001Okay, it is one o'clock and we do have four of us here. So, we will call the meeting to order. >> Um, who's our fourth? One, two, three, four. >> I'm not counting you, Mark. >> Mark. [laughter] >> Thank you for making me feel better, Sam. >> Jeez, that make me feel worse. president. [laughter] >> I'm here. >> Well, I'm thinking about the thing I've already typed up with >> Justin and I'm thinking is he on Zoom? >> Um on the agenda, we have do do have a couple of additions. Uh there will be a 3A which is under the consent agenda and that is simply the November 5th special meeting minutes. along with the regular meeting minutes from November. So, we'll be approving both sets of those minutes a >> and then on there
002will be a 6D for the action items. 6D will be an an AED grant approval. >> I wonder where that was on here. >> Well, I didn't know we had applied for one until I got a check today. Well, I seen it in the notes. That's why I didn't read the notes apparently. >> So, I believe that's all the right move to accept agenda with corrections. >> Second. >> All those in favor zero. >> We're out of rhythm. >> Yeah, I kind of throwing it off a little bit. Okay. U moving on then to the consent agenda. Do you have any questions? >> I move to approve consent agenda. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 4 Z. Right. >> Okay. Uh not aware of any board member reports. >> N >> um discussion items
003then. Uh discussion item A is the first read of the 2627 calendar options. >> Yeah, [clears throat] both of those are uploaded in there. Uh they're at the bottom now and not in order if you refresh it because I didn't update the middle until a little bit ago, but they should [clears throat] be there. Um we worked through a lot of different options at our last DT meeting. Um as you know, last couple years I've tried to get DT's input on these calendars. Um I did offer a calendar option that went back to the three days for Thanksgiving break and that was quickly shot down as an option. I think that the the the weekl long Thanksgiving break went over well. But um quite frankly the only real difference between the two that are presented
004here is um if you look at December um option A has it just like it is this year uh where the students finish on a Thursday and then the the staff um work day for grading is on that Friday. Um, by doing that, we were short a a con teacher contract day. So then that was added up in August. So the inservice day, there's just an extra inservice day added at the beginning of the year. Um, on option B, it mimics the start of the year exactly like this year. Um, but pushes that the students go till Friday the 18th of December and that teacher workday is the following Monday. Um some things [clears throat] to note on there. Uh Easter is early. It's in March. Um the end of March, which is a little
005bit different. Um and then based on again that full week of Thanksgiving pushes the school year back a little bit further than previous years. And so um just like this year, we'd finish on a Tuesday, teacher work day on a Wednesday, the 19th. So, those are the two that DLT felt like u were their top two choices to present to you. So, I bring them to you um as the first read. If you guys have seen anything on there that you want us to consider or things to look into, please let me know. We can figure out >> it's going to touch on that. We have all the discussion around Mother's Day because it's a similar issue it looks like. >> Yeah. Um I I will throw one caveat into the calendar. is there was
006legislation last session um that didn't even make it to committee, but it's already been rumbling around again for this next session in January to where school can't start till after Labor Day. So, if that legislation comes down the hatch and requires us to start after Labor Day, then this is kind of all for not. We're going to have to figure out how to make those. >> And Jeff, doesn't this have to go to to Kevin O and his group first? >> What's that? I feel like we'll have a shorter Thanksgiving break whether we like it or not, you know. >> Well, and maybe a shorter Christmas, too. >> Um, so anyway, these are just kind of the first two. I wanted you guys to look at it first. You know, obviously we'll take it to
007the teachers um to the teacher representatives for the teachers to look at them. But before we get to that step, I just want to present it to you and see if you guys see any other issues. Um they're just Kenny to follow up on yours your question based on the number of days um that or hours that were required to be in there's no way to squeeze that down without squeezing out of it's it's a calendar deal. It's not really >> right. And actually I think it's two more years before the calendar resets. >> Yeah. I want to say because we I pull up the c the acacia calendar with when we were looking at that at DT and I want to say that the last before the end I think the first competitions are
008at the end of August football isn't until like the first or second of September but I mean it's pushing things early and then when that calendar resets then we start back over. So anyway, like I said, if there's anything you guys see in there that we need to explore a little bit further, I'd like to get a few more sets of eyes on it before we, you know, take the two to the teachers um to get their input on as well. So, >> did that calendar option A also reflect the moving of parent teacher conferences a week? >> Oh, both of them do. Yeah, good good point, Mr. Myers. that um we had previously had conferences the 15th and 16th um based on these calendars, but through those discussions that 15th and 16th is always
009the last week of junior high um fall sports. And so we thought it'd be better time to have that not conflicting with events or conferences. So there's really no statute that says we need to have those. The spring conferences are the 25th of February. >> Correct. >> Yeah. Or >> Yeah. 25th. >> And anyway, feel free to to to dive deeper into those and let me know if you have any issues. I think we had quite a few eyes look at it. Um Janet kind of helped catch a couple things, too. I fixed that. The actual classified holiday is the 5th of July, not the 2nd. um if we were to reflect it off of this last year or so. >> What are those numbers for the bottom right of each month? >> Good question.
010So the the blue are student contact days and the pink are teacher contract days. So I just I use that to kind of help >> and those are per month. >> Correct. And then down there at the very bottom it's calculated and add all those cells together. But that way we make sure that we have 182 student or teacher contract days and you know we still want to push for that at least 170 on the student contact. Um >> and the the purple does that count as PD? >> Yep. Those are the PD days. So those are just for me. >> They get two and a half in October. I know they get this uh conference conference counts as two days >> but not as inservice day >> but yeah >> it's a contract day
011but the morning has been an inservice which is a half day. >> Okay. And where's the other two days? >> I I haven't messed with those numbers from last year. >> Oh, I was gonna say I think those are this year's numbers. >> Correct. [clears throat] Anyway, if you have more questions, whatever, let me know. Um, otherwise, we'll look forward to keeping that train down the tracks. >> All right, we'll move on to Juel County Strong Community Wellness Center opportunity. >> Yeah. Well, I uploaded the letter I got um Carla reached out to me um a couple weeks ago and said that they'd applied for a grant um and through that grant they're able to offer three memberships to um USD 107 employees as well as like the hospital and I want to say there
012was another group. Yeah, that was the county. So, um I [clears throat] don't know the ins and outs of how that would work if people already have a a membership or not. But, um we don't need a a motion or anything, but I want to let you guys know and if there's any concerns otherwise, I'll tell her yes, we'll accept that for our staff um to anybody wants to then they need to get in contact with them and they'll get that taken care of. So, I think it's a great opportunity um to let people take advantage of their opportunities to get healthier. So, >> yeah, the swimming >> should be getting done here before too long. >> Is it available this um this >> have a pool and stuff? It's just a walking pool. Just
013one person to walk in it. Yeah, >> it's not like a >> If there's no obligations, I'll reach out to Carla and let her know >> therapy though. Yeah, >> good for the hospital to use it circle. >> Yes, it did. I wouldn't put you in the wheelchair. It looks >> Okay, we'll move on to vehicles. Yeah, [clears throat] I sent an RFP um to um actually to Ford to Alexander in um Superior to Leven Ford in the center and farm country Ford in uh Concordia to get RFPs on a eight passenger um suburban expedition and you have the two that um are presented there. Um, I know that past practice has kind of been um outside of the the expedition we got last year, but it's kind of every other year by two just
014to kind of stay, [clears throat] excuse me, um, keep that fleet up. Um, both have the the the I asked if there was any price discounts if we got two and they said no, that that's the price is the price, but they have the ability to get two if we want to do that or however want. But, um, I present both of those to you. I know a lot of our fleet is Suburbans. Um, we went with the Expedition this last time. Um, I do kind of like the extra u safety measures that the Expedition provides with the seat belt monitoring and all that other stuff. >> I'm not sure GM doesn't have that now. >> Do they? I don't. I think they do. >> I I would ask about it's the LS model. I
