All right, it is six o'clock, so we will call the meeting to order. I think there are any additions or changes to the agenda. It is as presented. >> Move to accept. >> Second. >> All those in favor. 70 [clears throat] consent agenda point on that. Anybody have any questions? >> I think the changes the look of the football field when you add more pictures to the other side. >> Does that's kind of interesting. Good. >> Got a lot of positive feedback. >> I'm sure. Yes. >> That's such nice. I wish we' have had that years ago. >> At least from the home fans anyway. [laughter] >> Talking about the visitors, but >> actually the visitors wanted to go over there when we were like, "No, they're broke. We don't want you to sit on

them. Let me know. We want to go over there anyway." >> Good. If they want to walk around in the football field, go for it. >> Well, I mean, that's most places to do that. >> I was to say that's what Jules used to be. That's why Pike Valley is in the way. They usually are on opposite sides of the field. Most of them just other schools. That's generally how it's done. >> Us county are about I think Washington. [clears throat] Is >> there a motion to approve the consent? >> Move to approve consent agenda. I second it. >> All those in favor 70. >> Sorry, I could have said a little quicker or a little later, but >> catch it right at the right moment. >> Uh any board member reports? Not aware of

any either. >> We're going to get the KSB. >> Yeah. Had a KSB state meeting here a few weeks ago. Um It's your annual. [clears throat] >> Yeah, there's several pieces coming up, but is that all under that training legislative um meeting the 16th and uh annual the K the KSB annual meeting uh schedule has changed a little. So I we can cover that under C but I'll bring >> um other than that lots of u lots of discussion around um uh the education funding task force and about the waitings. I don't know if you kind of watch that. I I don't get and that's not due till 27 and they they have to reauthorize that. But um lots of uh one of the things I think for all districts is small to watch is

at risk and low enrollment. I I don't see a I don't I'm not hearing in that discussion a threat to the the low enrollment waiting at this point. Um hope not. I do think there's a lot of discussion around at risk and right at risk funding's figured on um free reduced lunch count and that fig that determines our at risk waiting for each kid and they're looking they seem to be looking pretty hard to find an alternative to that using free lunches to consider kids at risk. So um other than that there's a lot of their political game. One one recently where they were talking about was the evaluation of the the value of CTE programs with the state spending on it. That was the last meeting and um [clears throat] how do you weigh

that uh you know what's how do you put a value on that? I don't I think that's that $50 million they spend well spent from what I see on our end. But um anyway, that's something that I know KSB is watching continuously is a task force of how they [clears throat] recommend we refund schools that formula. I don't see any I don't see any red huge red flags. Let's just see. No, I the makeup of the committee um I don't want to say concerns me, but um you know the the small school superintendent is at Jeff West, a suburb of Topeka um outside of uh Gats out west and Ericson in Witchah. Everybody else is pretty much east. Um, and so when I talked with our local legislators about it, I just told them that

that's my concern is that we can't forget about rural small schools. That rural schools make up 70% of our school districts in the state. And so they're basically they've said they're just they're going to look at every possible option. I appreciate that they've done that. We really don't know where it's going. But the new one, I don't see anything happening this legislative session um in January of 26 just because it's an election year. I think it'll probably be another year before that. They'll wait till that sun sets in 27. We also talk about our legislative priorities coming up and the formula, but the other one I I still keep in our speaking of small schools is the consolidation incentives. >> Um those don't exist for school districts. Um they they left when the two when

they uh reformulated in 2000 went to block granting block grant funding or it Yeah. And so not 2000 >> 2010 I think. Yeah. >> Uh and I think that does a disservice to a lot of districts in our part of the state that that was a that was that that incentive put us on a different path. >> That was huge for us. >> That is huge. and it allowed communities to have discussions and that incentive doesn't exist right now for schools even if they wanted to have that and so I keep hoping we can figure out in this process legislatively put that back into place that was a that was a good carrot that should that work so >> sorry >> good information all right we'll move on to discussion items item A is enrollment

numbers [clears throat] >> yeah these are all preliminary you know obviously our our our student count used for funding is the September 20th week, which technically September 20th weekend, so it'll be the the week of September 22nd, but I just kind of wanted to present it to you guys. And I actually put one on there that that you can so you can see the last four years and and the trend. Um we we did talking with Mr. Myers and Miss Keller that there was a family that today that came to pick up paperwork with seven kids. >> Seven kids, all on Um, >> so our numbers will be a little bit different before >> they are Hastings. Yeah. >> So our numbers will be a little bit closer to last year on that. >> What's

