all right I'll say that again welcome um so thrilled that you're all here tonight and uh thank you for being here uh before we even start with Pledge of Allegiance um we had a a tremendous meeting tonight uh we we um appointed our new pupil Personnel director and it's Barbara McLean right here and Barbara's here tonight and she accepted she's stepped it all off of it and we wouldn't let her out the door till she did so uh but we're thrilled to have her and uh I'm sure you all get a chance to to meet her at some point she'll be part of the administration team and she'll be up and about but uh welcome Barbara and thank you for staying for the meeting or for whatever part of the meeting you want to stay

for happy to be here okay uh with that we'll kick it off with the Pledge of Allegiance who would like to lead us tonight okay thank you sir all right of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty Justice for tomorrow thank you thank you I'm going to remind everybody a couple times that this Friday uh the uh Canton Granby football team plays 6 30 our field it's our one home game Khalil is a member of the team and uh everybody can get out there we got to fill that stands for these guys and Bella I went to the um coffee house uh that was a phenomenal uh presentation I don't know did I catch you on that which part wait you got

to remind me um okay I happen to leave towards again to go check on basketball but they and it was just a wonderful success and we need to do more get more parents out for that too I know you guys are fundraising because that was fantastic okay so the who girls are well the volleyball goes I went to the volleyball game yesterday and and the team didn't show until like I waited for like a half hour I saw the freshman game and then um was it East Windsor they didn't show to like 5 30. oh was it Ellington yeah okay yeah yeah so we have the girls if you'd rather be inside you've got the girls playing volleyball we got a great night um and then there's you better check on basketball tomorrow whether they're

moving to have it because you got a volleyball going in okay so a lot of activity and one of the things I love about Canton is you know I went I was there yesterday and it was football in one field there was soccer on another girls volleyball and another school's being used Friday night we had um the um Coffee House going on and basketball going on so wonderful things going on in Canton so everybody um you know if you can make an event please make that event all right so information reports we're going to start off with our student reports uh sure um you can stand do you like okay sure that's great uh so for our Pass events uh Wednesday September 14th was uh Sherwood Primary School open house and curriculum night as well

as a CHS class student parents tonight Tuesday September 20th was a Canton High School in Canton middle school early release day Thursday September 22nd for let's say CIS curriculum night Friday the 23rd was the CHS coffee house Monday the 26th we were off because of our four Rosh Hashanah on Tuesday the 27th there's an early release from all right okay okay for um upcoming events Saturday October 1st is going to be the music mattress fundraiser at 10 A.M to raise money for the Disney trip Wednesday October 5th there's not going to be any schools until Yom Kippur Friday October 7th will be early release for all schools and Monday October 10th there won't be any school due to indigenous people's day we're ongoing uh fall School sports teams are continuing their Seasons I included some

of the games and dates for when we have home games under the lights if you'd be interested in attending and the high school fall plans begun and we'll have an anticipated performance in November the day before or tonight I believe there was a soccer game and then there's football tomorrow and there's a soccer game Saturday the volleyball on Friday night and field hockey has a game Friday as well or uh tomorrow as well there is a lot going on oh Alice in Wonderland there's a concert there's a Disney Concert I think towards the end of October which is going to be fantastic it's a Saturday and if you can make that that also is a fundraiser now this mattress fundraiser is a big deal because you can make a lot of money on these mattress

things because everybody whether you have a a room upstairs that needs a new mattress or maybe you're a summer Cottage or whatever it may be so uh this is a big fundraiser for the kids that are trying to get to Disney the music program getting to Disney so if you can uh you need a mattress and see the uh where's that going to be it's going to be at the high school and kind of and it's all mattresses too it's it's um you know it's it's all good stuff who's putting it on is it sleepies or but independent company it's an independent but they can do it because they don't have either ah it's beautiful but it's all good stuff yeah Beautyrest and all that so um if you need a mattress tell your friends

okay all right perfect um okay thank you for the student reports any questions for the students okay thank you okay Nora you want to talk to us about the um overnight trip to the uh un sure thing so first of all let me uh introduce you North sorry um for our board members who may not have met Nora this is Nora mccarski who is our uh outstanding social studies department chair for Canton middle school and high school and um for several years now Nora has taken our students to participate in the overnight United Nations trip um some it's it's a it's a trip that our students remember years later as one of the best experiences in the Canton Public Schools and we're so grateful that Nora that you take the time to organize this well

thanks for being here tonight to present your proposal which will need to be approved by our board thank you for the introduction I know that this is your first read um I do have a handout that I'd like to give you that gives you the overview of of the model un program and the history and some of the awards that we've won and then you prepare for your reads I have some links that are attached to it but I realize your agenda is full so I'd like to to just be in and out if you would because I know you've got a busy day thank you Nora's also a board of ed member in Winchester so she understands what it's like to sit in your seats Nora also runs the student election when when you

run for board so if you want to get jiggy with Nora we used to relax this year we've got the governor right right a year from now I'm already thinking about you to learn all right okay uh the program's been in existence since uh 2007 to 08 so this is the 15th year and we've taken hundreds of kids and I've lost count um but I I do want to say we went from 12 to 60 kids at its Max right before covet shut us down and uh so I call this a rebuild because the two years without actually going someplace is really more or less devastated the club so I'm rebuilding it reconstructing it I had 17 kids going and ready to go to Yale last year but then Yale went virtual so all but

two dropped out because they all want to go to campus they all have a great time there and so it was really a Hands-On Club so uh the good news is though I've enrolled about we've got for UConn seven kids enrolling to date for Hartford 14 to date and yeah we've got 16 to date that are rolling so that's good to see this interest that's coming back but what is model un essentially it's role play kids act as a delegate it's a simulation they go to a college campus they meet other students depending upon the actual event could be from everywhere around the world or they meet kids from other parts of Connecticut or they meet kids from New England it just depends on the conference when they go the point that they go there

with is that they've identified a problem they've done some research on the global problem but they have to do it from the perspective of their country that they're representing so it can be Jordan it could be Saudi Arabia so they have to learn something about the issue they have to learn something about the country and then they have to learn about the country's position on the issue and then they have to find solutions to those issues and they write and what they do is they write position papers and they come into the room with maybe as few as 15 kids or as many as 100 kids depending on the camp of the actual event and then they have to work to negotiate with the other persons inside the room to try to find a resolution

to that and then now you go through voting procedure so the other really neat thing about all of this is they learn parliamentary procedure so the reason why I like this this actual this club is because they could be you someday sitting here in a board of bed running parliamentary procedure passing motions and voting and that sort of stuff go to bed Board of Finance very very acute very specific to New England towns so um these are the things that the student must do examples of topics just so you know vary from meat to meet conference to conference so these are just some samples and over the years there have been hundreds of different issues that have just come and gone depending upon the global crises so I just wanted to you know give you

