applause] Your senior captain forward number 12, Nicole Nal. [cheering] A senior captain guard number 15, Katherine M. [cheering] And your senior captain guard number 23, [screaming] KC. [applause] At this time, we ask you all please rise and move your head for the playing of tonight's national anthem. Thank you. >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat up >> [music] [music] >> here. [music] >> [applause] >> All right, an excellent job as always by Chris Miller bringing our starting lineups into the fold. And we are ready
for some basketball here on a Thursday night, December 18th, as we approach the holiday break. We have a half day for the students tomorrow and then they begin their little uh siesta. Not a bad not a bad deal. >> No, I'd say, you know, I remember uh way back in high school, however long ago that was. I always looked forward to the to the break. You know, you get a little pause. It's cold outside. You're going to stay warm, stay inside, or if you get a little snow, maybe make a little money shoveling. >> Tell you what, there's a lot of good factors to take in right there. It's it's the season of cheer and joy and um it's it's it's a great time. No doubt about it. But we're going to bring forward some
basketball before we get there. So uh why not? Let's do it. Crimson Tide wearing their home white jerseys. Chelsea in the black and red. A very sleek look. Crimson Tide starting five. Sophomore number three, Juliana Rivera. Senior number 10, Ariana Rouse. Senior co- captain number 12, Nicole Damaseno. Senior co- captain number 15 Cat Landovery and senior co- captain number 23 Casey Martinez >> and Everett started out pretty well there. I mean unable to get the layup there but let's see what we can do here. A nice pass by Damaseno to land a verdy but unable to get it go. Good defense by the Red Devils getting back into the picture and that's going to be out of bounds. [cheering] That was Lydia Castillo Rodriguez with the out of bounds. >> And the starting five for
the Red Devils. Number one, Captain Monica Sespetes Cruz. Number four, Fatuma Iman. Number 13, Jaya Santiago Lozada. Number 20, Thea Young. And number 24, Lydia Castillo Rodriguez. Oo, nice drive. baskets good by Jalia Santiago Lozano. >> And I tell you, Josh, she made it look easy there. You know, great job reading the Crimson Tide defense getting up, making that layup as easy as easy as pie. >> Yeah, that was that was a nice basket in transition. Red Devils led by head coach Bruce Harrison. As Justin mentioned in the pregame, Riley Dunn in her sixth season as the girls basketball varsity head coach. Juliana Rivera from three. Started last year as a freshman, now a sophomore. Expecting big things from Rivera. A terrific player and what a future that lies ahead. >> And Josh, I I
was actually really surprised when you told me that she was a sophomore. you know, that might be the tallest person on the court out there. >> Yeah. No, Justin, it's it's the best of both worlds. She she pairs great height with a a guard's skill set. She can handle the basketball very well. Sets up her teammates. A great long range shooter. And then obviously with that height, she can get a lot of rebounds for you. Lander Verie out in front running the break finds Casey Martinez. Corner three. That's no good. >> Near miss for Casey there. >> Good luck though. Good luck. And Case I I you know we've said Casey's name a lot. She is an athlete. >> Yeah. No, Casey >> in the every public school system. >> Casey a terrific athlete. We
know her very well from the soccer pitch. She is a terrific girl soccer player. Actually just had her highlight reel made the other day. Uh Joe Camley had put in some some sweat equity into that one. And of course you get a good look at this replay as Rivera that swipe was deemed a little bit too much on the hand. But yeah, back to Casey, a really good athlete and uh nice to see her doing her thing as a co- captain. And she's a leader, too. She's a captain in every sport she plays. Lando Verie with the rebound. Casey, nice crosscourt pass to Rivera for three. That doesn't go. Rebound by Damaseno doesn't go. I tell you what though, Justin, if they're going to get those looks from the corner, I I have no problem
with them taking that shot. That's a nice look. Those girls can make that shot. >> Yeah, Rivera, you know, like I said, she had the height and she was just a little bit short on that one. And if she straightens that out, gets a little more distance. She's going to make that shot every time. Casey Martinez though, just making it look easy. Getting Everett's first points on the board. That's going to make uh the game two to3 Chelsea. >> Strong take by Martinez heading to the basket. Throwing it off the window. Ty needed that. >> Great defense there by number 10 for Everett, Ariana Roose. >> Nice look from Martinez. again crosscourt pass finds Rouse in the corner. No good. So the Tide 0 for three on threes. They are getting the corner given to
him. Maybe that's a part of Chelsea's game plan. Daring them to shoot until they make it. >> And again, just a little bit short, Josh. You know, maybe they'll warm up enough uh or maybe just [cheering] getting into the swing of the game. But we're about halfway through the first quarter and like you said, 0 for three for threes. >> I still like the look, but you definitely want to try to knock down one of them soon. >> Yeah, for sure. You don't want to you don't want Chelsea to start getting away with it >> because I did like Martinez's uh take to the basket. Just you know what, put the ball on the deck and then head to the hoop. So, we'll see if they can generate that. right now at the foul line
is number 13. That's Jayia Santiago Lazada who has two points to her name. Unable to make that first free throw though, [cheering] sinks it. [cheering] And I believe that is a timeout called by Everett. >> Yes. >> I'm a bit confused and perhaps I missed one here. So So Chelsea has four points. They just had three. Maybe I might have missed a free throw. Santiago Lozada made a layup. >> Now that's two points. >> Y >> no one seems to be disputing that. >> And then there was a free throw. >> There was a free throw. >> Yeah, there was a free throw before. >> Someone went one for two and then another one went one for two. That's great. >> Okay. Excellent. No, thank [snorts] you. Do we know who else was at the
foul? unfortunately didn't catch the number. It may have been uh >> Lazada. Does Lazada have all the points? >> It may have been Lazada. >> Okay. >> Well, thank you. I appreciate that. We're on air and we we we show transparency here. You know, that's right. >> Uh if I'm confused, I'm going to tell the folks at home I'm confused. >> Here's a good look at Martinez's layup. >> Great take. >> What a great look. And what a great shot by our own Anthony Laidlaw. >> Yes, >> he's going to kill me for calling him Anthony. >> Yeah, I know. [laughter] Big T as the kids call him, Tony, but uh that is his birth name, Anthony. And that was a nice shot. Nice job by our replay, Bird March, and slowing it down. Good
job all around. See, now Casey, if you could just find the happy medium between there. Great grab by Rouse. Yeah, Rousey got her her uh the wheels to get that one. Nice put back by Nicole Damaseno. >> Damaseno also plays volleyball. Yes. Yes. We got the uh we got we got that info from our very own Francancy Deloo. >> You can't lose with the lose. >> Never. Never. >> Francancy Doo, the JV volleyball coach who uh we share a studio with. >> Oh yeah, >> she's great. And that basket was scored again. >> Lazada >> really filling it up so far. Yeah, she's doing a great job. She always seems to be in the right spot at the right time. And you know, good for Chelsea for taking advantage of that situation. >> And how
about that? Lozada only a freshman. >> Future's looking bright across 16. [laughter] >> That's right. Yeah. Yeah. The other night with the boys game, we had the battle for Ferry Street. This one's the battle for Route 16. >> That's right. But you know what? I'm just going to say it. Everett's definitely got the better side of 16. We got the double Duncan. No, we got the double Duncan for sure. I know we get close, but we got the KFC and we got the uh >> Taco Bell, right? It's right there. >> So, I'm going to I'm going to ride with that. >> I like it. >> I like that so too. They got an auto zone right there. That's not where I went to get my wiper fix, but I would have if I was
