want me to explain even though the high school won states, that's it because not the North Carolina School Library Association is a state. That's the association that the media coordinators follow up under. So, we this is it. So, there there's not a national competition. But we're proud of them. Thank you. >> [applause] >> Congratulations again to all our Battle of the Books winners. Next up, we have Beta State Conference recognition, Dr. Deborah Dallas. Thank you. Okay, so the presentation. >> All right. And then we'll call you back up, okay? Good evening, Chairman Britt, Superintendent Williamson and board members. We are excited to share that we had several PSRC students earn top awards during the Beta Club State Convention at the Joseph S. Curry Convention Center in Greensboro. Students from various schools within the district competed
virtually with other students across North Carolina for top awards in various categories. The events included team competitions and individual showcases. All students who placed at the state convention events now have the opportunity to compete at the national beta competition in Nashville, Tennessee this summer. So, we're going to start with Deep Branch Elementary School. Miss Kinley Hunt was the first place winner in the jewelry elementary category. From Fairgrove Elementary, we had Enrique Maldonado Badillo was the fifth place winner in the painting elementary category. And those are the students that we will bring in to celebrate when they win at nationals. So, we'd like to thank all of our beta sponsors. They put a lot of work and energy into their clubs. And we'd also like to thank all of our teams and our students. Thank you. Let's give them a round of applause. >> [applause] >> Craig. Mr. Craig Lowry. Thank you, Dr. Dallas. And um I don't know who it would be, but now this all occurred when we had the cancellations and the snow. So, everything that was sent in I think was like virtual or had to be sent in some way. So, all of that was
done that way. So, if there's some way folks down here can send something back to the schools. I know the other ones might have sent things in and they didn't win. But just thanking those sponsor sponsors cuz this is probably harder to do than actually going to Greensboro. And um so, we're appreciative of what happened if we can just thank them for what they did to get this recognition for the students. Thank you. I agree. Thank you, Mr. Craig. Uh next up we have April Impact Award staff recognition, Mr. Jamal Campbell. If I can't have all of our board members to the podium again? >> [clears throat] >> Good evening, chairman Britt, that Williamson County School Board members. I am here tonight to recognize the April Impact Award recipients. Our as recipients exemplify district's one
team, one goal model. These individuals work collaboratively to to cultivate a supportive and thriving school environment. We want to thank Mr. Austin Jacobs and Chick-fil-A for sponsoring this month's gifts gift cards. Also want to thank Mr. Brandon Mentor and Sign City for sponsoring our plaques. So, tonight we want to first recognize our classified Impact Award recipient coming from Red Springs Middle School, Ms. Sharron McLain, data manager. Come up, please, at this time with an applause. >> [applause] [sighs] >> The Public Schools of Robeson County probably honors Ms. Sharron McLain, data manager at Red Springs Middle School as the district's April classified Impact Award recipient. Principal Joyce Brown praised Ms. McLain for her critical role in maintaining accurate and accessible student data that supports daily operations and instructional decisions. She is dependable, detail-oriented, and consistently provides
timely information that helps guide planning and school improvement. Her professionalism and willingness to support others also contribute positively to the school's overall culture. As a district, we celebrate and honor Ms. McLain for the powerful difference she makes each day. Thank you so much. >> [applause] >> We want to invite Ms. McLain's family to take a picture. >> [cough] [clears throat] >> Our certified Impact Award recipient comes from D. Lum Junior High School, Ms. Pauline Shin, music teacher. And please um that Watson, please escort her to the front, please. >> [applause] [sighs] >> The district recognizes probably recognizes Ms. Pauline Shin, music teacher at at D. Lum Junior High School as the district's certified Impact Award recipient for the month of April. Principal Dr. Jermaine Watson said that she is recognized for her exceptional dedication to
students and the school community. She goes beyond her role by supporting students academically and personally, including helping with English language development and tutoring in math. A constant and reliable presence on campus, she contributes to school events, supports colleagues, and mentors students. Her positive attitude and commitment to student success make her a highly valued and impactful member of the school. As a district, we celebrate and honor Ms. Charlene for her powerful difference she makes each day in the lives of her students, colleagues, and school community. Thank you, Ms. Charlene. If you have any family, please come This time to take a picture. >> [laughter] >> Congratulations. Congratulations. >> [applause] [clears throat] >> Congratulations again to those monthly Impact Award winners. Um next up on the agenda is child nutrition administrative review, Mr. Bobby Locklear. So, good