a hint of what is there students could typically choose an area of interest um what happens though is sometimes we're given a country so we might be I don't know Uzbekistan and we're stuck with that within that though there might be 16 different topics and so we go through we have meetings as needed after school this is all an after school program and then we go through the process of selecting topics based on student interest and then we go seniors to freshmen sorry sometimes the freshmen don't get their number one pick with topics um but in the end it's more than just that sort of academic although that's huge writing position papers resolutions they're working with leadership inside the room they work with conflict resolutions cooperation negotiation all of those are great things including public

speaking um particularly the one that we're talking about tonight is Yale which is an overnight trip it's two nights three days we do leave campus on Thursday um the kids go till Thursday night to midnight and then Friday morning we wake up late thank God and then we're able to visit the Yale campus in the morning we have lunch with professors we can sit in on lectures and call in the campuses we can go to the Yale British Art Museum because we have free tickets tickets we go to Starbucks that's very important we do a lot of different things and then the lunches and everything is there all the restaurants it's like they're exploring the Yale campus they're exploring and they're really availing themselves to the high school kids there's about a thousand that pop

onto that campus for Thursday night Friday and Saturday they do continue to Sunday but by the time Friday night rolls around I'm in a coma and I need to go to bed so we're done at 7 30. I need you to know when parents know this every year that Canton pulls out at 7 30 on Saturday night and no you cannot stay with your child Saturday night for the delegate dance or Sunday morning for the final session because that violates the Yale policy we have to be in agreement with their contract and the parents are simply not legally responsible for them when Canton is sponsoring this event so they know that in parent permission slip that when they sign on to it they're agreeing that they can't stay there and they they even if their

parents stay one year that happened and I kind of had a cow but um so they're in the ration I was inside the permission slip kids need to do their homework I need to do my homework so so it usually you know the kids they're like fine we're out so that's 7 30 on sun on Saturday night so Thursday leaving school so they only miss Friday school and then of course Saturday we're working and we work again until Saturday night they're tired and it's it's an excellent program it's an International Conference which makes it unbelievable there are kids that will fundraise around the world for their entire year and this will be the lifetime event for them whereas for Canton it's only an hour away and that like when they when they start talking to

kids in their delegations you're from where and how long have you been Jordan Azerbaijan Saudi Arabia China these kids come in and they meet with them and some of the rooms are 15 like I said some of them are 40 it all depends on the topic and that here's the cost of the Board of Ed the transportation here is is because of the busing back and forth I've done some shopping I've tried to look at other places like Student First and depco by far enlargement um Martel is the cheapest bus that I've ever experienced and then we have the advisor fees in school tuition entrance fees that they sometimes charge and it's been year to year this way students for Yale pay for their own hotel so right now what I'm accepting from them is

a pair of permission slip with the understanding we pull out on Saturday and a deposit for the delegate fee that way I know they're committed and then I go through the process of booking the hotel and then I distribute the hotel costs amongst the students I go I do get the ratio 1 1 to 10 for chaperones it is an overnight trip for teachers so we do need to put substitutes in there for Friday but it's either time Thursday night it is their time uh Friday night and it's their time all day Saturday so the distribution for the cost for The Chaperone hotel room plus their parking plus their meals which is like a little snack in the morning lunch does go out to the students it's my way in which I can say to

a teacher come on I need you completely chaperone okay so that sort of helps us out a little bit and over time I've got teachers like pick me pick me and I think that's a really good experience um there are persons that go to these particularly Yale that might bring a yes speaker these people come from all over the world they come from the UN itself they talk about global issues depending upon the target of the day so the experience and the exposure is phenomenal um over time we've had best delegation which means Canton kids have worked together in a group of three or four they've done their research they've done their presentation they've controlled the room in the debate and in the end judges for that debate has awarded them the best delegation that's

happened twice at University of Hartford we've had a best delegate out of Yukon come out of here Clark wahlberger I don't know if you remember him he's a former Canton student out of 350 kids at UConn they picked him to be the best delegate out of all of the kids around the state of Connecticut and New England he walked down from this Auditorium everybody stood for him because he was the best Delegate for that particular year I think that was his senior year um and then what happens with you Hal the reason why we go to that is because I call that a JV meet high school kids are in charge of it so it gives our high school kids an opportunity to run it be part of the diocese so they learn parliamentary procedure

they're committed to going they're committed to two training sessions at Night by the world affairs Council so they're given that exposure to very Del you know dedicated training in the Parliamentary procedure then that rolls into the final piece which is our feeder program in-house here at Canton these kids then help me with the seventh grade model un that happens in this classroom or these rooms in May and then it's also a theater program because they help my teachers then with the seventh with the 10th grade curriculum current Global issues because that's parliamentary procedure too so our kids are applying what they're learning as the club is feeding then our curriculum um so I think that's kind of neat and um you know who knows maybe the run for office which I just have to say

this kid is a former high school graduate from Canton High School and he did the model un he went to college at Union College after graduation and he felt he wasn't challenged enough he applied to Yale because he heard about and knew what Yale was he said to me you know I didn't know what Yale was I mean I knew what Yale was but I didn't really think of it but then I did the model un and I got to learn about Yale so he said you know let me apply to Yale my sophomore year so he transfers to Yale his sophomore year in college he's now a graduate of Yale he pays for it through ROTC four years active duty is now a captain of his ROTC unit he's on active duty and he's

running for office where in the Fairfield County area I don't know the district number but it's Fairfield it's um it was just down there the other day what's outside oh sorry state center yeah is that Carter I'm sorry I'm sorry it's Tim Gavin Tim Gavin Jim Gavin's son um so they're residents here in Winstead where am I nope um so um it was really great to see the the the basically the fruition of a program that started with him and now he's actively running for office and to watch him sort of grow up through this program it's just for me been surreal it's been awesome so anyway that's what you're approving or hopefully going to approve when you do your first read and talk it over I'm here for questions if you need okay thank

you for that presentation really interesting by the way so questions Ryan I'll start with you anything okay and that's I I was on mute sorry no no questions students on campus at this time or this is this break no they're on campus okay so um the Thursday night Friday Saturday Sunday there's fewer students because obviously fewer students but the building is more available to us so that's why we're not there in the middle of the day but yes the college kids are there the college kids are at UConn college kids run it their UConn Yale kids run it at Yale and Hartford University Hartford kids are there but it's it's not like I don't see that much Erica uh how many students per room typically four four depending upon the funding and how I can