015mean, you would think if they did it for one, they do it for all, but you >> That's the That's the basic model. >> It might not be the most basic, though. I don't know. I know it's not pickup. >> Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an option now whether it has it or not. >> Yeah, >> but that's a $5,000 difference basically. >> Yeah, roughly >> just shy of 5,000. >> Ford's not knocking anything off in a sort of killer. >> Well, yes. The the difference um in this too is Chevy no longer offers a fleet option and the Ford does. So the Chevy's going to just go with a with a market value model where the Ford one is still a fleet line. So >> now I will say this bled on truck it
016will come with a full tank of gas and the Suburbans won't [laughter] >> and sometimes that's really valuable. >> So either way I present them to you guys. um I guess for discussion and whether you want to consider one or two or what not at this time. I guess it's up to you guys. But um the last time we got a 24 last year, this would actually be a 26. Um and [clears throat] so in 22 we got two of them. So in in 20 we got two of them. So it's kind of that rotation for two. So that would be my recommendation is that at least move forward with two, keep that up. But if you told them to fill it with gas and we'd buy it, they'd be okay. >> Yeah. >> I
017just remember picking the one up in boy and it was full. And when I picked the ones up here, they had barely any gas. >> Sometimes it has to be made selling, I guess, lack of a better word, selling any like like a wheat, but we bought two. We bought two. We bought two. >> We've got some I don't remember us surplus in any lately. >> [clears throat] >> We've got one that's got some upper engine issues that And then >> we're using all the old clunkers for, you know, trash for distribution and we're transporting kids. And >> I'm not implying they aren't needed. I'm just curious at what point do we have suburbans around? >> We we we will at some point. We also have a couple more transportation needs this year with individual
018students that are taking up a few more of our fleet, but >> some point in time you probably put them on a single bid. >> Well, the other thing we do is then by the time we get to that, they're not worth anything because then our bus drivers, our yellow bus drivers have a vehicle that when they drop their kids off, they get in a vehicle. I know Joe was driving that ugly that everybody was embarrassed to see him in with USV 107 on it, but then he would drive that home in backs. All of our bus drivers do that. So as we pass them down, the bus drivers end up with the clunkers to drive back and forth during the day. So they're not taking the buses, which are cost a lot more with
019diesel to drive back to wherever they live. So that's kind of what they they're not just not being used. >> They don't get to the point where it's costing us more to repair it to their business, right? >> The only one that's went out of fleet was the one that was totaled, the the 11 Well, so if if you want me to get more information on the SEO monitoring stuff, I can >> you know, I like that part of it. I just wish they were about even on price and then that makes it easy and easy. >> Wonder if it'll cost a lot more to add that. I >> was going to say see what it cost to add it. >> We can get it. reach out and we can >> Yeah, why don't you
020find out about that on the suburban if it if that comes with it or if it can be added and if it if it needs to be added how much that cost. >> That jumps us up to Jeff when you guys go to executive session. I call up and ask that question if you'd like. >> And I don't know maintenance wise whether it makes more sense to have the same rig so you have the same building. But >> we've already got one one expedition though. So, >> we don't really >> That's what I mean. Which known >> a spec sheet on the Chevys would be nice, too. I mean, the Ford I can see it's got a 35 EcoBoost V6 versus assuming a 53 V8 the Chevy, but I don't >> Yeah, that's really explo.
021>> I can look what an LS I can look up what an LS is a quick probably figure that out. >> Sure. >> They could also easily provide those details to her. And if Ford also knew that they were 5,000 too high with a hey five grand less we get a little closer here might be the conversation to have. >> Yep. I can't do that and get back to you. >> Okay. Uh item D is some updated KSB policies first read. [clears throat] >> Yeah, there's not a lot of there's some revise or some updated stuff. Um the first one on there apparently there's been some situations where general public have left recording devices there. Uh the only one that I guess there's really nothing uh that I I see they've taken out the word
022AIDS in a couple of them that as far as some of the um human sexuality education type stuff. Um the one I guess that I struggle with and and we as administrative team have had conversations about but it's the new one. Well, the first one is the uh AI policy. Uh the IIB [clears throat] there really isn't a lot in this and and I feel like with AI policies, a lot of times you're just chasing your tail. Um and you'd never be able to have it up to date where it needs to be. Um you know, we've talked from a student perspective that still falls in line with cheating. Um whether it's AI or not. Um, so that's the only one that I would consider maybe not um adopting. We'll wait get a little more
023information before it's time to to approve these, but that's the one that I just sometimes you can paint yourself in a corner with policy and really not even still have anything to go off of with it. Um, there's some just some language stuff. uh like I said with AIDS and then the LGBTQ stuff the non-resident the the interesting one on the non-resident um enrollment which is the JBCC is and I've asked for further clarification on this and it I haven't got it yet but it talks about you can go into other districts and pick them up. >> So nowhere does it say you have to or if you're able to. There's a big difference there, >> right? >> And I haven't wondered this is meaning to their home, correct? I mean, that's the way this
024is greeted, but that's where I was. >> So, if they live if they live if they live right across the street from a school in a different district, it says that we'd go pick them up. >> But my interpretation is if they want to come here, they can provide it. We don't we're not required to provide. >> So, why can't we ask that we can keep what we've already got? mile and a half, two miles. >> Yeah, 1.5. >> But I still don't think that there's enough clarification on this. It says will I that's a requirement or not. U the other one we talked about a while back that there there was it was revised because last legislative session that it wasn't even school district but an offduty officer that was carrying didn't want to
025disclose he was an offduty officer but still want to go be carrying the school. So now it says you can require law enforcement to show their ID if they're going to be carrying out school events. So that's the gist of most of that. Like I said, the AI one I'm just I don't know if it does any good. Um if it does any damage either, but never going to be on top of AI. So again, a little more uh reading enjoyment for you in your spare time next month, but want to present those to you now. >> We're ready for 5e seasonal health. >> Yeah, with you know, we had the um support specialist position. We haven't filled that and talking with Alan and Travis, they thought maybe explore see if there's any part-time or
026um I guess seasonal help to help through that until we figure out what we may or may not need. I put an example of a of a job description in the board packet of what like >> and Jeeoff that could be used in I mean if we made it a little bit less restrictive that could be used in the summer as well >> not necessarily for for transportation but maybe for custodial >> so anyway I present that to you. I'll pop off that up for questions, comments, anything else. And if you want, that does require board approval to approve the job description. in for summer. >> I don't know. I just was just seeing this. I was thinking there's times in the summer they talk about maybe need to grab some extra people for different
027jobs. >> Is the idea just trying to open it up to more candidates by doing just >> half a year? Well, there's a lot less activity in the county over the winter months that they could find some qualified people. >> But if maybe if you found the right person and they wanted to correct, you could change it to make it a year round. >> I read it looks good >> and I I fully agree with that. So, do you want a motion? Uh yes, we would need one if you want to approve that job description. >> I move to approve seasonal support. [clears throat] >> Second. >> All those in favor 50. >> Okay. Foundations and boardsmanship. I you guys are probably tired of hearing me say this, but we have to register for this.
028And that's the one in January 24th here um at the junior senior high. believe it starts at n I think it's at 9 to 2 I think um is the time frame but um kind of looking for somewhere >> who's who's going to be here is that what you're saying >> solid list so that we can get everybody registered >> I'll be here >> with us being able to to post I'm sure we could probably squeeze in one or two if we needed needed to but be nice to just make sure they have the right amount of people >> what date again >> it's Saturday the 24th >> January >> of January I >> at the junior senior high school depending on how many we have, it'll make a difference as to where we are.
