about everyone's culture and celebrating the diversity the rich diversity that we have in Bridgeport the city and Bridgeport Public Schools had the opportunity to participate in an amazing outdoor picnic at Discovery and my daughter attends Discovery magnet so it was just an exciting well-attended event lots and lots and lots of parents and students lots of students who went to Discovery in years past who came back to say hello and I want to give a shout out to me Sangita Bella for just hosting an exciting amazing um very well attended event very well organized safe lots of food trucks activities lots of food and just a lot of really good memories it was good to see the the continued the continuity of the connection between the former students and the teachers who have been there all

these years and continue to loyally serve at this campus I was very excited to see um that level of love and dedication and just to see the students coming back and sharing their experiences with their teachers so I want to thank Miss Bella for her invitation and um for the parents that invited me to join the the ptso and I will be joining and and attending your meeting so thank you for treating me like a parent despite being a superintendent that was very exciting for me I told him it's the first time that I've ever been invited to be part of a PTO as an administrator so it was very exciting for me and I'm looking forward to to participating with them and learning more about the program also had lots of opportunities last week

to meet and participate especially in the dedication of the Alan Wallach um centers for stem education here in the district and it's in the hall house um Paul house Hall house all Neighborhood House thank you and I wanted to make sure I got that correct and and to see just the incredible history of support that that organization has lent to the district and to the community and um to be able to continue to partner with the Cal Ripken foundation and all of the donors who were present um the amazing dedication and and um all of the Innovation that our students were demonstrating at the event was a pleasure to see how we are truly truly highlighting science and stem in the district and turning those pieces around so I was very excited to participate and

I just want to thank everyone who participated and made it special I know that Mr Wallach has a special place in the heart of many of the residents here in Bridgeport Mr um George uh Garcia shared with me some of his memories of working with Mr Wallach as a kid and there were many others who spoke very eloquently of their memories of Mr Wallach so I just think it's so exciting that we continue to honor people who've invested in our community invested in our kids and through their legacy continue even after they are no longer with us investing in our students so I just want to thank the foundation thank the Cal Ripken foundation and thank everyone who collaborated um with this project it was amazing thank you to Miss Elena Morgan who has been

partnering as well in this process and just done a phenomenal job of leading it so it's it's been an absolute pleasure to see that work I want to also emphasize um just the need to remind all of our leaders about self-care even in the midst of starting a very different type of school year of having all of the leadership transitions that we've had and just remember that I want every single leader to be empowered to take care of your staff but to also take care of yourselves and to ensure that you're leading a very balanced work life balance uh practice and that you are also recognizing the need for teachers to have that work-life balance all members of our personnel and staff to have that work-life balance I want to ensure that we are if

you need assistance or need support that I'm receiving um those requests for support and just know that those are being considered on an individual basis by myself by cabinet in order to provide any additional support that you may need and we want to make sure that we're responsive not only to our students but also to the Irreplaceable adults that help us to do this work so again lots of activities we will continue to publish the newsletter I have asked they stopped featuring me so much in the newsletter and that they really start featuring our students uh because I really want to know more about what our students are doing and their successes in the schools and I'm just really excited about where we're going as a district we're going to actually have um more Facebook

live opportunities to communicate what's happening in the district and we're also going to be showing up in a place near you without warning so you know that we really are part of this community and that I am part of this community and that I'm very excited um about the future in Bridgeport so thank you all for your continued support it means the world to all of us and again please remember take care of yourselves thank you thank you Dr Levy David for your report I'll open it up for committee members to share any thoughts or concerns I'm going to go with those that are online so I don't forget them so board members please bear with me uh Mr binahan do you have any comments or concerns for Dr Levy David yes Madam chair thank

so Mr planner thank you Mr planner to take the time um on today to talk with the parents for the situation Happening by the email after seven days I have an answer I would appreciate that your two I almost two hours so privileged that's not regarding the superintendent's report Madam chair I just want to say thank you Mr planner just that that's all thank you uh and that same is on Modern share I just want to say I appreciate that what they did thank you Mrs cap Miss Casimir yes just one question for Dr Levy David do we have a uh EAP in place an employee assistance program in place for the Board of Ed okay is that contracted out to uh a community agency or is it within the public schools who can answer

that Dr Morgan um it's the employee assistance program Miss Eagle go ahead Miss Eagle yes so I can't see anyone up there um it's the employee assistance program EAP which has been in operation uh for a number of years okay the question the question was do you contract out to a community Agency for that or is it within the public school system it's an agency that's used by the public school system that's all I wanted to know thank you that's all I had thank you thank you Mr Gellen and it's through behavioral questions sorry oh oh hold on Mr Gallon go ahead yeah I apologize but I wanted to be sure to give you uh comprehensive information um the employee assistance program agreement is with behavioral health consultants thank you Miss eagle yep go ahead

