yes sir and we're good nick um they prefer that because then the tape can pick you up better are we all setting it yep okay all right this is a call to order of a meeting of the bridgeport board of education's contracts committee present are myself committee chair john weldon and committee member joe sakalovic note that committee member lombard is absent and we also have non-committee member but board member albert benahan first item on the agenda is i'm sorry we'll have you introduce yourselves hi i'm lindsay davis i'm the principal of classical studies davis classical studies tony paris uh business manager manager james denton director of adult education okay those are our staff members first item of business is approvable minutes june 10 2021 is there a motion to approve so moved i will second
is there any discussion no sir all in favor aye opposed an abstain item two discussion possible referral to the board to issue solicitation for athletic training services mr pyres and mr denton so good evening so this is a an rfp requesting the services of athletic trainers to be present at our athletic events for the high school students we've uh had select therapy doing the the training for the last three years we try to extend it but ordinance says we have to put it out to bitcoin for another three years so we've agreed to have purchasing extend a per diem basis the services of select physical therapy to continue to provide the service through the fall and once this rfp is complete and the selection process is complete then the contract will begin um in january
hopefully through the next three years okay does anyone have any questions this was given to everybody electronically in advance i believe we got all the required insurances and yeah that's all part of it and it's a standard rfp yeah standard master legal viewed by the city attorney's office and uh again it's we're just going through the process right that's good to get through contracts in the board nothing further okay anyone else okay i'll seek a motion to refer this to the full board where the recommendation that this rfp be issued no move is there a second i'll second all in favor aye opposed okay this will be on the agenda for monday night perfect presented again there and hang out with us for the rest mike well we'll listen to chris davis all right next
item on the agenda and these are almost identical items three and four three is discussion possible referral to the full board to approve contract with access educational services to provide after school program at classical studies magnet academy and a similar item with an organization called the carver foundation to also provide after-school programs at classical studies so ms davis so we have the two contracts they're the same as last year the only thing that's changed are the dates um of operation of the program last year our program was virtual we're going back to an in-person program this year carver foundation partners with the linwood campus for our third through sixth graders they actually supplement the program and fundraise to bring more funds in for that so that we can bring other experiences into the students and
it's um to fund a program that's free of charge for all students and open to all students and grades this program with carver is three through six with volunteer opportunities for our middle school students to assist in the program the other contract with access they're one of our community-based partners with that program we also partner with the discovery museum but we access provides lego engineering for our second graders and we provide that two days a week as part of our after school program again free of charge and offered to all students in grades k to two how are these programs funded every five do we pay for this or are these organizations self-funding it's a grant it's the extended school hours grant um it comes to us and we pay so yes it comes to
us part of the grant is that we um provide a certain amount of that funding back into community-based organizations so these are the two major community-based organizations that we um partner with and and fun okay anyone have any questions yeah i'm a little more familiar with the carver they've been getting good feedback on how's the feedback with the access program access is fantastic we've actually expanded um over the last several years we've been working with them for quite some time now they've provided the lego league junior for our second graders and as the years have gone on we've built on that and they work with carver also to provide programming for third and fourth graders that previously had the experience in second grade so they build on their experiences as as they grow up and
move through the grades and you're recommending approval well does anyone else have a question no okay all right then i would seek a motion to refer these two items to the full board with a recommendation to approve them they'll move on to evening so okay i'll second all in favor aye opposed okay these two items will be on monday night's agenda and you'll be able to present these to the full court excellent thank you so much you presented it well tonight and i think you'll do the same monday so we'll make quick work of it all right is there a motion to adjourn still moved second all in favor aye post time is known as being 6 26 p.m tony you were brilliant [Laughter] good to see you in person i know we've been seeing