near it. [cheering] >> That was a great block by Rouse again. >> Yeah, Rouse showing up on the defensive end. Lando Verdie now taking no time to get out front. That's going to be Ever Ball on the tip out by Chelsea. Nice defense by the Red Devils. >> Chelsea still hanging on to a 6-4 lead and we're pretty sure all six points belong to Lazada. We'll get confirmation on that when we get stoppage. It'll likely be at the half. >> It's going to be a timeout called by the Red Devils. They they just need to center themselves a little bit better, I believe. Uh, you know, it's a fast-paced game basketball. It's not for the faint of heart. need really good cardio and you know running back and forth taking a break every now and
then it's not the worst idea. >> Not at all. And again, good good solid start to this game by both teams. Here's a look at the replay. Martinez with a strong take in traffic. Rebound goes to Damaseno. Cleans it up right on the doorstep. And that's a nice put back going high off the window, keeping the ball high in her catch radius. Nice job by Damaseno making it very difficult for the defense to impede that shot. Just a really great play alto together. >> And always love to see the picture and picture on the timeout. Shout out. Shout out to our director uh Vesselin Thorough. >> Vessel Throw a senior for a high school taking the reigns. You know, normally Josh, I'd be directing these things, you know. Uh directed all throughout football season, but
Vest has really come into his own and we're very proud of him. >> Vest does a terrific job. one of our uh all-star seniors and uh he's definitely leading the way. Vessel and throw if you know >> throw it >> finds Rivera drives to the basket in traffic. That's going to be a foul and Rivera is going to go to the line shooting too. Really nice job by Juliana putting the ball on the deck. Putting some pressure on that Red Devil defense. We talked about it. We don't we don't hate the looks we're getting from three but they're not falling right now. So sometimes you just got to be a little bit more aggressive. attack the basket and then hey if not you get these opportunities you go to the foul line shooting some freebies
>> and at this point you're just looking to get the points on the board again this is this isn't a high-scoring game yet I mean we could see it turn around very quickly and that's one way to do it Josh uh Rivera clearly listening to me one for two goes Rivera both teams have yet to go into their bench yet starting fives are pretty much looks like they're going to max out this first quarter as we got 239 remaining here. Not that that's a a rare thing to see, but if both teams make it without going into the bench, that's that's a little something. They're riding that starting five, that's good. The conditioning, it's going to be a matter of conditioning, right? We talked about that. >> Yeah. Again, it's a it's a really fast-paced
game. And >> nice >> landie on a beautiful steal. >> Yeah, great inbounds there. You know, it almost went out of bounds. Landed Verdie took control of it. >> Great stop there by Damaseno. >> What a steal there. And now the tide really starting to turn up the heat defensively. >> Rivera was looking for Martinez there unfortunately. >> Oh, nice take. >> 13. Lazada the top scorer for Chelsea. >> Lazada with an impressive take. Euroep heading to the basket in traffic. Absorbs the body contact. Welldeserved trip to the line. Real recognized reel. That was a big time take to the basket. Wow, Lazada is impressive. >> Yeah, we're talking a freshman. I mean, >> you're a freshman making varsity basketball, [clears throat] you know? I don't care where you are. That's impressive. >> Yeah. And
and you're not only making the team like Look at this. Look at the Euro in between Rouse and Rivera. Rivera landing awkwardly on the tailbone. That looked painful, but it's all right. She got up. She did. She headed to the bench. She's okay. Not for the injury purposes, just to again get get some bodies in off the bench. And replacing Rivera is number five, Abigail Falcowski, a sophomore. So, a sophomore replacing a sophomore. Martinez with a good look at the three. Unfortunately, did not make it. And Domoseno couldn't get the rebound this time. Did you play? >> Did you win? >> Now Josh, I believe we had a substitution for Chelsea. Number 20, Thea Young came in. I was watching the girls warm up earlier and she could be a key player here. She was
nailing the threes earlier. >> Yes. Yes, that was noted noted in warm-ups. We'll see if she'll pair up with Lazada. Try to provide some scoring for the Red Devils. >> Although Everett, great defense there, forcing the travel. [cheering] >> Yeah, really good D right there by the Tide. And by my count, Lazada has all seven points for the Red Devils. The tide score sheet is is very balanced right now. Damaseno with two, Lander Verdie and Martinez with two, Juliana Rivera with one. >> [cheering] >> And that's going to go out of bounds. >> And that was a great play by Damaseno. Just put her hands up. No need to get in front of that ball. No need to touch it. Just let it go out of bounds. Get your ball. >> No, that's smart. You
know, no one's around you. Reset. As we enter the final minute here in the first quarter, a tie game at seven. Landie driving baseline. Quick pass. Good ball movement around. Finds Rouse from the corner. It's >> so close. It's right there. >> So close. Uh by my count, and you could correct me if I'm wrong, it doesn't look like Everett's made a single three yet. >> They have not. They have not. They're 0 for four from three-point range. They've all come by way of the corner. uh two from two from each corner and some of them I mean all four of them >> they're right there >> have been right there so it's a shot you do want to encourage and Chelsea is just you know really abandoning that area defensively during the Crimson Tide
two shooting good defense again by the Crimson Tide really have turned up the pressure defensively some active hands 3 36 seconds left. >> Yeah, Josh, they're looking pretty good out there. I mean, we we say it all the time. It doesn't matter which sport. A good defense is a good defense. If you could play D and let your offense take care of the ball, no matter which sport you're playing, you're going to do well that game. And right now, both teams playing great both sides of the ball. However, number one, Malise Celero. Oh, no. Monica >> Ses Cruz, >> one of the captains. >> Sorry, didn't uh Didn't you notice that there was a zero? >> They got a zero on the roster. >> Sorry about that. >> No, that's a that's a I could
see that one. I got >> Cruz with a great three though there. >> And at the buzzer. At the buzzer. Abigail Falcowski gets it in on a beautiful dish. And what a first quarter we just had. Fowski got a nice feed >> after Chelsea was was feeling real good about the three they just made. Right just before the buzzer sounded, Falcowski gets a beautiful dish on the doorstep and we have ourselves a one-point game. The Red Devils on top 10 to nine in a very spirited, well played first quarter. Josh, I really love the fact that Abigail didn't give up there. you know that they just scored a three right in your face and Abigail Falcowski came in, grabbed the rebound, shot it up, put it up, got got you the extra two points, keep
it within that one score range and it's it it's really great to see. >> No, that was that was that was really nice basketball right there. >> Got to look at our officials here. >> That's right. >> They need water breaks, too, Josh. >> Absolutely. They do. They do as much running as the players do on the court and they don't usually have there's no substitutions for them. >> Speaking of land of verdies, is that uh the boys soccer coach Rodney Land of I see in the stands there? >> You are correct, Justinian Luther. Rodney Landervery always here supporting our many athletic teams and just anything involved with the school. Ultimate school spirit on display with coach Landervery and what a job he has done in his second year as the varsity boys soccer coach.
