uh as Cognia members, your team and folks that work on this just have all kinds of tools on our websites and what we call e-rove and all these that that really help and assist you there. Hallelujah. We're back. I'm going to zoop us forward. Here we go. Oh ah now how it will look different too. We say uh there will be the actual presentation and the visit and likely that it won't be like it was the last time we all all come together with a big special call board meeting and the superintendent comes out. It will be an intimate setting with Dr. ask you and maybe one or two uh might be just him or one or two other people and uh there will be the followup from the accreditation. You will not receive accreditation

on that day. You'll just kind of have an idea of where you stand and a lot of discovery there. that will come uh maybe two months later because now as it stands we've got our big board of directors the uh Cogna global commission that all the information from Dothan city will be presented and it's like we decree that Dothan city uh as you review this material is eligible for accreditation and then at that point it becomes official with that. So, as I said, that's slightly different from the way it used to be. Um, but it's uh I I think you'll find it pretty seamless and good as far as that's concerned. Quick test here. Let me go back. Well, I'm going to fail technology here. Holy smoke. I'm [laughter] I'm going in the total different

direction. I wonder I couldn't find what I'm looking for. Talk among yourselves. I'll be with you just It's getting late today. Here we go. Which of these do you want? Accredited? >> Yes. >> Accredited under review? Accredited under conditions? No. I think you're well on your way to accreditation. And you get that valuable feedback. and being recognized. Here's just the process that Lee and her team have gone through. That's not anything critical. But several months ago, Lee and Superintendent Ascu and their team started the self assessment that will lead to in April a virtual accreditation engagement review which by then all the big work will have been done. And then you will receive your um uh your Good Housekeeping seal of approval. Let's just think optimistically on accreditation. And then as they're wrapping up, they'll

have likely some uh areas for improvement or uh and usually that's two or three areas of where this is something to work on that will be given to the school district. And in approximately, because this is a six-year process, two and a half to three years out, Donna Calhoun will circle back with you and make sure that you've done your part that you just didn't wave everybody even though we're not waving anymore because they're not here in person, but you just um signed off and that's over and hadn't thought about it again. No, showing you're still continuously improving three years out, which will then lead into um that six-year cycle. This is things we've already said. Uh the review works best when it is an opportunity to learn. looking at your overall culture, a review.

It's not a gotcha, not a we have to be perfect situation. We haven't found a school system yet that is all fours. Um there might be one out there. I'm not aware of it. Um, but to to say there are a lot of school systems that are operating really excellently and I'm I'm just looking forward to the the good results of Dothan City. We talked about how the engagement reviews work. Now that's we've talked about this that's really showing you that's to keep your team on track of how the six-year cycle works. These are things that you don't have to worry about, but if you want to have one of the team walk you through so you can see them with your own eyes. But as Cognia members, you've got all these tools that are

online to use and it's really great and it keeps track and some of those are hooked in the state department of education and we all work together on those. Uh, not a trick question because you might not opt to use it, but do y'all use the Elliott here? >> Yes. >> That's fine. That's fine. We offer it as a tool out there, but all we say is that uh you have something that can demonstrate student engagement so that we can get real live data out of that instead of just walking in a classroom going, "Oh my, it looks pretty in here." They're all engaged. That gives us hard numbers about that. And then also as a part of that and the state department requires the Alabama teacher observational tool and these are two separate things.

People say do we have to do the Elliot and what we call the teacher observation tool is also the ATOT. Yes. Uh because Cognney is looking for the Elliot. The state department is looking for the at. But the Elliott looks and can give numerical measures. It's kind of like magic uh to student engagement. the Alabama teacher observation tool um can uh really look in to areas for uh not to be used as some kind of disciplinary thing or um some corrective action towards the teacher. It it looks for um where there's particular strength in a teacher's lesson and when there's area for growth and uh you're able to assign uh best professional development through the results you get get out of the ATOT so that instead of teachers just s kind of guess where they

need to grow you can help them there. the diagnostics. We talked about those. These are all things that Lee Jacobs and her team uh use. And there's lots of surveys that are available. Cogna provides these. You can use your own surveys. Um Cognia provides surveys that everybody here should have an opportunity for because you might fall into multiple audiences. You might be a parent. Uh you might uh be a staff member. you might uh be a a a teacher. What all of it fits together in the different surveys that come together there. And all of our surveys are certified. In other words, they are all highly researched and valid and reliable and all those things you want with a survey. Strategic planning is an important part of this and this is just a tool and

I think you've got this available in that padlet I'm going to share with you for that to show you one of the tools also available. You can carve out your strategic plan through the the Cogna u website that you've got where you can boil it down to one page that you can hand out in the grocery store. If somebody says, "What's going on in your school district?" You got little colorful tools like that. And then we talked about assessment is an area we continue to to grow in. We got a learning community we're about to roll out which let school districts carve out and prepare their own learning. These these are not things critical to you today about how we're going to get through accreditation. Hopefully, we've addressed all these issues. I'm just letting you

know there's a whole world of stuff out there. And guess what? You got any questions? Y'all are going to know exactly where to find me. The aim of education is not knowledge, but action. And let's all say this as an enthusiastic school board. We should >> Amen. Questions? The end. So, make sure that um y'all I have my I have my card and superintendent ask you I keep up with the sale numbers everything making sure and got any questions refer them to superintendent ask you and he can track me down and we'll make sure we know that and and just for the paperwork I've got to uh take back, make sure you sign the signin sheet and that you will fill out that evaluation. And do you have any questions? Is there something you came

today saying, "David, he didn't even mention such and such." Or did you not know what you were in store for today? I hope I I made it bearable for you. And I'm going to I put these in an envelope and seal them up. So, when y'all have y'all have finished, just pass your evaluations. Put them put them in there face down and I'll get them to the right people. Lee, do you have any questions? All right. Chief School Financial Officer, Miss Walker, any questions? Okay. Well, thank you for your service because right here. Oh, with that, too. Do you need a copy of the signing sheet? Okay. Oh, that's handy. Can I get a Can I get a selfie with y'all? I also want to get an individual selfie with you. Andreot. having a good

time. Thank you so much. Goes way back. Y I think I said this earlier, but we're so appreciative Jacobs serving our advisory committee because she is able to bring information to us, hey, we need this. Here's what we're hearing on the street. It helps us shape the ways to best help y'all for us to continuously improve. greatly appreciate for her service. All right, all this is
