001It is 6 o'clock, so we will call this meeting to order. Like to welcome Natalie to the board. Um, first item on the agenda is a motion to adopt a resolution uh 2026009 relating to collection of officers. >> Move. Second. All those in favor 6. I think Kenny will be here. He said he's probably be a little bit late. >> Okay. >> He doesn't even have >> uh so I would accept motion to nominate nominations for president. >> I move to nominate Mark. >> Second. [clears throat] [laughter] >> Wow. Not all at once. You missed your chance, kidney. >> All right. All those >> That's why you got >> All those in favor. >> 70. >> I would accept. >> Thank you. >> Motion to nominate the vice president. >> I move to nominate Bobby
002Pogo. >> Oh, I love you. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> 70. >> Thanks, guys. >> You don't have to change anything. I don't have to get 20,000 signatures on a whole bunch of bank cards. >> Okay. Um, next item is to adopt a resolution 202610 relating to establishing board meeting dates. >> It just says that we establish those in July. >> That we make that decision in July when fiscal year. >> I move second. All those in favor with 70. Okay, [clears throat] we are ready to approve the agenda. I'm not aware of any changes or additions this time. So I'll accept a motion to approve the agenda as presented. >> I move second. >> All those in favor? 70. Okay. Consent agenda. Next, there are number of minutes for the meetings
003we've had in the last months month >> month and uh you should have your check register in your folder. So, there's any question >> it was on the drive too but >> is this an updated check register or >> um the one is December's and you've actually already approved that one because we approved it earlier but it's still on our list. The other one was one I did on Saturday. I I added two on Saturday. That the two-page one is the newest one that has all the January checks that have been written. >> So that those can be mailed out before the month order. Consent agenda and all those favor 70. Okay. Uh board member reports. I'm not aware of any. Okay, we move on to discussion items. First one [clears throat] is the insurance
004renewal discussion. >> Yep. Do you want me to? >> Yeah. J, do you have it? This is a hard copy. It should be at your desk. It just came here later on this afternoon. Um I don't know if we have anything. I'll let Janet kind of take take over in a second. Um >> for short term it's all looks pretty good considering >> last couple years venturing really not much um changes there. There is a little bit of a recommendation from them on cyber security which actually is better coverage they reduce cost. >> Right. Correct. So, uh, Birkshshire Hathaway is our auto and it went up about $500. Basically, the difference is we had a new vehicle that we purchased last year that got came on several months into the policy and this year it's
005on for the whole year. That's basically the only change in our vehicle. So, really no basic no increase in coverage on that. They just kind of shared I had asked them about a claim we had. They shared that they had paid out and I'm guessing that's probably all that's going to be paid out with that claim. So we've we've had a super good year again on claims and chub our commercial property that's about a 6% increase. Basically it has to do with valuation. Um you know that's pretty standard for for anybody. They said our cyber is interesting. It went down. So the policy they have added to it and added some coverage. And if you want to see that I uploaded those policies to the board to the board drive so you can read those.
006um we have an option. So basically we paid $7,010 last year. Our renewal is $6,35. So it's significantly lower. Uh same deductible, but it's actually better coverage. They gave us another option. We could um do a no deductible, pay a little bit more money, which is still cheaper than uh what our rate was last year. The recommendation is not to do that though because cyber incidences are so low. You know, the chances of having having a cyber incident are really pretty low. So, you're better off to keep that extra money in your pocket than than take down that deductible. >> And th this number, it's nice to see considering we did have a claim last year with the P school um >> and I asked him about that and he said holded that one on
007P school. they took full responsibility and their their documentation gave nothing that would indicate anything needed to come back to any of the schools that were involved in that. So >> what's an example of the cyber? >> So say I mean so right now like our software for say payroll it's on my computer. It's not on a network. So it'd be really hard to get uh if it was on the network say somebody could come in break into our network and they could steal all of our social security numbers, our names you if if they could get through it. So that would be a cyber incident that we would have to have a claim on. Billy has we have a program that sends um I guess fake fishing scams to staff >> to test them.
008>> Yeah, HR sent me one the other day. I didn't remember sending it out. >> The only reason I asked is like for power school and things like that that have their it's a networking system. They have some level of >> they do our contract our contract that we have with them puts all of that responsibility back on them. But we pay them that covers all of the cyber protection on their end for power spool. >> What happened with them is they had an employee that clicked on something they shouldn't have gained access back. are >> just at your suggestion that it's not really necessary because there's these other layers that >> I mean we it is really a low you know and if and when I talked to like James and Brett they see
009hardly any really if any cyber instances except like the power school thing and and those are usually larger companies that already have underright writers that have have written that those that insurance into our contract. So, we're exempt from from uh any liability. So, but anyway, so and these are decisions, you know, our insurance renews in February. This is, you know, we're finally to the point we can get information earlier because we really have had, like they said, we've had clean years. We've done really well. Been very careful careful so we don't have claims. Uh they did say the GL and the um ELLL quote they're hoping to have by the end of the liability. They're hoping to have that by the end of this week. Um, in fact, I think he sent him an email
010and said he's got to have it by Friday. So, we'll know that be long before our next meeting, too, and I can send that information out when it comes. And then the windheld buy down. They're not sure how that's going to come out. They said that a lot of insurance companies, they've seen a lot of increase in windheld buyback with all damage, you know, storm damage across America. And so, they're just kind of waiting to see what what that's going to do. Uh, at >> we did a buy down, didn't we? >> We did. We buy down the $50,000 um deductible is what we buy down to [clears throat] from a 1%. >> I want to say the cost was about $50,000ish last year. >> Um, and we've got plenty of contingency if we need
011to cover it by way through. But >> so anyway, that this is just just a little bit of an of a heads up about what it what it looks like it's going to do. So you're not coming up in February and getting all these numbers at the meeting when we have four days to pay our renewals. And so this gives you a little bit little bit more time. And actually I am impressed. They look awesome. Uh you know we originally came into this after we lost EMC thinking that we were going to have a huge increase and we managed to not have that that horrible increase and we are staying steady. So that's that's a good thing in my in my opinion. Any questions? Okay. >> Hope the health insurance is the same way. >>
012Well, since we're talking insurance, I'll just give you a little update. Greg was here from Blue Cross Blue Shield this morning and he he brought me just a lot of reports that kind of tell us where we're at. And so far, um, this year we are I'm we're 100,000 down right now on pharmaceutical. And I'm just I'm now I'm just going to be honest. I was our big pharmaceutical person. And with my medication changes, I have saved enough of the medicine when they switched me that I will not be getting my $20,000 a month prescription from now on because I end in April and I have enough medicine of two different doses to get me through. And I told my oncologist, I'm lowering myself to the lower dose to finish out. I will not be
013claiming anymore. So, our pharmacy should stay down hopefully, which is going to be a good thing, which um but other than that, we are really just right in line uh kind of underneath where we were last year. So, so right now, unless there's something major that hasn't been um you know, sent into insurance or processed or somebody has something major, we go through the end of March is so we've got little little over two months left on it. But right now, everything is looking really good for insurance >> and our has been changed which is going to help us out with negotiations too to have more of a solid number before we get into the negotiations for that. >> So, so yeah, that's good. That's so far good news, too. So, knock on wood. >>
014We're still battling with them a little bit. Just voice opinion on a few things, too. And they he talked about how they're looking there's like possible legislation at the state and federal level that might change to be able to help us out a little bit. >> Right. And they they are uh taking quite they're taking quite a few uh prescriptions off because some a lot of them are the ones they you advertise on TV, they get the big buyback that they don't pass on to us. But they actually have determined that there's some prescription that doctors aren't writing because people are getting more money or something by writing these other ones. Uh when there are some generics that are available at a lot lesser cost, that makes a lot more sense. So he said they
015are revamping uh their their prescription medications that are allowed anyway and you're going to have to go with the >> time frame for estimate. So usually around is it July one roughly they're able to give us an estimate? Um, I would say we should probably have something by May in May, typically in May. >> And as long as we continue on the path we're going without a lot of usage right now, I mean, we're significantly down. So, but we still have one. >> Yeah. >> Just for negotiation purposes. Yeah. >> That was a big push we had last year was because we can't really finalize negotiations. So, you know what? We're paying for insurance. >> Well, and they've made some changes, too. They used to do an MLR report that I would have to go
016through and uh give them a lot of information on our employees and then they would pull in claims. Anyway, Blue Cross has decided that's really not beneficial. They're just going to go based on the claims that have been turned in instead of this this silly report that I've had to do every year. And so, this is the first year that actually is going to speed some things up too without having to do that. >> And I'm excited for not having to do that. Right now, all all insurance numbers look pretty good >> compared to compared to previous years. So, [clears throat] >> okay, move on to item B, the SPT contract. >> Yeah, I've got the SP contract um uploaded. I got these sent to me uh early December, early to mid December, and I
017sent them to Daryl and asked Daryl to kind of look over them um and give some feedback so that we had it ready to go for this meeting. And for both of them in this one and the next one, he didn't have any concerns or anything um and thought they looked pretty sound. In the SPT one, it's based on a percentage. Um, but if you're looking at kind of a hard number, it's roughly $280,000. But that would be all of their that would include the the drawings, the mechanical engineers, the structural engineers, the electrical engineers, all those fees. Um, to where we can have them go ahead and begin drawings so that, you know, with the successful election for the HVAC in March, we're still be able to be on pace to start that construction
018in the summer. versus waiting till after that then for lack of better words the the summer work time was kind of wasted because they'd be finished up the drawings then so questions it's [clears throat] the stock point we did this with HTK we ran into at some point they're like okay They got they said we'll go to a certain point stop until funding's secured that they mentioned that that has this their plan now they won't be done before March >> right but they'll be done by May with all their drawings that kind of stuff >> thank you >> what was the I'm sorry what was the total roughly 280,280. Sorry again be their total design fee or just >> correct. Well, their design including because once a contract is signed then that's when they kind