evening. Excuse [clears throat] me, Chairman Britt, Dr. Williamson, board members. If I can at this time, I'd like to call Ms. Charlene Locklear, Ms. Crystal Hunt to come up here and at least stand beside me while we we spend a few minutes talking about our administrative review. So, approximately about about every 5 years, our child nutrition program goes through an administrative review. And leading up to this, Ms. Charlene and her staff are extremely stressed, and I just try to tell them, "Hey, we're going to be all right." They're only going to be here for 1 or 2 days, and and we'll make them feel at home like we always do in Robertson County. But again, just want to highlight what occurred during their 2-day visit with us. Ms. Charlene and her staff did an outstanding
job showing them around the four schools that they were able three or four schools they were able to visit this school year. So, prior to the visit, Ms. Charlene and Ms. Erica and her department as well had to submit our procurement overview of how we obtain food and other source other services in our child nutrition department. That went by with flying colors. So, your packet, I do want to highlight that the administrative review is designed to monitor compliance with federal and state regulation and policies of the State Board of Education that govern the operation of the child nutrition program. So, also in that second paragraph there, I think this is important as well. It says, "It is important to note that some of the findings occurred in a single school and were not identified as
a systematic problem." So, a lot of the issues when we went through our exit review and we were able to talk with the team that was able to visit us, that they were very complimentary of Ms. Charlene and her staff. Not only her staff at the district office, but also the the folks that we have in the building that are serving our children every single day. Cuz as many of us know that a lot of the kids that come through our door, that may be the only the two meals that they only receive see that day. So, just to highlight some of the findings that they had, they visited they had conversation with central office. They also visited Fairgrove, Littlefield, Pembroke Middle, and Pernell Sweat. So, they did not find any findings at Littlefield, and
I told them the reason for that is Mr. Hamilton probably talked them out of it or didn't let them allow allow them to fully go through the cafeteria. But no, one of the things they did say about Littlefield was although it was a brand new manager, I think it started in December. Yes, that the cafeteria did not miss a beat. There were absolutely no findings within the cafeteria, and again, that goes to the training that Ms. Charlene and her staff are able to provide to those folks out in the field. So, again, I'm just going to hit some of the things that they were able to find at the schools, but Ms. Charlene and her staff were able to immediately correct those. So, at Fairgrove, our cafeteria manager had not been in place in months,
but the staff did not allow that to impact their ability to serve the kids food. But one of the things that they did suggest to Ms. Charlene and her staff talk to at Fairgrove was just improving the efficiency in some of the operations within the cafeteria, but no findings there. Again, as I've stated, Littlefield, Mr. Hamilton talked them out of everything there. Pembroke Middle was just some design issues, kind of moved the cashier around so that they had better view of the food that was leaving the cafeteria. Lastly, at Pernell Sweat, that was some some findings were of items that may have should should have been kept a little bit warmer or that were not accounted for for the day before. But again, as we sat there, Ms. Erica and Mr. Hugh were part of
our exit interview as well. The team that came down from DPI were again extremely complimentary of Ms. Charlene, the folks that she has in our office, and the folks that we were able to go out to the schools and visit. So again, I believe that this is again a reflection of the hard work that our child nutrition department displays every single day. And again, I cannot thank these ladies enough and her Ms. Charlene and her team for the work for they do for the 20,000 kids in our district. >> [clears throat] [applause] >> Hold on. Hold on, Ms. Charlene. Yes, sir. I want to I want to echo the same thing to Ms. Charlene, her staff, and team. Thank you so much. Leadership matters, and every single day you feed kids probably, in some cases,
maybe the best meal that they get. So, the importance of that. And then, Erica, a lot of individuals do not realize, Craig, you do, it's enterprise. In other words, no funding. Right? Talk about that if you would for a minute. Yes. You don't want to Right. Good evening, Chairman Britt, Superintendent Dr. Williamson, and board members. As Dr. Williamson indicated, the child nutrition program is an enterprise fund, so all the funds that they receive are what they use to implement their program. And as we've said many times at this meeting, at principals meetings, um the participation of our children is key to the success of this department. We are entirely free for students for breakfast and lunch through the community eligibility provision program with the federal government, where we get reimbursed. So, we do meal counts