029>> There's no high school activities according to the calendar. >> Is that they would they play on that final Saturday or >> tell me that day again? >> 24th. >> It's It's not um >> over. >> It's supposed to be over on Friday. The 24th is a snow day. >> Why would we keep that date open? >> I would plan on being there then. >> I am going to plan on being there also. Otherwise, >> unless it's snow day >> January. >> I think Natalie already said she'd be there, right? >> Yeah. Okay. >> I'm assuming she'll be there. >> You what? >> I've already >> Oh, that's that'll be all the six. I guess we don't know about Justin Brandon. You'll have to just ask him. >> I can follow with them. That way,
030we follow the rules and we get everybody registered for that ahead of time. I guess if there's weather during the NPL basketball tournament, but that would push >> some of us not be there. Yeah, >> right. Well, but yeah, I think that and that's understandable if that happens. But >> we kicked basketball that day. So, >> the 24th at Thunder Ridge, >> you are correct. >> You coach him? >> No. >> [laughter] >> I love you, Mark. I am. I had a business. >> He's a coach. >> He is though. >> He just hand out juice box. >> Yeah. I can't not not that age. Not teach baseball. >> Okay. Is that what you needed on that? >> Yep. I'll follow up with the other two and we'll get everybody registered. So, >> okay. >>
031I think it's I think it's a great opportunity for us to host it here as well. Um, even for those of you, >> you're probably eating my food, too. So, >> um, volunteer control, too. >> Looking forward to it. So, >> all right, we'll move on. >> That makes it available for more of us. So, >> it's good. >> An inclement weather policy thing. >> Yeah. So, this this got brought up and I guess, for lack of better words, I guess this is up for interpretation. So, I kind of want the board um to help with um >> that's a mistake >> interpretation and if we need to clarify the language >> and I've kind of argued this with both Bully and um >> so there's three separate paragraphs. The last one of which says
032if if those employees that are deemed essential are asked to work during snow day that they get paid one and a half times their normal hourly rate. The first one says that all classified leave will be paid during those inclement weather days. So I guess I'll let you read through that, but I want to figure out how you guys interpret that. Does that mean those that are deemed essential are getting the eight hours paid plus the hour time and a half paid? So essentially they're >> and I can tell you as HR the way I interpret it is not the way I was told I have to do it. >> So I'm doing it the way I was told by both. Do you guys understand what the conflict is there on it's it's a matter
033of so on a on a day there's no school for weather all the classified employees get paid their regular rate. >> Correct. >> The ones that have to come in and say shovel snow >> it say it says they get paid >> one and a half times but is that one and a half times their daily rate plus the daily rate that everybody else is getting who's not coming in or does that just mean they get a half of their daily rate >> extra? Extra. That's the way I take it. Currently, they get paid time to stay home. Time and a half to work. That they only get a half time to come in and work. They could stay home for time and >> not get that other half. >> That's why I take it
034that way is because that's the way it was with the hospital. If I get called in, I if you get called in after hours, it's time and half. >> But if you're on top of time, not getting >> you get your regular hours. So when I worked for this for the city of Harrington, the way that most of the cities do it is is and this was a holiday or you know we didn't have in weather but you get paid time for the the day off that everybody gets and if you get called in or you have to work you get time and a half. So those people got double time and a half. So most people are like heck yeah I'll work the I'll work those days because I'm because I could stay home
035and get time. I'm going to get my time that everybody else gets anyway plus I get time and a half. That's the way this is written to me. >> But I was just told that wasn't the intent. And so >> either way, and if we need to change policy, I'd ask you to consider that because um >> or can we split the difference or something and make like >> like double like two times instead of >> like you get paid for your day off plus you get paid for a day of work, right? Like double time. >> Double. >> No. >> And I'm saying what if you split the difference on that? >> Yes. So you get your eight hours of paid that everybody gets, but then if you work, you also get your hourly
036rate for that work that work time. >> Yeah, it's I guess I can see both sides of it and I I suppose a lot of you know I asked you pro there's probably a lot of school districts that and I don't know this but that don't pay classified employees if they're off for that day. >> Do we know what other districts do? >> Well, that's what I'm that's what I'm saying. I think probably were more in the minority of paying everybody when they're >> right >> at home. >> When I when I reached out to to around the state to different people and asked how they handled it, about 90% of them said we don't pay anybody during snow days unless they come in to work. So then getting time and a half would make
037sense because you're getting more than compensated for your time. We already pay all of ours that flat that daily rate. So, I would say that if you tried to take that away from staff, you'd have me. Yeah. >> So, we've got to just I I >> How many employees would that typically three to three to five at most? Um and I would >> I would say if they're only essentially working for half time, it's really incentive to want to come into work. >> May not want to come in. >> That's for the kind of work they're having to do in the cold. Mark's thought though, like if if everybody that just gets to stay home gets paid, but you're going to show up and get I don't think we should be paying them time and
038a half on top of them getting >> right. They they get paid the same that everybody else gets if they stay home, but then they get paid for their time to work. >> I think >> absolutely does. >> I think that would make a lot of people happy. >> Yeah. >> Because there's usually a little bit of grumbling when really I just get I can sit home and get paid or I can come in and just get another half again. They're just getting double time when they're here. >> It's not a lot. >> No, I don't think so either, >> but it's it's compensating them for their time, >> right? Yeah. >> Which I I would say the double time would be fair. >> Yeah. See, >> okay. I will work on >> policy. >>
039Yeah, let's get some new wording on that policy. Make that a little more clear. >> I will work on that and have that for next meeting just for the new language. Okay. >> All right. >> Thanks, guys. That'll make a lot of people feel better. >> Okay. we will move on to facilities. >> Yeah. Um just a couple updates on on different things. We're still having some people inspect. We've we've got heat [clears throat] in all the buildings right now, which is good. Um, >> that's plus. Yeah, >> we had Dave K came and did a lot of work around the air handlers and that's where the water or the pipes were in really, really rough shape. Um, they should be back, I believe, this week to tune the boilers. It was getting some error
040messages and shutting off, but we haven't had that issue the last couple days. So, that's good. Um the high efficiency ones in the elementary, there's three different ones. One's been working fine, too. One of them is intermittent and the other one hasn't been fired at all. So, we've got um trying to get American Boiler back out here to run through that and get that working. It hasn't affected the heat, but it's not as powerful as it could be when it when it get colder and colder. So, um just to get an update on that. the we got an estimate for the sewer pipe that goes from the boiler to the kitchen to the southside at the junior senior high that they cleaned out a while back. Um there's no cleanouts anywhere in that line, so
041they'd have to add some cleanouts to help out. But um that price tag is well over the $20,000, so we'll have to put that out to bid. Uh that first quote was about uh I want to say we're right around $80,000. Um to get over. >> What do they do? They're just going to add cleanouts and then >> and clean it out. There's just it's there's a ton of grease or anything else in, but once they do that, sometimes that grease helps keep the pipe together if it cleans it out. And then it and then it's deteriorated, they can go in and put an epoxy um on those spots that need it. Um and so that would cover the the basic treatment of that. And if there's some where the pipe is essentially deteriorated, it's
042an extra uh I want to say $200 a linear foot. But that's not for a crack or a little hole. It's for disintegrated pipe. >> What did you say? >> From the from the boilers, the boiler room at the high school through the kitchen and then just on the east side of the comments out to the to the main se. It's nothing. You're going to lay a new pipe. It's all under the building. >> It's all under the building. >> So, trying to tear it up to get to a pipe, it's a lot easier to kind of work from the inside out on that. But, um, again, based on that number, we'll have to send that out to bid. Anyway, >> why did they not build a tunnel system? >> That's this the school that's
043the poorestly designed school I think I've ever >> 1965. They didn't build it to work on >> they made it so you cannot do maintenance on that underneath to work on all this stuff. So just to just [clears throat] >> those are just some things and those are on that capital outlay plan that I put out just so you kind of know on that >> um >> also trying to um update that question was asked a while back about you know gym force too and there's a lot of soft spots in the competition gym. We also know that the elementary full high school floor is can't be sanded down anymore. So you have an idea replacing the wood and everything subfet about $180,000 about 120 to 130 at the junior senior high which to be
044quite honest I was pleasantly surprised more than that. Um, >> are there soft spots? Are they because of the existing wood or is it because of the substructure? >> It's probably what's underneath it. >> The gym up here having >> spots in it. >> It does and it's getting worse. >> So, not that that's not that that is pressing right now, but I added that to that plan. Just some updated numbers as well. So, um like I also added um it was asked about air conditioning at the um a and wood shop areas, not just the classrooms. And so I added that onto that that plan as well. And so it's on there. So I think I'm guessing that's 20 to $30,000 would be my guess up there. So that's the the update on those.