019of make those commitments with the structural engineer, mechanical engineer, all that stuff. They won't get them involved until the contract is signed. But yes, it would include all those >> and they want to start obviously as soon as possible time that they meeting, the next meeting. >> So I asked Greg in December um what the timeline would be in order for be able to have construction start at the end of school year. He said, "Well, probably no later than January, maybe February be cutting a close, but and again that's, you know, we're still the termination of the election, but >> it keeps us on pace to start in May versus waiting and starting this design after the election. And if we wanted it to go all the way 100% drawn, we'd have all that in
020our possession because we had paid for it. Whereas the other one, it was 50% draw and we never got any. >> We only paid 50%. >> So that's it's a it's a pretty big leap of faith. >> Yeah. No, I I get it. >> I mean, I it 100% drawings something we can't pay for because that's that's my that's my hesitancy because it you've been there. Uh, and that's that's my that's my that's what I'm nervous about because if the bond doesn't pass that that piece then I I mean we would have to look at other construction type options that these potentially wouldn't have anything like they may not be able to help us. >> Correct. >> Sorry that's that's >> we haven't already been here. I'd be no and that and that's valid. I
021just for I'm presenting all this to you as in if we want if things go the right way, we could start construction when school's out. If not, >> we're a year >> we're another year out most likely and so I don't know what the right answer. >> So that's 100% drawings of everything HVAC >> correct. It's a cost we're going to spend >> is it Yeah, >> just the Hback or does that include the entrances as well? >> The the 280 is the Hback >> because then it's it's based on percentage of the project focus just on the HVAC if because the secure entrances would be a separate >> HVAC system too I guess. >> Well, and that' be minimal in those additions be my assumption. It just be a separate unit. >> One more
022unit. When's the last time we've got a I'd be curious to know what I I You said you spoke to him in December. I'm I'm also looking. We're 50 days out from the election. So, what what is the like what is their drop dead day to be able to make this decision? And is it did that day pass? Is it today? Is it three weeks from now? And I'm >> I don't have that answer. >> Yeah. And that that's that's the part of SPT that we're putting a lot of faith in this that I I would love to hear their response of we're going to if you pass this today, we're going to start working tomorrow. That allows us to have this kind of time frame in place. If because this I mean this this
023is moving past the CM process and moving into we have now uh saddled ourselves into this plan. And so I'm just when we originally did this, we interviewed for a CM process and so that if passed then they get paid and all the things. This is different in that context, >> right? >> And so I'm like, yeah, >> from a CM standpoint, there's no obligation for any pay until it's accessible. So from the CM, there is no fees architect. It's a service. So that is done up front. And if you want to table with me try to give them to get a hard date I can. Um [clears throat] >> really change the the discussion though does I mean it's it's still >> wait till February we just wait till March. >> Yeah. Well are
024we doing this to try to figure out to order equipment? We trying to get drawings are we like I I you know if I hadn't already been here I'd probably feel different about this but I never said >> from the equipment standpoint when I talked with WS they said they can order equipment based on what they're seeing out for time that they can order at an election after the election and have it by the time the equipment is needed which should probably be >> July August. or mid June maybe. I I don't know what the timeline would be for how fast they need it, but so from the mechanical side of the equipment, they could do that post election and they felt with having it here. >> Tell me what information I get. I can
025do that, too. >> Crystal ball be nice. Yeah. [clears throat] I know what you're thinking. [clears throat] >> Magic a bit there. [laughter] >> Um >> I I don't know. Like I said, if you guys I would love to hear it from them. >> I guess that's kind of where I'm at. like we there are several pieces from this day forward to March 3rd that involve SPT beyond just this commitment. >> Yes. >> That we have committed to with them and partnership. And that's probably where I'm at is like I'd like to hear it from them on what what their perception of timelines regarding because this kind of I'm [clears throat] I'm having a hard time separating this from the bond in some context not just for the money purpose but we are in two
026partnerships on approval of this and I want to ensure that both partnerships are valued and continue forward that's going to happen once because this is this takes this takes The original system took the risk and put it on them. This takes the some of the risk away from them. Puts it on us. >> Puts $280,000 of risk on us. >> That's exactly right. And I want to make sure that we're on the same page that we're both still in this game together. That's probably that's that's my hesitancy. I'm I'm confident we are, but I appreciate hearing from you, but uh that's love to hear from them. You know, if you think differently on that, I'm >> No. So, do you want me to try to >> are you asking me to try to get them
027to join a special board we're meeting to present information like what what are you >> something on I mean I I get we've got a contract here that but all the contract really is is an agreement to do drawings right >> yeah and this this is the cost in order for us to do that I'm curious like how far what if the bond doesn't pass what how far do they get in these drawings that could give us other options or I mean I there are contingencies that we've not even considered or we we we're on our original contingency but I don't just hesitate without hearing from them >> there you just give me direction of what you want from them and I can reach out to them tomorrow >> I'm c okay so I want
028what's their timeline for once this is passed What are they developing and what do they see as the necessary timeline to have to have this in place for construction? Because once we make this commitment, we are semi-committing to having the funds and the construction process, the plans, the equipment ordered. Like that's what this motion approves that timeline all the way down to completion. So if we approve this tonight or whatever day we approve this, what is that timeline once this is done? Assuming the money's there I can't that's we didn't have this we didn't we just didn't have this ask in November or October or August. We knew we had, you know, we this is it was a tight this is still a tight time frame to be able to get this all in place
029by June. And I just want to hear him say, "Yeah, we can do it." And and here's our plan. If you approve drawings tonight, by March 5th, we can have you every piece of equipment you need to order and we'll be ready to install or whatever by >> such >> May 25th. The way it sounded earlier was like if we did this now, we have the time to get everything all have it all drawn up so we can do construction starting in uh May. If we wait until March, it sounds like we may not even be able to start. >> I want them to put down. >> That's what they're asking us for beyond that. meaning we if Wis can buy it if Wis can after March Queens can buy the equipment that we need
030>> and it'll be here >> before they need to install it meaning most likely in mid June early July and still be okay for us to start a new they'll still be the summer months is what I'm saying so I don't see why SP can't wait till then >> but it sounds like >> the drawings have to be done before any of that can >> right they're going to have to get all their drawings and everything set up and approved through all their engineers and then it goes out and goes we need to order >> this equipment. >> So I I I see what they're wanting. I'm just they're they're asking us for a pretty large leap of leap of faith to make this investment. I'd like just to some assurance that if once from
031day once this is approved here's [clears throat] 30 days out you'll have this 45 days out 120 days out >> and not uh well it turns out we can't do this and we're into next summer already um >> drop the ball >> yeah I mean I don't I just we have we have no assurance on this kind of on what they're asking that's maybe and if I'm the only one nervous about that then I I hope I'm I hope I'm wrong and this just all lands perfectly. >> No, it's just I No, I get it. And you know, essentially [clears throat] 300,000 it is a huge ass just coming out of our pocket when you're planning on it coming out of >> if you don't have the five the other 5.5 million to pay for
032it. >> Are they are they asking Jeff for us to pay this up front or pay it as they get bill it as they get accomplished? From my understanding is it just been like the previous one where you're going to pay >> as you go with HTK is we got that's why I was asking about the partial pay like we got to HDK and only paid half that bill because they got to us and said >> and that's goes back to you're asking about the timeline is on March 3rd are is their drawing 100% done or is it only 50% done and if so then if the bond doesn't pass do we still >> only have 50% right you see what I'm saying >> that's exactly what I'm asking >> like can be pro prrated
033if it if the >> bond doesn't pass. I mean, >> are we just on the hook for that entire amount? >> That's >> Well, they have done >> That's the right question. >> Yeah. And if they had it done by them, then I guess yeah, we we would owe them that money for doing that much work. But if they if they're only partially done with it, then I don't know. Kind of have those same questions. >> Would that money be re reimbursed from the bond if the bond passes? K. >> Yeah, it was originally included in the bond. >> Yeah, >> I didn't know. I didn't know. >> I don't know if that like you're talking reimburse the school savings account. >> It'll just be less money we can maybe take out later. >> I
034I don't know if that if it work that way. It might be something that you can use for other improvements in the building. >> Question I need an answer to. I don't I don't I would assume >> I think it would just be less maybe intended to take out a couple gone through all this already once >> I wouldn't have the questions I have now. >> Oh no. >> Because that is the right >> say for 50% March 3rd and it doesn't pass. Are we only on the hook for say >> 135,000 versus 270? >> That's where we were last time. >> Yeah, >> that's a big that's a big difference. >> Oh, yeah. >> Sure. That's my assumption, but I will get clarification based on that. So, >> need to go back to them
035essentially contract sound signed. Now, what what's the drawing timeline at March 3rd? What do they expect to have done? If it doesn't pass, what are we on the hook for? >> What percentage do you anticipate to be done on March 3rd with the drawing? 70, 80, 100%, 50%. That would be And then Yeah. Do we owe right? >> Yeah. Anything else? again timeline with this like with with the assumption that March 3rd passes. >> Yeah. I mean, have we seen a proposed construction schedule? >> All I know is not >> Yeah. So, the That's a good question. And is is it going to take two summers to do the whole basis? That's kind of what it sounded like. >> One, it was always going to be a two year process. Is that still kind of
036>> That was my understanding is they get as much done in the first whether it's the retunda or the gym and then the next summer would be the other. I can verify that. >> That might be worth worth asking again. That might be >> maybe maybe they want to work on the journal of that might be something Queens might have a better plan. I like it. >> Okay. Well, if we kind of push pause on this till we get some of those answers. If if we if the answer we get back is that they need us to make a decision on this soon, sooner than February, then we're going to have to have another meeting between now and then to do that. So, should be aware of that. Anything else for I I asked I