Mr gellan no questions over here thank you okay thank you Mr traber yes I just had one follow-up question to a previous report about the expulsion rates for the last three years uh it's information we haven't gotten yet she's going to respond just one second expulsion rates for the last three years Mr Traver is that what you're asking yes ma'am it came up two meetings ago and you were going to provide that to us and I was asking when if we're going to still get that information make sure that you get that information this week thank you madam uh superintendent thank you uh Miss Perez no questions or comments this Baptiste for us no I don't have any questions uh Dr Levy but I do want to add a comment I am happy to hear

that we are listening to our staff and I am familiar with the EAP as you know in my profession so I'm really happy that that's something you know just in light of the new climate of everything so really happy to hear that and teachers I hope you take full advantage of it that ends the superintendent's report there is no old business to be transacted at this moment and we are live thank you Mr Jeff it's okay we appreciate you for coming in thank you so much uh so for everyone you can see and I believe everyone online will be able to see us now um our first item of new businesses discussion and possible approval of educational specif specifications for state project um zero one five-0182 rvn slash E A for renovations of John Winthrop

school this came out of health facilities and safeties committee Miss Baptist Perez would you like to shine light on it before going to staff this is a critical um opportunity for the school district to have access to applying for grant money from John Winthrop school for um addition and renovation that will include skein school um both the buildings are extremely old but Mr Garcia you want to come and provide more details um I guess I don't have the plan to put on us but I know both buildings have not been renovated in my lifetime so that should give some some contacts although I dyed my gray hair so you don't know so thank you thank you for giving us opportunity this evening um we're looking for approval of the ad specification for the project to

renovate Winthrop school and uh build an addition that will house this game program uh both buildings are of 1950s vintage both have failing infrastructure that have a host of issues um Winthrop school is currently not ADA Compliant so that solves that problem we have uh five six schools in the City of Bridgeport that aren't ADA Compliant it comes up every time we go for state grants so showing a commitment at this point is is very important from our part uh the city has done all of the um the city council has done their piece in terms of allocating the 17.8 million dollars for the project that's the city's match the project is going to be a 75 million dollar project so um you know we're looking for a pool this evening this approval will give

us all of the documentation we need to move this to the state so we can get on the priority list uh the due date is October 1st so if we get this approval I know John we were going to be working with John to get the documentation that we need the board minutes to get the the documentation in on time any questions thank you uh I'll go around and ask board members for comments I'll start online so I don't forget them Miss customer do you have any comments or questions for Mr Garcia Garcia Mr Gallon do you have any comments or questions from Mr Garcia thank you Mr Traver do you have any comments or questions from Mr Garcia yes I have a question uh at the previous meeting uh a question was raised about

whether there was going to be any public meetings to discuss this plan are there going to be or have there been any meetings with the parents and public in the neighborhoods around these schools and the parents from these schools not yet but the intent is that we will have the community involved administrators teachers we want to make sure everyone has a voice in this project um but we've got to get the approvals get this in a priority list get this moving in the right direction and then we can start scheduling meetings and when you said the community involved Mr Garcia you also meant to include parents and the residents around the groups absolutely okay thank you Mr bennahan any comments or questions on this item no um answer my question Mr Garcia so I'm okay

with that okay Miss Perez any comments or questions no questions thank you this Baptist prayers I know this is your item did you want to add anything further all right I don't have any comments uh Mr traber asked my question I've also seen we've discussed this in our um our committee meeting prior to coming to our board so thank you for presenting on it uh Mr Garcia is there anything else you'd like to add nope uh it's just the first step and a lot of things come for sure all right thank you with someone like oh someone like to make the motion I like to make a motion to approve the educational specifications for state project number zero one five one I mean zero one eight two rnv slash EA for renovation of John Winthrop

