of Chrisman wrestling for that and then a moment of silence after. >> I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. [clears throat] All right. Thank you. Uh, first up is discussion and possible action to approve the board meeting minutes dated February 3rd, 2026. Get a motion. First, >> uh, I motion. >> Second. >> First and second. All in favor? >> I. >> All right. That brings us to construction update. Amber Bortis and Bob Lawson. President Davis, members of the governing board, tonight's presentation align under [clears throat] priority area of effective operations and systems. The business and operations team is continuously trying to improve facilities and tonight's presentation focuses on improving uh Chrisman High
School which is located in the southern portion of our district. Um for an overview of Queen Creek, uh we are 48 square miles. Up to the northern portion of our boundaries is Warner Road and we serve um students all the way down to the southern portion of our boundaries which is Empire. We currently serve 15,600 students and continue to grow. For planning purposes, we do look at our district in three regions. We typically uh talk about our district in the northern, the central, and the southern portion of our district. Tonight's presentation's focused on Chrisman High School, which is located in the southern portion of our district. It currently serves about 2200 students and continues to grow, and this project is to help support that growth. At this time, Bob Lawson's going to talk about that
project and what we can expect. >> Thank you, Amber. Good evening, President Davis, members of the governing board. Um, as we mentioned in our uh update last month, the construction plans for this access road and the uh roundabout for that intersection are now complete. The plans have been reviewed and approved by the town of Queen Creek and also the Queen Creek Irrigation District. The irrigation district will start the relocation of their irrigation piping on March the 8th and this will be completed by March the 19th. Our contractor for the project will start the road construction phase on May the 22nd after the graduation is completed and then that work will be completed by July 17th. Later in tonight's meeting, the board will be asked to consider action on the approval of an easement for the
irrigation district's relocation of their water line. And during the entire irrigation and road construction work, that access road to the northwest of the stadium that leads away from Chrisman up to Cloud Road is will be closed for the work uh just because the extensive amount of construction that'll be going on. And with that, that concludes our update for tonight and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Thank you. Any questions? All right. >> It it that uh on that one slide that was up there. It showed the uh it it's just northwest of the stadium entrance. That gate that leads in from that point just a little bit north of that all the way to Cloud Road will be closed because they're going to be doing quite a bit of work in there paving as
well as curb and gutter. And then that roundabout's going to be very ext uh extensive. I know that they're going to have uh u access during the construction obviously uh for the cloud road. They'll have to leave that open for the community to still use that road. >> So Patty, it's kind of the road that's on campus. So it won't affect the public. It just affects the students coming off campus. But most don't use that one. They use the other roundabout. Yeah. >> Right. >> All right. Thank you. That brings us to our superintendent report. Dr. Perry Berry, >> President Davis, members of the board, community members, thank you guys for being here. I have a superintendent report that I share through the five priorities within our strategic plan. And I'd like to start with
effective operations and systems. Um, our business uh services team recently hosted two community financial meetings to provide transparent updates on district finances and ensure that our community understands how our tax dollars are directly support our classrooms and student achievement. These presentations reinforce commitment to fiscal responsibility, operational transparency, and ensuring that the majority of our resources remain focus where they belong in direct support of students and teachers. We are proud to continue operating as fiscally responsible, low-risisk district that prioritizes longterm sustainability. Priority two is safe and healthy environment. And through our student uh or I call it a superintendent student advisory committee, students recently participated in a taste testing potential lunch menu items here at the central office right out here. This initiatives reinforces student voice and decision-making in our district and supports our commitment to
nutritious appealing meal options. Creating a safe and healthy environment extends beyond facilities. It includes ensuring students feel heard, valued, and part of the process. And I want you guys to take a quick look at this video. It's pretty cool. Okay. You're welcome. [music] Oh my. >> Uh, I like the blue better. >> Red. >> Blue. [music] >> I like red. It has like a lot of flavor and it's tastes really good. [music] >> I think they were all super good. Like I want them all. [music] >> The blue I don't know. I just feel like it's too juicy and soft. >> I think it's really good. I really like it. [music] What you didn't see in the video is prior to that, uh Quincy and I took the student advisory council on a field trip
where we got to go see our transportation department, the um ed services department. Just took her around the district to see all the the um support services departments that don't often get credit, but really instrumental in running a good district. And so I thought it was a good good way for them to appreciate all the things that go on behind the scenes. So it was a lot of fun. I'd like to thank Jessica Hottler for putting on that testing event, too. Give Jessica a real quick round of applause back there. [applause] Priority three. Um, one thing that we value in our strategic plan is effective partnerships. Community partnerships remain one of Queen Creek's greatest strengths. This month, we hosted another business partner breakfast, bringing together local business leaders who actively invest in schools and students.