and get reimbursed at the federal rate for meals that are provided to children. So, our participation rate funds this program. I thank you for the opportunity, board members and superintendent. Um we do just try to do the right things every day. Uh my team in the office helps to lead and guide our children and or to our adults in helping them to be in compliance with the policies and procedures of the program. Again, um like Ms. Erica said, our funding comes straight from the children. You know, and I want our staff and us to appreciate those children coming in to the cafeteria on a daily basis because without them, you know, we wouldn't have a program. So, my goal is to make sure that, you know, we are offering those children a nutritious and healthy
meal each day. Ms. Charlene, one more thing, sir. You're doing such an excellent job. I hope this summer you catch a 10-pounder. >> [laughter] >> Thank you, sir. >> Hold on. Hold on, Ms. Charlene. We got a couple board members that want to make comments. Dr. Emanuel. I have a question, and this is Bobby, did I hear you say at Fairgrove the uh person in charge had been out? They were What did you say about that? >> had been out on medical leave. >> Oh, okay. >> we had a PIC in that place. I did try to contact DPI to get them to choose another school, but they insisted that, you know, we would stick to the Fairgrove, and the lady we had in place was able to provide us all the documentation, and she
maintained that documentation on a daily basis to show that all of our meals were reimbursable and the accountability of the students coming through the line are the children that we are getting reimbursement for. But Go ahead, Dr. Emanuel. You do anticipate this manager coming back. >> She's already back. >> Okay, thank you. Yes, ma'am. You good, Dr. Emanuel? Yes, sir. I'm Mr. Craig. Uh thank you, Chairman Britt. Ms. Charlene, I'm so glad you spoke because I was going to have you to speak. Now, Ms. Crystal, I won't call on you. I know that's what you were thinking. Uh but folks, as you know, I did this or tried to do it, and these two ladies was in the office then and uh I can't tell you how helpful they were. But let me just give
you an indication of the stress. Uh we were at a review and I'll never forget this. They had weighed us ham and they come back and it was off 2/10 of a gram. Let me say that again. 2/10 of a gram. And now 2/10 of a gram is almost nothing. And uh DPI was sitting next to me and I think I'd been doing it about 6 months and I said that's nitpicking. That was my comment. They didn't say a word. Well, about an hour later she said, "What kind of nitpicky are we?" I said, "Well, I think you are." >> [clears throat] >> But but but anyway it is very stressful when they come down from DPI cuz it's one thing we say, "They're going to find something." But if you read this review knowing
what they look for and what they what they're down here to do and it's their job uh is outstanding and again we thank you. Miss Charlene and Miss Crystal, thank both of you for what you do. And the other ladies and gentlemen in the office also. But thank you. Thank you, sir. >> [applause] >> Thank you again, Miss Charlene and Mr. Bobby. Next up we have title six grant application updates, Dr. Connie Locklear. Good evening, Chairman Britt, Superintendent Williamson, and board members. Dr. Emanuel. Um Mr. Chair Yes, sir. Yes, ma'am. May I make some comments? Sure. Um Several of us uh Mr. Craig, uh Mr. Wood, myself attended the public hearing last night and I want to commend their staff. They had over 300 people there to review the grant as it was presented and
the bulk of her that grant, 80% or more goes for staff and then they the staff what they work on improving outcomes and academics and cultural awareness. So um they their funding was cut and they lost two positions. In other words, what I'm trying to say, unless anyone has any questions do you need this to be moved to an action item to approve it? Yes, I'll need an action item to approve it. Um >> Yes, ma'am. I I would like to make a motion to move this to an action item to approve it to approve it unless someone has some more questions. Mr. Craig. Second it. You second it? Mhm. Mr. Chair. I was just going to ask them this question for the administration. Um given where we are with the uh with the recognition
of the of the tribe, um that opens some new opportunities for the tribe in terms of uh of this grant. And I was wondering are we in any sort of conversation with them about the advantages of um of creating partnerships uh with them in terms of uh of trying to keep these funds uh within the uh with within the district. Dr. Herndon is uh representative of the tribe and help me to remember, I think there's an ongoing conversation the state board uh this month heard the disaster report. Uh those recommendations that's in the developmental stage. And so the answer to your question, once that work is done, yes, the the intent is for that to happen. Okay, so what um what kind of contingency plan or are we um in discussions about developing a contingency
plan for um for the the Indian Ed program with within the district if the tribe chooses to um uh to to go that route with the um with the federal government? Go which route? So based on my understanding, the tribe will actually have um the right to apply for this grant independently. So it may impact our um our title six funding moving forward. So and if that happens, then it's going to have a huge impact on the the program that we have in the district right now. So um what would the contingency plan be um if if that was was to occur? So if you're asking if we would be able to um if we did not receive the grant, replace those funds um we're going to have a budget meeting and so I'm not
