Good evening, parents, guardians, families, friends, our district committee, faculty, and most importantly, the class of 2025. My name is Chad Jackson, and I'm the proud principal of Greater Lawrence Technical School. I'm honored to be here tonight to deliver some welcoming remarks as we gather to celebrate each and every one of our incredible graduates. It is my pleasure to introduce our district committee and our honored guests for this evening. Our district committee, Miss Anmarie Ferris Vandover, Miss Zoa Dissla
of Lawrence, Mr. Julio Mahia, the vice chairman from Lawrence, Mr. Edison Mercedes from Lawrence, Mr. Thomas Haydam, our chairman from Mthuan, Mr. Bradley Jones from Mthuan, and Mr. William Tarbox from North Andover. We are also fortunate to have honored guests, State Representative Frank Moran, who is also our keynote guest speaker, State Senator Pavl Pyano, State Representative Estella Reyes, State Representative Ryan Hamilton, State Representative Francisco Palino, Honorable Mayor Brian Deñena of Lawrence, Mr. Francisco Ceruo, counselor at large from Mthuan, and Miss Nelly Sodto, city counselor from Mthuan. A round of applause for our [Applause] guests. To the class of 2025, we are so proud of you. I hope that over the past few weeks, in between finals and your prom, you've had a chance to reflect on your time here. I hope you thought about your
favorite teachers, the classmates who made you laugh, maybe a club or a sport that gave you a special memory. Maybe you're remembering a field trip that didn't go exactly as planned but gave you a great story. These are the moments that you'll carry with you long after tonight. I know that graduating from high school brings a mix of emotions. There is excitement, pride, and maybe even some nerves about what comes next. Whether your path leads to college, a career, the military, or another direction, I want to take a few minutes to talk about how life can bring you full circle. A little more than 25 years ago, I was a nervous and excited 23-year-old walking into the old Greater Lawrence Tech building before renovations to begin my first day as a teacher. My classroom was
part of a lecture hall that doesn't really exist anymore. It was across from the food tech shop. which meant I had easy access to sugar and spice for coffee and a quick snack. I remember wondering if this was the right move, if teaching would be a better fit than my first job, where I sat in a cubicle knowing that I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life. As it turns out, it was. During that time, I not only began my career in education, but I also began building my life outside of school. I became engaged and married to my wonderful wife, Colleen, and we had the first two of our three children. Over the years, I continued to work hard, return to school, and try to be the best teacher I
could be. I had the chance to keep learning, to coach a few sports, and most importantly, to be mentored by great people who were willing to give me honest feedback and support me when I made mistakes. What I remember most were the many laughs in the fun times along the way. I fell in love with this work. When I left GLTS in 2007, it was with some sadness, but also with a great deal of pride in the hope that one day I might come back. Now, more than two decades removed from my first day teaching, I am back as your principal, still happily married to my wonderful wife, Colleen, and now with a total of three children who are 20, 18, and 14. Life has certainly come full circle for me. On your first day
of senior year, I encouraged you to focus on the things you can control. Be on time, show up, and be a positive influence. I reminded you that no matter how the past had gone, that day could be the new beginning. That advice still holds true today. And tonight, you find yourself at another new beginning, just like I did this year when I returned to GLTS in my new role. You now have the chance to step into the next chapter of your life with a clean slate. Life will hand you surprises, both good and challenging. But your mindset and your choices will help you shape your journey. I hope that you have found that your experience here at GLTS have prepared you to make the most of your future opportunities. So, as you leave here tonight
as graduates, carry those memories and lessons with you. Be proud of your work, the obstacles you've overcome, and the people you've become. Congratulations, class of 2025. I wish you all the best of luck and cannot wait to see what your next full circle moment will be. Thank you. It's now my honor and privilege to introduce to you our superintendent director, Mr. John Lavoy, also a proud graduate of Greater Lawrence Technical School. [Applause] Thank you, Principal Jackson. Good evening, distinguished guests on stage, district school committee members, our keynote speaker, outstanding faculty, proud families, and most importantly, the incredible accomplished and forever unforgettable graduating class of 2025. It is with immense joy and pride that I stand before you today to celebrate the remarkable journey you've all taken at Greater Lawrence Technical School. I know this journey
wasn't always smooth, especially when the Wi-Fi didn't cooperate for four days this year. Your machines sometimes had attitudes or you realize too late that torches are too hot. But through it all, you made it. And we are all here to cheer you on. All those shop projects that started as a mystery and ended in triumph. Every late night homework session, all of it has led you to this moment. You didn't just gain academic and technical skills. You developed resilience, creativity, and the ability to troubleshoot like a pro. And let's be honest, that last skill might be the most valuable of all. Before I offer a few parting words of advice, I want to recognize some of our courageous graduates who have chosen to serve our country. Their selfless commitment ensures that the rest of us
can pursue our dreams in a safer and free world. At this time, I would like to introduce Miss Brenda Richardson, assistant superintendent. She will announce the names of the 12 students being recognized for the commitment to serving in the United States military. As your name is called, please come up on stage to receive a flag of our gratitude and certificate from our House of Representatives presented by them and by me. Thank you very much. It's a huge honor to introduce the following students. Geriss Rodriguez, Air [Applause] Force. Armando Rodriguez, Army. [Applause] Amber Javier [Applause] Army Briani Leon Diaz Army [Applause] Roberto Zerilla, Army National Guard. [Applause] So this is Victor Kingsley Army National Guard [Applause] Roberto Army National Guard. What's your name? I don't know what you did. Okay, so we have Roberto and Amber.