These relationships strengthen work uh workforce pipelines, mentorship opportunities, and real world learning uh connections. Let's take a quick look at this video. Thank you guys for being here. We do this four times a year. [music] I get to see a bunch of friends both in the school district and with the other businesses every time I come to a business breakfast. [music] And so it's a great uh way to get to know other people, get to see other people, get to rub shoulders with them. We've got questions, we've got answers, and [music] then it's just a great uh rah rah for the school district. [music] >> I'm not really familiar with other school districts that do something as special as this. So, uh, they showcase everything in the the school district that's going on from a
business perspective, but also allows partners like ourselves to come here, uh, network with different people that are working with Quinn Creek. One of the the main goals for this event is for you to network, and I can tell you've done a good job with that already. And the second thing is for you to just kind of have a good time learning about our district. That's what one of the things that makes Queen Creek unique. He's not the only district that does this type of thing, but I'm very proud to be a parent of kids in this school district and a superintendent serving so many schools that foster the whole child. >> It was wonderful to get to see how Queen Creek is creating leaders for the future. Additionally, Queen uh the the school district and
school representatives, I think it was the very next day, participated in a day at the Capitol advocating for our students in public education alongside state leaders. Engagement at the state level ensures Queen Creek's voice remains strong in policy conversations that directly impact our schools. We had several staff members there. Here's a quick picture of uh the Silver Valley staff and students, and we got a great tour of the the House of Representatives. And last week, our uh schools hosted across the district career day with help from our partners and community members shared their career paths and advice with our students from elementary school through the high schools. The next priority is exceptional personnel. Doesn't matter how good your systems are, it's really the quality of the people in the systems that make your school district
great. And Silver Valley Elementary recently earned an A+ rating from the Arizona Department of Education, reflecting consistent instructional excellence and student performance. Let's give Silver Valley a big round of applause. [applause] This school is a proud lighthouse school. Silver Valley represents leadership, innovation, and true commitment to student- centered learning. These are the recognition highlights of caliber of professional serving on our students every day across the district. And then the last and the final priority in our strategic plan is student success. Um, our students continue to excel at the highest levels. Queen Creek High School cheerleaders and Pomies are are a staple on the sidelines of football and basketball games and community events. However, they also train and compete at regional and national events in various divisions throughout the season. The school's cheer and palm programs
travel to Anaheim, California to compete in the USA Spirit Nationals that that brings together hundreds of schools throughout the country uh for cheer song and palm and mascot teams from across the nation. and Queen Creek High School stunt group cheer vars in varsity show cheer both earned national championship title and extraordinary accomplishment that reflects discipline, teamwork, and competitive excellence. Let's give them a big round of applause. [applause] Up at Eastark High School, a female wrestler, Bryley Cowell took home the state championship. This is her second consecutive individual state title. We would have she could not make it tonight. who would have got got her up here and recognized her, but she couldn't make it tonight. Also like to recognize the Chrisman High School boys wrestling team who earned a third place finish in the division
three with five athletes placing in the top six in their respective weight classes. And then uh in attendance tonight is our Chrisman girls wrestling team. Please stand and turn around and be recognized. girls. [applause] The the Chrisman uh team before you captured the division three state championship title. These athletes, Roxy Robinson, Tylie Peterson, Madison Myella were crowned individual state champions and they are here with us this evening and I just want to thank you and your coaches and your parents for all the good work that went into this championship. Congratulations. And that makes us very proud. [applause] And that concludes my superintendent report. >> Yeah. We'll take a picture of your group in the back during like after the students of the month. Does that sound good? Okay. All right. That brings us to the