037don't you said that they transfer I I'm curious if anything like I know when we originally paid HTK we there were several I just want to make sure that SPT we got all we had them digitize all our blueprints and we paid for all those pieces when HTK K originally did this. What I want what I hope is that if there's any work possible that H because we paid for that that any work that HDK did >> we're paying for the same thing. >> Are we paying for the same thing twice? That's exactly like could could that all be usable for the next as they move forward. Now I also know we had a different systems planned but I I just ensuring that SPT >> has access to those things we already paid for if
038they're usable >> now as what it was then. I mean for HAC >> same plan. >> Yeah. That's true. >> We paid HDK for you digitiz. >> Well, that would have only been 50% drawing that >> I know, but I'm But if they did 50% of the gym, that's 50% of the gym that's already done. That's the same system. They think I get I'm making that assumption of the rotunda that was a 50%. >> Well, the rotunda is they were doing two pipes, right? >> We're just giving you a list, aren't we? >> That's fine. And again, like I told you guys from the beginning, it's you guys are the ones that are supposed to analyze. I'm the one that's going to keep the film the throttle to try to go. If we got to
039stop and get more information, that's fine. >> Well, it's sounds I'm hearing I'm hearing a lot of questions that would cause me to think we probably shouldn't make a decision on that tonight. So, >> um, on the next one, the WiiS and company contract, is that going to fall under the same umbrella then? Probably no reason to do one, not the other. I I would say there's I mean [clears throat] >> is there I guess there's no cost involved. >> There's no cost involved. The only thing with Wii and their contract is there's no cost until there's an a successful election. There's a contingent or caveat in there that says you have to try three times with them before you can choose another as CM. So this March one would be the second attempt. So
040if it was unsuccessful before we could go to a different C, we'd have to try a third time. >> I'm I'm not understanding. So the WS contract I understood the SPT contract is but I but the WS contract is separate from the original CM contract we already approved or is it just we had >> we have to reapprove it since we're going to >> we we chose them but we have we are not under we have not signed anything with Queens Construction at all. Were we supposed to have when we when we when we approved them as CM? >> A lot of CMs and architects want contracts right off the bat. They said that, you know, we're not in a hurry for this. So, we have not signed a contract for either one at this,
041>> but this is still a contract with WS that's only for the CM process. Correct. >> It's not for what we're talking about with plans with correct SPT drawings. I really >> no financial obligations. >> Yeah. And we've already in my mind we've already approved this. It just didn't >> approve them as CMR >> to to the previous situation. We had to sever the contract with the architect. I notified the CMR the previous situation to say hey we went a different you know because they were part of that. >> Yeah. But we had no contract to the to the construction management company. You mean correct? So I I mean it's it's tomato's motto. I mean approving it doesn't speed up a process at all. >> Changes anything you haven't already approved. >> I don't question
042said that signing contract we're obligated to try three times with them. We haven't signed a contract with the board. Does that first go around count? >> I clarified I clarified and he said yes. >> I don't I don't have I don't have any issue with them as a you know being a partner. I mean I think they've done fine so far. I'm not concerned about needing to get out of that. But I just like to know where that counter starts. Did it start? >> I clarified that first or November 1. >> The March the March one would be the second try. Okay. We can table both till and if and if if we have to have a special meeting pretty quick in order to keep the timeline they need to for SPT then we can
043add that one as well only up to the group you want to act on that package that's all we got to do be pretty quick I don't I don't I don't have a problem with moving weeks said, "I just I see this. We've already made that contractual obligation and we approved it." >> But the last go around it was the same deal. They we approved it. They sent the contract out and I as the president at the time >> That's right. >> But Daryl reviewed it and I just signed it like couple three weeks later. It was between meetings. I don't really remember much more than that. So, >> but I know they were pushing to get it signed and I was dragging my feet making sure. Yeah. Good person. to be sorry. Yeah. >>
044I'll get information and get back to you. >> Okay. >> All right. We'll move on. Uh board clerk evaluation. I guess it's that time of year. >> Is this just our notice to do it? >> Yeah. >> The stuff put in. Does have you guys sent a link out for that or anything? Like a new form? Nope. I I can >> might do that. I'm not sure if I have one. >> I don't know if I do either, but I'll have to dig around by next month. >> Yes, >> I have that leak. >> Of course you do, Lobby. >> I know. >> Yeah, that's You want somebody that's got the good recordkeeping talking to Bobby, not me. >> I've been the one to compile them. So, as you do them, send them to me.
045do for >> everyone else in the email and I'll compile scores and summarize it best I can. >> I'll try to when I get home tonight I'll see if I can find that and send it out to everybody. >> Okay. Um preliminary 2627 staffing. >> Yeah. Well, Miss Keller was planning on presenting and she is home sick and so I will do my best u to go through that. I uploaded the spreadsheet that she had um put together and changed any student name with a number so that not only is it redacted, it's not there. Um and just kind of revamped the order. But if you go you can go through here and I guess if we just want to start at the kindergarten she was she got she sought input from building leadership team
046um and kind of looked at different things on >> is this year >> the the the grades listed are next year. >> Okay. >> So this would be 26 27 kinder >> garden. >> Yes. Um, [clears throat] and so she went through how many students are on a speech IEP or academic IEP, chronically absent, office referrals, and then how many kids are identified as t needing tier 2 or tier three service for ELA and that um since she was I told her I'd try to go through this with you guys a little bit just to kind of um get some information to you guys and maybe have a more in-depth conversation next month. Um but it I mean it would be nice to if we're going to have any openings to have those you know
047before spring break so that we can get out and reach out to some um applicants before it's too late. But um [clears throat] if you look at that, she put her notes down there. So for kindergarten um and again um there's not going to be a lot of kids are identified um with special education at preschool age. Um, a lot of that comes a little bit later, but you can see the needs for tiered services there. Um, I would say compared to some grades that tiered service isn't as big of a need as some of the other ones. I do know that in previous years with kiddos being smaller that they showed a lot of growth with kids came in, but you can see that one. Um, first grade. Um, again, it's it's good data.
048shows how many the chronically absent for the first grade which is current kindergarten is a relatively large number everyone's kind of concerning and that's just chronically absent is more than 10 days in a school um school year um so you can see I think both for kindergarten and first grade um her ask is to have two teachers each one of those um second grade um if you look at that and I told her that And I might disagree on a little bit with numbers, but seven that second grade class um she said that she would ask for one and a half. I think in a lot of ways that one might be sufficient there. I know teachers may view that a little bit different, but 17 kids in a class I don't think is excessive.
049>> And I mean there's not a lot of tiered >> correct >> or spending. But >> yeah, >> again, you I want I'd like for you guys to kind of chew on this and and be ready to have further discussions with her next month. [clears throat] >> Um third grade, um there's a lot a lot of needs um from the you can see um I just sorted these for the reading tier was so change the order. It's not alphabetical, but um you can see that there's 71% that are receiving tier 2 or tier three services in ELA. Um, you know, the state mandate, well, I should mandate the state really focuses a lot on reading being out of grade level at third grade to reading level. Um, and so, um, that's one that tears, >>
050right? >> Yeah. >> Um, fourth grade, um, obviously 29 kids is too much for one alone. And there's also about 50% of the kids there that, um, you know, receive me tier services for reading. Um, plus you've got um some special ed services in there as well. Um, and the same thing with fifth grade um with about 70% of the kids are that are needing tiered services for reading and about 42 for math. So, >> so she is this would be one more hired one more >> based on everything that she is she has asked here. I think it's two, but one of them was at halftime for second grade, which is, you know, the debate. And I told her that >> I'm Yeah, I'm kind of curious that how do we compare staffing now
051to what the request is for next year? >> I believe she said that based on her numbers here that that she would like to ask for two. And I told her that she may not get what she wants, but she can be willing to present a little more information when she's feeling better. So, or one and a half more. Is there not a halftime deter? >> We have a halftime right now. >> So it' be So we currently have two kindergarten. We currently have one first grade and based on this I think >> she re >> right now we have two. >> We have two kindergarten. We have one first grade but her recommendation here is two at first grade. So that would be a position our current second grade >> is one >> two
052but that number was 24 kids. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Um third grade is two which would remain two. Fourth grade is currently one and fifth grade is one this year. >> Is Janice count as she five the.5 is in fourth grade this year. Count first grade. So based on what she put in her notes here, it would be additional two. Um, but again, I'm not asking for any decisions tonight, and I want you guys to just see the data that she had to present and she could probably offer a little bit more insight on um those numbers. But I I do know that the last two years with our kindergarten classes being a little bit smaller that there's been a lot of the data show has shown a lot of growth which is good for
053lack of better words to you know try to get those kids those foundational skills to be successful later on but >> like growth because of smaller group size >> more be able to do a little more intensive focus on those kids that need the services. >> Yes. Where are you going to put two more teachers? >> We have an open room. >> Two classrooms open right now. >> So, there's classroom space to be >> one of those to work. >> Correct. >> Just so another factor I'm curious is what are this is this next year's kindergarten. What are we estimating for would be the 27 28 kindergarten classes look like? >> One of my one of my concerns is as we continue to add staff in here and you look at these larger classes coming
054up is >> at some point you I don't want to have to >> we have to consider are we overstaffed bring smaller classes >> hire on a teacher and then a year or two later let >> have to rip the teacher. No 100% agree. So based on our current numbers, we have 14 three-year-old prek and 18 four-year-old. Now, I would argue that we probably don't have all the three-year-olds within the district, but we have 13, excuse me, 14 >> currently. >> Three year olds currently. >> So between three and four year old, >> 14 and 18. >> 18. >> So we've got 32 prek between the morning and afternoon. Do we think we have all the four year olds? Because there are some that don't even probably >> but with two teachers in that that
055that makes sense. And splitting that >> except that second grade goes from 17 to 22 enrollment that's 24. >> Well, and we kind of had that this year with the Well, that's fifth grade on here. When we started enrollment, if I remember right, we're at 22. And then we had kids come in and now we're at 26. >> Do these count the new kids we had over the last >> And I would argue that >> few weeks >> the difference between 22 and 26 that four difference of four is a big difference. Um difference between 17 and 21 is a little bit different if that makes sense. >> But also just in space four more kids is four more desks and that's a lot of space. >> Sure. >> And it's tight. So I I