school second by Miss Perez are there any further comments or questions all in favor aye any opposed any abstentions hearing none motion carries the next uh Dr Levy David oh yes uh we're gonna take a quick second so you can respond to Mr Trader go short go right ahead Mr Trevor I wanted to respond to your question about the expulsion data it got buried in my email um 20 20 to 2021 we had two expulsions and I'm guessing it's because of covid 20 21 22 we had 50 expulsions and 20 22 23 we had 20 expulsions yes yes um not just how many how many years but how many each week or month so that we could see how many students were actually out of school on any given week because we were looking at

the university school and whether it was actually needed to have that many slots these are specifically the t-u-s expulsion numbers for those entire years so I'm not sure how that breaks down week by week but those were the total students who were expelled to the university school on each of those three years asked for the last three years um because we were looking at the actual use I recognized what you said about the kovadir um and the impact on that data but we're looking at the actual use or need of 30 slots for or whatever the university contracts entailed that's where that came up a month ago I'll go back to the data team and see if they can pull it on a week by week and weekend and by month thank you thank you

thank you the next item is discussion and possible approval of the 2023-2024 budget Gap plan uh this is this came out of Finance Mrs okolovic is not here but I will give the floor to um Miss eagle and before I get started I just want to take a moment to update the information I provided earlier with regard to the employee assistance program um I mentioned behavioral health consultants as the a company providing the services in the employee assistance program I've been informed that company became kga um I don't know what the acronym stands for but the company name is k g a uh and I'm not sure whether kga took over behavioral health consultants or the the city selected a different uh company but we have an agreement uh for kga to provide employee assistance

to all of our employees so thank you for recognizing the update um so on the screen you will see the budget Gap plan for 2023-24 and if you recall last January when we discussed the monetary request for 23.24 um the number was 26.5 million we did reduce it by a million dollars based on last year's performance in utilities which came in lower than anticipated now we begin with Revenue the state revenue in terms of the alliance ECS Edition uh was approximately 3.2 million dollars three two six four five six three the original Grant was approximately 3.5 million however the state removes 7 percent 232 354. and diverts those funds to the alliance increasing educator diversity Grant the city contributed 2.5 million dollars and so state and city Revenue combined were approximately 5.8 million dollars now

in the major federal and state grants that contribute to our comprehensive fiscal plan there was a slight increase in the federal and state bilingual grants State bilingual and title III of approximately 82 thousand dollars and our special education idea grants 611 and 619 Pre-K grew by approximately half a million 506 664. but we did have reductions in Revenue in other grants Title One is lowered by over 300 000 and there was an increase in the student population in the non-public schools and so the title one non-public school Revenue increased and that further reduced our Revenue by over a hundred thousand dollars title 2A the grant that focuses on recruitment and professional development initiatives um was lower by a hundred twenty thousand five twenty one and title uh 4A which focuses on rounded educational opportunities and

safe and healthy schools primarily uh was lower by about thirty seven thousand dollars and our state priority grants the main Grant the extended school hours Grant and the summer Grant combined were down by approximately uh twenty seven hundred dollars and so combined all of these grants in total resulted in a slight increase about eleven thousand dollars now the state in the last legislative session um did increase the Statewide appropriation for the special education excess costs grant for out of District students by 25 million dollars this may or may not benefit Bridgeport it's going to depend on whether the local share percentage also known as the cap which we have to pay after we pay 4.5 times the nceep the net current expenditures per pupil um if that cap is reduced uh it may benefit us

but the ultimate outcome will be dependent upon the number of students and the cost factors Statewide we will apply any increase in special ed Revenue first to offset the growth in special ed expenses that has occurred and then finally for Revenue we're going to apply approximately a million dollars in Title One to Title 1 eligible expenditures in the comprehensive fiscal plan and that can include special ed services and or curriculum renewal as well as ell English language learner services and finally with our rollover Esser funds in the last year of the Esser grants the district will apply the resources to meet supplemental needs in accordance with our approved plan and that includes services such as contracted psychologists and speech services increased special ed and English language learner Services technology and curriculum renewal and we expect