employees and the students of the month. Um employees first and then we'll go with the students. And I apologize if I mispronounce anyone student or teachers or employees names tonight. The power of one awards are given during the board meeting each month to selected recipients at each school. For this award, a person is selected from among those eligible who has clearly demonstrated the outstanding qualities and efforts in making a difference that we look for in our Queen Creek schools. We would like to invite up the following individuals that were selected from East Mark High School. Chris WCBA, [applause] Alicia Lacant, [applause] Rosa Mononttoya, [applause] and Andrea Johnson. [applause] We would now like to ask Principal Webb from East Mark High School to say a few words about how these individuals were selected. >> Is this
my good? >> Yeah, that I think. Is it green? >> Can you guys hear me? >> Good evening everyone. Uh so my name is Chris Webb. I'm the principal at East Mark High School. Uh one of our goals at Eastark is to always try and make decisions that are in the best interest of kids. We want to do great things for kids. the individuals that are standing next to me really lead the way on that in multiple facets throughout our campus. Uh between building clubs, supporting clubs, bringing students into their classroom for extra support, all of them do great things and even outside of the classroom with our booster club and PTO. So really, this is just an example of what we want to do for our kids, what they do do for our kids.
And I want to say thank you on behalf of ESARK for everything that you guys do. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. Oh, and if you guys would go to the back of the room for pictures, that would be great. All right, we would now like to invite the following individuals that were selected by Krisman High School. Abby got [applause and cheering] Karina Quintterero, [applause] Sunshine Brown, [applause] and Sergio Espinosa. [applause] I'd now like to invite principal Elise Torbert to come on up and say a few words about these individuals and how they were select. >> Nope. >> Try again. >> Okay. At least I don't have to lower a mic, right? Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much." Tonight we celebrate four indiv extraordinary
individuals whose lives um live out this truth every single day at Chrisman High School. Individuals whose kindness, integrity, ownership, and commitment have made a profound and lasting impact on our Chrisman High School community. The power of one award honors those who embody our district's core values of kindness, respect, integrity, service, and commitment. Each of tonight's honores not only upholds these values, they elevate them. They remind us that one person showing up with heart and purpose can truly change the tra trajectory of a school community. These four individuals do not work for applause. They work because they believe in students. They work because they care about people and they work sorry because they understand that one person's effort can ripple outwards in powerful ways. As my Angelo so beautifully said, people will never forget how you
made them feel. Abby, Karina, Sunshine, and Sergio. That through your leadership, your service, and your kindness, you make our students, staff, and families feel supported, valued, and inspired. Thank you for showing us the true power of one. [applause] Thank you. And if you guys could also meet at the back of the room for pictures, we will be back there in just a minute. All right. The student of the month award recognizes and promotes the success of QCUSD students. Recipients are chosen based on the characteristics identified in the PBIS program such as be kind, be respectful, and show integrity. The student of the month student is conscientious and exhibits a determination to learn while demonstrating these positive traits. We would like to invite the following students from Eastark and Chrisman High School who are examples of
these characteristics for this recognition. Libby Martin, [applause] Madison Kaios, [applause] Sereha Childs, [applause] and Canon Crockett. [applause] Congratulations to you four and thank you all for being such great examples in our classrooms every day. We would now like to invite you back to the room back to the back of the room for pictures as well. Thank you. We're going to take a quick break for pictures. Oh, not anymore. Okay. All right. We're going to go ahead and resume our meeting with our call to public. We'll just wait a second. All right. Okay. Individuals who wish to address the board are requested to complete the appropriate form prior to the meeting and give the board secretary. Members of the board may not discuss items that are not specifically identified on the agenda. Members of the board
are also not able to comment even if the information is incorrect. Therefore, pursuant to ARS 38-431.01H, action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, responding to any criticism, or scheduling the matter for a future agenda. The board requests that all comments be limited to three minutes or less and that the public refrain from the use of speech or language that is offensive or inappropriate pursuant to policy 1-302. In the event that there are more than five requests to speak, the time will be limited to one and a half minutes for each comment. The board president also reserves the right to limit discussion whenever he or she deems such action appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting. Right. We have one blue card tonight. And