They are in great hands with that young man. He's a terrific teacher in the classroom. We are all fans of Rand going to take it out for the tide. [screaming] Cat land. He tries to corner three. That one doesn't go. Oh, and that was the first one that that was not on the mark. >> Martinez with great defense. You know, just looking at Martinez's face while she does the defense. We We had a We had a living room picture right there. She's in the zone right now. She's focused and you love to see uh an athlete like her get get serious. Yeah, that was definitely the look of someone hyperfocused. And how about the drive to the basket? Doesn't go. >> Damaseno again under the basket. And great job. Clearly a great rebounder. >> Yeah,
Damaseno. Second time she's gathered at the basket, but wasting no time. It's Jalia Santiago Lazada once again adding to her scoring prowess. She has nine of the 12 points for the Red Devils. Oh, how about the turnaround, baby? >> Cat landerie. Catland Verdie. >> Great play. Lost the ball. Got it back. Lost the ball again. Got it back. Put it up. Got the two points. >> That was a big time hoop by Catwanderie. [cheering] >> Just a great play. >> Turn around on the baseline. Not much space to work with. Oh, what a save. Great hustle. It It was ruled out of bounds, but not before some great hustle by Damaseno, who was really making her presence fell, showing up on the offensive glass. Those four points were by way of Damaseno. >> Check this
out. This is Land of the Land of Verdie. >> Take us through it, Justin. Listen, she she lost the ball, got it back, and just easy as pie with defenders in her face, got the two points. And it's something that you just really do love to see. [cheering] And I tell you what, while that was happening, Lazada continues to stay in her bag, coming up with the steal, attack the basket. I believe the basket did not count. Here's a replay. Look at Lazada. goes to the basket. And quite frankly, I I guess they they ruled the foul before the shot. Yeah. >> Um I guess there was a foul before that cuz I absolutely saw a basket with continuation. But if the referee saw a foul that was just before that, that was the call.
So Chelsea basketball nonetheless. Three-pointer going down once again. The second three made by Monica Spennis Cruz. That's big time. Two for two from downtown. And now the Red Devils showing some offense that's not just by way of Lozada. You're going to have to keep an eye on Suspice Cruz. >> And she's doing a great job of finding herself open. >> Uh-oh. Lozada's out running the pack. Good defense by Martinez. >> But you know, Martinez, great defense. But let's talk about Lozada keeping it in bounds. She was walking the tight rope going down the court. And I got to tell you, with with the way that Martinez was playing the defense, that's an athlete right there. She's doing a really great job. She always seems to be in a in a great spot for the Chelsea
offense. No, that's it. She stays in front of her defender very well, cutting off any angles that lead to the closest path to the basket. And Lazada's got a lot of speed, so you have to really get on your wheels to defend Lazada. And Martinez right on Q with the steal. A beautiful pass out front to land. That's how it's done. Martinez showcasing the highlight right there. Nice finish by Landanda Verdie. >> Just a great steal by Casey Martinez. And this is what we were talking about. She's a leader on the court. Number 24 is going to I can't speak right now. Number 24. Listen, we've done two two days of announcing. Uh but number 24, Castillo Rodriguez is going to grab that for the for the Red Devils. >> Hey, it's amazing. We're we're
uh at decibel reading right now for our sound because I don't know how we have voices left. We've been doing this all week and uh it's been a lot of fun getting after it with you, brother. But yeah, absolutely. Definitely the the horse is in the barn without throats for sure. >> I don't know if anyone can ever see it while when they the camera gets to us, but I have just a pile of cough drops next to me. Just making sure that I can speak. >> I love it. I love it. We got a tie basketball game right now. 17 all, 452 remaining in the second quarter. Both teams putting on a show. Very impressed. >> I tell you, Josh, I didn't know what to expect because we haven't seen the girls play yet
because unfortunately they did play in Malden uh on Tuesday, but they're putting up a heck of a fight. >> And again, there she is. Casey Martinez. Who else? And I tell you what, Martinez really showing off the passing. Lander Verdie with a really nice move. Doesn't fall. Look at Martinez. How about that defense? Red Devils had a twoon-one break. Numbers against them. Martinez put her back to the basket, defended as close as she could. Can't say enough about the job Casey's doing right now. >> Rouse. >> And there it is, the three. >> We were waiting for it. Rouse had a couple really close misses and Ariana Rouse buries it from downtown. Big time shot from the senior. >> And I like the play that Everett's doing here. You're on a roll right now and
you're you're not backing up, giving Chelsea room to breathe. That's a really tight game. So, you're going to play defense whether or not they're on their side of the court or yours. And it's been working for them. They're on a tear right now. >> Ralph's got the hot hand. Oh, he was halfway down. But who else to get the rebound but Damiseno? >> Damaseno. Six points all by way of the offensive putback on the rebound. >> And she's doing a really great job because most of the time she's in traffic, Josh. She's got two girls on her and she grabs the ball, throws it up, no problem. [cheering] >> What a great game. >> This is great. >> And I tell you what, I I do like this >> the Oh, yes. So, this is
the three-pointer by Rouse who sticks it from the wing. >> And that shot not brought to you by Tony Lelaw. That's going to be Evan the Hub Hubard, a graduate of Everett High School who we love to bring back. >> Yeah, great shot by the hub right there. And then after that, here's a look at this one. So, this was a three-pointer that rimmed out for Rouse in the corner right after she made the three, but Nicole Damasceno was all over that putback >> and she had Jamari Guerrero right in her face the entire time she was putting that ball up. What a play by Damaseno there. >> If I'm if if I'm Coach Dunn right now, you got 333 left in the second quarter. You're going into the half. You're up by three. I'm
giving my girls a break right now. Uh, you know, Chelsea called the timeout and it's probably because Everett's playing very aggressively. They're they're always on the attack whether they're on offense or defense. And you got to give your girls a break because they don't know where Everett's coming from. The tide is rising and you better get out of the way. >> Tide is rising. Sounds like a show, Justinian. >> I like that. I like that too. Rivera with the nice drive. Doesn't go. Stays alive. Chelsea tries to get it out. Martinez. Who else comes up with the steal? Quick pass to Land of Eddie. We've seen that before tonight. >> We have. And again, this is Ever's play style right now. They are attacking, attacking, attacking, and it's been working for them. They've been on
a pretty good tear here. and let's see what they can do when the defense comes to the Chelsea side of the court. >> And what you're seeing from these Martinez steals is that Casey is finding the pass right down. [cheering] And that's another threepointer, the third three of the evening. >> All by Monica Sespetes Cruz. She has been killing it with the threes. I don't think she's actually missed one. I could be wrong. Um, we've seen there's a lot of ball that's been played so far. I don't think she's missed a three yet, though. >> No, I'm going to rock with that. I believe she's three for three from downtown. >> We'll try and keep track as we as we go. [applause] Little conversation between the officials right now. >> Yeah. Right. >> Let's show
Let's see if we can try to gather what's happening here. >> Looks like Riley Dunn had a question and uh it is being answered. >> Riley Dun appears to be unfased from the answer. Albeit I'm not sure doesn't mean it was agreed on. >> [cheering] >> Good >> effort by Landanda Verdie, but >> yeah, >> unable to come up with it and she was the last one to touch it. >> Yeah, Everett's really been killer on the rebounds uh as far as this game. You know, they they've been killing it on both sides of the ball, but Chelsea always seems to find a way to answer. >> Yeah, no doubt about it. Chelsea has had the answer thus far this evening. Wow, that's going to be 24. Lydia Castillo Rodriguez again with the two. It