045Um, we're just going to keep holding the breath that everything works fine and no more issues with the HVAC. So, >> the air conditioning in the Woodson building, is that something we could put into this upcoming bond? The water's too [clears throat] >> The language says HVAC on a junior senior high. So I would guess if there's extra it would fall in line with that. >> Probably I don't think we have any estimate. We've never asked Have we ever asked him for an estimate? >> No. >> That's Yeah, >> I can see it being really nice. Practical air conditioning. I just don't know. >> A mini split would work just fine. >> I don't know what the ventilation is like or any of that. >> Well, how many farmers have that in their big >>
046[laughter] >> They just open the doors at work, >> four or fiveers, you know, >> I think there's all I think there that's a small enough area too that there might be alternate ways it could do a little bit cheaper whether it's some >> commercial mini. Yeah, it might that might I mean you you might not be able to keep it 65 degrees in the summertime or whatever, but >> but if it's not 95, you you >> No, I'm sure when you're in there finishing out, you know, woods projects with varnish or whatever, it be nice to be climate controlled, not >> Yeah. >> 110. So, that's [clears throat] on that plan. Um I added that. So, we'll just keep um keep exploring those and as as things get out, I'll make sure to let
047you guys know on that as well. So, >> okay. >> Or also I don't think the name too, but the um I know [clears throat] there's it's the little theater uh just I don't know paint job. I know it's >> it's just I mean I think a coat of paint maybe just little refresh at some point. It >> kind of public things there. >> Use that. >> With barbs. I mean they put new carpet and everything downstairs. That refreshing that vander has made it just a really nice space. >> Get some quotes on seating because I'm going to tell those seating that's pretty small and there's a lot of people who don't fit well in them. I did at one time I do now. >> So if >> I mean just on a plan for
048the future >> if you look at replacing the seats and you then it all has to be ADA compliant and so then there's a lot more layers of >> if it goes over 50%. >> Yeah. >> But anyway, I just again wanted to make sure to update you guys. at some point. I'm I'm curious and this is awesome, but I'm just also sure there's other things as we think of, you know, where does all this fit? Like do we um [clears throat] do does the I know you've got a form that um staff fills out kind of, you know, are those more like maintenance requests? Does some of those then end up in this at some point? like how what's the flow of information from staff, maintenance, teachers, all those components to be then okay
049that's going to go into how we then make decisions on projected capital outlay in the future. That's that's the process is more what I'm kind of curious what you're thinking with this. I think it's great. I just want to I want to ensure that it keeps it continues and keeps getting built on so we're not having to recreate it in a few years. Well, you were probably part of it last time when >> both buildings went to all of their staff and the custodial and transportation. They made a master list of every single thing they wanted. Then everybody voted on it >> and we tried to prioritize it and then we plugged it into a >> eight year plan and then it stopped. >> Well, it's right before we got the little theater. That was
050the last >> that's when we turned over the >> I guess that's where I'm like I knew we had a system. I know it kind of stopped. I'm like It's the system cuz things are going to continue to get added onto this. >> It seemed to make everybody feel good because they could see that it was getting done and they knew that their project was next summer or the next summer and they had confidence that it was going to get done and it was budgeted for. >> We need a list like that. >> Yeah. >> This is this is that >> it's just how do you continue to >> that way you can make that and then you wouldn't have to make that then you would have to make ramps. That'd be a lot cheaper.
05188 fix. >> I'm not a discussion for today, but I like what he's saying and what you've started like what's that blend to ensure our staff community the us as a board all kind of >> and the continuity of it. That's the piece that and that you know >> like I said >> as administration changes that what month does this >> agenda or where does that show up to ensure that we as a board are holding it accountable and reviewing it? >> We used to do that and then >> Yep. >> Yeah. I think it would go a long way issue this next. They could see that plan and know that the money we have in capital outlay right now >> still probably not >> going to be used >> and it's still probably not
052enough. >> Well, I'm just hoarding it. >> Yeah. >> So, >> and it won't go as far as we'd like. >> I agree because there anybody that's outside of this room or outside of the school buildings wouldn't have any idea of that kind of a list of those kind of needs. I mean that's that some of that needs to be communicated out somehow too that hey these are these are all needs and these are all things that have to be addressed in the next few years >> and it's something that can be put on our website or >> how do you get it's some point get on you know be a priority for administration to because we've seen the ball get dropped >> let's get it on like is it in our board handbook that
053we've listed things in certain months that these are things that we're going to review and ensure that every year this is what we're going to talk about in this month is that where this belongs to It can't be on every month, you know. I don't think that's necessary. >> Well, that's you know, we used to throw it on there every month and then at 11:00 at night, it was like, oh, it's Yeah, that's till next >> get more efficient in our meetings. I don't think it's unreasonable to have it available to review everything. >> No, would it be good to have a committee so that you know if I don't anticipate Jeff leaving, but I think that's what's happened with our turnover and superintendent. It's kind of went with whoever went out the door. If
054we had a committee that worked on it, then we would still have people here who were up to date on everything on the plans and the thoughts behind it and then you just add the superintendent or or the new principal or whatever back to that committee. >> I'm a little torn on the committee. I like I like thought I'd rather the committees be saved for those specific projects if you want you know the board to break down like okay like the HVAC like the you know line want that input uh in in the midst of all they can report back but I want to make sure this shows up at the board on a semi-regular basis so that it doesn't get lost so that the board is a whole and the administration's doing their work
055and the behind the scenes to ensure it's continues to be populated >> and that's something that we can make sure is on every monthly admin meeting agenda is facilities too. So >> I said I'd like to see it in our board handbook that this is a it's in our policy that we have to review annually. It it flungering. It just doesn't say when. >> So like we got to pick is it January and July? I I don't have a clue that or just put I don't know some point needs a show but I don't I think once a month's too much. >> Yeah. >> Every other month. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I'll work on trying to come up with a plan. >> I mean, because a lot of some of this is summer stuff. So,
056it's my assumption is some of this is have to be decided in January, February. What do we put out for bid? When do we want to approve those in February, March so that we can have contractors ready when schools closed to be able to do these things? So, that's kind of as you all think get bids and stuff because when we were doing it last time, it was we needed 64 new doors, you know, [snorts] the interior doors. So we had part of our plan was each year we got these six these eight and the location so we it was mapped out >> and so that that time that when we do that may be relevant to when how we know these some of these projects get staged >> everything was scheduled for the summer
057we just had bids up to there and approved yet can't wait till May to start working on I know >> we'll work on coming up with a little bit better and and schedule for that. [clears throat] >> Well, it just there's a lot of these things that it just when that ball gets dropped then when you pick it back up later on. It's just that much more work because you got to go back and kind of start all over again which is kind of some of what you've had to do with that. And it's if we can stay on it that makes that process a lot easier. >> Yeah. Our policy doesn't help. Our policy is that we do this. >> Yeah. >> Okay. We will move on then. The last discussion item is bonded.