um Noah James Markham. Aloha. Uh is this working? Is this working or whatever? Is it working? Okay. Aloha. Um I miss President. Oh, it's the girl a lady. Um and to the rest of the school board members of Queen Creek. My name is Noah James Markham. I would like to talk about the protests going on in Queen Creek with keep ICE out of our schools and I hear you as a strong Democrat and I hope Queen Creek follows the kids that are actually standing up for what's right. I have an issue when I hear if the students went out for a protest then the students went out then they were gonna get punished with an unexcused absence that is unacceptable as a governing body. I want to make sure that all schools in Queen Creek
that have special education kids with disabilities that they never get rejected accommodations at school. That's how people with disabilities learn. I also hope that you guys talk more about the Japanese concentration camps that have happened in Arizona because that is something that should have never happened in America. kind of what Donald Trump is doing with ICE Asians. My last concern is if Mormons have seminary classes, they should keep it in the class, but the public school in Queen Creek must always ha talk and have DEI policies, diversity, equity, inclusion. That is what makes the public schools stronger and greater with these policies in Queen Creek Unified School District. Mahalo and thank you for listening tonight. >> All right, that's our only call to public. That brings us to consent agenda. I can take this in
its entirety. >> I move to take the consent agenda in its entire >> I have a first >> first and second. All in favor? I I >> President Davis. >> Yeah. >> Was that the consent agenda? >> Yep. >> Okay. Sorry. Never mind. >> Okay. All right. That brings us to action items, discussion, and possible action to approve the easement between the Queen Creek Irrigation District and Queen Creek Unified School District. Amber Bordis, >> President Davis, members of the governing board, you heard more um about this earlier this evening during the construction report, but this um five foot wide utility easement grants the irrigation district necessary access and use rights to support its irrigation infrastructure while outlining conditions to protect both parties interests. Approval and recording of this easement is required in order to begin
the road completion at Krisman High School, which will provide an additional exit to Cloud Road and improve the site access, traffic flow, and overall safety for students, staff, and the surrounding community. We're recommending approval of this easement. Any questions? All right, I can take a motion. >> I move to approve the easement between Queen Creek Irrigation District and Queen Creek. >> First, do I have a second? >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> I I >> All right. Personnel. I can take this in its entirety. >> I move to take personnel in its entirety. >> Second. >> First and second. All in favor? >> I. >> President Davis. >> Yep. >> And members of the board with the uh passage of the personnel section section. You guys just approved the brand new senior
executive assistant that will replace Quincy. And uh she's in the crowd. This is Katie Brown. I wanted to introduce you to Quincy's replacement. >> Yeah, >> you didn't have to show up tonight, but thank you for coming and uh showing face, but we're very excited about um you coming in. And Quincy and I have worked together for 10 or 11 years, and you got some big shoes to fill, but we're excited to have you. >> No pressure. >> Welcome. All right, with that brings us to executive session. Um, pursuant to ARS 38-431.03A7, the board may vote to convene an executive session for the purpose of discussion or consultation with designated representatives of the public body in order to consider its position and instruct its representatives regarding negotiations for the possible sale of real property owned
by the district. >> Take a motion. >> Move to convene to executive session pursuant to ARS 38431.0387. person. Second. All in favor? >> I All right. All right, welcome back. Um, upcoming board meetings. Tuesday, March 17th, 400 pm special session. Um, Tuesday, April 7th, 4:30 study session with a six o'clock regular session. Tuesday, May 5th, 4:30 study session. 5:30 retirement and years of service reception with a six o'clock regular session. Our calendar of events, March 9th through March 20th is spring break. March 26th is the cafe. March 27th is the realtor breakfast. March 27th is also the volunteer lunchon. And April 3rd is Good Friday and we have no school. With that, I will take a motion to adjurnn. >> First, first and second. All in favor? >> I right. Thank you and good.