day? >> 20th. >> September 22nd. >> Um, you know, and when you look at the easiest thing to look at is just your incoming kindergarten versus your your graduating seniors. and we graduated a big class and our kindergarten was um smaller. But um I it is promising to see our number of prek kids this year compared to last year. Um so that's good to see as well. But I just wanted you guys to see that kind of have an idea where any questions or anything with it? >> No, I want to thank you for the four years. Yeah, that's >> now give us the next four. >> Yeah, [laughter] give me the next four years. I we will add it next month solidified sometimes. >> I would be curious to see this um in terms

of how the FTE has changed over the last so what what's our FTE count versus our enrollment count >> like you're asking with waiting on >> Yeah. Yeah. within wayment what what the waiting count would be in comparison. >> Well, that's gonna be there's a lot of I can try to provide some of that. Obviously, when you're looking at headc count, yeah, >> prek count for half. >> Okay. Um, and that's why you can see that on the total number versus the >> I'm just curious if there's a if we're seeing a big flux in that in the waiting formula as we see I mean did 20 students mean what's that mean FTE wise? No, that I'm just saying for >> the low enrollment waiting would that waiting will stay [clears throat] about the same

on our enrollment numbers some of the other waiting. >> Oh yeah, they all Yeah, we have we have that for every year, right? >> I can add to it and we can for next week or next week next month. >> Next week >> I don't think they really need them. They're all on the 15 >> superintendent evaluation. >> Th this was on there from last year and obviously with with my position first two years you have to do it twice. it's not necessarily as pressing but at the same time talking with Mark we like to kind of keep things similar so not everything comes at the same time so more or less right now just the discussion and knowing that follow that will >> you just have one to do this year and we have

until it's like March 15th or something to do it is that correct >> um I think needs to be done by December I think we did it >> had by November. That's what we have been having it done by November. >> He's had to have two a year in this year. >> I don't think we have to do the spring one. >> I guess I thought we had the full time to do the one, but >> well, >> not with his contract on his contract say >> contract discussionary. So, we tried to have it done. [clears throat] >> We got to where we we never did, but then we got to where we were trying to get it done before those discussions. and it's been working for three or four years now. So, >> well,

keep it on after >> keep that on the the radar. Probably the sooner we get started with it, the better for everybody. >> Want to send that using the same format. I assume >> kind of send that out to everybody. I would just go ahead and do it and that way we have the have the ball in everybody's court. >> Might have a little more time right now than later anyway. month. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um KSB district delegates. >> Is this appointing or is this just saying this is how it was and you need to appoint? >> We need to appoint. >> We need a motion. >> Oh, well then >> it's on your thing. >> Can you be one? Yes, you can. Can't you? Okay. I move to appoint Eddie and

Brandon. >> I'm the alternate. Correct. I believe >> Kenny or Brendon and Brendon. >> Yep. >> When is that? It's always a fall >> 11 >> November. >> Oh, that's the conference. I made it too last. >> Yeah. >> I don't think I'll probably go again, but I guess >> conference is the 14th, 15th, and 16th. >> It's incapacitated. I probably can make it out. >> I plan to I have to attend. uh that it is changed a little bit though and I I'm looking I'm looking at all of you not like it really is a great place to learn and talk to other district leaders and see what the school boards are doing the district showcase where they brought like you know 30 40 schools in of kids showing their projects what they're teaching

in their classrooms and and not just that just what projects are doing and you know it gave some great ideas on our spaces we're talking about just there's a lot of everything from superintendent evaluations to negotiations workshops to uh the Randy Watson always does a presentation on >> just uh the overall scope of education in Kansas and how well we're doing and state assessments >> it really is a good and and they changed the schedule so you could really do >> I used to live there >> Friday night Saturday till about three and catch 80% of the content Um, so you really could >> we and we have room. >> We have we have Yeah, >> the registration we had to get him not or might have back. >> We had uh the registration I

think we have till closer to the time to get the registration done. Rooms go just like that. We got rooms the first minute it came open. So we we we got several and then when it gets a little closer then we check and see if anybody needs rooms and then we release our rooms to someone in need or just release them back to the motel that we don't need. >> We currently have >> usually have 48 hours before it starts to >> if anybody wants to we've got rooms reserved and we can get registration. I realize we don't need >> you should. It's really good. I always learn a lot you guys get to listen to us. You can just come back and not have to listen to me and just say your own report.