058>> Yeah. I guess before we get too much too uh deep into that, we could follow up on some of the questions Wayne had brought up about the the farm trucks and different things. Um got a pretty good explanation reaching out to some other um county appraisers and so I put that in there. I don't know if it makes a ton of sense or not to you guys. Hopefully it makes more sense to you than it does to me since I'm not in the >> You need to read through it a couple more times. Yeah, I it's >> um >> clear as mud. >> Yeah, exactly. >> But the the way I understand it is it takes market value of that vehicle times a multiplier. Um, but outside of that, again, not owning any of
059those, I don't >> Yeah, that still doesn't explain why stuff just went up, >> right? >> X amount of percent because vehicles don't really appreciate. >> Well, I I got to take my tax statement in and that'll go. >> Well, this actually came from Mitchell County appraiser or the Mitchell County appraiser because the Juul County appraiser was out until like the 12th or something. So, that's where this information came from. from and I know she would be happy to answer any questions that somebody might have on on this particular document because that is where it came from. >> Yeah. I mean, and this this does this answers a lot of the questions on how that value gets determined, but it doesn't really answer that question of why in one year that percentage would go up
060so much on something that should be going down in value. >> Change the increase the assessments. >> Yeah, >> that's going to increase your tax. So you're going to see a whatever percentage that is. >> And I I'm wondering >> went down >> just from not this tax but last year's even my house went up 60% 6 and I was like what the heck? She said well we're trying to get caught up with the market value compared to counties around it. So I don't know >> because you just bought it recently is why your house went >> that pay that for it then you'll pay taxes on that. So I didn't know if if they're trying to doing a market adjustment on the farm trucks or or what. I don't know. >> I'm blame that
061manipulating the values is what's they bump the value on those not too many years ago. >> But Juel County also has been known for being behind. They've been trying to play catch-up for years and it could just be that they realized, oh wow, we were so far behind. Let's just catch it all up at once. And they hit all >> Well, I guess that's what I'm saying is that I still don't necessarily have the answer. Does this come from the state or does this come from the county that that change? >> You need you need to get your county appraiser to either present this and >> and they'll blame it on the state. >> Put this to put something together from the c from her. That's that's that's their job. I I don't tell them
062how to do their job, but I have no problem asking them. >> That's their job. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, I just want to share that's the information on that. So, >> I appreciate that. >> Yeah. Um, and then, um, you know, again, I I don't know if it's a lot of information, but it might might be enough to explain to the community, too. I want to I've reached out and finally was able to get in touch with um a guy with USDA about um what support USDA can provide, whether it's grants, loans, all that kind of stuff. Um, basically for a grant they can they're they're allowed up to $50,000 towards project and that's kind of the limitations with their grants. Um, which nobody's going to say no to $50,000 but for our HVAC
063and or you know a tech and trade center that doesn't really help us a lot there. They said if you're trying to get a USDA loan, if it's HVAC related, it can be pushed out to 10 years, which is basically the same thing as we looked at as a lease purchase. So through all that conversation, what I gathered is USDA really can't help us with our current projects that that we're moving forward with. But if we want to explore a technic trade center later on or something else that that option is out there because for those you can push out to up to 40 years terms. So make that payment a little bit easier down the road. How that 50,000 might cover grants to put it in the blue snack shop. >> You can't get
064that money till 2027. Is that >> 2027 tax? >> And also they have that that legislative one that you could get. >> But again, that was >> that's the one that's 27ation from him on what like we read about this >> um a one page flyer >> forward that to us. >> Yep. because you can't even get they said even several million from if you go through your legislator and there's a whole instruction on doing that but again you're you're looking you're out to 2027 before there will even be anything that's available and there is no grant right now he said because they haven't released any money so right now there's nothing you can apply for a grant anyway >> I I am planning on it opens up after the first of the year applying
065for a grant for the Patterson family like the buddy of mine that is at Paulstead said they were able to get $200,000 um to fully equip their a shop with good welders, tools, everything in between. So, I'm going to talk with that superintendent then see how he went about that, try to apply that as well for us um to to get just more updated equipment. I do know that I guess it's kind of on the facilities, but uh Allan went down there was able to get the plasma cutter working um last week. Um some of the the programming side of it's a little bit behind and it's not cut up, but he's got it to where it's cutting everything else. So, it looks that I know Mr. McNichols has been volunteering down there a little
066bit. Um he's got three of the welders working properly now. One of them's not working. And so, It's I think it's working a little bit, but it's not where it needs to be. >> He's I think he's really enjoying his time there. I think the kids responded really well with that. And we'll talk more about that uh later, but so I plan on trying to find grants to get us new equipment with our shop. >> [clears throat] >> It's been several years since we've used some of that equipment because we've been teachers that that were strong in the animal science side but not in the welding and that side. So >> So through through that background information, I guess the next thing on there is the uh all of the law language and all of
067the the paperwork that comes with that. Now I can't find it. 6A. >> Oh, it' be yeah in action item six. >> So I guess was there any any other question or conversation about >> it was the pieces were lighthouse. they he I got in touch with SPT last Thursday or Friday and he's going to work on getting those to me and I said I need them before Christmas break but if I as soon as you get them I need them because we need to get them out to the public. So um but just basic floor plans of what those additions will look like. So he's working on those to get us to get them to us soon as possible. out later this week. >> Um I have have a concern and that is when
068we when we did this the last time it passed the resolution. There was zero information that came out for about two weeks after that. And I think that added to a lot of hostility and suspicion and I'm I'm I'm fearful of walking into the through the same door here. If we pass this today and nothing come I mean there there there should be something come out if not today then tomorrow explaining what what it is that's going on here because I'm afraid people are going to have that same reaction of well here they go again. They they passed this thing and didn't tell anybody and we don't know anything about it and there no information and it's just >> we want to come out with it before the clerk does >> I will tell you
069the minutes are not going to be in the paper tomorrow. Oh, because I'm gone tomorrow. >> I just I I'm I'm afraid we're setting ourselves up for the the exact same situation and may maybe worse because it's it's doing the same thing twice. And I just I I guess I was hoping that we walk in here today and if you know, assuming that we all we all vote to pass this resolution that that there is some there's a press release, there's a something that's coming out this afternoon or tomorrow that explains what it is we're doing. Am I the only one that's proactive? >> And so if we sit here and go, okay, we passed the resolution today and then hopefully by Christmas we have something to send out. I'm like, I don't know if
070I'm on board with that. >> Everybody ready to answer the question, what's in it, >> right? >> I'm not. We should be able to answer that question at the vote. Sorry, my I don't know what I don't know what SPG's plan is and what their timeline is, but I'm sorry. I'm tired of >> it. They've been a part of this for >> how could they how could they have gotten to this point and not be able to tell us what a what a safe and secure entrance looks like on a on a piece of paper? How how come how can we not be any further than a than a red rectangle on a picture? I just I don't get it. I I I thought they could come through on something like that. So that when
071we walk out of here that that we have something that's in in writing that can be put in the paper or put on the website or sent out on email and that we have some drawings that can be put up on the website for people to say, "Okay, what is this project look like this time around? What is it we're going to be voting on this time?" >> And he did tell me on the phone today that he would be available during our meeting if you needed to call and talk to him. Not sure he wants to talk to me right now. [laughter] I'm unhappy. >> Right. >> So I I mean I obviously we need to we need to move on this today because this is kind of our deadlines that we if we
072before we do that I want to know what the plan is. >> We have until the 15th. >> Don't we have until the 15th? It has to be in by the 15th. >> State has to have received by the 15th. >> And what all is left to do I just this has to have the best possible opportunity to pass. >> And in order to do that, in order to do that, we've got to be it's it's not just >> it's not just it's not what everybody would consider transparent. It's what we would be. Exactly. I mean, it's just >> and there was that that that narrative got around the first time around that that there we were not being transparent or we were being dishonest or we were not sharing information. And I can't I
073can't dispute that cuz we sat here for like I said two or three weeks after we voted on it and put out nothing. >> I know >> the only thing that came out was a was a thing in the paper that said what the resolution was. When when do we give people some information? know what to [laughter] say is >> Yeah. And they draw their own conclusions, right? They read that resolution as to >> Yeah, that's whether they're right or wrong. >> Because I can I can read those resolutions and I I know what that means kind of. But if if I wasn't involved in all these discussions, I'd read that resolution and go that doesn't tell me anything what they're trying to do. >> So that's my feeling about it. Well, if I >>