056would ask that you look through this a little bit more um in depth between now and the next meeting and she'll probably be able to give you a little bit more insight on what those actual needs are. Um but I think identifying and looking at the tiered services that the kids receiving that um you know those kids are going to require a little more intensive services. So >> this what we like for parents showing up what we're like for parents in those classrooms too. >> Just continue to want to make sure our our staff know and our investment like at first grade at 18. That's that is not something we would have to split. But it is the right investment and I fully support us doing it. But there are lots of districts that wouldn't
057split that class. >> Sure. That is the right move. And I think a lot of it, and again, I've had this conversation with teachers that it's not fair to a teacher to continually move them grade level, grade level to jump around, right? So we so we have to look at that eb and flow of might seem like it's a little bit excessive one year, but the next year it's going to be needed. It's not fair to a teacher to say, "Hey, this year you're going to be teaching kindergarten, next year you're going to be teach third grade, the next year you're going to go back." Everybody wants the same, but when you have these class fluctuations in sizes, like >> sure, >> you have to >> Yeah, there's going to be have to be some
058movement. You're not wrong. So, but I think if it can if you can stay with the intermediate grades, the third, fourth, fifth, it's a little bit easier. Um, >> well, you hope by when the first graders become fourth graders, if that's still an 18 class and they moved up a tier, you could do that with one. So, I mean, it's it's not necessarily that you you keep that size. It's right. You hope you're progressing, investing earlier grades to >> Yeah. >> get that back later. A >> and I I also did have the conversation with Miss Keller, too, that you know, it's my philosophy is sometimes no hire is better than a bad hire, too. And so, it kind of depends on what applicants we have. >> So, [clears throat] there's that. The other >>
059experience. >> So, a lot kind of depends on what you get. You said 13 three year olds though. >> 14 three year olds >> and 18 four year olds probably. >> And did we have more? Did we had to apply to the state to even be able to have that many in our prek this year? >> Yeah, we got >> So there there might have even been more that wanted in that couldn't get in because of our numbers. We had to get permission to have >> we we accept all ones that apply. There's there's some districts that it's only the kids that are at risk that that are >> and we applied for a waiver to be able to increase that >> to have a number over three. >> Yes. >> Which only get funded
060for the record which only get funded half though. >> Correct. >> And that's a foury old >> foury olds at risk. Only at risk foury olds. >> We get at risk three-year-old but only half >> right. But only the at risk. >> Yeah. Yeah. We did. and we can we pretty much make risks >> there there's a lot of CL of criteria that >> I'm just it's an investment we don't talk about enough that we we're not by means required to make that investment and expand that we're not being reimbursed for those kids but it's the right investment to make all the way. >> Sure. >> Okay. Well, but in all your free time, look through that and add more questions through Miss Color. Um, you can see her recommendations in there. But based on
061that, kindergarten through fifth from what we currently have to what she has put in a recommendation was additional two staff members. >> All right. Uh, the updated inclement weather policy. Yeah, you guys asked me after last meeting to kind of put together sample language. So, I' I've got that there for you. Basically, it's just more explicit that there was a little bit of ambiguity on time and a half or what all that meant. So, this basically says that everyone gets that eight hours paid leave and then any of those that are deemed essential will get the regular hourly rate plus the eight. So, they're basically getting >> double paid if they're working. only if they're asked specifically to come in to do it. I like that part, too. >> All right. Those that are deemed
062essential. >> I like to >> Okay, >> I move to accept >> questions. >> Just love the weather related reasons. That is still broader. >> Oh, yeah. >> But it's just it's the best we got today. >> You'll get that again started in May. Lots >> of I'll check it. Okay. Um, move and second. I don't know if we want to wait for Kenny to get back, but uh, I guess we'll take a vote. All those in >> favor 6. [clears throat] Okay. Um, facilities. Yeah, just kind of a update on some some other parts of it. We've got well our a shop has got a lot a lot going on right now. We've got some got a metal vendor that that was purchased to help them out in there and um Mr. >> MS
063has done a really good job of helping us out from couple days that he's in there. Um the fire marshall came also and new this year they have to walk into every building or structure that the district owns not just instructional. So um >> I had to hide my eater >> there is so the stage at the old gym at the old high school we have to get sheetrock up there. There can't be any exposed lathe up L up there. So, we've got to get that done. All the bus barn that all has to be the ceilings have to be um sheetrocked as well. And so that needed to be done anyway. >> Yes. And I'm sure it's going to help my list of things that need to be maintained. >> There was a lot
064of your typical stuff wasn't a big deal. Um the door that goes from the classroom to the shop had a latch and technically it's a fire door and shouldn't. So we've got plugs for that as well. So Allan has done a really good job at we've we got some estimates for the um sheetrock >> that's 16 grand. >> Yeah. To do all the stuff at the in the stage area. Um, also there was lights up there that weren't working that so we got those taken down and there was a recommendation of fire marshall to get rid of the curtains there as well. Um, and so those have come down. It looks a little bit different, but we'll have all the sheetrock and all that stuff done. We're supposed to have it done in 90 days.
065I don't know if it'll get done, but we'll be able to send updates to the fire marshall to let them know that we got all that addressed. >> We've got a plan. They should. Yeah. and they were late, so they came right during all the Christmas lights plugged in everywhere and they didn't say a word about it. >> But that's justifiable because most of them say 30-day usage and so in the middle of the Christmas season you get away with it. [laughter] >> Um, also I'm I'll knock on wood here, but this Saturday we're hosting a youth basketball tournament like we always do if you remember right this last summer >> doesn't back up. this this past summer we've replaced all that that sewer line and so I'm hoping that we don't have any issues
066>> because the last couple years we've had >> unwelcome moisture on the surface um >> put that that's a good way to put that right >> um so I'm hope hoping that we don't have any issues there on that so >> that'll be the test >> it it will be because that gets used and abused on that weekend so just a couple updates on other facilities stuff um that we've we've kind of got around the area of the district. So, >> okay, we'll move on to the bond. >> Yeah, I guess first thing is I put I asked SPT to kind to to me it's not a campaign schedule. To me, it's about information disseminating schedule, but kind of I want your guys' input to look at this and I want to send us what
067we feel like we need or what we would like to do and send it back to them and and get more information. So, um I firmly believe, well, my thought is all their information is EDM, so it goes in every mailbox. Um and we get information out also with the bond. While we're talking about it, I put in what they have the drawings for the um u entrances at both buildings. Um, and I, you know, I think it'd be valuable that for me to just kind of record a video that we could put out on the Facebook and the website, anything else just kind of explaining what that means, the traffic [clears throat] flow aspect of it, um, for both of the buildings, but I present those to you guys to look at. And if
068you have questions about the entrances, um, and kind of what it entails, um, let me know and then we'll get to the calendar. And we did send out the survey that's active right now. Correct. >> That's on the next the superintendent. This is what's up. >> Oh, that's on your right. >> I don't know if you ball games on Saturday at Belleville. But they I mean that that's a very good example of what that entry. >> Yeah. Their entryway. You you were there. Yeah. You guys were there. Yeah. You looked like how that's done. It's like >> that's a that was a good example. And again, I think we we need to do a better job of informing the public, but it's not a this isn't about just pre preventing an active shooter. There's so
069much more involved in this. It's it's the traffic flow of I'll be honest and Mr. Myers can probably echo this, but the office is crazy busy and if you, you know, someone comes and rings the doorbell, you buzz them in, then you forget or we're just assuming in a that they're going to make their trip across the common to the office to check in where they could go anywhere else. um technically within the building they have access to that where in both of these situations same thing at the elementary you come in the first set of doors the vestibule then you get come into the office you don't have access to the regular building without being granted that access from the office um the two layers of doors at dismissal or um arrival time those
070can both be open so that doesn't um affect traffic flow coming into after But outside of that, it's everybody goes through the office. So, but I open all that up for discussion and I'll make notes whatever we need to on the calendar as well, but we can start wherever you guys want to start. >> Where do you want to start, Brendon? >> That nothing. It's only Facebook and the website until February 16th. [clears throat] >> Didn't we already put that out in the paper though? >> We We did. And there is some information on the website. >> Yeah. >> Um >> I'd like to get if it again these aren't, for lack of better word, set in stone completely, but I'd like to see the these renditions put out everywhere, too, so that people understand
071what we mean by a secure entrance. >> Yeah. >> Um and not just talk about it, but let them visually see. >> Yeah. I don't had a great deal of frustration the last time around with the schedule the way the information was released and the waiting and waiting and waiting and I not we're not doing that again. >> Sure. >> Um I want information going out want it going out as soon as possible and that's that's why we made that choice to put some things in the paper after last board meeting. Um, but yeah, I I don't >> Can we move that mailer closer to when it goes out on Facebook? >> Yeah. Well, not only that, but I've got a lot of questions about what what that looks what is the mailer I mean,
072we need to be having a discussion with SPT on not only the timeline, but what is this stuff? Because is is this another big expensive mailer like the one they wanted to do last time that we had to say no, we're not spending that kind of money on some big fancy, you know what I mean? like these are discussions that that need to be had directly with them. What what is this information? What is the format? When is it coming out? What's it going to have on it? And we're not going to wait till 3 weeks before the election to get that stuff out. That's that's my two cents worth. >> Sure. Well, I I'd like for you guys all to just Yes. They're going to they need to have a big part in this
073too. But I want I would like to get input from you guys on say this is what we want to do. This is kind of what we're thinking so that we can get stuff out when we feel it's necessary. >> Well, just to I don't know if we ever talked about all this, but what we learned was that other districts do that have done bonds, they do a ma a mail goes to every person. You can target that in the district. We can you know mailing lists. Um, that's easy to do. The issue we run into with mail is timing. Uh, a to produce it um that then has to go to Witchah then come back um to do a typical first class whatever mailing that we have to do. What we learned was by