work this out sometimes we've had a three so you're staying at just a general Hotel yeah there are uh four contracted hotels with the Yale organization so they do a special deal because it's over a thousand kids that come in so they're reserved rooms on the side with that deal so we've come from La Quinta which was interesting I've evolved away from La Quinta and we've done um the University of uh what is it my goodness New Haven hotel which is right around the corner we don't do the Omni because it's too expensive um we do bust down there but we don't bust back as a way to kind of cut costs or defray some of the costs to the district um because the other two conferences are are very bus involved kids can choose

where they want to eat so that might defray some costs they can bring their own bags lunches if they choose to and the variety of food is like I said it's an open if you will Zone and we have meetings about go zones and no-go zones um and the kids are usually pretty pretty respectful of that thank you Joe it's a great program Laura I have a long history too the Yukon and the uh trips are not overnight no school bus back and forth or parents School Bus Tracker did you notice Mr Wahlburgers interview on The Today Show I did not yeah um Peggy I'm sorry Russell I missed you I'm good thank you Peggy anything else yeah Kim okay we'll make this part of the first reading and then we will uh look at

it the next but I think everybody's your favorite is your you do one a month right no two two so the second Thursday the second Tuesday in um October October 11th okay will that work out for you yeah would you like a soft vote on this just no that's okay okay thank you no I just remind us the dates of the trip yes okay so the first one in November which is Yukon the first weekend okay Hartford is December 3-4 and then the Yale one is in January 2019 2021. that's usually when we have to talk we always seem to have weather issues still yeah not this upcoming year thank you thank you okay uh Mr Case superintendent Chinese thank you so much good evening everybody um as Mr Daniels said at the beginning of

our meeting we want to welcome Barbara McLean to our uh Canton Public Schools um Barbara was um was chosen as our candidate after an extensive recruiting and interview process so a few a few months ago actually in August the position was posted um and I'm just saying this so that the public knows the process that we've gone through um we received 10 applications interviewed four candidates and I want to thank the individuals who volunteered to be on the interview committee um Erica Hayes was our Board of Education representative two parents from our community Liz Chicos and Mandy record and our administrators Dr Ruth Kidwell assistant principal of Canton High School Mr Drew de pippo Canton High School principal Tina Olson Middle School special education teacher Wendy Haller preschool teacher at Canton Intermediate School Tina murali

administrative assistant to the director and Mr Bishop and I we were all part of the interview committee interviewed four candidates two finalists emerged from that committee and um the two finalists met with our administrative team and we're fortunate enough to come to consensus that Barbara was our candidate and tonight red had a conversation with Barbara and appointed uh Barbara Barbara's been director of people Personnel Services in the town of New Hartford for the past seven years and has a proven track record of advocating for students and closing the achievement Gap with students with high needs so with Barbara's uh personality and her professional experience uh Barbara you will be a great addition to our team welcome and thank you to all of our community members who assisted Us in the selection process I want to

let you all know that we have held all of our curriculum nights very successfully at each of our schools and I included in your packet um public comment that we received after our last board meeting from Mrs Lisa Coggins so you can take a look at that but I think Mrs Coggins comments epitomizes what most parents said about curriculum night specifically at the high school she states like a new student I had a bit of anxiety about attending Canton High School's curriculum night I forgot to bring my students schedule and I had no idea where to go but by the end of the night I was joking with the other parents and smiling as I walked to my car thinking about all the amazing teachers I had just met in person for the first time

in two years so um thank you uh Mrs Coggins for that comment uh the teachers really appreciated it and all of the teachers in our district did a great job of talking with parents about what the expectations for their grade level or Department were so I thank all of them I also want to thank all of you as board members for providing the professional development time for our staff again this year Tuesday we had our early release date for the entire staff and the entire staff was able to work on their own individual teaching goals that are aligned with the school goals and we Mr Bishop and I received emails from the principals Thanking us for that time how productive that time was uh for the teachers that two-hour time period And so um well

I know it can be an inconvenience for our parents to have early release days just know it is greatly appreciated by our staff and it helps their own professional growth as well just a reminder to the board also that our professional development calendar which Mr Bishop went over with you in the spring is being implemented this year and most of the professional development is happening at the school building level when the principals speak to you in the upcoming months about what's happening at their schools they'll be able to let you know specifically what school goals they're working on so you'll hear more about that um this afternoon I was so inspired um as we held our fifth year of our emotional intelligence Academy which kicked off you know um as you know uh for the

past four years this being our fifth teachers have volunteered not only teachers but our instructional staff are non-certified personnel staff members had volunteered to be present for 10 hours throughout the year five two hour sessions where they're learning about social emotional learning strategies they can Implement in their classroom the next day no matter what grade they're teaching pre-kindergarten through grade 12. and Dean Morris is a consultant that we contract with she's been working with us for six years so she and I facilitate these sessions and all of our new teachers are part of these sessions and I was so inspired today by the new teachers that we've hired how fortunate we are that we were able to hire experienced teachers who had experience in other districts that wanted to come to Canton as well as

brand new teachers and we already started learning so much today in our two hour session so I just wanted to let you know that we kicked that off this year and that aligns with our goal our goal of establishing a more positive School culture in each of the schools and providing our students with that social emotional Learning Foundation which we know is so important if they're going to achieve in high academic level those are the three items I wanted to report to you on tonight and I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have questions for the superintendent Kevin for the Academy um because every year you new teachers who have not been through it can can join on right what's the percentage would you say like a rough estimate of Staff that's been

trained I mean I know we get new staff too but you think that yeah so we've had over a hundred teachers trained and um we have about 144 certified teachers so some of the staff members are non-certified um so I'll need to count up the number of certified but my plan was over seven years to train the entire certified staff so we are getting there it's a very interactive session which is why it would be challenging to have all of the teachers together in one room together to you know together so to have 15 to 25 participants this year each year is what we're that's what our goal is and it's been very successful it's spreading By Word of Mouth one staff member who's been with us for 23 years said she felt the calling

to be here this year and that that was terrific to hear she's hearing staff that wants to go gets an opportunity everyone's invited because he works itself out yeah um in our last meeting our bus schedules just weren't uh um in sync completely has that been work worked through so that's improving it's improving Lou um no parent uh concerns have come to my desk over the past two weeks about that yeah but if parents do have concerns then they should reach out to Donna misakowski our business manager who's also our transportation coordinator and we'll resolve that I know there was one just resolved this week um absolutely there were a few factors involved with that one but um four weeks now into the school year our bus schedule should be working out but if they're

not we want to hear from you because we'll work closely with Martel and do what we can within our control to assist so we adjusted some of the times of some of the buses that we're getting there earlier but the time students can go in the high school is still 7 20. oh it is okay but it's working out it's working okay and then um just I know we had that one cam up do we have a report on is that working is it um is it functioning the way it should yes the camera is functioning as it should and later on in the agenda I'll bring to you um a final proposal based upon what we discussed at the last month's board meeting about purchasing nine additional cameras great okay so um you'll have