seems like if she's inside the paint, that is her second uh two of the evening. Uh if she's inside the paint, she's got a pretty good look. She's got a pretty good hook to get it in there. >> Suspice Cruz with her first two-pointer of the game by way of the layup. You know, I'm surprised you didn't just go for the three there. >> I You know what? I was waiting to see it. I was I was looking for it. [cheering] >> Chelsea up by four. Largest lead of the night. This game has been back and forth. Very tightly contested game. >> Land of Verdie going to go to the line. And let's see what she can do. This is her first time to the line. >> Correct. She's got six points. These will be
her first free throws. Look at this replay. So Falcowski doesn't get it to go, but the Tide have been very good on the glass. Land of Verdie comes up with it and that's where the free throw attempts come. >> And what an effort from Land of Verdie there. Just to even be you you got three people on you and just being able to get it up and out is incredible. What a phenomenal effort. >> Let's see if she can get the split here and go one for two. >> [screaming] >> And if you notice the photographer in the background there, that was one Maria Helena Rangel. >> Yes. Yes. >> Senior here at Ever High School. >> Maria Rangel can perform a number of roles to the production staff. She does it all. >> I
think she's done everything but direct. >> That's right. >> Three days. >> And and we'll we'll we'll get her in that chair soon. >> Oh, we will. Again, great defense by the Tide here. Casey, unfortunately, she was looking for Land of Verdie. Couldn't find it. And there's your girl again. Suspended Cruz with another three. Who's surprised? Look at my face. I'm not. Wow. Four threes for Susp Cruz. And the Red Devils now up by seven as we are closing in on halftime. Martinez tries it from downtown. That's no good. Chelsea basketball. >> Josh, I'm going to be honest with you. It looks like Everett has slowed down on the defensive end here and I'm not entirely sure what happened. We were stealing the ball on the other side of the court the entire first half
of the second quarter, but it looks like they're starting to slow down. Although this is a good look. >> There it is. Juliana Rivera with her first made basket of the evening. >> Not for the lack of trying. And we have an injury timeout. And Jolia Santiago Lazada just walked off the court. >> Take a look at Rivera. Easy. You make those all day. >> Yeah, I know. And that that I believe that's the basket that can get Rivera going. Sometimes you just need one and sometimes it can just happen by way of a layup and then all of a sudden you see the ball go through the hoop and then your eyes widen and you know that you got it back. >> Oh yeah. >> Let's see what happens to Lazada here if we
can try to see. Ends up coming up injured on the play. I don't know if we're going to see it in this shot. That's the made three-pointer by Suspis Cruz. But we have a timeout right now due to injury as Jalia Santiago Lazada gingerely walked off the court and is being tended to by our Crimson Tide trainer Kimberly FTH. >> Kim does such a great job uh taking care of these athletes. You know, we play physical games here in Everett and she takes really good care of both sides of the court. Both both sides the of uh yeah, both sides of the court. I don't know where I was going with that. [laughter] >> Hey, she really did because I mean both sides of the court. She's here to make sure everyone's okay on both
teams. And that's what she did right there. Lazada appears to be okay. Maybe it's just a little bit of uh fatigue, exhaustion leading to uh perhaps a a a cramp, but Lazada has really put on a show. And now she's been joined by Cespettas Cruz who has four threes and a two-pointer. So that's 14 points. >> And if you you know Justin, the way the game started, Lazada had all the points and now that they're pretty much split. >> Yeah. Well, Suspice Cruz has been putting up points at left and right. >> Tell you what, great defense right there by Rouse getting back into the into the play on the dangerous shooting of Susp. >> And she's been getting back into a groove here. Uh Rouse, she's been doing a great job getting in front
of the ball. >> How about that block? Yeah, that was big time. That was big time. >> Faloski. >> Yeah, Falcowski. Big block. >> And that is going to end the first half with the Chelsea Red Devils building a fivepoint lead. 2722 Justin. There were some good things that happened on both sides of the four. Red Devils carried a little bit of momentum there going into the half doing it with some red-hot perimeter shooting and some nice drives to the basket for the Crimson Tide. Defense was there. They played tough, but they need to defend the three-point line a little bit better in the second half as Monica Suspas Cruz making four threes is the leading scorer right now with 14 points. Now I tell you Josh, going into this second half, I want to
see the Crimson Tide not let a single three by Suspice Cruz, you got to cover her. She's clearly the big hitter. She's clearly the one that they go to when they need some points. Whether or not, you know, she's on the outside line or bringing it in for the layup, she she's clearly their their target and she's doing a great job. Now, that's not to say that Santiago Lazada is doing a bad job or by no way possible because she's they got equal amount of points. But right now, that entire second quarter was ruled by Suspettis Cruz. Yeah, Suspic Cruz picked up the scoring after Lazada carried a big first quarter. The two of them have paired up like Batman and Robin or Batman and Batman if you will. There really wasn't a robin to
that duo and that's why the Red Devils find themselves up by five. And we have a very exciting second half in store. So don't go anywhere. We'll be back with more action. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] >> All right. [music] Uhoh. >> [music] >> Thank you. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] >> Yeah. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Hey, heat. Hey, heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] >> And we are back. Second half just moments away. And what a first half we had. Red Devils up by five, 2722. That was a back and forth first quarter, but Chelsea
did hold the lead for the majority of it. We haven't seen a lead larger than five points, which is what we have here, but this has been a back and forth uh showdown so far. >> Yeah, Josh, I tell you, every it's been Chelsea that pretty much that entire second half now. Everett keeping keeping it close. You know, they're they're making their they're they're making their their shots. They're making them tight. mainly on the rebound. One one I can't talk today. I don't know what's going on. Uh one name comes to mind and that is Damiseno. She's been doing great underneath the bucket. Uh but for Chelsea, two big weapons come to mind and that's the Spett Cruz and Santiago Lazada. Both of them putting up pretty much all of the points for the Red
Devils and they're doing a really great job. If I'm Everett, I am covering uh Suspenis Cruz when she's on the outside of the paint. She's a lethal weapon if you'll allow me. Uh she's hasn't missed a three yet. It's it it's been incredible to watch, but if I'm Everett, that's who I'm covering for the rest of the game. Well, Justin, I mean, you talk about majority of scoring. Cespettis Cruz and Santiago Lazada have a combined 23 points. They're outscoring Ever by one. Okay, so Suspendus Cruz has 14. Santiago Lazada has nine. There's your 23. And then four points belong to Lydia Castillo Rodriguez. So three players for the Red Devils have factored into the scoring and largely by Monica Suspas Cruz and Jalia Santiago Lazada. They have just been outstanding pouring it in. It was
Lazada mainly in the first quarter and then it was the Sespus Cruz show in that second quarter. Yeah, absolutely. And we're going to see what the Red Devils are going to do as they start the second half with possession. >> Good take, but better defense by Land Verie. Nice effort by Rivera. And it looks like that one was about to get away from the tide, but number three for them. That's going to be Rivera, I believe. Yes, Rivera. Juliana Rivera able to get it back and uh make something happen. >> Wide open. >> That's it right there. >> A there's a great look. Unfortunately, not able to connect. And I love Martinez there. She was calling out, you know, being the leader that we know she is. She's a cap, like you said it earlier,
she's a captain in every game that she plays. Uh she's calling out the plays and calling the defense. Uh Chelsea with the double dribble there. [cheering] >> Look like we got a foul. Going to be an inbound underneath the basket. Rouse going to throw it out for him. >> Yeah, I tell you what, I'd like to see a give and go. Get see if Rouse can flare out. >> Oh, Casey thinks about it. [screaming] >> Rivera for three. That's no good. Still hasn't fallen for Rivera, who is a sharpshooter from downtown. But as they say, shooters shoot. So, you got to have a quick memory. Forget about it. It's all about next possession. >> And Land of Verdie almost had that rebound. Uh, but Chelsea able to force it out of bounds. And Rouse going