sure how to answer if that's your question at this point. I again, I think probably mindful now when we have those kind of conversations, we're talking about 80% of this money people employed. >> Right. Okay. So if I think it's important for us to plan for those sorts of of things because um if those um this could happen fairly fairly quickly if if that's the case. So let's just keep it on our uh keep it on the forefront. Thank you, Mr. Chair. Mr. Craig. I got a question now cuz Mr. Chair, I wasn't aware that Dr. Connie and are you aware that they could apply for this as separate from our school system? I do know with the federal recognition the tribe has the um capacity now to apply for Johnson-O'Malley funds through the BIE
and um that relates to um education for American Indian students. I haven't had any conversation about when that will begin. That is a tribal question, that's not a Connie question. I think that that needs to come I think those conversations need to be had and talked about during tribal consultation meetings. And we do have a tribal consultation meeting tomorrow. Um I know the tribe is working on a lot of things and I've been part of some of the conversation. But I think as far as the planning, I cannot speak to that. I do agree with what Mr. Terry has stated is that it's important for us to have these conversations cuz it can impact our school system in the long run. So if we can that tribal that tribal consultation ensures that we're having that
ongoing timely and meaningful collaboration so that we can ensure that we're all working together to meet the needs of our students in our in our county and we right now we have over 50% American Indian students in our county with our count. Um when I submitted a grant, we have 98 and um is it 98? Let me see. 9847. And I spoke with Miss Angela during this time and at that time we only had 18,000 a little over 18,000 students in the county. So that's more than 50% of our population. So I can't speak about where the tribe is moving. I do know that they have that capacity is available to them. But I think these conversations will be best had during tribal consultation where we all sit down together. But if I may one
follow up. That first uh you gave a letter where funding comes from. >> that's the Bureau of Indian Education. >> Yeah. Is that where our funding comes from? The our our funding right now, we are move our funding is through the Office of Indian Education which is under US Department of Ed which is being moved to BIE the um the Office of Interior. Okay. Thank you. All right, going back to Dr. Emanuel made a motion to put this as a applic- I mean a action item. Mr. Craig second it. All those in favor raise your This is going to require a 2/3 vote of the members present. This is going to require a 2/3 vote of the members present to move it to an action item. All those in favor raise your right hand. Unanimous.
Thank you, Dr. Connie. Thank you. And board, we will move it to um can we do that first, Mr. Schwartz? Is that fine with moving it to action items? Let's move it to the first thing, action item. So everything else will move down a letter. Action item A will be the title six grant application. Has everybody got that? All right, next up is public comments. There is none, so we will go ahead and move on to action items. First up is what we just put there, title six grant application. I got a Miss Dr. Emanuel. I make a motion that we approve the title six grant application as stated. I got a motion by You good, Mr. Schwartz? I got a motion by Dr. Emanuel. Second. Second by Mr. Craig Lowry. All those in favor
say aye. Aye. Any opposed? Eyes have it. Unanimous, Mr. Schwartz. Next up is Mr. Bobby Locklear with lawn service contracts rollover. >> [clears throat] >> Mr. John Simmons? Mr. Bobby. We just renewing the contract. Nothing changed. Correct. The all of our service providers are locked in to the price that was bid last year. Make a motion to approve. I got a motion by Mr. John Simmons, a second by Mr. Vontae Leech. All those in favor say I. Any opposed? Ms. Christie and Ms. Melissa Oceans? I'm going to take it or not there, so it will be 8-0, Mr. Schwartz. Unanimous. Mr. Bobby, thank you, sir. Next step is proposed 2026 Next up is proposed 2026-2027 capital outlay projects. Mr. Bobby. Good evening again, Chairman Britt. At our last construction committee meeting, Mr. Simmons chaired that
committee. We came up with a list of proposed uh uh proposed capital outlay projects for this school year. So, I will review those and these were all approved by the construction committee. One would be uh Magnolia Elementary paving uh behind the school, Park and Elementary staff paving, uh look at resealing and restriping Red Springs High's paving, and also uh partial completion of the athletic complex at Red Springs High. That would include sod, sprinkler system, and completion of the track events. And so, uh the request of the construction committee is to bring that to the full board for approval. Mr. John Simmons. Make a motion to approve. Second. I got a motion been made by Mr. John Simmons, a second by Mr. Henry Brewer. You got a question, Mr. Mr. Terry, you got a question? Mr.