>> Look at that advantage. >> Have to put that up. So, we're in trouble. >> But I need to get recorded. >> I will. >> Uh the other uh >> we have second. >> Yeah. Oh, we have. >> There's a motion on the table. >> Oh, second. >> All those in favor 70. go along with that. September 16th is the they do regional legislative meetings. There's one in boy that day. I might attend that and that's uh they kind of talk about the legislative prior their legislative priorities coming up. They also invite legislators in. Um there's half dozen schools there represented teachers in or no superintendent and school board doing at the NC 11 I think it's 11 to 1 11:3130 something like that as well >> and then the other one is they're doing

a board member training here in January >> yes boardmanship training it's it's really nice too that it's here and I sent all of you guys a calendar invite um a while back just if you're able to put anybody on your calendar we're expecting we totally had room for probably 60 to 80 people. So, we'll see what as it gets closer registration where we end up having it. >> Well, that I I just I just don't there's a lot as a board we as a member of KSB there's a lot of trainings and really good resources. You don't not some you don't even have to attend in person or um some Zoom trainings. I don't know. I'm assuming you get those emails with them, but the financial ones are always really good. I've Kellen Adams does

one every so often. He's a superintendent over at Wellssworth Ellenworth and just does a great financial overview if you've not seen that. But there's some other ones too. Also, newly elected uh board members can also attend because it's post election. If uh you up for election, that's you can still There's a process obviously they they can still register post election. >> Okay. >> And I believe the one that's here that we we don't have any charge for any of our people that attend. >> All right. Um state assessment update isn't an update. >> Yeah, we don't have an update yet. Um, you know, obviously with the state board of education, um, in the August meeting approved the new cut scores for all of our state assessments and and and so we were kind of told,

well, at least district level ones would be sent out. Um, they started by the end of August and then they said, well, maybe the next week. Well, we still haven't received all that stuff. ELA one came through about three o'clock today. So, I'll be able to have a lot more of that next month for you guys just to see where we're at. You know, the state the state reset, I guess for recalibrate be a good way to describe it that the current cut scores that they chose for levels one, two, three, and four in the state assessment weren't truly accurate with what it said it was registering, I guess, for lack of better words. There were level two was was considered um not meeting standard, but a level two on the state assessment equated anywhere

from a 20 or 18 to 22 on the ACT. Um they also looked at national um the date and some of the other um national norm tests um as well as just success rates the classroom had like a bunch of teacher else and trying to get it to where it's truly measuring what we want it to and so they they kind of feel like it's a a better representation of what it's supposed to score. I mean ACT resets their scores about every year. they've got a big enough um pool tool of data to know you can throw out a little bit of stuff. So, it' be interesting to see Dr. Watson when he spoke to us superintendents at Hutch a couple weeks ago said that they that they feel that if they're a level one

that they that should truly reflect tier three students and that by and large level two kids should represent your tier two kids and then three and four is your your tier one type students. So they feel like it's better aligning to that. So, we'll look at um and see how that where we're at. Um, as we've talked as a as a district, as a staff, but with any data set, I think it's important. It's okay to be where you're at. It's just not okay to stay where you're at. So, we'll look at that and figure out ways to improve as we continue to move forward. You know, strive the best we can, but we'll have more information next month once all that get released to us. So, we're supposed to get the district level data

anytime now and then they they thought by the end of September, early October, they would have more the building level individual results. So, this is just a we're small enough district that when it says third grade, we know it's our third grade where bigger systems third grade could represent seven or eight different elementary schools and four or five classes in each one. When we get all that, I'll kind of go through with a fine tooth comb and be able to find ways to make it relevant. They're also going to put a concurrence uh is what they're calling it report that shows what a new score how it relates to the old schools just to make sure that we connect the dots. So, it's a point of contention uh in Topeka as well. So, but I