074We ought to be able to pin it down pretty good. I >> think so. >> But but I would I still feel like [clears throat] Do you think everybody all the voters in this county know what that new HVAC system is or what what it is we're trying to do? >> What would it entail? >> What does it look like? >> Not not in detail. Not that they need a lot of detail, but in the last in the last go round it was >> that one spreadsheet covers the Hback pretty good. >> As far as they're concerned, they did they know it's it's going to cover the whole school. >> We never until we got into >> They don't want a whole lot. >> I don't understand why they can't just get a mockup drawing
075of the few thousand square feet we're looking at. I just don't that should not be a complicated multi-week process. >> Doesn't have to be that. They were giving us drawings pretty regular like >> of just you know when we were making the decisions about ABC options and different things and I just don't understand why this is they'll give us a cost estimate but not >> and it doesn't have to be an exact I mean >> no it doesn't >> understand it could be something we could say okay this is what we're looking at whether or not this is what actually it ends up >> I don't think I even have an answer to the question of where where is it going to be located at the high school >> do we know that yet where
076where's the entrance that we're talking about asking him $1.5 million for >> threw me for a loop when they said they were moving the science room the other direction. So, [clears throat] >> sorry, not meaning to drag this thing to a halt, but I'm >> Well, you're absolutely right. We need to get it right this >> and I think I just think we're getting ready to make the exact same mistake twice of passing something and then not having any information about it. I I get that, you [clears throat] know, probably at this point most people understand what the HVAC piece of it is. Um, but is there is there need to be a little more information about why it is why it this cost is what it is? I mean, I I don't I'm open
077to suggestions. do feel like we need to have something that goes out to the public, even if it's just simply a little newspaper article or something that's >> explains what was done today if it gets done. >> Yeah. At a minimum, some kind of a press release with some >> with some promise of more detail to come and more often and more frequently than waiting until January 10. >> Yeah. >> And then and then going like last time, you know, this is what we're going to be doing. this is what we're looking at. We will roll out details. >> Say, you know, say, "Hey, the board soon board looked at the results of the of the vote. We looked at the results of a survey following that. This is the course we've chosen. This is
078what that projects are. These are the two choices you're going to have in a two-part bond." I mean, just a simple explanation of what it is we're trying to trying to do for somebody that hasn't watched all these board meetings, which is pretty much everybody. It's definitely put an explanation in as to why the timeline is the way it is. We're not trying to rush it on purpose >> and and you know, if if people were at the community meetings, they probably heard that explanation the first time around, but that's >> I agree. That was a small percentage. >> Yeah. That that people are going to want, well, you know, the the vote just failed and here you go again immediately trying it again. Well, that's we have a reason for that. It's because of
079the timeline that we're dealt with when we can >> only we are only allowed to do >> it's either do it this way or wait another year and >> then you think it costs what it does now wait till next year [laughter] >> and what what kind of disasters might be fall between now and then with that system if it you know >> depends how good the new door >> you might replace gym floor sooner than you think you're going to be replacing your gym floor and happens can start leaking in there >> so is this something that we can expect SPT to help us out I don't understand why they can't. >> I don't know why it's taken a week to get us like we asked a week ago. >> At what point are
080we got to take some some of this into our own hands or get them I mean I'm not saying we need we should we shouldn't have >> is that not something their marketing team >> together some just little explanation some little press release of what >> Jeff you've been the one in touch with them. I I I mean My thought is I I can try to put something together for backup and reach out to them to get out some out for the paper on Thursday with that full explanation of >> I I am I'm very reluctant to want to vote on anything until we have this in our hands. I think that [laughter] is >> I think that is setting us up for uh like I said I walking out of this door we need
081to be able to answer for everything we just asked tried to do because that's pulling the trigger and I I'm not I I'm I'm just not prepared to answer that question in the next hour >> anybody else I mean are you ready like because that's that that that triggers real public. >> I'm going to talk about the HVAC, but that's just because that's something we've been >> talked about adnauseium at this point. >> Well, part I think a lot of us feel like part two is pretty important to this on and would love to see it pass. I'm not sure that it will, but >> if we want to give it a fair chance, >> need to be able to answer all explain what it is. I mean, I think I I do believe that
082the community, I hope, trusts us for the most part to make a good decision on the Hback and that we've done all our due diligence we can possibly do there. >> Um, beyond that, I don't know that they understand the rest of it or should be able to understand the rest of it yet. >> For the sake of time and discussion that we have here though, I mean, Whether we vote on it today or not, if we got to throw together a special meeting on the 14th or the 9th or the 15th or whatever day it might be, uh, you know, what else do we need to hash out on what part two looks like or any of that? Are we all good there on what that looks like for dollars? >> I think right
083like that. What is that? We're basing that number on part on all of it on what exact like remind me what they've given us. >> It was the same spreadsheet in the previous one with just a lot of the other things taken out >> because that's what we're basing our language off of is that piece. Correct. And we're >> [clears throat] >> Okay. November. >> Yeah. >> Is that Rock Hills? >> Oh, there's there's five of us here. >> That bothers That bothers me. >> Yeah, >> Justin did a call this morning and said he's fully on board. >> I know, but that's not that's not being on record. That's being, you know, I I agree. I I had hoped that all seven of us could be here today for this. >> That's going to
084have to be at 6:00. >> I want to leave it up to the paper. >> Yeah, >> it's going to have to be a six 6 PM or a 6 a.m. in order to get Brandon. >> That's 6 a.m. I don't care. No, I'm just I'm just saying >> if it's just a matter to come in and go on record as voting, you only need to be here for about five minutes. >> Yeah, exactly. >> But I I I mean I kind of felt that way too. I was hoping that everybody could be here for this. >> Yeah. >> Another meeting I can zoom in. >> I would do the same. I I I would like to if we do, I'd like to plan to ensure that there's a schedule that the seven of us
085can all agree that that's the time whether it be virtually or in person or available. >> When you say the state has to have it by the 15th, what time on the 15? I mean, I Yeah, >> I'm just saying like that's an ideal day to get together and give potentially us time to put together what we want to see. Close the business on the 15th. >> What does that mean? >> Well, it would have to be the morning because the a that evening is the junior high winter concert, the 15th. I There's two sides of this coin. The first part of me says the 11th looks like a good time because there's a couple days you have a little grace before the 15th, but if we don't have everything we need, >> then that's
086I don't know how much time it's going to take to get the paperwork together that needs to be turned in on the 15th. I think there's a little bit of filling out and stuff. >> You got you please get us some hard deadlines like and know exactly >> prefill everything out. Can we prefill as much out as we can? So then you >> Well, then we'll have to check with with um >> the option to meet like on a Saturday or a Sunday >> when people aren't working. >> Basketball tournaments here. >> We'll have to find another clerk because I'm both >> said if it's just a matter of voting, we shouldn't be too big >> one item to discuss and arm. >> Yeah, even if it's a half hour, >> you know, >> I
087got no problem with it. I'll be around. I'm not going to be gone for anything that I can. >> Well, I just I I think >> Saturday here Saturday evening. >> I'll be here. >> I mean, I'll be around. >> Me, too. >> We have tournament this weekend, but it's here in town, so >> is there a game on Friday? >> Yeah. Okay. But there's a game Saturday, but I think we play at 1:30. >> So, like at 3:00 p.m.ish, whatever. Pretty good. Works around the [clears throat] >> boys play at 1:30. Yeah. >> So, you could either go before or after that or that most of us would be >> some of that. Can we get this? Can we surely if they don't got it by Saturday, we ain't going to have it by
088midnight, >> right? >> I just think it's I think it's time to turn the heat up on it a little bit. And if you know that means we need to get them on the phone right now. >> It have to be pretty. I mean, I'm not looking for >> not details. No. Yeah. >> Basic square footage or where's it going to go? >> An immediate plan. >> Yeah. Even if it's just an outline of okay, >> that's exactly what I'm talking about. Media plan. What is that plan? >> And who is the one putting the material together and getting it out? Is that us? Because it kind of was the last go around. >> The resolution would be in the paper on the 18th. >> I look at Goodlands. I don't know. >> I just
089think the day that that resolution goes into the paper, there should be something press release also in that paper that explains >> if we don't pass it [clears throat] if we vote on the 11th or off on my days 13th, whatever day that is the resolution will not be in the paper until the 17th or 18th. Correct. >> Yeah. >> Correct. >> That's regardless of the 15th state deadline. >> Correct. Correct. to the paper is >> that's more than >> 16. Yeah, >> that's 10 days to put together, you know, >> an outline for a media plan. >> Sorry to be a jerk, but [laughter] I I came in today with the intention of having a vote on this, but I don't feel like all of us are ready or even here to do that.