to throw it in again for the Crimson Tide. And it looks like Rivera is getting back to her spot. She really wants to make this today. >> Nice play by Martinez. Beautiful pass to Lando Verie. >> Land Verie wide open. Well, I wouldn't say wide open. She was in a sea of devils right there. And this is what we saw the first half. Everett playing the hard defense on both sides of the court. But that is going to be another point for Suspettis Cruz. >> That was that was Santiago Lazada on the layup. And Lazada now adding to the totals. That's 11 points now in double figures. And Landervery has eight for the Crimson Tide. >> Landervery is the Tides leading scoreer with eight points. All two-pointers and all right around the basket. Rivera not
agreeing with that call. >> I do like the fullcourt press that's been employed by the Tide. They've done a good job with it. Lazada though does have some serious wheels and she could take it up the court in a hurry. Suspended Cruz from downtown. A rear miss and that's going to be out of bounds as it hit the top of the backboard. That is her first miss. four for five in this game, which that stat is incredible. >> Yeah. No, that's a that's a high percentage as one would say. Swing it around. You got Martinez and then Martinez drives to the basket. Nice take. Doesn't go, but Martinez comes up with the loose ball. Swings it around the top of the key, but Susp Cruz is going to take it the other way on the
steel. Oh, nice pass to Lazada. And that's going to be a foul on Landerie. Great pass by Suspetta's Cruz to the cutting Lazada to the basket. >> Yeah, what a great play. And you could tell it was designed to go that way. Take a look >> right over and Ralph was like, whoa, she's going for the pass, not going for the layup there. What a great play. >> Bat rims out by Lazada. So, another miss. Actually, that's that's Lazada's first miss at the line. Crowd coming alive. Oh, make it two. 0 for two. Wasada goes uh scoreless in that trip. Casey's hustling out there and she is rewarded with another two points. >> Tell you what, Casey Martinez, that's four points to her name tonight. But it's just been what she's done on the defensive
end of the floor. Her passing, the rebounds, everything that Martinez has done tonight has been really outstanding. >> It's going to be an injury time out there. [music] Uh, Santiago Ulazada is down and she got right back up. [applause] >> So nice to see Jalia Santiago Lozada get up after taking a pretty hard fall. >> That cord hurts when you fall off. >> Yeah, definitely not a lot of give. It's uh it's it's not called softwood. [cheering] >> Great steal by Martinez, but a greater defensive play by Lazada. >> Look at that pass, huh? >> Unbelievable. >> And that's new into the game. That's number 13, Rosita. Pineda Lon. And Pineta Lon looking for a basket. Oh, it almost went down. >> Good shot by Rosita. >> Excellent pass. >> Are you kidding me? Are
you kidding me? Revel. That was pretty good. >> Here she is again. And look at that. Pinet Loon heading to the floor, tying up the jump ball. It's going to be Chelsea basketball, but still a good play to come up, get that arrow back in your possession for the next one. and furthermore allowing your defense some time to reset, get back down the other end and defend the basket. Red Devils up by three. This game continuing to be wireto-wire. Josh Rosita came into this game and is immediately showing an impact. She's doing a great job defensively and even offensively. She almost had that basket in there right off the bench. I'm looking forward to see what else this young woman can do. >> Yeah. No, I'm pretty pumped. uh senior guard off the bench [cheering]
playing a birdie falling to the ground but really looked good there. >> Yeah, it I we got a foul call. It's going to be before the shot. So, it's not going to be a shooting foul. Nice job by Landervery playing tight and of course loose going to throw it in for the T. >> Here's Casey. >> Oh, nice up fake. Gets the open look from the elbow and Casey Martinez is on fire. What a play. Up fake from three. Got her defender in the air. Put the ball on the deck for two steps. Elbow jumper wide open. Good. [cheering] And how about that defense? And Pineta Lon again showing what she can do. I told you she ma immediately made an impact on this tide game and is immediately showing why she got put into
the game. What a player. And what sportsmanship we see [screaming] there. I like that right there. Really good sportsmanship. Playing hard, playing tough, helping each other up. >> [cheering] >> Good look. Tell you, great, [cheering] great hustle by Damaseno trying to keep that in, but Lozada out front. That pass is going to end up off the foot of Landie. Chelsea basketball. We got a one-point game right now. 3:16 left in the third quarter. >> Josh, I I'm going to be honest with you. I didn't know what to expect going into this game cuz like we said at the top it was a very close match with Malden and Chelsea, you know that they're doing a great job and keeping it close and they it it's just been a real pleasure to watch. Now the Red
Devils have been impressive tonight. This is definitely the best I've seen from the Red Devil side in my years of doing these games. They have some talent here. Nice nice look at that replay. That shot by Martinez. Lazada misses that. >> I tell you, when Sant Diego Loazada gets the ball and or gets a rebound, you better get to the other side of the court quick. That girl has some wheels on her. >> Yeah. No, she's really fast. She dribbles very well. So you blend speed with the ball handler and all of a sudden you have you have yourself a tough a tough responsibility defensively. [cheering] We're going to get a 3second violation. That's uh too many seconds inside the painted area. That's going to be Crimson Tide basketball. >> Nice pass from the bench
from assistant coach Tatiana Moran. There's a bullet. >> Oh, that's going to be Crimson Tide Ball. >> No, looks like both girls don't agree with the uh officials decision there. That is going to be Red Devil. >> Yeah, it's Red Devil ball. I saw it wrong. I I I thought it and and Moran uh Rouse rather was was on it. And again the fullcourt press paying off. [cheering] And a really good job by Fatuma Iman. [applause and cheering] >> Take a look at this. >> Damaso with the steel. Quick pass to Rivera but unable to finish. And then Fatuma Iman holds on to the jump ball. So possession arrow favoring Chelsea. We have Yeah, it's it's Chelsea basketball. >> Yeah. >> Seems to be a little miscommunication between the two refs here. >> Yeah, a
little bit of a discussion. The arrow was pointed to Chelsea, so the arrow was accurate and that's that's all you need to know is a jump ball that's going to be given right back to the Crimson Tide. Good defense forcing that turnover. Let's see if the Tie can get the lead. Now, again, this has been a very very close game, but it Chelsea seems like they've had the lead for, you know, the majority of this, even if it's all be at one point. Let's see if the Tie can get the lead back. >> [cheering] >> Oh, nice pass by Suspettis Cruz to Lazada, but good defense right there. Steel. >> And what a great steal by Suspice Cruz there. She She read what the Everett offense was doing. And she's doing a great job on
both sides of the ball. >> Really a key player for the Red Devils. >> Impressive. [screaming] Here's Rivera for three. Bang. [screaming] Nothing but net. You knew it was going to fall at some point. Rivera is a terrific outside shooter. She has a beautiful high arcing shot. If you're a geometry guy, that makes for a bigger rim. The higher the ball, you got more circumference to fall down and the cylinder gets bigger. Wow. How about the putback though? >> Yeah. Who else but Suspice Drews to get them back in and tie the game yet again? >> And that's only the fourth point for Chelsea this quarter. They had 27 at the half. A basket made by Wazada and a basket right there by Suspenders Cruz. Cruz now with 16 points. Lazada with 11. And right
now the Tide balancing that score sheet. Landie with eight. Martinez has six. Damaseno with six. And now it's Rivera with nine. So Rivera is actually the lead scorer. >> And Falcowski is back in for the Ever Cle. >> Okay, the sophomore who's played well gets blocked right there by Iman. Oh, good shot by Rouse. Unable to get it to fall and a nice job by Catland coming up with that rebound. Ball gets knocked out of bounds. Going to stay with the Crimson Tide. We're tied up. Minute 24 remaining in the third quarter. And it looks like coach Dunn is going to call a timeout. >> Here's Rivera's three. Take a look at that. Nothing. >> Yeah, that that's good in horse. If you called net and horse, you're going to have to match that shot.