I truly feel that it's better representing what the test is scoring. And last last year was the first year right where it was just 40 questions whereas two years ago they kind of it used to be a lot longer test. So obviously that changes things too. So there's a lot that went into changing those cuts. So >> I thought about that will be interesting to see that small district like ours. We'll see the impact. [clears throat] Probably easier than other districts. >> Okay. All right. [clears throat] Next. Uh gains over break. I don't know if that's >> Yeah. Well, >> you were saying, >> you know, I we talked about this a few months ago and and I guess as you kind of lay the groundwork, I mean, this is this isn't a board decision,

but I think it's worth you guys have a discussion being part of the conversation because you may get phone calls on that. So um you know as we talked about it last time that that we had that discussion we un you know the consensus I guess was we both understood both sides and so this part is kind of leave open for discussion for you guys on I believe the way that it's currently scheduled there's one on the 22nd of December the state required moratorum starts the 23rd and then the other two games are the 30th and 31st of December. So all the games are outside of the quesa required moratorum but it is during the Christmas break >> New Year's Eve game. >> How many regular season games do they have? >> And part of

the reason for this is because Quesa changed the rule this year where you could go from 20 to 23 games and to avoid playing Monday, Tuesday backto backs or Thursday, Friday backtobacks or anything like this. This is what the coaches wanted to do to get and and I think I mentioned it last time, you know, over break, we practice, practice, practice, practice, get a little rusty, get a little chippy, or play games. I certainly see both sides of it, and I'm not a basketball guy, so I kind of defer to the basketball coaches off >> when we lost the two Nebraska teams because of the shot clock deal. So, they were trying to find ice games, too, right? It wasn't just adding games. >> I thought that was part of the deal, which now >>

the shot clock looks inevitable. So, I wish we just stayed the same. >> I guess it some point we got to look at whether we're going to school for an education or we're going to school. >> I think you know the answer to that. >> Well, also over a Christmas break when I mean >> that against family >> that's when the the Mr. ourselves and I have had conversations about, you know, if you miss a practice over Christmas breaks, we tell families, take breaks during breaks or taking vacations during breaks. Um, miss practice, it's like, okay, no problem. But if you miss a game or we talking, all right, severe repercussions for it, you know, that's where we're kind of we're in. But this could turn out to this is the best that we don't

I don't you know, could be, oh, I can't wait for that Christmas tournament every year. I wonder if they're serving drinks on me or >> 9:00. >> Well, my concern is >> it's the punishment for the there we there are kids and I I had a kid like that that that time was the time in my parenting agreement is when I plan your plan my parenting time and uh so you have to figure out how to prioritize that and what And there were times that I had to work with the coach to for him to realize during those time, you know, we had to have an agreement that he wasn't going to be punished for exercising what he had been asked to do. >> Yes. That that was a pre-arranged system way before sports started.

So, I guess for me, >> that's my concern is those kids being punished. is part of a barometer of how stiff of a resistance the board of education has to this that I may need because like Mr. Michelle said this is not a worth decision, but if I feel that it is uh you're you're going to hear enough from your constituents and you are uh not comfortable with it, then I need to look at it further before because like I said, I defer to the coaches and the ad on this. They're I'm not a basketball guy. I I don't have a problem with games, but for kids that have other obligations, are they going to be >> It's the same concern we've already had previously with having practices over break. It's like if my kid

misses practice, but we're on a family vacation. Are they going to be penalized by not playing the next game or losing minutes or and you know I mean that there's always >> for the most part been reassurances that they won't but that you know >> at what point do you become not competitive and hurt your record for league tournament things like that if two or three starters are on vacation >> are we playing league games over this time? No, but it could postseason then I think that needs to be something that coach considers before schedule like that. That would be my thought. >> Maybe I don't be talking to his players. That's why I call games. But it's the punishment. That's really my only concern. So I don't I don't know what kind of feedback

you want us to have being >> I think we all kind of share that same concern. It's, you know, you're potentially cutting into family time when when it's supposed to be family time. And >> concerned that kids be punished if their parents choose to >> Would it be an acceptable um answer to have me um let the coaches know that if a player is not going to be at a game, just like if they're not going to be at the practice because of a family commitment, >> but this is over. This is an optional thing. It should not be held against them. And um but we would ask that the players and parents let the coaches know as far ahead of time as possible so they can prepare >> the kids. >> As a coach,