Terry. I was wondering um it would it be possible for us to create a like a 3-5 year capital outlay plan? Because with our budgeting and our funding the way it is, um it would be a little bit more strategic for us to to have some of these projects um nailed down ahead of time because I thought when we met um back in in March, um maybe it was March the 30th, that we uh we said we just had estimates and or we had we had some roundabout figures, but not some um nailed down numbers. Uh have we fully polished those up? No, we have not polished those up because again, without the board's approval to move forward with these, we will not get any hard numbers. But, uh it has always been before we
move forward with anything, if it varies greatly from this, we will bring that back to the board. Okay, but what do you mean by greatly? So, if we look at Magnolia's paving for instance and what we're looking at doing there, if it comes back to where the estimate may be a million dollars, of course, we're going to come back and and adjust or take it back to the construction committee and say this is where we're at. >> So, we have a certain percentage or threshold um to say if So, if it's X% greater than or or less than or or within a window of what we're approving tonight, we'll bring it back and have a further discussion. >> not have any specifics as to what that threshold would be to come back. So, so Bobby,
part of our process has been and will continue to be we still have some projects that was approved last year that we have not been able to complete. So, in terms of that ongoing plan, we're adding these four projects. Doesn't mean that we can complete these projects next year. Correct. We have a constant roll over that we have projects in front of us as the funding is made available. We some project when we project the cost come under that, we're able to take those funds. So, to answer the question, we do have a running list of projects uh every year that we add to so that we have those projects in front of us and not a plan. And one second now, let's go ahead and vote on this. Mr. John Simmons made the motion.
Mr. Craig and I'll come back to you. Hold on one second. Here's motion. All right, you got a question on his motion. Yes, yes. Go ahead. Uh I I would think it would be uh Mr. Bobby um it might have been earlier conversation handicap parking at IEA as a follow up with what they did. That's been taken care of. It's been taken care of. Okay, so that's why it's not here. Okay, thank you. Yeah, these are just new projects for 26-27. I did not include the all everything the running total, but if you guys if you would like that list back, I can get that list back to you. I'll add something else later on. Go ahead and do the vote now. Okay. Mr. John Simmons made the motion, second by Mr. Henry Brewer to
approve the capital outlay projects for 26-27. All those in favor say I. I. Any opposed? Eyes have it. Mr. Melissa Ms. Melissa Ocean voted as I and Bradley Phillips. Ms. Christie Fields, are you there? I. Unanimous there, Mr. Schwartz. Mr. Bobby, thank you, sir. Thank you. Next up, we have Ms. Erica Setzer, PRC071 additional teacher supplement. Good evening again, Chairman Britt, Superintendent Dr. Williamson, and board members. The PRC071 additional uh teacher compensation is something that's required to be approved by the school board every year. So, I'm bringing that forth. Um I think this is the fourth year, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe fifth year that we bring this back um and I included the dollar amount, the max that the teachers can receive. This year is 3,556. And as I state in the background information,
that may not be the amount that the individual teachers receive once I put all the teachers that are eligible in that fixed dollar amount, we come up with whatever that dollar amount is everyone will receive. It never varies by more than say $100, but that is the max that any one teacher can receive. It is prorated. It'll be paid um if they didn't start in August. Um and anybody who starts April the 1st or after is not eligible for any portion. Um and that will be paid on June the 15th with the regular teacher supplement. Ms. Erica, can you read that sentence there, PRC071 may not be, that way we can clarify to the public of what it cannot be used on? >> Yes. PRC071 may only be used to provide supplements to certified teachers
