I know it's a lot of information. If you guys have any questions about any apps that the kids are using nowadays or um how to help them um stay safer online, let me know. So she wants to know like how you can put her controls and like how you can um help with that. So every app is a little bit different. We always suggest carriers like for example now Instagram um there's a lawsuit going on in California where a lot of parents kids were victims of crimes on Instagram um have come forward and these social media platforms because they were safe. So now apps like Instagram, they have more control on what kids see on their feed. But every application is going to be different. If kids are unusual, there are restrictions or whatever involve.
You can let them you can let a kid account and give them some restrictions like only let them know only let them watch this um content here. only let them watch these type of videos. There are kids on each page. Um again, kids are not supposed to have Facebook, Instagram until they're 13. But if there is a way, there is a way. So find a way to do that. So, what you want to do is again talk to them, see what they have, and if they have one of these apps, if you trust them, you can let them know they're able to use it, but you still want to do some research. And again, every app is different, and every kid is different. I used to be um years ago, I used to be a
driving instructor and whenever parents, kids, they came to me to talk about, is my kid ready to drive? every drive at 60. So it's the same with social media. Every family will be different. And what I always suggest to parents start by you restrictions and the more you see that smart choices, the more access to other things. >> Any other questions? You cannot tell my different. I don't have a restriction on the app. My my kids don't have any social media, but I have I have an app where I control what is downloaded and who they communicate anything. So I know the time that they spend internet and every app that they ask to be downloaded. Uh I can feel the app before authorize them to have their device. So they don't have social media
but they um they play games a lot. So I have to control what kind of game we play and then they are appropriate for their age. >> Very good. That's good. And that's something that you can also do like talk to other parents, see how they're um talking to their kids, seeing what apps that they they use, you know, always I always encourage community because you may not be aware of the danger but maybe another pattern of where you went through. So that's actually a very good thing to do. Most kids are able to play games online, but again, are they able to chat, you know, they're playing or is it just a game that they have on that a specific device? Will they be more comfortable? We always um our concern is mostly the
apps that are connected to the internet and they're able to talk in chat because that's what that's a great thing to do. You want to make sure people know what they're downloading, how much time they're spending there, and all these face. You have a question. April second. I was standing. She's mentioning that she has a case in her family of a kid that has is not allowed to use Tik Tok but is is using Tik Tok because they have an app that is hiding. And that's what we talked about earlier about that vault app or the hidden or secret app. It's an app that may look like something but it's something else. So that's a lot of things. They're always going to find a way to break the rules. You have these type of apps
that they're not allowed to. So, always watch for that. It may be hard if an app looks like a calculator and then it's not. But one thing that I suggest people to do is just go on every app that they have and you see that an app is asking for password, that's something to be concerned because why the password. So, that's usually my best advice. Um, also talk to them about the restrictions and like why it's important. You don't want to let the kid make decisions because they're scared of you, but you want to let them know that they can make decisions that are well important and that they could make the place that the best decision you get more access, more trust if they follow the rules. But thank you for sharing that. >>
Anybody else? Any other questions? Okay. Smile. Fore. My child don't have any kind of social media but um he uses WhatsApp to communicate and that's my WhatsApp that account that he uses to communicate with family and so and uh during the weekend he watches during the week he watches a lot of YouTube videos and I let him play games on the weekends but the um my biggest concern is that game called Roblox which is giving me a time uh to get him to do the chores and take a shower, eat or do homework cuz all he wants to do is play Roblox. I even thought about and mentioned that who invented that game um that is making difficult for every parent to have their child what they're supposed to do. So what's the danger in
that game? >> Thank you. So Roblox has that capability where you can communicate with other players and again they may be um play with your schoolmates, your family members or friends. That's okay because you know it's a social way. When we were little we went outside and played with our friends but that was that today going back home right? So, you want to make sure that he's that you talk to him and respect the game versus talking to people that they don't know outside of the game. If you're going to talk about something, play your game, talk about the game. But if somebody starts talking to you, asking you personal questions, they're going to have personal information where you go to school, it's like that, that's feel comfortable talking to you and letting you know
that this is happening to them because at the end of the day, it's probably going to be it's going to be very very hard for you to find out if they don't trust you. So you're like, "Hey, this is okay. They set times. Obviously, you want to spend a whole day, but that's a difficult some of these apps and some of these games, they are very very addicted and that's what the company wants. The companies want kids who stay cleaning to stay watching these videos and so that's when the parents have to come in and set the limitations obviously to set a set time because if not they're going to push around one more hour 30 more minutes you prefer talk to them explain the the situation that this is a dangerous Facebook. >> I
have something to share. parents that have Instagram open and post pictures of the kids like uh swimming suits and being because if that video um goes around it can be used to exchange pornography >> because those videos of your child are on the comments. They start exchanging messages to exchange pornography with other people by changing the kids face. >> Yes, that's another case. And that's why we always tell parents, be careful if your account is public because your case could be harmed just because you're sharing photos of death. To be honest, like I all my social medias are private. if I don't know you, you realize you don't need to have access to my information. And that's a thing that's happening a lot with AI or artificial intelligence is a lot of creditors are going
to be taking those photos that we post of our kids and they're going to be manipulating them into being or doing things and they're probably studying them online. So even our accounts we need to be vigilant. I always say that we set an example. We by doing the right things with our social media we can give our example of what to expect how like be like mom like your account is public why has to be private. So we set for example do the right thing if we're going to be sharing photos obviously on to our friends and families because it is a big growing thing that we see it's AI and unfortunately since it's so new there's not many laws that are being regulated but still like even the face of a kid and so
AI generated body naked is still a can still have the proportional consequences of having child. So it's always good to be careful in our own accounts to also be any other questions. Thank you so much. I really appreciate those questions. They were really good and I have some resources here. Obviously us um the student assistant if your kid has encounter any type of things that are around you can always call us right here just 10 minutes away. Um I brought some tours um some guidance and information. Um I I don't have the in Spanish and Portuguese. Uh but feel free to give us a call or swap to the authorities. Okay. Thank you so much.