to apply at least three million dollars above the amounts that we have already applied and then in every Gap plan that I have shared in my time in Bridgeport we've always included a credit for uh savings that emerge as a result of our cost control and management practices and those controls include position control procurement control and internal controls of various types but in the area of position control when there are positions that are not filled by certified staff in the case of teachers or in the case of paraprofessionals by qualified candidates due to the shortage of staff um who are available we provide coverage with substitutes and there are savings that emerge and so we capture those savings and direct those savings to balance the budget and that amount is projected at three and a

half million dollars and so in order to reach the number we have to also withdraw our funds from the internal service fund from our savings that we have put on deposit over the last few years so at this time we're projecting a maximum and I'm emphasizing maximum of 12 million dollars and I'll have more to say about that number as we move into the next section but I want to keep emphasizing that's a maximum number at this time we expect that it will be somewhere between 6 and 12. could it be lower than six yes possibly it's going to depend upon a multitude of factors including how well we are able to leverage our various Grant resources within Grant guidelines and how well we're able to conserve our operating uh resources going into the next

year but it is too soon to make a narrower prediction in light of the multitude of variables that will impact on the final outcome and now I'd like to move to the um internal service fund analysis and our balance before the end of year close was uh 29.5 million dollars this number is slightly higher than the number I had reported to the finance committee and the reason is that we did a final reconciliation after at some point after that meeting in view of the end of year close and a number of other factors and we went through it very carefully checked all the numbers and turns out that there is another adjustment that we could make and we actually have 29.5 million dollars so that is the final uh figure checked and triple checked and

so um that was the starting number now in 2223 the year that has passed we had to withdraw uh initially uh five million dollars however we were able to close to balance the budget at the end of your close with a lower number one million seven seven four three eight oh and therefore we returned to the ISF three million two three oh two nine three so we had withdrawing five we only needed one point eight approximately we returned 3.2 now the food and nutrition budget which is separate and apart from from our budget uh it has a different code uh that uh budget um uh was managed exceptionally well and uh ended with a balance at the end of the year at the close we always move money from the remaining balance into the ISF

to reimburse the board of education for the amount paid at the start of the year into the ISF for the food and nutrition retirees and so we move money in at the end of the year from the balance in order to pay for the food nutrition retirees we make a total payment at the start of each year for all retirees and so the funds that we're moving in reimburse the board of ed for the money that we already paid and that enables us to utilize those funds on behalf of the board of education at a future time when needed to assist in balancing the operating budget so we were able to move from their balance of 3.9 million uh 2.4 million uh that included the amount for the retirees and the supplemental funds for the

potential workers comp claims that are projected uh in the city Actuarial report and that live excuse me that left a balance of um approximately 1.5 million which is associated solely with food nutrition which means that the funds may be used solely for food and nutrition purposes I've indicated that we may be bringing back into this year's uh budget the food nutrition budget 64 395 to pay the balance due on the new vehicle that was um initiated in uh 2223 uh so we will do that if if needed and um that leaves uh one million four four nine five five one available we may also be bringing back some funds uh in order to finance the orders that were in place in 2223 but had to be closed due to supply chain issues or perhaps delays

in delivery and were reopened in the current uh year so we will do that if needed uh in within the current year budget and so the final number after those uh entries uh would be approximately 30 million dollars and then there was another internal Surplus in the internal service Fund in 2223 of 6.4 million dollars so what does that mean the internal service fund Surplus develops when the outgoing payments are less than the incoming uh revenue and why would that happen well it could have happened because the cost of the health insurance for the retirees perhaps was overprojected by the uh actuaries um La in the year prior 2122 there was an internal surplus of about three million dollars and at that time I said there is not any guarantee that another Surplus will occur

in the subsequent year however a surplus did occur in 2223 and so we can reap the benefit of that Surplus um you may be wondering well what will happen in 2324 and the answer is we don't know at this point um it will depend upon us many factors and we will be monitoring the internal service fund throughout the year our first goal is to make certain that it's operating uh in balance and if another Surplus develops that is only to the benefit of the Board of Education and so the grand total is 36.6 million dollars the projected maximum withdrawal for the current year is approximately 12 million dollars and that would leave approximately 24 million dollars however we do have to retain at least 2 million on reserve in the event of a shortfall in