a chance to take action on that later on in our meeting okay any other questions Ryan do you think for the superintendent okay thank you all right so the Cherry report today is going to be a little lengthy um I have nothing to report so I have nothing to report to the board today so that's great Okay so we've re-jiggered our um agenda so that you can the public and whoever's on um via Zoom had a chance to hear these reports and kind of catch up and now we move into our public forum so you can tell that we moved it back a little bit just so that we can uh we can report better to uh to the parents uh so they can hear some of the things that are going on so with

that we go into public forum and uh we'd love to hear your comments or questions we try to minimize it to keep it to three minutes uh if you could and uh so I'll open it up if you could just state your name and your address for public Farms yes sure hi I am Margaret Lynch and I'm at 42 Park Drive uh it was awesome being able to go to open a house this year in person and seeing the teachers that my kids have you know they're really engaged personable I really appreciated the glimpse into their daily lives however I was totally horrified when I looked up on the ceiling and saw Wi-Fi routers what I believe to be Wi-Fi routers on the ceiling in every classroom in very close proximity to our children's heads

my children have been instructed to look up and move their seat away from these toxic radiation and spewing antennas but most parents and teachers and you know administrators they really don't know but these things are dangerous to be this close to um and whoever okayed for those to be on the ceiling obviously didn't know either so I kind of thought about it for the whole week like should I like comment on this and I had a whole bunch of questions for you all um so one like do you know that the current FCC human exposure guidelines to RF radiation were developed back in the 1980s and adopted by the FCC in 1996 so that's a really long time ago the guidelines were developed by Engineers not biologists and they're based exclusively on thermal for heating

body tissue those effects on the full-size adult male not on children not on women and they totally ignore non-thermal biological effects uh did you know that many negative non-thermal effects from this microwave radiation include genetic mutations egg and sperm mutations infertility miscarriage behavioral issues like ADHD autism anxiety depression headaches flu-like symptoms immune system problems hypersensitivity opening of the blood-brain barrier and blood cell grouping did you know that the FCC guidelines only average the exposure over a short period of time from any only one device and that's only 30 minutes they're not looking at long-term exposure over the course of a day a week a month a year many years sitting under those things they also ignore the cumulative readings from multiple devices that are open at once so think about your child's classroom there are

multiple Chromebooks on at once the Wi-Fi routers or cell phones there's Bluetooth there's Wireless air pods there's wireless printers there's cell tower antenna outside of the environment so this is all cumulatively impacting their bodies and no one is checking um so if you look at the legal limits from the FCC did you know that their guidelines are 100 times over that of China and Russia it's kind of like setting a speed limit of 100 miles per hour in a school zone okay it's not safe and they're not protecting our children's health or the faculty in the building either um so who is responsible for putting that those Wi-Fi routers this close to children did they not do their homework I know I've sent a plethora of information in the past I would have hoped that

we shared with the boat or bed uh so I will hand you some more information tonight I brought a whole bunch of letters in here actually my printer ran out of ink so there's several that are missing but I will email you can just give them to Claudia and she'll make sure we get them um and so there's a bunch of letters in there to read about Wi-Fi and it's harms on kids um I'm closing it out in three or three minutes um so who was measuring the radiation from the antenna in the classroom s uh what are your mitigation strategies do Educators actively instruct kids to protect devices in airplane mode and use best practices like powering down routers streaming only when necessary turning off excessive antennas keeping distance in routers from the routers

when using the wireless devices and then an email came from our Canton officials looking for suggestions from residents on Capital expenditures and I thought wouldn't it be awesome if we not only teach best practices to minimize exposure but had our classrooms hardwired with many ports for ethernet connections using fiber optic cable with the money fiber optic is safer faster more reliable and more secure so I'm presenting this idea to you tonight hardwire our classrooms and lower the cumulative radiation you're penetrating into our kids I'm putting into public record this idea of creating high performance hardwired schools using ethernet connections as well as mitigating techniques to reduce RF variation in our classrooms I'm also including a legal memorandum so you are informed of potential legal consequences of exposing children who are getting radiation from the wireless

devices within our school routes right so I have a bunch of stuff thank you Margaret very interesting thank you for those comments anyone else for the public forum yes I'm just really happy to be here tonight in person um because I couldn't make it last time I'm hoping that tonight there's different proposal for the bus dash cameras and um that it gets approved I just want to thank everybody here in the Canton Police Department and the um the hotel bus company for making the bus stash cameras a priority um I don't know if any of you have seen the videos on the Facebook but um there's been some really horrible stories um terrifying stories I've seen some things myself it's very emotionally jarring and I just you know it would be great if people followed

the law and obeyed the bus safety but they don't and I know that every parent who uses the best service will be happy to know that the offenders will pay the price um for their recklessness once we get the dash cameras just the other thing I wanted to mention was um the half days of school you know I don't mind happening as a school personally but um there's just a little bit of a communication disconnect about lunches um I I guess they have they're offered now on half days I didn't know that um I don't know what the procedure is going forward um for the lunches I think I think they're just like a management issue about it so I just wanted to bring it to your attention um I think it's a new thing

that we didn't have before I like that it's offered but I just think there's a little bit of a communication disconnect there about it in a particular school oh at the high school okay yeah okay you're right it's the first time lunch is being offered and we're working that into the schedule so it sounds tricky middle school as well I understand it's a new state law that we need to all schools now need to offer lunches on early release days and that's something that came out in late summer after our schedules were developed so okay so we're working on that but yeah I know It's tricky because then it like really reduces the productivity and you have to like figure out how to get lunches crammed in there as well thank you we're continuing to

refine that thank you and thank you for your last public comment so I'm just going to make a statement on on the buses just generally nothing unleashes uh discussion but um and we are working on that and we always maintain that uh student health and safety is our priority but enforcement is not the Board of Education enforcement is the police department I know the chief is doing everything he can and Martel is participating in that but I just want to make sure that folks know we are as outraged as Citizens but it's not really a board issue as far as enforcement goes we're happy to get these cameras on to support and help the only reason why the cameras more voted on last time is because Dean Martell wasn't sure if the cameras were going

to work well enough for us to move it forward apparently the superintendent will have more on that later but um you know safety is certainly a number one priority for us but it is it is a town uh issue with respect to enforcement on that okay thank you again Lisa okay anybody else for public forum tonight in Rome okay then we'll go online if you're joining us online tonight you can go ahead and use the raise hand feature zoom and I'll call on you by your Zoom name I don't have any friends thank you Kara hearing none will close up public forum thank you very much everybody for your comments and thank you for attending tonight it's always nice to see uh smiling faces we appreciate the comments okay uh information reports can we go

