001The third proposition would rebuild the baseball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse field at our high school, relieving the stress on our athletic infrastructure across the district. We're at the Cornwall Central High School. Within this proposition, we are looking to replace and upgrade our varsity baseball field, our softball fields, and our PE station out there. We do have drainage issues, which are on the south end of the field. So we are looking to remediate those drainage issues, and when we put our fields back, we are looking to put artificial turf in. One of the significances of doing that is that we'll be able to play on that field earlier in the season, we'll be able to extend the season for both softball and baseball, and we'll be able to mitigate any water issues that happen because of

002torrential rains or snow or bad weather. Proposition 3 is a key component for our athletic department. Not only does it provide us with an opportunity to serve all of our programs, it has a tremendous impact on when our programs can get started. Our baseball, softball programs, you know, they start in early March and unfortunately in the Northeast, our programs are limited to, you know, usually mid to late April when they can fully get on our fields. And then even throughout the season, we're constantly hindered by the effects of the Northeast. You know, our current stadium has been a tremendous asset to our programs and we've maximized the use of it. Unfortunately, with the limited space that we currently have, our teams are forced to practice as late as 9, 10 o'clock at night, 6 nights

003a week, just to have the opportunity to be on the turf, which is a safe playing surface for those teams and and one that they can get on in the winter months even. So having the opportunity to support now our baseball, softball, and our lacrosse and soccer programs to a higher level is going to be key for our program. People think, you know, being in the Northeast, a rain day is just a rain day. Unfortunately, the drainage is so bad on those lower fields that when it rains, that'll typically put us out for 3 to 3 days to possibly even a week, depending on how hard the rains hit us. Also with that, you also have the effects of snow in winter. You know, that, that affects every single season that we have where teams

004are just limited to have to go back into the gym. And again, it's extra use and wear and tear on our gymnasiums because the teams are now forced to train inside because it's not safe to compete on the fields that are just completely completely saturated due to the poor drainage that's on the current fields. [MUSIC] The beneficial is when the students go out for their PE classes, they're not bringing dirt and debris back into the building, especially on those days when there's mud, there's rain. It'll bring about a cleaner environment inside the building and it'll offer more outside time for health reasons for our students to get their activity time in.