Yeah. We'll separate them. Okay. Harold Guerrero, Marines, [Music] [Applause] Michael O. Sullivan, Marines. [Applause] Yep. He's coming up now. Amber Vieos Diaz, Air Force [Applause] Is she not here? Maybe she's not here. Yandelle Alvarado, Navy. [Applause] Hillary Dleon Morell, National Guard. [Applause] We have one more. Yep. Miranda Del Villar, Air Force. [Applause] Thank you for your [Applause] service. Again, let me thank our students entering the military. We owe you a great uh gratitude. Thank you. Tonight, we honor the 58th graduating class of Greater Lawrence Technical School. As a proud member of the class of 1968, I welcome you to our growing GLTS alumni community. Trust me, graduation is not the end. It's just the moment when you pass your torch and you say good luck and don't drop it. When I asked many of you
recently, what makes this class special? What will you always cherish about your peers? Almost everyone spoke about how accepting and supportive you've been of each other regardless of your differences. You described a culture of kindness where people helped each other through challenges, celebrated each other's victories, and made room at the table for everyone. As you move on to your next challenge, please stay in touch and support one another. Your acceptance of each other is very special and rare. It is one of the great things I will never forget about the class of 2025. The beauty of a technical education is it doesn't just teach you how things work. It teaches you how to work. You've learned how to solve problems, fix things, design, create, and most importantly, think critically. John Dwey, the American philosopher and
educational reformer once said, "Education is not preparation for life. Education is life itself. And I think he would have loved seeing how you you've all embraced learning with your hands, your minds, and your hearts. You've been living your education every single day at Greater Lawrence Technical School. Whether you're heading off to enter the workforce, the military, or college, or still trying to figure out what you want for lunch tomorrow, one thing's for sure, you're ready. You've got skills that matter. You've got the experience that counts. And you've got a community behind you. Moreover, the skills and knowledge you've acquired at GLTS make you the backbone of our community. You are the welders, construction professionals, health professionals, mechanics, technicians who keep our cities running and help our economy grow. As we look to the future, it
is you. It is you skilled, driven, and in innovative who will help drive the economic growth of our region and beyond. You're not just graduating. You're stepping into your role as a vital contributor to a thriving society. I hope you'll take this with you. Keep learning. Keep building. Whether it's a new career, a family, a business, or a better vision of yourself, stay curious. Stay passionate. And don't be afraid to fail. Failing means you doing something challenging. And we don't grow from comfort zones. As you leave here tonight, diplomas in hand and maybe a little glitter still in your hair. Carry the GLTS spirit with you wherever you go. Or as Drake once sang, started from the bottom, now we're [Applause] here. And now that you are here, it's time to rise even higher. And
just like that popular song reminds us, [Music] Because your journey is only just beginning. The world is out there waiting for your talent, your voice, and your impact. I was going to sing that, but everyone said, "I don't think that'll work well." So, instead, we put it on for you. Be proud of what you've accomplished. Strive to be the kind of person others want to work with, live with, and learn from. Be honest, be hardworking, and never underestimate your power to make a difference. When opportunity knocks, don't wait for a formal invitation. Open the door. You've been trained. Build a better door if you have to. Congratulations to the innovators, creators, builders, and leaders of tomorrow, the class of 2025. Reggie's now and forever. Go out there and make us proud. Thank [Applause] you. At

A lifelong resident of Lawrence, Massachusetts, he grew up in the Beacon projects, where he learned the value of hard
work and perseverance from his parents. While working at the Mulas, Frank met Wanda, who would later become his wife. And after he graduated from Gretle Orange Technical School, determined to build a better future for his family, Frank purchased his first home at the age of 19 and went on to establish a real estate business. Deeply rooted in his community, Frank has dedicated his life to service, coaching little league and raising two children in the city he proudly calls home. His leadership and dedication were quickly recognized and earning