090>> Look together. It's going to look better anyway if we're all seven years. >> They developed the constructs >> no matter how me. Thank you. >> No, that's why I made that comment at the last at our special meeting. All seven of us need to be on board. >> They would and here present >> that or it could be a Zoom meeting for everybody for five minutes. >> Yeah. So anybody can >> right now when you look at that resolution it says right there at the top the following members were absent. >> Yeah but you can see I'm filling it out as we go. >> I see that >> that's because we finished it and I needed to print it. We just have you sign it come back later after I was done today. >>
091That's okay. I was just trying to honey trying to do what I needed to do. >> Game times for Friday. >> I I believe son we play the last one. This was all we play 5:30 and 7. That's all they had last time. I mean, but >> so we they were they've made language and we I make myself available to any any day anytime. I don't >> Well, yeah. I don't think I've got anything that's so pressing that I can't for this either get here or get on Zoom, >> but the game is here, right? >> So, that might be convenient while everybody's at the game if they just pop down here when it's done. >> Well, it should not be. >> Then you don't have to come back in another time. We could just
092>> be here. We do in the library. >> We can do in the library. We can do it anywhere. >> This is the information, >> right? And it's a special meeting. So, wherever we call it is where it's going to be. Correct. So, it doesn't matter. >> Tax valuations, locations, >> and that would make more sense. >> There's several systems here. >> But it doesn't even need to be near that elaborate. Do we need to get Piper on the phone or not Piper but >> SPT and say can you get this done >> basically >> no >> 11 you will get this done >> I mean if there's no asking questions anymore I want I'm all for putting them on the spot right at the meeting Listen >> this was one >> I needed this
093yesterday >> now till last week you're two So >> yeah, people understand that >> in a rectangle. >> We need to we need to wrap this up with a plan. So I guess I'll say um my my feeling or my recommendation is to probably table this until the next special meeting. >> Okay. >> Unless anybody feels strongly different on that. I just think we need to have things. >> Yeah, I think >> we need this needs to be done right this time and I don't think it all was last time. So >> I think we are we not clear on what exactly we're asking SPT that we would like in order to move forward because that's I guess with anything we walk out of here today it's our specific requests on what we want. one
094as when I say a media plan I like that's a calendar you know even mock-ups of what some of that stuff would look like maybe not the whole thing but at least what some idea and and I don't there was so much developed in the previous campaign I don't understand why some of that couldn't be used again um and then the same context with a press release again a lot of the same language is going to be used lots and lots is there and then um >> a floor plan yeah there you a floor plan >> or I just don't know that a very accurate floor plan will be drawn up in a week or 10 days myself. But if there is a plan to say we're going to roll out what this is early
095and often, you know, I I mean I would like to see what whatever they can get is great. That that would be great. But I also >> a mockup. You're looking for a mockup. You don't just like >> Well, we know the square footage. You got a bid on how much >> I know, but I mean what's going to go in that square footage? Hey, we're looking to put in this is where we're wanting to put it. This area is going to be this. This area is going to be this. See what I'm saying? >> Floor plan >> is should not be >> I'm telling you. >> I call that a preliminary floor. >> Yeah, they have the capacity to go in a CAD system and do this in an hour. This isn't like that.
096[laughter] >> So does your mom. >> I know. She loves Do we need to call her and have her do this for >> How hard is it to just get a basic knot? She does it by pencil, but that's a whole another thing. >> That's fine. They make a copy of it. But so, >> like I wrote down, we need to be able to put out a newspaper article that has a full explanation of what we're doing and how we got here. >> We need to know what secure entrances means, what it provides, and what it's going to look like. And then >> I like his language. >> Kind of a calendar of when our communication will be to the public. And if that calendar doesn't start for the next two months, I'm I'm done.
097I'm walking away from this thing. >> But that that's and I have foreplay right now, but that's the gist of what you want me to get from SPT. >> Correct. >> Yeah. >> I know the holiday. >> What I would ask Jeff is share that as you get it >> like or or or make a timeline for us this week. If we're we're under the gun here to make a decision by Monday, if we're going to plan a special meeting Saturday or Monday, I' I'd like some little bit of time to review that, >> digest it so we can digest it as we get it. >> Well, there's a question like, okay, this is close or not. Just give provide like some input or feedback or anything. >> I also >> are we on the
098same planet? Because if you ask me to walk in at 9:00 Saturday morning or 3:00 and this is the first time I've ever seen any of this and they're like, well, this doesn't feel right or this doesn't seem good. I'd rather address that. You know, we'd respond individually back to you and say, "Here's the quick thing." >> Yeah. I I also need to get in touch with with Piper Sale and figure out from our standpoint, when's the last date to make the deadline on 18th? Like, is there a day or two in between that needs to happen or whatever else? >> Yeah, those hard deadlines, I would agree. >> Okay. Well, I can soon as our meeting is done today before the end of the day, I'll try to get all that. What's the again?
099Are we we're basing these dollar amounts off of the November wings estimates? That's 100% sure that's the dollar amounts worth. Okay, good with that. Just making sure we know what reference we're using. >> Okay. Um, so the next thing is that do how are we going to schedule that next meeting? like when are we gonna schedule that? Is that that we want to try to work that out now or we just gonna have to kind of do like we did with the last one have you send out some options and >> probably to find out when to get the information. >> It's kind of I mean with >> other than working around basketball games which affects most of us >> or the majority of us I think that's the only thing probably is find out
100if anyone else has anything else to work around. I guess I'm okay with before after the games on Saturday. too. >> Friday night I don't >> Yeah, the only time I'm off is 10 I got 10 to one on Friday day. That's it. Other than that at ball games. >> I just know that Well, I I think Brandon would be available on Saturdays because I don't think he's working any Saturdays. >> That's okay. >> Do we only He only goes to Friday night. >> He goes to the Friday night ball games, too. So what about Justin Saturday morning? I >> So does Justin and Manny because they see the best the fan. >> So then everybody would be there Friday night. >> Yeah. >> We had a game Friday night. Yes. >> But after the
101game in the little theater or 8:30 or 9 I don't know if I want to start >> that's rolling. I think I'd, you know, if you're going to do that, it either needs to be before the game because you know when that will start or I I think I'd rather go I'd rather go Saturday because I I just I think that gets just >> hopefully everybody >> because Brandon had I'm looking I'm just trying to look at all these days. He's got a daughter that plays basketball. So Thursday young kids basketball where are they at? >> They're at June Saturday basketball. >> Saturday and Thursday they're be back Saturday. Yeah. >> So, we do it Saturday evening. I could Saturday late afternoon. >> The boys play on Saturday. Yes. So, that's one game, not >>
102at 1:30. >> Not. >> Yeah. >> Three games trying to figure out when it's going to fit. >> You know, if you want to try to >> You could go after or before. >> Yeah. So, you want to go like at noon on Saturday or >> Yeah. I just I was I'm just trying to look at a time during the week in case we have to have it back for them before >> or Monday morning kind of thing. You know what I mean? >> We'll find out exactly when they need it. Yes. And what exactly they need and the template we need to make sure we have the holes filled for that. >> Yep. So, I got Yep. I got to get in touch with Piper to say when's the last time that when do
103they have to have their stuff from us? the the last possible time to work backwards. So, right now we're looking at Saturday the 13th unless they have to get it sooner and then we'll figure out something when I hear from them. All that also making sure the SPT has everything that we need from them as well. Okay. >> Anything else? Yeah. >> All right. Then we will move on to action items and we would we can go ahead and skip item A that will be tabled till the next meeting. So B is accept division screening. >> I'm sorry. There was another discussion piece in the bond about election. Uh no wasn't election options. >> Did I did I miss that? >> Sorry. We you talked about that. >> We talked about it at our last
104meeting, but we didn't >> I got this from the a consensus that we don't want to change the way that we the elections were done. We keep it the same >> rather than do a mail. >> Yeah. But did you like what's that cost? Are there any decisions we need to make related to that >> like the cost? >> I have that discussion now Saturday. Yeah. Like do we have to pick election like I just don't know. Those are all questions I think I had, but I don't know. >> The estimated cost for a special election from our county clerk was $8,400. >> That is for using the because it has to be ADA compliant. So, you have to use the machines. You can't just do paper ones because that was different than the last
105one. >> That's for full election roughly. >> Yes. >> And all the ballot workers, >> computers, [clears throat] and all that. >> And that's for all three. That is for all three locations, Baroque, Juul, and Mano. >> And it will probably be less than that because she could did not get a hold of the company that does the programming of the machine. So, she just put in what it cost last time and they had a lot of questions where there's only going to be one question. She said that'll probably reduce that cost, but she doesn't know what it would reduce it to. So, I think the cost he has is a high end and it should be a little less. >> I'm not too worried about that. >> That's the big decision. The decisions are
106we're going to have three normal polling locations. Everybody gets handed a paper ballot >> that they feed into the machine. Is that correct? >> Unless you're handicapped and you need to have the machine read it to you, then it's available for >> Okay. >> Well, that's not the same as last time because last time I voted on a machine and I didn't fill out a paper ballot. So, this time everybody votes on a paper ballot and it all gets fed through one machine >> and Je, you know, I don't know because the machine >> the machine is available. So I >> that's >> that might be a question. >> You can request a paper ballot and never enter on a machine, right? >> They still they still run it through the machine to read it.
