oh sure mr grippo here mr white here miss helen mr chairman you have a quorum great um all right for the pledge mr sheldon do you have a flag or you have one in the background anyway oh here we go i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all that must always be fun seeing me get back into my chair i just like fall in it's like like a roller coaster okay uh let's see we have not had any public comment uh thank you dr sullivan just asking about that um all right so our first policy for review is student health services um it was there uh any i'm guessing there were no

additional changes from last time no there haven't been any changes and you know uh basically as we've discussed previously um there excuse me let me get to that right so the uh there will be legal changes down the road at some point but uh right now we're just making some tweaks um to address a change in like language for medical advisor that's for us right now that's uh dr o'connor he's been our medical advisor for years uh updating some screening language sorry about that basically everything to comply with state law but really what we want is to make sure that next next fall when school sports begin that we have students that are receiving their uh screening that's required of them to play sports and have it be good for the full season um and

not just expire in the middle of the season so this part here highlighted um so we you know have it good for 13 months um that all complies with law but again we want it to be good for the sports season so we can request that families have that squared away that's what we'll be doing next fall because otherwise it's it's a medical risk for the student and a legal liability for us i mean when we checked around other districts this is what people do to make sure that you know their students are healthy to be able to participate and that their district is covered from a liability perspective um so this is a second reading um are we will we have to have a uh another meeting to get this instituted before next fall

i would think right we have our meeting on um the well we could put that procedure in place before next fall but we do have our meeting for the second reading on the third we could do another really quick meeting so that we could uh you know approve this at the business meeting on june the end of year fiscal meeting on june 30th okay so it would be a pretty quick meeting i think we just thought it would make sense because i'd love to be able to put all these in the past as we transition into the new school year start fresh in 2021 22. okay so we'll we'll plan for a real quick meeting then at the second half of the month i guess yeah yeah okay um uh can i have a motion

to um bring this let's say policy number 5141 for a second meet for a second reading do we do we do the policy the motion first and then have discussion i do have one question on it yes yes okay so i make a motion to bring uh policy 5141 to a second reading i will second that okay um uh discussion tim go ahead yeah so my only question i can't recall if we really uh if i i can't recall an answer on this i think i mentioned it last month the um i'm looking for the uh so under students student health services it's around the middle of the document to tuberculin testing right uh number five lives with anyone who had who was in a homeless shelter jail or prison uses illegal drugs or has

an hiv infection um i'm just wondering do how does that apply to so i guess if if someone's a high risk for this are police officers at high risk so if you're if you have a daughter and you're in a jail on a daily basis does your how does that impact your daughter do your parents know or you're a prison guard you work at a you you uh you know work at a soup kitchen a homeless shelter type of thing on a sunday afternoon i'm just curious how that affects because there's i'm sure there's kids i know i know kids who have parents who are police so it's that i mean at least in theory if we're gonna have real enforcement of this how does it apply in real life yeah so um i think

that's a medical question that the child's physician because this is not the only um screening that they need would be required to provide of the the child um you know i can ask nancy for clarification on that one i guess i guess my question is is you know if it's just an annual thing it's one thing but is it i kind of wonder if this is written from the perspective of looking at it being a prisoner who's probably you might be in prison for nine months and then you come out and you're back with your kid all right now this kid has to do it in march whereas this is an annual test that most kids go through in august every year at their annual checkup so instead of getting that annual checkup done in

august now your your father is home from prison in march and you have to get a test all of a sudden i could see maybe it's designed that way but does it actually end up capturing everybody else who works there on a daily basis anyway you understand the point i'm making that's that's the only question yeah it says that you know that it's recommended not required oh it does it says it's recommended that students at each mandated health assessment be screened for their risk of exposure to tb so it's incumbent upon the physician to ask okay okay um or if your child is at a risk factor and if so then they'd be screened for that so i mean i i honestly tim don't know how regularly physicians ask that question you know my only

point of reference is my family yeah yeah i think you understand the point i'm making i'm it's not like i want to make a big to-do out of it it's just if all of a sudden there's you know something happens and then there's a tuberculosis breakout or i have no idea i just that's all yeah what i what i recall from my own blood-borne pathogen training is that um most of the people who would come in contact with that sort of in that sort of situation are normally inoculated against tuberculosis and hepatitis for as a requirement for their for their job um so the risk of exposure to other people uh in the household is would be very low anyway um unless they were had received an injury or something like that that's when it

could be you know maybe a higher risk but if we're talking about corrections or police officers usually it's a very very low risk um so yeah i don't mean to slow anything down it just to me it's something that uh just to have some idea about at some point when you're talking yeah i asked i i just shot nancy stanton our nursing coordinator an email um with the language asking to connect on it tomorrow so you know at our next meeting we know like we said we were planning another meeting real quick to move this one maybe even nancy could attend so she's gonna answer any questions um okay so we have oh god well no my only point it's not that i need to know the details i just want to make sure that

things run smoothly for the kids and the parents and stuff whatever we need to do that's that's my point and as long as you say it's good then i'm fine with it i don't need to ask another question about it just to know that the yeah works smoothly you know it's my curiosity now how frequently does that come up for us in a system with 4 200 kids and you know like you said i know there are plenty police officers corrections whatever um that you know would engage that i just i think back to i think back to the point where you were saying that uh what was it elementary school kids were required by law to have unsupervised playground time right rather than undirected instructors yeah you're coming from one perspective you read it

in a certain way if you're thinking about the prisoners and not the police officers i can see where you might write something like that i don't know anyway that's all thank you i'm done thank you sir okay um seeing no further discussion um all in favor of uh moving the uh policy for a second reading all in favor it is unanimous of the uh of those present thank you um moving on um we have our policy 6159 individualized education program special education program um as it's a third reading i would suspect there's no changes uh but uh jeff you have it on the screen so quick review i guess yeah basically this is uh has been determined through the courts that the idea requires uh services for students with special needs up to high school

graduation or their 22nd birthday it was always considered until 21 so um everybody was exiting students at the age of 21 but now uh the courts have determined it's their 22nd birthday it's through 21. so that's you know everything here is the same as we've always had with the exception of changing the date of uh exiting to 22 years of age to make 21 inclusive so everything here like you know you mentioned adam is the same as it's been i'm not just in the first and second readings but i i would stay even further back all the way you know since the date we adopted this policy okay um i would like to entertain a motion uh to move this for a third and final reading tim make a motion to [Music] move policy 61-59

to a third and final reading by the board i will second um is there any discussion on the motion seeing no further discussion all in favor is unanimous of those present thank you um uh dr solon is there any other uh business to come before the policy committee this evening no sir all right uh i have no other business uh i didn't tim i didn't see a hand i thought maybe i saw a hand no no no oh okay motion uh um i will second that motion all in favor aye we are adjourned wow that's a record time well we're gonna set a new record i think at the next one so yeah maybe