074doing a direct mail process where basically we just pick all the zip codes in Juel County, we can uh drop it. It takes a little more work on the district's end, but we can drop it off at each post office and it goes there that day. So, we're not >> really It's really not difficult. >> Yeah, it's not it's not difficult. We don't have to you don't want have to wait five days to turn around. Um, >> and it ensures that every mailbox. Now, there will be some voters that don't people in Juel County that do not >> vote for our district >> that are not that are not register don't live within our district lines. There's a few townships and a few things, but it's pretty insignificant compared to the huge savings. >> Well,
075when it goes out that day, everybody gets the same. >> Everybody's getting it. So, that's >> exact same day. >> And this is this calendar is still set up to do everything by mail. And as a district, I think that's like I would move that big mailer finalization up to the 21st. We know the paper deadlines the 27th. So, >> you can still do it this way. Just move them up a little too if you don't want. But the design get the design done. >> Yeah. And they they still have and this guess doesn't make sense in my mind that you got February 10th deadline register to vote. February 11th advanced voting begins before we've sent any information out. People have two days to go vote. >> Yeah. Why Why would you not get information
076out to people before they can start advanced voting? >> They already sent us even a sample of what the first one's going to be next week. That's just next week. No, I I told them this is all going to change. I want to get input from you guys and we'll say this is when we think things need to come out. >> We just know to do EDMs and the paper it's, you know, we had a noon Tuesday deadline, preferably Monday. Uh, you know, we have everything ready. So, which would really be nice to have it done Friday. So, >> so I was gonna say it this week. So, a rough draft of the mailor would be nice by I'll give them leeway till Monday. Okay. Can Can we get it done by the 19th? At
077least a rough draft that we then finalize to get to the paper by the 23rd, 26th at the latest. >> I seem it on the 27th >> with Becky. >> Yeah, >> that worked out really well. And plus they put them in the 50 stacks which was very helpful because otherwise it would have been a lot more work again need a handle. >> Well the FAQ Yeah. I think that makes sense. The big mailer if they're talking a big piece that we have the that jewel county record prints again then let's I'm fine doing that again. That that worked. Uh no. Uh >> it printed twice. >> The folding process was a lot. Yes, we still have a lot of those little stickers though. >> The bailers were great. >> Can they just do them
078on an eight and a half by 11 to start with? Like that's just such an easy >> I know that's >> like if everything they produce could be 8 and 1 half and 11 and not >> no cutting that >> 147 or whatever. Well, I I would argue yes. And if that means more would come out, it's >> totally agree. It just makes it so much easier and cheaper to distribute >> versus and I would argue for everybody that that's getting all that that that paper it resembled a regular newspaper, but that was a lot. It >> was a lot. I totally agree. So that would be my request is everything being an eight and a half and 11 and we do more of them. If we have to do another mailing because the the
079EDM's so cheap for the entire county >> Yeah. >> for the mailing part of it >> and if they don't have to print and cut that saves on the I mean if they don't have to cut if they we can do 8 by1 that saves a lot on producing them too. We can print all that in county without having to take it somewhere else and get it printed. And >> I mean a by 11 we can print some of that. We can print some of that here too. Yeah. So >> I was gonna say yeah. >> But they don't charge us a whole lot. So I mean I would kind of look at maybe the cost of us for a two-sided color print versus what they charge is, you know, on our on our for
080our contract. It might not be a hole. >> I'll follow up tomorrow with a rough draft to the big mailer all by 11, but I'm going to ask him for Friday just because that gives me an extra day to get the information. Um, I was thinking we could have got if we if they start pushing back against 8 and a half and 11. I was thinking we could do an EDDDM of fold it in half. Have you had to just fold it in half? Can we fold that card stock though? >> I don't know. They should. >> I think we have to do I think those have to be flat. I think we can fold the papers and they gave us fold and not four. That would be a reasonable >> if it's folded there
081has to it has to meet a certain thickness and they know all the EDM requirements. They we met the thickness requirements. >> Okay. So, let's start then. rough draft. You said Monday. I'm going to say 16th and then if it comes Monday, I'm going to give us a little buffer there. And then we also put that in the paper on the get in touch with Bill on the 20th. Is that when we want the same EDM? It goes in the paper same time. >> And really, we should push EDM back to to Wednesday. I mean, the paper comes out on Wednesday. Do we think that if we get it on Friday or Monday that quick turn around and go on the 20th or do we want to start on the 27th? >> Any else? Any
082thoughts? >> We can start getting it in next week. That'd be great. >> I know a lot of people that still complaints I hear is that we did not get the information out. What do we do with all this time that we could have been getting information out? and find it there. Again, >> if we want something to go out, even if it's even in the newspaper, I don't know why we could I could put up with some write up and put these >> the renditions in the newspaper. >> Nothing stopping us from doing some of our own small newspaper work just so it stays in front of somebody about every week, >> you know? I mean, even if it's a little blurb, a big blur, whatever, however you want to do it, at least
083we can say we're telling people to be paying attention. Watch your mailbox. >> Yeah. >> Stay tuned for more information. All those things. >> Well, the first thing we sent last time was a community meeting. That was the first piece we s with the referencing the website. >> Keep spitting information. I'll start writing it down. I think if we're not ready for the McMiller to be finalized, we can do a write up with a little explanation about secure entrances and put these pictures out there if you want something to come out and we're not ready for that first. I think we need some very specific bullet points on the safe and secure how it's different than what we have because I think if you talk to normal community members they think we already have safe
084and secure entrance. So how's it going to be different? >> Sure. No, that's valid. Um because we got a lot of that was thinking it was doors and it's much more than doors. So yeah. Um, and I think Justin was a you that even mentioned um >> a new name. >> Come up with a different name besides secure entrances just because um but you're right. We got to find a way to I hate to use the word market because that's not the right word. But it is I mean if you the normal person isn't going to study this and decide put some bullet points bold. How's this going to be different than what we have? Um, >> but you could do a full page in the paper with the drawings and explanation of it and
085we can throw it on Facebook. Everybody go buy a newspaper this week because good explanation in there. directive to the I hate direct website, but between I think there's more people that are on Facebook than we realize that I'll work on bullet points and all that stuff tomorrow. Well, the thing the thing with the website piece of it is that it's always there. It's not the most effective way of getting information out to people, but if people want to go find something, they don't have to go look around on Facebook. They don't have to go dig through their pile of last week's mail. It's the website is always >> it's the consistent >> it's always there. So you got to you you still have to use that piece. >> It's also why you have to
086do the paper or you have to do mail. >> Sure. >> But I would agree that EDM Yes, there's going to be some people that get it that that aren't I want to say allowed that aren't able to vote, but that ensures that everybody's getting the information. We're not excluding anybody. >> But does that also include people that are able to vote that are outside of the Jewel County area? >> You can't vote if you don't live district >> that you can you can own half the county and live in >> next county and you can't several times. >> Yeah. Randall Randall can't vote south of Jupit right over on the other side of Weber. >> A couple little spots in down by >> we know we have to print 1500 pieces and it goes
087to 95%. It goes 100% of our voters. >> If we send it specifically only to people who can vote, it will cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars. This way it cost us 150 and a few extra people get it. cost 10 cents roughly roughly 10 cents to do it for each one or if we go by first class that's >> yeah so >> it's extra work putting labels on it with addresses you have to >> query those out >> I guess my next question is do we do we go with newspaper bailers and social media do we need to have a central community meeting at at the school. Do we need to have I you guys tell me what you think is going to be most valuable? >> I put a lot of negativity
088on the secure entrances because people don't know what they are. I was trying to explain to somebody the other day, it's not like what came out with the first bond election because we can't use classroom space or existing space. We have to build on for this. So, I think there's a lot of confusion over what the the golfers were discussing and why why are we even looking at this? You know, it didn't pass the first time. Well, it's different. And like Natalie said, that would if people come to the meeting, that'd be one way to bullet some things out, really point out what it is and how it works. some people want to ask questions last but I don't know when the right timing of that is but >> I would argue that co park
089though that with everything I think the sooner the better >> and the fr the other frustration was not not only was is it a long pause before information comes out but then when the it was time for the information to come out I felt like we were scrambling with them to get the information in the right format and get it proof read. And it's like >> we we had all that time and still we're 11th hour trying to get stuff >> correct and put you know it's like can we we not just work on stuff a little bit ahead of time >> and honestly I would think they should have some pretty good ideas ready to go already knowing that this is coming up. Now some of their ideas were expensive and we did not
090want to spend that kind of money for saying well so I will work on bullet points and to go with the secure entrance part. I also ask them to have a rough draft of the first mailer by Friday the 16th, knowing that we may not get it in next week's paper, but we can at least get the renditions and the bullet points and all that stuff, right? >> We for sure want something in the last week of January. >> Well, I'm thinking I think the EDM comes out the 27th. We get >> late 27th 28th. But if we get something in the newspaper, if that's not I don't I don't want to throw something together and it not be what we want to try to make next week work. We can use the the renditions
091and bullet points >> for next week and that gives us a little more time to make sure we have exactly what we want for that first mailer on the 27th. Keep in mind the week of the 27th we are probably going to be doing superintendent interviews which is going to take all day on those days which is going to make it a little bit harder with uh one person trying to get all these mailed out. So >> block the first week of February for superintendent. >> Yes. I thought tonight >> Well, I thought he said we could start the you know they we could start that week because the ball games we might have to do a couple one week and then the next week. So they'll meet back and forth sometime that week to
092go finally. So >> I think February. >> Yeah, I think. So, is a community meeting something we need to try to get in that last week or first week of February or do we want to I I don't have a problem putting together videos, little shorter videos, try to get it out. I You guys tell me what you you think we need to do. >> Thanks for bringing tonight, >> Mark. They just care that they're signed. care as long as there's something on that line. >> What? >> They might might not. Yeah. >> I just don't think people are going to come to meetings. >> I'm not sure there's a lot of value in it myself. That's what I said before. I'm not sure we need to do that again. I think I mean we