that's what I would want you going into. >> That's what the other kids if you lose because some of your good players didn't come kids get mad. That's where the punishment comes in. Not so much the coaches as everybody's mad at you for how do you control that? will remember >> the parents would let them know ahead of time and see the kids that are going to be there and the kids that aren't going to be there that they could be showing the kids that are going to be there. >> He's got a point there. >> There'll be a po there will be a pile of peer pressure to show up. [clears throat] No doubt about that. >> Oh, dude. It's high school. And there there will be, I would guess, some some resistance. You

know, I don't think it'll be a lot of people, but some people that have already scheduled things over break, and they're going to say, "What? Wait, this wasn't on the this wasn't [snorts] on the calendar, and you just throw this on there now, and we've added games, and we've already got plans." And, you know, it's there's there's, >> you know, in in addition to the parents letting coaches know way ahead of time, the school kind of has a little bit of an obligation to let parents know ahead of time. And it's >> and I and I can see when we put these on the calendar. They've been on there for >> several several months. >> Um >> when does school get out for Christmas and when we go back >> the 19th >> our last

day 19th it's the last day of school. The first day of that basketball tournament is the next Monday which is the 22nd. And then we are back on the the kids are back on the 6th. >> The following Tuesday. It's a PD. >> You were talking game on the 30th and 31st. >> And 22nd. >> Yeah. So you'd have a game on that Monday and then that following week you'd have a Wednesday, Thursday or Tuesday, Wednesday. How many practices throughout [clears throat] that time period? Well, >> most of the time the coaches practice um >> it's going to be the same amount >> pretty much every day. The only difference is >> instead of practice on the 30 and 31st, they would have game on the 30 and 31st. >> There's the the winter moratorum

says no contact with students the 23rd through the 28th. So there couldn't be any practices. >> So there's no additional anything. It's just are we going to practice today or are we going to play today and what are the repercussions if you >> Yeah, that's it's the Yeah, they get to place the practices, but it's the repercussions. >> I I completely see both sides of it and >> so pretty and we're on the the top of practice. >> It'll be >> Thank you. >> three games in the day of practice essentially. So there would be three practices on those days. >> Not if your games the 22nd, the 30, and the 31st. [clears throat] >> So what you're getting at is one practice day in between. >> Yeah. You only get one practice day like

for the 30 and 31st. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry. I saying >> I mean during that whole week you get it's either seven practices or three games, four practices. But the last practices after the 31st, like that's fine. It's just practices. But >> I Yeah, I can see how you prepare for the 22nd, but you have a practice on a Monday and then go play two games. I I I just what's I realize it could hurt league record, but what happens if we don't play games this? >> Does that count? Is there a minimum? Does it count against you? >> Probably practice those days. >> Yeah. >> Is it a forfeit? >> No. You just have it your winning percentage be taken out of 20 games versus the 23 month. >> I mean,

and and to be honest, and Mr. elves and I talked about this today. It it varies from year to year where if you've got a really good team and you want to pick up three extra wins so that you have a better record for that NPL tournament or if you don't have a great team, you got pick up three extra losses going into that tournament. Yeah, >> there there's not a right or wrong answer here. So, it's almost a gut um or say uh different factors that >> was there not other places to put those games >> like the Tuesdays or Saturdays. >> What about the Tuesdays in December? We're all >> We're all full on Tuesdays and Fridays. It's just all the other teams that have moved from 20 to 23 games picked up

games on Mondays or Saturdays. I think we played Redcloud on the 2nd last year, which was before we were back in session for school. >> Yeah. >> So, we were practicing the 30th, the 31st, the first any moment the coaches >> I I don't see I don't see a change in the number of anything. It's just practices versus games on those three on those two dates really because Yeah. >> Well, Mr. Myers and I can sit down with Mr. Duffy and having those conversations with the coaches um kind of let them know if I guess for like there's concerns about any repercussions if if there's plans and all that kind of stuff and kind of see where the coaches are on that too. But >> and I think you do need to just let any