M Representative Frank [Applause] Moran, thank you, John. Come on, class of 2025. Make some noise. Come [Applause] on. We got to do it again. Let's do it. [Applause] [Music] Good evening, Superintendent Lavoy, members of the school committee, distinguished guests, families, friends, and most importantly, the resilient and accomplished graduates of the great Lawrence Technical High School class
of 2025. Buenoid amigos, the greater Lawrence Technical High School. Tonight we celebrate not just the completion of high school but the beginning of something even greater. New journeys, new opportunities, and new challenges that await each of you. Four years ago, you walked into these holes as eager freshmen full of questions, dreams, and ambition. It may be just a little panic. Maybe just a little panic. After all, someone out here probably told you that seniors might make you mop the roof. I don't know if that's true. Or go ask the principal for a left-handed screwdriver. Don't know what that is. And who can forget the confusion at the first schedule when you realize that shop week wasn't a vacation. Yes. And yes, you really did have gym at 8:00 a.m. I still don't know why we
have to do push-ups before breakfast. That should be illegal. Not sure why we do it today. You stand here as confident young adults ready to take your next steps into the world. That transformation didn't happen overnight. It took dedication, perseverance, and grit. That's no small fit. Reflecting on my own journey, I remember graduating from this very school in 1989, Losia. I felt excited, nervous, and uncertain, much like many of you may feel tonight. Since then, I owned a small business, remained deeply rooted in my community, served as city council president, and today I have the honor of serving as a second assistant majority leader in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, the highest ranking person of color in the state house, and the highest ranking official in history from the city of Lawrence, a Lawrence kid
from the Beacon Project, and a proud Reggie. Cisa P. My path wasn't easy and I know yours won't be either. But hear me clearly. Our struggles don't define us. They refine us. They shape us, challenge us, and reveal just how strong we truly are. This year's ceremony is especially meaningful meaningful for me because among you the graduates are two very dear to me very dear student to me my nephew Alex and Dave gentlemen our families are very proud of both of you you're somewhere out there to all of you stepping into the next phase whether it's college a career or military service remember this challenges aren't roadblocks They are invitations to grow. Embrace them. Learn from them. Let them sharpen your strength and build your character. Always strive for excellent. When you aim high, you
don't just transform your own life. You uplift your family, your community, and generations to come. Your success becomes part of something bigger than yourselves. Let's take a moment to recognize the people who helped you make this moment possible. This day is the product of years of hard work, sacrifice, and support. I hope you feel immense pride in what you have, but also deep gratitude. Now graduates, I'd like to ask you to do something very, very important. Please stand up. Please turn. Turn and face your parents, your families, your teachers. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] These these are the people who stood by you, believed in you, and lifted you up along the way. [Music] Now students, give your proud your parents and friends the loudest, most heartfelt round of applause. Please applaent, thank you
for your love, your guidance, and your unwavering support. [Music] graduates. You may be seated now. Graduates, remember this. Life is not a straight path. There will be twists and turns and moments that surprise you. But if you pursue what you love, work hard, and pursue your goals with purpose and passion, you will go far. Trust me. Trust yourself. Stay curious. Keep learning. You may not change the entire world overnight, but you can change your world. And when you do, you just might inspire others to do the same. Congratulations, class of 2025. We are proud of you. Welcome to the lifelong community of Greater Lawrence Technical High School alumni. The future is yours. Shape it boldly, live it fully, and never, never, ever, ever, ever forget where you come from. Congratulations everyone. Thank you, Representative Moran.