093presented what we presented >> that you know the HVAC is the same. >> Yeah. um you know the the secure entrance piece I think that's the one we need to spend a little time getting some information out there but having that in a community meeting format I don't know if there's as much value in that as there is just simply trying to get that information out >> in the paper in the mailboxes you know something people can read and look at and >> I agree >> well that was my thought and I don't I didn't want to sound like yeah >> we need to be more efficient with our time and our information that we disseminate And I I think videos explaining it are just as valuable and people can sit at home and get
094that information versus giving up an evening. >> It might even be valuable in taking a video of another school that has this that setup and say this is you know what if you [clears throat] can go ask him if you can go video there and say this is what what we're trying to do. >> Yeah. >> Here this is how it's different than what we have right now. >> That's that's a good point too. You brought up Belvad. I don't know who if if it was Mrs. Scher or someone shortly after they I think they were down in Lincoln or somewhere she said now I understand what it means. I thought I had conversations with staff about it. So I did a poor job of explaining that we did. So well that there's other but
095I mean just [clears throat] in the sheriff department has it now essentially. Yeah, but >> a condensed version, >> but I think going apples to apples is going to be more beneficial. >> Just keep your ears open. And I I agree there's not a lot of value in going and having all these meetings and doing all that stuff, but there will be a segment of the population maybe expect one. So if we start to hear those rumbling rumblings, we might kind of I mean I thought I kind of thought just one meeting in Mano publicize the heck out of it if we thought one was necessary. Scale it way back as far as any kind of public meeting and I'm fully on board with just doing other formats and pushing it out there. So >>
096yeah, I I struggle because I understand that. But then if you're just going to talk about the secure entrances part and go a quick overview of HVAC, you're talking about a 15minute meeting. Is it going to be worked? I I don't Yeah, I don't know that drive in >> whatever we do take long 15 minutes if they >> prepared for that. It's just part of it. >> I do think I agree, Kate. I'm fighting on schedule at the moment, but be prepared to pivot if there's an outcry for it. And I'm I'm fine either way. So, our first EDM is going to come out in 27. Do we want to try to identify what we think is important or do we want to put that ball in their court and then be reactive? >> Well,
097I'm curious because we've restructured the bond, how you do the mailing different because it's now an AB bond and if that affects how you communicate it. And I don't I I I I because there it needs to be very clearly explained that you can't just vote for one or the other. It's not because the remember the ballot's not going to say that. >> Yeah. >> Well, >> it's going to be you ha you A has to pass if you want to also pass B. You can't just pick well I don't want to do the VVAC. I just want to do secure entrances. >> That's not an option. But the ballot's not going to read that way. So there's an there's a piece in this that we didn't have before and that and how you structure
098that mailing and the communication about it has to be consistent from the time from the second it comes out the door >> right because the information we got both from Micah and from Piper said the back the back the information on the back side says yes that's way it is but it's not going to be you go dig through all that all of that that's on the website you'll see that. But >> it's it says it in the resolution how we want it. >> Yes. But but on the ballot >> and they stated that we have to inform the public of that. So >> I'm just saying that's a big piece that could change how the layout and how the structure of that I mean I don't I'm all on board with better def we
099still need to make the case for the HVAC. I there needs we can't just ignore the fact that it's a that's a pressing issue but they the the time needs spent on or the column inches needs spent on ensuring that the public can understand what this means beyond just doors. >> Yeah. I worry about voter turnout the other direction and just >> because we're in a non >> Yeah. and just people are tired of being beat over the head with it and oh well everybody you know the sentiment out there was well just take out all that other stuff and yeah we would patch the HVAC and so I I just concerned with voter turnout dropping and when that might have been a good thing for us the the first goound the second goound if
100there's just some lethargy out there with voters just not show oh the page will pass I'm not going to bother going I think it's still important that we get >> drive that voter naysayers will show up. >> That's just my take. >> Yeah, that's my worry about >> I mean I I just people not voting that would maybe vote for vote for it because they're just done process. Oh, this one will pass. I'm not that fired up about it. You know, when we want them to get there, we want the secure entrances, etc. Just keep pushing information. So, is our goal to have something in the newspaper every week and EDM every other week or like what I I know it's probably getting in the weeds, but I'd like to have more of a full
101robust plan between now and March and not making up on the fly as we go. >> I would at least say have something big in the paper like every other week and then on like an off week just have like a small >> You only have four weeks. I understand that. So like your first week like the 27th there, you know, have a big >> half page, whatever in there, full page, you know, have this laid out in bullet points. Second week, you know, just it's just kind of a reminder, hey, bullet points are these are what we're doing. and then maybe lay out a little bit in the third week of so now we have our bullet points in these and this is the way we'd like to have the the way the bond
102is structured for the ballot >> the recommendation is do thatformational piece and then at least two weeks of FAQs just what are the what are you hearing in the community what are the questions that gets that's what you focus on then um and that kind of that's what we like you have that additional kind just put it out there and then the questions come in and then you're like, "Okay, this is what we need to address." >> Speaking of FAQs, did when we set up the the answering machine and the emails, did you get anything out of that besides questions that were already asked or >> I got two emails and one voicemail. >> Okay. No. And that's got to have it, >> right? I didn't want to not present that as an option, >>
103but maybe that's still put out there, you know, especially if we're not going to hold, you know, like meetings aren't going to be really beneficial because it takes 20 minutes to get into town for a 15minute presentation. I mean, still emphasize that where if they still have questions, you know, because what are we going to get besides hearing a few things here and a few things there to put it into an FAQ and we have a postcard? >> That's the the thing is we've already got mostly probably have already been asked most of the questions. I mean, we've already got we've already got the frequently asked questions. as say a lot of them you just re filter them out the ones that don't apply anymore >> because there was >> I think there's still value
104in putting those back out again obviously we need to we need to add a few more things that there needs to be some questions in regard to the ballot language and there needs to be some in regards to the the change in the secure entry piece what that looks like now those need to be emphasized I like something in the paper every week. >> Well, there were things in the paper last >> around and complain of giving them too much information. So well if we do if we can get the big balor I'm just going to the EDM for the week of according to this calendar the five weeks the the 25th through the 31st that the EDM can also be the same thing in the paper. I mean is that I know may seem
105a little bit redundant but >> well not not everybody takes the weekly life. So >> um and then we can do just a paper on the third and then an another EDDDM which maybe is just an FAQ on the 10th. Do we want to I mean they were kind of thinking is double up EDM and newspaper one week and the next week it's just the newspaper back and forth and gives you some flexibility on the 17th 18th to what you know calling audible if there's something needed that you're not sure what the message looks like what the concerns are brought forward >> and then if we get the feedback back from the committee. We need to have a meeting. I I don't know. You guys tell me what poll she got. Is it better to
106do that midFebruary or is it better to do that the last week in February? >> Ideally, you do it before voting starts. That's ideally, which is the 10th. If you're going to do me, >> we're just waiting. We may just be very reactive and if we get that >> I'm not saying you have to do it before then. I'm just saying I um >> I think you want to. I think that was some of the feedback with some of those meetings and the other towns didn't start till after advanced voting had already opened. >> Well, don't don't shoot me for saying this, but since the 9th of February, that is a board meeting and that it is a one:00 meeting, but get get something out there going. We have a meeting at 1:00. you know,
107if you want to hear or bring anything in. >> No, I will shoot you. >> That's fine. You know, just, you know, >> bullets and messenger, but I I'm just thinking like instead of hosting a meeting, you know, separately, >> bring them in so they a little bit discussion. >> I know. >> And if we think here there's going to be a lot, we can move it to >> little theater. But we got there's one >> got [clears throat] time to do that music or clinic. >> Yeah, we have band clinic that night. >> Oh, is there >> the thing? >> Yeah, >> there's also the elementary >> that last board meeting. I mean, >> we got a lot of people in here. >> Yeah, that last board meeting should be for like if they
108want to provide input or I don't I I struggle to have full presentation at at a regular board meeting. I don't think I don't think it's going to be efficient. [clears throat] >> Rather it be structured around here's the information ask questions and keep all the other board stuff. >> So here's another question if we're going to do paper and then EDM back and forth. I I think in looking at other districts too having little short videos that come out from time to time. I don't mind doing it, but if you want to find another staff member, other community members, but I think identifying a day that's not tied to those where you do some of those would be whether it's you put out on Fridays or Mondays or whatever that hey, a new video
109is going to come out each week and it might just be addressing two FAQs. It might be >> that would [clears throat] be a good way to explain the entrances, >> but >> easier to understand than having to do it in writing. >> But even if it's, hey, every Friday we're going to have a little five minute video with bond information, whatever it might be. So that we can advertise that at the very beginning too that hey, look for videos every whatever date. I don't know why Friday keeps coming to my mind, but it's a couple days separated from the mail stuff, but >> there's a I see there's a text message campaign on here. >> I see that like right before. >> I'm just curious what that looks like and if and if if
110uh I know that's like right before the election, but these videos and things and websites a lot of times you get a text message with a link in it, promotional text message. like that would be a way to maybe get people pick up their phone, boom, one link and they're at our website with the tax. >> Is there any need to do that earlier? What [clears throat] >> what you're suggesting I guess I mean that's just a question for them and I'm assuming SPT is managing >> I mean not the text message campaign. Are you you're just talking about that's just the kids committee? >> Yeah, that's just that's just whoever supports. >> Okay. >> Or that's just whoever wants to send the information disseminates it to whoever they know. >> Now there is that
