001oh come on everybody thank you good morning and welcome to the National Honor Society induction ceremony my name is Karina cartiera president of the National Honor Society at this time I ask you to please let's Jesus I would now like to introduce superintendents all right good morning everybody this is a little lively that's that's positive exciting morning I'm here to celebrate so I appreciate a little energy I do want to take to recognize those in our community who support that I know that the friends families and Educators and the tenants here today served as the Bedrock for our inductees I would ask that our inductees please rise for a moment and give you a round of applause okay so by virtue of your induction here this morning I recognize that you are not the group
002you aren't students who would necessarily benefit leadership or be inspired to engage in community service having served this past decade is Cheshire High School principal before becoming superintendent of our amazing school system I appreciate the hard-working and focused students who arrive on the stage because with that in mind that I ask you to breathe each of you has demonstrated that you in your presence is a valuable variable to you that makes the difference you make a difference as a student as a leader as a person and a volunteer you're being present is a gift that you give our community my grandmother was filled with so many great Irish sayings I'll never forget her touching my dad zoning out and her telling him charity don't let your mind wander is that shirt looks pretty good for
003never being ironed she would say a line like that is the equivalent of giving a pair of pants and taking the bottom out of them the pants aren't worth as much when you can't use them in your body is hanging out I shared these with you not simply inject some humor but it's a drive home a point in this scenario you are the tremendously valuable pair of pants you bring so much to our school and community I ask that you don't diminish that gift by giving less than your full attention your leadership elevates everyone around you but only if you are present in the moment thinking you can juggle for things at the same time in this age of distraction Fool's Gold stay in the moment continue to be that gift to our community if
004you've proven you to me and remember that that visual of the pants with no bottom it's a good way to pull your attention back pressure high school will be better for it thank you for all that you do for our following students in our Cheshire Community congratulations on all of your successions moving forward thank you [Music] foreign the National Honor Society was founded in 1921 and is sponsored by the National Association of secondary school principals its goal is to recognize and encourage excellence in scholarship service leadership and character each school which holds an NHS Charter sends its own standards within the general magical break students we honor here this morning have academic averages of 4.0 or higher and have established outstanding records of service character and Leadership according to commercial statements and these husbands made
005by their teachers I want to congratulate these students and experience our school's pride in their achievements [Applause] the first candle represents truth and knowledge the two goals towards the young people who are today Inspire I would like this to symbolize students will speak about the meaning of these principles foreign character's achieved cannot receive it is a product of consistent actions the problem of character is we must be in reality with impairment to others by demonstrating such qualities reliability we may hope to prove by example that we have thank you I would like to introduce our other PHP we'll talk about service can be expressed in various points and the routine of the day's work and the opportunities advised willingness to work without monetary confiscation without recognition for the benefit of those in need is the
006quality we are committed to the idea of volunteering on time and abilities to the creation of a better tomorrow thank you it is my pleasure to introduce you our clerk who we'll talk about leadership leadership should accept outsole and taking the initiative class and school activities the real leader strives to train and Aid others to retain the objectives the price of leadership is sacrificed the willingness to keep yield one's personal interest for the interest of others a leader has self-confidence and will go forward when others hesitate no matter what power and resources may exist in the country they are homosexual without guidance leadership is always needed and is best of substantive charge to each of our members our fundraising chairs [Applause] scholarship means a commitment to learning a student is willing to spend hours and

009[Music] [Applause] Ed an extraordinary Milestone as Dr Solon said in his opening remarks that is in such a large part due to all of you so thank you again parents and families for supporting these wonderful students to achieve you so again good morning and congratulations I'd like to thank Dr Solon our superintendent of schools Ms Solano our assistant superintendent of schools in our board of education for their stalnward support of Cheshire high school and our National Honor Society so this morning we celebrate their wonderful achievement and we know no great achievement is accomplished without hard work and sacrifice we thank you all our NHS inductees and now members your service your leadership and yourself the art of service as the student said is character and these qualities of character are courage and integrity and pull
010us forward into service it's not easy it is not always convenient foreign you actually find yourself it's impossible to celebrate character from surface through requires us to show up keep present and participate and that takes and deep commitment which each and every one of those stage to demonstrate a day after death they exemplify what is best who often been inducted into a really prestigious among its members surgeons and U.S senators Representatives novelists former president of the Red Cross NFL players the list goes on and on but what unifies all of the members of NHS is not necessarily the physical public accomplishments is that they live their lives so my advice to all of you embrace the opportunities in front of you membership in the NHS is kind of vehicle that will provide you on opportunities
011to discover what you care about your passion interests and that will help guide others the future now belongs to you your fellow NHS members who are in charge of Hope and inspiration to others by their actions at this time in history [Music] are you ready for your journey so I don't want to stand between you and your delicious breakfast a few more shout outs before I send you on your way and continuous this event takes a ton of effort to get underway and first with our students I would like to thank your officers president Karina Cartier co-vice presidents clerk Julia Rubin and fundraising Sheriff share for their incredible hard work thank you and I'd also like this is such a meaningful and public event so thank you to all of you [Music] [Applause] no event