the ISF in the future and or to offset future workers comp claims and so um including a line for a deduction of the 2 million leaving a balance of 22.3 million I want to reiterate that the 12 million withdrawal is a projection we are not withdrawing any money at this time uh we will know more within the next few months as to uh and a a closer a more accurate approximation of the number that will be needed and uh we are projecting at this time a range of 6 million to uh 12 million and so that number should decline hopefully um and once it declines the bottom line will go up now we are anticipating for 24.25 hopefully Revenue at a minimum state and city combined of 11 million dollars hopefully that's our minimum and

it will be much higher but with the expectation of at least minimum of 11 million that number plus the projected availability of funds in the ISF should hopefully yield sufficient Revenue to close the 24-25 budget Gap that is our goal and this is a result that we're very pleased to report and hopefully there will be additional funds available keep in mind that the 24-25 initial uh projection of of the funds that we need will primarily consist of uh escalated costs plus the required amount to close 22 23 and 23 24 in balance from both the ISF and grants plus mandated services in Esser that will be funded by District resources so when I'm referring to the Gap I'm referring to the monetary need the additional funds that we need in order to maintain the core

Services we will have to bring into the monetary need for 24.25 approximately 7 million dollars in Services currently funded in the Esser grants and these services are primarily mandated services in special education um and English language learner services and finally the chart at the bottom summarizes the status of the funds on reserve for food and nutrition services combining the 2223 remainder with the 20 122 remainder and that number is approximately 4.7 million dollars thank you are there any questions thank you Miss Siegel um let the record reflect Miss Casimir has joined us in person um I'll go through committee members and see if they have any comments I'll start with online Mr Gellen do you have any comments or questions for Miss eagle wait is he still there okay I think he stepped off uh

questions you can definitely uh talk to us after or speak to the director that helps okay um sorry where was I uh uh emotions been moved seconded any questions or comments yes any further comments or questions from board members all right here and none all in favor aye any opposed any abstentions pyramid motion carries uh thank you so much for presenting um the next item is discussion possible approval of subcontract oh I'm sorry I'm wrong item uh review and possible approval for a contract with Southern Connecticut State University for tuition coverage for students enrolled in The Residency program and special education Miss Clark or Dr Jenkins I'm not sure who's presenting on this item I am okay go ahead Miss Clark oh thank you Miss Dixon sorry I didn't recognize your voice no that's okay

okay so as we discussed last week this is a partnership a Residency program with Southern Connecticut regarding our parents this allows our parents to become work towards becoming teachers in special education as I indicated we offset their tuition and in return they commit to remain with Bridgeport Public Schools for our prop I believe it's three years foreign okay I'll open up the floor for board members who share any comments or questions uh Mr gelland any comments or questions done from me okay Mr Benny Hinn Mr traber yes just one uh comment um as we discussed last week this applies to teachers and Paris this is this Residency program the contractor for you is just in regards to paraprofessionals okay are you all set Mr chamber yes okay Miss Casimir do we have um all 10

candidates or how many candidates do we have or does that happen after we at this point we have five candidates okay thank you Miss Baptiste Perez for clarification Miss Dixon um we have five candidates already in the program it says uh the this agreement shall remain effective from September 7 2023 so our five people already in it yes there are five identified paraprofessionals in the program okay thank you you you're welcome Miss Perez no questions all right I have no questions this was also covered in committee is there a motion motion to approve the contract with Southern Connecticut State University for tuition coverage for students enrolled in The Residency program in special education is there a second second I'll give it to Mr traber um any further comments or questions yes one question go ahead

so there are only five so are you guys gonna still try to recruit or is it just five now and then that's it until the end of the year I think it's going to be too late to um recruit the course the program has started so as the contract indicate it is up to one hundred thousand dollars in costs since we have not reached the 10 it won't cost us the full amount and how do you promote this to the paraprofessionals how do you promote this program to them we have sent out blasts on um parent Square we have sent emails out to staff Boe staff as well as we have reached out to their Union to um advertise this we advertise when they have informational meetings and we offered to answer any questions to

paraprofessionals in addition we my office has spoke we've reached out to administrators to let them know if they are aware of any paraprofessionals who seem to be Superstars uh for to them reach our off reach out to our office to see if this program is a possibility for them okay thank you you're welcome thank you so um the motion has been made and it's been property second uh all in favor aye aye any opposed any abstentions paranon motion carries the next item is discussion and possible approval of interpretation and translation company per the RFP for all Bridgeport Public School staff and families I believe this yep have a floor you have before Miss Martin good evening everybody um I will recap what was shared at the subcommittee we are recommending um we uh submitted a