and instructional support personnel who are working and coded to a school. PRC071 may not be used to provide supplements to central office employees or non-certified classified employees or any other group not previously mentioned. Principals and assistant principals are not eligible. These procedures must be reviewed and updated each year. Thank you, Ms. Erica. Mr. Terry Locklear. So, if a teacher's working on a uh is working based on a temporary license, would they be included? >> it's permit, as long as they're being paid from that teacher pay scale. Would the amount differ based on whether or not they're teaching within their certification area? No, sir. Okay. All right, I need a motion to approve this teacher sup. Motion to approve. Second. Motion been made by Ms. Melissa Ocean, second by Mr. Bradley Phillips. All those in favor
say I. Yes. Eyes. Any opposed? >> [clears throat] >> I would say the eyes have it. Unanimously. Okay. Mr. Chair, if I may, I would make mention that 071 is the result of Leandro. The West Ed report provided those additional funding. And so, at some point when attorney told us about the impact, but we want to put that on the table. That was part of Leandro. So, the future of that, we're not sure at this point. >> Correct. We do have a planning allocation for 26-27 so far, as long as nothing changes with budget conversations. Yeah, thank you, Ms. Erica. Next up, we action item is sole source with Sagintrix, Ms. Erica. So, as we amended the agenda at the beginning of the meeting, I'm only asking for permission to move forward with purchasing Sagintrix,
which is the Ident-A-Kid and the special specialized visitor and volunteer management system at the school. Sagintrix only. Mr. Terry Locklear. So, why did we um why did we amend the agenda to remove these other um options? Are we are we looking at different I think um No, no, we are not. We want to bring some teachers and principals into the conversation. And so, our intent is to bring it back next month. What does that process look like, if you don't mind? We will have and when we talk, you want to address it. We we invite teachers to come in um and administrators and we have some of that work done. Dr. May, can you put your card in? Dr. Carr? Oh, okay. So, like Dr. Williamson said, just like we do with many other curriculum
We're You're on. Okay. We're going to bring teachers and administrators in currently using the curriculum to show how they're using it in um what's going on with the curriculum currently in their buildings, in their classrooms to share. Is it possible >> Hold on, Terry, you're not on. You done, Dr. Carr? Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> Miss Crystal Monroe, Terry, hit your button, please, sir. Go ahead, Crystal. Oh, well, mine is with the the Senegex. Does that matter? Got you. Hold on. Miss Miss Dr. Terry. Is it possible that these may change from uh from Apex, Canvas, Eureka, EL, Discovery. Is it possible that these may change? Go ahead, Miss Schwartz. You need a motion to get this on the table for discussion. Then in the items that were removed from the agenda are not um
they can be dealt with or discussed after the motion's on the floor um or after the motion's voted on if there are no questions on Senegex. She had a question on Senegex. Go right ahead. What you need to You need a motion to get this on the floor for discussion. I need a motion to get it on the floor for discussion. You making a motion, Crystal? >> No, I'm doing the Senegex. That's what he's saying to get it on the floor. No, he meant the other the other I got you. Sorry. Can I ask? Okay. >> [laughter] >> Just want to make sure I'm talking about the right thing. Is this where they have the little printout when people walk in? Okay. >> I need a motion to approve the Senegex. She had a discussion
question about Senegex. You still need a motion to get the discussion going on whether to approve Senegex or to get the question on. So, you need to just need a motion on the floor to get I make a motion. Second. I'm confused. That was Miss Melissa Ocean that made a motion and a second by Mr. Bradley Phillips. Okay. To to approve the sole source contract for Senegex. To approve the sole source Senegex something. And to get it on the floor for discussion. Now, Crystal Miss Crystal, go ahead. Okay. I just wanted to clarify. This is for the kids the IDs or when the parents walk in to like check them in and out. >> When the parents walk in to check them in and out. >> all using it? Are they working? You I don't
know that part. I know all the schools have the option. This includes all of our schools for them to use it. We can work through if somebody's is not working or not being used properly, but this would include all of our locations. >> I know I mean, I don't know like now, but I have known like some work when you go in, they don't even use it and some do. So, that's why I was just wondering if it was for all the schools or some. It is for all the schools and we'll follow up with them to make sure they are all using it since we're paying for it. >> Exactly. That's what I was trying to get at. Yes. All right, thank you. Mr. Vontae, call for the question. I got a motion made
