all right good evening good evening Brookfield High School parents students staff family my name is mark Belinda and I am the proud principal of Brookfield High School I'm here watching the livestream to see if it actually works this is probably the most surreal experience that I've ever had and now I can see myself on delay coming across the screen so weird but thank you for joining me tonight I'm really excited to be here and to get to award and recognize some of our students this presentation was put together virtually it was done so with a couple recordings you're going to hear the names read of those people that are recognized those students are going to be read by some of our teachers and administrators and hopefully we won't have any technical issues at least that's
my hope I know this isn't an ideal situation watching on a screen from far away and you might not even be able to see me on the side this is not what I will call our new normal this is a temporary solution this is something we're just doing for now I want to make sure we recognize our students for all their achievements they've done such great things this year and we are so proud of them so I figured why not do in the auditorium it's a little weird being in an empty auditorium just me the camera and the screen but let me begin with congratulations you know I want to make sure that the students understand even though I'm not with them today and I haven't seen them in quite some time I am still
proud and they deserve a lot of congratulations distance-learning this last several months has not been an easy thing to do in fact it's harder for some than it is for others but everybody's really stepped up I'm quite proud of our students and our staff who've really adapted and done their best to really to a difficult situation one day March 12th it's a normal day of school and the next day the school year essentially ended in so many ways because they didn't get to see their students again and students didn't get to see their teachers so just as learning it's okay it's not the best it's not the best but we're working on it so there are some students that I know are working really hard and I want to recognize those students right now that
continue to work hard during distance learning so here are the distance learning Awards like to give them to Belen Aguayo Grady bomba Lucas canibble Alan mathe and Nicolas Santos so congratulations to those five students for their hard work during distance learner well we've been a distance away from each other there's been so many that's really kind of stepped up and we create this award out of thin air really it's called the stem service award so this award goes to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding application of stem principles and processes to solve a problem affecting our community ghovat 19 unexpectedly created an overwhelming need for PPE among health care workers to ease the discomfort of wearing masks for extended periods of time this student suggested producing ear savers using our school's 3d printers since
then this student has played an integral role in every part of the 3d printing initiative from distribution to record-keeping to grant writing to 3d printing to purchasing and even the troubleshooting of all associated technology issues they have followed his volunteer they dedicated countless hours almost every day of the last three months to this 3d printing initiative this student has single-handedly printed and donated over 2,000 ear savers to almost 100 different healthcare workers and first responders around Connecticut this stem service award goes to Logan white you are a true leader among your peers in a dedication to our community is both remarkable and greatly appreciated so here's our first test as we move to our departmental awards let's see what happens next hopefully the recordings work the way they're supposed to we're gonna start theoretically hearing