111question. >> Yeah. Because we don't we do not have the cell phone numbers to be able to do that like as a managed system. [clears throat] >> Now I will tell you it is doable but it's a whole another process. But I don't want any we have swift reach but that's just our students and parents. >> Yes. >> The biggest thing we have is Sam's email. >> Yeah. >> You know, but again >> that he sends to all the patrons, >> our community members that have chosen to sign up for it, not right everybody. >> And the last time there was stuff and a lot of the Baroque people were really unhappy that there majority of them didn't even know about uh one of the last things we did. They hadn't even survey. They didn't
112they didn't hear about the survey and they were kind of unhappy about that and then we put it out at everywhere we could put it out and it still didn't reach everybody. thing. I don't I think doing a even if it's something once a week, I think getting another video or two out is probably just keep it in front of their face. >> Maybe that's a what baby thinks best Friday and Monday. If newspaper comes to the mailboxes on Thursdays, they'll be able to pick up on Wednesday. EDM typically we send out on Wednesday >> so we could do it. Would it be a Monday, Tuesday be better or end of the week be better? >> Let's say like a Monday because if people see it on a Monday, they're liable to talk about it
113whether they're at work or amongst other people's and you know maybe catching a ball game on a Tuesday or something. I don't know. versus >> that's probably right. >> Not talking to anybody about it over the weekend. I I don't have a problem with that. >> Hey, and I can go we can do Facebook live during the meeting. [laughter] >> There you go. Let's do that. >> No, I I'll work on kind of putting up together a plan of what we can address each each Monday. But I I think the first one would be taking a couple high points of those bullets for the secure entrances and the first one. Um, and one of them could even be explaining the the election and how a in order for B to pass a you mean you
114vote yes for one before you vote on the second one. Anyway, I'll work on a video plan. The EDM on the 27th is going to be a lot of information and then is the next around the 10th going to be all FAQs? Is that kind of a plan? There's got to wait. >> That's what that is what their campaign suggests. I mean, I I don't know what else to suggest. It kind of dep It really is going to fall on what they're willing to adapt the mailer be. I I really feel like last time their process was a big mailer that had a ton of information on it, way too much. Um, and they're pretty adamant about that. So, it will be come down, I think it's going to come down to will they break
115that down or or or are we stuck with that one big thing or will we have we're going have to do two smaller pieces to make it everything they want to put on? I don't know the answer to that. I just know how >> from their perspective, I don't either. But I think I think everybody's right though that a lot of the feedback was we didn't get a lot of information. There was dead time and information. So it's more important if it's >> I don't want to say minimal but less each time but more periodic is going to be more >> valuable. Okay. Well, I'll reach out to them on that tomorrow too about this is kind of what we would like to do. Um, we'd like it all to be 8 and 1 half
116by 11. Correct. Just easy and manageable that we can print locally and that's again I I don't know nothing we did on that last mailer that we couldn't have done eight and a half but [clears throat] there was reasons for lots of things. voting location when you start adding all the things on like voting locations and and we had what six community meetings and all the other it there was a lot of there's a lot of stuff in it um that have a big rendering >> and it shows they know where to go to vote so we don't have to tell them that again. >> Yeah. So I'm just saying it depends on how much flexibility they're going to give you in design for us in design. Okay. Well, I to me that makes a
117lot more sense and you guys know the community a lot better than they do and a lot better than I do. So that input's going to be valuable. So I will send my recommendations to them. Well, I'll ask them about EDM. >> This says we can do an 11 by 14 EDM, which I just it just folds >> folds the other direction. >> Yeah. Hammer. If you can get them to compromise that. >> If we did that though, we probably could do that. We wouldn't have to do it on card stock. I would because just like we were able to do the newspaper as long as overall it weighed >> the number still worked. Maybe we can still get that printed within 60 miles. I would hope >> we can print 14 here. Let's >>
118put it out on all of our copers. Get them all working. Okay, >> we need about six 600 I think. Is that right, >> Bren? I have to try to remember that number again. Five to 550. >> It was like,00. >> Oh, it was,00. You're right. See, I'm half. >> It was five. >> Yeah, you're right. It was 11 11 or 1200. No more than that. You're thinking other because we had to cut it in half. >> But if we're going to do a big one, I'm going to need to order um the right paper to do it. Get that ordered in here. >> Okay. Well, I'll try to get a input from them and and I will for next week really focus on the rendition, some bullet points, and I can send those to
119you guys. Um input before we're ready to roll next week on that. I'll try to get that at the beginning of the week. plan on EDM the week of the 25th and the February 8th and then newspaper separately on the opposite ones that I'll start if we're not going to put this stuff the entrance stuff into the newspaper next week I can try to get I can try to get out by Monday the 19th a little video so the video beats the mailer maybe Yeah, I'll get you on that. Thank you. >> Okay, we will move on. Um, the last discussion item is superintendent search. Had that I put that on there. There are several things that I want to just kind of clarify with everyone in that process. One of them is and I
120this is actually a question for Janet. She was on the email um regarding the survey. [clears throat] Did you get that? Have you got you got the email from Laura? It says, "Did you see the email from Lindsay with the survey link?" >> Yes, we got it. We sent it out. >> That's out. Okay. I wanted to confirm that that >> on Facebook. It's on our website >> and it's going it's going in the newspaper this week and next week. Put it in for both. >> Okay. Second thing is um we talked about last time with Lori uh whether we want to have her do the focus groups with staff to get their input. Um I haven't I haven't reached out on that. I've kind of been kicking that around in my head and I
121think probably [clears throat] the right answer is yes. We probably should offer that because if you go, you know, if you survey staff and say, "Would you like to have an opportunity for a focus group to give characteristics you'd like to see in the next superintendent?" Even if you have like one or two people that say yes and the rest of them say no, why wouldn't you provide that opportunity? I mean, we're paying for the service either way. So, I that's my recommendation is that we let Lori know to go ahead and >> do it. >> Set those up. Is that you may have any concern? I don't know why you wouldn't offer it's it's part of their >> package. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And the last thing is uh she had asked
122excuse [clears throat] me uh what date the week of the 19th works best to finalize the characteristics the board is seeking. It will take no more gosh take no more than 90 minutes to go through that process. Uh, she says, "I'm scheduled to currently scheduled to do a foundation of boardsmanship training in your district on the 24th," which we're all, I think, planning on going to. Um, we could >> Saturday. >> Yes. >> Uh, we could meet that afternoon after two if you would like to give up a Saturday and save some mileage or I can be there Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings that week. So, >> can we do it at 8 and condense it? >> I was [laughter] going to say, can we do it at 4? already have a basketball game after
123you were >> I'm out of town that weekends about anything assuming >> I'm assuming >> I'm coming to boardsmanship in the morning and then uh is there any way she can ask anybody >> what time is she coming I mean that's a three-hour drive for her >> even if she like even if not >> if she's coming from it's three hour drive >> same we're already going to be coming in for that uh foundation at 2 o'clock. I I won't >> Well, it's 2 o'clock after you've been after we've already been there since 9 in the morning. >> And I'm I'm >> But she offer she also offered to come in and if you want to do an evening >> might be better then >> um evenings of >> putting a lot of stuff in
124one day and >> Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings that week. >> We have we will have a basketball tournament Monday. I don't know the times yet. And I'm gone Tuesday in Topek. So those two nights are out for me. does I'm confident y'all can explain the skill sets that we need the next superintendent very well without me though. So I say 8 a.m. 71 I'm open to input and how how how critical is it in the first place? I mean that that's we just we just gathered all that information >> very similar to the last time >> two years ago >> you like to just share that with her and say well they're probably looking for the same things. >> Well that's my thought that's why like it can does it need to take a
125full hour and a half because that was a >> it really hasn't changed in the last four we've done. No, really. >> No, we're really I mean the board members have changed, but what we're asking for really hasn't. I mean, >> it really hasn't. I mean, we've changed board members along the way. >> I don't I don't want to poo poo the process and the value to it, but we've all most of us have been through it a lot and it's it's just a lot of redundancy. >> Yep. Same old same. >> And a lot of common sense and logic. >> I don't want to take away the opportunity for our new board member to be part of that process. >> Can't we just give her I think >> which is about it's gonna be
126>> it is. >> Yeah. >> It is. >> It's gonna be the same. Yeah. So, >> and that was that that saves the step and then she can start moving on to the next >> communicate with her and kind of share those thoughts and see how that is received. And if if she wants she wants us to give her some guidelines, then I'm sure we can assume we still have that information from the last goound or two. You I'm sure you do. Well, and and they they should have it, too. They had everything as well. >> And if it was if we had still working with Gary, I mean, >> Lindsay Lindsay, the gal I'm working with, she also was here when uh we hired Jeff. So, she has all of the stuff from that.
127>> They have they said we do we have applicants at this point yet? >> Two. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> For sure. >> There's interest reached out to me. Um, and I had a great conversation with him and so I'm sure he'll be submitting his application. >> He was better than zero. >> Yeah, that was submitted and some were coming in more than likely. >> That would be a third for sure. >> Had a great conversation. Okay, I'll I'll contact her on that last thing. I I don't know that I had anything else on under that. >> Uh, you asked me to put it on from the last meeting, the salary schedule. Yeah, it and I don't know if that needs to be a point of discussion tonight, but obviously as a board we'll need
128to decide where we're going to >> be as far as contract, salary, benefits. >> Um >> I don't always had like what we were paying. >> Yeah. >> Is that something they will do? >> They have that information now. I gave it I had to give it to them >> on the deal no matter what. >> No, because I was concerned about that and that's what I told her. I said, "Well, I don't know that I want to give you numbers if you're going to." She said, "No, this is strictly for KSB for the search. They are not putting it out on any of the information that is going to >> range based on experience, but I would hate to just >> that's kind of what I said is I don't want to give a
129dollar website. Look up the salary, >> but they should but they should also >> tell you what is not current. >> They should also be sharing information about >> league and other comparable >> KSD should provide all that." >> And I don't like to keep that one very current. So, >> I just wanted to kind of put that on your radar, too. It's obviously we don't have to decide all it's all that's all negotiable anyway in the in the in the moment, but >> just to be kind of thinking about that >> somewhat creative with this contract and there may be some things that we want to re >> should we look at it. >> I would I would suggest that maybe >> a sample gets put out there that we might want to address.