by Miss Melissa Ocean, a second by Mr. Bradley Phillips. All those in favor, say I. Any oppose? Eyes have it. It'll be unanimous there, Miss Schwartz. Miss Erica, monthly financial report. Okay. And I can answer any questions anybody has about the monthly financial report. Mr. John Simmons. Any questions, James, sir? No, sir. Make a motion to approve. Motion made Second. made by Mr. John Simmons, a second by Miss Crystal Monroe. All those in favor, say I. I. Any oppose? Miss Christy Fields, Miss Melissa Ocean. I. I. Eyes have it unanimous, Mr. Craig. Uh Mr. Chairman, if I could go back uh before we go to close session. Uh This Mr. Terry Mr. Terry and Mr. Bobby, this is just a comment. Maybe it would help. We uh I can't remember now the year, but it
was during the COVID year uh that spring, that fall, we put together a list of capital outlay projects that and and it was put together then based on recommendations from maintenance, recommendations from uh going around the schools, but anyway, a list was put together. And I would I'm sure that list now is very long of what was completed cuz there was a tremendous amount of roofing, air conditioning work, uh there was some athletic stuff. Just I mean, it it went from one range to another, Mr. Terry. So, we have done that and that list is dwindling. Uh I'm going to say the stuff at Red Springs, the complex there is still part of that dwindling list. And we've got other things that's like been there and we're moving them down to try to get those
also. It it was like 5 years, but was one of the best things that we ever did because then you didn't come in here and take $200,000 from this project that's been sitting over here and move it over here to do this one and then you couldn't do the one you had planned on. So, as far as what you were saying, do we need to relook at that list, see where we at? But now again, we had the COVID money. That was that was one of the ways we were able to do a lot of that stuff, but we still need to plan for what we can do in year in year out, Mr. Terry. You're exactly right on that. But there was a list and Mr. Bobby, I'll be honest with you. You you
folks deal with the computers. You know how easy or hard it would be just to get a list to see what projects, I'm going to say since the COVID year, has been completed regardless of who paid for it, but it was a lot of times it was on capital outlay. Right. Mr. Craig, at the last facility meeting, we we we had that list. That's a running list for us. And the dollar amount cuz I think you asked the question was at this point since it's been over $10 million that we've invested in capital projects. What's the dollar amount that we that we should Dr. Terry Locklear. Yeah, I appreciate that, Mr. Craig. And um yeah, just uh even you know, when we come in here, we already got uh 80-some pages of stuff. If we
could get one or two more pages on that running list, that would help things. I appreciate it. Thank you. Mr. Terry, I need a motion to go into closed session. I move that the board enter into closed session for the purposes uh following to consider confidential personnel matters as provided in North Carolina General Statute 140D 143-318.11 section A1 and A6 and 115C-319 and to consider confidential student matters as provided in North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11 A1 and 115C-402 and and 28 US Code uh 1232G and to consult with the Board of Education's attorney uh attorney to preserve the attorney-client privilege and to discuss the following pending litigation the state versus William Shooter 24-CR265126 and Jessica Kemp versus the Board of Education and Bobby Locklear 25 CV005984-770 as provided in North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11 section
A3 and pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11 section A1 to consider closed session minutes that are confidential pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 143-318.10E. Excuse me, we don't need that last part of it, the closed session minutes. So, could you modify the motion to just take that last part out? I would like to modify the motion to remove that uh last part that was read. And I read that because uh our chair gave it to me. Thank >> Sorry about that. I'm That was That was my bad. But I got a motion made by Mr. Terry Locklear, second by Mr. Henry Brewer. All those in favor to go into closed session? Any oppose? Eyes have it. We are now in closed session. It's time to go to all right. >> Mhm. >> Close session.
>> I got a motion made by Mr. Vontae Leach, a second by Mr. Henry Brewer. All those in favor say I. I. I. Eyes have it. Motion to approve certified and classified personnel.