potential parents know now. I mean, I I they may not be looking that far out when they're making their plans and be looking at >> they may not be expecting to look over that week to say, "Hey, I don't even think to look to see if that was a place I should before I book an airplane ticket or a trip or hotels or, you know, >> you wouldn't expect anything." >> Yeah. Not not a game. Yeah. So I guess that the notification and that be my thought. >> Okay, let's follow up with that. >> I guess we kind of just approach it as a one-year >> trial to see how the reaction is >> based on, you know, that some of those comments. I would almost send that out now to the parents because by

the next board meeting we may have a different discussion if we if you and me hear all kinds of um um input. >> You'd rather make that decision in October than November. >> I would rather make that decision immediately. >> Again, I don't know that I'm against the decision to have it again given alternatives. I just there are caveats to that that and like I said it's the punishment and not and knowing you know that's and I get [snorts] there's how do we treat this well we're obviously already treating it different anyway um otherwise we would have had these this has already been something that's already previously scheduled but >> it's just changed >> just change >> like I said >> it's not an uncommon practice around the state >> no and and it could

be where like I said everybody starts saying hey you know this Best thing in the world. I love these holiday tournament. >> I think it'd be a great fundraiser on New Year's Eve, right? >> I will not be the on duty that night. >> Better than Christmas. >> Yeah. >> And it this tournament does not get it before Christmas. That is the positive side. I see. >> But there are some other relatively local teams in the tournament. Washington County is one of them. Correct. I'm trying to think of who else. >> Okay. There's there's three Kansas schools and three Nebraska schools and they're kind of doing it as a state line shootout kind of bracketed thing. >> So New Year's Eve would be the final. >> Okay. I think you just saw you just see

teams and other places doing it and I think what like you mentioned you get tired of practicing each other and so if we're showing up if you know it's it's problematic anyway like you said you know over break but coaches want to have practice they want to be ready to go after break and like we're screwing around practice and we can just play a few games and you find three four five other teams that feel the same way that's just new for us. >> Okay. connect and information how to follow up next month. >> All right, moving on to facilities. >> Yeah, I just wanted to have this on there just to kind of get a little I guess input, feedback from those of you that were able to attend our um meeting on Monday,

but I felt like it went really well. questions questions were asked or I felt overall all in all it was really good meeting and the next one is next week >> Monday week and tonight. >> Oh it is >> is that just that committee? >> Yeah. >> When do you plan on having a public meeting? >> As soon as we finish that and we have people to help plan some of those meetings. I think they were was it towards the end of September? >> I think so. >> That's the goal anyway. Just trying to get the message clear. And >> when when we decide to have the big public meetings, forums or whatever, is that when we do that, is that kind of spearheaded and decided by Queens with their marketing teams. >> Maybe SPT

would would help. Okay. The architect firm help lead that. And my my goal is when it's time for that is that not have all of them in Mano, but have them in other communities um other than Mano, >> right? >> You know, maybe there's, you know, as Baroque area, have one over there, have one in Juul. Um just lack of better words to meet people where they're at instead of expecting everybody to come here for it. So, >> you guys have any other thoughts on it? >> I just think it's time to get a schedule in place like for 60 days or less. >> Oh, they've already got a schedule for when all that stuff's going to start. That's why they wanted to get these and get a kids committee set up and organized. >>

So they're okay >> for when they want to do it. I mean that was >> Yeah. The kids committee needs to get set and figured out. >> No, they've got two or three people signed up. >> When you say when they say kids that you mean actual >> children if you weren't there I would not know what they were talking about. >> I was thinking but you have your kids leaving tomorrow. You think Monday night they'll set their >> that's the goal Monday night is to is to go >> and what and I understand our our role is educational in that component. what's protoypical for this unit to go educate you. >> So, and that was kind of what we shared in August and and I can reshare that with you guys about better words

the dos and the don'ts. You can you can't do perspective >> from from a district perspective. We can provide information. >> We can't we can't >> have any type of yes or no campaign or anything else. It's just strictly providing information. >> But I also see when they do this that you know there are things scheduled to share that information piece like superintendent board members in partnership or whatever. Mostly superintendents go and start scheduling with chambers lions clubs and say hey I'd like to just share what we're doing. >> Correct. and that hopefully we have all that. We're still waiting to get some renditions and different things from the architect firm before we I don't want to show show a or have a half-prepared presentation if that makes sense. >> We got some brochures and