right to Donna or you want to uh no we can go right to uh business manager I'll just say just very quickly um it's at this time of the year that we ask you to approve the financials for our summer months July and August and um Donna will talk about this but um there are areas in the salary line items that we are still examining closely it really takes us three months into the school year to ensure that whatever grant funding we have that that's applied to the salaries of the people who are Grant funded so some of the figures you'll see in the salary line items will change when we meet again on October 11th so I just wanted to preface down this report by saying that right thank you absolutely um yes that

is totally true um in fact our grant report is not in here because we're still working on it uh that is very we have the Auditors in for the last three weeks or the last two weeks but I'm still working with the Otters very intensely this week and grants are a big piece of that so the whole Grant financial statement isn't even in here yet um because of that we don't even know how that you know we're still auditing last year's so it's all a process so which was part of so and the other thing is is uh you know it's only the first couple payrolls uh that we've had in September going to be here so we can't even see how it's all fleshing out and we try to go through everybody individually but

that's pretty difficult until you see how it flushes out in the financial statements in September so uh so that is absolutely true uh so um the audit by the way is going in very well uh hoping to uh so uh okay so if you see the financial statements and the financial highlights um you can see the first item of uh 9 4 100 uh and that's because the PPS director we were uh paying the PPS director as well as the interim director so that's probably a real variance uh that may continue um I I want to also qualify that it's so early in the year any variance that I speak of right now as things go through the year you know we might be able to cover these in other areas so I wouldn't Panic

about anything that we're seeing this early in the year it's quite possible that it's all going to be covered um the next item is the PPS speech language and that was an additional ft based on IEP requirements uh and then one of the items that Kevin spoke of well that one looks bad right now but it won't be so bad uh in the future uh is this the special ed para educator um so just stay tuned for that item so don if I could just add to that so these are we always like to break out the special education expenses Barbara I'm so glad you're here tonight we always like to break out the special ad expenses as you know because they change on a daily basis uh the overage in the PPS director is

because of um contractual uh payout time along with the hiring of the interim director as Donna said we needed to hire a 0.1 FTE additional speech language pathologist that's a half a day additional than we budgeted for and then with new students entering over the summer who had individualized education plans that required one-to-one para Educators we needed to hire additional pairs then that we budget that we did not budget for we also have students in our choice program who are new to us this year who came with IEPs and just a reminder to the board whatever Services students need we can build the city of Hartford for those Services if we did not budget for them so part of this number will be billed to Hartford too but we don't have that exact number for

you right now right okay um so as far as other non-special expenses uh we have CHS classroom teachers uh and this is also an item in review there is going to be some wage differential for some of the uh teachers that we've had to hire for instance physics teachers and the higher level teachers they're they're difficult to find so there is going to be a wage differential piece here um but we will be looking at these numbers like I said some of them may be able to go to a grant as they get further into the process uh so again don't panic stay tuned um the maintenance uh item of thirty thousand dollars and change uh that was because you notice we did do the extensive grounds up key um that we really honestly needed

and hadn't done in quite a while so it wasn't budgeted for um will be in the future um but uh again likely you know uh we'll be able to cover this president of the year but just wanted to highlight that right now may I interrupt on that one absolutely so I noticed that um we saved some money on a couple of the uh and we may even save more money in HVAC of some of the projects that you listed in your email uh you were talking about cfp CIP uh yeah this wouldn't be a really easy idea it wouldn't cover on the seat because it's too small no because it's a it's kind of a maintenance kind of a thing it's not like a equipment building Improvement so that those funds can't be real right

right but February because it's September oh no no no I know I know we'll catch up yeah so [Music] um yeah and there's other things in that maintenance item I mean not a lot of things in this particular item um that we won't like I know we won't need to do so you know we're going to be reevaluing that uh every year and uh you know we have different maintenance contracts that we're looking at that we may be able to save on I was looking at some elevator contracts and it's like well why do we have two and you know that kind of thing so stay tuned we're working on it um okay uh the insurance item of 39 uh 100 uh that was a budgeting budgeting versus contract so it's a real variance but

you know again with all of these we'll see how it goes for the rest of the year but so that's some for for uh Martel transportation we should have budgeted fifty thousand dollars for that right but forty five thousand was budgeted right not 50. so that was a budgeting error yeah yeah yeah and I'm not even sure if the Martell was even finalized by then but uh but either way it is what it is uh and then the technology supplies of six thousand that's you know very possible to be moving to a grant so kind of stands out in the financial statements um but uh you know as a negative variance and that's what I'm identifying here is just the negatives you know there's many positives as well uh and then the other item that

I have is a note down here is you if you look at the financial statements you're going to be seeing is huge uh negative in the health and dental insurance and that's an encumbrance that uh is basically an error to be corrected Next Period I just can't do it on these financial statements because it's through the payroll system so we'll see that disappearing and clearing up uh so um I think that is all in the financial statements unless the board has any questions Russell we're good yeah that's what I want to check with you okay okay thank you okay and uh so as another part to when I submitted for the Capital Improvements like three pages from the bottom of the financial packet three tablespoon that I think yeah uh there's a an exhibit for

the capital Improvement project the budget reallocation and uh as you know we were doing some renovations in the tech ed area of the high school um and part of that was well it was all approved through the capital Improvement plan 55 000 of that was for the heating unit uh as an individual item and uh so uh that bid uh we kind of anticipated it was going to come in a little bit higher because of the economy right now uh so in anticipation of that it's probably coming in a little bit higher uh some other CIP items that we had gotten approved in the food service area uh was uh a new point of service system and some refrigeration and freezer freezer items at various schools uh those items because we anticipated we were going

to need some Savings in the ticket area uh we um we ended up paying those out of the food services and that's kind of a good thing because food services at this point in time which rarely ever happens over the years uh but the reimbursement rates were very very good over the last year or two so we've accumulated a balance we're only allowed to keep such a balance at a certain balance so it's kind of good that we're drawing down those funds so uh it kind of worked in good in two ways so those things we've we're still able to obtain uh but yet my request tonight is to reallocate the balance of those Food Service items to the uh tech ed heating unit mainly the Mini Splits uh so that we can we're getting

both done basically um and it's about it's about 21 584 short um of the original 55 000 is the bid that we got and Russell I know you had some questions earlier in the finance committee meeting although I don't have the exact number of heads we know that it's six or greater I did send you the bid specs on that we did go out to bid on that um we had a state bid that actually came in higher than the bid that we had and the bid that we have and would like to go with uh is our maintenance vendor that does all the maintenance in the district so it's kind of logical that they take that you know that they do that so let me ask it is this um is this at the