That grazed no iron. >> You could see it, right? She has a nice high arcing shot. You can tell the when the shooters have that high arcing shot, you know they know what they're doing. And that was the first one she got to fall tonight. In the games that we covered last year as a freshman, Rivera was deadly from outside. So really nice to see her get that shot to go. And again, maybe that's what totally opens it up for her now. >> She's still leading the way with nine points for the Crimson Tide. >> And again, Josh, we say this all the time. All you really need is that one shot to get you going, get you back into your groove. Now, I'm not saying that Rivera has been bad. Again, she has how
many points here? >> I can't count. >> That's nine points. [laughter] Uh she has nine points and she's doing a really great job uh getting the ball. Unfortunately, just hasn't made the connection, but now maybe that's the one to get her back into her groove. [laughter] >> Yeah, that was big. I mean, and honestly, a lot of the shots have been like close misses. Sometimes the ball just doesn't fall for you. But again, the shooters shoot. You got to have a real You got to You got to be forgetful out there. You You can't remember what happened. It's all about going to the next play and that could be what gets Rivera off. But still with with a night where the shot hasn't fallen, she still has nine points. She could easily get up into
the 20s if she has a hot finish this quarter and takes it into the fourth. It's going to be a it's going to be out of bounds Chelsea basketball. Bit of an overthrow by Rivera there and did her best to keep it on this side. try to avoid the backcourt violation. Really great job. Unfortunately, didn't go your way. [cheering] [screaming] >> Oh, nice pass to Rouse out front. Ralph's going to take a trip to the free throw line there. >> Great job. I I you know I've really enjoyed Ariana Rouse tonight. I think she's done a really nice job. She's made a three-pointer. She's come up with a number of steals. >> She just got a friendly shooters bounce coming at the right time. Check it out. Look at the look. Look at the determination
goes up. >> Nice job. >> She knew exactly what she was doing there and got exactly what the Tide need right now. >> [cheering] >> And she did it twice. >> Yeah. Two for two. Rivera got a hand on that one. >> I like Everett resolved under the basket. They're doing a really good job of getting the rebounds uh and just making sure that no effort goes to waste. Ah, just bounced off the hand and then the knee of Rivera there. Uh, not Rivera, Roose there. >> Yeah, that was that was a really nice pass actually to uh cutting Rouse to the basket. >> And thank goodness uh she caught that. Otherwise, that was coming right for us, Josh. >> I mean, I'm ready for it. I know you are. You're always ready. >> Yeah,
we're ready, you know. Keep kidding me. We're both three-point guys. Just let us let us rip. Let us rip. [laughter] Come on. Uh-oh. Suspended can rip. >> Finally a miss. [screaming] That's only her second miss tonight. >> She's four for six right now. >> Yeah. >> Although she might get another chance here. >> That's knocked out of bounds. Last touch by Ever, but good defense right there. >> They're they're doing a really good job of the pressing defense. Uh the Crimson Tide that is. They're doing a really great job pressing their defense and they're not really getting too many fouls out of it, too. So, it's a clean defense and we said it at the top of the game. We want to see that. Here's Land of Verie. Oh, wow. Lazada. [cheering] What an effort
by Lander Verie to keep that ball in bounce. And she's rewarded at the buzzer. Lander Verie. Cat Lander Verie did a great job keeping that in bounds. And wow, >> I tell you what, Lander Verie, that was her 10th point of the night. Couldn't have come at a better time at the buzzer. That's the second buzzer beater for the Tide this game. We saw Falcowski had one earlier. Check it out. Blocked by Lazada. >> Kept in bounds by Landervery. Over to Rouse to Rivera. Rivera couldn't get it. Damaseno gets the rebound as she always does. Then back to Lander Verdie at the buzzer. Are you kidding me? >> That's big time. That's big time. And again, you talk about the balanced scoring that's been done by the Crimson Tide here tonight. Landie has 10. Doiseno
has six. Rivera has nine. Rouse has five. Casey Martinez has six. That's a lot different than when you look at the Chelsea roster. Nonetheless, points are going on the board. Chelsea, obviously, the majority of that scoring load has been handled by Monica Suspas Cruz and Julia Santiago Lazada. Susp Cruz has 16 while Lazada has 11. But wow, I mean, you're looking at the way this has played out and you got yourself a really exciting finish here in this fourth quarter and it's just going to be a matter I I like the team that's got a little bit more balance to their scoring sheet and I think that that can prove itself and it's really going to be who steps up defensively. >> Yeah, absolutely. And right now Everett has been ripping on defense. You know,
they have only they only allowed four points on the board in that third quarter, which is incredible. And they're they're playing hard. They're playing a really pressing defense [music] and it's really great to see. Now, I'm glad you pointed that out. Ever outscored them 13-4 in that quarter. [cheering] >> Great block there by Damaseno. We're going to have a timeout called. >> That's a tactical timeout by Chelsea there. Uh she was on the ground surrounded >> by the wave of Crimson Tide. >> I know. I know. I know. Yeah, I could do it, too. >> I like that. >> No, she was surrounded by a wave of Crimson Tide and just a great tactical timeout. That's how you get it done. >> Chelsea down to one timeout left. >> Yeah, I that scoreboard uh doesn't
lie. So Ever's got three left. So Chelsea has been using them, but they'll want to be wise with this next one they take because once you're out and I the the rules are pretty simple. If you're out of timeouts and you go to call another one, immediate technical foul. So it's something that you have to be aware of. >> Yeah. >> I mean, again, scoreboards are pretty friendly. They always dot that eye for you. So, you just have to look up and keep attention on it. But it's not like, well, just, you know, take a shot at anyway. No, you you cannot make that mistake. That'll uh that'll put a team at the line for two and then they'll get the ball afterwards. >> That was a pretty good look by Suspend Cruz there. >>
[cheering] >> I tell you what, that was actually a great pass. Some laughter being held on the court. We love to see that. That hit the head of Thea Young, who was actually doing a good job defensively. >> And I tell you, you heard it in the crowd. Way to use your head. >> No, it's absolutely. >> It's pretty funny. O >> Yeah. Poor >> Thea. There it is. Yeah, Thea took it well though. Took like a champ. >> She took She was She was giggling about it. >> Yeah, she was. >> What a champ. Rouse is going to try it from three. >> And Rouse has eight points. And that's her second three of the night. >> River's been doing a great job covering the the passer here. >> Yeah. No, Rivera really is,
like I said, Rivera is a terrific player. You just you talk about it. Got great length, very very athletic. And then that that's paired up with a motor like just constant hustle. Watch Rouse top of the key. Give me that room. I'm going to take it. >> Nice shot. Nice pass right there, too. Rouse has also passed very well. Rouse and Martinez have passed the ball extremely well. And how about Falcowsk's hustle all over the place. Nice job. There were four There were four Chelsea players right next to her and Falcowski still went for it. >> Yeah. No, Falcowski was all over it. Abigail comes up with the loose ball. Uh and it's Crimson Tide basketball. That's that's when you just want it. >> And the advantage of having Rivera is again we said she's
she's tall so you're able to make those higher passes. Here's Rouse again. Who else but Diseno? and then land a verdie on the recovery. >> Bodies hitting the floor and I tell you, everyone's getting up right away. No one's laying down. Wow. Got right there. Susp again. Who else? Oh no, a correction. Number two, Angie Antonune, who we haven't seen much of in this game. In fact, I think we saw Antunez. Wow. Yeah. Jeez, that was getting a little aggressive out there. that that that was legit. And Antunes, nothing but net on the free throw. Burries it. And right now, it's worth noting that Antunes is in the game. A freshman replacing another freshman. Lazada's on the bench right now. Maybe trying to just get get some energy under her for the fourth quarter push.