stuff they're going to make up for us which be nice. some of some of the delay or the pauses is I think they were wanting to take some of the feedback from the kids committee in developing the materials that they're so they listen to the committee say here's some of the questions we heard here's some of the concerns or whatever things that people want to know so those those are the kind of things that they would want to emphasize in the materials that are coming out so that they would be answering those people's questions that make sense to have a couple meetings with that group before that finalized information and presentations come out. >> Yeah. And there was a lot of good questions. >> There were and I thought that's I thought the questions that

were asked were going to be the ones that you're going to you're going to hear from no matter what group you're standing in front of. They were >> it was good. [clears throat] >> Okay. Well, as we get more in on that and >> good ideas on after that >> kids meeting on the 15th. >> What time is that? >> 5:30, was it? >> 6. >> That's what I have. It's >> so I think they're thinking about having sandwiches and something easier to work. >> I think they were probably looking for a few more >> folks. So if you >> well we just need to remind that list. >> I think that was a lot of it was there were probably several that were planning on coming and kind of just forgot about it. So

we need to figure out a better system of reminding people that is >> we talked to >> are we allowed to send out like a school reach or a >> certain he's got emails. >> I've got >> I would do text messages. >> Well and that's better than email. >> Agreed. I do me I do meetings like this all the time and I'm just telling you I I'll text him the night before and maybe four to six hours before that is not all of them have given his given text phone >> number flip side of it is there's a lot of people that don't check their email every five minutes I know my dad didn't so the only reason he knew is because I told him email and I sent him a text message said

hey by the way >> to you guys individually too if you have some of the cell phone numbers some of those on that Okay. Yeah. Well, as they >> Well, we're okay. We're okay to go even if there's more than >> three of us as long as we don't sit together and >> Yes. >> collaborate. >> Correct. >> I'm curious who all went last time. I don't I wasn't able to attend. >> Okay. Okay. >> I plan to attend the next one. All right, move on to action items. We have some motions to do here. The first one is to approve the budget as presented. And there's a specific motion. Um, Mr. President, I move to approve the budget as presented, noting that the needs assessment and state assessment review was used in helping to

determine this budget for the school year. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. Okay. Next one is >> um the next one is approval of the LOB resolution. [clears throat] What about >> be it resolved that the above name school board shall be authorized to make a local option percentage in the amount of 32.3% really percent >> for the 20 25 2026 school year um certificate this to certify that the above resolution was duly adopted by the board of education USDC 107 Joe Kansas on the 8th day of September. Second. >> All those in favor 70. >> That's taken verbatim from what the state sends us to use. >> Okay. Percent percent. Really? >> Yes, it is. Good lord. >> I'm like percent. >> Department of redundancy department. >> No. >> It was copied

and pasted. Well, one thing on I just say guys just to make sure too is you know we did not exceed revenue neutral and that's based on >> the taxes levy not middle number >> and had we had we exceeded your motion would have been like last year's where we had to take a roll call vote correct and it was a lot longer resolution >> this is just the state uh average >> I'm reading I read this as six a mill less Right. 65,000 less budgeted than last year. No taxes levy. Taxes levied. >> I think pretty close. >> Yeah. >> But if you look at mills, it went up because the valuation >> the valuation went down the same amount we had last year. >> So just so you guys I mean I a

lot of people that don't fully understand all that they look at the mills >> versus the taxes. And if somebody does ask because of valuation the meals go up just to make the same amount of money. >> But we levied 65,000ish dollars less this year. >> Correct. >> That's why we didn't exceed the revenue neutral. Yeah. >> Okay. Any other questions before we move on? All right. Um we have approval of a mowing contract and I think you have a copy of that contract. We talked about it last month. >> I called KSV and they said for one it was, you know, it's a service and so there's no need to um but from what I gather last time it was put out. >> Yeah. That it was um not many other option. Second. All

those in favor 70 or not. >> They got the Rams. [laughter] >> Um item D is a CKLS grant for $500. >> We get this, we've gotten this every year for about the past three or four years. And what they do is uh so that it they can get the best um out of it is one year the elementary uses it, the next year the high school uses it rather than splitting it each year. So this year I believe the high school it's their turn to use the money to get some books for resources for their library. >> Okay. >> I move to approve the CKLS grant $500. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. Um, okay. And then the final action item is uh approval to list the parsonage