an RFP in uh or advertised RFP in March of uh this year as a result received um 13 proposals and um the committee selected one of the 13 companies that were proposed it's Bay State interpreters from Gardner Massachusetts they come with over 20 years of experience they have worked with the New Haven School System highly recommended by New Haven School System they train their interpreters with technology and interpretation practices they provide a secure platform they provide easy uh simple requests through email phone or secure platform app they are available 24 7 365 days of the year they have over 20 000 qualified interpreters that includes um also American Sign Language they offer over 250 languages and they can provide Braille that was one of the questions they provide a single page to complete in terms

of requests they train their staff with educational terminology so that they can provide us with accurate and efficient interpretation at ppt's parent meetings parent-teacher conferences pack meetings Board of Ed meetings any type of educational services that we may need from them so that's really a recap of all the services that they provide and finally the one thing that was really highlighted is that they provide an escalation and resolution policy for immediate assistance and resolution if we encounter any issues with them thank you so much for the uh recap of that item I'll open up the floor for our board members to ask any questions uh Mr gellan any comments or questions okay Mr binahan any comments or questions for your report I'm actually going to cost for the district is um situation so the cost

varies um if we ask for in-person in-person interpretation um it ranges by the hour so for Portuguese they charge us a hundred and forty dollars an hour for Spanish a hundred and fifty dollars an hour that's for in-person interpretation if we ask for translation um of documents that's a different cost so it ranges between 20 cents per word to um up to uh 28 cents per word depending on the language okay thank you Mrs I appreciate it thank you Mr traber any comments or questions thanks uh Miss Castleman any comments or questions Miss Baptist for us who were we using before for our language Services we had two companies that we were using before which were linguistica uh interpretation LLC out of Utah and um after covid they were providing mainly uh either virtual or

telephonic Services very seldomly were they able to meet our requests for in person and we also had shorelines interpretation out of Guilford and that was just for Spanish because her rate was the most competitive um unfortunately she has since um dismantled her her um company so she's no longer in a business thank you Mr Perez no questions I have no questions either this was uh um presented in contracts in Personnel is there a motion motion to approve the interpretation and translation company per the RFP for all BPS staff and families thank you Mr banan I'm going to give it to Ms Baptiste Perez um any further comments or questions yes yes I hear yes who's that I just want to say as I said at the committee meeting how exciting this program is for the

parents and staff of the district to finally get it in um I know as a teacher when uh working with make the road years ago getting this service provided to parents is critical um and it it allows these ESL teachers to do their job working with the students in the school and doesn't mean they have to go translate so it's very exciting to have this program thank you thank you Mr traber it has been properly second um all in favor bye any opposed any abstentions hearing on motion carries thank you so much Miss Martin for joining us this evening our next item is discussion possible approval of the gold fan digital ticket sales agreement and Mr Denton is here to present is it answer okay good evening I'm James Denton director of Athletics physical education

and health and tonight I'm seeking approval of a contract with gofan digital ticket providers a little bit about the company there's no charge to the district for the service however there's a one dollar fee charged on top of the ticket price to the to the customer the uh go Fan company is partnered with the ciac which is our governing body of Athletics in the state of Connecticut they are partnered with Arbiter which handles all our scheduling of athletic events so it'll it'll um it'll interface right with Arbiter for all our Sports schedules and is also partnered with the nfhs which is the Federal uh uh governing body of High School athletics they're going to give us part of the deal is four iPads and for um scanners card readers and free Wi-Fi on those devices

we could use this system to not only charge athletic events but we could charge for dances merchandise fundraising field trips pretty much whenever you um you have to collect money in the school the contract has been reviewed by the City attorney and they they approved it and um other than that it's pretty much the you know the the new standard in High School athletics is digital uh ticketing thank you Mr Denton I'll open up for any comments or questions from committee mem I mean from board members Mr gellan do you have any comments or questions on this Mr binahan Mr Traver no question Miss Casimir it's just one question um what does tech support look like for this uh you're at a game after hours and the program has a glitch in it or just