[cheering] Let's see what Rivera's got for us. Oh, nice take by Rivera. really good job of attacking the basket, putting the pressure on the defense. Good job, Rivera. >> She's been doing a really great job, especially being a Take a look at it. I I'm not even going to describe it. Oh. Oh, yeah. Absorbs the body and then >> still able to get it up. >> I know. Rivera looking for point number 10. [screaming] >> Doesn't get it go. But who else but doeno ruler of the rebound. >> Oh my god. No doubt. >> And look who's back in wasting no time on the bench. It's Lazada. And Lazada will go to the line. >> Lazada. A great great talent. Take a look. >> Really, that's a good move again. Going to the euroep comes
up with the right, sends it over to the left. This is a complete basketball player you're looking at. [cheering] So, after starting off three for three at the foul line, Lazada has missed her last four. >> [cheering] [screaming] >> make that five. >> Oh, nice look by Rivera to Rouse, but better defense right there by Iman. >> Yeah, and Aman doing a great job staying in bounds there. She again, we see keep saying they're they're very good at walking the tight rope. Yes, you make the block and you you're able to keep it in bounds for your own possession. >> Great job. >> That's that's how you get it done. >> River's going to take it in herself. No, good. Very comes down with it. Jump ball goes to Chelsea. >> Tell you what though,
Lander Verdie is is really tough player. Plays hard, very strong. >> Oh yeah. >> Battling with Lydia Castillia Rodriguez Cruz. Who else to get Chelsea on the board for the first time this quarter? That was a good look by Rivera. Unfortunately, just closes it. >> Coach Dunn not happy about the call that it's going back over to the Red Devils there. Yeah, I mean um I I I could see it, you know. I'm I'm with Coach Dunn. >> Nice steal. >> What a great steal. Here's Land of Verie. [screaming] [cheering] >> Looked like Landie and Damaseno both fighting for the rebound there. Unfortunately, they both got in each other's way, Josh. Not great to see. >> Rivera gonna take it up herself. >> And she's going to take another trip to the line. Josh >>
Rivera always bringing that that strong take. >> Take a look. >> Oh yeah. Foul right on top of the hand. Rivera hitting the deck hard. >> [cheering] >> nailed the first one. Let's see what she does about the second. >> That's Rivera really stringing together a strong second half. 10 points. >> You know what's better than 10? >> I'll wait. >> 11. And you know why? It's one more. >> So you can count. >> Uh-oh. Have you been lying to me this [laughter] whole time? >> Come on, man. Get out of here, man. >> You know who else I saw back in attendance? He's behind that shot right there. Fresh out of driving school, pushing the cart. That's our very own Miguel Vento. Oh, or as we affectionately call him Migs. >> Joe Canley, if
you're on the mic, I'm sure you'd say, no one calls him that. >> Well, it's a good thing he's not on the mic, cuz we're going to call him Migs. >> Migs, the president of the marketing club. >> Yes. Outstanding young man. >> So, we have a timeout on the court and Riley Dunn is taking an explanation from the official right now. and and we are getting a detailed explanation. >> Riley Dunn appears to have absorbed and accepted that answer >> to the best that she could. >> She puts in a lot of effort. You know, these she's a role model for these girls and wants to make sure that she's fighting for them while whether it be on or off the court. And >> no, she's awesome. We we we love Riley Dunn. >>
Riley Dunn is is one of the absolute best. Cares about the kids like just the ultimate support and love she has for these these kids and the way they work and stick together. It's truly a family and that is something that Riley Dunn brings to the table and it's shared. It's felt throughout her staff. And again, we just see this we we see this throughout a lot of our our our groups, our teams, some of the clubs, and a lot of the things we have going on in the school. That's what makes Ever High School and the Ever Public Schools a very special place. And on top of that, we have really good broadcasts. I've heard >> that's what the people That's what the people say. >> I heard a little rumor. [laughter] >> Yeah,
you know, I'll take it. Let's see what Russ Rivera got cooking up for us right now. >> Yeah, I like that combo. I really do. >> Oh, take it, Rouse. Take it. Oh, I Okay, I like that. Oh, Lazada out front. >> Lazada bringing it all the way. And she doesn't miss those. >> No. Again, you can't. If she gets the rebound, you better hustle your way back because she's got the wheels. She's got the jukes. So 13 points for Lazada matching the number on her jersey. That pass out front doesn't get there. Right in the living room of our camera man, Tony Lelaw. Good thing he uh he's got the dolly with him as he was able to wheel himself out of the way. >> Oh yeah, he'll uh >> we don't need another
broken manro. And he's he's quick on his feet that Tony laid lock is >> Casey Martinez coming back into the game relieving >> Falcowski Martinez. And again, we see it all the time from Everett. You come off the bench, you're immediately going to start making an impact. She definitely needed to take a break. uh she was in the game the entire time and now uh she she's well rested off the bench and she's going to make a huge impact here. Yeah. No, I I'm definitely happy to see >> see the addition and the the boost. >> Great defense there by Chelsea. Uh-oh. Red Devils cut it to one. >> Yeah, >> Lazada starting to cook. >> Lozada starting to cook. And you know who else got it? Got a piece of that action. Suspice Cruz
with the assist. And here she goes again. Again. She does not miss those. Wow. Wow. Just Lazada's got 17 in just a flurry. Rouse for three. >> [screaming] >> No good. Rouse gets a rebound. Nice drop off to doeno. >> Doeno taking a trip to the line for the first time today, I believe. >> And Josh, we might be in for another tight one. >> I tell you what, we are Yeah, let's let's see that nice drop off pass from Rouse. >> And great followup by Rouse by getting her own rebound as well. Not even [screaming] John Mo. Wow. Good for one. Yep. [applause and cheering] And Josh, it worked before, so I'm going to try it again. You know what's better than one? >> A rebound. [laughter] >> It doesn't work every time. Doesn't
work every time. >> You're uh You only have so much in that sorcery bag of yours. >> I left my uh I left my magic wand at home. [laughter] >> That was good. >> I like that. But that does tie it up. >> Yeah, know we're tied up at 40 in store for a very exciting finish as we enter the 2 and 1/2 minute mark. [screaming] >> Great defense by the Tide there. You know, Rivera really making uh [cheering] making herself known out there and the fans getting a little rowdy. [cheering] >> Casey Martinez forcing the backcourt violation. >> There we go. Martinez with another great defensive play. She's done it all night. Martinez showing up in a big way. [screaming] >> How about the crowd coming alive here down at the big house on
the big hill. Martinez the three. Oh, halfway down. Almost got it. [cheering] And a great job by Damaseno there. Casey Martinez is going to take a trip to the line. But doeno, great job defensively able to get the ball over to Martinez who is going to take a trip to the line here. Josh, what a game. >> Oh, this is great. This is great. This is This is what you'll want to see. Martinez after the steal puts the ball on the deck goes under Fatuma Iman and is going to earn a trip to the line. Here we go. [screaming] >> There we go. And that's going to bring Everett to a lead. [cheering] Martinez has seven. [screaming] >> I like the form. She gets down really low there. [cheering] Terrific job. Two huge free throws.