which we also talked about last month. You have some information in your board packet regarding that. Yeah, that's what I was saying. >> The the um you know, if you remember, right, there's no legislation with keeping us from being able to do that if want to move forward with any other purchasing of something. There might be some other steps to go through, but for this, it's it's not an educational or instructional facility. So we can see what >> So do you have a price in mind or are we just I mean we have a we have a range >> we have a range but do we have a price in mind? >> I guess I up >> 20,000 range. >> I'm sure she'll get back standard protocol would be to start at 119. >> I

think that's the right way. >> Okay. I move to approve. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. >> Okay, that is the end of the action items. We're ready for executive sessions. You have a 7A, correct? >> No. Okay. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait. No, we do not have a >> Okay, so we'll do 7B, which is non-elected personnel. And what do you need? How much time do you want? >> I advance. I think Mr. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Uh, Mr. President, I move to go into executive session with Mr. Cells present to discuss employee contracts pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under com. The open meeting will resume at the boardroom at 6:55. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. >> Thanks, guys. >> I guess you guys a question. >>

Um, >> can we do these first? >> Yes, we can do these first. Uh, yes, we can probably do that, but we got some things we need to take a couple minutes. >> I move to approve Cheyenne. >> You can stay. You can stay in. We just We just We just need to do a little business first. >> Oh, fine. >> You're good. >> That's Alex. I move to approve um Cheyenne Castrip and Suzanne Ehart as co- junior class sponsors. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. >> I move to accept the resignation of Chris Ray as high school scholars bull sponsor. >> Second. >> All those in favor? 70. >> I move to approve Janna Coyle as high school scholar school sponsor. Second. >> All in favor? 70. exceptions. >> Okay. >> I

guess are you folks going to have uh public meetings orformational meetings uh about your call on the issue? >> Absolutely. >> Yes. >> Okay. That that was I get several calls. I said you really need to be calling you folks but >> and that's that >> I'm asking. >> Yes, we are. That's we are that's kind of what our discussion was earlier and we're all >> Sorry, I missed. >> No, you're okay. We're we're all kind of about as antsy as you are to start getting some of that information out. There's just a few steps that have to take place before we do that. And part of that is we we've got a committee of community a smaller committee of community folks that are going to be kind of working on helping get that information

out. So it's not all of us. >> Yeah. So, and so that that committee that committee had one meeting last week and they're going to have another one uh on a week from today and following that meeting there should begin to be some information coming out and there will be information in the forms of brochures, mailers, there will be community meetings and we're we're hoping to be able to do meetings in in more than one community >> so we so people don't have to come >> to us here. Um, so yeah, I we're hopeful that we'll be getting good information out and it will be answering a lot of questions. Um, it's but it the the process takes a little bit of time to get there and so we're kind of asking for grace and

patience until we can get that all together. >> Think by the end of the month you'll be having information? >> Yes. >> Awesome. >> I think I think so. We there will be information coming out prior to the end of the month whether it's the community meeting then yet or not. I'm not positive on that. >> We haven't set those dates until Monday. I think >> the short answer we want to get as much information, good information out as quickly as possible, but we also want to do it the right way. So, and the right way is letting that committee do it and not seven board members going around talking to everybody divvying it out that way. So, >> that was just brought up. you know, the concerns that have been expressed like I said

we're going to have any public information. I that's why I'm here to ask >> the answer is 100% yes. >> Okay. >> There will be as much transparency and information on it as we can possibly do. >> I'm glad to hear that transparency. >> No, 100%. >> Okay. All right. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Thanks, sir. Um can we do one more for five minutes under um same same thing Pete Y. >> Yes. >> Sorry. >> Uh Mr. President, I move we go into executive session with Mr. elves present to discuss employee contracts pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception on a coma and the open meeting will resume at the boardroom at 7:05. >> Second. >> All in favor 70. >> Not yet. >> There you go. >> Just a little

second here. >> Is that everything? >> That's everything on the agenda. I know. Look at the time. What am I going to do in front of the three hours? >> Would you like to say make the next one an hour and a half longer? We can do that. >> I can bring you a pillow next time. But >> trust me, we're going to get to see enough of each other in a few months the way it is. So >> 6 PM on Monday. >> I would move to ajourn. Second. >> All those in favor? 70