130>> Any other thoughts on that? Okay, that's all I have on that. Move on action items. Fleet purchase. I got some [clears throat] update information for you guys. I put in the the drive when I reached out to both of them. Um, wanted kind of a spec sheet for the Suburban. So, that's in there. Um, again, the number that they gave for that was 62,317. Um and then um from the expedition side of things, the one that they quoted us at was an XLT carpeted floors and all that other and I kind of asked them another option. It's just carpeted floors isn't exactly ideal for as much as traffic as we get. So the new updated one is vinyl floors but has everything else. It does I think you said that they don't the back
131seats don't have their own independent um seat belt >> heating and cooling options, but outside of that, that's basically the only difference. >> Seat belt locker system. >> And then what did we find out on the Chevy? Because we weren't sure. We had no detail on the Chevy. What was added to that? Anything specific that was pertinent? >> It there was nothing specific to seat belt monitoring on that spec sheet. Um, it has some Atlanta assist. Uh, >> and what did you say? Is it that top number, the MSRP or what where's the actual cost of the ship? >> 62317. >> It's not on there. >> I didn't see it. That's why I asked. >> So, basically what looking at them last month, the the Suburban was fairly significantly cheaper. Um, but after after he
132contacted the Ford dealership, they actually come in a little bit under the price. >> Exactly. >> After going to a little bit different model, they're both comparable. Obviously, the we know that the Ford has the seat belt monitoring on it, which is all the same stuff. Chevy have the seat belt? >> No. And I he sent all that stuff and there's nothing specific with the Chevy about the seat belt monitoring which we have. It's not I mean my kids know better take their seat belt off but as soon as it is you get the ding ding ding seat belt thing on. I know which one rides a lot sweeter on the highway too when I'm [laughter] driving. >> I do too. All right. Very nice. >> Ford. Yes. >> Yes. Ford does. I guess I'm
133curious. We tried the Ford. Is there any downside that we've seen so far at this point? >> We've got We've got a fleet of Suburbans. >> Two years a year and a half. >> About a year and a half. >> Other than when it first showed up, it didn't have a back seat in it. >> Yeah. >> Oh, really? We only have two rows of seats when we got it. >> Yep. [clears throat] >> Do our maintenance guys work on them at all? Do they have a preference? >> We hire a lot of that. We are a lot of work out but I think I don't think we had to do much to it oil changes and I think they do that most >> I know that they like the the port option but again
134>> minimalist especially the big there's not a lot of other people >> and the seat belt thing is big I mean >> tell you the seat belt thing is a big thing >> our kids maybe knew not to do it but there's a lot of little kids out there and we transport some that will not stay in their seat belt >> that we have >> I can easily justify my decision if I would want based on the seizure question. That That's the cheaper of the two fids. >> It has to have a rear H back. >> It does. But >> but the driver controlled it. >> Correct. Correct. >> Well, then [laughter] >> that way the kids can't fight about it. >> But that was when I when I asked them, I said, "Okay, >>
135put it back rear control when they've got rear control back there." >> What's basic differences between the XLT and the XL? They said, "What's the vinyl flooring versus the carpet? There's not climate control availability in the back. It's all >> your radio or something. >> I move for the >> second >> one or two. >> 70 one Ford or two for >> Yeah, one or two. Were we going >> in the past two? >> Now the the last time we got the expedition. Well, this and I talked about this, >> but past practices and >> then when you got one, you got two every other year kind of thing. That's completely up to you guys. >> That last time is the first time we only did one. >> She's right. >> Is there one getting
136in? >> They don't run them till they fall apart and then surplus them or auction them or whatever. >> We are running a lot more of them now. We were I mean sometimes you can't even get a car. I mean with everything we have and you got a meeting you can't get a car. >> The trail the trailblazer that we >> was using a lot for just one or two teachers going to training is now kind of been put on the route for transportation and one student back. So that not really available anymore. >> Um we've got a couple more students just getting some transportation within the community for some of their educational purposes. So that takes another one off complete for staff to use. So >> and then if there's if there's, you know,
137ball games or they take several several of them are going to be going out, then you can't take one out. >> I I need to amend that motion. I don't >> I move that we purchase two Fords. >> I say that because when we bought the last two Suburbans, they were like 42 grand. And I'm like, God, I wish I could have bought one of these. We should have bought 10 of them. >> Yeah, >> I know. Oh, that's 61 is cheap because I keep thinking what the prices that we've gotten. >> How is that? >> I'll take another vote. Yeah. Moved and seconded on that. Okay. All those in favor. All right. 70. >> Thank you, by the way. >> You're welcome. Thank you. That just puts us back on track to where we're
138not, >> you know, not all. >> Like Brendon said, two or three years from now, we'll wish we'd have bought four of >> them. Pretty much. But you got to stagger that out or else you have them go out of service all at the same time too, >> right? >> All right. Uh KSP policy. >> Yeah, we had this last your first read last month. Um I again they so they talked over a lot of these in our last week in a in a zoom and couple of them aren't really necessary because they're covered other policies but I don't see any reason not to approve all of them except for the >> IB which is the AI policy. Um only because I I feel like any AI policy you put into place it's already going
139to be um outdated by the time you approve it. Um, most of the time from a student perspective, if they're using AI to do anything with their work, it's not an AI problem. It's a cheating problem or academic honesty. Um, and I just feel like from an AI perspective, you're always going to be chasing your tail. Um, there's nothing wrong with with approving it, but at the same time, I don't know if it really has any teeth to to be on there. But outside of that, there's there's no other ones that, you know, really any concern. So, >> uh, was this list of policies like the actual policies in last month's? >> Yes. >> Did I get it? >> I I I just I left halfway through the previous meeting. >> Yeah, they're over there.
1406B. >> Yeah. >> Second. >> The second I move to approve as presented minus >> I I >> second. All those in favor 70. Right. Next one. We have some memorial funds to accept. >> Sam, I think we we got what about 2300 so far. We didn't want to put an amount on it because we still have donations coming in. So, we just wanted to accept. >> So, they're giving me 100 bucks at a time or whatever. I'll meet with Linda as we get a more settled number to kind of get some info. I hope not. Not Linda. I'm sorry. Stacy. Stacy. >> I mean, I love you to death. Hopefully, really not. [laughter] >> Thinking you got a little bit more. >> Well, it takes me down again. Maybe. >> Okay. >> I move
141that we accept memorial monies for the athletic account from the Linda Pierce Memorial. >> Thank you. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. And finally, um, investment, the renewal of the two CDs. And there was a note in there from Janet kind of giving you some information about interest rates and maybe have a little decision to make on that rather than just a the usual renewal. You want to expand? >> So, so basically and and I I did the the Terry Kelly I believe is who gave me the the rate. I I did let them know that there, you know, was a possibility that we might not leave it there depending on what the board wanted to do. So, their rate is 3.75 for both uh uh the million dollar and the and the
142500,000, the three and the six month. Uh we're at 4.05 here. So, I've actually talked to this bank, too, just to let them give them a heads up with the pledging that uh we that's a possibility it could get moved back. My recommendation is we move it back. I mean, that that with a million million and a half dollars, that's pretty good interest. And, you know, rates might come up again. Uh, I watch them every week on on my weekly uh interest from the state and this actually is a little bit low for that. >> Are we ready to move both or just the >> They're both due right now. I would recommend we move both back. One one one re one comes due on the 17th and the other one comes due on the
14318th. >> Okay. were beginning like this past three and wasn't it like 42 or >> it was 425 427 for a while. >> Yeah, something like that. >> Like it was up there. >> The CDs have really dropped in the last couple months. >> They have and and and actually they give the better rates on the lower um shorter term CDs. You get you get you'll get a better rate on three month you will at 12 month which is just completely opposite of the way it used to work. So, but I I think just for better the better of the school, I would as business manager recommend we move them back right now and just put them in our checking account and then we wait and see what rates do. If they go up, then
144we can bid them back out for CDs again if it's going to exceed that. >> How complicated of a process is it? >> Yeah, >> it's not. I just drive down on the day it's on the day it's due or within 10 days after it renews I or after it comes due, I have 10 days to get it out. I just, you know, I let them know that we're not going to renew them and then I go down and actually get the money and hand deliver it back here to the bank. >> Says about $4,000. >> Did the [clears throat] state exchange rate come up or were they always paying that? I couldn't. >> So the state exchange rate is this is what they did to pay our checking account all of our uh interest
145bearing accounts this year. So this is just a checking account. It's not even >> what did that rate change? Did their rate change? Their rate did change. Yes. >> Yeah. It changes every year. And this, you know, last year we had visited and they they they did a little bit better and this year their rate was was was really is really pretty good because this is we are at this rate for the entire fiscal year until we rebid that out. >> Uh I move to u move the 1.5 million guarantee in CDs back to the state exchange bank in the checking account. >> Second. All those in favor 70. >> Can I come with you just to see what it feels like to carry around? Do >> I need Do I need to send an
146arms guard with you? >> I'd like to see what that I'd like to see what that feels like. >> You can just go get it. I know what it feels like down there, brother. >> Yeah. >> And you Kenny will tell you probably he probably knows. I remember sitting at my desk and having $100,000 in cash sitting there that I needed to count to go in the vault. I mean, it just sat there while I did other things. It didn't even bother me. I mean, it was nothing because we were used to seeing that kind of cash. >> Okay, I think that's it other than executive sessions. >> I don't have anything else you guys do. >> So, real quick before we go in, this is something maybe you guys can pass around start at
147this end. These are those resolutions and uh I need all board members to sign where it indicates for those resolutions and the rest of this is just for Mark to sign. I think I'm missing one. >> I was like I'm leaning over. >> Just two. >> There's two. One is the one page and one you're signing on the second page. >> Let's do B. >> Okay. We'll have an we'll have an executive session for B non-elected personnel. >> Then I I think so. >> Sorry, we were made work so hard. Sorry we made you work so hard here tonight. >> Tell you what, I won a lot of games. >> I was watching you. I can see >> I was gonna ask you how the card game went. >> Okay, >> let me send this
148real quick. >> Uh, how long? >> Three minutes. >> I already got the things written down here. >> 8:05 it would be fine. >> Okay, Mr. Mr. President, I move we go into executive session with Mr. Cells present to discuss employee contracts pursuant to an unelected personnel section under the meeting will resume at the boardroom at 8:05. >> Second all in favor. >> Sorry I did that whole >> 70 that is >> back in open session. Do have a little bit of action. Did I pick it up? >> I think I signed some stuff, but I don't think I grabbed anything that didn't belong in here. I'll throw it back in. Sorry, guys. No worries. Okay. Motion to accept Joan Unrew's resignation effective at the end of the 2526 school year. >> Second. >> All
149those in favor? 70. >> Motion to approve Susette Guile as substitute teacher. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. I believe that is everything. I'd accept a motion to adjourn. >> I have a question on negotiations. Is everybody like I I uh we'll probably start that in February I assume. >> Training. >> Bobby has her. >> I'm done, dude. >> Okay. I say there's a training in Concordia the 17th of January. >> I think there's >> there's an online option. >> Yeah, there is. Do the online. >> You did the Green Bush one, right? >> I did. And I actually was pleased with the I was pleased the fact that they gave review questions because the questions that they asked I mean you don't actually have to go in and answer but it was
150nice because the questions they asked are things that like three or four of them were things that okay yeah they were dates you know you got to know and then there were three or four of them that were like oh wait a second I don't remember ever talking about things like that so it was nice to get a little yeah >> I just checking on trainings >> I think I've only been on negotiating for two years, three years. >> You do such a good job. >> Are you going >> You'll never get out of it because nobody wants to take those notes. >> I know. >> You You cut off the bar. >> I think I think that's when it is. I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it's January 17. >> Saturday. That's this Saturday. >>
151I'm wrong about the date. I'm sorry. It's like a Thursday. It's a It's middle of the week. >> 15th or 22nd. I'm sorry. >> 29th. >> I'll let you know. I I'll move to adjourn. Second. >> All those in favor? 70.