end are we moving this after dinner or you know my request would be that you vote on this under recommended actions okay just add this to the agenda if you're willing to anything else anything else Donna uh no I think that's good because that'll explain where the items are coming from thank you thank you Russell I'll just check with you on the finance committee meeting this morning anything you want to highlight no Donna pretty much covered everything that we talked about this morning because I agree any questions on the finances and I didn't know if you wanted to talk about the athletic piece we I am going to um if you can do that in uh three minutes or less okay well the only reason why is we want we're going to go into another

executive session okay gotcha yeah no this is fine this is um we had gotten some questions at the last board meeting about the cost per athlete for football or I shouldn't say that about additional funding requested for football so we had decided to put together a cost per athlete for each sport kind of determine where we stood between football and the other items so there's two pages of uh uh various ways to look at it for cost per athlete you can see that um so what we're going to do with that thank you very much I think that's all good information there's not much we can act on now because budgets are in place but what we wanted to see was you know where where it stood when they came and they made their presentation

clearly there's some inequity there here so I'm going to leave that to the superintendent during the budget process to come back to us to make any adjustments on that yeah that's good that's good that's good these are the adjustments that can be done well the budget's in they seem to be fine they seem to be getting along I would hate to there's a lot of adjustments going on in our budget right now between uh searches and things like that so I I would prefer not to make any adjustment this year but I certainly would like to have an impact for them for next year absolutely what Donna did was great because it really it is good yeah I think the idea helped you with that too right or no I took it from our budget

excellent this is all good information and we should uh keep that hang on to it because we're going to discuss it further I'm sure during the budget time all right one minute good good job so um let me explain before we go into the next report we are going to break for another executive session uh that has to do with the superintendent search so the board is the board is going to clear the room it should take no more than maybe 10 minutes um on that so if you wouldn't mind we're going to suspend for now for 10 minutes we'll suspend the uh video we'll come back after the video in about 10 minutes or so and I hate to clear the room like that but uh we're going to ask you to I mean

so um so hey Ryan I'm sorry it was just on the survey it was it wasn't a you know the world I get it I get it so I'm just I'm just a little hurt but that's okay I'll get over it so what what we're doing is we just made a motion to remove the minutes from the 9 13 2022 Boe meeting from the consent agenda and I have a first and a second I have a first from Peggy and second from Kim okay any any discussion on that no all those in favor then I rob you with us okay right okay good so that's unanimous now we're going to rescind we're gonna go back into those minutes and we're going to rescind the motion that gave me the authority to do the survey with

je Consulting allowing me to spend up to a thousand dollars so we're going to rescind that motion because we were all in the affirmative because when you rescind the motion it has to be from folks in the affirmative we had a 9-0 vote on that so can I have a motion to rescind the motion I just described thank you Erica and thank you Joe first and second okay so that's going to come out and then all those in favor aye okay so uh what that means is now that's so those minutes are going to be corrected they'll be they'll be in the packet next time to reflect this okay and now for these minutes I'm going to ask you to make a motion to accept the contract by cave Consulting for the purposes of doing

a a community-wide survey and allowing the board allowing the board chair to spend up to twenty five hundred dollars on the survey up to 25 not to exceed twenty five hundred dollars does that make sense okay is that okay Claudia you got that yeah okay so first in the second Joe on the first Ryan on the second thanks Ryan okay I want to get you into minutes but okay all those in favor I opposed okay so we're off the ground okay that's great we got that all set okay so that takes us now into uh Mr Bishop on a direct uh director of learning and Innovation report presentation the revised District website I'm excited about that I'm excited about it as well this is a project that we've been talking about for some time and

it's great to be able to see that it's coming here uh completion um and here is going to pull it up right here in just a second so this this is the look and all its Glory right here you've got a one pager for you as well to be able to take a look at but uh but we were yeah everybody get one yeah what we're excited about is uh being able to take good information that we had on our website from the past and being able to bring it into a little bit more of a contemporary View for the for the future representing who we are and and also who we espouse to be so if if uh Kerry if you just mine uh wouldn't mind just kind of hovering over each of the

different tabs across the top those those uh reflect the information that we have within each of the Departments within our school district we've got one for the district and Board of Education we've got one for Cherry Brook uh Primary School the Intermediate School the middle school and then the high school so quick access to everything right up right up at the top in the ribbon and then care if you wouldn't mind scrolling down a little bit for us here that that uh front matter ribbon will be able to change seasonally based on um what uh you know photos that we have that are coming in these next two sections were were areas that I know that the Board of Ed was um was interested in that the district was interested in being able to improve

upon as well District updates will be uh primary primarily information that would be front matter information about uh important postings of uh lunch information or maybe the bus reach changes the information that we want to get quickly to the eyes of of folks on the front page in addition to the links that we have in the page that'll be highlighted there the Board of Education updates and we've got a couple samples that are there right now uh those will be uh posted right in the front there uh front matter for folks so it'll be easy to see information dates um and updates from the Board of Education and then if you scroll down to the bottom quick access with four panels to be able to hit important documents and information throughout the district um we're

just really we're really excited about this uh we we hoped to be able to move this along a little bit faster our our partners at qsn have been um supportive in the past month or so with us to be able to provide some additional training for us to be able to refine uh where we're at and they're working on right now some file structures to make sure that everything ported over for us in the way that we really needed to so there's some little background work that's going on right now but they've been very responsive to us um one point that uh I know that we had talked about in in the past too is yeah the translation button would you mind just hitting that for me please and then go ahead and pick a

language for us here foreign so Access wise for our website um you know no matter where you are uh or what your need is you've got the opportunity to be able to come in and have access to my um fried rice right off that menu yeah a lot of options um well it came into Chinese [Music] a lot of options that are available for us to be able to engage in the information so um we're we're really excited about this uh it's by no means a a finished product because there's plenty of work that we're going to have to keep doing but it it provides a lot of really great opportunity for us to keep thinking about how to communicate with and engage our community so we're very excited about it I appreciate the time

that um uh Claudia my Administrative Assistant Lynn young Jeff delmastro um [Music] um Robin nardini um Sherry dadamo and um Joseph and Doran spent with us in training this past week and then we'll have some additional training coming up on October 7th for the rest of our Administrative Assistant staff to feel very comfortable in the interface of the the Essential Elements of this but then excited to be able to have this go live I think that this gives a crisp contemporary view of who the Canton Public Schools are and what our community looks like so Joe scheidler should policies should we have a tab for it if somebody wanted to reference our board policies should that be honest you got it it is hard to find so how did you download all those policies you

just that company did it or we've been working really hard over the summer Lou with a lot of clicking up the checklist no um all of our all of our policies are on um are updated on our cave website for things and so what we were able to do is just link everything back over with that and then all the content that we had primarily all the content that we had from our previous website because this is the same partner they were just able to put a new skin over a lot of stuff okay so everything that had been there is just refreshed correct okay that's great so I've always look back into the 20th century there um it looks great John on the bottom where you have uh Cherry Brook can intermediate Canton middle