something happens to it where you need Tech Support to help you right away what does that look like go fan has agents that would be able to contact and is that far into the night 24 hours what's what's it look like um I'm not sure if it is 24 hours but well like you know 9 10 11 o'clock whatever you don't know I I don't know if it you know what the time frame is but anything on the technical side would be run through the go fan people got it thank you oh yep um Dr Levy David thank you Miss Casimir the go plan program is one that is used across the country by hundreds of school districts and um I I know for a fact that their customer service uh response time is really

good um I I can't give you the data on it because I haven't met with them actually or seen the presentation but my prior district and the one before also used the go fan service and this was a district of 80 000 and the other one was a district of more than 100 000 students so it worked successfully for the athletic events Theater events um band performances anything where they wanted to collect uh funds and did not want to have the issues that we usually have when we're handling cash um it turned out to be a really successful Endeavor for that no I have no doubt that it's a great program that's obvious I was just wondering how far into the night if they're having a night an evening event does can they call tech

support that was my only question okay we're not live oh no oh nine o'clock okay sorry I didn't know what you were doing uh Miss Baptist for us as the option to purchase tickets in person still available or we exclusively with gofan you will be able to purchase the tickets at the site they'll have card readers the end goal would be to not accept cash anymore for tickets but they can fans can still buy them at the gate okay there's no need to register on an app there's no need to download anything they could just show up with the iPads and the card readers buy a ticket okay and then maybe you'll know this better than I do at this point but what's the reimbursement policy and this is something I'll I'll explore further and

committee for facilities but there was an issue um last school year where students attended events and they may have purchased tickets to attend the event but they weren't allowed to so in the case that they purchased a ticket on go fan and they're not allowed to enter the premises are they reimbursed well we'll be able to clearly notify everybody on the site that an accompanied minors will not be allowed in alone and that there would not be a refund okay however if the event was canceled or some other mishap it would everyone would be refunded are the tickets going to be issued with the person's name so if I attend my tickets should say Christine Baptiste Perez I can't get in with Jennifer Perez's ticket you you can't um the big thing is you can't

present a screenshot of a ticket but you could present you know just the ticket and there's a way to swipe it to collect it so it's it's not really I'm not sure if there's a individual name on it but it can only be used once and it can't be a photo okay thank you Miss Perez no questions payment options Apple pay obviously all credit cards correct payment yeah any card you could always type in there yes Google hey I would imagine it's it's everything okay thanks all right and then my question I'll ask again so if any parents are listening it was kind of piggybacking off with Miss Baptist Perez uh question was how do we uh are we identifying those that are underage and what is the process to identify them so that parents

they know that they have to come with the parent if they're gonna participate if you can just share that because I know we shared it in committee but share it because we have viewers well we what the with the go fan system we could limit the ticket sales to only students of the schools that are participating but normally we would allow you know other students and and you know the security people at the gate they would have to present their student IDs okay thank you uh if there are no further comments or questions would someone like to make a motion promotion to approve the gold fan digital ticket sales agreement second by Miss Casimir any further comments or questions Karen none all in favor bye bye bye bye any opposed any abstentions paranoid motion carries

the next item is the first read on revision of policy 3515 and its related regulations to r1330 regarding the use of school facilities this was this is Mr sokolovic's item he is not here and has not been able to provide us the the giraffe of the first read so um I would like to know with someone like to table make a motion to table this yeah second roof the table right uh it's been uh properly second any further comments or questions here and none all in favor any opposed any abstentions hair and none motion carries the next item is first read vision of policy 9130 construction of agenda to bring into compliance with State Statute uh I this was also Mrs okolovic's item he also has the giraffe for this as well um so is

there a motion to table to next regular board meeting okay all the is there any further comments or questions it's in properly second all in favor aye any opposed any abstentions Karen none the item has been tabled the next item is discussion possible selection of firm to conduct Dei professional development for Bridgeport Public Schools and uh we have staff here to represent hi good evening this item is a result of an RFP that was issued in late uh spring in firms for the diversity equity and inclusion training for staff we received two firms to two responses it was scored by the committee and now it's before you to uh recommend the uh the approval of the firm that was selected thank you I'll open up the floor for any comments or questions from commit from

board members uh Mr Gellen any comments or questions nothing from me thank you Mr Thomas or questions no questions Mr Traver any comments or questions no no Ms casimiri comments or questions yeah I'm sorry I don't see it who are the two firms around forward inclusion and Ready Set I'm sorry can you speak upward forward inclusion and Ready Set four board four word for board inclusion and ready set correct thank you it's also page 108 is farther is way at the bottom under the second packet so I say yeah it's just yeah um yes uh Dr Levy David um I I reviewed the information for this RFQ including the foreign process participants I guess my concern is the amount of time that is passed since this RFQ was issued and scored and the lack of

