Everybody stand [clears throat] to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. So our mission statement, excellence in education, preparation [clears throat] for life. Note that all members are in attendance. Now is the time for public comments. Anybody has anything? Okay. Consent items. Yep. >> Okay. public input on the proposed contract between the Prairie Heights Community School Corporation and Prairie Heights Education Association. So, [snorts] it's not a public hearing, but if anybody has any comments from the public, now is the time to do it. [snorts] >> Okay. >> Uh the tenative agreement, I went over the details of the contract. We don't have to do that this meeting. If you want me to, I can read them
again. You can be wise. >> Okay. So, it is going to be a two-year contract retroactive to July 1st, 2025 through June 30th of 2027. Uh calls for a $3,500 uh base raise year one and $2,000 in year two. Also, a $2,500 stipen in year one. And in year two, uh those who achieve the literacy endorsement will um earn an extra $250 to their base pay. We raised the ancillary pay uh to $30 an hour. Um increased all of our extracurricular positions 7% and this also increased our starting salary up to uh the state requirement of 45,000. >> Any questions for Mr. Reed? We have a motion. >> Move. Is there a second? >> A second. Jamie Stton, is there any discussion? [clears throat] I would just like to say publicly that uh I think
this is this is great the teachers. I don't know [clears throat] that it's necessarily wise or prudent. Uh because we have extra money to give it out with nothing in return. I think that we need to start all parties all parties uh specifically the negotiation team of the union to consider how we can have a win-win situation instead of winners and losers. And an [clears throat] example of that might be uh for instance uh last year we spent about 230,000 in substitute pay and yet we desire for the best of our students uh that our teachers be in the classroom. So there are a lot of areas that we could work on going forward so [clears throat] that not just the teachers win but also students and taxpayers and administrators. So, I think that is
important. We must start looking forward. Uh the old mindset of we win, you lose has got to go if we're going to advance and keep up in public education. >> Any other discussion? >> Can I make a public comment now? >> No, public comment's over. Sorry. You can you can do that at the union meeting. >> Any other discussion? Okay, we'll proceed to vote. All those in favor? Motion carries 5 to zero. Item B, recommendation to approve the compensation amendment 25. That is the administrator raises are the same as the teachers. >> Yeah. So in your packet, I put a copy of that just what their salaries would be, but it's the same increase as what the teacher contract calls for. >> Any questions? motion. >> Heather, >> I'll second. >> Any further discussion? All
those in favor? Opposed? Motion carries 5 to zero. Item C, recommendation to approve a supplemental payment to the certified staff, $2,500 stipen to certified staff year one and year two of the contract. [snorts] >> Yeah. So again, in your packets, it gave you a copy of that language and that that sheet. Um, this is not part of the contract language. So I want to make sure that this is approved as well. So have a motion. Heather >> second >> Aaron. All those in favor? Motion carries 5 to zero. Item D, recommendation to approve the proposed pay increases for classified staff and bus drivers. Mr. >> Yeah, I also sent you a copy of that. So for our classified staff, uh we'd like to raise their hourly rate by $150 per hour year one and in
year two. Our bus rates, we're going to increase our daily rate from 10950 per day to $11250 per day in year one. And then we'll increase it by $3 again for year two up to $115.50. Um and then our food service employees, they're going to receive a stipen in the amount of 1350 for year one and year two. And the reason we're we're paying them a stipen compared to hourly increases because their hourly wages are a little bit offset from everybody else. So we're trying to close that gap a little bit. So definitely wanted to make sure they got something. We're just going to pay them as a stipen for these two years. And then our hourly wages for our other classified staff should catch up to them a little bit. Okay. Any >> questions?
A motion to approve. Motion. Jamie. Yes. Second. Okay. All those in favor? Motion carries. Five to zero. That's it for action items. Superintendent comments. Anything. Mr. Re, >> that's all I have. >> Any board members have comments? Any announcements? Meeting adjourned at 508. We have a signing of documents. Thank you for coming.