At this time, I would like to invite back to the stage Jalissa Sanchez to deliver her saludiatoran address. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Good evening everyone, esteemed faculty, family, friends, and most importantly the graduating class of 2025. It's an incredible honor to stand before you today as your saludiatoran. Being given this opportunity to address all of you, my peers, friends, teachers, and parents, is a privilege. Tonight is bittersweet. We are closing a chapter that has defined so much of who we are. As we sit here in our caps and gowns, it's impossible not to reflect on the last four years, the memories we've made, the lessons we've learned, and the people we've become. We've been through a lot together. From the nervous excitement of freshman year, navigating unfamiliar hallways and facing the daunting task of
choosing a career path, to the growth and confidence that came with sophomore year. By junior year, a mix of uncertainty and hope set in, especially at the possibility of co-op opportunities. And finally, the whirlwind of senior year, the final sprint towards the finish line. A time marked not only by excitement, but also the chaos of deadlines, the stress of of college applications, and the weight of decisions about the future. Whether it was choosing to pursue college, enlist in the military, or enter the workforce, senior year challenged us to truly consider who we are and where we want to go next. Throughout it all, there were medals won, grades earned, roles played, goals achieved. And yet, as meaningful as those accomplishments felt in the moment, they will someday just become memories. Trophies on a shelf, certificates
and drawers. What will endure is our character because the real victory isn't the medal or the title. It's striving to reach your goals that solidify our drive and response to challenges. It's the way you showed up when no one was watching. It's the strength you give, the kindness you gave, the resilience you developed, and the integrity you held on to when things got hard. As Miley Cyrus so perfectly put in her song, The Climb, just keep pushing on because there's always going to be another mountain. There will always be challenges ahead, tests we didn't study for, detours we didn't plan for, but the climb doesn't end here. It's just the beginning. Mommy, papy. I want to take a moment to thank all parents and guardians who made the climb possible for the class of 2025.
Your love, your sacrifice, and your unwavering support gave us the strength and discipline to aim high and keep going. Every long night, every hard choice, every moment we wanted to give up, you are our foundation. We love you and we are endlessly grateful for everything you've done for us. And to my classmates, I want to leave you with this. You don't need to know of everything or have it all figured out before you start. The real world may be unpredictable, but don't let that stop you. Step into it with strength, with courage, and with the unshakable belief that who you are, your character will carry you through anything. Class of 2025, we made it. Congratulations. Thank you. [Applause] [Music] Thank you, Jerissa. At this time, it is my pleasure to call up Bernice Olivier to
deliver her validictorian address. Thank you for your words, Julissa. Good evening, faculty, proud parents, and fellow graduates of the class of 2025. My name is Bernice Olivier and it is an honor and privilege to stand before you today as your valadictorian. As we gather here to celebrate this milestone, let us reflect on the experiences and people who have shaped us into the individuals we are today. First, I would like to thank our teachers and counselors for their unwavering support and dedication to our high school experience. They have guided us through challenges during our academic and shop classes, providing us with not only knowledge, but the life lessons that will serve us well in the obstacles we may face in the future. Thank you for believing in us and for guiding us towards excellence. I would
also like to thank our families for their sacrifices and encouragement. You have cheered for us during our victories and provided comfort during our struggles. Your love and support have been a source of strength for which we are eternally grateful. Thank you for all the support and I hope you continue to motivate us as we progress into the future. As we look back on our high school years, we must acknowledge the memories we have created that play crucial roles in our current identities. From the moments of fellowship during pep rallies to high-spirited discussions in class, each experience has contributed to our high school life. These memories will remain in our hearts and be a reminder of the friendships we made and the lessons we've learned. However, high school has not only been about academic success or
social connections, but it has also been a time for us to experience personal growth. A challenge I have learned to work with is my social anxiety. As many may know, I am a quiet person, always keeping to myself. I would have never thought I would be in this position giving a speech to Manny, but thanks to the constant support from my family and peers who have pushed my boundaries, here I am. We have all faced obstacles that challenged our resilience and tested our resolve. Each of our setbacks taught us the importance of perseverance and adaptability. As we move on to the next journey, let us carry these lessons. Today, each of us stands with our heads high, ready to proceed with our new journeys. Whether we pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or explore other
paths, we do so with knowledge and experiences that will guide us. The world is filled with opportunities, but it also presents challenges that require determination and persistence. Let us embrace these challenges with open hearts and minds, ready to learn and grow. In closing, I would like each of you to remember that our time in high school has prepared us for life itself. As we venture into the future, let us remain eager to learn, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact in our communities. The world needs our voices, our ideas, and our actions. Thank you, class of 2025, for the memories, the laughters, and the lessons. Let us move forward with hope and determination, ready to create a brighter future for ourselves and for those who follow in our footsteps. Sigos me class an [Music]