Eight points from Martinez. [cheering] [screaming] >> Wow. I mean, >> come on. No. I I thought we were going to get a travel call there personally. [cheering] >> Nonetheless, Crimson Tide basketball timeout taken by Coach Dunn. Tied up by two with exactly two minutes left. I tell you what. So, right now, if you're the Crimson Tide, you just want to continue. You want to have good possessions moving that basketball. They have been their best when they have done less dribbling and just quick passes around the perimeter. Get in the hands of your playmakers and attack the basket. right now. If you get that wide open look, sure, maybe you take it with the right shooter, but otherwise, I want to see them go to the basket. They've been getting foul calls and going to the
line and they've been making their free throws. I think that's the key and that's probably what's being said inside that huddle right now. >> Yeah. Now, if you're Chelsea, I think you're just putting your trust in Suspic Cruz and Santiago Lazada. They are your two highscorers in the game and they're doing a great job. Unfortunately, you got nowhere else to go. I mean, you you got maybe one or two people. You got Castillo Rodriguez, uh, who has a few points on the board, but you got to keep those two in the game, particularly Santi, Santiago Lazada, who's been doing a great job getting the rebound and then sprinting down the court and making easy layups. But Everett, if you're Everett right now, you got to keep that defensive pressure like you said, Josh. So, let's
see what they got in store for us. >> Here we go. >> Oh, nice. >> Keeps it in bounds. Unfortunately, that's not who you want it to go to. That was Suspettis Cruz with the recovery, >> but good for Rivera for keeping it in bounds there. >> I know. I know it. >> Okay, here we go. Red Devils keep it alive. >> Wow, what a shot by Fatuma Iman. [cheering] And Iman's been in and out of the game all game and she's been doing a great job when she is. She's been making a big impact. Here's Casey Martinez. [cheering] And White's going to keep the ball there. Tried to reach it. I couldn't quite reach it. If I was wireless, I would have made a play on that. But >> listen, Josh, you do have
a large wingspan. At least >> I I do. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Here we go. >> That was that was Iman's first basket of the evening. >> Oh, some talk between the uh players and the ref here. Casey Martinez wide open. She's going up. Bruce with the recovery. [cheering] traveling violation. It's going to be Crimson Tide basketball. Wow, >> Josh, this is getting too close for co. >> I'm I you I can always tell when you're getting into it because you know why you never stop talking unless you're in for one. [laughter] Rivera wide open. Rivera going for two here. Here we go. Here we go. >> Been pretty consistent >> with her free throws. >> Yeah. No. Uh Rivera has only missed one free throw here tonight. She's made the last couple.
She's got 10 points. >> Nothing but net for one. That's going to give Everett the one-point lead. But Josh, we're going to give it give it another go. You know what's better than one? >> There it is. There it is. >> And it is. [screaming] >> Who else? >> By Landie. And we got a timeout by that was a great use of the timeout there, Josh. Coach Dunn saw that Damaseno did get the rebound and great use of the timeout. Wow, what a finish right now. What a finish right now. 4142. There she is. Doniseno tries to get it over to Land of Verie in traffic to be honest with you. Uh and but they did get it and they did get the timeout. Great timeout. Great use of the timeout by coach Dunn. >>
No doubt. That is the last timeout for the Titan. >> That's right. Okay. So, again, like I said, you have to be smart here. You cannot you cannot a lot of times sometimes it's it's like muscle memory. Like you might get in like a tight spot in the court, a little bit of a trap, and you just want to like knee-jerk the timeout. And like you have to make sure that your players inside that huddle while you're talking about strategy, you have to tell everyone, hey, we don't have timeouts left. You cannot take one in a game that's decided by one point right now. You send it, you call a timeout with no none left and that can happen. You're going to give the team a technical free throw. They're going to get two technicals
and the basketball. That's how you can lose the game. So that's something that has to be a point of emphasis. >> Absolutely. >> Rivera going to inbound the ball here. Bruce for three. Damono on the rebound. >> Wow. Okay, here we go. Oh, that's out. That's ball. Wow. Suspended Cruz. You know, great job getting that rebound, but I loved Casey Martinez's reaction to her getting that rebound. Immediately started sprinting down to the other side of the court. Yeah. No, that was uh exactly not wasting any time, knowing where to go. It's a big possession right now. >> Be smart with the basketball. >> And coach Dunn telling everyone you do not have to shoot. Move the ball. >> That's also true. The shot clock is turned off. But Damaseno will go to the line shooting
two. One for two in her last trip. [cheering] Check this out. Damaseno, great job getting under there. >> It was a nice pass and it was a good job by Damaseno going up in traffic. She's been strong underneath the basket all night. [cheering] >> That's okay. That's okay. Her teammates there for her, ready to get that rebound because she's been getting so many rebounds. >> I mean, the entire game. Or you could just sink one. >> Nice call. Justinian doeno knocks it down. Tied up by two. >> And the tie that g that gives you a slight buffer here. >> Well, I tell you what, you better defend this cruise. >> Oh, [screaming] land of verdy. [cheering] >> And that's a better buffer, Josh. I would say. [cheering] >> And Chelsea's going to take a
timeout. The Tigers are up by four with 9 seconds left. Huge, huge. Cat landie with the steal. Goes down. Gets her own rebound. Check it out right here. Look at this replay. >> Catland coming around using Casey Martinez as a red herring. Goes up for the layup. Misses, but Martinez says, "You know what? Here you go. Have another shot at it." >> And I love it. She went up, threw it in with her left hand. Great job. And that was just >> fundamentally sound basketball by Catland making it all happen right there. That's how you That's how you do it. >> And a wise decision to take that time out by the Chelsea coach. >> Yeah, I know. You need to do that. You're You're really up against it right now. Tied up by four
nine. Actually, we got 10.5 seconds left on our our score clock. And that was uh Wow. My man, we've uh we've seen some good action. >> We've seen some one maybe two score games in the past few days and boy howdy, I as as fun as this is, I I'm looking forward to a little bit of a break. >> No, no doubt about it. Listen, [laughter] we've uh we we we've earned it. No doubt. uh four four four four nights of production and um you know we had we had a school committee meeting on Monday and then uh three three nights of basketball production including a double header yesterday and witnessing some awesome stuff but we are we do have vocal cords tell you what there it is >> and great defense as as always
by the Crimson Tide here. >> [cheering] >> The crowd getting into it a little bit. Casey Martinez just going to throw it in. And that is the game with a decisive steal from Landervery who I got to tell you that might have been my play of the game there. >> Yeah, no doubt about it. Landie picked the pocket of Suspendis Cruz and went down the other end of the court. That's how you get it done. And that's why Land Verie had the game that she did. She did it in all facets, but it showed up defensively. And when you're protecting a lead like that late in the waning moments, it's defense that's going to make it happen. >> Here's another look at it. Great job using Casey as the red herring. You're gonna take it
all the way down. And I've already explained it, so why don't you just watch it here? >> Yeah. And just watch the finish. Okay. So, it doesn't get it to go. She wrestles it away and then gets the put back. Good. And that is what did it. And the Crimson Tide have win number one on the season. They are one and one. And check that out. Coach Dunn and the staff joining at center court. And that's how you get it done. But uh what action we had here. >> What a game. >> Yeah, that was awesome. >> What a game. Great job by our replay tech Bird Marshon. Of course, >> uh with the multi-angle replay there. But I tell you, my unsung hero has to be Damoseno. She did a great job keeping it
in in Everett's possession. great rebounder, great defensive player as well, but really secured all of the rebounds for the Tide today. >> Yeah. No, exceptional effort all around and that's how you get a big win like that and uh we were just once again very happy to bring forth that coverage. That's what it's all about and that's what makes uh that's what makes this game great. A lot of fun. Happy to be here. We want to shout out our crew tonight. They did an outstanding job back behind the scenes. We had Jeff Natio, we had Vesselin Theorough, Joe Camley, and then on camera, we had Pedro Haniki Dilva, we have Evan Hubard, we got Maria Rangel, we got Tony Leva. We have the whole crew in the house tonight. They did a great job. We're
always happy to be working with those. >> And Josh, it's been an absolute pleasure doing these games with you. Unfortunately, I'll be away for the next one, but I'll be watching. >> I know you are. Uh, so maybe someone's heading down to um I don't know what you're going to a pretty large state, I hear. >> Yeah, I'm I'm going to go get a little warm in Texas. Go see some in-laws. You know, it's going to be fun. >> I like that for you. We'll vicariously live that through you while bringing forth some great coverage. You'll be missed, but not with many shout outs of your name on the broadcast. But we're looking forward to our next one. On behalf of the team, I'm Josh Delgazo. He's Justin Han. Thanks for joining everybody. Awesome. [music]