Canton High School did you deliberately leave out central office uh part of part of the thought for that was just actually if you yeah scroll all the way all the way down oh District yeah yeah District gets to central office as well okay where is that right right but in terms of the number of times I can't remember the District phone number and I go to the website and I can't find the darn thing I can find it but it it's not those numbers and the person in charge the principles are readily available is there room to put central office or whatever you want to call it District yeah I'll double check on that but that's a good point I'd be happy to look into that one it's got to be first before Cherry record

it's the district office the superintendent's office yep well don't say that I know it has central office in the Square but it doesn't have it like Joe is saying down down at the bottom as a quick access to that so that's a good point and and the point that I think that you're bringing up with that is how do we give people the quickest access to the most important information for us so um phone number you know yeah okay the other the other question I have um because I've looked up I've gone online and typed in Canton Public Schools and there's a lot of cantons in the United States yep so it doesn't say like if it says Canton school should it underneath it say like Canton Connecticut or Connecticut or something like that because

I've gone to yeah there's Canton I think Michigan I don't know what one in every state I registered my my grandkids in Little League in Canton Massachusetts because I didn't distinguished the two yeah I get it so so welcome in Canton schools Canton Connecticut we do get a lot of calls like that yeah that's that's another good point of feedback happy to be able and and these are all these are all I I think we're going to continue to have these opportunities as we look at this and engage with it to say what can we do different what could we do better with this that's exactly what the process is all about so um I'm happy to be able to take both of those considerations back and see what we might be able to do

about that and then as you as you interface with this there are going to be things that we think maybe there's an opportunity to add something more to be able to be increasingly clear that's where we're looking to be able to keep building out the architecture of this but something really good that we'll be able to launch that we see by the end of October okay I mentioned Claudia the other day I mean speaking of this but our phone system's still screwed up as far as who's on there Sue McDonald's I just had a meeting with Donna and Jeff are working hard on it okay you think it would be an easy fix for some reason it isn't but more aware of it Lou and we're working hard on it every day right Jeff is

trying to figure out how to get rid of and it's all integrated because we're trying to make it kind of bigger than that you know our rules-based item of where she's hired into a certain role well they get this program and this program and this laptop that this Chromebook or you know it's kind of we're trying to integrate both of them um with that but yeah that's a big part of it Kira thanks for sharing that appreciate it okay I think this looks really nice though yeah yeah I'm I'm really pleased I'm really pleased with how how it came out visually yeah um and excited to be able to see it just keep growing with with content each of the individual School pages over time too you'll see that the banner changes for each school

to more closely represent what's what's happening in those areas too so and and calendar work that was another big point of uh conversation that we had to make sure that uh updated calendar information was going to be on there so we'll be integrating our Google Calendar our district Google Calendar to easily be accessible through this and then folks will be able to even sync that calendar with with their own calendars as well so do the PT ptos have a spot here I have to go back and look to to see would it make sense for them to have a spot but if I wanted to check for a PTO meeting or something would I want to it might look for maybe the web page it might already be on that I'd have to go back

and take a look but I'll do that and let y'all know all right they could let the administrative assistants know and have it put on hey great job thank you very much for the support to be able to make this happen too this is very exciting okay looks nice yeah it looks good really good okay so that that covers that so that takes us into recommended actions and I think so on the consent agenda we're pulling out September 13th you're not voting on that approval you're only voting on uh September 6th and then Mr Case the anonymous athletic donation [Music] thank you Lou so we had a parent um in appreciation of our Canton High School basketball program um his parents last child uh graduated can high school and it's a all of his children

were very active in the High School boys basketball program um that um there were boys playing in the basketball program however um what he's donating is one thousand dollars to the basketball program so it could benefit girls and boys basketball uh he wanted to remain anonymous so we're very grateful uh for uh this person's donation I happen to know who the person is so I will send a thank you note on your behalf and on behalf of the school district so that goes to the ad and the ad is going to decide how to you know based on working with the code sure so we're very grateful for this generous donation so I I ask that you accept this board policy is that any donation 500 or greater needs to come to you for approval

thank you and then there's one item that we just received that I'd like you to consider for the consent agenda this is a letter of resignation from Jordan last drop so Jordan is a preschool teacher at Cherry Brook Primary School one of our two Preschool teachers um she is uh um it's bittersweet she's resigning due to personal reasons um very um happily she um and her husband had um a baby a few months ago Jordan was on leave and she's decided to stay home with her her newborn so hard decision for her it's really hard for us because she's she's been with us for six years she's an outstanding teacher and hopefully she'll return at some point but she does need to resign at this point how do you feel that spot Kevin so we

will um post for it and we like we don't have an intro here now you thought she was coming back right so she is back uh she didn't come back she's resigning November 3rd oh okay so we have time to search for a replacement I'm grateful that she gave us 30 days notice okay can I have a motion to accept the consent agenda that include September 6th minutes the approval of the thousand dollar um donation and the um the resignation of our Preschool teachers thank you Joe thank you Erica first and second thank you Ryan for right here yeah um okay so uh any any other conversation on the consent consent agenda you know hearing none all those in favor aye opposed okay now we can move through this uh approval transfer of funds I

mean are we talking it no we're not doing that okay that's later on okay that's a separate item right okay um you approval the eighth grade uh middle school trip you had a presentation uh two meetings ago and you had a first well that would have been the first reading on it any any questions on the uh eighth grade middle school trip for the superintendent to Washington no okay uh can I have a motion thank you Russell thank you Kim first and second okay any any further questions all those in favor aye okay post that's unanimous thank you for your support okay um Kevin came back gave us uh his superintendent goals he went over at the last uh presentation Kevin anything you want to highlight on those further nothing um nothing the high about

in the morning if you had any questions since the last meeting about them nope okay okay so um I have a motion to approve the superintendent's goals for 2022 2023 Ryan Ryan's one Russell two any questions all those in favor aye okay great okay um I would just say on the superintendent goals if um when we take uh the meeting in January is a checkup on those calls how's that sound okay right okay uh approval of the administrative assistant the accounting clerk we had a pretty good presentation by uh Donna and Kevin uh the last meeting for why we need this uh this this role um you had a chance to look at the job description any any questions of the superintendent or Donna on the um on the position okay so you can have