107So they still have to program the the two machines that like they have up here. She said they still have to program those machines to read them if you do a paper ballot. >> Okay. But that's how much you're getting at. Are we going to be sitting behind a booth, a mechanical booth, or we going to sit behind a paper booth? Right. Am I put am I typing in yes I want this and submit and my paper ballot spits out or am I going okay here's my paper ballot here's my yes >> and am I submitting this >> and we'll have to ask her but but they have to have the machines up they have to have the machines up so >> my guess would be you're going to do the machines yeah if you
108request it >> you can request paper ballot only and when you say we're going to all vote by paper ballot I'm assuming I walk in and get a paper ballot not said a machine and it spits out a paper ballot that's why I'm asking the like but the machine has to but they still have to put the machines out because of ADA compliance. They still have to put the machines out. >> But that's my question. >> Say the words we're going to do it exactly the same way as we did it last time. >> I think of sitting in front. >> I want to be sure that we are either exactly doing it the same way as last time. >> This is doing it exactly the same as we did it last time. >> So
109there's voting machines. Everybody gets a voting machine. You enter it and you get a paper ballot spit out. But there's only one collection for the paper ballots where they read them. >> Correct. 100% sure. 150% sure. >> Well, you can also request the mail in ballot, right? >> Yeah, you can. Yeah, that's always an option. >> Yeah, there was 51 mail in last time based on the 25 general election, the pole workers cost. There's a breakdown here of everything includes the 13 hours election day bus mileage and training. Um, >> which I don't know how many people would need to train for a paper ballot. You don't get mad. So >> voting at the courthouse >> just like last time. >> Yeah, she said >> basically the same as before. >> My goodness. >> Election
110calendar with the estimate. >> Again, I don't get that answer today, but everybody because you have to have the machines out or ADA everybody will be voting on the machines. Is that correct? But that's a normal election, right? Okay. But otherwise, it's going to be just exactly like the the last election that everybody voted at. Okay. That's what I wanted to know. Thank you. So, yeah, she says they do paper and machine every time in case their machines go down, then they have paper available if they don't have to use it, which they didn't have to use it last time, but they might have to use it this time if the machines would go down. that's kind of governed by by their machines. It is machine voting and if something happens, they have papers to
111make sure that the election can continue if the machines go down. >> I just didn't we're doing one question. >> Correct. Two. So, I didn't know how much that workload would reduce. >> Okay. >> Uh I don't I just knew there was some election questions that we had from last time. I think that that cost process probably an election calendar from the clerk's office again when advanced voting starts mailin ballots need to be mailed all that stuff I assume we have to figure how to generate or they do >> because you know how does those get published like we pay them to set up all those dates and get all that that's what their fees >> yeah they have their mailings that they >> are charging us >> it cover I mean because it's got
112noticeable election, notice of public test, advanced voting applications, notice of canvas, notice of places, dates of registration. >> I didn't know that was that's good. That's not on us. >> That's part of theirs. >> I can set this up. >> Was that in here on our documents? >> I can upload it. >> Now, are we ready to move on? I'm good. Okay. is now in the board. [laughter] >> We will move on to the vision screening equipment grant. >> Yeah, we um nurse applied for a grant. This is allows her to do vision testing without the 10 feet needed to cover your eyes, all that. It also helps >> people who can't read. >> It also helps for those that can't see the um thing or if they're color blind or anything else. It works.
113Um, just put the machine up and it'll tell you what their prescription should be. Um, I understand that the health department had one years ago, but we've been working with Lakeside's nurse to come up and do vision in the past, paying her to do it. So, this helps us be able to do it in house. Great. >> We'll speed it up. Right now, we do like every other grade. Uh, Correct. Uh this will maybe make it that we can do everybody. >> Who we get the grant from? >> Uh >> Juel County Community Foundation. >> Motion to accept motion to accept division screening equipment grant of $4,242.50. >> All those in favor? 5. Okay. Um, item C is a $300 anonymous donation. >> You want me to explain that, Jeff? >> Yeah. >> Uh, basically
114this person wanted to remain completely anonymous and they uh want to donate $300. There are the afternoon milk break is if you have money on the couch, you can do the milk break. If you don't, as part of the policy, oh yeah, you're sorry. Go on. You don't get one. This is to make sure that no kid is told to go on. Nobody will know they're getting grant money. It's that if somebody doesn't have it, they'll go ahead and take a milk. There'll be a tally kept and then from this fund, I will pay the food service fund uh whatever is needed that month to clear that cost so that nobody goes without at all. I make a motion to accept $300 anonymous donation for elementary school for milk break support. Okay. All those in
115favor? 5-0. All right. And then we have one more action item and that is the grant for an AED. >> That was the one legacy gun. So yeah, I applied for a grant county community. Um this ad is placed in the old high school >> and she got 100%. The other grant was a 50% cost. She got 100% on hers. So that's really nice. still kept trying that I don't think why [laughter] >> I'm just gonna start carrying one around. >> I'll get it for next. [laughter] >> Yeah, that's what we need for him. I got a joke for you. [clears throat] >> I move to accept a grant for the AED for the old high school. >> Second. >> All in favor? 5-0. Okay, I think we are ready to move on then for
116executive session. I can't figure it out. >> Mr. Mr. President, I move we go into executive session with uh Mr. Myers and Mr. Zel's present to discuss one. This is a point contracts, right? >> Student information pursuant to the exception relating to action firstly favorably affecting a student under coma at the open meeting will resume at the boardroom at 2:36. >> Second. >> All those in favor 50 >> B. How much time? >> Okay, back in open session. Have another executive session. Five or six again. Okay. >> Who made that second? Bobby, is that you? >> Yes. Okay. Thank you, >> Mr. President. I move we go to executive session with Mr. Myers and Mr. Sal present to discuss employee contracts pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception of the coat and the open meeting will
117resume at the boardroom at 2:42. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 5 Z. Okay, back in open session. We'll >> wait till she sit down. >> Just two minutes. >> Can I go through these then? >> Yes. >> Hold on just a second because I don't have I'm waiting on the document out. >> That's fine. >> Are you lost my paper? >> I don't know. I did with mine. So that's okay. We're done. pass. >> That work? >> Yeah. Okay. I make a motion to accept Christopher accept Christopher Ray's resignation effective the end of this school year 20 or 25. >> 256. >> Thank you. 25 26. Forgot what year it is. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 5. >> My second is not here today, so bear with me. I motion to
118approve Kayla Desit as the interimm FFA adviser for the remainder of this school year 2526. >> Second. All >> in favor? 5 Z. [clears throat] >> Motion to approve hiring Andrea Badger and Mr. Goldsbury as co-play sponsors for >> Somebody please tell me his name. I didn't have it, so that's why I didn't put >> Jim. Now that I'm I'm >> okay. >> I went with Mr. I just I just went with his last name because I looked on Facebook and couldn't find threw me for a loop. So I'm like his name and number second. >> All those in favor zero. >> Motion to approve offering a halftime contract to Kelly McNichols for the A department for the spring semester. 2526. Second. >> All those in favor? 5. Okay, we need one more um executive
119session with just Mr. Cells for about two minutes. >> Okay. >> 7B. >> Yes. >> Mr. President, I move we go into executive session with Mr. Cells present to discuss employee contract personnel and then the open meeting will resume in the boardroom at 246. 247. Second. All >> in favor? 5. All >> done with M. basis. >> Yes. I'll remind you, >> but not an open session, right? We don't need an open session for them to sign our office. >> Oh, no. That's that's just she has >> you have to you have to get that to the county clerk. But when the people who are being voted back, I just have you do it and I take it for you because they've got a deadline. I I sent >> I saw Natalie to her. >>
120No, just you, boys. Just you two. I sent Natalie's to hers to her. But you said since you guys were going to be here, I figured you could sign it and I'll take it in for you. >> Okay. >> It's got to be in like by the 17th, but it'll be in tomorrow. Or not tomorrow. It'll be in the next day because I'm not here tomorrow. >> Thank you, sir. >> Supposed to fill in US >> probably. I don't even know what it says. >> It's our elected office. That's where you That's why I thought >> just sign it and I'll fill the rest of it in. How's that? >> Okay. And then I'll get get a hold of Justin and let him know if he needs to come get his and get it done.
121>> Do we have a motion? >> We don't yet, but I would entertain one. >> I would move to second. >> All those in favor? 5 Z.