stakeholders involved in the scoring process there were no students included no teachers no campus leaders and so I guess for me the question is how are we selecting a service that directly impacts buried directly these stakeholders and they were not included in the process of selection for any of these service providers that was my concern you like to respond well the the selection criteria was defined in the RFP when it was issued in the spring I agree that it might have been more inclusive at the time but that was the way it was drawn that was the way it was scored and those are the criterias that the the firms were to adhere to so um that that's how we roll forward if now if you want to reissue the RFP it can be done

but it takes your decision to do so I can at least I'm not at all trying to be argumentative but I would really um recommend reissuing the RFP and especially when we have servicers that are going to be working directly with our students and our campuses their leaders and teachers I would like to see their representation and the selection of these types of services um you know it affects it goes directly to diversity equity and inclusion which is one of the tenets that we have is one of the priorities in the district so I would really love to see this reissued and have a greater inclusion of participants in this election of a service provider thank you for your thoughts uh Miss Baptist Perez um yeah thank you Dr Levy David for your input onto

that um I my question is who was the prior firm we use for professional development for Bridgeport I believe that was Dr okay Dr gay oh yes okay um and I think that was a one-year agreement and he delivered the commencement message and he did some training yeah and he also um so my knowledge when we spoke about this he didn't uh apply again for this bidding right okay thank you Miss Perez no questions all right I um I just wanted to if you could just read again what are the criteria in selecting this particular uh RFP I don't have the actual RFP here with me uh but I can get that to you if you if you wish to reissue the RFP uh what I can do is I can give you a draft

of the RFP and you can change the the review committees I think we'll be more inclusive of of someone that you you deem fit to be part of the the RFP and I can bring it back to um the contracts committee and then you can make a decision go forward I hear someone speaking Mr thank you Mr traber isn't here to answer the question that the superintendent has asked and he could more adequately explain what the process was as I understand that you had Mr Gay this was before my time and there was a problem with him objecting to our use of something material or posting something that he had done um but I think Mr sakolovic can explain the process that was used to get the first um contract with Mr Gay and how

this was then put out the bid again and these two providers submitted uh proposals so I would just ask that we label it instead of submitting a new RFP putting it out the bid again uh until we hear from Mr Speaker at the next meeting is there a second I'll second it is there any further comments or questions hearing none uh this this uh all in favor I I Okay so there are no there are no further eyes on that on it so someone like to make a motion no you have to take the no votes oh the no votes is Miss uh Perez Miss Casimir Miss baptiste's Perez no nobody calling everyone's name uh Mr traber there's no motion for a roll call vote you you just asked me to to acknowledge the no

votes you you have to go all in favor I any opposition any extensions Perez I will do that all in favor there was two any opposed opposed opposed okay two opposed three opposed three appointments all right so those in favor are Miss Brown and Mr traber those that oppose is Miss Perez Miss Casimir Miss Baptist prayers do you oppose yes I oppose Miss baptis pereza polls anyone else Matt I'm sure I'm a favor okay Mr bennahan is a favor he's an all in favor anybody else all right any all in favor any um abstentions all right so there are none Galen Mr Gillen he didn't say anything Mr Gallon uh nothing from Mayan thank you all right thank you now is there a motion to adjourn you haven't announced the outcome of the outcome there

are three opposed two three favors and then Mr Gellen didn't say anything so the motion to table doesn't carry so emotions okay it doesn't carry now is there a motion on the floor okay there's a motion all right Miss uh Miss Perez yes you can say all right is there a second second Miss Casimir are there any further comments or questions what's I have a clarification it's going to move back to committee for new RFP uh okay RFP for revision okay yes and all right all in favor aye any opposed nay I didn't hear you opposed okay Mr traber polls opposed Mr banana opposed must have been a handle polls so there's two opposed and everyone else's eyes so the eyes have it motion to adjourn I will do what Miss batis Perez motion to

adjourn second by Miss Miss Casimir all in favor aye any opposed any abstentions hearing on motion carries everyone have a good night have a good night everyone God bless you all right
