001you ready aaron uh yeah go ahead all right so i'd like to call the special meeting of the brookfield board of like to call the special meeting of the brookfield board of education for um for wednesday what's today the 23rd 23rd um to order we have five members of our uh board of education present um uh i'm expecting uh mr murphy to be joining in progress and i know um mrs brooks had a had a conflict that she could make it tonight we have one one item on our agenda and i'll just jump right to it um and amy i'm not sure if you have it in front of you if you want to read the motion okay i will move that the board amend the effective date of the action taken at the board's
002february 14th meeting from march 1st 2022 to february 28 2022. okay it's been moved and seconded uh dr bruhl do you have anything you'd like to uh comment on before we vote and discuss sure well first of all i'd like to thank the board for gathering um uh for this meeting thank you for your support and flexibility um just really bringing it back quickly for everyone is this board uh and the superintendent we acted so quickly on uh monday to really move on the getting our public health and medical advisors and their advice and put that presentation together for monday february 14th it literally was i think about an hour and a half after our senate voted and at that time it wasn't clear that we could actually start with the optional mask and the
003mandate would no longer necessarily be a mandate as of monday february 28th we thought you had to work it through monday the 28th all the way till midnight and then be effective for march 1st which is a tuesday uh we were one of the first districts in the state to get together and have such a vote and so moving that quickly it became clear uh the next day that we actually could make the uh that the mandate wasn't uh in place for monday the 28th that's the first piece um and so we can we can effectively uh do what we're doing tonight the other piece is that um in in talking with uh mr belden uh when i asked him if we could uh convene the board uh it was i had checked with the
004team and it just is simpler to understand and pretty much easier for everyone if we start on a monday fresh at the beginning of the week rather than uh masking on on monday mandatory and then making it optional next tuesday um so we wanted to just follow along with the way the executive order plays out and what makes most sense for the students the staff and the families thank you any uh questions for dr burrell or any discussion on the motion [Music] okay hearing none all in favor aye all right okay it's unanimous um so um thank you all very much and uh thank you dr burrell and i promise we would do this quickly it's five minutes and without objection the meeting is adjourned thanks for your support everybody i'll send a communication tomorrow