a motion okay Peggy and Russell thank you first and second any any further questions all those in favor aye opposed unanimous again thank you very much okay now we get the approval of the financials for the month and in July August 2022. any comment on that okay that kind of speaks to Donna's when are we inserting the um that's a separate motion afterwards okay no no that was good [Laughter] all those in favor aye thank you okay so that's unanimous now do you want to insert that that motion I would I would ask that the board had um and you look at the front page so add recommended action h which would be what the title maybe oh so that's going to be it so do it at the end okay okay that's right so

that's done F approval of the installation of bus cameras why don't you just give us that cost again it's 9km so that's what I was really thinking about everybody um talking about this so um so at the last meeting we had discussion about the dash cam camera um that is working well so um without blessing Kim um in order to um to get us to move forward my recommendation is as we talked about last time that we purchased nine additional cameras at a cost not to exceed six thousand dollars so they are about six hundred dollars each but in case we needed to add some additional wiring for whatever reason I'm hoping you would make a motion that we could expend that no more than six thousand dollars to purchase nine additional cameras I'm recommending

that we take the funding from the K to 12 Transportation line item which um as we look at that right now has an unencumbered balance so we believe we do have the six thousand dollars from that line item for these cameras so we have heard back from Dean Martin effective and yes he's behind us absolutely and have your other concerns of parents with buses being passed and that kind of thing that Mrs Coggins right not from any additional parents what parents parents were very grateful based upon the board discussion on the 13th they were very pleased with how we plan to address it I was just saying what is the lead time we say go and then when I heard Luke caught some Flack today on the interweb I always said I know I don't

know anything about that well I don't know what the lead time is it we can find out I don't know do you know Donna I don't know off the top of my head uh for that quantity so guys and this wasn't for every bus correct this was just the ones 10 of the 13. oh this is the routes that right no it actually had to do with the um the electronics and three of the buses aren't up to date to be able to handle the electronics that's the only reason why but we're gonna we're going to make sure that the buses on the routes that that need the camera okay right and Dean also added dash cams to the three guys that wasn't included at his cost so yeah and more than that to the

Vans um because there were concerns about the speed that Vans were going so um we're tracking that data as well I mean each of our vans okay so um I need a motion uh allowing us to spend up to six thousand dollars for nine uh bus cameras which will be taking out the K to 12 transport line item we have a motion Joe second Russell discussion I have discussion why can't I be on a CIP why does that have to come out of operating well it hasn't been approved and we're looking for a more timely thing you know if if it comes down to it and for instance our security cameras cost less than our CIP allocation we can move that money over at a later date that's what I was thinking I mean it's

all part of security so but right now we're gonna like just put it in there in case we need it for the security cameras that so so I want to I want to amend the motion not to say to funding to come from the K to 12 transfer Transportation line I I want to leave it open-ended in case we want to go into CIP so I just want to I want the motion to say to allow an expenditure of six thousand dollars from nine cameras for the buses and that's it because if I if I make a motion okay you have to take it from that line item right I'll have to come back to you for CIP anyway to reallocate for yeah the trend the difference between the with Crystal cameras yeah on the

bus this is a significant and it's under um it's under um it's under security I mean in terms of those other cameras okay all right so so the motion is amended to uh always grow the motion thank you forever seconded if you would throw your second that was uh Erica withdrawn all right so now can I have a motion that would the Board of Education will expand not more than six thousand dollars to purchase nine cameras for the Martell buses Erica now Russell thank you I wanted John to kiss your financing okay first and second any further discussion none call us in favor aye Ryan good okay that takes care of that so you uh you had the first reading tonight nice presentation by Nora uh first reading of the model un overnight field trip

proposal as presented um you're just approving this as a first reading you're not necessarily approving the entire trip you can have more questions down the road can I have a first and second on that thanks Kim thanks Peggy first and second any further discussion on that trip hearing none all those in favor aye okay that's unanimous and then the final um the uh final it would be H is the Canton Canton Board of Education reallocate 14 000 for project number zero four eight dot zero zero dot nine nine zero Dash five nine four six one Food Services FSS replacement the project number048.00.996. 59465 CHS tech ed heat unit also that's 7584 from Project number zero four eight dot zero zero.990.59460 Food Service Refrigeration equipment be reallocated to project number 048.00.996.59465 CHS tech ed heat unit

complete can I have a motion on that find out those numbers no let's do it again Erica on her first Russell on the second okay all those uh any further discussion all those in favor aye all right that completes all the recommended actions any comments from the board anything on your mind concerns thoughts comments how we can get better it's up to you have chocolate kisses at every meeting are there still students arriving earlier than 7 20 who are waiting outside there was a little discussion that they were looking into that an open building and then they're not some children's classes are so we chatted about that we actually asked that question so some yeah students are still waiting they're going to development not as long as they were in the first two weeks of

school and the bus is still sitting idle or waiting or not some buses are still waiting yes yes we're not idling so the last time it was brought up though there was a discussion about they're not being staffed and you were looking into if that was possible get that right and right so Drew tells me it's very difficult to do that but if you want me to pursue that I I will well I just know that pre-covered students were able I mean I just wonder what did they do pre-covered because students were able to enter the building at all times yeah and it was very challenging for them because not all the students could be supervised at that time so that's what the administrators are saying so I guess I would like you to look

into it okay all right so I will thank you I mean I won't I won't only look into it I will collaborate with them and develop a solution and we're talking about 10 minutes it's off the bus okay thank you okay any other comments I'll make one suggestion uh this two hour hour and 45 minutes actually two hour time frame for our meeting thank you I think makes for a very productive meeting and I would hope we might be able to keep that in mind it's not always going to be possible I get that and I'm not suggesting that Bell goes off at nine o'clock and we say goodbye but two hours is two productive hours is is a good amount of time yeah I agree we're going to limit presentations to some extent we're

going to limit reports um to be more concise and more succinct and we're going to allow the committee work to uh to to Really report in uh more so we talked at one point at some point rather could we get like an executive summary for continuous Improvement plans in advance of age go more than a page and a half so that we could pre-read it uh and give us a chance to think about if we had a question that sort of thing as opposed to a lengthier presentation where asking questions at that point is you know how long do you want to go on here so that's another more work for the principles I get that but I think it would be more productive for us yeah we're meeting with the principles of this Friday

to develop that consistent template that you're looking for so certainly I think that should be part of the presentation of the executive someone yeah trying to keep the board meetings more towards curriculum policy and finance and then you know a few reports accordingly there's a lot to do I get there okay all right well I'm pleased tonight we finished before the 9 15 uh projections so anything else to come before the Board of Education this evening if not our next meeting is October we have the next meeting 11 October 11th okay is on Tuesday night and I don't see anything in between I hope to see at the football game Friday and doing a motion to adjourn thanks Erica thanks John oh Ryan you got it yeah you got the second on your journey oh

what's your favorite 905. great thank you all for being here at 6 15 tonight
