all right looks like we are good to go so good evening and welcome to the 2024 Brookfield High School academic and athletic celebration of Excellence uh while I can't promise the uh request of a length of a presentation to be 45 minutes as someone requested back in the stands uh if you flip over the blue sheet it is a significant number of awards we giving tonight I will do my best to move it along but also celebrate the students that are here and earn their Awards my name is Mark Banda I'm the principal at Brookfield High School and this is always one of my favorite ceremonies every year because we get to recognize our best and brightest students for what they accomplish in school and Sports in the community I want to make sure I
recognize a few people before we begin um I see over there now excuse me because the lights are bright um really highlighting the lack of tan that I have but I do see Dr burill over there our superintendent of schools thank you for coming Dr burill oh wow you get a round of applause and also I believe yep is Mrs Greenstein and Dr yep young yep she's there young blood from the board of education so thank you for joining us tonight and celebrating with us uh there's a few other people obviously uh that deserve a whole lot of thanks um for all the work they put in behind the scenes and some right in front and they're here to my left uh Miss Rosa hopc Miss Lisa geneves and Miss Mary negri so round of
applause for them for thank you the next slide is going to outline essentially what our program is going to be like this evening um but I want to uh first explain a little bit we try to do things a little bit different every year try to spice it up a little bit um this year I'm not going to make students parade across the stage in front of the bright lights uh it's a change from this for this year so what you're going to do is when students do get named and you'll see a slide that will come up with the title of the award missing a picture in a name the next slide when I hit it will advance the picture in the name of the student or students who get the award you're going
to come up to the front here to this table up front where the presenters either there's somebody who's from the outside from a scholarship provider that will come and present their award to you or you might receive your award from uh any one of our uh other administrators who are here with us this evening uh we have Dr Spencer from Humanities Mr Hill from stem and Mrs shidi as an assistant principal they'll come up and do that after you get your reward you're going to come over here right in front of this beautiful brand new Brookfield Bobcats backdrop and one of our staff will take a formal picture uh with you we're going to leave this backdrop here all night so when you're done with the ceremony if you want to come up and take
a picture you certainly can do that uh I think that's it for all the questions I'm looking at Lisa and making sure she hides behind yeah I think we're pretty good so time to get started this is slide one of 104 that is not an exact exaggeration a little bit of a challenge I know I see some kids like oh what yeah get get comfy I know I'll move through a relatively quickly though as we celebrate our students tonight so this here is our agenda for the evening uh after the pledge we'll move to undergraduate Awards followed by a number of different awards for the members of the class of 2024 but first up before we get this the rest of the awards started we're going to do the Pledge of Allegiance I'd like to
call up the president of student council Miss Isabella [Applause] I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liy and justice for all right so first up are our undergraduate Awards the majority of these awards are presented to 11th grade students uh with the PTO recognizing a select few nth and 10th graders um Brookfield High School faculty and staff nominate students for these Awards there are additional awards given to students in all grades for their achievement in a particular course those Awards will be will be presented in ilt tomorrow so let's get to the first award this year's Bowden book award goes to an 11th grade female who has demonstrated extraordinary service and deep commitment to the common
